I really enjoyed having Addie. She's very personable and friendly and knows her stuff. While expectations are high, the workload is manageable. It's good prep for 'being in the real world'. Overall, I think she's a smart professor that emphasizes the professionalism and multi-tasking that is needed in the real world.
She is not a typical college professor that reads and leaves. She holds everyone accountable for getting their work done and demands success. Most people see this and get intimidated but all she is doing is trying to make people better and prepare them for the real world. She is a class act and the real deal. One of the best professors I have had.
A very easy class--I didn't do all of the coursework and still got a passing grade. She changed the syllabus and attendance policy halfway through the semester, and I disliked that her lectures were read out of the textbook. She was also late to class everyday, but all pop quizzes and exams were super easy as long as you read!
I'm currently in the class but am in love with it! She is very helpful, talented, and fun. Her attention to detail is insane and if you don't follow rules you get penalized unless you have a good reason you didn't. I think she really prepares you for the real world. Prioritize your time, get lessons done on time, work on stuff outside of class
Professor brings a fun atmosphere to a class where you begin to learn design foundations and essential software. The projects are challenging enough, allowing you to immediately apply concepts and ideas.
Addie is a very fun, personable, and exciting professor. Aside from teaching Addie runs her own design firm, which gives her class a real world element that many other classes lack. Assignments are challenging, but very manageable. If students put the time in they will succeed. If they waste time and don't put forth effort, they will not succeed.
Addie is a very understanding, accomodating teacher. Her syllabus is clear, and the workload is well balanced. She is super helpful!
Addie is really great. She shares lots of real world design experience in class and is always willing to answer questions and help you develop a creative process. Do the photoshop and illustrator lessons, and take Addie's criticisms as either advice, or work twice as hard to prove her wrong - either way you'll be a better designer afterwords!
She is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is super helpful if you have questions or if you need a little guidance. Here syllabus is super black and white, so it's easy to understand. I love that she shows us examples of her own personal work from her business and real life experiences. Highly Recommended.
supplies is costly, but class is great.
She may have been late to class some days but she made class fun and exciting. found interesting ways to help you remember the information and allowed enough time in class to get work done. its an art class it is always fun. great professor!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Grades very very fair!!
Subject material is not hard if you study and pay attention in class. Gives ample work time for projects but she was late almost every day which was annoying.
Pretty good teacher, some exercises/projects take a long time to complete. Cares about students learning material.
Fun projects!
Addie was pretty cool! She graded kind of hard but overall the class was pretty good.
I enjoyed this class overall.
Addie is an awesome and sweet teacher who is always willing to help out and make the class fun for students. Make sure you do the sketchbook exercises and project questions etc., they really make a difference to your grade. You can't miss many classes so keep that in mind as well!
I thought it was a very well taught class. I learned alot about the arts and I think this class should be offered before Freshman have to take the drawing 101 class. I felt I learned more about art and drawing in this class than I did in the 1st art class I had to take.
Great professor. Very fun class. Workload manageablenot overwhelming if you know how to manage your time.
Keep up with the tutorials and manage time wisely.
Assigns a lot of work and uses most of class time to lecture. Be prepared to do most of your work outside of class. 2 assignments due each week as well as 5 projects overall. Addie is very personable and willing to answer any questions you might have.
Great teacher. By far one of the best I've had at UWGB. She is more than willing to help you out and give feedback without telling you what to do to your designs.
Great teacher!!! Gives you great feedback on your projects and is always willing to talklistening to you. Would definitely suggest taking her classes.
Addie helps tremendously in helping students get ready for the real world. Deadlines are strict and projects are not easy, but you learn a ton about design and the process of putting together a project before print. Expect to show up to every class. If you do show up to every class the deadlines don't seem awful and she will give you great input.
Great to work with, fun to study under. Addie always creates a positive motivational atmosphere. She is an incredibly nice person and hands down one of the best professors I've ever had!
Addie is awesome, she has been so inspirational and so helpful in my artistic development. I have had her for several classes and wish all of my design courses we with her!
Awesome professor. Aca-awesome.
You definitely have to work hard in this class but it was manageable. Attendance wasn't really a requirement on work days which was nice. The class was very organized and you always knew exactly what she expected for each assignment
Very understanding and helpful. Projects are enjoyable.
i really enjoyed meeting her, she has inspired me to keep going and not give up. thank you for all your lessons look forward to seeing you again next semester.
Addie Sorbo is such a fantastic professor! She gives you great feedback and isn't scary to approach with a question. If you do approach her with a question she usually gives you a shortcut to get the same result! She's funny and makes her classes fun and relaxed. However, she does expect great work from you and to go outside your comfort zone.
Teacher and class are fantastic.
