No matter what BIO5 is WORK! Adriel speeds through lectures, not thoroughly explaining material and leaves you for open lab without explaining models. Even with study guides and practices tests, its still near impossible to get an A. material on the Exams were not even gone over in class. Many students found him unapproachable, he is young!
Anatomy in general is going to be a very rigorous course so don't expect to slack off and get a good grade. Put in work for studying, and you'll get an A for sure. Adriel is VERY approachable, provides extremely detailed lectures (which are recorded for our benefit) and loves answering questions. No multiple choice on tests and spelling counts.
Study 60+hours a week, this class is hard. He gave us 2 days to know 60 muscles and their OIA. VERY fast pace. He miss counts grades, add up your points and compare your answers to a fellow classmate when he hands your exam back. MANY students found grading errors. Takes forever to upload your grades to canvas, he is too busy flirting with students!
Professor Cruz by far is the best Anatomy professor at Sierra College. I took Anatomy 7A with him, and am looking forward to take 7B with him next semester. Very clear when he lectures, and talks at a pace which is easy to understand. Adriel is also VERY approachable and nice. Quiz every class, but they are fairly easy if you study. Take him!!!
Adriel is very nice, cares about his students' success, and is a great lecturer. He knows his material and presents it in a straightforward format. Very fair exams, no surprises, and no textbook needed. Extra credit offered on EVERY quiz and exam. Study 3-4 hrs per week and you'll be set for an A.
Take him. He is hands down the best professor I have taken at Sierra college. As long as you study, you will get an A. He is very caring and wants his students to succeed.
Best anatomy professor!
He is a really great Professor. This Is a hard class and he does make it rigorous. Get a study group, use open lab, attend class and you'll do great. Not hard concepts just a lot of memorization.
By far my fav professor at Sierra college. He is an amazing teacher and his lectures are very clear. If you have any questions he is willing to help and answer as he can. Any anatomy course will be tough with lots of studying, but take advantage of open lab and normal lab classes.
Anatomy is a hard class, but the way Prof Cruz does his lectures makes it easy to follow and understand. He was definitely always available for questions. He is a great teacher.
If you can, TAKE ADRIEL!! I was so nervous going into anatomy and he makes it totally doable. You just have to put the study time in and you will do good. Lectures are extremely clear, so you know exactly what to study for the tests. Always made class fun, very approachable and knowledgeable. Extra credit on very exam!!
this was my second taking anatomy, i had kreig the first time and had to drop out before the deadline with a 53%, i retook it the following term with adriel and i finished with a B. He is an amazing teacher! He records all his lectures and puts them on canvas and he also does all his notes on onenote and gives us access to them! Amazingly helpful!
You can tell that Adriel wants his students to succeed. He is always available to answer questions and never answers them in a condescending way. He is approachable and encourages his students to talk to him when they need help! He records his lectures at posts them online, posts his notes online, and opens up lab time. Take anatomy with him!!!
Best teacher I've ever had. Exams are solely based from lectures, no surprises like most professors! Just study what he covers in class and you will get an A. Stays for open lab 2 hours after lab, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! Offers lots of extra credit, super approachable and understanding. Best professor ever. I will miss Adriel in my future courses.
Adriel is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Very forgiving and lenient teacher - lots of extra credit; I ended up having well over 100%. Study hard! I suggest investing in lots of flashcards and printer ink!
So many good reviews, makes me think Cruz wrote them himself. He's knows Anatomy well & makes lectures interesting. But he is VERY unreliable w/ grading & puts online quizzes up Sat. when due Sun. 15 mins for 24 Q's or more. He will rush & teach new material the day before a test. Class average for a Lab Exam was D- and he smiled when saying that.
Teaches material well, but rushes things. Quizzes at the beginning of each class and lecture exams are NOT multiple choice like all the other professors. Good luck, you'll need to study hard for a good grade.
This teacher is good the course is fast paced but I've taken it with other teachers its just a hard class. Put in hours on end of studying. if you don't pass its your fault material is cut and dry. learn everything, basically. BIO 5 no matter the professor is hard so toughen up. there are quizzes not mandatory readying but know the material
Adriel is the best teacher I have ever had. He is a very approachable person and really wants the best for his students. He has some pretty amazing teaching skills and is very captivating. He gives lots of extra credit on exams and quizzes and is a lenient grader. His exams are all fill in the blank. So listen, make flash cards, & take good notes!
