I took this class online I definitely recommend getting the book and doing the readings. One quiz/week which you get two tries on each, and an exam every few weeks. Exams use the lockdown browser so you need another computer if you want to try to look stuff up- lots of the questions are online, part multiple choice, part essay-timed- so be prepared
Online half semester class: THERE ARE SO MANY BLACKBOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS (about 3 a day). Ten discussion board posts and a quiz required every week. There's an exam just about every other week. The work isn't *hard* but it is tedious and largely useless. Enjoy!
All the Multi-media review sessions made this course worthwhile, definitely one of the best online courses I have taken. She really obviously cares about her students, always goes the extra mile. This is not a boring class and I got stuff from this class that will help me in my future. Really opened my eyes to things I have to be careful of.
I really enjoyed this class. I usually don't like online classes, but I felt she was always there and a real live person at the other end of the computer. This class was entertaining and you will learn ALOT. She has tons of knowledge and it shows. The discussion board made it easier for me understand th material and confirm I was right! SHe is cool
Do not take her and this online course offered by her. You will be monitored by video surveillance while take the testS. There is no clear guideline for grading the essay parts of the exam. She is impossible to set up a meeting (I tried a few times). You will want to kill yourself after a couple weeks in. I almost did. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!
She is a nice professorand and want students to learn as much as possible. the essay questions If you are not good writer and don't know how to write nonsense thing, and fast typing skill, you will get stucked essays. The final exam count 35% even if you get 100% before if you fail on final you fail every thing.
Not an easy class but she's a very cool professor. SHe met with me anytime I needed and gave lots of exam review help. If you take this class, reading is everything. Was weird being watched by Hal 2000 during exams though, but you get used to it. I liked the scenarios and learning about myself and how I wuold act in ethical situations. Good class,
Best online class I've taken, even as an accelerated course! Fair grader and the essays are interesting. Not crazy about the multiple choice exams, but I never do well on those. Good news is if you tank a quiz, she lets you retake it. She taught in a way I can understand. I liked the reviews and videos, really helped. She also listens and cares.
Great class! Straight forward professor, no suprises. For a dry course the professors materials are entertaining, helped to digest textbook, & the work is doable. One bad thing, tech support for this class was horrific, wish I could have taken this class in person. Exams were glitchy with vproctor, but she grades exams on a curve, so I survived.
By far the worst class I have taken at ASU. She does not bother to teach and its impossible to get help from her. Her tests are compromised of questions that aren't even full sentences. The only thing that is useful are the flash cards which come from the book's website. The vproctor was terrible and would delete paragraphs of my essay on tests.
I didn't find this class that bad at all. She was always willing to help. Quiz every week, but it was rushed since it was an expedited course. Two chances per quiz and 5 discussion boards are so easy. (Couple Sentences) Made us retake a test and choose the higher grade. You're watched with a webcam on tests now. All online and her voice is great.
Great online class! Strongly recommend. Great professor!!!
ASU is lucky to have her as a resource. Dr. Sanford possesses impressive level of knowledge on the material. She took critical thinking to an entirely new place. She was very understanding of technical problems and responded quickly to emails. Resources she has are endless. Her Review sessions are extremely helpful.
TAKE THIS CLASS!! This is a great class. Dr. Sanford provides online review sessions for students to refer back to at a later date, tests are logical and review videos entertaining! I especially liked the discussion posts. She is very knowledgeable and has a great voice! I would definitley take another course with her.
I did not do as well as I would have liked. The course material is educational and I will use it in my future career. I think it would be better as a 15 week class--the accelerated class requires the same amount of reading. Dr. Sanford is excellent. She is willing to answer student posted questions with flushed out answers. Her reviews are helpful!
TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Dr Stanford is GREAT! Videos, powerpoints, tapes, flahcards and more. Dr. Clark is also very helpful. They make a great team! I would recommend this class even if you do not need it to graduate
This class is interesting. Videos on different countries and multi-media sessions with lots of interesting info. Dr. Sanford makes it easy to understand hard concepts with lots of real life examples. She gives a week to complete HW assignments. Textbook is not boring--I definitely recommend this class over others for graduation credit!!
Great class. multimedia reviews on each chapter are very helpful--Dr. Sanford is knowledgeable and great at explianing. Extra credit points available. HW assignments and quizzes. Not bad---one week to complete. Before taking this class I was worried about taking MGT 302, I would definitely recommend her class!! ENJOY!
Was dreading this class, but turns out its really interesting. Dr. Sanford has a co-professor in this class. Chris generally handles the tech issues. If you can make it thru all the stupid MindTap issues, this is actually a good class. Lots of information and study tools. The exams aren't too hard if you use all the multi-media tools. Good stuff.
Great class! Dr. Sanford is one of the best professors I have had. She is so knowledgeable and willing to give extra help. She treats students like people, not numbers. I learned so much from her!!
I want to recommend this great professor to you. Extremely nice and helpful. You gotta listen to her chapter review sessions to do well on the exams. She knows her subject and can answer just about any question you might have.
I wish other classes I need to take were taught by Dr. Sanford. She makes it easy to understand the material. She is clear and uses good examples. Met with me an goes beyond to help ANYONE who asks. Even if you don't have an interest in this subject, take her.
Cool class. Learned alot of interesting stuff in a short amount of time. Workload manageable as long as you keep up with HW & learn the material, exams are not hard, final is comprehensive but if you have been reading and watching mutlimedia videos you should learn enuf to get an A. Glad I listened to her announcements. She is very helpful. A+
If looking for an EASY "A"--- do not take. This class requires understanding the material. To do: weekly HW assignments (one wk to complete); 4 quizzes (two attempts); extra credit; three exam(best 2 out of 3); comprehensive final exam. You can't get by just studying vocab words, b/c of the FINAL EXAM. Need to keep up. GOOD CLASS!!
Class was difficult to say the least. The online class uses surveillance so be aware of what you do during the tests! It could come back to bite you in the butt. I would recommend taking this class in person. Hard to understand her during the instructional videos. I found her to be very informational, but nothing excites me about her.
I like this professor, but whatever you do, DON'T CHEAT! she has a reputation for catching cheaters. I didn't have to, I read the book & watched the lrctures like instructed and did ok. Exams are face to face so I didnt have to deal with vproctor. She has lots of multimedia stuff, listened to it in the car. Really helped. I defintely recommend!
I did all 7 extra credits (though it was time consuming)and got an A+. Printed and made flash cards from MindTap which helped me a lot. Each exam has 2 essay questions, so you need to read the textbook. Final exam was conceptual and covered all chapters. Some materials overlap with MGT300 & SCM300. MindTap costs $180, doesn't come w/ actual book.
This class was a hot mess to say the least. There were constant MindTap problems ($145) and they took forever to get back to you on issues. Save your time and money and choose a better teacher.
Do the work and study the material and you will do fine.
Pretty easy class, don't really need the text because the online powerpoint reviews posted explain everything you need to know for the exam. The exams are straightforward often worded alot like the text and then have an essay portion. Not a bad prof but I found her assistant to be more helpful
very easy class. took the class online, didn't use a book as it was all online powerpoints. learn the terminology and thats all the tests were.
The material was not all that easy, but there was plenty of study help to get me thru it. Actually, this class had the most study stuff that I have seen since starting college. Pretty cool class, I just hope I use it in the real world... I studied hard to get that A! Communication with her staff was rough, but she always stepped in to help out.
I really liked this class. no need to get the book, cause Dr. Sanford has over a hunderd slides for each chapter. Her powerpoints have audio and go over most of the book. Exams are hard if you dont study the slides, but you can drop your lowest score. I highly recommend taking her class. There are tons of study tools.
