The people who negatively rated Prof.Matas shouldn't be in College to begin with. She is a great teacher, she explain well and if she sometimes treats you like a child if becuase you are behaving like one. Mathematically you are a little child.

Class is liberal arts math so I cant say her class is hard cause seriously its not. Study, do the homework she assigns, and youll be fine. Her teaching methods are good she as person might be a little uptight but still a good teacher. do the stuff and youll be perfect.

I took a fairly hard class with her, which is Precal & Trig combined. She does all she can to help but I wouldnt recommend her for any average student taking a class higher than MAC1105. The reason is she gets mixed up very easily and tends to mislead with her attemps to fix it. Still liked her tho, she grades fairly and doesnt give you a hard time

I think she's a great math teacher. I'm not a big fan of math, but she made it be very understandable and I was a able to get an A. She's very nice, but also very strict so I don't suggest that slackers, undisciplined, or disobedient people take her class.

She teaches very good. She explains in detail, and answers all ques the students ask. HOWEVER, be aware because she will deprive you of your education. She knows very well how to make you feel lesser than sh*t, but don't give up, put her in her place. Show her that you WANT an education and that her belittling you is not going to change that.

Great teacher. She will help you according to your desire. I stink at math but I was constantly in her office and in the Math lab and this is how I passed with an A. She's actually very good at what she does. she knows a lot about the material and if you get on her good side then she will help you anytime you want. Mrs. Matas is a great teacher. I agree with everyone when we say that she is strict! no cell- phones, but if you want to pass your math class and actually understand it, then she is the way to go. Excellent math teacher !!!

Attitude-wise: she's pretty strict but, overall, she is an awesome teacher! I love this woman! She has her things but she can teach. She will let you go to the board, teach you one-on-one during her office hours, and even stay longer if you tell her with anticipation. She is out of this world and she is truly rocks! :)

When I first read the comments for this teacher, I was scared that she might suck and be mean and rude to her students. but all the contrary she was very nice very helpful. it's true that she doesn't like nonsense but she is superb. I got an 89, 96, 95, 96 on her tests. the last three were multiple choice. I would take her again for other courses!

She is good. When you take her tests, try to show as much work as possible cuz she gives you a lot of partial credit even if u dont get the answer right.

She reviews homework on the board the next day, and does review before tests. Tests were very easy if you studied, like any other class. She will help you after class.

I took this class online during the summer and there are 6 quizzes, 4 end of the chapter discussions, a midterm and a final which are required to take on campus. Prof. Matas is really strict about the End of the chapter discussions, which I don't get what the big deal is considering they are only worth 5 pts. Overall I passed the class with a B.

I'm taking MAC1105 with her righ now and I can't say anything about her, but until know all the question I've sent her she answered me back in less than 24 hours and with absolutely respect. She (for me) it is a good teacher, maybe you should not get a class with her if you are not good enough in math and u're lookin for a teacher who passes you.

She's a great professor. Most of all, a great person. Goes step by step in solving problems so we know exactly what to do. She'll definitely help you out. I am taking the online Mac 1105 class, so far her tests are easy and similar to the practice ones. Not a lot of extra credit options, only the discussions which she takes really seriously and get offended if your posts are too short. I would not be on a classroom with her. She also gives you tons of homework on Math-Zone and barely gives you credit

Excellent professor. I still do not get why she has the worst rates ever. She is so nice and so helpful. Her classes are excellent and she always give practice exams and reviews for every test. LOVE HER :)

The class is pretty straight forward. You use an online website to do your weekly HW assignments, quizzes can be taken a couple of times, she keeps your highest grade. The only way you can fail this class is if you are lazy. HW can be done over until you get a 100 on it (within the deadline). She gives midterm and final reviews.

The way she explains math is by far the best way I have seen. Very helpful .but she can easily get mad if she catches u using your phone in class.

For me she is the best, she knows her craft and helps you understand what she puts on the board. The only thing I can say that some people might not like, is that she is late to her class, sometimes on time. She is retiring so that might be the case. Over all I think she is a great math professor.

Professor Matas is a very helpful, clear and reasonable one, she is all the time giving to us feedback about our assignments and tools for success this class. Since the beginig you got a clear sense of what would happen next. Whenever you got stuck in any exercise she was available all the time. I would recommend this professor for sure.

Professor Matas is a nice lady, her lectures were very detailed/long, and she was very patient with us. She had not problem on going back and repeating how to do the same problem if a person didn't understand. She really wanted to see us learn and pass the class. Overall I would take her again.
