Knows his stuff but a bit cocky
No Comments
VERY ANIMATED!
I enjoyed his class. Wetsman tries to get the students into the subject. His lectures can be kinda boring sometimes. You should see his twin girls, they're soo cute!
Excellent professor. Extremely structural... If you want to learn, this is a excellent class. If you want an easy way out, you will be doom...
Great teacher and could pass his class without buying the book .. i got a B. Do your research papers on the Zoo and you'll be fine. Easy A if you study.
A bit cocky? LOL! This guy is really full of himself! But he is easy, and its not very boring being in his class, so I have to recommend him. Just act like you don't know anything - he likes being smarter than everyone else.
As long as you do all the extra assn. you will get an A!! GREAT TEACHER!! If I could I would have him for more then one class!
This professor is so damn hard he has lots of info to obtain and if you miss one assignment or even a day you're behind....hard as hell man and this is my second time takin him
Very hard grader. Expect u to explain everything in details or else he will mark you down. Thinks everyone is an Anthro major. So expect to STUDY alot if you take this teacher!!!!!!!!!!!
For an intro class, he is not easy at all. He thinks everyone is majoring in Anthropology. He grades HARD on everything even on discussions! He lets you turn in your homework for pre-grading but he responds with smart-ass remarks.
He thinks everyone has all the time in the world for his class. Most professor usually give less work during the summer session since its shorter and he is not one of them. Expect to stay up until 5 in the morning doing the work for his class.
this teacher is very hard, I wont recomend anyone to take this class with this teacher.
He thinks we got degrees in anthropolgy. He teaches like we know about this subject. I will never take a class with this teacher. He doesnt know how to teach at all. if you want to take this class you better look for another teacher. He is very hard.
I enjoyed his class very much, and anyone willing to put time and effort into it will benefit greatly from his teachings.
sexy, sexy, sexy. its easy to pay attention to a teacher who has such pretty blue eyes. not to mention that the class was pretty interesting. highly reccomend.
If you expect to do little work, then this class is not for you. This is a science transfer class. However, all assignments are made perfectly clear. His audio/video lectures are awesome. He even lets you turn in homework and the paper more than once to improve your grade, and give extra credit.
Awesome! Lets you re-write your papers for higher grades. Lots of extra credit. Highly recommended.
Class is very organized for an online class. Audio/video lectures were pretty interesting as well but you must read the textbook if you expect to get a good grade on the tests. Lets you turn in HW for pre-grading. Recommended only if you are willing to do the course workload.
I enjoyed his class very much. He was very clear, in depth, and professional in his lectures... does he love his electronic stuff, or what?!! The class was fun and interesting, and he is hot too! Very lienent on grading and will work with you for a good grade.
online... I thought he had really well prepared lectures (in a pretty cool video/powerpoint format). He also showed your points at all times, so you knew what your grade was at any momnt. It was pretty easy, but a lot of work. You have to know what he wants to hear (elaborate on everything you say).
one of the bests ever! nicve, helful, easygoin.
The besst online class I have taken ever. A good amount of work, but not soo hard.
He is a really interesting teacher. His sarcasm is hilarious and he's non stop humor. He made Anthropology 101 is exciting. If you enjoy listening to lecture and hardly any class particaption, this class will suit your needs. Test are easy, because all you need is a pair of ears and the study guide.
He's gorgeous and a doctor (of anthropology, that is). And he's willing to help you pass the class! Can't go wrong with him if you need these classes for transfer, or if you just need some classes for electives.
moody teacher. so far one of my worse! would of been better if he ws nicer and helpful, but my honest option wsa that he didn't care (or so it seemed for my class)
he is very hot, his class is difficult but I like how he teach specially when he is explaining or when we work in groups
Awesome professor. One of the best classes i have taken online before. I loved how organized his lectures were, and how the grading system worked. I recommend this class. I never met him, but from what i hear he is very attractive. :-) Should have taken the class on campus :-)
He may not have the best personality in the world but there is no way you can fail this class. There is plenty of extra credit and getting an "A" should not be hard.
