Dr. Rechs is extremely smart, helpful, and patient. One of the best professors I have had the privilege to learn from.
Very clear, helpfull, nice professor, and very funny but has to hold back on some jokes cause of school policy. Great instructor
Awesome teacher. Extremely funny and makes teaching fun and exciting. Keeps class interesting and has the greatest sense of humor. Not an easy class, but not too difficult if you go to class and pay attention
very cute teacher that is easy going, class is very easy and he makes it fun. He is the best teacher i have ever had so far in sac state. He is always welling to help.Notes in class are clear and understandable, test are all based on his notes. If you study the notes and understand them you will get an A in his class.
Just an all around awesome teacher. He taught me how to think about science and gave me the skills to get through the rest of my hard science classes. He's super entertaining!

Great teacher! He is very clear and he makes physio fun with his jokes and funny hand gestures. You will never fall asleep in his class because he always have something funny to say. His tests are based on lecture so go to every lecture! It is possible to get an A in his class just as long as you pay attention and also read the book. Take his class
He is a great teacher and it didn't hurt the fact that he is H-O-T! Great to listen to and I really enjoyed his class!
Great class. Gets easier as it goes, and the tests are fair. Hilarious prof! Don't DONT don't buy the book, because you will not need it at all, and it's expensive.
Dr. Rechs is the best teacher EVER! He keeps you interested in the lectures by presenting the material in a clear, comprehensive mannor and tell jokes to help you remember things as well as to keep you entertained! His willingness to give you extra help makes him real approachable, and he seems to enjoy helping! I highly reccomend him!
I enjoyed every minute of this class. If you're looking for an upper division bio elective, you should definitely take this class! Come to class regularly, study the notes and you are guaranteed an A. Pay attention to the tricky m/c though! And hey, he's not too bad to look at either!
did not like him but recieved a b-, tricky tests
Rechs is a great professor! He is interesting and cares about his students. Just put in the effort and don't think that you can ace the tests without studying. It isn't his job to give you an 'A' after all.
Prof. Rechs is a very helpful teacher, makes the class interesting. I am taking the LAB part of BIO with him and it's super laid back and easy! If you want to learn About BIO AND have FUN, i strongly suggest taking this class with him. Really got me interested in BIOLOGY! Its the one class i LOOK forward to going to.
he is the best bio teacher ever he is so friendly and hilarious. he definitely tries to relate the material to the younger crowd and if you go, take notes, and STUDY you will do great. dont take another bio teacher he is the best!!!
Wonderful teacher! i was nervous about taking bio but he made it fun and interesting and now I love it! He was very funny and always kept the class awake with jokes. As long as you go to his classes, take notes and study for tests you will do great. i extremely recommend him to anyone!
Prof Rechs is an awesome Biology teacher. He knows the materials and tries to make it clear for his students. Go to class, study and you will be fine. 3 Exams and a Final. Exams are off of lecture notes. Very helpful prof so go see him in office hours. Great prof so I HIGHLY recommend him!
This professor is so funny and such a sweetheart. He is very helpful when you have questions and he will do his best to help you if you need him. Study hard if you take his hybrid or online class because tests can get tricky.
Professor Rechs is an awesome bio teacher. I stopped going to class and started watching at home because I have a laughing problem, and I couldn't stop laughing when he tells a joke. Cool teacher! But the tests are tough.
Exams were tough and tricky. The notes didn't help me much because those Qs were so tricky. There's ExCr, but he doesn't even tell U if got the points or not.Makes EC harder for u to get pts.He had us attend an event in SF for 10 pts for $11 and never showed us if he kept a record of our grades.I calculated my grades=B but ended up getting a C?WTH
He doesn't use the book, but the book is also helpful. He breaks all the information down very well into casual terms. ALL of his notes are handwritten on the white board. If you don't come to class you will fail.
Excellent professor. Prompt, clear, and concise. He uses powerpoints for all his lectures, which usually end way early. The tests are easy and based off the notes. Studying with friends makes taking the online tests and homework MUCH easier.
