He is young and inviting. I had no interest in this subject other than I have to take it for a requirement, but now, I really enjoy the subject and are waaaaay more interested in politics. I wish all of my teachers could be like him. Midterm was brutal though.

Inspirational

Simply put, you are not going to get a better PoliSci instructor than this one. Not that he is spectacular, but the pool we get to choose from for PoliSci instructors is horrendous. He is your best bet hands down.

Political Science with Professor Wise is indescribable. Yes we throw out words such as inspiring, moving and refreshing but it is so much more. There are constant discussions to connect textbook reading to recent political events,the student opinion is most valued in this class and best of all the professor is unbiased. Great teacher, an absolute genius, loves playing Devils Advocate. It IS important to note that he's a pretty tough teacher, grades hard but fair. MUST do reading, and understand reading to do well in class.

One of the best professor at West Valley, He knows what he's talking about and gets the whole class involved in the discussion. The class is fairly laid back but beware TSL! If he taught another subject here i'd probably take it with Mr.Wise.

I have really enjoyed this class. Politics do not usually interest me, but Mr Wise has changed that. It doesn't hurt that he is cute and funny.

A true diamond in the rough. Incredibly inspiring teacher that shows a fervent passion for politics, and more importantly his students. He is truly in touch with our generation, and doesn't censor himself or require the same from you. Simply put, he will easily become your top 3 favorite teacher in your life.

I stand behind how amazing Mr. Wise's teaching because you can tell he really loves what he does. He was passionate about poiltical science and made it interesting. His teaching style was great and the way he got us interacting was perfect for such a tense subject (for a lot of folks). His tests were directly from the book, so reading was a must.

The best teacher I have ever had!!!! At first I was a little scared of all the group work, but it taught me how to work with others. He's not super strict, but tells you what you need to know (he'll even attend study sessions!!!) You can tell he loves what he does and is very inspirational. Learned a lot, GREAT TEACHER!!!!

THIS CLASS IS A CRITICAL THINKING / OPINIONATED TYPE. This class isn't like American History Class when you have to remember facts and dates. Make sure you read the book and have a good group for group project. You have to teach the class and have a discussion on your topic.

Wise is what a professor should be. He's unbiased and is always willing to stay after if you need some extra help. Dude, he even came to a study session during spring break-we were there for hours, btw. Who does that? Tell me, what prof would do that?

Wise is a great teacher who consistently lets students speak their mind without imposing his views. Yes, he requires a lot of reading, but you also have to participate. Just because you show up doesn't mean he'll let you slide. Wake up and realize this is college. Participate and you'll get a good grade. He wrote me a great letter of rec. too!

Best damn teacher I've ever had. These morons who say that he preaches and doesnt teach are oblivious. Above all, he wants you to think for yourself. He'll give you an A even if he disagrees with your opinions as long as you articulate and back them up. Left class everyday thinking about his lectures. Never had a teacher with that ability before.

Prof. Wise is a fantastic teacher, one that challenges your political beliefs, making you re-analyze your opinions and re-evaluate your understanding of American government. Inspirational. If you dislike politics but need poli sci I highly recommend this class. Wise develops a great relationship with his students, but you must make an effort. Expect to THINK. Buy the book and use it. You'll want to come to class everyday. Worth your time absolutely.

Easily the best teacher I've ever had! Had no interest in the subject before going in, but now love it! He made classes interesting with stories, metaphors, inspiration, and humor. Taught the subject well and very clear. Well worth an hour and a half of my days in the summer!

I literally just took the midterm. It was hard but he totally covered everything on it during class and even during an outside review session. He's totally helpful and approachable. I think I'm going to get an A and I was scared coming into this semester.

HAHAHAHAHAHA The words I see more than a dozen times when reading the comments below are "inspire" (or "inspirational"). This is the quality every teacher should strive for, this man has reached this goal whether he acknowledges it or not.