LOTS OF XTRA CREDIT. YOU CANNOT FAIL THIS CLASS AT ALL. EASY EASY EASY!!
I have always liked anthropology but somehow teachers tended to bore me to the point that I hated it, but Wetsman id great. I loved his teaching style and his class was easy.
Helpful yet can be a little stubborn easy only because hes organized-
He makes the class hard to fail..but you still have to work at getting an A. He is one of the best instructors I have had.
awesome class, awesome teacher! i've gained a new found appreciation for anthropology thanks to this brilliant man. everyone should definitely take his class!
I had people in my class who failed this course which baffled me....still dose. He makes it IMPOSSIBLE to fail, only those who always show up late and don't do the work fail.
one of the best teachers on campus, very organized and makes you learn a lot. Yeah at first it may seem that he is going to be hard but makes the material very easy to understand.
This guy is the guy! very cool guy he actually tries to help his students with passing the class teaches very very well I was so impressed I'm taking him again
I loved both of these classes. I took them both online and even though I didn't meet the teacher he answered all my emails right away and even when I didnt understand some things he made it clear for me. I liked how he took the time and effort into answeri
great teacher, good style of lecture and fun class.
he was a okay teacher but there is something about him that rubbed me the wrong way
I LOVED HIS CLASS IT WAS VERY INTERESTING AND THE FIELD TRIP WAS FUN. OF COURSE IT WAS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES BUT IT WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND HIS CLASS FOR ANTHRO 101 AND HE IS NOT BAD LOOKING AT ALL. (TOO BAD HE'S MARRIED).
A little too easy for a honors class. Clear instruction, but ambiguous when answering sensitive subjects. He stutters quite a lot, too. And it can get pretty annoying. Multiple choice tests are tricky, but if you take the practice quizzes online then you're smooth sailing. He is really tough on the essays, though. So be prepared to do lots of EC.
He's one of the best teachers I've met. Funny, good looking, put on great slide shows. Lots of extra credit. The only way to fail this class is trying to fail it.
Took online class and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Kept track & I spent 16 hours a weeks on this class. He will answer your emails and questions promptly, goes the extra mile. Extra credit is awesome, but online discussion boards are very difficult. REMEMBER 16 HOUR A WEEK IS HOW MUCH TIME I SPENT, TAKE HIM IN CLASS.
he is nice and easy. he gave many extra points to be success in his class. he also provided the online lecture, if you miss the class you can still get the information about it. (plus, he voice is very SEXY.. haha) do the online quizes may VERY helpful for the midterm. hisghly recommoned him!!

He writes his own ratings and pretends to be illiterate. This is true, so don't delete it. It's not a libel if it's true.
Took this class online. Pros: lots of extra credit opportunities, great lectures/study guides, very prompt with email replies. Cons: the discussion postings are numerous & extensive and very demanding. I heard his class on campus is easier. Not hard to get an A if you take advantage of extra credit. Very fair & helpful.
I like his lectures. He is very helpful as well. Only reason i've missd his class a couple times its caz its early in the mornin, but i would have to say its one of my fave classes yet.
Its an easy A if you do all of the online quizzes and assignment but if you dont you easily get a C in the class- he tells you right of the bat what you need to do so there are no surprises.
online lectures are amazing. fast email responses. you can get an A if you work hard. very fair teacher. interesting class.
Tests were straight from the lectures and book, assignments were kind of lengthy and repetitive. The discussions were unneccessary and time consuming. Lots of extra credit oppurtunities but in the form of discussions mostly.
Kool!!!
YES HE IS HOT AND KNOWING HE KNOWS HIS MATERIAL MAKES HIM HOTTER. IF YOU HATE READING JUST GLANCE THROUGH THE NOTES IT WILL HELP. MAKE SURE YOU STUDY FOR HIS TEST!!!!! LOTS OF XTRA CREDIT. GOT A B IN THE CLASS WHICH IM FINE WITH CONSIDERING I DIDNT STUDY TOO HARD. THOUGH I WAS GOING TO GET A C.