Excellent class! I didn't buy a textbook, just took notes while watching the video lectures. :) Who knew an online class would be so great? Organized lectures, excellent powerpoints, OPEN NOTE online tests. Easy A!
Rechs is an awesome teacher! He is hilarious! I never opened the book, he does all he lecturing by writing on the board. He tests right off of lecture, don't miss a single day or you're screwed. His practice exams aren't really helpful cuz he doesn't give the answers. Grade is only 4 exams & 2 HW assign, tough but really cool class.
By far the easiest bio class i've been in. He made the class fun when there was only 10 students or so. Teaches straight from the lecture. His assignments were easy. The exams were a little hard because you only get 50 mins for 50 questions. Not enough time for me. In all hes the most well rounded bio teacher out of the other bio professors.
I took the hybrid class and it was a pretty easy class. He didn't use a book so all of the online tests were from the powerpoint notes. He is very funny and will answer all questions. TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR if you need to take Bio 10.
Very good professor. Makes neurophysiology easy to understand. Uses lots of examples.
Very gentle and benign personality in a quirky (and acceptable) way. Open-book/note exams are a bit tricky. I find myself needing to spread out my notes and rely on them even when I've studied.
Dr. Rech's is gentle with a soft voice yet completely quirky and is always crackin little jokes throughout lecture. His tests are all based off the powerpoints and lecture which you can get online. He is very approachable and kind during office hours. Tests can be tricky because it is 50 Q's in 50 minutes but if you review enough you will do fine.
Professor Rechs is an amazing teacher. His lectures are very clear, organised, interesting and fun. He is very approachable and always tries to help as much as he can.Make sure you understand all the material well, and class will be an easy A.
Honestly, by far the best teacher I have taken at CSUS. He is super helpful and really knows what hes talking about! He is also hilarious! I would take any class if he is the professor!
It's insane how easy this class was. I wish I could have Rechs as my professor for every subject.
He is super easy. Subject is easy to grps because he is so thorough. I never fell asleep. He is the cute nerd who really likes biology. He knows his stuff off the bat. Test were exactly from the lectures so don't miss any class days. Lab was extremely easy, take the lab portion if you need it.
The best professor I've ever had! Very clear, tests on what he teaches in his lectures, no surprises. Very funny, lectures are not sleep-inducing most of the time. Got an A with a moderate amount of effort.
He explains each topics very well, but if you know general biology well, he may seems to go in depth. His online exams are okay. It's not super easy because it's timed (pressure) and the wordings/grammars of the test can throw you off. But overall, he is a good professor. Always seem to be at his office and willing to help/explain things better.
Surprisingly, this was an easy class. Rechs is extremely helpful, and is a friendly guy. His exams and online homework assignments are easy if you pay attention to his lectures. I find it most helpful when I go to class to attend his lectures in person AND watch them online. Overall, it's an easy A.
I love his lectures. He's hilarious and easy to understand. He explains things really well and is willing to help one on one during office hours. I think his exams are a bit hard because everything is open note.
Awesome proffes, really clear, punny with his lectures, and explains bio beautifully 10/10 would recommend
Great professor. He explains things well, is funny, and is willing to help during office hours. However,he seemed very fond of one student in my section.
This was a hybrid class. All we had to do was watch the video of the lecture for that week, then take the quiz. After five lectures the is a big test, which is really easy. Also, he make everything really clear and it is easy to understand him.
I'm so glad I took Dr. Rechs for Neurophys and Systemic Phys. Because of his quirks, the analogies he used in lecture and just the way he explained concepts... I remember them! - that never happens! (which is why I feel so compelled to write about it.) Makes pharmacy school now that much less difficult. I highly recommend Dr. Rechs.
I was reviewing my A&P notes I took years ago from taking Dr. Rechs class and I was really impressed with how much I still remembered and learned. I really enjoyed his class and it has helped me along the way towards my Heath care career. I wished he taught microbiology at the college I'm currently attending! I recommend him to everyone.