Addie is super helpful and she knows her stuff. All my projects are much better then they would have been because of her feedback. She always has great ideas. Anyone who has had a bad experience with her just hasn't been able to keep up with assignments. Be prepared for critiques and projects, and you'll end up with portfolio-worthy stuff.
Addie is awesome. She's fun and can spot an extra space from a mile away. If you are a hard worker and committed to be a good student, Addie is great to work with and learn from. If you are looking to skate through, you better sign up with someone else. The work is intense but at college level, what are we expecting? She gives us what we paid for.
Great professor, she gives great feedback on what you need to work on and gives honest critiques and compliments.
Voyager gives you real world experience in a guided classroom setting. Addie is great at helping with questions or formatting. She is a real world example of success in the graphic design field.
Addie is a really great professor to have here at UWGB. She's understanding, but firm. She expects her students to do their best and can easily tell when they haven't. Get on her good side, become her friend, she's awesome as a person as well as a professor.
I enjoyed having Addie. She was always super helpful and encouraging. She is always understanding and willing to help teach you something or go over something you don't understand. I enjoyed having class with her.
Always available whenever help is needed. Provides clear instructions as to what the project requirements are. Content is never out of the ordinary and class is at a well pace.
Addie is a very fun teacher who has very good projects and runs a class that requires professional grade work without making you feel like its boring or something that is more stressful than it is fun.
You will actually learn in this class. Do the readings and pay attention to what you're doing in the lessons because you will be tested on them. Fun class overall. You'll be fine. Take it! :)
If you have any questions, she will find you answers.
Keep up with the lessons and projects, and you'll do fine. Be prepared to work. This is a college course, not a high school class. Addie is great though. Super helpful and nice.
Addie really fun projects that allow students to be creative without many restrictions. Gives great feedback and is willing to help students. Teaches the design process and makes sure students understand it, while implementing it with class projects.
Addie Sorbo provides a great introduction into the graphic design field. All projects and assignments are relative to the design field and can be a lot of fun at times too. She provides great feedback/assistance and makes the class exciting through many great design process exercises.
Super helpful and willing to answer any question you have, and go into explanation on your problem or question you have.
Just do it. You'll enjoy it.
Fun class. You learn a lot about making animations in InDesign for iPad ebooks (EPUBS). You have lots of time for your projects, so use your time wisely.
Addie is an amazing teacher. She will help you as much as you need, giving great advice from someone who knows their stuff. Expect to work hard, but it is completely worth it for the projects that you will create.
She's awesome! A great proffesional designer and professor. She's more than willing to help and provide feedback for work. Addie is hilarious and always cheery.
Addie is awesome!
Addie is an absolute pleasure to have in class. She deeply cares for her students general intellectual development and their careers as graphic designers. I would recommend her to all students looking to take her class. Wish I could have her in class again. I know I will keep in touch with her long after I graduate. :)
Addie cares a lot about what she does and the students she has. She makes sure everyone's question is answered and that you get the most out of her class. Out of all the design classes I have taken I have received the most feedback and criticism from Addie and the students in her classes.
Addie takes the time to make sure everyone understands the criteria and makes the class fun as well. Very funny and happy person. Good criticism is given, though I felt like I didn't improve myself very much
Gives great feedback. Addie will go above and beyond to help students and make sure everyone is successful in the class.
Epub is a lot of fun!
It was a really fun class! Addie was a great and helpful professor. This is my second time having a class with her.
She has a bubbly, upbeat personality and is very easy to talk to. She gave good feedback on all the in process critiques. She was very helpful with every question I had for the class. The work load isn't bad. If you follow the schedule on the syllabus & stay ahead on the weekly assignments you'll be ok.
One of, if not the very best professor I've ever had! Addie is energetic, passionate, knowledgable, and fun. She makes you feel comfortable sharing ideas and helps with any problems. Best of all she creates an atmosphere of creativity that is liberating. She helped unlock my talent for design in a way that surprised even me. What a professor!
At times, it's a bit unclear EXACTLY what we are being graded on in our projects. The projects are awesome and a lot of fun! The critiques are a bit overkill, but we receive lots of great feedback.
I loved the class. I learned a lot about Photoshop and Illustrator, would definitely take a class with Addie again. It's quite a bit of work, but she helps you every step of the way and gives you plenty of time to do the projects.
This class consists of lessons (1 or 2) per week with around 5 unit projects. The projects are thorough and require substantial research and time, but they are very fun and rewarding in the end. I would definitely take this class again. The teacher is very approachable, helpful, and pushed your design skills.
Very good class.
Fun, easygoing teaching style but can be serious when deadlines need to be met.
I have been out of school for awhile and reenrolled, this was one of my first class back at the college. It was great, challenging for me since I been out for a long time but the instructor was always there to help. Added bonus is her personality is awesome.
