Participation required in class, but otherwise the workload is a breeze. Solid teacher for someone looking for an easy schedule.

Professor Guiu, is a very understanding and caring teacher about his students. He likes the students to be part of the class. There is a lot of readings, however it makes up for the no test or quizzes. Be prepared to write a few essays. Overall he is an amazing professor.

All around easy A, you have to do the reading he assigns, don't expect to just sit there and be shy. He will call on you, and makes sure everyone engages in the conversation. If you have responsibilities such as a job, he is understanding and will work with you. Very considerate and knowledgeable.

He is a good teacher and you learn many things from him but he becomes angry if you talk at all or when you do not agree with him.

He is very nice! Class is mostly discussions and interesting videos on different religions! He really encourages students to participate in discussion. There are MANY opportunities for extra credit and make up work! He is very easy going and teaches in a unique way! He doesn't drill information into your head but instead has open discussions.

He does not get mad if you disagree with him! He is a very nice, and helpful professor. Willing to give extra credit and is also a very good teacher! Class discussions are very interesting as well as the videos we watched. I honestly learned so much. Highly recommend his class!

this class was BORING. Easy but boring. He calls on you even though you have no idea what the answer is and expects you to answer somehow. His assignments are all on blackboard, no in class quizes or anything. Just discussing, reading (sometimes) and talking. I would not take his class again.

Great teacher! If you fail his class, it's completely your fault. He offers extra credit and no exams. He actually encourages debates, even if you disagree with him. Very nice and smart guy. And he picks on people in class if he knows you aren't paying attention. This is college, not grade school... do the work!

Easy A, just as long as you do your work. Do NOT expect to pass by showing up in class, do some work as well. Participation is the key.

Professor Guiu is AMAZING!!!! He's very down to earth, humorous, and easy to understand. All you have to do is show up to class (a few absences are okay), read the material (usually short readings), do all of your assignments (short posting on Blackboard), and participate in class.

Participation is what keeps the class interesting bc discussion is a big part of it. That being said, Prof. Guiu is passionate about what he teaches. He's down to earth and a very easy grader. He said we'd have 3 papers, but we had 5 to write. Overall, the class was interesting and easy. He also gave extra credit. I'd take him again.

I really enjoyed having him as my professor. He's pretty laid back, and as long as you participate, you will not fail this course.

He lets you know right away what you need to pass the class. We had papers and weekly postings. As long as you do all of it and put effort and actual meaning in what you write you will be good. He picks on people to read out loud for the class and answer questions. Will put you on the spot a lot. But he is a good person who wants students to pass.

Professor Guiu has opened my eyes, he is such a smart man who loves knowledge and makes lessons fun and easy to understand. He offers a lot of extra credit and he is really funny. He is honestly my favorite professor I've ever had I wish I can retake his class.

For those who have said worst class and to not take are those who really just didn't care so don't listen to that. He's an awesome professor that you can learn a lot if you at least listen to what he says or take notes. Easy class as long as you do your assignments, he'll give you plenty of chances to make up work which was huge for me. Bring books

He is a wonderful professor! I loved this class. You will learn a lot. You obviously have to attend in order to pass. He gives you enough time to complete any homework and papers. You have to be checking your e-mail in order to be up to date.

I was very delighted with Prof Guiu class It was truly a rich and rewarding experience. I was very inspired and the class room discussion really broadened my views For teaching such a sensitive topic, he did a very outstanding job on presenting us with the different religions. He gave tons of extra credit and a fair chance to get an A in his class

Guiu is a fun man. He keeps the class interesting and often makes jokes. He doesn't do pop quizes nor exams. Just do essays and read! He can get upset if class doesn't read. Also you have to make up for the absenses. I would definitely take him again.

Professor Guiu is a really great teacher! Having taken his class really helped me in understanding many western religions. You will definitely have to read, but it all helps when it comes to writing a paper for this class. He is funny, informative, and clear when answering questions of students.