Amazing professor! Would highly recommend. I took the hybrid class & i never attended the lectures i just watched them online. He explains things so well and always gives real life examples so you understand things better. Super nice and funny he cracks jokes all the time. Wish more professors were like him.
Dr. Sechs was such a good professor. The class is technically a hybrid but I just watched the lectures online and everything was extremely clear. Tests are easy if you're into science. If not you'll have to work for it just like any other science class.
Hybrid class. The wording on the tests can sometimes be confusing.. Just keep up with the lectures and homework and you'll be okay.
Best teacher I've had at Sac State. Great lecturer, very clear, tests on what he teaches with extra credit opportunities on each exam. Also quirky, which keeps lectures exciting and often funny.
One of the best Professors I have taken and I have a MSN in nursing so I have taken many classes and have gone through tons of teachers. He is fair and makes lectures fun and enjoyable for all types of students i.e. auditory learners or visual learners. Deserves teacher of the year award. I recommend my family and friends to take him!
Dr. Rechs is there for his students, and he makes that clear every day in class. Although he already does an amazing job teaching concepts in class by making things funny and literately drawing things out, he will always take the time to help you understand difficult concepts outside of class. I took him for Bio 10, 131, and now 132.
His class is all online. His lectures are based off of the power which he has posted so you can print them before class. He included humor in his lecture. The test are based off of the lectures and they are open notes online. I loved him and would take him again.
Funny professor. This was a pretty easy class. It is a recorded class so you never have to go if you don't want to. All the lectures are streamed online and all exams were online as well. One short online homework assignment after every lecture. Super easy class. Would recommend.
Tests and homework were all online. Does not give a lot of time for tests so you have to REALLY know your material. Tests were tough but definitely pass-able. Long lectures but he teaches very well and knows his material. Not an easy A
Professor Rechs was a really funny guy. He lectures a bit fast, but his bio10 class is hybrid, so if you're ever lost on a topic, you can just go to SACCT and rewatch the lectures. Overall, he is a great guy, and he makes biology really interesting. You don't even need to buy the textbook, because his powerpoints are very detailed already
Absolutely amazing teacher. Uses visuals (draws on whiteboard) often and does an incredible job. Very thorough and detailed in his explanations and drawings. Very approachable and always willing to help. Hilarious and personable, making class fun and the notes memorable. Tests MC/short answer, no tricks whatsoever. Only tests on notes. Take him!
Crystal clear lecturer and really easy to listen to. Easy class to pass. Take notes and online quizzes and exams are a breeze. There are a lot of quizzes, one for each lecture, but really easy. Exams are like extended quizzes. There is a textbook, but I didn't even touch it. You should be able to pass this class with an A.
Dr. Rechs is a fantastic professor! His lectures are humorous; therefore, lectures don't feel so dry. The course was pretty simple, especially if you're coming in with a science background. Homeworks after every chapter, and won't be due till the Sunday before the exams. His exams are similar to the homework questions. Overall it's a easy class!
The class was a hybrid, therefore I never attended class. There is homework for every chapter. Test is based of everything on the powerpoint. Don't buy the textbook because you wont need it. Curves the grade. Exam is 50 and there is 50 questions on it. Best advice: don't procrastinate, learn everything before hand be prepare for the exam.
First thing I can say is.. He is absolutely hilarious. Super goofy, loved his class! Pretty easy class. I recieved an A- because of a generous curvw but without it I would've recieved a Solid B. Homework is easy, he drops the lowest grade. Tests and fairly easy if you study well. Dont procrastinate! 50 questions in 50 minutes. Overall great class
Very passionate and helpful professor. Lectures by drawing/writing on the whiteboard, and everything you will need to know about the tests come from these notes. Always there for the students. Hilarious commentary helps the lectures stay interesting. Highly recommended. Four exams, all MC, easy if you memorize the notes.
I took the hybrid course and it was fairly easy. There is only 20 seats available but you can stream the class anywhere at any time. You don't need the book because his Power Points are very detailed. The exams are open book, but make sure you know the material because you only have 50 mins. Don't forget the online HW! You're going to love him!
