This was his first year teaching, but he was really nice and asked the class how he could improve his teaching every couple of weeks. His examples helped a lot on the homeworks and to prepare for the exams. He hosted reviews for the exams on his own time as well. Really nice and caring professor for Linear Algebra, would take again!
He tries his best to convey as much as he can to the class. But with the course load being heavy and his lectures being unstructured it gets confusing. But in comparison to other professors (that will be left open after the 1st of enrollment) he is the one you want to choose. Trust.
he cant rlly teach tbh. lectures unstructured and i ended up self-studying for most of the course. his handwriting is small and it was hard to read even in the front three rows. he does care a lot through and always asks if students have questions. i can tell he is rlly passionate and smart. with experience, i know he'll get better at teaching.
Great professor that asked for feedback on improving his teaching. He did plenty of examples as well.
He cares a lot about teaching and is always making sure his students understand the material. He strives to improve more as he asks for feedback. Provides a lot of examples so you are able to better understand the concepts. And funny!
He really cares about if students understand what is taught, is open to repeating topics, and encourages questions. He's passionate about math. He has an accent and writing can be hard to read, but doesn't mind reading it again. If there's a genuine reason for a late assignment, like a health reason, he'll work with you to fix it. Would recommend!
I would NOT recommend taking any classes that he teaches. He just writes stuff on the board in hopes that you'll eventually understand but most of the time the class is incredibly lost. His explanations do not help at all. He wants you to do problems his way or else he will deem them as wrong. Just avoid this professor overall to save your sanity.
im not even in his class but i come to his lectures because my prof isn't good, but dude goes over content well, does his best to try and stop and ask if his class understands. his handwriting is sometimes a little hard to read but goes over content and also does practice problems. definitely one of the best linear algebra profs.
Dr. Murza is an extremely passionate and caring professor. He hasn't been teaching for that long, but his lectures improved throughout the semester. He loves feedback, and takes it to heart. After one lecture the class was a bit lost and he asked how to improve his lectures. He implented our advice for the rest of the semester. Take Murza!
This professor is truly passionate towards math. He is very caring for his students and tries to accommodate for special circumstances. I really enjoyed taking for linear algebra and learned a lot by attending his lectures!
He is a great professor who really enjoys what he is teaching and knows his stuff. He is always available during his office hours and Is willing to help with any questions you have. Definitely my favorite math professor here at UTD.
If you participate the class will be great. Adrian is respectful and caring towards his students. Give him your attention and he will be a great mentor and asset for you.
Pretty sure I had him for his first semester at UTD (fall2022) but was still a v good professor despite issues w school/office stuff. Responded quickly to emails & is an understanding person. He def forgot my name >once lol but he is friendly & caring & I would take again. Made calc pretty easy to understand & always made sure to answer questions
really really nice guy. i dont think hes the best teacher but not the worst either because he goes really fast and doesnt explan thaaat well. but hes very available, answers all questions and encourages them, generous to give points back, if you ask him many questions will answer all happilly and will sit with you. open to feedback. really sweet.
Professor Murza really cares about his students. He went above and beyond to make sure everybody understood the material. If you didn't do well in the class you either didn't participate or didn't attend lecture. Went over lecture material and extra practice problems. Overall great class and professor.
Professor is very helpful in class and during Office Hours.
Linear algebra is a difficult class but this professor really does his best to have you understand the material. Sometimes his lectures does correlate with the homework but he tries to go over the homework in class and give you a guide on how to complete it. By far the most kind professor I've had. PAY ATTENTION. GO TO CLASS. START HOMEWORK EARLY.
He has sloppy handwriting but tries his best to explain the problems and asks the class if they understand. I feel like it would be easier if he had better handwriting but overall he's an awesome teacher.
He was an amazing professor who was always available to help during his office hours or outside of class. Would definitely take again!
Prof. Murza goes over the class material efficiently and he receives feedback extremely well too. I was unsure about PreCalc going into it, however, I learned more from this class than from my high school pre-cal class.
