She is very good quality teacher but very hard grader :(
instructor grades hard, and her two exams were really hard to prepare for since she basically told us to study everything. She does let us use notes on weekly quizzes, which was nice, and is very quick grading assignments. Very challenging course. Did learn a lot though. Spent about least 35 hours a week studying for this class , which was fun.....
She seems to be a reasonable person, however her expectations of us students were above what we were able to achieve. After the average of the midterm being below a 50%, it goes without saying that our understanding was not up to par.
VERY hard class. I recieved a 3.4 in PHYS 110, and barley got a passing grade in this class. Weekly homework assignments are not bad, but the mid term and final exam were extremely hard in my opinion. Her teaching style is a little frustrating. When asking her a question, her response is; "do you think you're right", or "what do you think".
She extremely hard. She is very smart, however she expects too much from students. All i can tell is if you don't want to hate physics and destroy your GPA, Do not take her...
I had this instructor for 201, 202, and 203 (Bad idea). The exams she gives are very hard to prepare for. The average for every test she gave was was below passing. She requires too much on the exams which she does not give you the background to succeed on. If you want to keep your good grades or pass DO NOT TAKE HER.
The BEST physics professor in GRCC forever. Although some of people may think that she is extremely hard, but what I think is if you pay 8 hours per week and do what she hopes you to do, You have no reason to get a grade below A. AND YOU CAN REALLY LEARN A LOT OF THINGS FROM HER. BTW, her instruction and the way in which she thinks is helpful a lot
Hard grader. She has one mid-term worth 20% of your grade, and a final worth another 20%. The class is difficult to 4.0, but if you study you'll be just fine.
decently hard grader, but not impossible. biggest flaw seems she relies too much on the online course to teach you, meanwhile the online course expects her to be teaching you. resulting in you actually spending most of your time on google trying to learn things. she is very in to physics, and clearly has a passion for it, which is nice.
Definitely the BEST physics professor in GRCC and I strongly suggest you guys to take her class.
Too much requirements on solving procedures. If you skip one step, that will be a points off. Don't recommend to take this class if you want to keep your GPA higher. Always try to take some points from every assignment, not adding points. Only one extra credit, which is useless.
I'm going to say 95% of my calculations were correct and yet I left the class with a 2.8. if your GPA is important I would not reccommend her. But she does give a pretty good lecture and have a good way about explaining things. But the frustration with her grading practices made the class very unenjoyable.
She's very enthusiastic about teaching physics. Her tests can be difficult if you don't pay attention in class or skip. If you have a question she's always willing to back track her lesson a bit and explain it again and can give you more examples if needed. I dreaded taking physics, but after this class I loved it.
After submitting to the fact that I would have a 3.0 or less in her class, she is a really good teacher. 50% of your test, you will have already seen at some point so those are practically free points. The other 50% will make you want to blow your brains out so show your work and pray for partial credit. I would take her for 223.
Physics with Battle is an interesting class, you can have a fairly good understanding of the content and get destroyed by her tests. Her tests are almost legendarily difficult. She expects you to take vague descriptions during lectures, and apply them in completely different ways than taught in her midterms and tests. Good teacher, bad tester.
The tests are "Legendarily Hard." Expect to get a ~50% on midterms, Homework is 35% of your grade with random quizzes on a problem from them and you can uses notes on them, SO TAKE GOOD NOTES ON HOMEWORK. Overall, good teacher, hard tester. If you show up and take decent notes on HW, you should get at least ~3.0, 83%.
Dr Battle is a really good teacher because you can understand exactly what she said. Her study check and the exams are the ones that will pull your grades down. If your concern is your grades, I do not recommend her. But if you do want to learn something from her she is the perfect professor. p/s I like her smile.
cold blood
Tough grader, HA! She looks at any small mistake and circles it, sometimes taking off a points on study checks. Words of advice, Watch the time on midterms, Ended up leaving two big questions unanswered and still got over above avg on the mid term. Be ready to Draw 6 Free body diagrams (at least ) for some questions. Follow her outline aswell
Best teacher. Very organized, nice. She knows what she is talking about. Hard grader but if you do put your time in it. It will be fine
Being in her class is like a robot. Only gives whats necessary. COLD BLOOD. Doesn't take anything personally. Emotionless. Tough tough tough tough grader
she is hard but as long as you work hard, you will be ok. worsheet and material in class are helpful. highly recommended !!!
