Great prof who really cares about how his students are doing in his course. He'll answer all your questions no matter how stupid you think they are.
good prof..... help you with ne thing!!
Great prof! He genuinely cares for his students. Everyday before class he will check with students to see if anyone needs help with anything. His tests are easy and very, VERY straightforward, very basic questions. He is always happy and smiling and makes math bearable!
A great prof!! He is very nice and is always smiling! He explains things thoroughly and will help you with anything. He always asks before the beginning of class if you have questions or any problems. His notes are very organized and detailed but the wording may be confusing at times.
Math is my worst subject but I actually enjoyed his classes and did well. His notes are excellent, his explanations are great and he is very helpful.Doesn't mind having extra review classes.Always happy and very easy going. No surprises on his assignments or tests and he is a fair marker. I would definitely recommend him!
overall great proff excellent
great prof, cares about his students, and genuinely wants his students to perform well and grasp the material.awesoem...reccomend him 100%
Soloman was a great prof, he uses lots of example which is great and he makes sure that you know what is going on.
Brilliant Teacher, explains everything really well and many times. First test is easy, but seconds test and final are both a little harder. One of the best teachers at mun. Makes you feel welcome in his office.
Solomon is an excellent prof. his accent is very easy to pick up on. uses lots of examples, tests werent that hard, final really was brutal as are most math finals. i highly recomend him for this course
Afework is a great prof. He loves to give lots examples and explains the problems in many different ways and wants his students to do well. He gives lots of assignments but as long as you work you'll do fine. I recommend him to anyone.
He's very thorough....approachable and helpful...I liked him as a prof
I would definitely recommend taking the course with Solomon. He is very helpful and understanding. His assignments are difficult and long, but if you do them they prepare you well for the tests. However, be aware that his tests and final are also long. Just do three things: Study hard, do the assignments, and know the final topics really well.
Very good prof. Very clear and explains things well. Can be funny at times. Assignments and tests are tough, but they prepare you well for the final.
His notes are very good and he gives lots of examples. His assignments cover all the material and prepare you very well for the tests.
very fair prof when it comes to grading and deadlines. He also provides answer keys to everything you do throughout the eyar which is really helpful. However soemtimes his notesx are a little hard to follow and he like to cover alot of very important material in a short period of time, which makes it difficult to undrstand sometimes.
How does this prof have a good rating?! Most frustrating course I've ever taken, mostly because of the prof (because the course isn't hard) His notes are crap and he's pretty monotone
I disagree with the previous comment in which Solomon is monotone because he is always saying something is "absurd!" hah. His notes can be a bit confusing but the textbook is no better. The assignments are fair and he is approachable and helpful. His tests are fair and he gives out sample tests to study which really help.
I love Solomon! He is such a nice guy, and such a fantastic prof. Like someone else said, he is always saying things are "absurd" and patting the top of his head when he gets confused. Super helpful and supportive one-on-one, no surprises on tests. Best prof ever!

Good prof. He marks fair, gives lots of good examples, prepares you well for the tests and final. His accent is a little thick but nobody should ever have any problems with this guy.
GREAT PROF, great notes and fair tests and assignments. He cares for his students also. Can be funny at times.
Quite possibly the best prof in the math department. Teaches very well and VERY helpful during office hours. On that note, he's in his office 6-8 hours a week, which is great. He even helped me with one of my 2320 problems one day a few weeks back. I bought him a christmas present and everything, he's just incredible. If you have a choice, get him!
Great prof, really helpful, great guy, easy to talk to and ask questions to outside the class. I really recommend getting in this guy's class.
He is good with everything except that in the beginning classes, he used the slide which is totally hard to follow, so if you are about to study with him, tell him to use white board.
Definately the best prof I have. Very very helpful and writes EVERYTHING on the board. If you go to class and follow and take the notes, there's no way you won't do well. :)
Excellent prof. Wants to make sure everyone understands and asks the students if they understand. Slight accent but no problem at all understanding. Sometimes he didn't understand students questions but that was minor. Assignments are tough, 9 worth a total of 10%. Tests were very fair with nothing out of the ordinary. Pretty funny too.
LOVE this prof! He is so nice! He always has time for his students and his notes are incredibly helpful! I would recommend his evening class to anyone and everyone!
Great Prof., I had him for Math 1001 and Math 2000.I find math courses very hard, but he is one of the best to teach it. His notes are very good, and testes are very fair. Also he is very good to his students, and if you attend all the Labs he will bring your mark up. Recommend him.