This professor is the best for Math 2418. He lectures well, and asks for feedback so he can improve. He does provide examples similar to homework if asked. The course is very difficult, and the current coordinator and TAs make the course more difficult than it should be, especially the exams. USE OFFICE HOURS! He wants his students to succeed.
Very great prof with tons of aura. Sadly the coordinator is a POS with a stick up their ahh which made this course way harder than it needed to be. Take this class at Dallas College or something. Murza had no control of this horrible coordinator and he was as great as he could of been.
He's empathetic and explains concepts clearly. His office hours help a lot, he prioritizes understanding the concepts, knowing that calculation errors can happen to anyone so he grades leniently. This has helped students who make calculation mistakes be less prone to failing ridiculously. I'll def take him for another course in the future.
He's a good professor. If you articulate your question well, he will have an answer for you. Confusion after the lectures (if there's any) could easily be resolved with textbook. There's also a lot of outside resources provided to you for this course. Professor is open to take suggestions from his students regarding course structures, etc.
The absolute best Math Prof! He is a very positive person, always trying to help you in all ways possible, and goes over concepts multiple times - I remember him teaching many concepts over 10 times, so that nobody is left confused in class He asks for feedback and actually implements it, you are very lucky if you get into his class :) Midsem: A-
Professor Murza is a good lecturer who is receptive to feedback and makes sure that his students understand the material well. Occasionally, he covers example problems from the homework. Attend the lectures, go to office hours, read the textbook/do example problems, and you will do well!
Dr. Murza is an amazing professor. He prepares you well for exams and assignments in his lectures. His teaching is very well organized, and he is very helpful. One of the best professors I've had!
The course can be fairly difficult and you'll need to put in a lot of effort to do well, but Dr. Murza makes it more manageable. Even though I was struggling a lot, he was very understanding and went over exam mistakes and questions I had. So absolutely attend lectures and his office hours whenever you can.
Professor Adrian is extremely caring and always ready to help his students. His lectures are well-structured and very helpful, making complex topics easier to understand. He genuinely wants his students to succeed and goes out of his way to provide support when needed. Highly recommend his classes!
Easily one of my favorite professors at UTD! Murza challenges you to do your best and is always more than happy to meet for tutoring. He asks for constructive criticism and is consistently looking for ways to improve his teaching. Murza is extremely dedicated to helping you succeed, if you put in the work you'll have no problem in this class!
Starting the semester he seemed helpful but became combative and dismissive as issues arose. Every midterm and many homework assignments had grading errors. His lack of understanding was clear through poor explanations + frequent “umms” while staring at the board. He had no control over many aspects of the course. I recommend taking someone else.
He is very helpful when it comes to teaching the topics! You can easily come to him and ask him any doubts you have. I think it is better to come to him during office hours because he would sit down with you to go over the exams or homework over and over until you get it. I honestly think he was a good teacher this semester
He's extremely knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about. He does have an accent though, and can sometimes get stuck trying to articulate himself in English. Nonetheless, he's amazing with wanting feedback and extremely open to correcting any wrong grading the TAs do. He implements feedback so take him seriously when he asks for some!
Murza is a caring professor. He understands that students have a life outside of lectures. The lectures are very structured and he prepares you well for each exam. The course is difficult by nature, but Murza makes it a tad easier!
First day of class he did not show up or send an email. He does not communicate, has not mastered what he is teaching, and does not oversee any grading, assignments, etc. You will fail unless you are insistent on re-grading exams/HW. Exams don't match the material + no calculators. As he says, "Your grade depends on your grader." Avoid this class.
If you're good at math, this is a blow off class. The exam reviews given are the same on the test, if you just remember the formulas, you'll get an easy A+. Easy homeworks. HOWEVER, if you are bad at math, maybe this isn't the best class for you. he mumbles sometimes over topics he is not familiar with. May be hard to understand.
He is the best professor for linear algebra at UTD. I will blindly take him again for any class. He explains the concepts very well and you can go to his office hours for any doubts. He is very funny as well.
