He is very interesting. He loves anatomy and physiology. His test are straight forward and he gives review and a HELPFUL study guide. If you want a complete understanding TAKE him. He is an easy professor but you must STUDY the info (alot). That is not a problem because every A&P is alot of info.He gives easy bonus questions on the test, easy extra
HE IS VERY COOL. HE IS YOUR BEST CHOICE FOR A&P. HE KNOWS ANATOMY INSIDE AND OUT LIKE THE BACK OF HIS HAND. HIS CLASS IS A LOT OF FUN. HE GIVES YOU WHAT IS ON THE TEST.
He's a great teacher.
HE IS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER IF YOU FAILED HIS CLASS THEN YOU'RE LAZY. HIS STUDY GUIDES ARE BASICALLY THE TEST ( STUDY EVERYTHING ON THE STUDY GUIDE AND YOU WILL PASS HIS CLASS) I GOT AN "A", VERY PRECISE BUT YOU WILL LEARN IN HIS CLASS
Good teacher. Highly recommended. He's only out to help his students pass
Great Teacher, if you want to learn about anatomy and physiology, and see cool pictures of diseases and pass, he is it.
You dont want to miss his class because you do have quizzes. You will learn a lot of information, he does help his students out if he sees your doing your part.
He knows his anatomy. Very helpful, the exam is the study guide. You have to STUDY!!! A lot of information but he will make sure you understand
Excellent teacher. Just start studying the review packet as soon as he gives it to you and use the active online website to learn all the diagrams he require.
Easy if you study!!!!! Make sure you go to class he does pop quizzes!!!!!!He uses this average to drop a test grade!!
he is a fantastic teacher. he teaches really well. n helps u out of class. u dont use the textbook much(i did fine w/o it) but his lab book is a must if u dont have a laptp. he tells you everything u need 2 kno. the studyguide is the test. but dont let the rating fool u. he is NOT easy. he is HARD and most of my class was failing.but i got an A:-)
Dr. McCollum is the bomb!
Man I loved Dr. McCollum's class!!! I really learned a lot in both Lecture and Lab!!
This class is not easy but its not hard either. He gives you a study guide for each test which has everything on it. so if you know the packet you can easily pass the test!he doesnt take roll but he gives random quizzes which are easy but you have to be in class to take them!
BE PREPARED TO STUDY HARD! HIS STUDY GUIDE IS THE TEST,AND YOU HAVE TO MEMORIZE ALL THE FIGURES! I MEAN ALL! HE IS VERY GOOD AT TEACHING AND YOU MUST SHOW UP TO EVERY CLASS MEETING TO DO WELL, DONT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH OTHER CLASSES THAT NEED ALOT OF ATTENTION CUZ HIS CLASS TAKES UP ALOT OF YOUR TIME! GREAT TEACHER..JUST STUDY HARD
GO TO CLASS! He gives a quiz after every chapter. They helped me pass. Study everything on the review he hands out and you'll pass.
Extremely bright young man. Do not underestimate him or his classes. Heavy textbook useage, heavy on the lectures and tests are 8-12 pages long. You must attend classes because he give lots of quizzes and many of his exam questions come from notes from his lectures. A combination of lecture notes, quizzes, attendance are required to pass his class.
He definitely knows his stuff. But you have to try in his class....it's extremely important that you study, because his tests are exactly what he says in class. He's willing to help if you ask. A little eccentric, but overall a nice guy :)
i had him for anatomy and physiology I. the course is pretty easy, just read the book or go to class. He gives a study guide for every test.
He is a very good teacher and he knows his stuff. He is a very helpful guy. He gives study guides for all his exams, however, the exams are EXTREMELY hard. You have to study A LOT for this class. Only about half of my class is passing right now. He doesn't curve at all. You get what you get.
he is a really good teacher to take for the lecture but his lab class is another story. The lab is ridiculous!! the lecture however is alot easier and everything is directly from the study guides.
great guy, better teacher. You will definitely learn. however his tests are hard and long. if u didnt have him for AP1 dont take him for AP2. you will fail.