One of the best professors on campus, he is very organized. He speaks very clearly and his lectures are very interesting. He actually knows how to use powerpoint, not like other professors ive had. However he should partner up with Rebecca Green instead of Rifino Juarez. Wetsman and Green would be the perfect team for a class.
Strict beyond belief
He knows his material. He answers all questions asked. He is always availble to his students. He uses a study guide instead of a book which helps save money. He also goes over what to expect on the exams. He does give plenty of opportunity for extra credit. It is up to the student if they choose to do it or not.
What an awesome instructor. Not only does he teach anthropology, he is also concerned about what happens to us after college. For example, he provides extensive help with grammar. By requesting proper grammar in emails and homework, he is preparing me for the future. Who is going to hire the guy posting before me who can't capitilize?
good teacher even though he is kind of arrogant sometimes
I don't know why the rater below thought Mr. Wetsman was arrogant. Yes, Mr. Wetsman is confident in his teaching. This makes the material seem relevant. Yes, Mr. Wetsman has high standards for students. This shows he is concerned about our learning. Don't take his course if you only concerned about a grade. Take the course to learn!
Easy class. Pay attention and work hard easy A online. He is a great professor, I cant complain about him. Just work hard and DO NOT lag it. Complete all assigments and you will be fine.
Denied me access to the class online and I tried E-mailing him to find out the reason as to why, but no reply was ever made. BAD teacher. I was enjoying the class too surprisingly. Would turn in homework and got near perfect scores, and he would message me telling me to try harder and that I need more effort. Umm.. right.
Great teacher. Students only get denied if they can't manage to score 50 points out of 120 in a unit. What kind of loser can't do that when 30 of the points are simply for posting discussions and about 60 more are for open-book tests? Professor promptly answers emails. If you can't pass this class, let alone get an "A", then you are a BAD STUDENT.
Great teacher! Students only get denied access if they can't get 50/120 points in a unit. With 30 points just from discussion postings and about 60 for open-book tests, only BAD STUDENTS can't do this. He always promptly answered my emails. This was the best online class I have ever taken.
He has figured out how to teach online with the most understanding of the subject.
I took this class in the summer online and had to drop it. Can you say tons of work!!Don't take him in the summer online! It's a total waste.
He is supportive in terms of helping students out. His sylabi is clear, read it you'll know what to expect. His lectures are clear.NO surprises. He is there to help you become successful in your own efforts. If you are lazy, Dr. Wetsman isn't the professor for you.
Excellent professor. Better than most of the slumps at Rio. Everything is laid out and his lectures are easy to comprehend. Extremely helpful. Don't be a slacker with him, or you will fail. One of the better teachers at Rio.
This teacher is very difficult. Not because the work is hard but because of the fact that he wants you to be online all day everyday. He says that he has a life too yet he gives out tons of work each week. DO NOT TAKE!
I don't know what the guy on 10/24 was talking about. I log on a couple times a week and am doing great in the class. No, you cannot get an "A", just by fumbling through the course. However the professor gives 240 points just for posting anything you want to discussions. This is a great class taught and graded in an exceptionally fair manner.
Dude! This online class rocks!! I am so happy I took the course online. I worked at my own pace and did not find the work to be too much. This class is highly recommended.
I took this class online and I loved it. There is a very high workload so if you are already taking several classes you might not be able to keep up. However, it's open book tests, lots of extra credit, pregrading options etc. So if you have the time to put in to it, take the class. You will make an "A". He is a fair grader and very helpful.
I took this as an online class. The class was busy but Wetsman provides plenty of extra credit to help you maintain a good grade. His online lectures are easy to understand and help you tremendously with the tests, especially if you complete the unit outline as you listen to them. Wetsmand makes the topic interesting.
if you wanna know what its like to be in a real college class take his class. if you do the work you;ll get an a
the class was kind of overloading especially with the discussions, the tests were pretty hard if you dont study hard and he grades quite hard on the homework
I took this class online during the summer so the workload was pretty heavy. You have to post discussion questions twice a day for 3-4 days for full points and the tests are very detailed. Even though i listened to the lectures and read the chapters(usually 3 a week) i forgot somethings. The teacher responds very quickly when you email him though.