This was the most entertaining class I took at ASU. Dr. Sanford asks for feedback and listens. The exams are essay and multiple choice. The essay are all are covered in the weekly lectures. Final exam is comprehensive, my advice---keep up with the material to pass the final--it is not an easy class, but if you study you do well.
This was a fantastic learning experience!I was pleasantly surprised at how much I was able to learn from this class. I think I took my education to a whole new level. Dr. Sanford is a great teacher- everything is well explained in her multimedia reviews and lectures. I took MGT 302 with her too. I only wish she taught more subjects
Ms. Sanford failed to post any test scores before the withdrawal deadline so I had absolutely no measure of success leading up to that point. I emailed her asking if she could tell me my score because it was very important that I find out what to expect in her class. She responded with "you get to drop one test"... No help at all. Had to withdraw:(
Great class. I also took MGT 302 from her. Definitely recommend taking BOTH from her. Materials are great and she tutors during office hours.
Dr. Sanford is one of the best instructors. Class is extremely interesting, it relates so much to the business world, especially business law. Was hesitant about taking this course but I'm glad I did with Dr. Sanford.
Class lectures are very interesting - which made it easy to attend class. There is not a lot assignments for points, so you have to make everything count. She is a very well respected teacher though and I would take her again.
Really great class. Learned a lot. She actually taught me the information. She is engaging which is rare in an online class.. Dr Sanford is nice and helpful. She gives out her cell phone number so we can call her if we help or the computer freezes
If you have to take this class through ASU, the online version is a great option. Open book, open note tests and not a bad workload. Some material is pretty dry but the ethical awareness stuff is pretty interesting and you can tell she's passionate about it. An A is very possible.
I had Dr. Sanford for the hybrid class in Spring 2014. Did quizzes online and exams in person. Exams were very hard. She rushed me, while she was explaining the material, during the office visit. If you like legal (boring!) stuff and learning precise definitions, you'll enjoy the class. Had it as session B, was such a big struggle.
Attend all the lectures and you'll do great, she speaks about fairly interesting topics. Exams are generally curved and she gives extra credit on exams to the students who go to each lecture. Weekly quizzes, 4 exams (one drop) and a project assignment where you watchlisten to videos and write paragraphs on each. Book is ultimately unnecessary.
Take this course online if you can! Quizzes are very easy, all the answers can be googled. Tests are lockdown browser, but open booknote, which makes it less of a burden to study for. Drops 1 of 3 regular exams, not including final, which are not overly difficult by any means. Relatively easy course, online at least. Get the book for exams!
An excellent lecturer, it's inspiring to hear her personal story in regards to ethical business issues that are current and relevant. You won't feel like you are learning about a case from 15 years ago, but will get information that can be used right away.
Dr. Sanford's course was extremely interesting, useful, and it gave you an in-depth look at important topics like cyber security, counterfeiting, corruption, and money laundering, which we can encounter in our daily lives. Dr. Sanford truly cares about her students & helping them to succeed in and out of the classroom. I would highly recommend her.
Dr. Sanford is a phenomenal professor! Not only does she have a wealth of knowledge in her field but she is also understanding and is willing to go that extra mile for her students. There is a lot of reading in the class but Sanford explains the material in lecture and makes sure that you are prepared for the test. Definitely take her!
Her expertise is incredible! We learned real world topics that matter in business like: cyber security, money laundering, corporate corruption, terrorist financing, data protection reform, and counterfeiting. She helps students in any way possible academic or professional. AMAZING WOMAN and Professor and Mentor!!!
I got to know Dr. Sanford more than most of my in-class professors. Two years after graduating I got in touch and she helped me through the entire law school application process and has been crucial to me getting into my dream school. She is so dedicated to her students!! If you care about the course she will help you through it and more!
She is awesome! I would take as many classes as possible with her she also teaches LES305! She knowledge is extensive and you will truly learn a lot in her class!
