She is one of the most understanding and forgiving professors I have ever taken a course with. We ended up getting quite a few extra credit opportunities. The tests were tough but she gives you enough other assignments to revive your grade. Overall one of the kindest professors I have taken a course with and probably the best honors section too.
Dornelles is extremely nice and definitely an easy grader, I think I wound up get over 100% in her class. If you don't really care to learn statistics, this is a good class. I found that I could not really pay attention to her lectures because they were dry and confusing. Instead, I would just teach myself the material the night before the test.
She is full of energy and makes class fun. I've taken stats before and found her class a breeze. She made it easy for us and people still struggled. Take stats before you start graduate level stats, LEARN TO USE THE TI84 and you'll be laughing through this class. Otherwise it's hard to learn the material if you have no previous background in stats.
This is a really tough class all around. The material is really complex and there is a lot of work that goes into this class. You'll have to go to every class, put hours of work into the homework and projects, and probably go to the tutors if you want to do well. She goes through the material pretty quickly, but she's very helpful.
Not an easy class, but if you take the time to really study and understand the material, it'll change your perspective on life, frankly. Attendance is mandatory, homework cannot be skipped and exams aren't easy. But it's possible to get an A! She is very nice if you go to her office hours too! Also, SAS is an extremely useful skill for your resume.
The biggest issue that I have with this teacher is that she is very bad at explaining things to make sense to the students. She is too smart to be a teacher and she is awful at explaining tough concepts to her students. Really don't recommend taking this teacher because you will question why you did it the entire semester.
I really liked this class. It is tough, but if you put in the work and ask for help when you need it then it is possible to get an A or a B. You have to do the homeworks to do well, the tests are tough but not too bad and there are two group projects that are tricky. 410 is tough no matter what but she is one of the better professors imo
Dornelles was a very fun professor. She really encourages you to learn SAS and try to understand it better through helpful homework. I encourage to take her if you have the chance. Plus you get batman memes in the slides.
Get creative with your final presentation (role play). You won't regret it grade wise. Show up to class every time because she won't let you submit homework if you missed getting the assignment in the beginning of class in the first place. I could have gotten an A+ if I spent more time on on-line hw. Great professor. Great jokes. Very helpful! :)
Easy class, bad teacher. Some students like Professor Dornelles, but with all her liberal comments and terrible English, I found it difficult to find her likable. Countless typos and calculation errors in her lectures, quizzes and exams (awful English). Learned most material from online. Do not take her if you have the choice.
she is terrible and speaks bad English. grades critically on everything and does not explain anything really well. tests are not huge but weighted really heavy without the contingency rule of dropping lowest one
Incredibly difficult class. Only three exams which increase in points they're worth as the semester continues. My biggest issue with Prof. Dornelles is that she almost exclusively teaches how to do problems through Excel, however does not test over Excel or allow its use on homework so you're pretty much left on your own to learn the material.
I never post on RMP, but Dornelles is so bad that I felt the need to come here and warn people. Class is extremely difficult and very little of the lecture material has anything to do with the homework. Very much like a typical academic where she doesn't know how to explain things well. In the end, your grade will suffer as a result.
Find another professor. Half the class is failing. Explanations in lectures are often confusing and hard to understand. Questions on quizzes and exams are very difficult and do not relate to learned material.
Professor Dornelles was a great instructor for the class who really cares for her students. This course is challenging but if you put in the work, visit her for help, and DON'T overthink the material the class is very doable. Be prepared to learn a lot of SAS and put effort towards the homework. She also is funny in lectures which is a plus!
This is not an easy course, no matter who you take it with. Professor Dornelles provides students with all the tools they need to succeed. Take the homeworks and attendance serious; you will succeed in the class. LEARN SAS!
Amazing professor for an extremely difficult class. I was nervous about failing this class, but if you show up to class the extra credit offered those who attend brought my grade up to a B. She is very nice and entertaining, will throw things at you if you don't pay attention. Make sure to learn basic of SAS early and it will be needed to pass.