Battle's positive outweighs her negatives. She is probably one of the best physics teacher there is. Taking battle for 2 quarters has TRANSFORMED me. She sticks true to her word and you'll get the best bang out of your buck. My advice, do not underestimate study checks. dont take her response personally and take adv of all the resources she gives.
She is the most amazing teacher I've ever taken in Physic. Her class and exams are supper challenged but you learn a lot from that. You will know how much you will learn after taking her. She makes me love physic a lot. She is great!!!!! Recommend take her class if you want to challenge yourself.
Tough grader but she's always very clear about what she wants so it's very fair. Don't miss class she has pop quizzes and you need the lecture. Ultimately an incredibly smart helpful teacher. Finally don't take her attitude personally that's just her.
Ah, Dr. Battle. There is a rumor that she's only given like 5 4.0s during her 12 years teaching, so if you like your grade high, don't take her. If you are willing to work your rear off and endure hours of confusion and frustration, she will cause you to learn a TON. I learned so much, but I would love it if she didn't grade so harshly.
If you have a choice to not have her as your professor. Skip her.
I love her class. Easy 4.0 ;) Her test is not super hard. What makes the class hard are 1. Don't skip class or late to class(Not even a single time) 2. Take good notes even when you are doing hws. 3. Don't leave class early even though you finished your lab(Make sure you did it right multiple times). If you keep these, easy 4.0
Dr. Battle is an incredibly intelligent professor. This is very clear in her teaching. The difficulty in this class is her translating this knowledge to an understanding for a college level course. I think she would be an excellent university professor. For community college however, its a very tough class.
Don't take her class. GRC should not put this professor at any class. If you are 30 sec late for class, you won't be allowed to take any exam nor quiz. You just have to wait in class for everyone to finish exam with doing nothing for more that 15 mins, sometimes more than 20 mins. Worse, she tend to take more care of women rather than men.
Dr. Battle taught us nothing. We learned everything from FlipitPhysics and basically just did practice problems in class. For struggling students it's almost like she tries to make them feel dumber, rather than helping. Finally, if you don't already love physics, don't take her class. She doesn't make it interesting
Her class is a Battlefield. Before thinking of getting a 4.0 GPA, ask yourself if you can survive.
Think twice before you take her. No, think three times! She did not teach much! Half the class time there were either group labs or group problem solving. She doesn't always clearly explain the answer, if question was asked in class. Her midterm was fairly easy, but the final brought the gpa down from a 4.0, very deceptive.
Mos of the class time is either labs or solving problems in groups of 3. The labs are worth 5 points, so if you make a single small mistake your grade goes down by 20%. There's a lot of 15-minute quizzes, and almost no one can solve all problems in that time, so you rush and make silly mistakes. She's very intelligent, but too tough.
Dr. Battle's class was really fun. I think this is the first time I actually got to think about physics as a phenomena in reality. The homeworks on flipitphysics are challenging so start doing them in a study groups early. Work smart! The grading in this class is highly based on study checks so make sure you take notes when doing your homework.
This was the hardest class I've taken at Green River. Exams are challenging. I did every homework assignment, met with tutors, went to office hours, watched every single khan academy video on the topic, did extra practice problems from each unit, yet could only manage a B on exams. The average class grade on the final exam was in the D range.
Battle's classes are not easy, but they are clear, challenging and collaborative, sometime you really need to try your best to figure out those problems given in classes and questions on lab report. Study check's problems come from homework, but have time limits which sometimes can make them very challenging. Exams are not hard as study check.
Her class was not easy. You really need to work for your grade. But, it was structured and delivered well. My grade in her class reflected personal issues. I do wish that there was more than two exams.
do not complain. take her and you wont regret it
the best physics teacher. I took clay but I loved her more!
First off the class would not be that difficult if the homework/test/study checks did not require a 5 step process. Typically most things can be solved with a simple equation but good luck just doing it the easier way. Hypocritical on grading and expects you to just understand what is going on instead of walking through the difficult concepts.