Good prof, hard class but he's one of the best.
Worst Professor EVER! I read the comments on here and based on that I felt it would have been an easy A if I worked hard enough. He SUCKS! I had him for 1050, passed 1051 with an A and then did his class 1050 and did terrible! He doesnt know how to make his students understand the concepts of what he is trying to explain. Avoid him at all cost!
This was a really tough course, however I don't think I would have gotten through it if it weren't for this prof. Assignments were 100% a reflection of the tests as well as the final. Prof also gave review sessions before each test, which was also extremely helpful.
He's a really nice guy, but I can't follow his teaching at all :( other people I know in his class are also struggling. I have to pay 20$ a week for John orielys (sp?) toutering sessions so I can keep up with what's going on. He posts assignments online, but there's no due date on them, so a lot of people end up not doing them. I chose him because of all of the great comments, but he's definitely not the prof for everyone. :(
He is nice and means well, but the teaching is very unclear. Writes notes on the board and puts them on d2l, but waits to do so like the night before the test.. makes lectures boring but is very willing to help if you go to his Office. Not your best choice but you could get by.
Bad prof
This prof is a nice person, but a terrible prof!!!
Hated this prof, hated the class. So hard to understand him and I found that there was stuff on the final that was never touched on in class.
Bad Prof, Can't understand him and when I asked a question one time he made me feel foolish and like he had no time for students. John O'Rielly is the only thing getting me through!
Bad prof! Accent is too thick to understand. Class is very dry and he doesn't seem to care whether or not the class is understanding what's going on. Only reason i took him was because it fit my schedule. Avoid if at all possible.
Awesome prof! Had him for vector calculus. You can tell that he has a passion for the subject, he gets so excited in class that he has to wipe the sweat off his forehead while he's running around the board writing. He's super nice and loves to help students understand the material. Definitely one of the best math professors in the department
If you get over the fact he has a thick accent and is sometimes hard to understand u will manage. However he does problems a lot harder than necessary. He is also somewhat funny and finds things "absurd".
I liked him, he was great and hilarious. The class is hard. Sit up front and you'll enjoy. Work hard and go to the math help center. Visit jerry!
Very friendly, approachable, funny man. Very helpful if you go to him. His examples in class seem easy to understand but when you get to the assigments, theyre not so great. His assignments are much harder than his examples and I find he does things with very weird and different processes. Great Person! Not a fantastic prof.
he is a nice guy and really genourus when it comes to assingments however i think he teachs too fast
Professor solomon is a sweet man, i went his office several times and he was the very polite and helpful. He truly wants all of his students to do well and does not mind and even encourages people to ask questions. can sometime be confusing however overall great prof
Loves how when the class is talking he taps his chalk and says quiet, quiet please.
Such a nice person! I really enjoyed his classes. He'd make the room roar with laughter sometimes with the silly stuff he'd say, but most times he was pretty serious about math. Didn't like how he taught though.
Great guy, really smart but he's not always easy to understand and he makes certain things sound more complicated then what they really are.
Examples are good, study them for tests. Besides that, meh. Helpful at least!
Really knows what he is talking about. And gives great examples. But has a think accent so it's best if you pay attention
Good prof, helpful if you go to his office and really cares. Has different methods of doing things but recommended. His eraser is awesome
Dr. Soloman was a good prof. He used lots of examples until everyone understood the concepts. It is tough at first to understand Dr. Soloman, as he does have an accent, but you learn to understand what he is saying after a while. He makes good notes on the board though, so even if you don't understand him speaking, you can read the notes.
Really great guy but makes thing overly complicated. He think he's explaining himself well but really just relies on examples. He is very willing to answer any questions you may have and really does want you to do well. This being said you have to teach yourself most of this course...
I don't even know where to start with Dr.Soloman. Such a nice man and genuinely cares about his students. If you have a question go up and ask after class or during office hours he will make it crystal clear. Assignments were difficult however, prepared you very much so for tests and the final which were all quite challenging. Highly recommended.
Nice person. I think he was not very adept in the course material, but tried his best to make it clear. Fall 2011 there were 8 homework each about 10 questions. Two tests which were based on the homework mostly, and the final again based on homework. Overall it's easy to ace the course as the material on tests are predictable. He is helpful too
Can't believe I forgot to rate this professor. I seen him today and he has been by far my favorite professor at MUN (and I've had a lot of really, really great professors). He is very funny and endearing and his assignments are the Bible. They make take you 10 hours to do at times, but you will understand the course afterward. Use math help center.