I really like Adriel and his teaching style. I do recommend him, but at the same time I don't. Yes, this subject is extremely hard itself, but he gives no mercy. Won't give hw for points, no EC other than on quizzes, basically just no fluff for your grade other than tests and quizzes. Very hard and test are all open ended which makes even harder.
Adriel is nice and a good teacher but his tests are so hard. It feels impossible to get an A. Your grade is solely based on tests. The tests are open ended and so are the quizzes which makes them like 5 times harder. I'm a 4.0 student but this class killed me. Take a professor that offers multiple choice on their exams, because anatomy is tough.
While I was in this class, I was a bit bitter about how impossible it felt. Now, I realize that with hard work it is possible to get an A. By far hardest class I've ever taken but has benefitted me so much while studying for my TEA's test. He really prepares you and doesn't baby you at all. This class is worth the stress and he is a great person!
This class is difficult in general, my only qualm about Professor Cruz is his grading time frames. He takes forever to give you your grades on basically ever assignment. So you go through the semester uneasy wondering where you stand. He is a fantastic lecturer, and easy to work with on missing class and assignments. Great guy!
While Professor Cruz is a very nice guy, the was that this class was laid out was almost impossible. For example, you have only two weeks to learn the entire skeletal and muscular systems by heart and be able to label them on a model and under the microscope. might be do-able in a normal semester, but DO NOT take over summer!!!
I highly recommend. Its intimidating at first bc he lets you know that his tests are ONLY short answers and fill in the blanks. But luckily enough EXACTLY what he lectures in class is what will be on the test no book needed. He also offers podcasts as well Incase you miss anything during lecture. Hes straightforward & extremely helpful.
Professor Cruz was an amazing professor in my opinion. He was there to any questions and be as helpful as he could. All I have to say that is bad is that his classes are not easy, but they are far more interesting and fun than many other professors. I would most definitely take his classes in the future and recommend him to everyone.
I got my very first C in this class. Of course Anatomy is a tough class, but i think Adriel made it even worse. He wasnt very approachable and his lecture exams were ridiculously hard. If there are other professors available I would definitely recommend checking them out.
I loved Adriel! He really wants every student to succeed, and is always opening up lab. Tests are open ended and 2 quizzes each week (on lab and one lecture which is online). He takes FOREVER to grade the quizzes, but fast with the tests. If you want an A, be ready to study 40 to 50hrs a week. Most students dropped, we had 10 after the drop date.
Adriel is a fantastic professor! Unlike a lot of the science professors at Sierra College, Adriel is very approachable, friendly, and an amazing lecturer. There are quizzes every class based on the previous lecture. Exams are pretty straight forward. Just be sure to study every day! Ton of extra credit. Labs are fun. Definitely take him for Physio
People take anatomy for the first time in college and blame the teacher for not passing. It is a hard subject but I would say Adriel is one of the better ones. You can really talk to him and have things explained. He also has amazing lectures and gives some extra credit. He also really cares about his student! It's a hard subject, be ready to study
If you're serious about following a career in the medical field, you really need a good foundation to build off from. Adriel provides that. He gives you EVERYTHING you need to be successful in the class, you just need to be willing to put in the work. Exams are based solely on lectures so if you don't like reading textbooks, this class is for you!
He is a sweetheart (if you can say that about profs) and a real gem! I took his class over the summer. When I got frustrated about a quiz result, he helped me to shake the stress off. He is ready to listen to you and patiently answers your questions even if he literally just explained that. Very helpful! Very professional! Best professor ever!
I'm about five weeks into class with Professor Cruz and he is hands down the best professor I have ever had. Extremely organized, always willing to answer questions, clarify or elaborate on something you need help with. His lectures are online and are very detailed and he walks you through every step. Definitely take this professor if you need bio5
I took Bio 5 with Cruz and got an A. I even wrote a review about how great he was as a teacher. A lot has changed. Hes a good lecturer but his study guide are unclear and he often has incorrect info on exams. The exams are fill in the blank and short essay. Super hard exams. Nothing like anatomy. Avoid at all costs for physio.
I signed up for Adriel's class without looking him up on here and I'm glad I took him. 6 exams all cumulative and a quiz at the beginning of every lab. His lectures are straightforward and he is very helpful if you have questions. His lecture exams are very difficult, but the quizzes give a lot of cushion and extra credit. Not a bad choice!