His class is so hard for a hybrid class. The stuff he lectures us on, isn't even on the test! The test is timed, and he expects us to know the answers to 50 questions in 50 minutes. He is ridiculous. He words the questions so confusing. He is a horrible teacher. AVOID HIM BECAUSE YOU WILL FAIL!
HW for each chapter (total of 22). 4 online exams (50 minutes & 50 questions). Exam questions are difficult and barely relate to the lectures. People say this class is easy, it's NOT.
People said his class is an easy A, you have got to be kidding me. For a hybrid class, this has to be the hardest thing I've ever done! We have a week to do 5 ch of hw online, that too, he stopped showing us which ones we got wrong; we can't learn from out mistakes. Our exams are 50 ?s, 50 min and he expects us to know it like the back of our hand.
HARDEST CLASS EVER! HARDEST EXAMS EVER!!
dont take the class and run away, it is way too hard for bio 10 compared to my friend's class.
Great instructor - very easy to follow lecture style. Made the class easy to remember by relating the subject to real life experiences or memorable examples. The class itself was not tedious which was nice, your grade is based primarily on tests so study! No homework or quizzes. Not a powerpoint type lecture - all written. 3 tests, 1 final.
Took him for Bio 10 and his class was enjoyable! attendance is not mandatory because he posts his lectures online along with the PowerPoint slides the day of also no textbook needed just notes and exams are pretty straightforward just look over notes (exams online) also he has a quirky sense of humor that pops up from time to time in lecture
He makes super nerdy jokes, i thought it was kind of a hott as a bio major. His class is very easy, lecture based. Test are hard only cause everything is open note! COME TO THE PHYSICAL CLASS, don't watch videos harder to learn and do well if your not engaging in class. No midterm or final only 4 unit test EASY if you take good notes
This class was a hybrid class. At first it was hard because he posts lectures online and I thought I could just look at the power point notes and get an A. But it did not turn out like that. After I started watching the online lectures the course became very easy. He explains the content really well and is thorough. Would definitely recommend.
He has an awesome personality and is genuinely kind, everything in the class I took was fair/ well organized. Many people disliked the class because exams focused less on straight out lecture bullet points and more on concepts and understanding. But, if you understand the lectures you'll survive. Also don't buy the book! totally unnecessary.
Hardest class ever. Tests are sooo hard. Don't take him please, i am begging you. My grade has been at a D the whole semester. I regret it sooo bad but you live and you learn so learn from me and don't take this class. You're welcome.
The thing about this class was that you can't just memorize the material, you have to actually understand it, and that, paired with the fact his questions are easily confusing and worded weirdly, make the tests and homework hard. He's a nice guy, but he needs to make the questions less convoluted on tests. The book was helpful-ish for deeper study
For this class you can either come in or watch live online & play back lectures later. This is very beneficial- i re watched all lectures before studying. Online exams - but difficult & timed. He has an amazing way of explaining the material that helps you understand it. Funny jokes & will always help after class if you need it. Homework every week
Hybrid class. Don't watch online better to go to class (even if full; just wait starts to thin). Makes lots of jokes. Hw clustered due dates to before exams. Exams are open everything learn how to search slides, but still know the information as they have a time limit!!! Don't wait til hours before due date for hw best to get it out of the way.
He's a great professor and wants you to learn the material but I found that his tests were almost unfairly difficult. I did everything that I possibly could do to do well on the online exams and I still got a D on every single exam. So if you're looking for an easy pass of a GE course, stay clear of him.
This class had about more than 100 students enrolled but only 60 seats were available in class. The rest had to take the course online. I took it online and it was the best thing ever. In order to pass tests I suggest to watch each lecture twice. lecture videos are 1 hr long. Tests are not easy at all. Overall, Rechs explains the concept well :)
This class was a good basic Bio class. He is a good online professor. Very clear in was we needed to accomplish. Online classes require some independent work but I appreciated that all the lectures and tests were online.
