This guy rambles, his book sucks; there's nothing in it to help you.
So far he's not bad....
Maybe it was the topic - But his class was boring and very difficult!
um.. I had him for a GER and we had to read Plato's original works... so if you're into that sort of thing.. fine.. BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS AWFUL!
this guy ****ing sucks,m hsi tests and papers r impossible
I think he is great, he changed my way of thinking completely. The books are interesting, but you have to want to understand them. The mid-term was easy and the papers aren't long. I don't like the no yawning policy though.
hard and not that nice..dont take him take fitzgibbons
He is such a hard teacher! Take anybody but him!!
i can some this guy up in 3 words...un-f*cking-believable...hardest GER class i've ever taken...if you just wanna get through for credit sake, do NOT take this guy.
If you want to actually learn something, take him; if not, don't. It's that simple. He's kind of funny too.
His eye twitches a lot....and i want to fall asleep in his class. Do not take 8 am class!!!!!!
hard at first but stick with it past the first test. he tries to get people to drop
This class is kind of hard. He's very helpful if you actually take the time to go talk to him one-on-one though.
WORST experience here at BSC and I am a good student and involved on campus...DO NOT TAKE
Yea he starts out stern, but he is incredibly intelligent. He is very fair and tells you exactly what he expects in all of his assignments. You have to want to do well and learn in order to get a good grade. Def. have to earn it!! Stop being babies...
this guy thinks were back in highschool...no yawning, no hats, come on...knows his stuff but way to hard for a ger...take anybody but him!!
Sucks. Hard as ****
If your smart you'll do good. otherwise run.
ugh....no
He's kinda wierd because every example he uses has to do with violence. I'm not saying he's psycho; just a bit too wierd for me. He starts talking at the beginning of class and doesn't stop until the end. Don't take any class that he teaches!!
This guy is terrible! He makes a simple point like "justice is harmony" for example from my last 10 classes, and it could be summed up in 10 sentences, but he makes sure to use every last hour and 15 minutes. He has no sympathy and is proud of i
Nice guy and a good professor. If you want to do well you have to work. Sorry, I know that that may be hard to swollow, but he's not hard if you work. And if you do, you'll learn a lot.
He is not helpful, makes you feel stupid. He does not like to answer questions. He sucks bad.
he is one of the worst professors i have ever had. he makes learning extremely difficult. i have never done so bad in a class as i am in his. i work hard for my grades, but this class is just rediculous
I liked his class so much that I changed my major...awesome guy, but you definately have to work to earn the respect/grades that you get.
Let me tell you one thing, and this is the only thing you need to know. This little guy must have gotten the living crap pounded out of him in high school, now hes out on his little powertrip.
He's so cute!!! I loved his class!!!
He's a fool. Even I can see that.
I <3 Skoble
He's unclear and egotistical. He refuses to help because he feels that his web site should answer all questions. His is the only class I have ever failed. I don't know, his class just wasn't for me.

Very hard and borrrrrring.. Don't take him.. Save yourself...
Hard professor but if you do your work, read all the assignments, and try hard you will get a good grade. The paper is pretty difficult but if you put effort you can get an A.
His class was amazing. He is a very bright person and is interesting. Highly recommend him if you're not interested in just worming by.
horrible class, horrible professor, i never completely understood anything. His test are very difficult and i would study for hours, the papers he makes u write are hard and long. So hard not to fall asleep when you take his class at 8am, don't take him
RUN! His class was extremely boring. He takes himself way to seriously. I definitly wouldnt take him for a GER. I seriously had to try not to fall alseep everyday. RUN!!!!!!!!
skoble is a great professor but with high expectations, if you listen in class and participate, the course will not be that hard. he really is a nice guy and a lot of his points make you think. i learned a lot in his class...but his tests are really hard.
I learned more than I expected and wish I could fit another Skoble class in my schedule for next semester. Very smart guy.
This guy is the man. He is a linguistical little wizard who will shut you down. He will shut all you liberal goons down in a heartbeat. Take this class if you want to learn.
This is a very difficult course! I enjoy going to class and listening to the lectures, but he assigns a lot of work. The papers are very long and he grades hard. Nice teacher. Enroll at your own risk.
Honestly, this dude has a serious little man syndrome that he needs to sort out! Hes a very hard grader and since its hard to pay attention in class, ur in trouble once its time to write an essay and u have no idea what your writing about
Group Debates took up most of the class time, and were kinda fun while you learned. Only one paper and no final! Not that bad at all.
Unlike many other professors at BSC, Prof. Skoble never clearly expressed his personal political beliefs. He's a really nice guy, but his class is one of the toughest I have ever taken. Blame the subject matter, not the professor.
this man is ridiculously smart but nice too. he is hard but probably just because he is too smart for most to understand. he teaches well because he gives fact rather than a lesson filled with his opinion.
He is a very smart man and I like his style during lectures - just the facts. He brings up interesting points and genuinely loves the topic. I regret taking his class as a GER, and even more so at 8 am because he gets pretty mad about people coming in a few minutes late. Hard tests and assignments.