He is caring but a terrible teacher unless you already know Precal. The TAs graded every exam and 4 of my HWs wrong by many points. He knew nothing about the grading or when/where exams were and claimed we needed to ask the "course coordinator" for everything. He came late the first day without an email and rarely came to office hours. Easy class.
Excellent professor. Really fun and cares about the students. I know of many students in other sections that would attend our lectures because his were so much better. The class isn't really tough if you pay attention and attend every quiz and do every hw. All sections follow the same structure and grading. I would take Murza again in any course.
Professor Murza often demonstrated his willingness to assist us if necessary. He constantly reminded us to ask for aid when we needed it and not to be silent about it. He makes time for pupils and is quite good at taking criticism. He is an excellent teacher, and if you let him help you, he will undoubtedly do it to the best of his abilities.
Linear algebra is a difficult subject but Adrian is great at teaching the material. Lectures actually make sense. Go to lectures, participate, ask questions in class and you'll be fine. Majority of the grade are from tests which is unfortunate but, if you go to office hours after the exam he'll help you out.
Dr. Murza is an amazing professor that cares about his students. Linear algebra is in no way an easy class but he made it much more tolerable. Just go to lectures, focus on the homeworks, make sure you understand the concepts behind them and you'll be fine! He's super accessible outside of class and always willing to help!
Professor Murza was so patient when teaching the course. While it is lecture heavy, he kept his lectures clear and engaging. He made sure everyone was on the same page before moving on, and he could always find out who was confused. He made sure he answered any and all questions. 10/10 would recommend.
Highly detailed and well-structured lectures. Patient with questions and outstanding circumstances with a sense of humor to boot. This is a standardized course, so the professor is not fully in charge of the homework, quizzes, or exams, but those are usually quite reasonable albeit sometimes memorization-heavy and tedious.
Prof. Murza is very caring and willing to help. He is not only there to help you academically, but is willing to support and accommodate for any difficult circumstance.
Very patient, responsive over emails, always open to feedback, and lectures were great. Always willing to explain things even when things seemed obvious and seemed to really love what he was teaching. 100% recommend his class!
The best Math Professor in department, hands down. The only reason people do bad with a good professor is because the class is just simply hard. For those taking this class, TAKE HIM as your professor. Go to ALL his lectures, Go to office hours, helpful there too, and for supplementals, i recommend the MIT lecture videos, (i wish i looked earlier).
LIn alg here is not good. Homeworks are tough and the exams can feel crazy, but Murza is the best lecturer you can pick from. He does the best test prep among the current professors and helps with the homework when he can. Email him about anything. He's a funny guy and gives a LOT of partial credit on exams if you go to him. PLTL REALLY helps too
Linear algebra is hard already on its own, but this professor is very very caring! Overall good and is open to any questions! Just nice overall.
I would say that I really struggled with Linear Algebra at first especially with the content from the lectures being confusing for me. However, this professor was always ready to help and always willing to hear students out. I really appreciated his efforts to help whether it was office hours or staying after class. Amazing teacher! Definitely take
The professor does a good job in teaching concepts and always encourages feedback from students to improve lectures. The class and homeworks in general have a slight difficulty but the professor does a great job in introducting these topics and creating connections with other mathematical topics such as geometry and algebra. Highly recommended!
Murza is a good professor who tries to make everyone understand lessons being taught. Whilst linear algebra is a hard class, one should practice as much as possible. Most of the exams came from recommended textbook questions and past homework. So I'd recommend focusing more on that. This class is easy if you put effort into it!
Murza is a good and organized teacher. Each lecture was relevant, a beautiful treasure, extremely valuable for doing well in assignments. The low point of the semester for me was being sick and missing one.
Dr. Murza's lectures are amazing and fun to attend. The workload is not too heavy, just attend lectures and keep up with the homeworks. He is also available outside of class and is always ready to help you understand concepts better. The class itself has plenty of resources and with this professor I am highly confident you will do great.