Wonderful professor and very helpful. Always running late, but makes up for it with making you understand. Lab with him is hard, but you will understand this material! I suggest him if you have to use anatomy later on in your education or career.
I love Dr. Mccollum, I failed the first 2 test because of MY laziness, then I started paying attention and noticed that he was basically giving us the answers on his study guide. All you have to do is study and read the book.We only had 4 tests in his class, I received a B out of his class, and I know my grades were not the best!! He is awesome!!!
Dr. McCollum is a really great teacher. He gives you study guides that are exactly like what he puts on the test. Always running late though...*sigh*...lol. He gives in class quizzes, but drops the lowest 4 grades. He also gives 4 tests and drops the lowest one. He's not easy, but if you study and pay attention, you'll do fine.
AWESOME teacher. He expects you to know your stuff come test time but he gives you all of the material.
DR. Mccolum has been one of the most helpful professors i've had my 3 years at FAMU!He doesn't take roll ever class but he gives attendance, pop, and open note and book quizzes about 10 or more a semester. His test are long! He's usually not on time to class...He gives study guides!
He tells you everything you need to know for test. If you study what he says you will be fine. He has VERY detailed tests! and it is alot of information but its not impossible. He is NEVER on time, but never misses a class.
This professor is no joke. You really have to take his class seriously! I recommend you not to take this class with another Science. It'll be a challenge if you do. He gives POWERPOINTS, STUDYGUIDES, and he's more than willing to explain anything to you if you go to his office with questions. It's a hard class indeed, but you will pass!!
A very corny teacher. He has he lamest jokes. He is extremely verbose, he loves to hear himself talk. He needs to be more concise when it comes to the labs, there is no reason to lecture for almost 3 hrs in a lab! He is never punctual, he is always late & will have you waiting an hour or more to take a test. He isnt hard but id prefer a diff. prof.
take hime for lecture, not for lab... eventhough he is easy take him only for lecture. his lab test is hard, he dosent do any curve at the end for the lab.
This is my third class by Dr.McCollum and as always he is one of the best professors at Florida A&M University. He's always late to his classes, goes about an hour over the allotted time, and makes you wait about an hour to take your test, but he's a swell teacher. Utilize his powerpoints and study guides because they will help you the most.
Hes a pretty decent teacher, you really have to be serious about his class though. Its WAYYYY TOOO many pictures he puts on the test an too much stuff to remember on it. but overall hes okay. DONT take him for LAB.. ITS WORSE!
Mccollum is ok for anatomy I but anatomyII is a whole different story! Every since he started giving his tests online it has been terrible. He gives too much information for one test any way too many pictures! Its gonna seem as though its nearly impossible. you REALLY have to study everyday for this class!!!
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR AP2!!!! AP1 IS OK BUT AP2 IS A DIFFERENT STORY. HE PUTS SO MANY PICS ON THE TEST AND U HAVE TO KNOW ALL PARTS TO THE PIC AND INSTEAD OF HIM GIVE U A-D TO CHOOSE FROM HE GIVES U A-T AND THAT WILL CONFUSE YOU. GREAT TEACHER BUT CLASS IT TOOOOOO HARD!!!
MCcollum is really going on some kind of power trip. Anatomy I was way easier then AnatomyII. He literatelly gives like 100 pictures per test that you have to know which can seem almost impossible because you have more classes to study for instead of just his. I would definately not recommend you take Mccollum for A&PII.
Dr. McCollum is one of the best professors at FAMU! Ask him any question about Anatomy and Physiology and he will break it down so that you understand clearly. If you pay attention in class and study all of the figures listed on the review sheet, youll do fine. Just because you have to EARN an A or a B in his class doesnt make him a bad proffesor.
McCollum is the absolute worst professor I have ever had. warning: DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
HE CRAZY DO NOT TAKE HIM
He is an Excellent professor who knows his material which makes understanding A&P very interesting, I had him for both A&P 1 and 2 and is very grateful that I took him.