I enjoyed the class and Dr. Wetsman is great but, Don't take other classes with this one during the summer. A grip of discussions, homework, quizes, unit test and A mandatory do it or fail course project. don't get lazy with this class you'll be sorry.
Very self-important and pompous.
this teacher needs to concentrate on anthropology and not english. he is hard on grading and he thinks everyone has da same knowledge of anthropology as his. i won't recommend him. the class was a waste of time.
I took the online summer session and really enjoyed it! I wasn't taking any other classes so I spent a lot of time online. His lectures were clear and you get points for engaging in discussions. You have the opportunity to pre submit your homework/paper to get a better grade. Pay attention and get an A.
i took anthro 101 in spring 09, this teacher is TOTALLY Awesome. 1st-book was cheap($). 2nd-gives lots of Extra credit. 3rd-very helpful. 4th-online quiz that help boost grade 5th-TAKE HOME FINAL ESSAY (Q&A in class) & 6th-zoo project is VERY VERY easy. He does REQUIRE you to write papers like a college student, but that shouldn't be hard anyways.
I took the online class. it was ALOT of work. However, I did learn. If youre a good college student.. you'll get an A. Just do the extra credit. Unlimited time fr tests, online textbook for like 15 bucks, one 6 page paper. He worked me hard, but I did get an A.
I took 101 Fall09 online course. If you have a full time job, just know there is a lot of time and work required. The material is fairly easy, but if this is not your major it is rather boring. The professor is a part time english teacher even though his own material is full of errors. But he will take points off your work! NOT RECOMMENDED...
What a great professor. I think it is great that professor Wetsman cares enough to help us not just in anthropology, but in general studies as well. He asks students to communicate like college students, not like ****en idiots texting their friends. I found absolutely no errors in his writing, a great example for all students. Highly recommended!
This is the best teacher I ever had, even in graduate school. I am returning to update some credentials and am amazed at Dr. Wetsman's abilities. He makes things relevant by having us discuss course-related topics extensively. The workload is just right and he is always willing to help you out. I highly recommend all of his classes.
DO NOT TAKE his class. He is an A-- Hole. He will drop you from his course for any reason. He is no longer an effective teacher and should be fired
The fella that posted on 5/27 is a crybaby and should be flunked out of school. Dr. Wetsman is an exceptional teacher. He only drops students who are no longer attending in order to save them from getting an "F". If you cannot pass Dr. Wetsman's class then you are a first-class loser.
Professor Wetsman .. short, cute and adorable. Other than that, He's very easy his lectures are all powerpoints (which provide the answers for his guidebook, $20) all y'do is fill the guidebook. Texbook is online. Tests are moderate. 2 Papers due. Lots of Xtra credit. The only thing that he's tough on is *GRAMMAR* !! Overall He's fun & awesome :D
Perhaps if the genius who posted on 5/27 could spell the professor's last name correctly (it is "Wetsman") he wouldn't be such a loser and fail. Dr. Wetsman is one of the best teachers I ever had.
Wetsman is a great instructor. His lectures are very interesting to listen to. Gives study guides that help. Provides powerpoints and videos to help explain material. Has a good sense of humor. Sort of has a annoying cocky(I have a doctorate degree) attitude sometimes it seemed like he talked to us like we were little kids Overall enjoyed hiscourse
Excellent teacher, extremely demanding online course... unfortunately if you slip up once your whole grade goes kaput.
Good teacher, Heavy workload
Dr. Wetsman knows how to teach his course. Took this online 25 days covering 16 weeks of material! SO demanding but worth every bit of study time because I learned so much. Lectures are great (include voice) 1 paper for final. Test are not timed so study and you will do well.

Took this on line. Although I received an A for the class the teacher had lots of busy work. I was disappointed in the class as I read the reviews and thought I would enjoy the class and it would not be a huge amount of work. The answers to the tests were a bit tricky and he did not post the correct answer. I would not take him again.