Took anatomy with Adriel last year. Only tested on material that was taught in lecture and was given everything I needed to succeed in his class. Didnt need the textbook thanks to Virtual Anatomy(comes w/class) No multiple choice (mostly fill in the blank). Finished the class with knowledge that has really stuck with me and helped me through bio6.
Would highly recommend Adriel's class. His lecture exams are HARD. The class average for lecture exams decreased as the semester went on. Lab exams are pretty easy as long as you use lab time efficiently and study at home. I loved the quizzes at the beginning of each class, they give you a tremendous cushion for exams
I've been taking Adriel for the past few months but this is one of my favorite college classes at Sierra so far. I took anatomy 2 other times with another professor and nothing would click. In Adriel's class it's easy to follow the notes we print out and he offers extra credit with every quiz! And since I'm taking the 2 semester anatomy it's slower
Adriel is one of the best professors I had for Fall 2019. His class is diificult and you have to study to pass, however he offers up to 2 points extra credit every quiz which really helps with your overall grade. His exams are very heavy. He is available to you whenever needed. Bought the book, but not required. Good study resource to have though.
6 exams and about 20 quizzes. Exams are very difficult - short answer or fill in the blank, no multiple choice. No homework or lab reports. Units 2 and 3 are by far the hardest, so hang in there. He was very nice and always available to answer questions, but did not offer much direction in labs.
Adriel was without a doubt one of the best professors I've ever had. Anatomy is not an easy subject but he makes his students feel like they're capable of passing. I took his hybrid course and I loved the format of it. There are lecture quizzes at the beginning of each class period, with extra credit opportunities. He truly cares about his students
Made anatomy easy to understand. Offers multiple extra credit opportunities. Really wants to make sure you understand the material. His tests are NOT multiple choice, so you do have to put in the time and effort, but if you do it's an easy A.
Amazing teacher. Cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Love his lectures too. Very clear and concise on everything.
Adriel is fantastic. He cares that you are understanding the material. All his lectures are online which was amazing considering the pandemic. Typically a quiz before every lecture/lab. With online there are still quizzes but you can do them twice. Exams are definitely something you need to put the work in for. Study well and you'll do great!
Only had him for lecture online but he was amazing- tests covered what he taught. Lots of info but if you're willing to study hard- tests are easy when you know the info inside out. Great lectures. Take good notes. Study virtual anatomy. Use tutoring and the model room. Apply yourself and you'll get an A+. Accessible and helpful- answered my emails
He's great. You just need to study hard. Do not buy the textbook- never used it. Do your best on quizzes and tests bc you can potentially get a few EC points that add up. 6 units- a lab test and a lecture test for each. Practice studying all the resources on virtual anatomy. Also, there's no HW, just study. Stay on top of it and an A is attainable.
Adriel would take two weeks to grade exams even though he had a program to do it for him. On average, he would take 6-8 days to respond to emails in an online class, even when an exam was coming up. He was VERY inaccessible. He also would not admit when he was wrong instead of fixing his own errors. His exams were fill in the blank & short answer.
Took the hybrid class with Cruz for lecture online. Lectures are hard to follow, he goes back on what he's explaining often. No homework, 6 hard free response tests and daily quizzes taken in person in lab. Hard material and hard teacher. Possible to do well if you make the effort but try to get a different professor.
I took Adriel for both anatomy and physiology and I wish I could take him 1000 times more! Hes one of the best professors Ive ever had. Physio was mandatory online due to worldly circumstances so he had to make due with online and I think he did a great job! I respect Adriel as a person and professor. People have been too hard on him recently
He does not use power point but, verbally describes, in great detail all of the information. Plus he writes down key points and drawing examples. However, his exams are rough and if you are having trouble with exams he is not willing to take the time to review your old exam with you to see your mistakes.
Professor Cruz is an amazing professor! He really has a passion for anatomy. His class is difficult but if you put in the time you will succeed. He normally gives extra credit. He is great at not only answering questions but making sure you understand why and how he got that answer. Always allowed to look at tests and willing to help. Work hard.
This professor seems good when you are initially taking this course but later as I took another anatomy/physiology course this fall I realized he sucks! He has mistakes in his slides and he teaches certain concepts so wrong that you learn it that way. He is an inadequate instructor. I regret taking his class.
Only had 4 lecture. Does not respond to emails in a timely manner. Lectures are clear and he breaks up into smaller videos. Exams are crucial! Go to office hours every week they are worth it!! Disability friendly!
literally do NOT take a bio class online with him unless you actually hate yourself. His lectures are FULL of mistakes and GET READY FOR HIM TO SKIP SLIDES ON YOU until you drop the class lol. I couldn't tell you what makes up the lab in this class. His mistakes in the lectures make it all so confusing. like I'm my own better anatomy teacher rn.
