Mr. G is the best possible teacher to take for Oral Comm I highly recomend him he is great! He makes oral comm so much fun. A speech to him is just a story and he tells you that this class should be your least stressful and I promise it is. You won't regret taking his class.
HE'S GREAT! YOU SHOULD DEFINATELY TAKE HIM. HE'S EASY!!!!HE'S REALLY NICE TOO.
MR. G IS THE MOST AWESOME TEACHER EVER...HE WILL TELL YOU THOUGH THAT HE HAS NO PLANS OF TEACHING YOU ANYTHING IN HIS CLASS....HE ONLY WANTS TO BRING OUT WHAT IS ALREADY IN YOU....I PROMISE IF YOU TAKE THIS CLASS YOUI WILL HAVE NO REGRETS...HE'S SO AWESOME..
Mr. Gardner is by far the best teacher I have had at UCA. He was so fun and brought out the best in my speech abilities. He made giving speeches a fun thing to do and I am a very shy person. He helped me overcome my fears. Awesome, easy teacher.
Mr. G is the best! I strongly recommend taking him! You learn a great deal about yourself and the views of other people in the class!
He is the best oral comm professor around. He actually teaches you something and keeps the most laid back classroom I have been around. He actually makes you want to come to class.
TAKE HIM!! HES WONDERFUL!
If you don't take Mr. G. you are making a huge mistake! Fun class, and a great, understanding teacher.
Mr. G is great which made it easy to go to his night class
Very easy if you take notes, but somewhat hard to understand in that he doesn't talk very clearly. He lets you correct your tests and turn them back in for a better grade. If you and/or your class is laid back, he'll bump up your grade a bit. ;-)
great guy...funny too
Mr. Gardner is the freakin bomb!!! He told me and a couple of my friends in that class that he wanted to go and see a movie with us sometime. His class is pretty easy too. All you really have to do is just listen to his lectures about speech (which isn't really that indepth). Very cool teacher... pretty easy class... good cobination.
Mr. G is the best ever. He never gives homework, he's so funny, and yet he makes class just a relaxed environment. You should take his class!
MR G IS A GOD!!!! Seriously, this is the coolest person you can ever have for an instructor. Very easy to talk to and just an incredible man all the way around. TAKE THIS MAN'S CLASS!!!
GREAT teacher! Loved this class more than any other! A++++ Teacher!! I would do it all over again if I could!
He's really laid back. He gives a couple of tests that aren't that hard. He gives a few speeches. Plenty of bonus points. He's just a nice guy and a fun guy.
Mr. G rocks soooooo hard. Take him for communications i promise it'll be the best choice you ever made in your life. He should be allowed to teach every subject...
I LOVE MR.G!!!! He is the greatest!!! I would take the class again if i could!! Take him!
Mr. G is a cool guy! I highly recommend you take his class if you want an easy-going professor and a chance to do awesome speeches.
All I can say is it is Mr.G. One of the best teachers up there and if you don't take him you are missing out.
Best Speech Professor out there! His tests aren't bad and he gives opportunities to help your grade. Last semester we even had a class cookout.
This class was great! Mr. G is an amazing teacher and makes speech class fun. He always lets us out early too. The tests are pretty easy and we only have to give 3 to 4 speeches!
Mr. G is my absolute fav. teacher! He's really laid back and talks to everyone on a personal level. He's willing to help you with whatever problem you might have and tells you on the first day that he wants this to be your easiest class! He's super cool and funny. I LOVED this class, even though I don't have a big interest in speech.
MR.G WAS MY HOMIE!!! I FEARED GIVING SPEECHES BUT HE MADE HIS CLASS REALLY EASY!! I LOVE HIS CLASS! HE LOVES JOKING AROUND AND WE NEVER HAVE HOMEWORK!! IF U WANT AN EASY 'A', TAKE THIS MAN!!!!
best teacher in the history of college. Take Mr. G's class//it will change your life
The best speech teacher on campus!!! Had 6 friends in different classes and not only did I get more comfortable speaking in front of people but did less 5, 10, min speech and other long drawn out projects. He also was able to tell that the class in proved and gave us a pizza part!! Mr. G is by far the best comm. teacher on UCA campus!!!
This class was so easy that it was hard. I got more worried about this class than any of my others and he was kind of a hard grader. However, I came out with a solid A and had an okay time. If you are the no-stress type then take him, but if you tend to get stressed at not knowing what's going on then don't.