Maybe 3 people enjoyed this. She teaches SAS poorly, and aside from her Batman jokes, doesn't do a good job of explaining errors in models. She gave out a lot of extra credit, but says its way too much and will be giving much less later. Pre final grade distribution was 4 As, 16 Bs, 32 Cs, and 40+ Ds. Class sucks, but she doesn't make it better
I made an account just to highlight how bad this professor is. She's smart, but awful at explaining concepts, which is the one thing a professor needs to be good at. I learned more from one 20 minute lecture from Cox than I did in the entire semester with Dornelles. She gets upset when class doesn't answer and makes awful Batman jokes. Avoid her.
I took her class last semester. The class was hard in general but she is very funny and helpful. Dont skip her class if you want to pass or get a good grade
Lectures are relatively unhelpful. Exams include questions that are not discussed in class. Many assignments are unintentionally difficult due to poor wording and occasional errors. I always felt I missed a few more test points than I should have due to poor question wording. Grade distribution is bad: 70% C-F's, only 1-4 A's in recent years.
Expects a lot from you but gives you everything you need to succeed. Go to the tutoring center, TALK TO HER, & pay attention. The material itself isn't easy but is interesting & useful. If you suspect a wrong answer, TELL HER & she will look & regrade it. It's a 400 level class, so it's going to be hard, but she really is caring & gets a bad rap.
Dornelles is really great and is very approachable. The course material is very difficult and you'll need to learn how to write SAS codes and interpret results. She is very accommodating and flexible. Her ECN 410 classes did terrible on 2 exams, so she allowed students to retake those exams. Make sure to start your hw right away as it is very tough
This class is not easy by all means but she does well with thoroughly explaining things in her lectures. Shes also always available if you have any questions.
I dont know whos giving her five stars but shes definitely average at best. Makes the same jokes about a hundred times but is unfriendly when you ask her questions she doesnt want to answer. HW questions are straightforward but only difficult because she does such a poor job of explaining SAS codes and errors. If you take her, buy a SAS book.
She doesn't teach the class. Its an online class and lectures are given by some guy. I have yet to even see who this person is or even what she sounds like. Doesn't answer emails and if you post a question on the discussion board she calls you out for asking "academic questions" on the discussion board.
I dont even know what she looks like. Class is taught by an online guy and its extremely boring. Hard quizzes and tests.
IF YOU TAKE HER ICOURSE FOR ECN 221, GET READY TO DO EVERYTHING ON YOUR OWN! She doesn't care and will not respond to you, all the video lectures are by some other guy.
Worst teacher ever. The test is 200 points 20 questions. each test is 20% of your grade. Lectures are videos and it's a different person every time. The teacher does absolutely nothing
Extremely hard class and barley responds to emails. Extremely test heavy and the lowest test score is dropped.
Just an awful professor. Is not caring and will not accommodate any extensions even if showing proof of medical injury. Does not even teach her class and yet is so test heavy. Would never take again. Save yourself because if you take this class you are going to do teach this class to yourself.
The class was taught by using others lecture videos (not her own). She is terrible when it comes to responding to students, and it seems as if she doesn't care about her students. Overall she did nothing but allow the computer to grade students work and use other's lecture videos so she didn't have to teach. Do not waste your time with this class.
Quite literally the worst professor I've ever had throughout college. Test and homework extremely hard. Average for the first test was a 62% and she didn't curve. Lectures are taught through videos that don't make sense. Take someone else!!!
LISTEN! If you want to pass this class GO TO TUTORING! The tutor was way more helpful than the professor. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE you will fail. Do good on all the homework. Tests are difficult and homework has a bunch of mistakes on them. Learn SAS as fast as possible. You just have to push through this class. I wish I would've taken econometrics.
Dont psych yourself out on the material. I went into this class terrified of the class/Professor because of these reviews and would overthink very easy questions on tests. Dornelles is actually a good teacher too. What makes this class hard is how heavily tests/test questions are weighed. ALWAYS communicate with the tutor for homework questions.
This is an almost impossible course. Her exams are the bulk of your grade, and she is an absolute horror at writing questions. She could write a question that says A is wrong, B is right, and then could screw up the rest of it. A) B is wrong, B) A is wright, C) A&B are wrong, D) is right. and she has so many errors. Averages first 2 exams - 55 & 61
I failed the first two exams and got a low c on the last two.. with the extra credit given as well as her dropping 3 homeworks was able to pull out with a B- go to the tutoring sessions every week for the homework and the TA legit walks you through the answers from SAS. Definitely solid teacher for a pretty challenging class.
