I recommend this professor because she is readily available to help. She tries to make sure everyone is in the same page. The homework is always similar to what we've done in class so it's pretty simple.
she is such a kind hearted human being. one of the best in HCC. her class is not heavy, homeworks are just for refreshment from the previous class. she understands whatever that is going, YES, anything can happen at anytime.
She is a great Professor and made chemistry very easy to understand.i am usually someone who has a problem with understanding this sort of stuff but she really helped a n also goes over material twice if you need refreshments.
She is one of my favorite professors. She makes you learn in a very good way. Chemistry is a tough subject, but professor Oyinlola knows how to make it seem interesting and easy for you. You have to do homeworks and listen to her lectures if you wanna get an A. I would love to take as many classes as possible with her. Highly recommended.
Professor Oyinlola is awesome, chemistry is hard but she makes is easy to understand. There are 4 exams and no final. She drops the lowest grade out of the exams. She gives homework for every lecture and is helpful to study for the exams. If you need chemistry, take her you will not only find chemistry simple but you will also learn.
Kind and easy going Professor. All you need do is your group work.
Took her for chem lab & she was always accessible through out the class & she drops the lowest lab grade at the end
Oh my!!! Prof Oyin write and work all calculations on the board, she breaks down the concept to understandable and preliminary level for all. Chapter by chapter homework or quizzes. 4 exams, drops lowest grade and there is no final exam. If you think Chem is not your thing, then take her I PROMISE YOU WILL LOVE THE CLASS. Made an A
Professor Oyinlola has been one of the best at HCC. She explains everything thoroughly and makes chemistry easy and understandable. She will stop and explain something if you do not understand. Textbook is used for homework and practice problems in class. Take her, you will not regret it!
Took her Chem class over the summer. I was so nervous about taking this course in only 5 weeks, but Prof Oyinlola made the subject interesting and easy to follow. There are 4 exams with the lowest grade dropped. Homework assignments are from the previous lectures in class. Highly recommend!
she is one of the best professor that I had, she explain everything that you need, you have review exam , extra credit, easy A I would take her class again.
I would NOT RECOMMEND taking Proffesor Oyinlola. The majority of the class she spent rushing through formulas and concepts. I had to self teach myself at home after each class she lectured. The work load is heavy she gives a lot of homework, random pop quizzes, and 4 exams. Save your GPA and look for another chem Professor.
I did not understand her at all. She does not care about how much the students understand. She just rushes the course. Only learning you'll do is by yourself. She does not understand the students when we ask questions. I had to learn most of the course from my CHEM lab teacher.
She does not care if anyone understands about the subject. Just skims through chapters and answers questions hesitantly. She also does not post any grades online. When I asked her what my average for the class was, she would not tell me. You're left guessing until the end of the semester to know what you got for the class.
The only reason I'm surviving this class is because I had previous knowledge on chemsitry
Do yourself a favor and find someone else.
She is the best best best professor I ever had in HCC. I take her chem 1311 lecture. She really cared abt her students, take her time to explain the problem in class, make sure her students understand well before the test. highly recommend her.
She might be nice but dont confuse nice with being a good teacher. She does not understand her students and expects us to know what she knows in detail. She does not post grades as someone else mentioned so you are left adding points through the semester. I highly recommend taking another proffesor if you plan on making an A.
Run for her. Tough grader
Very straight forward. No second chances. Follow the schedule she gives you, do the work and you will be fine.
She is the best and amazing! Easily understand everything in her class. She gives reviews before the exams. Extra credit for full attendance.
Her test is the same as her reviews, she just change the number for the same problems. 4 test drop lowest one, I got A on all her assignment. Easy class.
Her general chem lab 1 is easy. Just do the report and you will get A. Drop 1 lowest lab report. No exam, no quizzes.
Great Professor. Gets to the point while lecturing with PowerPoint. 4 Exams but drop the lowest grade, gives a review for them and as long as you do/understand the review you'll be just fine.
highly recommend
Follow her exam reviews and you will pass!!
Super easy class. Show up. Do your lab reports. Participate. Easy A. No Final. Was a huge blessing to have as a teacher while transitioning to online learning because she was understanding and didnt try to make things harder than they needed to be.
This class was purely online, but I didn't mind as she gave us everything we needed to succeed. Yes, you need the textbook to do the homework, but I found it for free online so I recommend looking before you buy it. HW due every Sunday, but it's only like 4 questions from the book. Work load isn't heavy at ALL. Her tests and quizzes are easy too!!
Her lab class consisted of 13 labs, 13 quizzes that relate to the lab (with lockdown browser/camera), two other quizzes, and a final (with lockdown browser/camera). Her final was just like the final review and she dropped one quiz and homework grade. If you need a lab class, I would recommend this.