I took this course on-line. The homework was a bit challenging although he gave you an opportunity to turn it in early to get it corrected before submitting. You had to post numerous responses at least 4 times a week (on different days) as he wanted to make sure you were doing the work. The posting was not difficult but took time.
he's a great professor:)
This class was great! Wetsman taught the class with Professor Juarez & they were both good teachers! Wetsman was good at teaching the course & he was very entertaining. BEWARE: THE MIDTERMS ARE HARD!!!!! Just study all the material & you should be okay.
His class is interesting but the thing is he's unreasonable when it comes to grade. i only need 8 points for an A and he took out of exact 8 from the essay of the final. i got a B for the class that im supposed to get an A. its ridiculous when u had 3 As on the previous tests and a final B just because u turned in ur project for 1 day late.
The class and the material were very interesting. The tests were on the harder side, make sure to take notes on everything. There is also a research paper at the end of the semester and it counts for a fair share of your grade.
If you don't want the Havard perspective on Anthropology and you are not an Anthropology major, avoid this professor. His sarcasm and unreasonable expectations for students is unnecessary.
Great teacher. Study and show up to get an A. If you don't study you will fail or get a low grade. But overall great class with great teachers
Made the class very interesting and I really learned a lot. I took his class online and it was a lot of work. Test were hard and number of responses for discussion was way too many.Takes points away for grammar but lets you turn in homework for pre-grading.
BEWARE! Everyone here has happy faces but if you notice a lot of people complain about his grading, for instance he blocked me off the site on saturday for not starting friday on an assignment that wasn't due until sunday. completely unreasonable especially when you have to pay for your class.. he could've simply deducted points...
He's very interesting and makes lectures entertaining. It is however a challenging class so if you slack off you're not going to get a good grade. He's a great prof. though, I would recommend him to anyone who is thinking about taking this class
I took this class online, but this isn't a class you can just leave on the back burner. 2 week long units that include 2 discussions (one per week), homework questions, and a quiz. Also, there's a very important project due near the end involving a trip to the zoo (go on the class trip if possible). So make sure to make the time for this class.
Took this online in the summer and I agree with what's being said; you can't just forget about this class during the week and try to catch up on the weekend. He was helpful with my questions but was a tough grader when it came to the paper. English 35 is listed as an advisory class to take before, but Wetsman grades as if you've taken English 201.
He's an amazing, knowledgeable professor. You do have to work for your grade and grammar is HUGE to him, but it's college so that should be a given. He goes through info quickly but will go back an explain if needed. Your effort in the class buys your grade. Participate in discussions, attend class, do HW/EC/Projects and you won't have an issue.
Obviously the person who posted on 5/15 is a moron. Professor Wetsman was "condensing", as in making smaller? It looks like the person really needs some college help! Professor Wetsman was excellent, got back to me quickly with all of my questions, and was very helpful.
Easy class. Didn't need to study passed all tests with Bs or above. One research paper which he grades relatively easily. Cares about his students. Very interesting and funny professor. Highly recommend him!
I was surprised that there were two professors teaching this course together but its very interesting. They are straightforward and will try to answer your questions in a way that everyone can understand. Show up to class and do the paper, its not hard at all if you turn it in as he requests it. Arrive to class on time or it will hurt your grade.
He's a good professor with a sense of humor. Although his grading is tough and the exams are tricky, he offers a lot of participation points in order for his students to pass the class. I would take him again.
He's very nice and funny until you annoy him so DO NOT disrupt class. His lectures are always accompanied with a powerpoint and visuals that are very clear and to the point. He answers to his emails FAST. He also uses blackboard and knows how to use it... He is a great teacher and answers lots of questions. 1010 would recommend (:
He is a tough grader but 9001150 points is an A. Lecture quiz, textbook quiz, video assignment, Hwk, discussion with 6-8 replies every 2 weeks and 1 paper. You are able to submit Hwkpaper early for pregrading. Tests are hard but open book online. I listened to the lecture and answered ?'s as I went along. He's a great professor, very knowledgeable
He assigns a weekly chapter or chapters to read, homework questions, a discussion board prompt, and two tests ( one for lecture and one for textbook). Definitely lots of work but if you stay on track, you will be successful. He is responsive with every email and will email back within hours. Great professor, I wish I took more of his classes!