Do not choose this professor, unless you really want to punish yourself - extremely unhelpful teaching - very hard exams - lots of homework Basically, you gotta do a lot of tutoring and spends weeks teaching yourself, if you want to get anything upwards of a B-
AVOID this class. It is the HARDEST class I've taken as an Econ major at ASU. Do no PROCASTINATE or you will FAIL. I wish I would have taken Econometrics with Murphy instead.
Teacher doesn't teach very well but you can tell she does care about her students. She post helpful notes and excel sheets and answers emails. You'll have to teach some of this class to yourself if you want an A but if you just want a C or B just go to class and Try your best.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Dr. Dornelles is extremely unhelpful and is not accommodating at all. Had to email her multiple times over the course of three days just to receive a response.
The semester just started and all I can say is to avoid her at all costs. Her syllabus is so disheartening & she already gave the impression that she doesn't care about her students. Make ups: Only specific deaths count, covid/sickness only count if you have documentation that you were HOSPITALIZED. She even mentions she will IGNORE your emails.
I WAS terrified of her when I started based on reviews/how strict she warned us she would be. I prioritized EVERY tutoring session (SO helpful), took notes on every one of her lecture videos (you can re-watch to improve your score on most), and she didn't include respondus on final(open notes). She is nicer than she seems, she just makes you work.
Toughest class I've ever taken. 2 of the 3 exams had failing averages, the third had a D average, all with no curve. Tutors are your best bet for passing as well as not falling behind on SAS. I got talked out of taking econometrics by my advisor - don't make the same mistake.
Prof Dornelles might seem intimidating at first, but she's actually a really good professor and good at teaching the material if you show up to class. She wants to help her students and I can tell she genuinely cares! You have to work for your grade, but if you do, you will get the grade you want.
I had a second degree burn on my right hand that took weeks to heal. It was extremely painful and my other professors were very understanding. She gave me an extension of ONE WEEK and said that’s it good luck. How is it possible to lack so much empathy and consideration?? It took one week for me to even pick up a pencil again let alone do her HW.
This has been the hardest class I have ever taken. Horrible communication and you have to teach yourself all of the material. The professor is no help whatsoever and the tests are your entire grade. I put in probably 10 hours a week just for this class and I barely have an 81. AVOID.
For stats the lectures were hard to follow and her style of teaching through slides instead of writing out the math problem made it hard for me to learn it. She also goes through the slides very fast and it is easy to fall behind. With that being said, I failed every written exam, but did really well on excel exams and ended up with an -A.
The iCourse is fairly easy, but there are a lot of videos to watch each week (5+). However, her practice exams are almost identical to the real exam, so as long as you know how to answer those, you'll be fine. She drops the lowest exam and homework as well.
Dr. Dornelles was a great choice for 410. 4 exams, lowest one is dropped. 10 homeworks, 3 lowest are dropped. It was an easy course as long as you showed up and took notes. TAKE THE PRACTICE EXAMS, THEY ARE JUST LIKE THE REAL EXAM! Awesome choice for anyone contemplating between ECN410 and ECN425.
As an online course you do not talk to the teacher much but I was in the hospital having surgery and had to contact due to having an exam that day, she did not respond on time and was very rude about it. Lots and lots of mandatory videos to watch that you cannot leave.Exams are EXACTLY like the practice exam you have to take. Very time consuming.
I took it as an iCourse. Lots of hw but the 2 lowest are dropped, 20% of your grade. 4 exams and 1 lowest is dropped, 60% of grade. 4 practice exams that are mandatory, 1 is dropped and 20% of your grade. Practice exams are the EXACT same as the real exam so take them! You get multiple days to take the exam. The class wasn't as bad as I thought
I have gotten all A's in my 2 years at ASU online, and this is without a doubt the hardest class I have taken online. Take into account this was a condensed Summer A session. The practice tests are NOT EXACTLY like the real tests. About 75% the same. You will teach yourself basically everything. With that said, I would take Dornelles again.