Horrible professor! No lectures she basically just puts her name on the syllabus. Takes forever to reply to emails! Would not recommend to take chem1305 with her.
Take this professor. Easy tests, questions are from her reviews. An easy A grade possible from this professor. Homeworks are also graded easily. Tests questions are also from homeworks.
Terrible teacher. Does not go over the lecture notes or explain anything at all. her class is half assed and she ends lecture in half the time shes given. she blames her students for not understanding and gives no effort to help students understand. really hated her as a student, but I did well because I already knew the material.
She does not provide you with any tools to help you navigate throughout the course/semester, e.g. lecture videos or powerpoints. You have to teach yourself, which defeats the purpose in my opinion. Reading the book is not bad but there is no direction. You will read/study 40+ pages and the exams are only covering probably 10 of those pages.
if youre like me and youre horrible in math, beware. not because of the professor but because of the subject. make sure you have enough time to study and consider a tutor like i did. the class isnt bad at all, homework is due weekly based on the current chapter, 4 exams/ proctored, she drops the lowest one. she responds back fast.
4 exams worth 60% of your overall grade!!! proctored with webcam, dont do it to yourself. thanks to this professor and her lack of teaching, my gpa will no longer be 3.0. PAY ATTENTION TO THE OTHER REVIEWS, I WISH I DID!! homework every week, must show work on homework &exams
She takes quiz every week. So much homework for a lab class. Quiz are hard most of the time but overall I liked the way she teaches.
If you want to learn chemistry, this is a must TAKE class. Professor Oyinlola knows the content of the material and always wants her students to succeed. I made a B and I can say confidently that she teaches very well. Her reviews will help alot and she drops the lowest grade.
Excellent professor. Teaches with quality and gives feedback.
Excellent, outstanding, cares so much about her students success and she responds fast to emails and on top of her teaching career. If you are struggling in chemistry, please take her as she will work with you till you succeed. I recommend her with high regards. The class was enjoyable but be ready to work as well.
Had her for Spring 2022 in person. She is willing to help her students, kind, and gives them second chances. WEAR your lab coat when you have lab with her. She has clear grading criteria and replies to emails within 24-72 hrs. She gives exam reviews which help a lot.
One of the best professsor in chemistry. I recommend her with high learning. Easy to understand and drops the lowest grade. She understands when students are struggling and ready to fill in the gap. Very knowledgeable.
Honestly she should be made the chair of the department. She recognizes where her students are struggling and balances her time by responding quick to emails and one on one with students. You must read but she helps a lot especially when she knows you are struggling.
I took her online class, very clear instructions on what is expected. she gives homework every week and enough time for submission. Every information provided was very helpful. I really enjoyed the class.
chem 1111 was a lab class and Professor Oyinlola was so helpful in helping me navigate the course. she is very punctual and never misses labs. clear grading and you can open up her in terms of your difficulty, she's very understanding and ensures everyone was on the right lane to success.
I will take professor oyinlola again and again. I didn't have any chemistry knowledge but she made the course so clear and easy to understand and again it was an in-person class, and this makes it very good. she gives reviews and i recommend you study her reviews. I will take her in the advanced chemistry class. Thank you professor oyinlola.
This is a lab class. The lab is not equipped and she doesn't care about it. No lab coat no entry to lab. She is a tough grader. She takes off points over tiny error on lab reports. GOOD LUCK if she is your last option. Her homework is heavy for a lab class. This is the first time I am taking an exam for a lab. She doesn't respond to emails on time.
imagine wasting either your hard-earned minimum wage or the american tax money for an education where someone gets paid for a professor position without teaching, sets up her class to fail (by cheating claims so she could give the F/no exam reviews/no email support). this woman has hurt many lives i had classmates who had to drop.
SHE CAN COUNT HER DAYS! SHE IS HORRIBLE! She doesn't give extra credit she doesn't teach she is sarcastic and sets YOU to fail. She is disrespectful was a smart mouth an old hag and can KISS my BUTT.I don't know why I spent my financial aid on her. She uses webcam and proctor. She accuses you of cheating and talking to other while taking your test.
if you know chem and love it, take her, but if you need to take this just to, pls don't take her. Exams weigh more than 50% which is crazy. She asks for feedback but doesn't take it into consideration. No quizzes no extra credit, so there's no way to raise your grade up. Looks at you crazy if u ask a question as if you should know material already
She does not teach/provide resources. When grading assignments she does not give feedback. During the middle of the semester, she changed the weight of her exams affecting many grades. She does not respond to her emails. No extra credit. Uses a lockdown browser, picks and chooses what exams to give a review on.
I just finished her chem class this fall and I absolutely love it. I totally do not agree with some comments. I will tell you the absolute truth, this professor cares so much about her students and really want them to succeed but you have to do your own part by studying, though she grades tough. I give her a passing grade.
very knowledgeable and ready to help. speaks so softly and has a good heart. she made me enjoy chem despite not having any knowledge on the subject matter.