He requires participation and there are two essay tests. I never thought I would like talking about politics, but Wise's class changed that. The guy is awesome! He makes it all relevant and that gets you to climb out of your shell. Trust me, take him.

I had no intention of liking this class but he changed my view of political science. I loved his lessons and I learned so much. Most of the class consisted of lecture. Just take notes and participate and you should be fine. Midterm and final were essays. I HIGHLY recommend this class to everyone!!

Took for winter session. Attend every class and listen to what he and the entire class has to say. Participate a lot by asking questions, and sharing what YOU believe. He is really cool and shares really great stories! You will not be disappointed ;)

His class is great. Be there, and share your opinion, you won't be judged, but you will get 1/3 of your grade by participating. Take good notes, you'll need all the court cases for your essays. If you have any question he helps you big time. I highly recommend him :)

This is the only class I actually enjoy going to. Everyone pays attention and participates cause Wise sets up the class to include everyone and get everyone thinking. He is really funny and chill but at the same time he makes sure to get his point across be certain that we understand what he is explaining. Best prof ever.

I just took the midterm so I don't know my grade yet but I wanted to post my feedback about this guy. I know I did well because I've learned so much. It's crazy because I feel like I knew everything on the test and could have gone on for days. You'll learn so take the class.

A very good teacher. He explains things in a way that is very engaging and accessible. He also remains a very nonpartisan figure throughout class discussions, which I found to be a very conscientious and respectful way to go about teaching controversial issues. The class is a bit too easy, however, and should be made harder. Very good looking too!

I am generally into talking politics, but I definitely didn't want to in a classroom. Not only was Mr. Wise loud, passionate and kept me awake with his humor and intensity, but he truly inspired me to want to learn and discuss each topic with full understanding. It didn't hurt that he was easy to look at either.

Simply amazing, I never thought I could enjoy Political Science but I'm sad the class has ended. Incredibly entertaining fun, he's a great teacher! If you need to take political science take professor Wise! He is by far the BEST teacher I have EVER had at West Valley. He connects with his students, he involves you in class discussions and there is rarely ever any homework. His tests are super easy and basically if you show up and participate you'll get an A. I took his winter session class last year. It was a lot of lecture. The midterm was pretty hard with a ton of writing. The final was just an at home essay. I found it very boring, but I know a lot of people in the class really enjoyed it. I took it for pass/no pass since it was so fast paced. He was an ok teacher.

He's a good teacher but take the class during the regular semester. It is REALLY HARD in the winter. I had to repeat the class because it was too much work, papers, exams. It's hard in winter easier in regular session!!

I must say I am SHOCKED I was able to ace business law but not this class. This is a great class for people who are interested in making a change in government. I myself prefer lectures and just getting straight to the point. Professor Wise is a great professor but definitely a ridiculously hard class to ace.

I CANNOT say enough about this class! This was my favorite class that I have ever taken by far. Attendance isn't required, but you really need to go to get the notes. No homework except the readings (you can slip by w/o them) I got an A, but I had to study. Loved Mr. Wise! Exams are multiple choice/essay questions which are given weeks before.

Professor Wise is one of the funniest teachers at West Valley! Half of his grading is based on participation, so you can get an A just for speaking up in class! I didn't even read the book and i passed his class. If you're a good note taker you can easily get an A. He respects your opinion. He keeps class interesting! Highly Recommend to Take him!

Lectures are basically class discussions. He makes it fun and interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but part of your grade has to do with showing up and talking. Must take good notes and participate, I didn't use the book at all. Two tests (mult. choice and essay on each)/no hw. VERY HARD, MUST STUDY.

Took his class at De Anza. One of the best classes I have ever taken. I have a lot of respect for this teacher. Gave me all the help and tools I needed. Got an A+.

Mr. Wise has so much passion for Politics and teaching it shows every time he lectures. I hated Politics, but he Miyagi you and by the end of the semester you are very interested in matters of State and Federal Government and its powers. Doesn't have power points for lecture and expect a lot of time where you'd have to get in groups. Participation in this class was big and his tests are 100 questions with a variety of multiple choice and TF. Be prepared to study and I suggest paying close attention to him while he talks and DO THE READINGS, if not you'll be lost.