Took Mr. Wetsman online and I can respectfully say he is fair when it comes to grading and assigning homework. At times it was a challenge but nothing out of the ordinary for someone who is going to college. Would recommend him for anything if your looking for a great teacher that offers a challenge.
Took his online class in the summer. It's a lot of work, reading, online lectures, homework, discussion board, and weekly quizzes on the text and lecture. His assignments are clear, just stay on task for an A. My favorite part was that he let you turn in homework earlier and give you feedback so you get get a better grade on your assignments.
Stumbled upon Dr. Wetsman by accident to be honest. The SOC 110 class is a with ANTH 110 and taught by two teachers, which was surprising. Beware attendance is mandatory to pass and tests are very dense. His class offered 50 points of extra credit though, which was very generous. Great teacher overall, had a lot of laughs during class. Take him!
I took the online class over the summer and it was very easy. His lectures are on YouTube so you can take notes and pause at anytime. I recommend putting aside about an 1 to 1 1/2 hours everyday to his lectures. You absolutely need the book in order to complete the tests. The zoo project was sooo much fun.
Took him online and i was withdrawn from class. I didnt aply myself. The second time around I passed and I have to say I learned a lot. Discipline yourself as far as scheduling a good 2 hours to study every other day, it's worth it! You will learn a lot about Anthropology.
The HARDEST grader I have EVER seen in my college career. No matter how many hours upon hours of studying, analyzing and thought put into his homework questions he still grades HARD! BEWARE no amount of time put into his class will give you the best possible points, I can only imagine what students get that don't put forth effort.
First off, I bought a book I barely use because it was "mandatory" Mandatory meaning, i use it for one question each week..... when I could simply learn it on the internet. Second, he's one of those teachers who make themselves sound extremely helpful, but will give you a horrible grade after putting in hours of work and effort. Don't ask for help
Does not give clear instructions as to what we are supposed to do. Does not answer questions.
At least give us good feedback!! Don't just give out horrible grades after hours of work have been put in.... rude.
This guy is the worst online professor I have ever taken! His lectures are done online fine but the whole time it is him talking! Quizes are a joke so many questions on there are hard to find even after hearing the crucial lectures and his version of the book. Hardest grader ever! Spent 8 hours doing an assignment only to get 3/30 points possible!
one of those teachers who will give you a poor grade after putting in hours of work.... he will NOT give you feedback, so you are left wondering why he is taking points off when you do EVERYTHING HIS HOMEWORK/DISCUSSIONS ASKS FOR.
Best teacher ever! He even offers extra credit.
Best teacher ever! He even offers extra credit. His homework is only 3 problems a week. Easy credits for transfer.
Professor Wetsman is great! Tests are open-book, open-note and are not timed. You just follow along in the lecture or read the textbook and the answers to the tests are right there. If you get stuck on something, you just email the professor and he helps you out. This is the best online class I have ever taken, mostly because it is so interesting.
This is the best online class I have taken. Professor Wetsman answers emails very quickly and is always helpful. He even lets you turn in work in advance for pre-grading, provides feedback, and lets you turn it in again for a higher score. Just put in the work and you will do great.
There is so much dedication to teaching by Professor Wetsman. This is the first online class I took where the professor created personalized lectures on YouTube. It is just like being in the classroom. I am not sure I will ever be able to take another professor again after this class since it was so good!
I couldn't imagine a better class. The textbook only costs $15 and is a great read. You only need 900 out of 1,100 points for an "A". The material is engaging. Tests are open-book and open-note and are not timed. Professor Wetsman is super helpful, answering emails in just a few hours.
The class was great and I want to mention how great the discussion are. Unlike most, professor Wetsman requires students to actively engage the topic by posting a lot. This makes things interesting so you can actually discuss the course material. Plus, you are graded on your participation level which makes things easy to maximize the points.