Addie is by far one of my favorite professors that I've had at UWBG. You won't go a single class period without her making you laugh. She gives great feedback on projects and is very approachable. If you take this class take it when she teaches it!
Addie has always been a great professor--super fun and ready to help out. She's always super peppy which makes it so much better to take her classes--she's very easy to talk to. Highly recommend taking classes with her!
Addie is a fun professor, makes having an 8am class bearable.
She was an awesome teacher. Since I am a graphic design major I learned a lot from this class and Addie really inspired me to love design even more.
She makes class enjoyable, fun activities to learn from, plays music while we have a work day and also shares what work she is doing with her business. I enjoyed seeing what she has done and her creativeness, it is really inspiring.
Great professor. Fun projects and awesome class overall!
I learned not to take for granted the time we are given to finish projects. We have plenty of time we should complete the projects and hand them in ON TIME!
Addie is a great human being, and shows a lot of care into her students. The class was very fun, engaging, but FAST! She zips through all the tools and the concepts in Illustrator and Photoshop, so be sure you are familiar before hand. Great person for creative ideas, visioning, journals & PINTREST! Very creative class!
Addie is awesome and very good at what she does. She gives really thoughtful feedback about your projects and is always willing to help. She's kind and easy to talk to as well. I definitely want to take classes with her again.
Great course, you will learn a lot about the magazine industry, as well as some tips when it comes to working with Creative Cloud. Wonderful professor, I would take any class with her.
Addie is an exceptional professor and is a wonderful person to have teach this real-world design class, for she owns her own graphic design business. She provides detailed feedback and greatly wants her students to succeed as designers. Voyageur is a fairly laid-back class and most work is done inside the classroom.
Addie helped me learn an eye for color. I loved working on the menu. I really got a chance to be creative.
Addie Sorbo is an excellent teacher, teaching a difficult, project heavy subject. The first part of the semester feels overwhelming, but as time goes on you can look back and see how far you've come, and how much you've learned. Not the class to take if you already have a busy schedule, as this class takes so much time outside of class.
This class was taught by using tutorials online. We didnt really learn anything that couldnt be found online.
Addie is not only a professor but a experienced professional in the field of graphic design outside of the classroom. Its not every day that you get to learn from someone that can teach you the basics but also can teach you what it really takes to be successful in the current industry after graduation.
This class was a great experience and allows you to get a preview of what it looks like to collaborate with a creative team. There is ZERO homework, how cool is that? And if you put in the effort and keep a positive attitude you will not only receive an A, but you will get a great project for your portfolio.
Addie is a wonderful teacher, can't wait to take another class with her!
Addie expects you to give 100% effort on proj's & she'll know if you don't give your best. If you put forward the effort in this class, don't take any of the "easy ways out" and SPELLCHECK, you'll do great. Addie is super funny & great to have in class just make sure you show up, participate, and experiment with the projects. USE your sketchbook!!!
I loved having a class with Addie! Shes so fun to be around and always easy to talk to, whether its with questions about the class or just general chatter. She always taught things in a way that was easy to understand and was always willing to help us when needed. Overall, I would always recommend a class with her to anyone!
I've had Addie for a few classes and she has always been helpful and organized. This class seemed totally different. It felt like we were thrown assignments constantly and they were expected done the next class. It was very stressful and exhausting. I didn't expect this from Addie because I liked how she taught the other classes, but not this one.
Lots of work
Her lessons, feedback, and criticisms will truly help you develop real-life, industry-expected skills. You'll need to work, but it's worth it. Cares for her students and is completely willing to help you tackle problems in the projects. Plus, she is a fun professor, making the material and the criticism enjoyable to learn from.
Professor Sorbo is a great educator and really wants her students to find their creative side and work hard! She made having this class online bearable and was always super helpful. Projects could get stressful, but it's worth it to see all the hard work come together!
Addie is a great professor, she makes herself available for help outside of class and made the transition to online courses easy. This class is defiantly a project heavy but she incorporated many critiques which makes it easy to stay on top of things as they progress
Very helpful!
I really liked Sorbo's Design class. I had always wanted to learn more about adobe illustrator and photoshop for a few years and had no idea where to start. Taking her class and having feedback from other students was very helpful. She makes excellent step by step videos.
Addie Sorbo is a great professor and very understanding. But make sure not to slack off in this class. Stay on top of things and, if possible, get things done early.
Professor Addie Sorbo was an excellent professor who puts all of her efforts into making the class enjoyable but also filled with educational projects! I recommend getting in one of her classes because you learn so many things.
Addie is such a good professor and truly wants you to succeed as a designer. She really cares about you and your work and wants you to design to the best of your ability and show off your best skills in every project and assignment you do in her classes. The Voyageur class was very fun and enjoyable and definitely a class I would take again!