Professor Battle doesnt teach at all. She uses flip it physics so she doesnt even lecture. A robot teaches you and the homework you get is completely different from her exams. Complete waste of time. If you attend office hours with questions, she makes you feel stupid and like you should already know how to solve the problem when she doesnt teac
never take her, even if it's the last choice
Aight' so you think this pandemic professors wil be atleast considerate of what they give to students, coz all of us are suffering. well yea most of the OTHERS were. but this professor ain't you need to follow WHAT SHE WANTS TO BE SHOWN IN THE EXAM. THERE SHOULD BE PICTURES AND 7 OTHER REQUIREMENTS. GIVES 19 EXAMS ONLINE FFS
most stressful professor I've ever had, and yet I've been studying for 6 years. All good grades, scholar, working student, and an achiever in class. I thought she was gonna be considerate of her students since theres an actual pandemic going around. She's hilarious. yea her quizzes requires 6 useless graphs not even needed on the problem
Do not take any 200 level class form this person. LITERALLY YOUTUBE TEACHES YOU BETTER. This person does not do anything. Not a single lecture video. LITERALLY NONE. You are gonna waste your tuition and time. And it's gonna hurt your GPA. It's gonna be the worst experience in your entire college life. GUARANTEED.
Would you wanna waste a quarter of your time being thought entirely by someone in the web? Wanna waste your time and efforts just searching for another resource online? Wanna have labs and homework due on the same time as your finals? Wanna waste money by paying the school to teach yourself ? Enroll now and get a limited edition F- -
she is the most irritating teacher i have ever had in my experience of schooling, in the beginning week there were total of 25 students and by the end of 3rd week there were only 7 total students left in the class, totally unbelievable right! She is very heavy on tests and exams, takesOFFpointforNOTHIN NEVER TAKE HER EVEN IF SHE'S YOUR ONLY CHOICE.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She grades your work on the exams and if you don't follow her steps you'll lose points even your answers and progress are right.
Do not take this class ever. I am a 3.9+ student, only gotten maybe a couple B's ever, and this class I'm hoping to pass with a 2.0 so I can get credit. All of the learning takes place on flip it physics, but the tests are on different content in her notes. She does not explain anything, and grading criteria is very unclear. First exam average 50%.
In the first exam, she will give you very unfamiliar problems that require you to think a lot (most students didn't do well). But in the next two, just go over and understand well the problems on FlipIt Physics, because now she would give you the familiar ones. Also make sure to do the labs carefully, and you will earn a good grade.
This is a 100 level class that my classmates and I had to take to graduate High School and meet the running start requirements. Once I started I instantly tried to drop it, but it was too late. There were no recorded lectures, just the textbook, online program questions, group projects, and tests. I CAN'T TEACH MYSELF, I had to withdraw for my GPA.
Man, if you are familiar with The organic chemistry tutor on youtube, khan academy, chegg, slader, and other online teaching resources? I'd bet you all my money that those things teach better than her. All resources she has online? 0 help, 0 explanations but 100 % complex, 100 % non relatable on exams. nothing. She's hopeless and you'd be too after
If you can, try to avoid attending her class; it is so heavy in lectures. The handout doesn't help at all. Labs every week (and it's group work). Quiz.... way harder.
Do not take her classes if you desire to get a high GPA. Her first exam will make you realize what I am trying to say.
Worst teacher I've ever had, everyone in my class was failing. The teacher was no help what so ever.
OMG, this is probably the worst class I have ever taken. And I am a CS major. I have taken Calc 1 through 4, no problem, but this INTRODUCTORY physics class was confusing, complex, and terribly taught. Her lectures are literally just walking through a pdf of already done work, with bad explanations. DO NOT TAKE HER. YOU WILL NOT LEARN PHYSICS!!!
Just don't take her. Ever. She has zero interest in making her students succeed, she'll give a 45-minute video for ONE chapter of material and tell you to go to her office hours for more help. When you do, she'll ignore you and email other people while excusing it as "multitasking". Grading is vague and she wont accommodate for issues you have.
If you want to fail and do everything yourself take this class. Worst teacher that I have ever had, 3 question midterms/finals that are worth 100. I have never gotten below a C in any class I have taken before yet I had to drop this one. Majority of the class dropped, none of the students liked her teaching methods. All self learning.