Professor Sanford is amazing! She really cares for the students and wants you to be successful! Her class is great for discussion so do the reading. Very helpful and relevant topics as to what is happening in the world today and the challenges that come with ethical decision making. Not everything is black and white.
Dr. Sanford is an amazing professor! I totally loved her lectures, very motivational. She is very helpful and is one of the professors who actually likes her students and wants them to succeed in the real world. Just as long as you go to class and read the book you you will have an A. She keeps in touch even after the semester is over. The best!
She truly is amazing professor who clearly you can tell loves what she does for a living. This class is not easy, and is not meant to be. Be prepared to do a lot of reading it is a Law class so duhhh it is expected. Read chapters before attending class because she goes of that. It is lecturing class to lecture what you should already know.
She is truly passionate and enthusiastic about teaching. She does not hesitate to stay after class to discuss topics more in depth and takes calls on her personal cell phone. I would recommend you take her in person. The classes are fun and enjoyable. She gives clarity and focus to real world issues and encourages you to trust your instincts.
Excellent material and made it very interesting!
TAKE THIS CLASS! She is there for students and goes the extra mile ---even gives her cell number. Her lectures are entertaining and informational. My favorite ASU professor. In-depth knowledge on many current topics, particularly data protection reform and international white collar activities. Material is useful. Exams curved. Drops lowest score
Really enjoyed this class! Quizzes and exams are challenging, but they are open book, open note, and exam grades are curved. Your lowest exam grade is also dropped. Dr. Sanford is very organized, and her Blackboard page is easy to navigate. Responds to emails quickly! The class is simple but challenginghow school should be. Highly recommended.
Awesome professor. Do your readings and you will pass the class. All quizzes/tests are open book/open note and she drops your lowest test score. The textbook is actually an interesting read as well.
She is a fair teacher who is engaging and inspiring in the classroom. She's very knowledgable and cares about her students. If you take her class always check that the points you've "earned" are correctly entered in at the end because even though I contacted her, I got no email back and lost the A I deserved due to a math error.
She is a wonderful professor. I like her so much. Her class is interesting and she's always willing to help students. If I have a chance, I'll take her class again!
Class is mandatory for my degree, so I'm a bit biased. I feel that Dr. Sanford is a bit egotistical. I love the real world examples, but there is waaaaaaaay to much 'me me me' content. Would've liked to see more external opinions. Very wordy, lots of reading for weekly quizzes. Perfect course if you're a good test taker and hate busy work.
You can get an A or a B easy. You have 2 chances for the quizzes so just go back to the first quiz, write down all the answers and then take the 2nd quiz again, although there are a few new questions. Her actual ability to teach an online course is horrible. She literally does not even know what her OWN exams are going to be about. Total joke.
Really enjoyed the online course and learned so much. Would definitely take another class with Dr Sanford. One of the hardest classes I have taken while at ASU, but definitely worth it. Not an easy "A" but you have tow attempts for quiz and lowest exam score is dropped.
Really straight forward online class. Do the quizzes every week. You can open the quiz and have enough time to search for the answers in the book as you take it. Have to use lockdown/webcam testing though, so no internet help. The big assignment in the mid semester is graded tougher and the sources are more ambiguous than hoped for.
She is truly an amazing person. read her bio!! or google her, she is the real deal and I respected that!! I almost wish there was more work graded to give you incentive to keep up. she gives tons of reading and you must read every chapter but theres like 4 quizzes 3 tests and that's it. so no hw everyday is nice but you better read for those tests
Lots of reading for weekly quizes. Three tests and she drops one and theirs cum. final but it dosent cover everything. Curves when class does not do well and offers extra credit on tests. If you read the chapters a once or twice you should do well on tests. Quizzes are pretty easy too.