Cool guy. Class is pretty chill. If your shy watch out though cause he may call you up in front of class. Ans he gave us pizza
Great guy, easy to get along with, easy class if you do the speeches and what little bookwork there is. However, he was never on time for his own class. Always was 10-20 minutes late.
HE'S THE KOOLEST PERSON. JUST COME TO CLASS!!! HE GIVE ATTENDANCE POINTS
An easy A. Didn't give a single speech all semester. Rarely used the textbook; always got out of class early. Nice and funny guy. Don't take if you require a class to have any sort of structure.
Overall he's a pretty good guy. Very easy to get along with and he is willing to help you with any problems you might have, for class or just general advice. Damn good guy!
Best teacher i have ever had...he jus hlps u even if u dnt nid his hlp...makes the class interestn..i dnt remember missn his class...y would i??hes soo funny ,nt many nots n he givs u appotunity 2 cover up the points u lost...oooohh i wish all ma teachers wer like him...i'll mic u sir...stay blessd
Professor Gardner is a really nice teacher. He takes his time to work with every student, he tries to make his classes fun yet a learning expeirence for us all. The good thing about his class, is it is hands-on, group orianted, and WE create our exams!!!
Mr. Gardner is a real cool teacher and, he gone have to give us a pizza party after i pass that listining skills test
EASY A, JUST GO TO CLASS AND LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS AND YOU SHOULD GET A GOOD GRADE. GAVE 2 SPEECHES! VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND GET ALONG WITH. OFFERS A LOT OF BONUS POINTS AND VERY FUNNY GUY. I SUGGEST IF YOU WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT SPEECH BUT NOT JUST TO SERIOUS. THIS IS YOUR GUY. LIKES TO CRACK JOKES SO BE PREPARED TO CRACK BACK! LOL
Great teacher. Funny, cool and the work he assigns is usually fun. Test are easy. He treats u like adults. We maybe related we have the same last name. lol hint.. GREAT TEACHER I WOULD NOT LIE TO YOU..
My best teacher ever! The best thing about him is that he talks to you not down at you. Makes you feel comfortable to say whatever and give better speeches. He likes to joke around. Easy class. No hard work. I'd retake the class just for fun.
Mr.Gardner!! :) GREAT Teacher...Everyone Should Have Him...Very Funny! And Down To Earth.....PICK HIM :)
He's GREAT GREAT GREAT
HES WONDERFUL, and EASY! TAKE THIS CLASS YOU WONT REGRET IT! HES SO INTERESTING AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CELL PHONE USE. HE'S COOL AND YOUR HARDLY EVER IN HIS CLASS THE FULL LENGTH TIME! ALWAYS FUN GROUP PROJECTS, HARDLY EVER ANY TESTS, BUT LOTS OF EASY NOTES! THIS CLASS IS SO EASY!!!!
Ok, seriously he is the best professor ever! He will crack you up, very entertaining! You take notes, but they are very easy. No quizes, not a lot of speeches. He walks you through the speeches and outlines, therefore making the class an easy A!! I know for mid-term he pretty much told us what was going to be on the test! EASY!!
He is like to entertain. His class is very easy which allows you to make an easy "A". At midterm he told us what was going to be on the test.. EASY! You don't have very many speeches and he doesn't grade hard. For final exam we played jeopardy.
Gardner is a really cool person and understands that this class is to get the students to open up and be more comfortable talking publicly and openly, but he also realizes that this is a gen ed and that his class isn't our priority. The book was never used, and as long as we tried he always made sure our grades reflected that.
He's a great teacher. He is very down to earth and understands that the class is a gen ed class. There's not many speeches and he grades very easily. If you're nervous about speaking take him. He loves to entertain you, and his tests are ridiculously easy. I don't think I opened my book once.
Do not take him! I went in this class not knowing how to prepare or deliver a speech, and I left the same. He grades hard for someone who doesn't teach anything. He also never clarify exactly what materials to turn in. I learned absolutely nothing! I actually had to fight for the grade I felt like I deserved for this course.
Great class. Very laid back and helpful teacher. I highly recommend this class. Just put in effort, easy A. He loves to crack jokes and makes you very comfortable. GREAT AND EASY CLASS. I took him for Oral Communications.
Great professor! Easy A, take him!
Great professor!! Take him,easy A!
Great guy is still a mentor today. Easy A! If your dont get lazy like I did.
Professor Gardner was a great teacher! Make sure to sit in the front if you can! He loves his students. He does use quite a bit of language. There are a few group projects, but they aren't hard. Attendance is mandatory if you want the extra credit.