He is one of the best professors at this University. He explains things so that it's easy to understand. You don't need your textbook, the info is all in his powerpoints. If you're lazy this isn't the class for you, though. He makes sure you know your stuff *which you need to know to be good in your profession anyway* so it's a lot of info.
McCollum knows EVERYTHING about AP1 & 2!HE is really smart but excepts you to memorize ENTIRELY TOO MUCH INFORMATION!! If you really want to learn about the body TAKE HIM but if you trying to take some1 easy his is not the person for you! YOU WILL EARN YOUR GRADE! BUT you don't have to buy the book his powerpoints and study sheets are very helpful
I LOVE DR.McCOLLUM.His class is hard but he is so helpful and makes everything understandable. If you love a challenge and are not looking for someone to just hand you a grade, then he is the teacher for you.
I had him for Anatomy 2 Lab and Lecture. He was great professor and he made the class so interesting and fun that you didn't mind putting in the extra effort to study for it. All of his exams are online so you have to take them at the computer lab. It's challenging but totally worth it! Study the quizzes and powerpoints!
He looks like Ronnie from Jersey Shore!! LMAO!! But anyways he is a good teacher..He is not easy as people on here make him out to be. YOU EARN YOUR GRADE IN THIS CLASS! aka You have to study!!
I hated biology and Anatomy until I met McCollum. We studied so hard, my study group and I are life long friends. He made the topic so interesting he made corny jokes but i loved them. You do not need a book, study his powerpoints to the T. He will teach even if no one is there, very passionate about the subject. My group all made A's. Not easy to ge
This is for his Lab. I took him For Anatomy 1,2 with labs. Best professor. Lab is not joke in I but for II it gets better. Please take him you will learn so much, especially if you are in the health field. I made a B 2 points away from an, You get what you deserve. If you are a .5 point away from an A you will still get a B. I still will refer him.
he's one of the best professor that I have had at FAMU. His class is tough/challenge! I njoy all of his lectures,he's funny and break his lessons down so you can understand. He teaches alot... So study and don't get behind. Everything he goes over in class and his notes you need to know everything for his test. He def prepared me for my program
Great teacher. He really knows the material and makes learning it interesting. If you have to take anatomy he would be a good choice. He dosen't just give you the grade but he gets you where you want to go
Study, Study, Study or he will fail you. It's a lot of information to learn just study little by little.
McCollum is a GREAT professor, you WILL learn the material BUT his test are NO joke. STUDY STUDY STUDY and you will pass
Dr. McCollum is an amazing professor! He is very passionate about teaching and has his own special ways to engage you in learning the material. He does give you a lot of information to learn, but its truly worth it! If you make flash cards and go over the material daily, you'll do well.
STUDY! i cant stress that enough for his class! he makes sure you know the information when you leave his class! you get what you earn his class. i was 1pt i bs you not from getting a B and he still gave me a C. his notes are very helpful and worth it! i kept his notes even after the class to use in the future!
His test are very challenging ,but if you study his study guide and memorize every single detail of the pictures in his power point, you will pass. He's a good teacher!
This man teaches you like you are in school for your ph.d in A&P. i would recommend that you take this class with a light load because you will spend all your time only studying for his class. his tests are BRICK TOUGH. if you are not a study person please withdraw!
Check Blackboard constantly, pay attention to his slides during class (SPECIALLY NAMES), as long as you study his exam reviews (which are very good) you will get no lower than a B
He really knows his stuff! Pay attention because he does give you a lot of information for the exams. I enjoyed the class for the most part. He is pretty down to earth and his references help with the exams. Pay attention to his references!
Awesome teacher but exams are usually pretty tough in Anatomy 2. Very funny and knowledgeable professor. You will learn a lot but not an easy A.