This class is pretty difficult if you don't treat it as important as your in-person classes. Do the quizzes and always try to get 10/10 (option to retake each exam once for the higher of the two grades). Every point matters in this class! All except one exam are open book/notes so take advantage of that an get an online version so you can search
There is no extra credit like someone else suggested. She does curve exams but half of them were curved because she told us to study the wrong material. She teaches over 400 LES students so if you actually think anyone is going to watch you take an exam for 90 minutes, think again lol. Pretty easy class though.
Lots of quizzes and exams but all but one are open note/open book. I recommend the online book for easy searching.
She didn't always respond to my emails. Ethical Assessment was hard. The Ethics book was extremely hard to read, full of vague legalese. Cheeseman book was great though. Course was great, challenging though.
Tests can be studied for by using the powerpoint. She curves everything so you can get an A with a decent amount of effort. Not a cake walk, it s a law and ethics class
Taking this class online. The quizzes every week were easy, but the tests are harder then they seem. The tests are only on a few chapters at a time, so some chapters you only read for the quizzes & not the tests. Material can be repetitive from government and business classes. Instructor doesn't factor much into online class unless you go to office
I enjoyed the course. Sanford was easy to contact and reasonable with due dates (such as extending assignments due the weekend following thanksgiving). 4 weekly quizzes, 2 exams, and a final. Tests are open-note but timed, administer through proctor U. Overall a great course.
Good online class. Straightforward study materials. Open book exams and quizzes except for one quiz. Repeats much of what is learned in other governmental or business classes.
Take her. Sanford is BEST professor I had at ASU. The lessons I learned in her course about ethics and international business extended well beyond the textbook. She is passionate about empowering students. Her Saturday morning gatherings really helped me with online class. Sanford really dedicated to her students.
Great class and great teacher! She develops a good rapport with students. Sanfordis one of the most caring professors I have had at ASU. She is passionate about teaching and spends extra time with students. Exams are fair. Quizes have two attempts.
Hybrid class is definitely worth the trip!
Outstanding teacher. always answered all my questions. she's a great career mentor and provided us with meaningful feedback Outside of the classroom. She is considered the go-to person for many students. Class gives practical information about the law and real wrold expamples
AWESOME! Very inspirational. really enjoyed this class. Saturday morning gatherings are great. Not mandatory. very useful. Exams are multple choice. Quizzes are true false. Sanford has empathy which is her greatest quality. She is compassionate and understands some bad stuff can happen
Really enjoyed this class! Hard to get into, but definitely worth the effort. Class fill up quickly. Every lecture had fascinating material. Great to have someone of her professional stature. She provides sound reasoning and requires students to think critically about problems and consequences. BB outline andaudio recordings are very helpful.
Quizzes and tests all open note, open book with all questions and answers word for word. Only hard assignment is the ethical awareness assessment, but she curves EVERYTHING. Two tries on each quiz, one due every week. Videos and audio lectures useless, just use the slides and textbook.
Really enjoyed the class. Lectures were entertaining. Prof uses practical examples. Strongly recommend hybrid course.
I thought this class was made harder than it should have been. TOO much reading involved for a 300 level course, sometimes 2 chapters a week, plus weekly quizzes, required links (at least few a week, 2 hrs or longer), reading from her published book.
For the online class, all the assignments but one are open-book and open-note. Everything you need is in the book. Get familiar with the book, have it on hand, and know how to find the answers in it while taking the timed weekly quizzes and exams. It's not a hard class, but you have to do the work. And have the book--it's a free A if you do.
Besides for her own published book that was needed sporadically throughout the course (mainly for the ethical awareness assessment), I enjoyed her class and the resources she provided us with. It was a great course to learn about general & business law. RPNow was annoying but regardless, her class will work if you put in time outside of a classroom
Dr. Sanford obviously cares and tries really hard to help her students. She is probably the nicest teacher I've ever had. However, she is extremely unorganized, ill-prepared for each class, doesn't know her slideshows at all, and lectures on good information, yet irrelevant to weekly chapters. So much reading and self-teaching; so little time!