Such a great professor! He cares about his students so much and is always there to help when needed.
My favorite professor. He is caring and wants you to be the best you can be!
Professor Gardner is a great guy but he ended up giving me the wrong grade. I had a B shown on Blackboard as my total and he gave me a C and I emailed him about it and he never responded back. Great guy, but not a great professor.
I love him! He is such a good professor and truly cares about his students. He wants you to do well and succeed. He will work with you when you need help. Likes to joke with you. Such a good guy would take him every year every semester!
Prof. Gardner is a great choice for Journeys to Success! He does expect students to take the class seriously and do assignments, but he also understands that life happens. There isn't much work outside class. Gardner is pretty relaxed and jokes around a lot. He gives a few pop quizzes, but if you bomb it he'll work with you. He wants you to pass.
Taking a class with Adriian Gardner is by far the worst mistake I ever made. I barely passed his class because of the final. He would grade us on the most random things, and add in criteria that he never mentioned. At midnight he would email us and tell us to print off things before class started (9 am) for an actual grade. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Hes a very nice person, but was inconsistent with scores. His laid back personality does not translate into his grading. Speeches are graded VERY highly and any detail you mess up on can cost you a letter grade. It was very difficult to understand his expectations. Not what I expected out of an freshman level course.
Taking Mr. Gardner was a mistake. He is unorganized, mean, and doesn't really care whether you pass his class or not. Classes are really unstructured and sometimes you just sit there for an hour and do nothing.
Professor Gardner was ok. He cracked jokes every now and then. As far as grading, he grades very heavily. The instructions were never clear. The speeches will cost you an entire letter grade if you 3-4 mistakes when giving the speeches. The class was very unorganized. He will also email you around 11-12 o'clock at night!
Professor Gardner is very down to earth. If you take him, the only thing you need to do is 100% TAKE NOTES. He will go off course sometimes and it's great when he does because it is a stress reliever to just sit and talk about a subject. I think he is an amazing teacher and you will learn a lot from his Journeys to Success class!
Professor Gardner genuinely cares. As long as you participate in class and do your work, you will do fine in his class. He jokes around a lot and is very sarcastic. He's not the most organized on Blackboard (uploading assignments, etc.), but if you ever have a question, he is very quick to answer emails! He wants his students to succeed!
Dr. Gardner did was unorganized. We had two speeches the whole semester and he piled them on top of each other. Wasnt assigned them until two weeks before thanksgiving break and both due before break. He didnt respond to emails and was late for class frequently. Not good at communicating for a communications professor.
Professor Gardner as a person is wonderful and is a great guy to talk to. As a teacher, he is by far one of the worst. The class is extremely unorganized, he emails you really late at night, he is bad at configuring online components, he often cracks jokes and is sarcastic during lecture, and he is bad at answering questions regarding the course.
Professor Gardner is one of the best professors I ever had here at UCA. He really cares about his students and is understanding. He might get off topic a little but what do you expect ... he is a communication teacher . He wants us all to be great !!! DO YOUR WORK AND YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT ! Id recommend him to ANYONE !!
Gardner is a very nice professor and is super easy to work with. Unfortunately, you do have to waste money on the textbook bc you have assignments through it. The class was really unorganized this semester, but I think that is bc it was online (COVID). Easy A if you put in the work, he wants to help you succeed! Group project heavy.
This was my favorite class this semester, Mr. Gardner cares a lot about his students and takes out the time to make sure you're on track with your work.
As long as you do the work, you'll easily make an A. Dr Gardner makes class fun and is understanding.
There are a few things that I was satisfied with. It really stressed me out because of how unorganized he is. I would love for him to answer emails for our classmates but he hardly answers. He also doesn't really know how to work blackboard. He is nice, but his grading is SO WEIRD. The tests are also not based on what he teaches, only the book.
Professor Gardner is very chill and funny in class. Outside of class, he is almost impossible to reach. He rarely responds to emails. He is very unorganized. I don't understand his grading at all and doesn't really give feedback. Also, the tests aren't based on what he talks about in class, so READ THE TEXTBOOK.
One of those professors who doesnt fully understand the work he hands out, its a lot of busy work, he doesnt explains our objectives well either but when he grades he takes points off as if we can read his mind and know exactly what he wants, he just hands work out we do it even though a lot of it is stupid and we move along wouldnt recommend!