I really liked the professor. Difficult class and subject but is possible to do well if you take the time to study. As many mention here, take the practice exams all 3 times, they're very similar to the exams and are a great study tool.
Took this class as a summer session A; was pretty difficult in the condensed format but 2 lowest homework scores drop, lowest practice exam score drops (they are unproctored and the same as the real exams), and lowest exam score drops. If you're putting in the effort you'll pass, I've never gotten above a C in a math class but I got a B in hers.
The SI leaders do more for this class than the professor. When met with questions she is very rude and usually frames her answers in a way that sounds like the question is the student's problem (even if it's based on an error SHE made). The class really might as well be taught by the tutors because they care more about your understanding than her.
DO NOT TAKE STATS WITH DORNELLES If you have a hard time understanding someone with an accent like myself, you are already at a disadvantage. Homework and quizzes mean nothing. Tests are incredibly difficult with little review and are completely different then homework. She does little to no teaching in class. Be prepared to Fail. Terrible Profess
Don't listen to what others say about her accent, it's perfectly clear to listen to. My problem is the lectures. She reads off slides she took from the book at a super fast pace and it's hard to keep up and understand all the formulas without anyone writing them out. Exams are hard but she curves them (no dropped exams). Extra Credit.
The most impactful teacher I have had at this school. Her class was truly awful, so bad that it made me rethink my entire major, and I ended up switching to STEM. This class sucks
She has a heavy accent and is hard to understand sometimes. She also talks very fast so be prepared to teach yourself. Also she is very condescending when the class doesnt understand a problem.
I've taken a lot of garbage professors from my previous stem major, and she is not as terrible as others make her seem. In any math class, you have to teach yourself regardless. Tests are poorly designed but similar to the practice. Half of it is tricky definitions (not really sure why) and the other half is actual math. Stats sucks in general.
I should've swapped professors when I had the chance. She only teaches us through Excel, but then aren't allowed to use Excel on the exams, her TAs didn't even know this. The homework is basically useless and so much work, it didn't bump my grade up AT ALL. She does drop one exam, practice exam, and homework.
Uses a lot of excel in the beginning but it isn't allowed on tests which makes sense (can't use a laptop on paper exam). Pretty good at explaining definitions to concepts to calculations for stats. Lectures can be fast so need to keep up. Learn to use your calculator, it will help you on your exam (nspire functions). Drops lowest hw/test scores.
Hard to understand at some points. Uses excel for explanations during lecture when you can not use excel on the exams. She offers extra credit in class but the answers must be correct, if you're struggling with the material this isn't very helpful. Overall, seems to be too laid back and doesn't really care about the understanding of her students.
Do not take her for ECN 221, her lectures are too fast to follow and the amount of time spent outside of class to prepare for exams is crazy. Hard to understand accent doesn't help either. Select literally ANYONE else.
Dornelles is your best option tbh. I was in a different class for a couple of days and that professor was much worse. With that being said, her actual lectures aren't great, but it's easy to get an A. USE ALL ATTEMPTS ON PRACTICE EXAMS AND YOU'LL ACE THIS
STAY AWAY, she teaches in Excel however it's not allowed on the exams which makes no sense. On top of that she's probably the least accomodating and caring professor I've ever heard of. It's so bad it's honestly laughable. Just take an icourse or anyone else.
Do not take the in person class with her! She teaches the in person kids how to use excel to solve the problems but will not let them use excel on the in person exams. However, she lets the online kids use excel for every exam. In person kids barely pass the class while the online one's pass with A's
I have a B- so far but basically the class is okay but she has in class quizzes (3 questions) sometimes and those are worth 12% of your grade which Im not a fan of. I do think I should have just taken this class as an icourse. She just reads off a powerpoint in class.
There are no good teachers for the ECN221 class, and i selected her because she looked better than the rest. There isnt much homework, but when there is it has no relevance to the material in class. Her lectures are way too fast and the essential formulas and variables she just skips over. The whole class failed the last test. Dont recommend!
It was honestly sad that I am writing this poorly of a review about a teacher but in my 13 years of schooling, I have never been taught by a more unsupportive professor in my life. It's pretty hard to understand professor Dornelles and the content that she teaches in class just isn't that simple to get the understanding of it on the first try.
