I'm not particularly well read with regards to Microsoft Office, but I knew about as much as the average person coming in. Afterwards, I was just happy the class was over and I could carry on with my summer.
pretty simple class, gives you full sheet of notes for each test. notes are exactly on exam.
Overall a great class with plenty of time to finish assignments. Going to class is not required but strongly advised because it helps a tremendous amount when it comes to project. Pretty easy class if there is some previous knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Most of the material you will learn is online and through the homework. If you have a question, ask. He responds to emails like a text message. He is obviously tech-savy. Don't expect leniency, grades are clear cut with no grey area.
There are only 3 tests which are simulations and they are pretty difficult if you dont practice the practice simulations. Practice simulations are easy as you get many chances per question and if you complete 80% of the practice simulation then you get an A on it. The projects take time, but if you know what you are doing then they are simple.
Reed is such a homie. Easy class if you do the work and showing up to class does help although it is not required. He is super understanding and a great guy. Totally knows his material and makes everything look like a piece of cake. So definitely go ask him for questions and he'll most likely fix them in that moment.
Professor Reed is awesome. Take if you want to learn useful things. Upfront, no surprises and fair. Minimal work if started on time and attend labs. You get the grade you deserve for the effort you put in. 1 page of notes allowed per test, 3 tests 4 quizzes and one website to make. Easy a, although I missed some quizzes so ill get a b. Take!
Attendance is optional. But the Simulations and Projects and tests are NOT EASY. No matter what you hear each assignment will take A LONG TIME.
Professor Reed is an excellent teacher! If I could take him for every IS class I would. He is very straightforward with the class. There are 3 tests and each of them you can use a page of notes. There are 2 small projects and one big website project due at the end of the year. There are quizzes about every other week. Overall, it's a great class!
One of the better professors in the department. Fair, but firm and is available to answer questions and provide assistance.
He's a great instructor and knows exactly what he's talking about. Willing to help with any question. Class lectures help a lot with simulations and exams.
Going to class isn't necessary but recommended. His tests and projects are basically pass or fail. Id recommend this teacher
Very helpful when it came to projects!
Prof Reed was really helpful whenever I had any questions and his assignments were relatively easy throughout the course. I took the summer class, so the whole thing was a little rushed, but he was helpful in getting students to manage it all during the short time.
Professor Reed was a super helpful teacher. You didn't need the course books to do well in the course because he went over everything thoroughly in class. It is important that you know that if you can do well on the simulations, you will do well on the exams because they are almost the exact same thing.
Professor Reed is a great teacher and the class is easy if you go and pay attention to the lectures.
Adam is the man. He starts off class with music (usually FLoRida or Pitbull) and jams out. He is very helpful and explains the material very clearly.
Good professor, he is very helpful and easy to contact outside of class. Overall the class is not bad, one main project that you work on through out the semester. He has many classes in the computer lab explaining how to do the project, which is very helpful.
As easy as a class can be without being a waste of time. All the material is really relate-able in the business world. Classes are quick and to the point, rarely longer than 45 minutes. Cool guy, super helpful. Few assignments, just one big project but you have a bunch of open labs to work on it. Overall glad I took this course.
Great professor. Easy class, and always available
He's a great guy who is really passionate about what he does.
Would definitely recommend. Overall great Teacher.!!!
Read the slides and take notes. You'll fail the quizzes if you don't.
He is an awesome teacher!! I always learn so much from him every class I take. No book but attendance is mandatory.
He is super helpful and clear about the material and what is expected in the class. You can tell he enjoys teaching and he is super respected in the college of business
Took this class over summer 2nd session. Goes by fast so pay attention. Reread slides and remember to make note sheet ahead of time.
Great professor, but VERY different from 101. There are weekly quizzes that could make or break your grade, but are easy if you study. If you attend all of the lab classes you could basically get your class project done with him. Attendance is mandatory and honestly useful, would definitely take him again!
Great professor! has very clear requirements and offers any help you need along the way. Tests are mellow as long as you make a good note sheet. Best professor I have had at UNR
Great class, its going to be useful. The final project is a challenge but not overwhelming. DEFINITELY study for the quizzes, cannot stress this enough, it is so easy to get 100% on all of them and dropping points once in a while adds up fast.
Professor Reed takes a subject that is not the most fun and makes it relatable. He makes it easy to learn and quizzes and tests are directly based on his lectures. Putting in some effort will nearly guarantee you an A. The class project was a great way of applying what Professsor Reed was lecturing on.