He does grade very heavy on speeches and group projects, but if you do what needs to be done you will receive a good grade. He made this class super fun!
This professor is a little weird. Hes a nice guy and his class is super easy but he is kinda weird if you email him about stuff.
Probably the worst teacher Ive had and definitely the worst professor Im not talking about out dude of class also only as a professor u can tell that most of the work he gives out is busy work and definitely not his idea hes just unorganized and leaves us to figure everything out, we should all have easyy As in his class but we dont !redflag!
Professor Gardner is really nice in class and it's obvious he wants his students to do well. He's pretty understanding with late work, but don't push it. He's not very organized and his grading is a little bit random and hard to understand. Just make sure to read the book because just about nothing he teaches in class is on the tests.
Mr. Gardner is hilarious and an overall good professor. he shows that he truly cares. work is average, some worksheets and projects but nothing too crazy. my only issue is that i didnt feel prepared at all for our quizzes or the final exam from lecture and the notes i had. quizlet is your friend here
Gardner makes class fun. It is easy to get an A if you participate, but it's also easy to miss assignments from him. You just have to check his Blackboard because sometimes he forgets to mention things due. He is forgiving to an extent.
Go to class and dont forget to turn stuff in on time. Otherwise its a easy class and youll learn how to communicate better.
Entertaining in class but his classwork makes no sense. He gives you quizzes like out of a Buzzfeed magazine and grades your performance in Sunday school-level class activities, and you can fail them. Doesn't teaches the course material, you MUST read the textbook to pass. Isn't straightforward about the material. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
For a communications teacher, it would be amazing if Adriian Gardner knew how to communicate. He gives incredibly vague instructions and is then harsh with his judgments. Many people seem to enjoy his class, but it's because he doesn't teach the actual coursework. Instead, he tells stories that don't pertain to the course. Take someone else.
You will have to read the textbook, and there are 15 chapters. Three webcammed quizzes from readings. Simple assignments, but must use terms from reading. He is awful at communicating. Avoid this class if you want a teacher to actually teach. Attendance points some days. Funny and nice guy at least. Do readings = A, just attending lectures = F!
10/10 do not take this class the quizzes are very broad and the assignments are impossible to succeed. He also does not like helping.
Don't get me wrong, this dude is hilarious and a pretty good guy, but I am a pre-med student with a 3.95 GPA and have never made a C.. until now. I tried so hard to do good on each assignment, sometimes putting up to 3 hours into just 1 and he gave me a C or a D on EVERYTHING. If you care about having a high GPA at all DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Grades surprisingly strictly while being very vague on rubrics. Does not give feedback or a solid reason for the grades he gives. You must read the chapters to succeed on the quizzes, because he does not do a good job of teaching in class. While funny and entertaining, he is not a good professor. This class had no right being this difficult.
Just save yourself the trouble and take someone else. Vague grading with no feedback or explanation. Tests have absolutely nothing to do with lectures. He won't answer emails and gets defensive when you bring up in person that he hasn't answered your email. The class was crazy hard for a freshman level course.
Professor Gardner's class is not hard, however, he makes it harder by not communicating well with his students. He is not good about letting you know what assignments are due when, and the syllabus is very vague. Grading is also very vague, with little explanation on why you received the grade that you did. Quizzes and tests are hard.
Really funny guy if you got some easy going people in your class. He even threw us a pizza party at the end of the year. The final was real hard.
Professor Gardner knows his stuff, but classes often start late by 5-10 minutes. Finding course materials is tough as they're split between Blackboard, where they're scattered in different folders, and McGraw-Hill Connect. Also, the lectures don't really match up with the textbook, making note-taking less useful.
Dr. Gardner is a great guy and is fun to have in class, but he is not a great professor. He doesn't cover all of the information needed for the final in his lectures, and what he does cover, isn't covered very well. He is a tough grader and seems to take random points off of assignments. You will need to read the textbook on your own to do well.
Avoid this class if you can. Grading is very vague, and criticism is not informative. Lectures aren't organized and are hard to follow leaving you to teach yourself with the book. If you make a minimal mistake on coursework, it could cost you a letter grade. The professor is funny sometimes, but that is it.
Prof. Gardner is hilarious & relates material to everyday life. Few presentations, study hard for final. Doesn't always use textbook terms on exam but I loved attending class and the random bonus points.
Super funny and kind! He cares and wants everyone to do good but you have to actually try. Bare minimum got me a C. You need to read the textbook for exams and his instructions for assignments are a bit vague. Not too much work in his class but he makes everyone comfortable with each other. Notices effort but ask questions and meet deadlines!