Not hard at all, you just need to study. Everything is done on Blackboard, quizzes and tests. For tests, he makes everyone come to one room. Doesn't take attendance, but if he does random attendance, he just makes it so those people don't have to take a quiz. He comes late most of the time. Just study the stud guides and you'll be fine.
Cool Professor, Very funny. Test and Quizzes are online but test are in one room. MUST STUDY!!!!!! He makes it sound easy when lecturing but his test are extremely hard
He makes you work so hard for a one credit class. His exams are 100 questions and you have an hour to complete it. You MUST study.
He is very good teacher his class is super easy if you study and read the book and his PowerPoint and the study guides and do the online quizzes. He is super funny and you will love the class, he drops you lowest test and replaces it with your quiz avg
not hard if you can memorize or learn.don't need a book he gives powerpts with everything he is SUPER funny and makes class interesting TAKE HIM. he is a great professor he requires alot but gives you everything. make notecards they will save your life
Honestly, He is the best professors for A&P2. His class is hard but I take pride that my C was earned and not given (no shade intended). Everything is on the PowerPoint. No book needed. Go to class because he counts attendance as quizzes. If you want to learn something from this course that will help you in your healthcare field. I suggest him.
This is the man right here. Take him if you want to learn. Yes I said learn. He curves the test to the highest grade so just do your best. I EARNED my A. Studied about 15-35 hours per test.
Dr. McCollum is the man. His class is really difficult if you do not work. If you are a hard worker you'll be fine. If you want an easy A take someone else. His tests are a lot to handle, but if you've studied you can make a B at least. Just work hard and make sure he knows you, and you'll be fine.
Come to class, read all powerpoints, and do all extra credit. He is a great professor. I recieved a B.
Dr. McCollum's class is NO JOKE! Study EVERYDAY! He requires you to know a lot of information and he has a lot of images on his test. If you do not pay attention, come to class, or study do not take his course (drop out of college too). If he offers extra credit. DO IT!
You wont be bored, he's funny, lectures are long but not boring, an A is possible if you study (duh, it's college), but the material is not hard to remember if you study. He is very helpful. If you want to learn, have fun, but don't mind studying to get n A, take him.
This guy is a light skinned Anthony Anderson. Run up and tickle him on the first day and you'll probably get an A. Take him. Tests are hard but at the end you got extra credit you can do. just study the stuff he provides you and you will pass. If his hair isn't dyed then don't tickle him until after he dyes his hair.
I took him for lab and lecture during the summer , and let me tell you this man can make ABC's sound difficult. You can study your butt off and still won't make more then a C but he does curve test . If you care about your gpa or looking for easy an A take someone else. He is good proa fessor though I have to give him that.
He is a walking book . If you are serious about pursuing a career in the medical field, take him .
STUDY EVERYDAY. Tests are very hard but he provides power points online for you to study ahead of time. Lectures are very interesting and he breaks down everything for you to understand. STUDYING is the key point to doing well on the tests. Memorize every label on almost every picture/diagram he provides you with on the power points too.
He really knows what he's talking about. His lectures are interesting but his test are tough. You have to STUDY to pass his test. If your willing to learn and study but have fun doing it then this is the class for you but if your trying to get an easy A then this isn't the class for you. Goodluck!
McCollum knows his stuff. ALOT of information to take in. Tests are really hard and long. He does curve tests. Gives extra credit.
Wonderful professor! He is very passionate and is willing to help you! I failed 2/4 of my exams and received a B out of the class. He curves like crazy and gives extra credit.
Smartest Professor I know. This man knows his material. Go to class everyday because you have a lot of information to take in. Test are hard but bearable. Go over the study guide and powerpoints and you should pass the tests. He keeps the class entertained by having students interact with him and from his funny scenarios.
THE BEST PROFESSOR!! he really knows his stuff!! there is a lot of information, but thats expected. he gives you extras credit out the butthole. if you study.. you will pass. point blank. I highly recommend this man. his lectures are not only informational, but he attaches a real life aspect to it that makes you understand the concept better.