Worst teacher I have every taken for an online class. His exams are SO hard, gives very little video lecture about 8-15 mins ,very fast with a ton of mistakes and he doesnt re-record he lectures. Makes your note taking a mess. He expects us to know alot more then his lectures but yet tells you to not read the book. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! Worst teacher ive ever taken, everything is super fast paced. He obviously thinks we are all robots and can learn a whole unit in two days and take exams 2 days later, while have no life or family. Ive managed to keep my grades up but I literally have to study every single day atleast 4-6 hours or I/you will fall behind.
Literally one of the worst online classes I've taken online. Unless you're taking only one class, the crazy amount of work he gave us compared to the little amount of time we had to study for quizzes and tests will literally set you up to fail. He is not quick with grading & will literally be M.I.A. for weeks, when it comes to communication. Awful.
Be prepared to spend a lengthy amount of time on this class which should be assumed as it is a 5 credit course. The lectures has 2 units a week and moves fast, but he provides plenty of practice quizzes and exams before you take the real ones. He makes some spelling mistakes but is forgiving of yours on exams Fantastic teacher for a difficult class
I thought his class was extremely straightforward, and the material is easy to get if you adopt proper studying techniques like active recall or the star method. Write down every little thing he mentions in his lectures, itll probably be on the exam. I spent about 10-20 hours studying max. Study smarter, not harder, and itll be a breeze!
He is a really good professor! Gives plenty of extra credit. He really does his best to accommodate any issues you may have. Give plenty of easy points and he has his lecture videos split into multiple videos so that it's easy to find places to take a break or go back an review certain videos.
I normally don't write reviews but Adriel deserves this. Hands down best professor I have had. He is a genuine kind-hearted professor who will make sure you succeed in the course as long as you give it your all. He is always willing to help no matter the circumstances. I'm taking him for BIO6 next semester because he's just that good.
Professor Cruz is by far the best STEM professor I have ever had. I have never understood anatomy at the level I have learned from Professor Cruz's teaching, considering this was a repeat. He is also accessible outside class and really wants his students to engage themselves while also passing. Highly recommend Professor Cruz, you won't regret it!
Lectures are clear and concise. A lot to learn and memorize.
Physiology is hard enough and he makes it worse. If you do not have another choice, take him. It takes forever to grade your assignments, quizzes, and exams. I would never take him at all.
Best Anatomy and Physiology Professor! Frequent unit quizzes are to better prepare students to study for the exams. The lecture is separated into small sections, saving time for study and review. The exam is testing on what showed up in the study guide. Care for students' academic success and be very mindful.
His lectures are great. You will learn a lot in his class. It's not an easy course, but you can pass if you study hard. He offers many extra credit opportunities which are really helpful. Please try not to lag behind. There are 12 quizzes and 4 exams. Exams are hard and 200 points each.
Best professor!! I took professor Cruz hybrid class and it was easy and straightforward! He provides you with all the information needed to pass the exams and quizzes with an A. No need for outside resources. Lots of extra credit. If you study hard you'll pass with an A. Only downfall is he takes months to grade exams, quizzes, and assignment's.
Professor Cruz is a very nice person, unfortunately his teaching style was too relaxed for me to comprehend much, the class was fast paced and there was not much instruction. I have succeeded well with professors that are more hands on and engaging, if you are a student that does well going at your pace then this would be a good Professor for you.
Adriel is an amazing professor. I was so nervous about taking anatomy, but he explains things very well and cares about his students. There are lots of quizzes but he also offers extra credit. He made class enjoyable and fun!
Pretty manageable if you don't procrastinate and pace yourself. I did need to give up some lazy days to study but it was well worth it. He's a fair grader and offers lots of extra credit. He's kind and responsive.
Adriel is understanding, kind, and supportive. I spent 30+ hours a week on this class. It is super hard, literally a full-time job! If you do all the practice quizzes/exams and perfectly memorize all the structures, you'll do great! He allows 2 spelling errors for each answer, is flexible with due dates, short lectures.
If you can take Anatomy with Prof Cruz, do it!! Expect to study 30+ hrs a week if you want to succeed. Keep up with weekly quizzes, do the extra credit, and you will pass this class with an A. Prof Cruz is quick to respond to questions and/or concerns. He is easy to talk to and he makes sure you have a good understanding of the material.
