Worst teacher I have ever had. He does not explain anything, just does examples out of the book. A smart monkey or a dumb robot could do a better job. During his office hours he is surfing the web and downloading music. Also he does not speak good english.
bad, bad, engrish. Why he is teaching I do not know. Worst teacher ever.
He has a good grading method, lets you use a cheat sheet. His english is not a problem. Gives credit for attendance & h/w. He is pretty understanidng & lenient. I really enjoyed this class fearing the previous comments, but it turned out well & he's better than other prof. teaching 103.
I normally enjoy math, but after this class I lost all interst. I can not believe that they allow him to teach!!! If you like hearing about his political views and racial comments, then take the class. If not, stay as far away from him as possible. He's a joke!
He is a very interesting and out going teacher.
He is one of the teachers actualy cares for students. He had no problem explaining math problems. The method for his grading system was great. P.S. you need to be self motivate in order to get good grade.
he's a very funny and easy going teacher. he makes the class seem fun by telling jokes. always there to help during office hours or by email. he explains very throughouly. the grade system is fairly easy so this is a good class to take.
No one is perfect, I thnk he is smart and cool...
he's a cool & laid back professor. his english may not be so perfect, however he makes everything look easy. all u need to do is memorize formulas and you'll be fine on your tests. he is very lenient with quizzes which you'll have every week, but it's very straight forward. i enjoyed his class because he's real FUNNY.
This guy is a moron. He couldnt answer questions clearly didnt have a good plan for teaching and was totally useless when it came to doing anything except working examples already in the book.

Look he's a dork YES, He could be careless at times Granted. His english...well needs improvement OK! but in the end this guy sincerly wants his kids to pass so just take him. You might just have a laugh and even better PASS.
Can't speak proper English...likes to sing Avril Lavigne...confusing when teaching lessons...a bother when taking your midterm...but he will give you another chance to get a good grade if he sees the class is failing! I would say...avoid this teacher if possible!
Easy going instructor.I enjoyed this class.Just make sure you understand and know how to do all the examples he gives you cause most likely you will see them again on your midterm and final.
Hard to understand him in lecture. He's bad at explaining. His english is ok. But yea, he's nice, give u a chance to pass.
I understand him. He's able to clarify problems in ways that will help u understand. For the most part, his english is decent and his math skills are great. He's super chilled and very easy to get along with. recommended
He is a bad teacher, a lazy one if I might add.Has a thick accent and hard to understand. He is interested in being friends with his students rather than being a teacher. His class is a waste of time and energy. You're better off taking another teacher.
He's very laid back. You basically do the work yourself and he's just there to help you. But if you want to learn in any math class, do practice problems.
While other students make bad comments on this prof. I found that this prof. certainly not perfect but not bad at all. I agree that he has an accent but he is understandable. He will passed you if you just show up, that's bad but learn or not is student's responsibility. Practice HW and example you'll do well. I'm recommended him.
Awesome teacher! He enjoys the subject and makes it interesting. It's not an easy subject as it is, but he makes it not seem so bad. He does lots of examples. He is really helpful.
do not take him if u want to do well in math. terrible ! too many bad, young, unprepared math professors
Funny and nice.He sometimes make mistakes, but he has a strong responsibility for the class.I recommend him.Do not worry if you do not test well in the exams since he will give you a good mark after all.
I like Mr. Zheng's style of teaching. He is funny, energetic, and always willing to answer questions. However, he is not easy. Nonetheless, Adam Zheng is a great teacher who I strongly recommend. By the way, you will pass the class if you pass the final.
If you are like me and math is not your subject i would not suggest taking this teacher. Especially with math i need a prof. that will encourage me and he definitely did not do that at all. He basically did all the work for you and his explanations were unclear and too quick to catch. Do not take him!!!!! After two years this is the first class
This professor is an o-kay teacher however if you just want to get by through math take him he is and easy grade. If you like a challenge or some one who is a bit more rigorous take some one else.
This professor is easy in the sense that his tests are accurate reflections (sometimes carbon copies) of the class examples + HW. His grading system is also flexible. However, conceptual explanation is crucial to understanding calculus & his wasn't the clearest(compounded by the fact that he has an accent). Get help if needed. He is friendly & funny
Very helpfull, fun, interesting.. an overall great professor. The exams are a little hard, his study guides are helpfull. most of the problems on the study guide are on the exam. If you pass the final you pass that class... make sure to take him...
He teaches at PCC, and is pretty good. Actually he is lovely PERIOD! Student friendly and always willing to help!
