halli was possibly the best teacher i ever had ... he helps you out with anything.. extremely approachable .. he doesnt favor, he just doesnt like stupid/lazy people who come to class late and have no idea what they are suppose to be doing

BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! He cares about his students and is willing to go above and beyond most professors to help you understand the material. His class is challenging, but he prepares you extremely well for other upper level chem class. His dedication to his students is unbelievable. Take him if you actually want to learn! You won't regret it!

Dr. Halli doesn't just dump information in your brain; he makes students think hard and apply knowledge to lab practicals. Moreover, he highly encourages student participation and most of his students complain that he is too demanding. These students just hate to think.

I had Dr. Halli in 2003-4 he was patient, smart, and always made me want to study harder. Although I worked very hard and only got a C in his course, the organic chem section of my DAT (dental school admissions test) was my highest score. That made the difference for me in getting accepted. I really knew my stuff thanks to him. I highly recommend.

great worth every minute spent in that class. even though i believe i could have gotten better great, i am confident in my understanding to the subject. took him for three classes, and wouldn't dare to think of different teacher. be carefull, no playing.

I took Dr. Halli this summer after having been away from school a long time. He's extemely bright and has a lot of charisma but can be challenging and sometimes a bit confusing. I think he genuinely cares for students. He has a military background and can be quite strict. Take him seriously. Great guy but maybe not right for slower students.

I have to say this is one of the BEST TEACHERS I've had. I don't understand why some of the reviews are negative because he is a guy with principles and cares for his students one of his sayings is "is it crystal clear?" He likes to know that everyone is on the same page and understands the material and on top of everything he is VERY FUNNY!!!

I wanted an A soo bad but got a B. He is a great teacher b/c he doesn't spoon feed u. He makes u think. Joining school at middle age and having Dr Halli was excellent. He is capable of advising students. One should come to class on time, for he starts class as he walks in. He is a great help if you are humble and willing to ask questions. He draws up analogies to help students understand.

I think Halli is a great professor. He teaches in ways students will relate it to everyday life. And relating organic to life is hard lol. He is a hard grader and exams are really tough but if you go to class and study you will do fine. Practice problems will help you alot. Timing on his exams are also key! Make sure you practice timing on problems

Dr. Halli is a great teacher! Very helpful to students, he's mostly available during office hours. Students complain he is hard, but come on, organic chemistry was never designed to be easy! If students work on the handouts, practice tests and really put effort in the class, anyone can make it.

He's hot! But his tests are not! Attendence isn't mandatory but if you want to pass don't miss one class. Prepare to spend at least 4 additional hours outside of class per day. If you don't read ahead & practice his prev exams, you'll screw yourself & GPA. Not a class for working students. sorry.

He is not a moran, but his exams are hard. one must learn time magement during the exams and while studing. If your planing on passing the MCAT,DAT, or PCAT take him. Plus if you fail him your u might be a lazy student n didn't study harder..

I'm taking his class right now (CH203), and I registered his class (CH204) for Spring already. He is helpful and nice,my opinion :) . his tests are not that hard, but...you may not have enough time to finish the test, haha

Dr. Halli is one of the best professors I have ever had. Orgo is difficult, but he made it possible to understand. U need to stay on top of material! His style of teaching can be unorthodox, but it is not personal! U will truly get orgo with him. Quizzes per class are great to practice. I highly recommend Dr. Halli. MC is lucky to have him!!!

He's the reason why I actually LIKE organic. He makes sure everyone understands, and gives extra credit points to help you practice problems so you're not late to class. He's so funny!! Uses so many analogies! Makes organic easy to understand, but you still have to put in a LOT of effort. Tests are hard, but taking the class is totally worth it!

A very good instructor. Gives lots of analogies that make the material easy to comprehend. Covers the material at a pace students can understand. Thorough knowledge of the subject. Sometimes difficult to speak to him because as department chair he is very busy. Exams are fair, but may have short time limits or have unexpected questions.