He is the most inspiring and encouraging prof. that I have ever met that is truly passionate about what he does and compassionate towards his students. My mindset and worldview definitely was broadened because of his unique teaching that isn't about memorization , but actually learning and thinking critically. He is hilarious in his own way!

What an amazing experience !! Professor Guiu puts his heart in teaching and goes above and beyond to convey his knowledge. Wilbur is very lucky to have such a dedicated Professor on their staff. It was a privilege to attend professor's Guiu lectures. Each lesson was empowering and inspirational. It made me look at the world in a more positive way

This Professor is one of the best Professor. He gives you a lot of extra credit to make up points. Like if you are late, you're absent, or got a bad grade on one of the essays. It is an easy A, he however he does pick on people, but he wants everyone to participate. Participation also counts. His class is one of the easiest. There are NO test!

I love that he offers extra credit. He does like to make a lot of jokes and he sometimes calls out on students if participation is less than stellar. Also, being late is one of his pet peeves. There is no final exam. Just do your readings, attend class, make sure to write all 5 papers and check blackboard daily. Overall, I liked the class a lot.

I took an ethic philosophy class with professor, Guiu, last semester, and it was my best choice because the class helped me develop my potential and understand my identity in this society. After finishing the semester, I realized that improving my own quality is more important than pursuing a job in this society. Thank you, professor, Guiu.

Very likable, easy going, funny, likes to poke good-natured fun which can rub some people the wrong way. The papers are not harshly graded, but the focus of the class is more on the experience of having religion than learning about the history, traditions, etc which I found disappointing. Overall good person/teacher, but also quite disorganized.

Professor Guiu is always in such high spirits. He has a great sense of humor. He is pretty fair when it comes to grading students. Lectures are fair and the extra credit he gives really helped me develop my critical thinking skills. I am satisfied with the class. I'm beginning to understand what builds a person's character. Very nice, energetic teacher. He is a fair grader, but don't take the class if you are not willing to participate. Class discussions were interesting, especially when there are disagreements within the class. There is an emphasis on one particular religion throughout the semester, but it was enjoyable to learn nonetheless. He's super tall too.

Awesome class that I could ever take!! It was more refreshing to take this class with heavy science classes. Taking class with Prof. will definitely teach you lots about religion. Attend the class regularly and finish the assignments on time, participate in the lectures, because it counts. He will give several documentaries to get more idea

Prof. Guiu is great! Always in a good mood and likes to crack jokes. He engages the class in group discussions based on readings outside of class. No hard tests or quizzes, just readings and paper assignments.

He is a nice professor he will give you extensions but make sure that you don't abuse of his kindness. He is a very humorous guy. You have to be ready to also read because from the books that you are assigned to read they will be discussed in class don't doubt it one second. Make sure your are ready to write many papers but he's not a hard grader.

Professor Adrian is a great professor. Make very funny jokes but don't be offended if he does. Very intelligent on the books you read in class. YOU MUST be on time and also read the material and have book in class to pass. You must read and have the book because you need to pass the essay's to have an easy A. DO THE WORK and you will pass.

Professor Guiu is kind, funny and great professor. He makes learning about different religions very interesting. My favorite part of the class was going on a field trip to a Buddhist temple. He offers a good amount of extra credit that consists of short essays. Overall, I would highly recommend you take this course. Attendance is mandatory!

Dr. Guiu is a great lecturer and mentor. He's passionate about teaching and inspires his students. To succeed in this class: Read the assigned reading for the night and participate in class discussions. There are also a few short writing assignments. Don't skip class because participation matters. Great experience overall.

He is a very laid back guy - all classes were just discussing the ideas from the reading assignments. 3 papers due - each at least 1000 words. He likes to call on ppl just to hear their opinions. He jokes often, so the class atmosphere is not so uptight

He is a goofball but full of amazing and insightful thoughts. He makes class really enjoyable and there is no way you will fall asleep in this class. He is a very knowledgeable person and I wish I can take another class of his. As long as you connect quotes from the readings into your papers you will do great!

Professor Guiu is really sweet and he's goofy. He really has passion for what he teaches and is happy to go off track to talk about a random (related) question. His assignments are great, but prepare to read a good amount. I would absolutely take another one of his classes.