Chem 1412 with professor oyinlola was so amazing. the whole class loved her because of her favorite quote. ignore any negative comments you read, she made chemistry very fun for me and everytime we study for her exam, we say her favorite quote and just get inspired to read. touch grader but gives reviews anyway.
I took every step possible to pass this class for literally nothing. She gave two exams that were 60% of your grade and the final that was 25% though each week gave literally so much homework that in the end weren't even worth anything. She has a great personality which makes you think she cares all for her to fail you in the end.
I took her for lab & lecture, for lab she gave a pre-lab that obvi had to be done before class though if you took her lecture you had to wait till she explained it in class right before the lab to know what was going on. Overall her lab was better than her lecture, lab final was completely open ended questions.
she prob wrote the positive reviews herself.. if you care about your grades, don't take her. if you're a student with a family/full time job or a life outside school, this professor will make your life miserable. unless you're actually confident with your chemistry knowledge and skills then you shouldn't have a problem.
The previous reviews are misleading. This was extremely difficult with this professor, especially with it already being a very challenging subject. She did not answer emails in a timely manner. She gave reviews for the first two tests but not for the third test or the final. She was not very helpful, and you will basically be teaching yourself.
Do NOT take this professor for this class. Chemistry itself it's a tough course... She expects her students to know Chemistry. Gives few assignments about 10 throughout the semester which is not good because its insufficient practice. Has an attitude and calls you out in front of everyone. Save the embarrassment and your GPA!
I want the student to know that if you want to pass this class, you have to go outside of class to teach yourself whatever you did not get in class. Do the reviews and your homework to pass. Attend class regularly because there will be pop quizzes. Do not try to get close to her because she is rude and does have a bad attitude.
great professor. i took her for my chem i, and i actually enjoyed her class, cares about her students but you musn't cheat during her exams, if not she will deducts all points or gives you a zero. her reviews are great and similar to her exam.
professor knows subject pop quizzes every class open book grade is from tests 25m 5free 1ec exams are similar to reviews/hw bring a lab coat or no lab HW/quiz from textbook She's straightforward and blunt may come off as rude very participation heavy calls on students, but study and PRACTICE, you should get an A. replaces lowest test grade w final
Grades are 80% based on participation in the labs and submitting them. Only one final exam that is 20% of your grade, not multiple choice, and pretty tricky. She does not reply to emails and will wait until class time to talk to you. Does not accept late work unless you are really failing. She tends to put students on blast if they missed something
Professor Oyinlola is a great teacher. If you did good in the first 3 exams, you wouldn't have to worry about the final because she will take the lowest exam grade instead. Her exams are not easy but as long as you review the homework and quizzes you will be fine. Participation matters because she will give easy pop-up quizzes!
As long as you show up every day, do your homework and whatever she asks you to do... you'll pass. If you pass the first three exams, you don't have to worry much about the final exam. Her exams are similar to her reviews, homework and quizzes during class.. make sure you pay attention.
Took for her gen chem lab and she was a great professor. The labs are done in groups, which makes coming to class a lot more fun and easier to approach. Work consisted of pre-labs, lab reports, post labs, and the final exam. She did minimal teaching since this is a lab, but when she did, she always explained concepts throughly.
This teacher was amazing, always there to help when needed. Gives reviews and even took out one of your lowest grades. Explains Chemistry better. Those students that complain of accent are those that are not tolerant of others or those that have not stepped out of Houston all their life. Those that make A's in his classes do they have 3 ears?
Took her class over the summer and it was amazing! She always gave us practice questions similar to what was on the exam. Her chapter reviews, homework and in class questions that she goes through are key to acing the exam. There were 3 midterms and a cumulative final.
So I liked this professor a lot as a person, but she was a terrible teacher. The problem is, she tells you what formula to use to get the answers, but never explains what we are trying to solve for or the reasons behind anything. She actually never seemed to know. She also never understood peoples questions or answered any emails.
The professor was very nice but requires the work to be turned in. She's very easy-going though too! All you have to do is turn in your prelab/lab-report/postlab and the final is also really easy.
Professor Oyinlola is great. I took her for Chem I and Chem II. Her lectures are powerpoint based, but she solves problems by hand in class. The homework is not excessive and she gives a full week to do it. She is open to questions and she makes sure everyone understand what we are learning.
Took her for lab ONLY, but overall a simple class. Show up for labs, complete pre and post-labs, and execute labs as a group. She was so nice to give us a relatively simple practical for our final! Worth mentioning if you miss a lab, only partial credit is given (obviously). Her teaching style can be a little vague, but she's so nice!
Professor Oyinlola is a great teacher! Her explanations were clear and she gave us plenty of practice problems in class to make sure that you understand the topic. All quizzes are open book and you are able to discuss it with your classmates to get the right answer. You do have to listen in class, and there are no recorded lectures!