She is the worst professor ever. Im still trying to figure out how shes even allowed to teach. Me and my class reached out to the dean about her and they didnt do anything about it. The professor herself did nothing about it. Her grading makes 0 sense. The material itself isnt hard to understand but she grades hard and complicated everything!
Open your eyes, look through all the reviews below and for your own mental health don't take this "class". You will be miserable, you will ruin your GPA, you will hate everything! This is not a class and she's not a professor, doesn't give single f about you or your success. Had to drop to save my GPA. Stay out!
There are many chapters with many pages filled with many difficult problems. Unless youre a physics genius, dont take this class. She doesnt explain anything. You have to do and learn everything yourself only to end up with an exam that has completely different problems from the textbook or homeworks. Not worth your money, time, health, or GPA.
She doesn't actually teach, just gives out homework and maybe some written out problems as a guide but they won't help you. I felt like I was teaching myself. She puts in zero effort to make sure we're learning something from her. In my class the first exam average was 40%. I had to drop the class so my GPA didn't drop. Please avoid her if you can.
She is awful, extremely strict and if anything happens you hope that you did everything perfectly on time.
Cons: Expects a lot from you, has very heavy elaborative homework, group projects, only allows you to get credit on an exam if you solve a problem using "her method". Pros: Very clear with what she wants from you, has open office hours that are fairly easy to access. Responds very quickly over email.
This teacher does not teach. I was in a hybrid class. The exams were in-person and everything else you had to do online. They used the homework and an online resource to teach. When you ask for help, they don't explain the thought process behind a problem or clarify any misconception a student may have.
One of the worst professor you could ever have. she doesn't teach anything and except from you to learn everything by yourself. homework are tough because she doesn't explain anything you should not take her class it's waste of time and you maybe drop her class. do not take her class.
DO NOT REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS!!!!! This is a complete waste of time and stress just don't take this professor. She excepts you to self teach everything, do homework's that were not explained properly, Very exam heavy, No proper lectures, 1 video per homework assignment and topic. If you want to pass physics don't take this class!!! (I took hybrid)
She is one of the worst professor in the college I ever had. she doesn't teach anything and when you ask for help she will ignore you and she makes you to drop or fail the class because the exams are way to hard and I don't know how the F*** she is still teaching.
Bruh makes me wanna cry
animal is better than her
The class was listed as in person/hybrid, but on the first day of class she established that there would be no lecture. ALL of your learning will be from the textbook and the only "teaching" she will do is if you go in during "help days" after emailing her for specific hw problems. Will dock you points unless you deadname yourself on tests.
I only stayed in this class as I submitted a pass/non-credit form ahead of time. This professor doesn't teach. There's recorded lectures but theres this annoying ringing noise whenever she speaks and she doesn't really explain her reasoning and thought process. My advisor told me theres an investigation now due to lots of complaints.
This professor is extremely unprofessional. You will need to sacrifice all joy in your personal life because even if you go to her office hours, she is a help once in a blue moon. My suggestion. Get on your knees and start praying because you do not stand a chance. Or join an education discord - that's what I did. Also, libraries off tutoring.
Please for the love of all things good do not take her class. If you choose to email her and show up to help days, yes she is a nice person and will help you when she can, but 3 hours of help every week will only get you so far when her class is set up to make you fail. There is a ton of homework and the tests are very hard.
She's a great teacher. But not recommended to take her class at any level of Physics. She's tough at grading too many theoretical concept questions rather than problem solution questions. So, never take her unless you don't have any other choice. By the way, I failed her mid-term and I dropped the class.:")
She has pop study checks at the start of class so you can't be late. Her class heavily relies on the prelecture videos included in homework (she doesn't teach much in class). For the labs, you work in new groups everytime so gotta pray that your group mates are alright. Tests are not difficult, but you need to follow her steps.
If you are more of a good self-learner, this is suitable for you. I worked hard to get the desired grade. It's not easy, but it's possible.
I dropped out in the second week of class. Meeting times were mon/wed but weren't mandatory just for questions. I tried going and stayed late she didn't even help teach it. It was like I was supposed to know physics beforehand(keep in mind this is an intro to Phys). Advisor even said she was one of the worst professors at the college.
I don't know why she is still teaching and I didn't get it why students still sign up for her class.
horrible
does not teach anything. very difficult tests and homework.
