Dr. Wood not only cares about your education, but is very helpful with career pathways and internship advice!
The guy loves what he does and makes sure you can get things done as best as possible.
Looked forward to having class with Adam. Really enjoys talking to the students and engaging with them during the lectures. Funny comments would usually come about during those conversions. He really does spend the time to make sure students understand the material outside of class. Is very accessible for any questions, even unrelated to class.
Dr. Wood clearly cares a lot about what he does, and it shows in his class. The class is challenging, but Dr. Wood makes sure to both explain and keep you interested in the material. Also gives good advice for careers and internships.
Great professor, very forgiving when it comes grading, and allows you to learn from your mistakes rather than punishing you for them, like so many other professors do. Dr. Wood recently graduated and is a newer professor, so he brings a refreshing teaching style that, in my opinion, is much better than the norm.
Very good professor who shows great interest and passion for the material as well as the students as he makes sure we truly are comprehending the material so that have a good understanding of the course.
Love his powerpoints, problems are based on real life examples.
He is a young professor but really cares for the education of his students. He grades hard at times but allows you to correct it and really wants the student to succeed.
A young bright professor that always strives for the best out of you. He will always take on questions from the students and help them understand the topic with further demonstrations.
The homeworks take some time to complete but Adam goes over extremely similar problems in class. Overall, I enjoyed the class and would take it again.
He is a hard working teacher with the ability to learn from his mistakes.
New Professor who has done a nice job in his first year. Can learn from mistakes and makes adjustments accordingly.
Great Prof would take again
Very fun class and super interactive! A bit shallow on the answers but mainly because he wants you to work for your grade but eventually he explains it to you! Really good teacher.
The homeworks can be rough. You will spend a lot of time on the homeworks and they are worth a hefty portion of your grade. He is a fan of oral exams. Dont be afraid to ask questions. He likes to communicate a lot with the class.
Adam tries to be a good teacher, but is often inaccessible outside of class. He is slow to grade homework and grades it very harshly. He is new and inexperienced, and the way he explains topics can be very hard to understand for students. However, he is somewhat caring (if he's in a good mood) and genuinely wants his students to succeed.
Dr. Wood or as he wants you to call him, Adam is a very caring professor. For his first year at SVC I believe he is doing an incredible job. He really cares for you as a student and will push you.
He is one of the best professors that I have had. He loves working and teaching students. That is why he is one of the best. I think he is a good deal.
Dr. Wood is a fantastic professor who is always willing and able to elaborate and explain topics further. Very thorough in topics and moves at a good pace. Very good class.
Adam is a great teacher, inexperienced but with that being said, he will improve from his first semester. Takes a while to grade homework, can be hard on homework but at the same time if you do it right you won't lose stupid points. The grading was homework heavy. He doesn't always necessarily help with questions but he's good to talk to.
Dr. Wood is still a pretty good professor who is very accessible and will assist you as long as you ask. Although at times it feels like there is a disconnect between what the students know and what he thinks they know. Be ready to spend time doing your homework as they are each worth about 10% of your grade
Homework formatting is a pain
No matter how hard you may find the course material, he will help you as much as he can along the way because he genuinely wants you to do good.
He's a good teacher. A little fast on lectures so it's bet to not go in with the expectation you're going to write everything down. The homework format could be reworked. For example, most students write down the process for how they plan to solve the homework problems after they've already solved them.
Any professor that makes the mid-term a group project is a great teacher in my book. The homework often has subtle tricks that are easy to miss, but they are graded in a very fair manner and the resubmissions make them doable. The lectures do go a bit fast and sometimes its hard to keep up. Overall a great course and teacher.
As a graduating senior with a decent course load I found the course easy to followed the workload was more than manageable. The Midterm was changed to group project where student were tested on their ability to apply the knowledge learned in class, and bonus points were up as a prize to be won for the best design.
Dr. Wood is also very helpful outside of class with resumes and job searches!
Super helpful with job searches and life advice in general
Gives massive homeworks
Gives massive homeworks.
The professor has a passion for teaching and it shows. His lectures are one of only a few that do not put me to sleep, and they thoroughly explain the course material.
I want him to teach every Engineering course.