She is a wonderful professor and I only wish to take her class for all my chemistry classes
Its hard to understand her lectures as she has a very thick accent. but once you understand her you should be good. 3 test, make sure to buy scantrons. She is willing to work with you if you need help.
Overall Pr. Oyinlola is easy for this class especially for test just make sure to remember the practice exams, but for final!! Study early. She was not bad at all just pay attention for pop quizzes and do hw youll be okay
This professor is amazing. I took her lab class for chemistry 1111. As long as you do the pre lab before class, the lab report in class and post lab after class, participate in class and do the work correctly you will score a 100 in the class. No lecture exams or quiz, only assignments and one final exam.
Professor does NOT knowledge you well enough. Be prepared to be your own professor. She reads off a textbook and tells you this is the way but literally has trouble speaking about the reason why. She makes chemistry sound hard. Then if you ask a question, she gives you weird faces. One girl in my class asked a question and she said “I don't know “
Easy class to pass. All we had to do was pre-lab, lab report and post-lab which was worth 80% of our grade. We had one final exam worth 20% and I got an A at the end. I would recommend not waiting last minute to complete the labs.
This is an easy A lab class. No tests during semester. Only reports and final exam. The final is super easy and don't have to study much. I love this Professor because she is nice and I can understand clearly the lecture by her teaching. For sure will take her class again.
She's a really good professor, her lectures are clear and really easy to follow with, she explains complex concepts so clearly and easily, she provides examples, and a formula sheet + the periodic table on exams. She posts reviews for each chapter that you can study from and the exam had like the same questions. I really recommend her.
She's nice but honestly it's a forgettable class. Just show up, do the work and you're guaranteed to have a good grade. She barely does lectures but at least there's only has one exam for the semester. It'll only have around 30 questions.
she is a great professor i took her lab class she explains everything well. she have an accent but i still totally understood her all you have to do is the lab, pre- lab, and post-lab paper that's all and they are easy not much of a work. i only got a c+ because of some work that was wrong she looks into details of your paperwork but it's fine.
just have to do pre, lab report, and post lab for each lab. Don't be scared to ask questions during the lab. need goggles and lab coat. She teaches a bit b4 lab which was so HELPFUL & EASY TO UNDERSTAND (better than my lecture prof). Has a final at the end which was pretty easy.
She's really good but attendance really matters , she's not the worst grader but really picky about showing work . Her final exam was insanely easy and she tells you what to focus on. Make sure to turn in everything on time , she's not accommodating when it comes to late work . I would def recommend for a lab class
She's a decent professor overall. Her exams are similar to her test reviews, which helps with studying. However, not all chapters had a review, and there was no review for the final exam, which made it harder to prepare. There are pop quizzes sometimes, so try not to miss class. I probably wouldn't take her again, but the class was manageable.
There are usually 1–2 homework assignments each month and a total of 8 labs throughout the semester. The in-class quizzes, hmwk, and labs are easy 100s. The exams follow the reviews, but the final is more difficult since it's made by the department. Many students failed the final, so it's important to keep your other grades as high as possible.
if you're taking her for lab i just want you to know make sure you attend all her classes for lab it will help also try to get good grade she wasn't a hard grader but make sure you do pre-lab before class she will kick you out into you turn it in also she will make you buy a lab coat if you don't have one
This professor made me fall more in love with chemistry. Put in the work and you will see the results. Tests are important and count for a lot. Final was hard for me. Come to class, there are some pop quizzes but they are open book and you can work with the students in your class.
Her lab was very interactive and the pre-lecture helps GREATLY with the lab for the day. Just make sure to turn everything in before the next lab day and pre-lab before lab, she counts everything. I really liked how she does her lecture in lab so I am taking her for CHEM 1412; that good I say.
Take her. She literally gives you the questions to expect on the free response section and the same questions will be on the exam. For the multiple choices she always has a review at the end of each chapter, which are exact questions that will be on the exam. She's not key on buying the textbook because she'll let you take a picture of her textbook.
I loved her as long as you follow the directions you're good to go with an A! She only have 1 exam which is final exam and you must complete pre lab before class cause she will check it and also buy yourself lab coat as well.
She has no manners when discussing things with anyone . Be careful, she will embarrass you a lot in front of everyone because she doesn't know how to treat students politely and behave properly.
Shes a good a professor. You just need to pay attention. Do great in her first 3 test so you dont have to stress much for her final. Her quizzes are similar to her test. Overall shes good but can be kinda rude sometimes but ill take her again !!
She is very rude but her lab was easy. The lab itself is 60 % but for the lab there is no tests. If you do not attend you lose credit for that session, do not miss class. The final is hard as well, shell say its easy but u should study.