Does not teach anything.
Worst teacher in GRC. Does not teach anything and test is very difficult. Everyone is like failing.
More than 75% students dropped this class.
Not good for your well-being.
This teacher does not teach anything in class. Horrible!
Made me hate physics more than anything.
i learn more physics from oppenheimer and star wars than her
wasted money on this class, just to have a teacher do nothing, be disrespectful and hover over me during tests. first test was easy but got 75% next test i got 40% and then dropped out
waste of money waste of time.
she was really good at teaching. go choose her class right now
One of the worst professors I've had to take, If there was a negative rating I would have done it. The lectures are alright, but it can be made harder than it needs to be. I would also advise that the grading in the class is extremely critical, one of the more tougher graders. If you have another option than her I would recommend you to take it.
Regarding Dr. Battle's teaching style- solve problems with your table and most definitely ASK questions. That's how you will succeed. Always willing to help on labs or homework. Show work! For exams, prepare yourself by studying your weaknesses. She likes to test those on exams. Exams were typically 2-3 questions. Grading is fair almost to a fault.
All the negative reviews of her are spot on. I've taken the calc series, organic chem series, biochem series but this was the worst because she does NOT teach. She shows a pointless video for her "lectures" of her having written out answers to examples but she doesn't explain them! Got a D+, took course at a different college and got a 4.0. Run.
Great professor. Hard work, but learned a ton.
First, I do not recommend and one taking his class including people who are very good at math and physic. It is very hard to get a good grade in his class that there is no extra credit and any kind of way to make up you grade. 20%for study check, 20% for Homework, 20% for lab, 40 for exam.
Focuses too much on following her setup/strategies (even tho some steps totally unnecessary whatsoever) rather than on actual reasoning/critical thinking/efficiency of problem solving. Grading's set up such that even 1 tiny error means that it's impossible to get 4.0 (the grading seems designed to end in low grade no matter how well you do overall)
Her teaching is nice but traumatizing. She explains well but confusing. She asks you back and more questions when you ask for help.
Relies too heavily on the textbook, homework can be overwhelming as she does not fully cover the solution procedure for some problems. Felt like she left us on our own for some of the topics, willing to help if u ask questions. Study checks are open notes and exam are not bad if u understand the homework.Take the class if your willing to self-study
The Professor is king hard. even though u get very well on understanding the topic, the exams she gives will be different (it means its not related to what we do on the assignment). I don't recommend you guys take this professor if you guy still want 4.0 GPA.
The class relies heavily on pre-lecture videos and group work. Tests aren't too bad if you follow the professor's steps, but it's a tough class. unstuck AI helped me prepare efficiently for the exams.
As her last name says, you will fight in a battle, not to save your country, but your GPA. She STOPPED teaching after midterm. Everyday she write question on board and asked us to solve it, not giving a single explanation. When someone got correct answer, she write ans on the board and NO MORE. Exams different with class materials. Don't take her.
Like her last name, you will fight in a battle, not to save ur country, but ur GPA. STOPPED teaching after midterm. Everyday she write question on board and asked us to solve it, not giving a single explanation. When someone got correct answer, she write ans on the board and NO MORE. Exams COMPLETELY DIFFERENT with class materials. Don't take her.
Tough grader, worst exam I had through my educational journey at GRC (it was nothing like she taught), very little lectures (many labs and even more just spending the whole class solving a question she wrote). Stay away.
Her grading criteria are too complicated, making it hard to get a perfect score on regular quizzes. She doesn't cover much in class, so you have to rely on yourself. The midterm is manageable, but the final exam is completely different. Plus, it's one big problem, so if you make a mistake in the early steps, everything that follows is wrong.
You must study and teach yourself the course content using the textbook. Lectures are reviews of what you have studied on your own time. You must come to class on days of the labs, study checks (quizzes), and exams. You can only makeup the labs at her discretion. This professor is only recommended for students who are motivated to self-study.
Even Isaac Newton wouldve failed
Destroyed my grade.
Very tough grader. Deducts ton of points off quizzes, exams, and labs for a small mistake. One small mistake will obliterate your grade.
Possibly destroyed my future. Dont repeat my mistake.