Although the test are online, listen to him when he says to study for the test. He is very clear on the subjects he taught, making it easy to understand. He's pretty funny as well. Quizzes on every lecture, up to 4 chances. 1 midterm, 1 final.
There are 15 homework assignments and there are 4 exams including the final. The first exam is the easiest but he makes the next exams harder. If you study and memorize the powerpoints you will pass the quizzes and exams.
I took the section2 hybrid class which means you don't have to go to class bc he live streams the lectures and tests are online. He is really funny and is good at teaching and will add everyone on the waitlist.
I had the hybrid class and hated the exams. I would study his lectures and do everything he would say, but still wouldn't be able to get A's. Was a little frustrating since it's just a GE course, but still is manageable.
This was not an easy class. But Dr. Rech's lecture make things easy to understand. Exam questions are from the lecture and he goes over a lot in on lecture so I recommend recording the lectures. The book was not super helpful, but Youtube videos help make total systems concepts more clear. He's approachable and fair and available for questions.
Dr. Rechs is probably the chillest professor on campus. To be honest, his class is challenging, but fairly simpler, due to the fact that he explains every concept perfectly. You should definitely have two things; a multicolored pen (changes colors during lecture), and a recorder (he writes, as well as discusses topics and information). Don't MISS!
I was pretty scared from the reviews I read but his class was so convenient to my schedule. I decided to take it and I don't regret one bit. He is such a chill and nice professor. Explains everything so good, I took his hybrid class if your class offers the extra unit ALS class take it helps so much.
Hybrid class can be difficult if you do not attend lectures in person. Reason being that it makes it difficult to get to know the professor as well as getting to know other class mates and create study groups
I took the Hybrid course and it was not terrible because his lectures were extremely clear and you do not need any outside sources. But when it came to the test they were tough because he gives a lot of none of the above or all of the above questions so you have to read a lot of options over and over again, and you only have 50min. Open notes.
I took the hybrid and only had to show up the first day. I was able to view the lectures online on my free time. Overall, he is a great teacher. Exams are online, open-note, and timed. Homework is online as well, and you get 4 tries for each. No final exam. Take good notes, stay on track and you should pass. You get what you work for.
I took the hybrid version of this course. I recommend to view the lectures online, but to make sure to keep up with it. The homework is relatively easy. You have four attempts at each homework assignment. Exams are open-note, but timed (50 questions in 50 minutes). Exams aren't hard, its just the wording of the answers that get you.
Rechs is a nice guy and knows his subject. All lectures are online and he explains everything pretty well. Homework is easy and straightforward. Timed exams are much harder than you would think though, even with open notes.
He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He took time to help me study for the final exam and he is the only professor that has ever done that for me.
tests are hard. All the answers can be found in ppt, but you might have to think about them b4 answering. 50 Q's 50 minutes, so time runs out if you don't work fast. HW can be found on quizlet w/ ALL answers. I'm not good a bio so this was extremely hard for me. Gives everyone 4-5% boost at end of semester. Hes a good lecturer, but Bio is just hard
You can tell he really like teaching, he is really funny, not a boring lecture and he helped me understand hard materials (Im not good at bio, but how his visuals really help, would reccommend to anyone, just the test are a bit hard so watch out for that
No textbook use, and don't have to physically show up to class but online exams were impossible
Homework is easy but tests arent. You really need to study for them because some questions are tricky. the first 2 tests i didnt study and got low grades. once i actually studied and applied myself though for the last two, i got good grades. so dont be lazy when it comes to studying!
Homework was fairly easy because you are given 4 attempts. However, I found his exams so hard. I literally have failed all 3 and am not doing too welling the class.
Class was online. If you want to pass attend the lecture online. Fair warning if you don't keep up with the lectures you will fall so behind in the class. There's 3-4 timed exams.
Tests are impossible. Do your homework, and study every single day of the semester if you wish to get a C in the class. May the odds be in your favor.