Awesome professor. Meets you halfway. I despise math but he really spoon feeds it to you (when you ask). Tests are tricky...but studying is the key. Be sure to do all the hw problems sometimes he will slap one on the test.
I loves this teacher<3 Hands down, I loathed math, but he is just to hilare. && I got an A in his class ;) I loved his class (: !
Skips steps, gives few examples, comes to class unprepared, acts like a student - doesn't put in much effort. Nice guy though. Don't take unless you already are good at calculus.
Worst teacher. Doesn't provide any help and grades unfairly. My friend and I made the same error on a test and only I was docked 15 points for the 25 poi t problem.
he doesn't really come prepared to class. he makes up examples on the spot. rarely uses the book as reference. basically you have to study twice as hard. can be intimidating.
He is a really good teacher. The class was super easy and he grades fair. He can be really funny and nice. I would recommend this teacher just don't come late to class unless he likes you then you can. I went late to class everyday and he never took any points off of my grade but that is because I talked to him everyday.
He does not teach! He lectures for less than half the class time, then makes us work on our own. That's not teaching...don't take unless you already know calculus.
VERY GOOD TEACHER. His tests are somewhat difficult but if you show up to class and listen/take good notes/ask questions (like every other class), you will get an A. If you show interest in math he will show interest in you. He is probably the best professor I have ever taken.
one of my favorite math professors. like any other class you have to study. recommend him for sure!
He's class is really helpful. I learned a lot in his class. You can tell that he loves math, and he will try to convince you to love math too. It's hard, perhaps very hard to earn an A. But its easy to pass his class, he gives sample exam that cover 80% of the real test. He once a while gets mad at us that we did not study. Anyway, he's good.
He is on of the best teachers I ever had... he is extremely helpful he explains everything crystal clear he makes caculus fun and easy... he gives you study guides for the midterms... his test are not that hard if you study the guides... i highly recommend you to get him as an instructor especially if you fear calculus!
He's smart, really cool, and cares about the students!
He helps alot during his office hours and a few minutes after class. He's pretty cool and laid back. But lots of work and sometimes he doesn't go over the work. He expects you to know the work. So make sure you do some of the book work. He has an interesting way of grading. He won't tell you but he does.
Zheng is an awesome professor. He holds students accountable, so being lazy isn't an option. He answers questions, does examples, and asks students for participation and understanding along the way. His tests aren't exactly easy, but he teaches you the material well and helps if you have problems or questions, so your grade is in your hands.
Zheng was my favorite teacher this quarter. He has high expectations of students. Very comprehensible but expects students to think outside the box on exams. He's very helpful and is concerned about his students. He also takes time to get to know some of his students. I would recommend taking his class.
This man is a True math genius. He eats sleeps and breaths math. He makes math seem easy and he will call you Out if you're messing up. He is one of the few professors At this school to care about his students. He's got a heart of gold. Take his class and you will not reGret it.
He's a fun teacher and helps out, but his tests will kill you even if you study. throws a lot of curve-balls
OK as teachers go. Not an easy class. Wastes a lot of time gabbing. throws some curveballs on tests, but if youre sharp on your 207 you'll be able to handle them. homework + 2 tests + final. fair grader. does need to brush up on english a bit.
Attendance is mandatory! Counts as participation. Tests are super hard -- requires prior knowledge, in TRIG. Very fair. Would take again......... VERY HELPFUL IN OFFICE HOURS. Any kind of question he would answer helpfully.
He is my favorite teacher. He like to help students and he is make Math seems easy. I learn a lot in his class
The best math professor ever. Really helpful in office hours during and even after the quarter. Very reasonable and will listen to the student's point of view. Will correct himself if he's wrong. I would definitely take another class with him.
Not the clearest lecturer and notes used for the course guide you along more of a computational path with little insight as to why you're doing whatever it is you're learning. Adam is a helpful professor but if he presented the material a little more clearly the concepts would surely be better understood.
He is sometimes hard to understand because of his accent. His tests are semi-hard. Study and it gets easier.
He is really hard, and is not a good teacher. He is really nice, but mean about grades. Hes tough. I do not reccomend him.
If you want to know the material well,be ready for the next class, and are ready to work, take him, if you just want an easy class and not interested in learning avoid
A great teacher and understanding. He is willing to help you pass and explains the lecture fairly well if you pay attention. It is very important to do your homework, which he gives a lot of, to practice on. His test are hard, but if you do all your homework and study you will pass the class.
Not a good professor. When he gives examples, he is not consistent and uses too many shortcuts. He is not easy to understand. I suggest find an alternate way to understand the lesson.