He's a good professor. He goes off topic A LOT. But overall everything he covers in class WILL be on the exam. Make sure to stay after class to ask any questions and pay attention, anatomy is more interesting than you think. Quizzes will be given throughout the semester and he will allow you to retake a few at the end of the semester.
For any health majors who wants to have a successful career and plans on furthering your degree take him. His test are very long but everything are on the slides, they wont be that hard as long as you study. He really cares about his students learning and will continue to break down material til you get it. He also curves test and give extra credit.
I went into his AP 2 class thinking that it would be just like AP 1 but it is WAY more information and tests are WAY more tricky. The key to passing the test is literally reviewing his power points and study guides everyday. Also he will put AP 1 questions on his test so please don't forget that past information. The extra credit is a must do.
there are 4 exams and a quiz average for your grade accumulation. but only 4 out of those 5 assignments count towards your grade. I took from for A&P1 and 2. he says if you take 2 of his classes and pass with an A or B and get a 60 or higher on his final he'll write a letter of recommendation.
Had him for A&P 1 and pass with an A but I would not recommand him for A&P 2 . Lots lots lots of information and the test are hard you would have to study really hard and can not study last minute you will fail. I would find someone else to take for A&P 2.
Love Dr. McCollum. He is very passionate. I recommend printing out the power points and write notes. Highlight the powerpoint pictures that he says is going to be on the exam and study them. His exam reviews are already available and if you study them exactly, you will get an A in this class. Study to pass. He gives extra credit opportunities.
He is passionate about the subject and is very knowledgeable which is great, but he gets carried away and rambles on and on a bit too frequently. Its a whole lot of a material to learn so dont study today for tomorrow. He is petty however, and if the class makes a role he completely ignores it and makes his own.
Hes very hard however, if you're willing to work for your grade and show him you care he will pass you. He cares about his students and will make any time for ythat you need.
i honestly didn't do well but it isnt his fault. I hate lectures and if you do too dont take him. Also, he does like 3 chapters a test.. which i didnt like.. if you have no problem with a huge workload and limited time to prepare for an exam, take him. he does provide plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Dr McCollum is very passionate! Class is honestly not that bad. His tests are heavy! You have to study and if you do, you are good! He gives study guides and tells you what to study! If you get anything less than a C then its you TBH...
His tests are very hard and difficult to pass but he offers extra credit before you take the test and curves it as well. He also likes to do donations for extra credit. Take him at your risk, make above a 50% on every test and you'll pass with a B or higher. He drops the lowest test too. Everybody will pass his class, guaranteed!
His labs are very hard. Theres 100 questions on the test & you have to stand up & take it. I dont recommend him but he does gives extra credit.
He does pop auizzes. His tests consist of 4 chapters each. You definitely need to come to class and study to pass.
His is a good teacher, but class was ALOT I ended up with an A but it was alot of work.
Professor MuCollum is by far the best Anatomy teacher on Florida A&M campus. His lectures are very interesting and shows that he really cares about the correct information that we are receiving. You will definitely have to work for the A but it helps you build character in the long run. An Anatomy book edition will work just fine. STUDY STUDY! -A
If this is your first semester for A&P I recommend that you don't take him at all! This class is extremely difficult for no reason. If it had not been for the COVID-19 pandemic and Wills study sessions, I would've failed this class. I recommend that you find someone else to take. Do Not Take Him for LAB especially, TRUST ME!!!!!
great anatomy professor. take him!! test are heavy though, but each exam is curved & have extra credit points. he also offers extra credit at the end of the semester that could help you a whole letter grade.
Honestly is a great professor who is passionate about what hes teaching a you cant tell. His test are actually SO HARD though you need to study hard and be ahead to pass!! Also attending class helps because his lectures are very heavy but what he mentions will be on the test. You wont pass if you dont work hard though!!