Dornelles tries her best to teach the content, however one thing she does is in-class quizzes which are worth 12% of your grade. You can't take them at home, which i think is kind of weird because some people aren't able to focus in a big lecture hall. Overall, I would recommend to take her class as an ICOURSE and NOT IN PERSON.
She is totally awfull...Never go for her guys trust me . I screwed up my whole life because of her...
She doesn't know how to round, I had to correct her syllabus quiz, lectures are terrible. Reads off the slides but doesn't speak in a way anyone can understand so nobody pays attention. Additionally, she quizzes you at end of the class (unexpected) without time/instruction, setting her students up for failure. Half of class dropped halfway through
Sinister. Absolutely unhinged. Incredibly tough professor who has confessed that only around 60% of her class passes each semester. She has no empathy for her students and cannot take accountability for her miscommunication and her mistakes in Canvas. She shames students for not understanding the material during the class quizzes and lectures.
Toughest class taken at ASU. Prof. Dornellas is no help at all. L class and L Professor.
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS. SHE MAKES THE CLASS HARDER ON PURPOSE AND IS EXTREMELY RUDE TO HER STUDENTS. IT'S LIKE SHE WANTS YOU TO SUFFER IN ORDER TO PASS THE CLASS.
She gave extra credit 3-4 times & rounded two of our tests. u have to put in a lot of work to get any hw or quizzes done. The class is hard & wouldnt have passed w/o the extra credit points that she adds to the exam. Shes sassy but she isn't mean. I only would take it her again bc of the way shes given the class extra credit and rounding grades.
Stats is a tough subject to learn. I feel like this class was made harder than it really was. Exams are 60% of your grade but one is dropped which is nice. Homework can be tough at times but is doable. Don't bother to look at the lecture videos, those are a joke. Study the practice tests and you'll be fine in this class. Make sure to stay on track.
Dornelles is blunt and sometimes pretty rude but she is there to help if you put in the effort. I am awful at statistics and between office hours and youtube videos I got through the class with few problems. Homework is straight forward, tests = 60% so know the material for those. In class quizzes and graded practice test are beyond stupid but =20%
I can't un-recommend this professor enough but she is the best option for Business Stats currently. If you go to class consistently and do well on the in-class quizzes you will end up with enough extra credit to pass. She does not teach well and blames her own teaching errors on the students. Homework isn't too hard but the exams are.
I swear half the material on homework and tests isn't covered in the lectures. Exams require you to round and answer every part correctly with no wiggle room Practice exams are on webcam and are worth 20% of you're grade.
The structure of Dr. Dornelles class makes the subject more difficult than it needs to be. The homework assignments are not reminiscent of the practice or final exams.I needed extra support from Dr. Dornelles, and instead of empathy, my request was met with criticism and attitude. Dr. Dornelles wants you to struggle to be successful in her class.
Not sure about other reviews here, but heres what to expect. Lot of lectures (watch ALL of them, they explain the principles), and the homework can be pretty difficult. From what I've seen, the home work is harder than the exams. The HW requires extra steps that exams don't. If you do good on HW, you'll do good on test.
Such a hard class I thought I was gonna fail but the extra credit came through. Lectures did not prepare enough for the tests. Practice tests did help with the exam but had to teach myself how to do them. This class really affected my mental health. Professor put the wrong answers as correct on assignments.Try to avoid this professor if you can.
Honestly the worst professor I have ever had in my college career. I have never felt compelled to rate one of my professors until taking her class. Having to retake this class because her lectures were so useless. Already doing so much better with my new professor. Prides herself on how hard the material is and that her students are unable to pass.
Please do not take Adriana Dornelles! I spent 2 hours just try to get full credit in her syllabus quiz. She only gives 3 attempts for syllabus quiz! And you can't look at your previous quiz unless you finished all attempts. She gives in-person quiz for less than 10 minutes and if you are not ready or not prepared before hand, then you are screwed.
This teacher should serve jail time. She enjoys demoralizing students
Don't take this professor! she has a bunch of in class quizzes that's 25% of your grade and it's very hard to get full credit because everyone has different questions and time she gives is very short, you can't even ask your classmates. You won't get a high grade easily.