Professor is strict about attendance, however, if you go, exams will seem pretty easy. there are 3 exams 15% each all questions from class presentations. Great professor, lectures were not boring!
Professor Reed was an excellent instructor. I learned a lot from his class based on the lectures as well as the labs that he went through with the class. I would definitely recommend students to take his course.
Prof Reed is a fairly young guy, very connected to the campus and a great teacher. The class was fairly standard and Prof Reed basically walks us through it all.
Great professor and useful class! Reed is clear on the material he wants you to grasp and is willing to walk you through anything you don't understand. I would however, recommend studying a lot for the exams. The material will help you outside of the classroom as well.
Terrific person and teacher, clear and fair grader.
Before taking the class I thought it was going to be very difficult, but he did a good job at making things easy to understand and complete. He did a good job lecturing and the tests were off the lecture.
A good bit of homework, but gives a lot of opportunity to get it done and access to help. Straight forward lectures. Study for the tests more than you think you need to, itll really help your grade.
Reed is a good professor. It is project heavy, as expected from an IS class. The projects are not difficult, he walks you through all of them. There are a couple tests, he posts his slides and his expectations are clear on what he is testing you on. Overall, if you are taking an IS class, this should be your top choice. I actually learned a lot.
Professor Reed is one of the most respected IS Professors at UNR. Not only does he care about his students by staying 'hip' with the current trends, but he has so much valuable information with regards to Information Systems and how it is applicable to real life and the world of business.
One of the better business classes at UNR, everything you learn in this class you can start using right away in the real world. Class Project is awesome and he gives great step by step instruction. I would highly recommend taking any of Professor Reed's classes.
This teacher is to put it simply, ass. He is lazy, he doesn't care about his students and he makes his classes harder than anyone needs to make it be. I cannot say that I am surprised by this as UNR seems to have a thing for hiring the teachers that probably couldn't get a job at an elementary school. Overall this class was terrible and a waste.
He is fine but his directions for any assignment that is not the website are vague and not very helpful. This class felt like a waste to me because I will never be creating websites and that is what we are doing the whole semester with some random equally as irrelevant assignments in between.
Reed is a great guy! This class is pretty basic and straightfoward. He is very clear about what he's looking for and what you need to do to pass. There are several projects throughout the semester, but he always provides open zoom labs for any help you may need. Syllabus has all the assignments. Just follow along and know what's expected of you.
Good luck trying to figure out what your grade is. You basically don't find out until the end of the semester. Also, rarely seemed to communicate with the class, even when students had questions.
Hard to get to, does not care about students, is a tough grader although only his TAs grade.
Amazing Professor. He wants you to succeed! Offers extra credit opportunities. Would take again.
This course was very demanding when it came to working. The professor gave lectures on material that barely covered the homework assignments. I recommend taking this course at TMCC.
professor reed was great for IS 101!
Loved taking this class!
Super helpful and cares about how you're doing in the class.
This professor is pretty chill, and helpful.
Easy class to pass if you pay attention and watch all of his videos. We had 3 pop quizzes the whole semester but you only needed to be there for one, and it didn't hurt your grade if you got some wrong.
Professor Reed is very knowledgeable and passionate about topics pertaining to IS, and it really shows through the extensive knowledge he shares during his lectures. Professor Reed is very friendly to approach and provides helpful responses to any questions we may have.
He is a great teacher and have 3 pop quizzes but only need to go to one so you dont lose credit.
Great professor. Straightforward course and expectations.
Do what is expected and there is no reason to not finish with an A
The course was great. I was able to follow along well. I learned a lot!
Professor Reed is a very chill instructor and is experienced in the Information Systems field. He cares about his students, and he communicates very well with everyone. Beware of pop quizzes (they are very easy). Overall, a useful class for business - you even get to build a website.
Professor Reed is a very good professor that is willing to go out of his way to help students succeed. The class wasn't hard and he gives very detailed instructions and study guides for projects and exams. Definitely try to get him as a professor, you won't regret it!
Professor Reed is awesome. There is one big website project which he does posts videos explaining exactly what to do for each step of the project. On those days where he posts videos he cancels class so you have time to work on your website. Assignments are easy and straight forward, he is very easy to contact if you have any questions!
Reed is a great professor and is extremely knowledgeable about IS, his lectures are straightforward and don't drag on to the point where you lose interest. There is a main website project that is easy if you work on it throughout the semester because it is completed in parts. Tests are just like the lecture and there is no homework.