Great Professor! It's a hard class and you will study TONS! Weekly quizzes which is meant to keep you on top of the material. Grade is based on quizzes and exams, no busy work which is nice cause its already hard enough. Takes long to grade. Get a study group going right away, that changed things for me!
I just started this class a few weeks ago but I absolutely love him as a professor. He explains things in detail but keeps it somewhat vague so you aren't bombarded, and anything you need to be re-taught he is 1000% ready to explain in as much detail as needed. Make sure you study lots but... I promise, with him you will succeed.
Seriously the best professor! Lectures were easy to follow. Assignments = easy. Quizzes = easy. Exams, alittle tough, but all answers are in the lectures and labs. Would 100% take this class again. I highly recommend this professor. Do all the assignments, put effort in learning the material, pay attention to lab explanations and you'll get an A.
Cruz was okay. Although I got an A, I feel as though I learned nothing. Lab was just a study hall instead of learning. Also, he gave us 4 retakes on exams (6 lab and 6 lecture) for full credit, it was very unmotivating. If you put in work to study and someone else didn't, they can use one of their retakes at HOME for full credit. He was not for me.
Adriels the goat! The MJ of anatomy. Only thing he needs to do is grade faster and occasionally we'd have to figure out things ourselves during lecture exams. I'd take again as he answers questions and is patient. He's a kind soul. Retakes saved a lot of people
Professor Cruz is AMAZING and a very understanding person! However, BIO 5 is HARD. There was a lot of material to cover but Professor Cruz provides resources & is readily available for explaining concepts. He does allow you to retake 4 exams out of the 12. My recommendation is to pretend like those don't exist & just ace your tests the first time.
Hey Yall!! Professor Adriel Cruz is amazing! The class works for even a busy full-time working student! He offers extra credit for every quiz and has chunked lectures to make things easier to find and understand. It was my first time taking a BIO class and while it was challenging, it was well worth the time and effort. Have fun!
Cruz is super kind and understanding of situations, he tries to help all his students and as long as you watch the lectures and try out the practice quizzes you will get a good grade in the class. The lectures + notes can be about 4-5 hours which is pretty typical for bio.
I took the 8 week hybrid class and it was a LOT, but Prof. Adriel made it so doable! Lectures were extremely straightforward. Use all the resources he provides and you'll do well. Quiz/Exams heavy, but also had small assignments that will slightly help add points to your grades, but impact your grade if the zeros add up. Very nice and lenient!
Put in the work, and you'll get an A! Anatomy is a difficult class, he teaches well and provides you with everything you need to excel. He allows 4 retakes on a total of 12 exams (6 lecture + 6 lab), and then he usually has ~24 quizzes. Extra credit available. Listens to concerns/questions.
Took this class during summer after failing it in fall with a different professor. I actually understood the material through his clear lectures and had the opportunity to retake exams I did not so well on. Cruz wants his student to succeed and actually cares. I would take him again !
Mixed feelings about this class. Prof. Cruz is kind, caring, and understanding. His lectures are videos and he breaks down the information into a simple form that is easier to understand. Learning is all independent otherwise. Doesn't grade often; Stay on top of everything because there's zero feedback, but he is a gracious and forgiving grader.
I WILL be seeing Prof Cruz for Physio because this guy has by far been the best teacher Ive had at Sierra I took the online summer Anatomy course, which dont get me wrong was hard in the first place, but he is great at communicating lectures are to the point extra credit and assignments doable you just need to take a lot of notes WOULD TAKE AGAIN.
Professor Adriel Cruz was AMAZING!! By far the most organized online class I've ever taken. I LOVED how he split up and structured his lecture videos instead of making it one long, repetitive one. He was also super understanding and flexible, I felt heard anytime I complained or asked for help. Definitely recommend!!
Great Physio Prof. Gives lots of extra credit thru in-class group quizzes. Labs in person 1/week. Lectures were online and easy to understand. Online quizzes and tests. Homework was light. He recaps any relevant Anatomy info for you. It's not hard to get an A, but you still need to put in work. 1 thing: he's a slow grader. Overall, great guy.
First bad experience with a 8 week. The professor EXPECTS you to spend 36 hours MINIMUM per week (recommends 43 hours for you to do good). He's "tech savy," yet doesn't know how to program the tests/assignments to work properly. Claims to care about the students, but gives over 20 assignments per week, and 200 point tests every other week. Goodluck