HE KNOWS HIS STUFF, BUT LIKES TO USE SHORTCUTS AND YOU CAN EASILY GET LOST BUT IF MATH IS YOUR STRONG POINT HE'S GOOD AT TEACHING SHORTCUTS, WHAT I HATE IS HE'S QUICK BUT WHAT I LIKE IS THAT HE DOES VERY HARD PROBLEMS ON THE BOARD SO YOU UNDERSTAND BETTER
He is really great professor! Very clear and concise, and always available for office hours if you have questions. The class was definitely challenging, but the course is well organized and straight-forward, I would definitely recommend it. Always come to class or you will be confused on the homework, and make sure to show all your work on tests.
Incredibly difficult teacher. Tests were 10x harder than examples and assigned homework. Skips many steps in lecture and expects too much prior knowledge from students.
as the previous comments say he isn't that great of a teacher. he starts off by scaring you by telling you you will fail his class no matter what u do if you know math isn't your strongest subject it will scare you and have a mentality that you are going to fail. he goes by the lessons really fast and does many short cuts.do not recommend
I would not recommend anyone to take this his class it was extremely difficult because he mad it harder than it actually was. When he lectured he would skip a lot of steps or assume we knew things. Strongly disliked his class
He knows his stuff but cannot explain it well. i practically had to learn the material myself.
He's a great teacher! He interacts with the students and is really funny! He stops and asks if you don't understand something. Puts examples on the board and solves them for you also. Gives a lot of homework, but it's not hard. Great professor! Cares about his students.
Great teacher just needs to slow down alittle more. but over all really great teacher teaches to the midterm there are no surprises
There is nothing to complain about him besides he yells. He teaches well in lecture. Some of the questions in his tests are challenging, but most of them are very similar to his handout and lecture. I don't recommend him unless you are ready for a real college course.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! He never responds to his e-nails no matter how many times you e-mail him. Unorganized and all over the place. Very bad teacher.
You have to study to pass the class. You are lazy, better find someone else,
Very difficult instructor. Knows material, cannot explain it. Takes shortcuts and skips steps when lecturing making it extremely difficult to follow, basically have to teach yourself the material. 3 tests, all problems on tests have some "trick" or curve ball, study HARD and possibly pass. class avg for test 1...45% 1 person passed. GL
He expects students to try their best. So for that reason he uses challenging problems that will help you. I learned more about math 206 and still learned math 207. Remarkable Professor.
Although he is a cool person in the sense that he is funny, however, I found his tests to be difficult. He was not well organized during his lectures. Half of the time he wrote the problem down wrong so I did a lot of erasing. He only gave us the first test back leaving me unsure of what my grade was the entire time.
Lectures are all over the place. Stay away from him!
I found his tests to be difficult. He was not well organized during his lectures.
This professor is very helpful. He prepares his lectures on paper before class and always stops to ask how he can help us or if we have any questions. His tests are tough, yet balanced if you study. He will even reply on a piece of paper through email anytime on the weekends if your having trouble solving a problem if you send him a picture.
Took him for MATH 207 and got a D in his class, mostly my fault for not doing homework but the second time I took it I got a B+ in the class. He's serious when it comes to his lectures but makes it a bit fun by throwing a joke every now and then and he talks a lot about his life. If you need help, he'll help you understand things.
One of my fave! His tests are hard, but you can pass in low 60%. I got average score of 70% in all my tests, but I got a B in the class. Awsome!
I'm surprised no one's mentioned that he's incredibly misogynistic. He always remembers the names of the pretty girls (no one else) and went on a rant about how his mother taught him that women are poisonous. His tests are ridiculously hard and he's moody. Also, his marriage is rocky and he'll tell you all about it.
Do not take him, but if you like to teach yourself then go for it. He assigned a lot homework most are odd questions. However, he likes to put even questions on the test. You need to study before his lecture at least one more chapter because he likes to put question from other chapters to challenge you on tests . His final more crazy, more tough.
He is really a good instructor. I was a C student before taking his class, I am proud to say that I am much better at managing my time and acknowledge my responsibility now.
He gives test with challenge questions. For those who like calculations, he is a right choice since his test focuses more on math calculation rather than definition. He also gives guidline what will be on the test and extra points for redoing the test(usually 10pts, which is a whole grade letter).
Diff. Eqs.: You try to teach yourself the material during the absolutely unreasonable amount of homework he assigns (every problem in the book), then he tests you on things in chapters you haven't covered yet. His student expectations are truly unreasonable and when I asked for serious help, he told me to get a tutor. Look elsewhere!