Dr. Rechs gives amazing lectures, did the hybrid course, and never went to class once. Just do the hw, you get 4 tries each, super easy A. Study for the exams their not too hard, I suggest make flash cards out of power pt lecture. I dont know why people are giving him a bad review. 100% take him, he is amazing and funny.
I loved the hybrid class. In order to pass, however, you must watch every single lecture. Don't bother with the book. Nearly every single answer to the test questions he gives during lecture so take notes on the slides. Sometimes it is a verbal answer in the class lecture and not physically on the slides. You won't have time to look up every answer
i took the hybrid class, the class is average if you watch every lecture video then you should be fine!I did bad on the first two tests because I didn't watch the videos and just take notes from the powerpoint. His tests are not hard but it's mostly questions with answers such as "all of the above" or "none of the above".
Extremely hard course and I was told Dr. Rechs was the best choice but for me it didnt seem to make a difference as it was so difficult to grasp the concepts. He only teaches it during the summer which can be good or bad depending on your style of studying. The lectures were always in-class (no powerpoints), drew pictures and explained.
You are graded on 4 exams (1 a month on about 4 chapters each) & homework assignments. For almost every lecture there is a homework assignment of about 15 multiple choice questions online. He did a really good job on lecturing & explaining things. He made it clear what would be on the exams & always offered his help if anyone needed it! Recommend!
Dr. Rechs only teaches this course during summer and I was told he's the best professor to take physio with. The class itself is extremely difficult as it's my second time taking it. His lecture style was different (no lec notes) but compared to others he simplifies the concepts for easier understanding. No cumulative final!
my dude im a straight A student and i barely managed to pass this class with a B-. his test questions are confusing af (none of the above/all the above). i used crash course to survive. he curves the final grade by 4-5% and drops the lowest 2 homework assignments/quizzes.... good luck fellers
Rechs is great! He simplifies concepts that can be challenging to understand. He doesn't do powerpoints, he lectures and draws on the board. His tests can be challenging due to the fact that his questions can be very wordy and confusing he does alot "all of the above/none of the above" questions, but he wants you succeed and understand material.
Took his BIO7 asynchronous lab and it was self explanatory. Make sure you pay attention in your actual lecture to understand what he will be asking in the questions during the lab. Sometimes the labs could be hard but most of the time they are pretty simple.
Glad I took him. Subject is hard but everything is clearly laid out
L professor he puts too many all of the above none of the above type questions and he is very tricky with his wording so you have to know your stuff.
He is an amazing professor. He cares about his students and wants all to succeed. This is a very tough class, so there is a lot of learning involved. Only thing is that he takes forever to reply an email. Other than that, he is great. He is also very tricky with his wordings during the exams.
Dr. Rechs is the BEST Biology professor/teacher I've EVER had. He is genuinely so sweet and funny. I always look forward to his lectures. Class-wise, there are like one to two assignments throughout the entire semester other than the 4 exams. The class is not too hard, actually. Just attend the lectures, take notes, and study. Best professor ever:)
For this class, only 3 exams & 1 movement analysis project was needed. Every lecture prof Rechs also offers 3 point quizzes. Attend the lectures so you get those free points. Professor Rechs is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. The only thing is his exams are so wack. They're all “which of the following.” Prepare for those!
I would not recommend this professor to anyone who wants to get a good grade in a bio class. His exams are the most hardest thing to do. He puts all of the above or none of the above questions, makes it very confusing to the students. You can study all day for a week straight and still get a bad grade because of how much he tries to trick you.
Best professor I could've taken! Exams are tough, I will say that, but he ONLY tests you on what he goes over in lecture. The things I didn't know are because I didn't study them, not because he didn't teach it. If you study the lectures, you'll get an A. He is very engaging and is passionate about the subject, so it makes it super easy to listen!
Professor Rechs is awesome. His class is extremely lecture based, but they're easy to follow along. Study 2 weeks out from exams and you will get an A+ on every exam. The Lab has one project and the Lab exam portion will be the same day as the final. ACTUALLY DEDICATE TIME and u will do great. Team up with ur lab partner and STUDY u will be fine.