One of THE BEST teacher EVER. He try his best not to miss a class and only miss it when the ABSOLUTE WORST thing happen (broke his leg and still come before surgery). I would take this class again. He's inspirational, hilarious and makes you WANT TO come to class. TAKE HIM!!! BTW, he's hot too.

Tries to be cool but sometimes its a distraction, easy class to pass but does require some studying. Overall it was not too bad, what I did not like is that he did not return some assignments, so you would not know what you got on it and how it would affect your grade.

If you are a first year student, check into Mr. Wise's classes at West Valley or his home campus at Mission. He is a pretty funny young man (sub 30 I bet) that primarily grades on participation and midterms/finals. I did not read either textbook because over 85% of the midterm was lecture-so don't ditch or risk a 20 minute midterm becoming a 40.

He was definitely 1 of my favorite professors at West Valley, after being there for 2 1/2 years. As long as you show up to every class and pay attention to his lectures, you'll be good. I read some in the textbooks, but most of my studying came from looking at my notes. His way of lecturing keeps everyone engaged, I loved it! & he's cute of course

Easily my favorite class of all time. It was a summer class that met three nights a week for three hours a night. I know the majority, if not the whole class loved his very personal approach to politics. He made it real and less like a boring textbook approach. Take him and learn. Lecture heavy so show up!

Wise is so funny and knowledgeable! He brings a boring topic into something really interesting while being really engaging. Asked him a question on Canvas and he replied on the same day! Two parts for midterms: multiple choice and essay. Essay questions, you can find from lecture and for multiple choice, it is based on the textbook and lecture.

Prof. Wise knows what he's talking about. He even adds humor into his lecture and trust me you're going to laugh. Test are fair but graded a little hard on essay. You learn a lot. Take his class.

Prof Wise is a really great teacher. His examples in class are really funny, making it an enjoyable class. He has a way of really making you question your own political perspectives while learning. There's only 3 multiple choice exams and 2 essays. After a couple samples of his class, you'll get hooked. Maybe because he's also exceedingly handsome.

I thoroughly enjoyed Prof Wise's American gov class. He's funny and articulate. 2 essays that are about 7 pages and 3 exams. So basically only a few assignments. Make sure you dont miss any class lectures because he puts lecture material on the exams.

If you take Adrian Wise be sure to do the readings, go to class and take good notes b/c it is all very important for the exams(3). If he notices you aren't doing the readings he will pop-quiz the class. I wasn't going to say anything about his looks but he is very handsome and passionate about political science. I will definitely miss his lectures.

Very involved lectures.

Take notes from his lectures, do the reading, and review both for the MC tests. His lectures are really interesting and the class isn't too much work. But pay attention, and again TAKE NOTES. The more thorough the better, and super useful for studying. He's a passionate guy, explains stuff well, and is super straightforward, just like his class.

Wise is the best. He makes class interesting with relatable lectures. You will get into politics if you come and participate but if you skip class you will pay for it in the end. My buddy and I took the class together but he missed it often. Wise was always nice to both of us but I got an A and my friend failed. Simply, show up and take notes.

His lectures are worth the cost of tuition. He's neutral, applies history to modern times, and thrives off of student input. The class is fairly discussion heavy, and Wise is great at getting people to expand on ideas. Very fair grader, lots of material is on the tests though so be sure to study. The best class to be yourself in.

I have never taken so little notes in a class before and still retained most of the information from lecture. Adrian has amazing almost story-like lectures that are engaging and participatory. I love this class and he made me love political science.

Needed an elective. Took him because of his ratings here. Glad that I did. I'm just gonna start by saying that imma engineering major, so I wasn't looking forward to this class. Professor Wise was my favorite professor in all of West Valley. If you need to take a Politics class, take it with Wise. My grade was two in class essays which was graded based on content and never seemed unfair.