Addie is a great professor! I have had her for two semesters and definitely would take her classes again. She wants you to do your best and is always willing to help and give feedback. Make sure you meet deadlines because that is something important to her with the projects throughout the semester.
She's a great professor who knows what she's talking about and her classes relate to what is expected in design jobs.
Addie is a very kind and humane professors to have, but with her kindness she needs to be communicated with when comes to absents. She gives so many assignment and critiques but its very important to do them because it will allow you to do great in the class.
Addie is an amazing teacher who cares about the success of her students. While the assignments can be a bit tough, it is more than worth it, as both her and you classmates provide valuable critique that can help you in the long run.
All of the criteria for the class were communicated clearly at the beginning of the class and were available on our Canvas site. I found that all of the requirements were reasonable. During critiques for projects (both in progress and during final critiques), she provided excellent feedback. She was always available to provide help if I needed it.
A magazine was produced in this class. The class does take up a lot of time, it is a published magazine so I treated this class as more of a job than a class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would retake this class if I wasn't graduating. Homework has to be on time for deadlines like a real job. Class is like a publishing job but probably kinder.
She clearly lays out what is expected in her courses and what deadlines are for assignments. She has a very organized system when it comes to assignments and the expectations/requirements for each, which is very much appreciated. As a person who has a lot of industry experience, her input and feedback is excellent and beneficial.
The material was very clearly delivered in class and listed on Canvas. Instructions provide enough information to work through the assignments. This is important because it is really important that you pay attention to the details in your assignments. The professor is very willing to help with any issues and provides helpful feedback.
Mrs. Sorbo is a kind and helpful professor. If you put in the time and effort to improve yourself she will help you along and will grade you accordingly. There can be a lot of work outside of class, but if you're majoring in design I would hope that you enjoy doing it.
It's challenging, but fun.
This professor's teaching style was very professional. Expectations for the class were made clear early on. There are many opportunities for feedback on projects, and the feedback she provides is very helpful. Despite the larger workload that this class may offer the general feeling of the class was very positive.
You can tell that the professor cared about giving us the best feedback to make our projects better. The materials and instructions were very clear to follow. The deadlines were very organized so you knew exactly what to expect.
If, for whatever reason, you're on edge about joining this class, don't be! The teacher is fantastic, and having experience with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop isn't even necessary, though it would make this class much easier for you. As long as you follow deadlines, you'll have a good time.
I highly recommend everyone to take a class with Addie Sorbo. You learn so much in her classes and she is great at explaining how to do things within projects. She also shows how she cares about her students and wants them to do well in her classes.
Addie has students participate in group critiques, so being willing to talk to other students is pretty important if you have her. She has demonstration videos for the software you'll use and you'll learn more in-depth when you're in class because she'll give you step-by-step instructions. She's very amicable and easy to approach with questions.
Addie takes time to explain and demonstrate skills with her students. She is organized with clear expectations. Addie has a wide range of design experience. She is great at sharing her experience and including her students in her current projects/work. Design 435 offers a great portfolio piece and applicable skills.
Great class; I learned a lot about graphic design and I recommend taking this course
Lots of Indesign work and lots of formatting!!! Be prepared for short turn around times for assignments and be sure to manage your time well, assignments usually take a long time.
If you take DESIGN435 Publications workshop with Addie, you'll come out with very thorough knowledge on how to use Indesign, how to follow a style guide, and how to work in the interdisciplinary field of editorial design... all great things for a resume. If you're a person who loves feedback, Addie is a great match for you.
Professor Sorbo was friendly and easy to talk to. Her teaching style was effective and made each project fun. The material was pretty easy to understand and was available to reach out to in regards to steps that may be confusing or difficult. Demonstrations for project steps as well as critiques were extremely helpful for visual learners.
Addie teaches in a very professional way, preparing students for the working world.
Professor Sorbo's class was challenging but rewarding. She provides helpful feedback and creates a supportive environment for learning. Using Unstuck AI alongside the textbook really helped me excel in this hands-on design course.
Very nice person, always available to help you, understanding
Addie is the best professor I had at UWGB. She made the entire course so easy and was incredibly helpful with answering questions
Professor Sorbo has a great passion for her work and allows students to display their creativity while showing support and guidance along the way.
This professor is an outgoing and enjoyable teacher, she loves what she does and she gives helpful feedback. The projects are very fun as well!
Good professor. Very intensive class. I realized I no longer want to do graphic design as a major after this class. If you don't have money don't take this class. You won't pass. You need lots of time for in-lab if you don't buy adobe. She does give great feedback on your projects and answers questions. Knows what she's doing.
lovely professor. knowlegable. positive