First time i ever met him, I asked "are you mr. skoble?" to which he glared at me, and said "It's doctor". Then he ignored me.... What an ass. My advice? Don't take his class!

this was the hardest class i have ever taken in my life! this man is so smart and expects every1 to understand what he is talking about.and hes not nice. i would not take him for a ger cuz its alot of work if you want to pass. somehow i got a b-
He is RUDE and MEAN and he lives in his own evil little world. Honestly, if hes here, whos running hell?
Skolbe was a very unclear prof. I found his examples to be unclear and unhelpfull. The class movies were horrible!!!!!!!Stupid class......
I started his class hating it, all the "if A's then B's" were killing me. But after a few weeks it all changed and was very interesting, He's clear and to the point. Smartest guy I ever met. One movie assigned was awesome, the other was so so, but he gives you a week off class to do it, easy grader
Not an easy class, movies were boring, midterm was hard, but final was easier...basically gave you the questions for the final, all you had to look up the answers in the book. All and all a nice guy, VERY smart. Didn't like the class, but that wasnt his fault...blame BSC for all the damn GER's!
Although I was not too interested in the class, he made it interesting. His passion for subject matter really made the class much more appealing. Only 4 grades all sem, but as long as you try your best you will do well. His examples are helpful and often very funny. The class turned out to be alot better than I expected, just don't take it @ 8am!
Throughout this course i learned a lot and was able to relate it to my life and just become more knowlegable and more open minded with quesitons about myself and the world.. His lectures definitely make you think and question your motives as well as others.. and its a good thing..
I took him for several Philosophy classes and he is one of my favories. Helpful as long as you participate in class and cool about attendance as long as you provide a reason/do the homework and have it in on time.

this teacher was the best, he was boring as hell but he just talked all class and slept. We had a debate that we made up as we went along and prob everyone got an A. He was GREAT.
very understanding teacher, and wants the class to do well. he does break down a hard subject into fairly simple terms(though the tests aren't). not a bad teacher at all.
It's not even the middle of the semester and he has missed 6 classes. He is extremely dry, uses examples of his wife; whom he hates, all the time. He isn't easy to comprehend, maybe it's just the course: reasoning and arguement. I suggest you find a professor who actually enjoys his/her job and take them, unless you want to fall into a coma.
We studied the matrix, the simpsons and some old movies. 4 units, 4 paper options but you only have to write 3 total. He genuinely wants the class to do well, some material is tricky but through a lot of discussion it helps to clarifty it. Very helpful, always available through e-mail, not a bad class.
good guy, puts it all on the table. test kinda shakey, but if you study your fine. only a midterm final and paper. but if you pay attention ask questions are a must...getting roughly a B!! do take
He's an aweful teacher, SO boring thinks he's funny and isn't, if you HAVE to take it, DON'T at 8am, you'll fall asleep, you have 2 tests n 1 paper, tests suck and are really hard, paper is easy, but you can't follow him when he gives notes...avoid him if you can!!
this guy is the man. he seems like a hardass at the beginning of the semester but he warms up. good for extra help, cool to talk to. the book sucked, but he knows everything so asking questions is a plus in that class. take this course... he's funny
Good class, goood teacher. He uses big words but if ur awake you can follow along just fine. Not much work.
Hes kind of a/an <explitive>. *naughty word. Or at least it seemed that way when you have him for an 8:00am class... Don't be late!!! However, I thought I was doing horrible all semester and it turns out I got a B range grade... Seems like a cool guy, just make sure you can be on time!
Hard class but if you participate in class, it may up your grade. Lots of info. and notes and lectures for the whole class. Overall good guy, if your willing to learn, he is willing to teach.
i'm a philosophy major, so i loved it. lots of reading (think 500 pg book in one weekend) but it's mostly fiction. it's a speaking intensive course however i wouldn't recommend it until you've taken comm130 yet. otherwise you'll be lost.
Best professor in the PL department! take him at least once! good way to end my stay at the college!
I had him for Pop Culture and Philosophy and I found it very interesting. He is a really nice guy. It was a speaking course so if you particapate in class and go to all of them then you can get a good grade.
Awful, not helpful, sarcastic, down grades students, and his courses are hard.
Aeon (AY-ON) is extremely passionate about his work, and if you pay attention he easily will draw you in like a good movie. If you miss classes, or leave early, this will greatly offend him, but otherwise he is very reasonable. You must understand a dry sense of humor to fully appriciate him.
Dr. Skoble is probably the best lecturer the Philosophy department has. He manages his class very efficiently and knows the material extremely well. I recommend his classes to anyone.
Clear and helpful
He's probably a fine teacher if you're a philosophy major or really interested in reading Plato, Aristotle and the like, but if you aren't interested or only vaguely interested AVOID THE CLASS. I would have avoided it if I had realized this is what it would be like. He mostly lectured at us, which left me feeling uninvolved and insanely bored.
skoble is great. i had him for plato and aristotle, and happiness and meaning. he's very clear and concise. he's a little intimidating but he's very nice and willing to help if you're confused.