Love the project assignment
Project oriented class, worth the time to take the class with Adam, but there is a lot at times.
Good teacher but difficult course for myself
Project based class - easy if you show up because most of the work can be completed in class. Super fun class
Dr. Wood is a good professor who cares a lot about the material and students. He is a tough grader but willing to help with any and all questions. He also invests time in the development of the student as a person outside of class if the student is interested.
Adam assigns a decent amount of homework but gives you at least a week to complete it. He does grade it tough but there is an opportunity to resubmit it, fix your mistakes, and get some points back.
Adam is very passionate about what he is teaching. He really wants you to understand where equations come from, and he is willing to answer any questions.
Good Professor and keeps it interesting.
Very good professor
Adam is a very caring Professor. In my opinion, I wish every Prof would teach their class just like he does. You can tell he really knows his stuff, and is a very personable person. Adam is very energetic, which makes for class to be more interesting.
Adam is a young teacher that understands our generation of students. He is very lenient in his work load and is understandable and enjoys meeting students outside of class to give extra explanations on homework or misunderstood topics. Definitely would take again!
I have taken Dr. Wood's Classes many times before and he is consistently a great professor. I cannot recommend that you take him enough if you can. His main goal is that you learn the material and become a better engineer, not memorize the book as some professors do.
The "gold standard"if you will of professorship at Saint Vincent College. Very respectful with students, and easy to get along with. His goal is to make you be a better engineer, not someone who can regurgitate information from a book. Be prepared to think critically!
Dr. Wood is a really great professor. He uses pdf's for the textbooks so you don't have to purchase one. His grading is very straightforward and he gives you chances to redo missed problems on homework and earn a large percentage of the points back. He cares about the students and wants everyone to do their best.
Adam is a great professor that really cares about the students. He makes sure you understand the material and teaches it in a great way. Would take his classes again!
A professor that really cares about what he is doing and wants students to retain the material as best as possible. Not too much homework and plenty of time to get it done. Great guy and class
Adam did a good job teaching materials for his first time. We got a little behind in the syllabus but we covered all the necessary topics.
Professor Wood is a very personable and down to earth person. He prefers people to call him by his first name, and he tries to make class engaging by using real world examples, and physical representations of what we are learning. He has strict grading criteria, and a format, but allows for retakes the next week. Most of the grade is homework.
I loved his class. He is very engaging with students and truly cares about their success in the class. A few weeks into the semester he changed the lecture structure for the sole purpose of trying to get the information to us in a manner that we would understand more. Definitely one of those teachers who make you love to learn.
Very engaging teacher. He does not care what grade you get in the class as long as you truly understand the material. There are multiple redo attempts on homework that allow the student to really make sure they understand the material instead of a more bulimic teaching style. Takes time to engage with all students and build trust in his teaching.
Adam is one of those professors that really inspires you to learn and take the material seriously. He wants everyone to do well and as such he decided to change his lecture style so that the material was easier to learn. The homework is straightforward and the tests follow suit. Lots of note taking, but he explains everything very well.
He emphasizes that you attend class. Your homework is worth more than exams because he wants you to make sure understand the material. That means the exams are easier than the homework. He also allows you to earn 85% of your points back with homework resubmissions. He's not tense and tries to get you motivated about the material.
The class consists of online homework that is given every other week. A lot of the class is writing down class material and he provides diagrams per topic online that you can access. He's relaxing and provides help if you have questions about the class lecture or homework.
For material lab you are pretty much engaged in doing physical lab work and it can be quite fun at times. He is relaxing and isn't tense during lab. The guidelines for the lab report are given and they are graded fairly. He also doesn't grade them right away.
Dr. Wood is a great professor and one of my favorite ones that I have ever had. He cares about each student in the class and he makes sure that each student is understanding the material that is covered. He calls on multiple students in class and he always makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. Overall, fantastic class.
Lecture heavy, but overall a great class. Dr. Wood is a great professor and ensures that each student is paying attention. This class is difficult since the exams are the only grades, but they are open note. This class is tough if you don't take good notes, but if you do, you will be fine. A good class for the most part and Dr. Wood is marvelous.