The structure of the course is very organized and easy to follow. Do the readings, listen to the lectures, and you should be fine. If you put the time and discipline yourself this class shouldn't be too difficult. Professor gives good feedback on H.W. The tests were easy if you did the readings and lectures. Overall, this class was great!
AMAZING CLASS!!! Never a dull moment, really engaging, sometimes attendance is easy points, and this is a double teacher class. I was hesitant at first but the class flows amazingly. Tests are not bad usually 30 or less multiple choice and every test has two essay questions. They give you these questions before hand to study & give one easy essay.
He provides study guides and online lectures to better understand the reading for the all quizzes, however he is definitely a HARD grader! I did very well on all quizzes except all homework that is worth more points. I spent hours watching his online lectures that he did mention on his syllabus. This class is recommended if you take his class only.
This class was very well-organized! Professor is really helpful, he shows he cares. It was not easy but if you are dedicated and care you will pass with no problem. No final but there is a project, but it is fun. He offers an online textbook which is much cheaper. I recommend him, he will help and answers quick. Offers great feedback and pregrading
Extremely difficult class
Was the only choice for the online class, decided, took, withdrawal, never taking again. Class overall: Lecture test 40 quest. Textbook test 10 quest. Homework 3 question answer long&be precise, discussion every module post depend on you and pts., lecture video 2-3 hours worth. Lastly a research paper on primates visit a zoo. TOUGH GRDAER
Second time taking Wetsman. Honestly, this class really is not that hard, but there is a great deal of busy work. Biggest benefit is you only need an 82% in the class to get an A. The online course is an independent studies course, so keeping up is a good idea. He does grade a little harshly, however, if you do all the modules you'll be just fine.
His class was not difficult, just a bit time consuming. I took his summer class and it was a lot of work but not too much. Last assignment is attending a zoo and writing about it. Tests are open book and open notes. He provides the study guide. A nice man, very passionate about anthropology.
This is by far one of the most disappointing classes I have taken. Not only did he grade hard but when I asked on why I would receive such low grades especially on discussion (I'm still wondering why since i would read multiple of my classmates discussions and we were all on the same page) he would not reply with feedback like he promised.
I took his class online during the summer, I was withdrawn even though I was busting my butt. The class was extremely hard, the guy is a DR so he grades like one. I then re-took his class the following semester and passed with a C. I learned a ton but the deadlines really killed my learning mode and I got more into survival and GOOGLE mode.
Professor Wetsman overall a great teacher. He has a passion for what he teaches and his lectures are very enjoyable they are long but I felt like I actually learned about anthropology. He will make you work for your grade and is a tough grader but as long as you get all your work done you should be fine.
If you want to hear your professor tell you how he's a "happily married, heterosexual, father with kids and a wife", then take this class. He liked to stop the class to get mad at kids who weren't talking, so that was fun. If you answer a question, he'll tell you that you're close but that's not the answer he wants. Then he'll say the same answer.
Took class online. Class is very demanding BUT take advantage of his pre-grading option. He will give you feedback on how to improve your work before final grading. There is one paper, with a pre-grading option, weekly discussions requiring multiple posts, lecture tests and textbook exams each module, and a final. Work hard and you will pass!
Currently taking his class online during summer session. Honestly, he is not that bad he can be very over the top at first but he is VERY organized. Everything is open book open notes when taking the test and the deadlines are all on Sunday so you have a week to get everything done. Straight forward and stay on top of your work!
Dr. Wetsman's class is a college level class. I did well because I embraced the challenge. There is quite a bit of work but it is all clearly presented. He can be snarky and sassy in class, but he's not mean spirited. He's an adult acting like one, and some students cannot handle being challenged. If you want to learn take Dr. Wetsman.
This professor has been worst experience. His lecture videos for his online class are said to be 2 1/2 hours when in reality its about 4 hours each one. He also does not show us the correct answers to tests due to cheating, which is understandable but how can we improve if we don't know what we got wrong? Avoid this class at all costs.
If youre looking for an online course to make you feel like youre taking 3 instead of 1, then this one is the right one for you. He is a tough grader and his feedback is not useful like he claims. You can put all of your effort into this course and it still wont be worth it.