He's very cool - I had four classes with him REL 101 & 106, PHIL 107 & HUM 205. Most of the time he will have discussions and likes to participate, but if you're shy you can fill that gap in your grade with extra work that he gives at the end of the semester. Very understandable if you need more time with your essays. Learned a lot from his classes

Took four of Dr. Guiu's classes. Amazing professor. Cares about students. Easy to talk to. 4-5 main papers which are fairly easy if you understand the concepts. Most of the homework is reading/documentaries. I would highly recommend to take ANY/ALL of his classes. My favorite professor at CCC. His classes will make you grow as a person. 100/100

Professor Guiu is pretty great; he's my favorite professor @ CCC. He's funny, knowledgeable and insightful. The reading is heavier, but well worth it. Papers are not complex and he teaches Socratically for a lot of his class, so participation is important. I personally grew a lot from his class on Ethics. Will take another of his courses.

Honestly I was intimidated to take a Philosophy course because many have said its a difficult subject, but taking Professor Guiu's Phil 107 changed my perspective of it. His lessons revolving around ethics and applying it to our current society made me enjoy his class and the subject. If you need to fulfill a humanities course, he's your guy !

Dr. Adrian was exceptional. His depth of knowledge in his field was evident in every lecture, and he was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that students understood the material. The instructor had a unique ability to engage the class and make the subject matter interesting, which made the coursework much more enjoyable.

You have to write several papers, but they do not have to be too long. 2-4 pages, but he isn't a harsh grader, you will most likely get an A or B as long as the work is genuinely yours and not plagiarized.

Excellent class and professor. I loved the content and the prof did a great job of letting people discuss and voice their opinions. He's great to engage with and really listens to what you have to say. Papers were fun and easy to write because they were always about your opinion and how you relate to the material. Dr. Guiu is a good man and an exceptional educator with a profound knowledge of religion. He assigned a reasonable amount of reading and writing, further complementing his lectures. Dr. Guiu fostered an environment of open dialogue among his students. If you want to deepen your knowledge of religion, Dr. Guiu's class will exceed your expectations.

He has a lot of knowledge, and you learn something new in each class. This class was very rewarding, as I learned a lot. Make sure to keep up with the essays and documentaries.

I don't really know how to explain this, but he's one of the few professors I've had that has felt like an actual human being in class... perceptive, funny and really, really informed on what he's talking about. Doesn't entertain BS answers, make sure you actually pay attention in class. Interesting class even as someone not interested in religion.

Dr.Guiu is an amazing! first day he started with some jokes and wisdom I loved his class there wasn't a lecture where he didn't crack a joke very joyful and funny he teaches you a lot about the different religions in a intellectual view and spiritual knowledge he even took us on a field trip somewhere close to campus to meet with a Buddhist monk:)

Dr. Guiu's online, asynchronous ethics class (Phil 107) was by far, the best class I took at any of the City Colleges. His high ratings on this site are what led me to choose his class. He threw away the boring textbook and used his own curated selections - books and other videos - to cover the class's material. Amazing, thoughtful, and personable!

One of the best professors I ever had. He is a very understanding, laidback, and very mindful person. He's one of the only few professors where I feel comfortable having a full on conversation with. His home works are easy and straight to the point. I highly recommend taking any class with him, especially in person. Already took 3 classes with him.

This professor was really great I took him my first semester of college and didn't know what to expect and he was very chill and really questioned your thinking on a variety of philosophy perspectives. The work isn't hard at all just take notes and really try and put in effort to the essays he assigns, highly recommend taking him.

Great professor! as long as you do the work you're supposed to you'll be fine.I don't like how the prof' assign homework middle of the week also you can't access all the all the assignments all at once so you don't know what the next homework is going to be. You have to check the announcement like every other day. He use AI to grade just an fyi.

He is chill, but he does make you participate. In our online class, he would randomly call on students to read the chapter (popcorn reading). We had an essay for each religion we covered. Not a tough grader. I would retake the class.