The most fun lab I have ever taken. Dr. Wood is always answering questions and providing honest feedback. He makes sure that you are understanding the material and he is accessible outside of class. He cares about each student and always provides different ideas for each student to take into consideration. He does not play favorites and he is fun.
One of the most caring professors I have had. Makes sure you really retain as much as possible through the course. Does not make you regurgitate information from the textbook, instead he makes you think critically and intuitively to help you prepare for future problem-solving skills.
A decent amount of exams based around homework and textbook readings. Lectures can be very long and boring, but overall he makes sure we think about problems critically and intuitively. Overall, a very caring and respectful teacher, who really wants his students to succeed.
His friendliness and industry experience allow him to connect with each student. The homework he assigns is weighted heavier than any exam, encouraging students to resubmit homework assignments and meet with him to ask questions so that they can improve their grade. He also cares about success after college- one assignment was to edit our resumes.
Adam jumps at any opportunity to get the class involved in a discussion. The lectures were long but I think it was because of the time the course was scheduled. Still, he is the best professor for the job. Part of the lab section of the course included a trip to an offsite metallurgical lab, which was an excellent application of what we learned.
Really makes sure you have a good understanding of material by having you apply what you have learned in class to the homework and examples. Gives good feedback if you are struggling and wants you to succeed. Even though class was later in the afternoon I always felt engaged and excited to learn.
Adam is a truly understanding professor. He gives time to his students upon request and will gladly answer questions. His concern is not with grading or overcomplicating work but with his students ability to comprehend the material.
Adam is good at knowing when his students do not understand a topic. He takes the time to go over in class topics that are not well understood. He does not go into too much depth in lecture but instead takes the time for students to understand broader topics.
He is very funny and understands students. I like how he is very close with students.
Adam is a great professor, and has the ability to explain challenging topics easily. He also makes class fun with his up-beat personality. Probably my favorite college professor that I've had.
I have had Adam for multiple classes this semester and for each one I took he was great. He grades fairly and any work he has you do usually helps you to understand the material. Adam is always very engaging and you can tell he really cares about how his students do in his class.
Adam Wood is good at what he is passionate about. He really loves teaching and being involved with his students. Adam is super friendly and understanding. His classes are challenging, but he presents information in a clear way so that students can better understand the course material.
Adam is good at what he is passionate about. He really loves teaching and being involved with his students. Adam is super friendly and understanding. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had.
Adam is good at what he is passionate about. He really loves teaching and being involved with his students. Adam is super friendly and understanding. Adam really cares about how well you know the material and skills learned during lab.
The material can seem like a lot, but Adam makes sure to teach it to you in as clear and simple of a way as possible that you can have full confidence that what you are doing is efficient and correct.
He's very open for suggestions on how his teachings are going and if it could be done better. He's is also available outside of class if you need assistance with homework or want to ask questions about things you missed on a homework or test. Also doing homework is "IMPORTANT" make sure to do it and do the resubmissions to earn points back.
Adam is very passionate about all the engineering classes that he teaches. During his lectures he makes sure to keep everyone involved. He makes sure that each student has a grasp of the material before moving on to the next subject. He is very approachable and always willing to offer his help to students.
Dr. Wood cares about students and encourages them to be creative.
Dr. Wood is a really great professor. He's not easy by any means, but he provides the support necessary to do well in his classes. He does grade really harsh, but that's because he's worked in the real world and understands the consequences of a wrong answer. He's also very open to meeting outside of class!
Dr. Wood has very clear lectures and really makes sure that each student fully understands each topic.
Dr. Adam Wood is a great professor and I really like his teaching style. He emphasizes lectures and homework and he cares about each student's ability to understand the material he is covering. He calls on people but doesn't put too much pressure on them, which I like. Overall he is a really great professor, and I would definitely recommend him.
I really enjoyed Dr. Wood's class. He was always open to any questions a student had and was very helpful when students were struggling. He was not a bad grader and overall a very enjoyable class. I really liked how he made our final a take-home one. Even though it was very difficult and took a lot of time, I felt a lot less pressure doing it.
It is always a pleasure learning from Dr. Wood. He is eager to learn about students' lives outside the classroom and ready to brighten the discussion for the day
Great teacher, brings in the energy and always willing to help
He's a good teacher and helps with internships and class work questions.