Dr. Skoble is a very quirky man who loves both Plato and Aristotle far beyond the amount that any individual should, but it makes for a very entertaining class. He is extremely helpful and wants you to do well. His class is 'full of win.'
Ancient Greek Philosophy is one of Dr. Skoble's primary areas of interest. Watching him teach this class is like watching your favorite singer perform their biggest hit. He is all business in class, but not in a bad way. I would recommend this course to anyone with the slightest interest in Philosophy.
Horrible. He speaks above you; does not come done to your level. Picks out his favorites in class. So unless your a philosphy major you'll do fine having him as your professor. A lot of quizzes as well as hard tests. Uses book a lot. Waits and waits on you until you answer the question he has asked you. Critizes you when your wrong.
Philosophy of Film Noir may not sound exciting, but this guy makes it. He wrote many essays published in a book that you use for as text in class. He's really easy and the class is a really easy 1 credit colloquium. All we did was watch movies and discuss them. As for the 1 paper at the end, he walks with you through the entire process.
Dr. Skoble is honestly a very cool guy, and definitely brings his love of philosophy to work with him every day. As long as you do MOST of the reading you will ace his class. I took him for Plato and Aristotle and Philosophy of Law. Kind of guy you can call on his personal cell phone on a weekend cause you don't get something and he'll be stoked
This man loves philosophy. He's a great teacher. You definitely have to attend class and take notes on his lectures if you want an A. He stays on topic and speaks fast but he does repeat himself though, which is good for note taking. Hates noise, so class windows will be closed, which is tough if it's hot in the room.
Professor is very good. He loves what he does and cares about his students. Lectures can put you to sleep if you're not actively listening. Take notes and they will help you write his papers because you'll know exactly what he's looking for.
Prof. Skoble loves his job and it shows in his enthusiasm for the subject matter. Phil of Law was not the easiest material to grasp but he made it approachable. I took him again for ancient Phil. and I'm not a major. he grades fair so you get what you put in. If you don't actively engage the material and think about it, good luck.
Lectures are long but he makes it fun and interesting. I'd suggest him for anyone who cares about learning.
Honestly class is a snooze fest he lectures the whole time, you will probably fall asleep but one of the easiest A's. Really nice guy, knows what hes talking about, you will learn some stuff. He just needs to spice up his teaching style. Assigns alot of reading, noone ever does it and still gets an A. Everything is take home/openbook.
Too bad I'm graduating, Prof. Skoble is sa great professor, I'd re-do my major as Phil just to learn more from him.
The lectures are really boring, but he's very enthusiastic about what he's teaching. There's only a couple tests and they were all pretty difficult but he scales them.
Skoble is one of the crown jewels at Bridgewater State. He's an amazing off-the-cuff lecturer and knows his stuff. If you're not interested in philosophy, don't take his class. You have to have the passion for it to listen to someone talk without visuals. If you do like philosophy though - particularly the Greeks - he is THE MAN. Super witty too.
You have to have a real passion for philosophy. Tests are very difficult
Least demanding college course ever. No exams, 2 short papers & weekly replies about lectures (1 paragraph). Lectures are boring & he doesn't allow use of electronics. He takes attendance every class and warns not to miss class too much, even though you're not doing anything. Still, super easy. If not for my attendance, would've gotten a perfect A.
Professor Skoble is a great guy. i've taken two courses with him and got a B and an A-. He now uses powerpoint slides and doesn't give homework. just three exams, all multiple choice. usually 30-33 questions. The final is a mix of the first two exams so his lower level classes are easy A's now
Dr. Skoble is an excellent lecturer and works hard to ensure students are understanding the material and that it is engaging. He is very knowledgeable and answers questions very well. I found this course to be very interesting and his enthusiasm helped with that. He also has great ties.
Professor Skoble basically stands at the front of the class and rants, with an analysis about the chapter you read the night before. No Power Points and no concrete notes unless he is drawing out an example. The whole thing is by ear. He requires a paragraph by email each week in response to his weekly post in the class page. Two 2-3 page essays.
Professor Skoble is a truly gifted lecturer, he can explain complex ideas extremely well, he has a great personality, and really cares about the material. If you don't enjoy philosophy don't take this class.
Take this class for an easy A. Haven't even opened the textbook and the lectures are so detailed and basically common sense so you really don't need to take notes. Spent the entire semester doodling and still got an A. Really passionate about philosophy however and it is an interesting class.
I took Philosophy 151 course last semester. The class is 100% lectures and note taking with only three tests (two midterms and a final). The lectures were quite boring and with the tests being the only grades, it did get rather stressful. Take only if If you enjoy lectures and the subject, or if you absolutely need to take the course.
Skoble is one of my favorite profs in the Philosophy department, but I would only recommend his classes to Philosophy majors/minors. Have to pay attention in lecture and take clear notes if you want to pass the exams. He only grades on 2 exams and 2 quizzes which are all open response questions. I personally love his classes and learn a lot.