One study check is worth 4-5% of your grade. 1 minute late to a study check session and you lose 0.1 GPA. And thats before having your grade destroyed by exams and labs.
I dont know what made her hate us so much that she destroyed her students grades so much.
Cooked my grades so bad that I dont know what else I can do with my life
She is very difficult. Avoid her.
Shes not helpful at all in answering questions. I felt very unsupported and abandoned in her class. Really testing my mental health with her awful teaching and hard tests. I suggest to avoid her.
Tests are only 2-3 questions. Screw up one and ur done with this class. Good luck.
I suggest you to read through these reviews and reconsider heavily before taking her class.
Class finals average was like in the 30s out of 100. Stay away if you still want a good GPA.
Never have I hated a class more than this class.
If i get a dollar for every second she leaves me in confusion, i will be a millionnaire.
Dont take her or regret it.
Toughest grader Ive ever seen. Test is 2-3 problems so there is no way saving your grade if you make mistake or so. Personally didn't even found her lecture helpful. Study checks are on random days.
Extremely tough grader. Will deduct a ton for not so big mistakes.
Stay away and thank me later.
I have never worn my seatbelt while driving to school as I wanna die before getting to her class.
Every time my lab fails i just hoped it blew up or burned me so she could pity me and let me pass her class.
She taught pretty well but only on a few days throughout the quarter. Her exams are very difficult, nothing like the lectures or homeworks. Tough grader on the labs too. Not really a recommended instructor.
Guys, take her class. Trust me :)
Bad teacher.
Her exams and graded stuff are very difficult. Her grading is also tough. She seems to make the materials harder than they actually are. Don't take her.
I am only two weeks into her class and I am losing hope. Dont understand anything and seems like Im gonna fail this class. I used to take physics with other profs but they didnt seem like this.
I dont feel so good about this class. I think i made the wrong choice of taking phys with her. Shouldve delayed this class.
She is a very tough grader. Exams and projects are difficult. Provided very little help or answers when asked in projects and labs. One small mistake and you are done from your good grade dream.
Late one minute for the class due to awful parking and she didnt let me in for the quiz. Lost 4% of my overall grade. Evil.
She designs her class to make sure everyone fails. Just plain evil.
What other reviews say is half true - if you want an easy class then take someone else. She holds students to a standard which is *not* extremely high but she does NOT BUDGE from that standard. She provides excellent help if you ask questions. You will NOT pass her class without putting in significant time out of class.
Disaster absolut
Avoid this class.
I am not the type of person to hate anyone, but she is the most disrespectful professor I've ever met. A professor's job is to make students confident in using the skills that are being taught, but she makes sure the students feel and do the exact opposite. The lack of respect she has for her students is genuinely mind-boggling. Do not take her.
Was a 4.0 student for 6 quarters (including taking 200-level physics with other profs, orchem, bio, and math), until she bombed my grade (not exaggerating).
I was going to go into engineering before this class, I am now going into education
Taking her class made me reconsider changing my major to business.
Whole class failed her midterm and she seemed to enjoy it.
She will be responsible for the lack of engineers in the US (I know at least 5 people dropping engineering major because of her).
People have been warning me against taking this class and there is nothing I regret more than not listening to them.
It's not even the finals yet and my GPA is sitting somewhere around 2.3. Nobody I know at class have a GPA higher than 3.0. Don't take her class.
There is a reason that other profs' classes have the waitlists maxed out but barely any person enrolled in this prof's class.
this class made an atheist becoming religious.
A real life super villain, she takes pleasure in the downfall of others.
She is alright, but definly the hardest teacher for not so hard class.
The absolute worst of the worst.
Seems nice at first but dont let it fool you. Has absolutely no mercy in destroying students grades and she seems to enjoy it.
i'm a running start student and i took 221 with her this past summer quarter. she has high expectations for her students but she's really passionate about physics. also in my experience, if you ask questions during class, she's super happy to answer them. i ended with a 99% with a pretty terrible work ethic. also, if she offers extra credit, DO IT.
The other reviews are too harsh—it is no fault of the professor that physics is an inherently difficult subject. However, it does seem like she sets you up to fail, only ever giving vague criteria whilst demanding perfection; not even Newton could get a 4.0 in this class. Be prepared to grind, homework alone takes 10-15 hours a week to complete.