Makes a large portion of your overall grade based on homework grades. This is great because the majority of the work you do in the course is homework. He is open to giving guidance in your search for jobs and/or internships. Very insightful in preparing you for life after college.
Dr. Wood is a great professor that is very supportive of his students. Both in and outside of class he is always willing to help anyone that needs it. His classes are typically homework based. The homework assignments are hard but he lets you correct any mistakes that you make on them.
Adam explained complicated topics in a way that made it easier to understand by going through lots of examples in class. He really wants students to understand what they are doing and apply the topics to a variety of problems. Having most of our grade based on homework gave me chance to take my time and really understand the material.
I really enjoyed this class, it was fun to apply what I have learned in Materials Engineering and Statics to solve new types of problems. Adam did a good job of explaining each of the topics and how they were connected. He was almost always available to ask questions and is great to talk to about career advice.
Man is great, never have had an issue in his course. The homework is hard however he gives us a lot of time to complete it and is generally able to help you if you are struggling through it.
Adam is great at helping you understand difficult material. For instance I haven't had a materials course when I took this class so even when I should have had prior knowledge of material and I didn't I was able to figure out how everything worked together.
The teaching style is great, especially with the constant use of examples and how they tie to the real world. It helps with a better understanding of the material. He is also accessible outside of class which is great for when you have questions and don't want to wait until class time. Really cool teacher!
Overall, Adam is a great professor to have! I'm fortunate that I was able to have him at SVC. Very inspirational and very willing to help his students succeed!
If you have an opportunity to take this course with Adam as the professor, TAKE IT. Amazing experience to say the least.
Adam shows so much enthusiasm in each of the courses he teaches. It is impossible to NOT want to have him as a professor. The only difficult part about this course was the homework problems. Other than that, if you put your all into it and can come to class consistently, your hard work will pay off.
Attendance is necessary to pass. Make sure you do the homework's, they are worth more than exams because he cares about you learning the material than just passing the class and moving on. He is pretty casual and humorous at times. Be respectful of his time and he will respect yours as well.
Effective teacher. Content can be difficult, so good notes are a necessity. Heavy focus on lectures, but very helpful.
He is a great professor, he uses many different examples not just textbook ones, but actual structural examples. He provides us a lot of time for homework and lets us return it in for a better grade. He has a good sense of humor and makes the class fun.
Overall, Adam has been an effective instructor this semester. He gives homework approximately weekly, however you usually have about a week to turn it it. I really like that he also accepts homework resubmissions on problems that are missed after initially grading the homework. This helps with comprehension of the material along with a grade boost.
He is good at teaching and explaining the topics in the class. It is primarily based on homework, but he takes resubmissions for 85% of the original points and is always open to helping with the more difficult problems.
One of the best professors I have had so far. He WANTS you to learn and doesn't just teach to teach. He goes over numerous examples in class before even giving out a homework, so that you are heavily prepared and know what to do when the homework and exams come along. I would recommend him to anyone and would 10 out of 10 take him again.
This professor is pretty good but has very few dates on the syllabus so it can be hard to plan out the semester in advance and see when busy times will be and when an easy week is going to happen.
His lectures are clearly explained and he helps outside of class. If you have the chance take a class with him.
Dr. Wood is an amazing person. Even though his class is pretty difficult, he is willing to take the time to help his students understand the material. He is also one of the most caring individuals I have ever met. When I went through a tough time this semester he sat down and talked to me about the issue and I am very grateful for that.
Dr. Wood makes sure that you're paying attention in class by keeping you engaged and calling on random students.
Great teacher. Makes the class fun while still explaining the topics very well. You will get some tough homework but he gives you a bunch of time to get it completed.
He gets to know everyone's name in the class, and during the lecture, he calls on students by their names to make sure everyone understands the material and asks if there are any questions. Also when the material gets tough he tells some jokes to lighten up the room and get the students engaged. Adam is overall a Great (Very Funny) Professor!!
Dr. Wood is a very good teacher, he is a very good people person. I would highly recommend for any ENG class.
Dr. Wood is a good professor. However, he will give easy examples in class and make the homework harder than what we learned which can be frustrating at times. But he does make time to help out his students so it does even out to an extent.