I enjoyed have having Professor Gardner, he had amazing lectures always brought energy to his classes. He is always willing to work with you. I would 100% recommend someone to take this class you will learn so much about how to become a better public speaker, and will have a great time in the class.
Gardner was very kind, but a little unorganized... def not a professor for your Type-A people. He shows that he cares, but simply to his favorites. Very good guy with very good intentions, but maybe should be a highschool teacher and not a college prof.
I would NOT recommend fall freshman taking this class. Although the class is required for the lower division core try not to take it your first semester of college. He is not the best at communication. Due to this I believe that knowing how to stay on top of your work without being told so is essential for success in this class.
Gardner is a good professor if you are more of an independent learner. Tests are about the readings (that are done outside of class). The class is very vocab heavy if you remove the vocab and have a basic understanding about how it applies you should be good! Lectures may seem pointless but are mainly trying to teach concepts. Super funny guy.
He is very nice and charismatic, but don't let it fool you. He rarely answers emails and hates talking about grades. If you even look at your phone during class, he will deduct points from your grade; he calls them "penalty points." His grading is inconsistent, and you rarely learn anything in class.
Although Prof. Gardner may seem very nice at the beginning, DO NOT FALL FOR IT. I received A's in all my other classes (including college algebra), and this class was by far the most difficult. He is extremely unorganized, but expects you to be on top of things 24/7. His grading is also very confusing and not straightforward. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Professor Gardner is an engaging lecturer, but his grading can be vague and tough. The exams don't always align with the material covered. I found ChatGPT and Unstuck ai helpful for study prep - they saved me time compared to just relying on the textbook.
This man is horrible at communicating for it being a communication class. He cannot communicate at all and docs people points for things that aren't on the rubric. He also has emailed my emojis in response to a question. Just emojis. No answer. He pretends to be chill before he shows his true colors. Don't take him.
Prof Gardner is funny but I felt like his lectures had nothing to do with his exams. I had random 0s in my grades he wouldn't update. Talked to him about the grades and it took him forever to fix them. Hard to understand, vague grading, very confusing process with the book had us buy it and we never used it. I do NOT suggest taking his class.
Do not take this man if you like to be updated on all of your assignments, know what your grade is, or like to get your work done. He does not even teach half of the time and talks about everything but what we are learning. All of the quizzes are on a lockdown browser and you have to learn these concepts on your own. DO NOT TAKE HIM
He's a funny dude. Assignments were relatively straightforward. However, he is a VERY tough grader.
He is not a good professor. He doesn't have many grades to input and grades very tough with little feedback. There are no quizzes just exams. He likes to change the syllabus without warning, reads off of the slides, gives definitions, not real world examples to help you apply to real life, even though irl examples are on exams he assigns.
He is so funny and amazing as a person but VERY tough grader. Little or unclear guidelines per assignment, and even though I check off everything on an assignment's rubric, I'd still get points deducted. I studied for quizzes using material he said to and still failed them... and I'm an A/high-B student.
I didn't learn a single thing from this class, and it honestly just tanked my GPA and wasted my money. pls do not take. I've heard the other comm professors are actually good.
Prof. Gardner is a funny guy, but a terrible professor. He is very spararic in his teaching strategies and would end class early in many occasions and to read the textbook for the test prep so NO STUDY GUIDES. He is a TOUGH GRADER and doesn't follow the course syllabus and will deduct points on little things and won't tell you why...DO NOT TAKE HIM
Hard Grader
He always found things to take off for even on easy assignments. He lectures in class but nothing that he went over in class was on the exams. Our exams were over the textbook that he never told us to read (until exam week) and the exams are made by the textbook so there were things on the exams that weren't even in the chapters. Do not take him.
Don't take this class if you are actually passionate about the subject and want to learn. Good sense of humor but that's about it
I had Gardner for Principles of Communication, and besides the boring-ahh class, he was really funny and animated and engaging, connected and related with the class well. As the semester progressed though, the novelty wore off, and I realized that he's NOT a very good teacher. He doesn't lecture so much as ramble, don't recommend to anyone.
Professor Gardner has an amazing personality but was an EXTREMELY tough grader. The quizzes are extremely hard for no reason and most of the material from them isn't even found in the textbook. I honestly don't recommend people to take this class since I know a lot of people who've had their gpa ruined because of this exact course.