Professor Wise is very engaging with his lectures. He tries to make the lectures interesting, and relatable. He has a sense of humor, which helps with understanding the material. The class required a lot of reading to do for homework, if you stay caught up with the reading schedule, then you'll do well. He makes himself easy to reach after class.

He makes your comments feel welcomed and makes it a point to let you know that. I will say, if he is in a bad mood, he will do a pop quiz, so prepare for that. Other than that, this dude deserves Teacher of the year

Mr. Wise is perhaps the best lecturer at West Valley College; his lectures are captivating and fun. In terms of workload and the exams, the only problem is that there is no study guide; you just have to read your lecture notes and read and reread the textbook and cross your fingers that you are able to answer the questions.

Wise is really fun, engaging, and flexible. Every test and discussion is open note, so it's really no stress if you have a full pdf of the textbook and your lecture notes beside you. Every test is multiple choice and every discussion is a bare minimum. Until he changes his mind, DO NOT GET OR FIND THE 2020 VERSION OF ABERNATHY.

I took Prof. Wise's online Intro Poli Sci class. Prof. Wise was very knowledgeable about the subject and his lectures were very informative and non biased. Wise truly wants you to learn about the subject and what makes the American gov. If you want a class that isn't hard to pass, this is the one for you. Worth it!

Taken as a summer class.Excellent lectures that actually correctly teach the subject. Professor Wise knew a lot about what he was talking about and speeding up lectures made the workload more manageable. Must watch the lectures (about 3 every week, each about 1 hour long). Exams and quizzes were harder than expected, but I barely passed with an A.

Took Wise last semester for American Gov and I'm pretty happy about it. It was refreshing to have an in-person class again. Wise made the class fun with his natural sense of humor and his engaging lectures. He makes you want to care a bit about politics. The class seemed easy to get into. Pay attention and you will do fine.

An amazing teacher who turns the classroom into a discussion space and fosters a learning environment. Take him for POLI001 and beyond - you will not regret it one bit.

Adrian Wise, hands down THE BEST at West Valley College or probably in the whole state of California. He's so passionate about his job, he loves our history and teaches the FACTs rather than his own agenda or his political views. He has sense of humor and keep you engage in the subject. He's very professional. As an extra bonus he is handsome too.

Took American Gov. over the summer & if you decide to take it in the shortest amount of time possible, get ready to watch lectures & read all the time everyday. That said, I truly did enjoy his class! I learned lots & actually found the lectures interesting (he gets a bit of his test questions from recorded lectures so take good notes)

Mr. Wise is a great guy and one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. His lectures are not boring and listen to them since they are important for quizzes and tests. Tests are long but not too bad. Also, read the chapters from the textbooks, they help you understand a lot that goes on in class.

History/Government is a difficult subject for me, but Wise made this class very enjoyable. His lectures are very interesting and he is very willing to work with you in order to succeed in his class. He is very receptive to any comments or insights you have. 2 exams the entire class which can be difficult for some... especially with that much info.

very interesting lectures at times you could tell which political side he was on. Sometimes he would downplay something republicans would do and its all very subtle but was there. I had some opposing views, but he was still a good prof. While I don't agree with some things he said, it was interesting to hear his perspective on things. participate !

Grades on canvas discussion, quizes, and midterms (all MCQ and open note). Replies quickly to emails. Just read the textbook and take notes on the lectures.

He's great and doesnt assign any busy work. Only quizzes/tests every couple of weeks and an occasional canvas discussion post. His tests are easy if you do the readings and take notes during the lectures. that being said, there is a lotttt of textbook reading assigned. it's manageable though. he's very funny and keeps lectures interesting.

One of the best teachers I've had at West Valley. He makes the lectures fun and interesting and is always in a good mood. Choose him if possible.

Professor Wise is a role model and a very awesome professor at WVC. Just read his chapters and show up to his lectures. I loved his lectures so much I was a little sad to see the semester end. He deserves TEACHER OF THE YEAR!!! As a bonus, he has a great sense of humor and gives life lessons.