He is a very caring professor who constantly engages the class. He takes feedback and uses it in his lectures. Any questions asked, he will go through completely and make you understand. The lectures are sometimes fast but there are online resources like Gilbert Strang for any topics for review.
Professor is amazing.
I'd say he is one of the better linear algebra professors. He is very understanding and just wants class participation . Overall this class was a lot of work but can be done if you just pay attention to most details in lecture. Good luck!
He really cares about what he teaches and wants his students to do well! He is willing to work with you and if you go into office hours he answers all your questions and will review your exams with you and was very lenient and helpful when needed!
Solid lectures but don't have to attend unless you'd like extra credit at end of semester. Helpful during office hours. Course homework, quizzes, and tests are standard across all professors teaching 2418.
He's a good professor. He routinely asks for student input to make the lectures as interactive as possible. It's not entirely necessary to read the textbook, but I found it helpful to look at it whenever I was confused by a topic roughly once every couple weeks. The homeworks take a lot of time but they are good preparation for the exams.
Amazing professor. Great lectures. Took him for 2312 and 2418 Linear Algebra is a difficult class but if you attend lectures and do your hw, you should be fine Your TA's will make or break this class.
Prof Murza made very difficult topics in linear algebra easy to understand. He follows MIT professor Gilbert Strang's lectures, and they are all worth attending to understand the topics. The class isn't easy but if you genuinely want to learn linear algebra, then take it at UTD with Murza. If math isn't your strongest suite, take it at CC.
He does a great job caring about students and really wants you to understand the material. He will make sure to pause if students look confused and try to get them to ask questions. One of the best professors I've had at UTD!
Murza the GOAT. Does a great job asking for feedback on learning techniques. Made it seem like everything was super easy! He is very approachable and keeps the class funny with few jokes. Super chill and personable. Gives points back generously on tests during his office hours and is open to curving grades based on attendance, etc.
Murza=AMAZING! Attentive to students & how lectures are. Goes over concepts agn-n-agn until ppl intuitively get it. Follows Dr. Strang's lectures. V gud at reading the room and extracting Qs out of us. In ofc hrs, he rlly tries to know u, esp if u go early. Writes on the board-helpful for notes. Go to ofc hrs & practice to ensure u retain knwldg!!!
incredible prof for linear algebra, made it so so easy to understand. does take attendance but it's not graded– don't skip because it's easy to fall behind. very forgiving & gave back lots of points on an exam that i felt was graded poorly. if you can, TAKE HIM!!
Professor Murza is the GOAT. I didn't go to lectures past the first week since there is an attendance form but it's not mandatory. I know the Prof more from his office hours, which you should always visit after you get the exam back. He may give points back for unfair grading or help explain your mistakes. He was also a chill proctor for my exams.
One of the best profs at UTD! Prof. Murza explains concepts with clarity and passion. Always accessible outside class to clarify doubts, give back exam points, and discuss topics beyond the syllabus. Very patient, kind, and supportive—he genuinely cares. Makes a tough class enjoyable. He replies back to emails promptly. Highly recommend!
Semester isn't even over and hands down the best prof ever. He will explain everything very carefully and repeatedly ASK THE STUDENTS if they understand. Do not be afraid to ask questions during class. He makes hard concepts super easy to understands and even does HW questions during lecture. He is always open to all sorts of questions. TAKE HIM!!!
Murza is by far the best Linear Algebra professor to have! He takes time to consolidate the Strang lectures and makes it intuitive and easy to understand for a student. However, the same can't be said about exams. Exams are the worst, despite it being like the homework, and this shows through the low test averages. Quizzes and HW are manageable.
Professor Murza is a lecturer of an outstanding disposition. His lectures make you want to attend. He cares very much about class participation, showing his dedication to his craft. He is very receptive to feedback. I have enjoyed his teaching very much and highly recommend him to all future students.
This professor is the best one for Linear Algebra, if he's open, then you're lucky, take him right now. He is easily accessible outside of class time and can help you with your exam. Linear algebra is a very hard course, but he makes this course a lot easier
Professor Murza is an excellent Linear Algebra Professor. He explains concepts with examples for proper understanding. He is also very accessible outside class during office hours to clarify any questions you may have. Make it a priority to attend every class as that provides the fundamental knowledge necessary in order to do the weekly homework.