A proficient mathematician but there are better professors with PHds. Articulates well but examples lack detail. He expects you to make connections on your own) arrogantly states not his fault our past professors weren't good and talks about irrelevant personal subjects which may offend some people. States he likes when he gets bad surveys.
At first I was skeptical about taking the class after reading some reviews, but if someone who sucks at math and gets a C in every previous math course like me gets a B in class, anyone can pass this class. Just practice assignments he assigns and youre good.. Gives students many opportunities to pass I dont see how you cant pass..
He started off strong. Half way into the quarter he choke, he was not able to teach the harder material. He will teach one example and i guess felt that that was good enough, lecture over. He noticed the class struggled and became surveying the class. So our class turn into a focus group and test subjects. My group suffered in terms learning.
His lectures are engaging and to the point, but intimidating. Homework is given daily but collect on the test dates. If you do the homework, pay attention in his lectures, and attend every lecture you will definitely pass. Exams were not difficult. The final was hard because its cumulative.
There was a lot of communication gap. He assumes you know everything and only gives one example which is already given in your textbook. If you know the topic prior to each lecture you might find it easy.
He expects us to finish homework the next day and sometimes it is a lot. I like his lectures and his examples. I think he spends too much time trying to motivate students to do their homework. He should use the time to show more examples. The tests are not bad and most of them are from the homework anyway. I got a B but I should have gotten A
One of the worst professor that i have ever had! You pretty much have to teach yourself. He loves talking about his coffee in the morning and irrelevant things that has to do noting with the class. I have never seen a really lazy professor.
He's one of my favorite teachers at USCLA. He's very funny and inspiring. People find him hard because they don't do the work they're supposed to. Just go to the lectures and finish the homework. I've taken 3 classes with him (Math 208, 209 and 215) and got all A's. I would definitely take him again if I ever need more Math classes.
it took him 5 weeks to grade the test
I have never met a more horrible professor than Adam. His lectures don't provide enough background or examples. Attendance is not mandatory and homework is collected on the day of the final. He takes forever to grade tests and does not give enough notice of when the midterms will be held. It took him several weeks to even post a basic syllabus!
Professor Zheng usually gives a quick lecture in class about the certain section then assigns HW. Its up to the student to do the HW and ask questions during the next meeting. His tests are based off the HW and he will even tell you which problems to study. HW are due on the day of the final. He is very fair with his grading. Highly recommend him.
I have never had a professor like this one. He talks more about his personal life and beliefs than the actual material. Expect to learn on your own, and still struggle with his tough grading on exams. If you ask him questions, he will tell you to look in the book. Have more questions after reading the book? he will question your "smartness." Avoid!
Very easy class to take. MATH 1040 was my first math class and the lectures did get confusing, but if you do the homework and ask for help you will be easily passing. There is a good amount of homework, but most of the times you will have finished it before you even left class. Definitely a professor to look for.
Takes forever to grade homework and exams, homework he gave full credit but he was extremely picky about exams. Docked off points for using a hint that he gave us on the question(lol) and didn't specify if we would lose credit. As for the material, relatively not bad but you pretty much teach yourself, his lectures are mostly irrelevant.
Honestly, Adam wasn't that bad at first. He's a very laid back guy who really seems like he loved his job. But then, came the tests. Tests worth 45% will screw you over big time. Alot of the class failed the first test and it just got worse and worse from there. Homework is easy and so is participation. But it is his tests that will make you fail.
He conveys little to no information to students. When I took trig & pre-calc as well as calc 1 back then, I understood over 98% of the covered material, but he made me lose more interest in math due to his tough grading and vague instruction in calc 2. It is highly recommended for those who have him to enroll in both a math workshop & ENGR 1050.
Funny prof. This professor's course exams are heavily weighted, at 45%. You have to memorize Calculus I and Pre-calc rules; he does not review prior knowledge. Cheat sheets are not given. Though curveballs might be included, often he will give an idea about the type of questions that could be on the exams. Be prepared because he is quite strict.
I was scared to take Prof Zheng cause of these reviews but he is not that bad. He gave us many chances to do good on tests. First midterm he gave us all 90%! Like no teacher does that. He gave us the questions to the others and even the final. He seemed like he truly cares for his students. I def wouldn't have passed if he wasn't so nice. Funny too
This Prof. is very funny and chill but he spends most of his class talking about god knows what. Comes in late and leaves early. Doesn't give lectures. only goes over 2-3 problems from the hw and even said we'd do 90% of the learning ourselves. If you are ok with teaching yourself EVERYTHING then its not too bad, hes lenient and lets things slide.