Genuinely one of the best teachers I have ever had. Massive respect for him, learned so much in his class and I actually enjoyed learning everyday. Sad to see the semester end. He also gives great life lessons and questions to think about. 10/10 teacher.

I took his class online over winter and wish I could've taken it in person. Great lectures. I can tell that he has a passion for teaching and wants you to critically think through the material independently. I found government boring in high school but Professor Wise completely changed my perspective. If you have the opportunity, take his class!!

Different, interesting and inspiring lectures by professor Wise. I recommended his class to all my friends looking to take a poli sci class and I recommend him to you. He stays the same from the beginning and gives you space to drop the class if you dont like how he teaches, even though people rarely do.

He is amazing at lectures, and puts it in a way anyone can understand. I'm not a poli sci major but damn he almost made me change my major! I love this guy and I highly recommend his class even if you don't need it. He teaches the most important things about American politics everyone should know.

My friends took him online. They enjoyed his recorded lectures, but he's way better in person. He's funny but most of all, he makes the subject easy to get into. His class was the one class I looked forward to. Life at a community college can be kinda boring, but I swear I found myself talking about the course with my classmates well after class.

Professor Wise is easily #1 professor at West Valley. Participation is natural and fun, the discussions are useful and on topic, and he is very entertaining. He always keeps it real and isn't afraid to talk about topics that matter.

Never interested in politics or history, but Wise made it so interesting and it honestly became my favorite class. He is really passionate about his work and is always engaging with students. He makes the material relatable and easy to understand. attendance not mandatory but wouldn't recommend missing class as he covers a lot of material. 10/10

Wise is a very passionate professor and really knows his stuff. He's really funny, and gives fun lectures. He has 2 books, but you can get them from the library. Attendance not really mandatory, but he doesn't post lectures online so make sure you go. Few discussion posts but nothing crazy. Great class, great professor, would 100% take again.

Mr. Wise is a great professor whose focused lectures make American Government surprisingly interesting and even fun to learn. He's very involved in class and values student engagement. Homework includes easy discussions and textbook readings tied to quizzes. The tests and quizzes have tough questions, so study hard—they're most of your grade!

Chillest professor I've ever had. Professor Wise totally rocks! His winter class was so easy and straightforward. Easiest and most informative class ever. Very respected professor. There was like, barely 10 assignments and all were super easy. I recommend this professor to EVERYONE!

I was dreading this class at first not knowing how much I would find it interesting or doable, but here I am one year later still reflecting on this class and sharing fond memories about in depth detail about government. I will remember this class for a lifetime.

Wise is a really down to earth instructor. He made me want to come to class even though it's not mandatory. If you share your opinion and are cool with hearing multiple perspectives, than take him. I didn't think I would like politics but he made it fun. He's funny.

Professor Wise is great! He doesn't use slides, just lectures, but he's engaging and easy to follow. Ask questions; he's very approachable. Most homework is reading, and exams/quizzes are based on that, so stay on top of the material. I enjoyed the class; he really changed my perspective on US politics. Overall, do your best and you will succeed

Very few assignments in this class so your grade will pretty much rely on quiz and exam scores. The questions are based almost entirely off of his lecture videos so make sure to take notes on everything he says. Overall pretty easy class and interesting content.

it's a very easy class, I took it in winter async, and the exams are just multiple choice, same with quizzes, total of ten assignments with 2 being the exams.

Awesome professor. Other than that bada** last name, He's just awesome. Lecture-focused class with discussions and multiple-choice question quizzes/exams. I guess attendance is mandatory if you're not doing good in his class. Super funny dude and knows what he's talking about.

I love him and his lectures; he made class so entertaining and created an amazing learning environment. You are expected to read and take notes from the textbook, which I didn't do so if you want an A in the class, take notes and participate in class! 1500 word term paper due end of semester.