Dr. Halli is awesome! It was because of him that I decided to become a Chemical Engineering major. He is a much better teacher than anyone I have encountered at the rockville campus. Do what you can to take his classes, it is well worth it.

Dr. Halli will def challenge you. If you are serious about learning then TAKE HIS CLASS! He gives plenty optional worksheets throughout the semester which really hammers the material into your brain with the added bonus of extra points. He's a good teacher, but he spends a lot of time trying to dumb down material. We spent 20 mins one class trying to define "pressure". Never used the book. He's very nice and really cares about students doing well, but the material is hard. Doesn't tolerate stoners. The material is difficult. Sometimes makes you feel stupid when you ask questions.

Such an amazing organic chem professor. I took it before in rockville with another professor that was horrible. Halli is awesome at explaining concepts and really does care about his students. Organic chemistry is an extremely difficult class regardless of who the professor is, but Halli explains things until everyone understands.

Organic Chemistry is no easy course but thanks to Dr. Halli I was able to get an A and end my college career in amazing standing! He made the concepts and mechanism clear and the only people who did not understand just plainly did no take time to study! He also let me borrow his own personal copy of a textbook when I expressed difficulty.

Orgo... it's gonna be hard. His exams are a reflection of how well he can teach, so.. unless you dont study, dont expect an easy pass. HOWEVER, he gives so many opportunities for extra credit. He is beyond helpful. I had him for lab and he made all the concepts clear. He will always re-enforce something with knowledge and examples. He will always answer your questions and he'll try to make the math parts easy. Although, you should have enough practice. He'll help you out. I chose this professor based upon his reviews, even though I live 60 miles from campus. WOW, was it worth it! Dr. Halli will actually TEACH you the concepts until you understand them. No textbook is required- exams are based on his notes and worksheets. Extra credit was provided. He TRULY wants you to succeed! Put in the work and you will do well!

AMAZING professor! took him for Organic Chemistry 203 & 204. Orgo is a challenging course as is. However, lectures on what he'll test you on & encourages you to participate. Prof. Halli is great. He gives a ton of extra credit that helps your final grade and helps you to remember what was learned in the class before. He is also very funny and personable. I definitely worked hard to earn a good grade. Do not be scared to ask him about your grade, some people dropped and didn't know they had a good grade beforehand.

He's kinda nuts, but you have to be to wanna teach ochem during summer... This class is tough, but he made it bearable, if you really work hard and put in the TIME AND EFFORT, it will pay off. if you fall behind, you're out. he tries his best to help his students succeed, but not everyones gonna pass, its just the nature of the class.

Takoma park has great professors and no doubt professor Halli is one of them. Guys LISTEN to me, if you really want to learn organic chemistry take it with him, I promise you wont regret it. Prof halli is the best chem Professor Ive ever taken! He gives extra credit quizzes testing your knowledge of the previous class. Study for them and dont take them lightly bcuz if u understand them then ur good for the exam. Study the study guides!!! Organic chemistry is hard but Professor Halli tries to make it easy for you. you just need to listen to him and practice at home. He is a good teacher and he always make sure that his students understand a topic before he move to another topic. go to his office hours if you have any question he will explain everything to you untill you get it.

He is amazing! First chemistry class that I enjoyed. Does short quizzes every class on the last topic and drop several low quizzes, very easy, helps a lot with practice. He's not that hard if you practice, definitely makes you work for your grade. Always gives partial credits for the problems. But he's hilarious, will be taking organic 2 with him.

I was worried at first reading these reviews but he is absolutely amazing. Daily quizzes based on the last lecture. (drops the worst 8) Never got mad at students for asking questions. Amazing classroom environment, I never felt scared to talk. At least one extra credit worksheet every week. If you study and show up every day you will get an A.

I was worried about his class at first, but now I hold my other professors to his standard. The slackers are the haters—it's true. He explains chemistry in a way that's easy to understand and doesn't rely on the textbook.