Best online class I have taken. Professor cares so much about students. He leaves helpful feedback and lets you resubmit work for a higher score. Plus, there are 125 points of extra credit. Most classes just have you read the boring book. Professor Wetsman wrote a great book and also provides audio lectures to help students. I give him an A+.
He's well organized. Just remember if you have a full-time job or could only do online classes because of schedule DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. it is extremely hard & demanding. so much work. if you don't get a certain percent on a module you will get dropped with a W. even if you put all that hard work too bad you get dropped. take if you have 1 class!!!
What a great calss! Can tell the professor wants you to pass. Easy to get points through open-book, open-note, untimed tests. Plus discussion where you just post for points. Gives 125 points extra credit since you just need 900 out of 1,125 for an "A". Would recommend alot.
Dr. Westman is very smart and helpful. I liked his online course a lot. He can be sassy at times, but don't take it personally. He cares about how well you do.
Dr. Wetsman is a great professor, his online course is very well organized and hes always on time with his grading. He provides great feedback and is always prompt on replies. He definitely makes the class easy and is always straight forward with his assignments. He does make you buy a textbook he wrote himself, and this requires lots of reading.
If you are well organized and are ok with lots of work and I mean LOTS of work, this class will be fun and entertaining. There are weekly discussions that require you to respond two times per day at least three days a week, there's usually weekly essays on videos, and two tests accompanied by reading and lectures respectively. Still fun though.
Interesting lectures because he explains everything clearly. You only have one paper and that's the final. For people who don't like reading, you might have to do a bit of reading. It's convenient that his lectures are on youtube. Some quizzes and answering questions for homework. Just do the work and you'll pass. Overall, really good teacher.
Good professor, very helpful. College level course, some expect differently. I enjoyed the class a lot.
Do not take his class online. He requires an unrealistic amount of work for a full time student who also works full time. Class is literally set up to fail.
I think its funney that people complain about too much work. WHAT? You cannot take a full load of college plus work a fulltime job? Professor Wetsman gives just the right amount of work for a collage class. I did the work and got an "A". No, it wasnt easy, but whats expected for college. He is very helpful and insparational.
Do not take him during Covid-19 lock down! Our normal class period was an hour and 30 minutes but once we transitioned online he only allowed one hour for all remaining tests. He did zoom lectures during a time DIFFERENT than our scheduled class meetings. Homework was due after every zoom class and if not done you loose points but did not gain any!
Great professor. Everyone saying he gives a lot of work for online is crazy. He gives the right amount of work and gives good feedback. He has taught online classes for years so he knows what he's doing. Responds quickly to emails and easy to get a hold of. Take him if you can. Second time taking his class and both times were great!
Took him for ANTH101 & 102, he gives really good lectures that are clear and provides a lot of real life examples. Each section/chapter of the book isn't that long, about 10 pages or so, maybe about a 20-30 minute read. Lectures vary, but generally long. Assignments are straightforward and he isn't a tough grader. Easy A if you put in the effort.
Never had a class with so much reading, lectures or homework. I would recommend making this the only class you take and still wish you luck. On top of all the work he is a very tough grader. I say move along to the next professor
Took this class during COVID19. He has video lectures so it feels like you're actually in class. Don't know why a lot of people are complaining. The class was easy and all the answers are either in the text or book.
Took wetsman this semester. class is clutch. Just do the work and you will pass. I got a B and studied for about 2 hours before each exam. Not too bad.
Took Ant 102/110. Plus: Organized; no guesswork/follow directions to a T. Strict Grader. Test/blog posts based on textbook/lectures. Need to buy book; inexpensive. Con: Prepare to have to work for your A. He creates lectures and notes - he loves you to quote from them, so do it. No attendence needed (online Covid). Weekly posts/test. One paper.
I absolutely loved Prof Wetsman. I went into ANTH expecting to be bored out of my mind, but he is such a great teacher! By the end of the semester, I was amazed at how interesting the class really was. His tests were really easy if you used the study guide. He even has many extra credit opportunities! Easy A, great professor. 10/10