She pop quizzes you every single lecture and gives you sub 5 minutes to finish the quiz, which is nowhere near enough time.
When I read rate my professor reviews, I usually take it with a grain of salt because sometimes people can be dramatic but not in this case. I leave this class more confused than when I walk in. If you enjoy panic attacks then this class is for you. If you want to survive you need to fully know the topic before class.
(ECN 221 iCourse) she is responsive and approachable but test questions and practice questions are consistently worded terribly, and often ask a different question than what the 'correct' answer usually represents. Absolutely avoid this class.
Please don't take this professor, I repeat do not take her. We should complain to ASU authorities that we are paying so much fees and these type professors are going to teach. She doesn't know what she is teaching she just mug up, PLEASE ASU I BEG YOU YOU SHOULD REMOVE THIS PROFESSOR, NOT AT ALL WORTH STUDYING WORST TEACHER AT ASU
save urself the tears honestly. halfway through this semester and i just withdrew from the class. not manageable, horrible exam scoring, and not to mention, exams are proctored through honorlock. take this class with ANY other professor if you want to avoid teaching yourself the entirety of the curriculum.
Good luck if you have her. Haven't ever punched my wall as hard or as much since I started this class. Cant understand her in class and lots of her slides have typos.
This chick is the worst teacher ever. There is no reason why she should be a teacher. PLZ don't take this class you will fail.
If you were considering taking this class with her, do not do it. I have never struggled to get a B in school, yet I am on the verge of failing this class. The homework is unreasonably hard and it does not give any assistance or direction on why or how your answer was wrong. The tests are loaded with questions that follow up the previous question.
Weekly timed in-class quizzes worth more than exams and can easily tank your grade. You MUST watch weekly vids + take notes if you want to do well on those. At-home quizzes are hard to get full points on due to mistyped questions and/or wrong answers being listed as the correct choice. Dropped assignments at end of course are the only saving grace.
Easily the hardest class I have had to take and the professor makes it so much worse. Lectures make no sense and they are set up in the worst way (no fast forwarding, leaving the tab pauses the video, can't make the video full screen). I had a 4.0 GPA last year and I will be lucky if I get a C in this class. Take literally anyone else.
There are not words to describe the anguish I felt taking this class. I have a 3.8 but I will be lucky to get a C in this class. Her lectures are borderline unwatchable so I found myself teaching each chapter to myself. This makes the tests a true nightmare and your whole grade depends upon them. Worst class and professor I've ever taken.
With all of your might do not take this professor. The class was extremely difficult and her lecture really didn't dive into depth. I was teaching myself each and every unit and it still wasn't enough. The first two exams aren't too bad but the third and final were some of the hardest I have ever taken.
I cannot stress enough, take literally any other professor if you possibly can. Graded practice exams are absolutely nothing like most of the actual exams and the homework is basically useless compared to the exams. Terrible professor who prides herself on having an insanely hard class and not really sure how she still has a job at ASU.
This is the hardest class i have ever taken. I had a 4.0 and have never gotten a C in a class before till now. The practice exams are not like the actual exams and the wording is terrible. She posts so many lecture videos, but they are not helpful and neither is the homework. Take literally anyone else.
This teacher is easily the worst teacher I have had so far at ASU. Very disorganized, 1/3 lectures aren't even her on her modules, and her test questions have nothing to do with the concepts presented in the lectures given in the first place. Her answer keys for practice exams and exams rarely correspond with the correct answer. DO NOT TAKE THIS!
This class was probably one of the hardest/worse classes I have taken. For context, I have taken every calc and discrete math without any issues. The material is not necessarily difficult, it is just taught really poorly and the resources to help you prepare for the test are not very helpful. The class is doable, just prepare to study alot.
It is nearly impossible to receive a decent grade in this class. The grading scale is extremely unfair with a heavy emphasis on exams and GRADED practice exams. Her lecture videos are extremely lengthy and often skip over key steps or are missing information. Feedback on practice questions is practically nonexistent. HW and exams DO NOT correspond.