Great Professor. Attendance is not required. Making a start-up business was quite difficult, so prepare to spend a lot of your time building the website. Also, make sure that you do the deliverables on time! The business process model was so confusing. Wish there would've been more examples on how to do that.
Reed is awesome. Great lectures and he cares about his students. Is301 had just a few assignments and he allows notes on tests as well. would take again
Honestly this class was very easy, you could honestly learn everything from just the lectures. Only word of advice I would give is actually start on your project a couple days before the due date because other wise you might not finish on time
Professor reed is awesome cant recommend highly enough
Adam Reed is a devoted teacher and is passionate about Information Systems. Just make sure to keep up with the project's dates.
IS 301 is just one big project that really only takes a couple of ours to finish. The exams aren't that bad either. Homework aside from the project was rare making the class super low stress.
I love professor Reed! He has so much experience in the Information Systems field and I actually understand the lecture when he teaches. I took IS 101 and IS 301 with him and received an A in both classes. I would totally recommend him to any student taking IS. Both classes have a Personal Website Project but for me they were super fun to make!
Super good professor, take him!
Straight forward class, grade is largely based on one assignment that spans the course of the class
With this class, you do not need to attend in person but a few times throughout the semester he gives extra credit for showing up. With the project keeping up with each part is crucial to you not falling behind. There are a few homework assignments at the beginning of the semester but towards the end, the project is all you really focus on.
Do the bare minimum as he says in the assignments and its smooth sailing especially for a 300 level class
Provides office hours if you ever have questions or need help with your website. Provides everything you need to succeed in the class.
Professor Reed is an excellent teacher. I found his lectures to be engaging and informative, and his assignments were always very clearly explained. While participation was not mandatory, I appreciated that he offered extra credit to those who went above and beyond. I had a good experience in his class and would highly recommend him as a teacher.
Few assignments worth a lot of points, but good professor
He is very nice and willing to help. There is a book but you do not need it as long as you watch the lectures. Make sure to attend the lectures or watch them via zoom as he goes over the material that will be on the exam. The exams are easy and you are allowed a single sided page of notes. He walks you through the steps of making your website.
Adam Reed was a great professor and gave great feedback to his students.
Very informative and clear expectations.
Great professor and such an easy class! If you need to take IS 301 or 101 I would 1000% recommend Professor Reed. In both classes you get to build a website as the main class project, and it was so fun and easy. Would definitely take Professor Reed again!
Great professor, easy to learn from, and overall a great person.
Adam Reed is a great professor. I was impressed with his lectures and the projects we had to complete for the class. He gave enough room on the projects to be creative but also follow a well thought out rubric. His exams could be a bit difficult but if you study the slides a lot you will succeed on the exams.
The syllabus outlines the work throughout the semester perfectly. Would recommend not waiting until the last minute to do projects and he is more than willing to help, if needed.
Overall Adam Reed was very supportive and offered multiple times through in class announcements and canvas messages to help on the final project and any other information that was needed.
Pretty easy class as long as you keep up. If you wait until last minute to do assignments then you will become stressed and assignments will seem harder than they actually are.
Easy class if you participate and put in the effort.
Pro: easy class and professor/he is helpful and respectful of his students/open book exams and not cumulative. Cons: the website creation shouldn't be required by ALL business students, I feel like new software make it so much more easier to set up e-commerce businesses.
Grades are a little tough, but if you follow the instructions exactly, you will get a good grade. He's very open to responses and will help you if you're in a bind. Overall would take his class again
Had him for 101 as well, exams are super easy if you watch the lectures. Personal blog for 101 is pretty self explanatory, business website for 301 also self explanatory, watch the lab vids and put in thought for both websites. He's pretty straightforward with his assignments and in general, overall definitely recommend taking him.
You can tell Adam is knowledgeable and experienced. Although his lectures can be boring his class is easy and assignments / quizzes are reasonable. A few assignments such as simulations are a grind, but the class overall is very doable.
Decent Professor. Helpful if you have a question but lectures can be boring. Get the online simulations done early and the course becomes a lot easier come the end when they are due every week. Just follow along and you will get at least a B
Attendance is completely optional with zoom recording for every lecture, which was very nice as there were a few days that I couldn't make it. I definitely would recommend going to class though. Almost all of the assignments had several submission tries, so I was able to get full points on everything except the tests.