He does give extra credit!!! like alot so that's that but as far as his tests they are hard and he expects you to know everything on all the diagrams and multiple diagrams on top of other definitions and pictures and whatnot. definitely a class you have to pay attention in, attendance is not mandatory but he does give random attendance quizzes
His class is very fast paced and he gives a lot of Information. He curves every test expect finals. Gives extra credit. Also gives letter of recommendations if you pass his finals 60 or higher and take him 2 times.
-Excellent teacher (genuinely knows how & loves to teach) -4 tests including the final... quiz avg counts as a test grade... lowest test grade is dropped -Tests are heavy... but easy if you study the powerpoints... & by study I mean STUDY! -Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended -So much extra credit available... you'll only fail if you try to
It is very difficult compared to his lecture class ALOT OF MEMORIZATION of diagrams, pictures and details you wouldn't think to study, study EVERYTHING it is very test and lecture heavy there is hardly any "lab" work He's a very great teacher and I would recommend him as a better fit if you have to take Anatomy Lecture.
Avoid him at all cost for anatomy lab classes. he gives us 100 question exams on so many different topics at a time.
better than most professors, his lectures are interesting sometimes. we only did lab simulations, test, online quizzes and pop quizzes for a grade. you should pass if you take him
Show up to class. He makes the classes very interesting. DO YOUR WORK and I promise you will get an A or B. Do not procrastinate 10/10 teacher and course I would take again!
great professor! he is enthusiastic about teaching anatomy and you can tell he loves what he does. class consist of 3 exams + a final, labsters, and quizzes. do ALL of your work & show up to class and you are guaranteed an A in his class.
Dr. McCollum was a great professor and loves what he does. His grading scale is not weighted so you only fail if you try. He drops the lowest test or quiz average (depending on which is lower) including the final. His test are very long so make sure u use the study guide!
He is excited about teaching. Attending the lectures isn't that important as they are posted, but he does do random quizzes that don't count for too much. You must do a lot of Labsters, which are easy, but time-consuming. His tests are long, but not too difficult if you study and they're just taken canvas. He will be late and go over time in class.
Creepy and extremely unprofessional
Man oh man, he will lecture for the whole lab, but he cares about his students for sure. It's a lot of information but if you study his power points you should be okay. Your final is proctored
Great professor. No lockdown. Quizzes are easy. Gives extra credit for exams and for your grade. Exams are an easy 70-100 questions. Most material for exams are in the powerpoints. Sometimes late to class but not too much. Recommend him over the other anatomy professors. Not hard if you study before hand. Definitely should use Quizlet for studying.
Had him for lab and lec in the fall (BSC2085). Recommend the lec but not lab. Just overwhelmingly too much to memorize. 2nd exam is a lab practical which was hard. He does curve tests. No lockdown but does have students from other classes proctor. He does give extra credit all semester. I wouldn't take him for lab again but definitely lecture.
I would not recommend for Lab. His test can vary from 70-100 questions. They are beyond hard and every question is multiple choice with 7 choices or fill in diagrams that he expects you to know without going over it. Class test average was a 42%. Attendance is not mandatory but if only a few show up, he will use it as a quiz grade. Good Luck.
DO NOT TAKE HIM CLASS WILL STRESS YOU OUT!!!!!!
I enjoyed mr. McCollum class and I would take him again, I would just say its a lot of information to take in and sometimes you're memorizing stuff that's not even on the test, he does drop the lowest grade, if you pass the first 3 exams you can skip final, he also accommodate those who need to take exams early.
I took Dr. McCollum's Anatomy I Lecture. He does not take attendance, but he does have "attendance pop quizzes" that can not be made up. Additionally, his test are very lengthy and are based on his lectures (250+ PP slides). If you get anything below a B in this class, it is simply because you did not put in enough effort to study the powerpoints.
Taken Dr. McCollum for Anatomy 1 and 2 and will assert he is a great professor, however, lectures are long and he often jokes a lot to the point where he has to rush through the slides at the end, so be prepared to study on your own. Hard to fail this class, he grades based on the total number of points you earn.