MATH2418 is a difficult course, but Dr. Murza makes the course content very easy to understand since it is clear that he has a deep understanding of the course material. Going to lectures was truly critical to my success in the class, and I don't recommend skipping a single one if possible. I 110% recommend taking Linear Algebra with Dr. Murza
As a first-year college student Dr. Murza is an exceptional example of what a good professor should be. He made the class very enjoyable and interactive, and his teaching style made the content very simple and easy to digest, with clear connections between topics. If you want to learn math then Dr. Murza is your go-to professor.
Adrian Murza is the best professor you could take for linear algebra. His lectures are engaging, helpful and sometimes hilarious. He is a professor who actually cares for his students and this is seen in how much he listens to every student's opinion. He is also approachable during office hours and will always appreciate you for your grades.
Genuinely one of the best professors out there. He's insanely caring and loves what he teaches. His handwriting is a bit hard to read so best sit close and listen to what he's saying. If you do badly on a test he'll give points back very easily. During lectures, he does go a bit too much into theory where practice could be done. He tries his best.
Dr. Murza is the best professor for Linear Algebra. His lectures are engaging, clear, and very helpful. Do not skip them. He makes the content interesting, explains concepts in a way that builds understanding, and is always available outside class and responds quickly to emails.
i didn't take this guy but everyone else in the discord lmk that i should have taken him. i regret. so unless you want the entire class to be talking abt how they're so thankful they took him, take him. final for math 2418 was horrendous though, they better curve
Good and caring professor, very open to questions during or after class. He truly knows the subject well and tries to share the knowledge the best he can. Murza tries to make the class engaging with small jokes and encourages participation. Even takes the time to remember names if you seek his guidance so yay :D. He also has aura like that
If you have the chance, you should definitely take Professor Murza's class. His lectures are always really engaging, and he definitely knows a lot about math. His occasional jokes during lectures make the class even more engaging. He is also always accessible outside of class and is honestly a really chill guy to just talk to!
The professors lectures were amazing, he knew what he was talking about. Also was accesible outside class, and made an effort to make sure every student got help. Overall, great teacher and 100% would take again.
Professor Murza is good at explaining concepts in a way that is easy to follow and he encourages all questions. After test scores have been received, office hours do tend to get very busy, but besides that, it is easy to meet with him outside of class to discuss math. He seems to genuinely care about how his students are doing in his class.
About the class: The class itself is very hard. The quizzes and exams are graded by random TAs, and some may be way harsher than others in grading, meaning your grade is essentially somewhat luck-based. About the professor: Murza is a great professor. He clearly cares about what he does. He may give points back on harshly-graded exams if you ask.
Prof. Murza is a great lecturer, and puts in alot of effort to get students involved. The work isn't too bad, but I wouldn't necessarily put too much trust in the past exams; they can be helpful but you may see stuff you haven't before when you are actually taking it. That will be for any linear professor though. You should absolutely take him!
Very considerate and caring. Great lectures, explains everything in depth and always makes sure everyone understands.
Passionate about Linear Algebra and is very knowledgeable. He loves when students asks questions and participates. DO NOT SKIP CLASS. You will be very lost. After each exam, you can ask for more points if you did bad. It's guaranteed you get at least 5. Someone I knew got 20+ points back. Linear Algebra is more about concepts than actual math.
Simply the lin alg goat. He explained concepts very clearly in his lectures, extracted questions from us, and made sure we understood everything before moving on. In office hours, he was always happy to clarify doubts, generously gave back exam points, and even wrote notes and drew diagrams on my iPad, which helped a lot.
Murza is the best and most caring math professor I've had. His lectures are extremely clear and he makes sure his students understand the material fully. He never ignores any question, even if it was something basic that we went over a week ago. I will 100% take a class from him again in the spring for dif eq.