This was a great class. It is clearly an upper division course so don't expect spoonfeeding. Professor Sanford is the real deal. Google her! Exams are curved and lowest exam grade is dropped. Quizzes have two attemopts. She is approachable and friendly. Saturday morning tutoring was helpful. i would take any class she teaches.
Super! Really enjoyed this class. Prof Sanford's lectures are well organized. She provides detailed outline with help with exams. Snapshot the charts she writes on the board. They are helpful!! Sanford is caring and takes time to explain difficult concepts. Highly recommend her class
Probably most useful course I have taken at ASU. Its a lot f work, but worth it. Professor Sanford is awesome!
Online quizzes are open book, but require you to do the reading. Outlines she provides are really good. She has a lot of credibility. in depth information on international issues and news-This was a useful class!
Enjoyed this course. Definitely would take professor again. She is conscientious and has high standards. lectures are easy to understand. Well-structured format. Ethical awarensss has short essay. Exams are Open book.
Great course! Recommend taking this class if you are interested in global business. Prof Sanford knows so much. ASU is lucky to have her! Quizzes are easy, but exams are difficult. Read the book and use the outlines she provides.
Prof really cares about students. Spends saturdays tutoring those who need extra help. Awesome class!
GREAT CLASS! Strongly recommend
Excellent! Really enjoyed the course. Saturday gatherings are great--two hours of tutoring by the prof. Exams are multiplechoice and quizzes are true false. Memorize the outlines!
Best professor at ASU. She is AWESOME. Not an easy class, but worth the effort and the time. Takes time to explain and offers tutoring on Saturdays
Absolutely engaging. Strongly recommend.
Took the online class and A was practically guaranteed. You don't need to look at the weekly videos, just the review slides and your book. As mentioned by others, almost everything is open-book so tests/quizzes are no sweat. Very low time commitment.
The best professor you could have. She knows what she is talking about and takes the time and effort to explain the material. I took the in person class and it was worth every minute. The book might make the material look boring and hard to understand but Sanford describes the material extremely well.
Loved the class! I wasn't really into the legal aspects, but the book covers a lot and the quizzes/exams are open note/open book. I utilized the glossary for exams studied for the exams. The radio videos are long but the other lectures are interesting. If you're taking this class, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! If you need this course--must take it with Sanford. Best professor I took. She is inspirational and engaging. Material is not easy, but Sanford does a GREAT job of spoonfeeding. Would not recommend taking it with anyone else. She meets Saturday mornings for extra tutoring---two to three hours!!!
Sanford IS THE BEST!!! Her classes fill up quickly. The commute to West campus is definitely worth it. ASU is lucky to have her --we have a celebrity! It is entertainment at its best! The topics are hard, but she does a great job of explianing. TAKE HER CLASS!
This class was better than I'd anticipated. If you take it online, you're allowed to use your notes and textbook for the exams. I was shocked when I got 100% on the final...:) But that aside, Dr. Sanford is very informative and an excellent professor. A heads up though for the online class: you will need a webcam for the proctoring program.
TAKE Prof Sanford for LES 305!! Not an easy class. TAKE HER !!!
Class hard to get into but worth effort. reading required-- lectures entertaining. Not an "easy A". Take her outlines, study guide. Go to the "weekend gatherings.
Take her! She was great. Very clear and inspiring. Would take any course she offers. best professor at ASU!
it was not an easy course, but worth it. Would recommend this professor for this course. She has practical knowlege that was useful in this field and lectures great!
Worth the effort and the hour plus commute. you would be surprised as to how many people SHOW UP for this class--she is passionate about the course. Tests are fair. drops the lowe4st score. study the voc words--they are tested on the final! One of those professors that made sure you applied it to everyday stuff. Prof Sanford was fantastic!!
amazing professor and cares about her students so much!! great talks and first hand experiences.