For having a 20 page syllabus, this is by far one of the most poorly constructed courses at ASU. Coursework and lectures don't even cover what is asked on exams. Her strict grading makes it nearly impossible to receive a decent grade. Overall, the concepts are not difficult but the teaching is absolutely awful.
Just wrapping up my ECN 221 iCourse with her right now and I will probably finish with around a C+. I would say that this was the hardest class I have taken but not impossible at all, try to capitalize on the first exam because the next 2 are much harder concepts. If math/excel is not your strong suit take during Summer with a different professor.
Professor Dornelles's ECN 221 is one of the most unfair class I have ever had, the assigned work totals to only 15% of the total grade, the "Practice Exams" she gives is MANDATORY if you want to have a passing grade. Not only is the grading harsh, the exams are just as bad, as the coursework do not teach you the information in the exams.
Despite all the reviews, I took a chance with her and agree with every comment. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR. All finals and practice exams are input answers only NO MULTIPLE CHOICE. With that being said if you know every answer to every problem by all means take this class. I've never failed a class before and unfortunately, I have to retake it.
Study for the tests! Take the practice exams all 4 times. Stats is a hard class in general so it won't be easy no matter what teacher. I think she did a great job at teaching this online course.
Very tough professor.
This class had a closed note honorlock required syllabus quiz (worth 2% of total grade), 11 homework assignments (worth 13%), 4 GRADED practice exams (open book worth 25%), 4 exams (worth 60%). The lowest 2 homework assignments, lowest practice exam, and lowest exam scores get dropped. % aside, the professor replied quickly and wanted to help.
To simplify my experience with Professor Dornelles my dad passed away durning finals week the semester I had her. I was given a 2 day grieving period and was still expected to take the final. Do not take.
Listen to the reviews, she seems like a perfectly nice lady outside of class but her teachings inside of the university are not the best. Class overall was extremely confusing for me and she did not help the digestibility at all. Tried to take a chance and take someone with low ratings, will not make the same mistake twice.
Horrible teacher. I literally have never recieved a B or below in a class EVER. I got a D in this class. The homework and practice quizzes do NOT prepare you for exams. I studied for days leading up to the exams and the highest grade I got was a 40%. In person classes are mulitple choice and have cheat sheet, she does not allow either. DON'T take.
Stats is never easy, but this class is particularly brutal. Between the strict grading and exams that don't match the coursework, it's an uphill battle. Unstuckstudy helped with practice questions, but still a tough course.
WORST PROFESSOR!!!!!! syllabus quiz is 5% and 17 questions with two attempts.
This is the true meaning how not all online classes aren't the best
Semester isnt over yet,I think im gonna fail, but let me tell you right now, I have a 98% average score on my homework, around a 60% ish on the exams and I am still failing the class. The practice exams are already difficult, and they are kind of similar to the tests, but they are still very hard to translate over to the exams. Take anyone but her.
This class is awful and extremely difficult. Mentally draining.
I expected this class to be tough since it's not my forte, and it was challenging—but not overwhelming. Exams were worth 45%, but there were other graded categories and up to 15% extra credit, which gave more chances to earn points if you don't test well.
This course was insane. A C+ may not be a failing grade, but I have maintained over a 4.0 every semester at ASU. Avoid at all costs, the tests are brutally difficult, use different symbols and terms than she does, and the homework is barely related, but it doesn't matter - it's only 15% of your grade anyway. Practice&exams are 80%...closed note.
Lectures are horrible, she doesn't seem to be aware that the people taking the class have not already learned the topic prior to attending her course. She does not utilize any technology during her lectures to show how a problem is worked out, rather will just quickly talk through it instead.
Four practice exams are 20% of your grade, two require Honorlock, and each has only four attempts with 15 alternating questions (as redundant as it sounds). Real exams are 60%, closed-note, and also use Honorlock. The ‘study guide' is just a PowerPoint saying to review modules and homework, followed by vague list of topics.
The semester is graded heavily on 4 exams which the lectures do not prepare you for. Tests are different than homework using different symbols/ wording. Extensions are not offered, even for technological issues, she does not care. The only lessons I understood were using another professors videos. I'm a B+ student & have never done worse in a class