Solomon is an unreal professor, his notes are essentially the textbook but more suited to his assignments and tests. Literally, his assignment questions are 95% from his notes. Study those and the text examples, and redo his assignments for the final. He's a funny guy who's very helpful. (P.S. his hat, that is all.)
Great Teacher! His assignments were a little tricky, other than that I loved him!
Extremely helpful and gives excellent notes. His assignments can be long, but if you go see him he will help you through it and check over your answers. Understand the assignments and his examples and you should have no trouble writing his tests or the exam.
Dr. Solomon is one of the best math professors I have had yet! He is clear and consistent with his notes and tries his best to ensure that everybody understands the concepts before moving on to other material. His assignments are relevant and are a true complement to the midterms and final exam. He is also extremely helpful during office hours.
There is nothing bad to say about Solomon. He gives good notes with good examples. Do the assignments and review the notes and you'll be fine for the tests.
Horrible. Talks to himself more so than to the class, miscalculates things in examples leaving you to wonder why they do not work later on while reviewing. Examples in class are never like questions on assignments. Hard to talk to due to the fact it is like he do not understand what you are saying. Avoid at all costs, I wish I did!
Funny prof and excellent to listen to. Makes class less boring with humor. Sometimes what he says is not very clear due to his accent. Solomon does not mark his own assignments and grades from the assignments are marked HARD, friends and I pass in similar work with huge differences in grades. Often over complicates very simple concepts.
Solomon was a good natured man and he did genuinely seem to care if his class did well or not, but yet I found it very difficult to learn from him based on his teachings. His notes were never all that clear but it seemed to get even worse as the semester dragged on. Maybe being in a class of 300+ effected my impression but I would not recommend
The assignments are challenging but fair. The test questions are very similar but easier than assignments. His accent isn't horrible and he tried his best to talk slow and clear and will repeat anything if asked. Notes were very organized and full of examples. Very helpful outside of class as well.
Solomon is a great guy really cares about his students and how they perform in his class. Assignments are a little long but not too challenging. The best part about Solomon is his practice midterms vary only slightly from the real thing.
His assignments are kind of long with a little challenge. His tests are almost the same as the practice ones he posts. He's very nice and helpful, and does not mind going over something again briefly in class or helping out outside of class. I did find however sometimes he tends to over complicate things.
Guy is a legend. By far one of the best math profs at MUN.
He's an alright prof, nothing special. His assignments were very challenging, sometimes took hours and even days to complete. However, his notes are awesome and his tests are fair. He does a lot of examples and he always makes sure everyone understands. Bit of an odd character sometimes but he'll make you chuckle.
Assignments are challenging and sometimes take hours to complete. His tests are identical (changing some numbers) to the practice tests he posts. Overall, a good prof.
Solomon is a great prof, at first he is kinda hard to understand but throughout the course his accent becomes alot more understandable, he is very helpful if you go to his office during office hours with questions he will help & after exams he will go over yours with you if you ask. i highly reccomend Math 1090 with Solomon.
Absolutely the worst prof EVER! His tests are way to hard and if the whole class does bad, he still does't give a make up test. He skips so many steps in his examples which makes things very confusing. He is not approachable at all. If you don't understand a question he won't even explain it to you and makes you feel stupid. Avoid at all costs!
It takes a little while to get used to his accent but that's probably the only bad thing I have to say about him. The assignments are kind of long but if you do them with friends it makes it easier. He is also always more than willing to help you if you need it
Very nice man. Offers many examples, but it's very different from the way my friends and I learned in highschool. Overall though, very friendly, Get assignments back the next week. There are assignments due every Wednesday.. So you will e spending some time at math help centers...
Nice guy, and willing to help. You'll get used to his accent quickly. Always smiling, he encourages the class to speak up to answer or pose questions. Assignments are take a bit of time and come pretty frequently (1week), but are very good for grounding yourself in the subject.
Terrible clarity, the assignments are brutal, and half the time he doesn't know what he's talking about. I've seen students going from 90s in high school to 20s and 30s in his class, his teaching assistants are also bad because you could have the same assignment as someone else and there can be a 20 mark difference. DO NOT RECOMMEND
I found him to be un-interested in the class and spent the entire class facing the chalk board. His assignments are hard. However, his tests seem to always be a little harder. Although he tries, if a student asks a question, concise responses from him are few and far between. Failures are commonplace. Avoid this prof if you wish to do well.
Great prof, sometimes a little unclear in class but not bad at all, his accent is also easy to understand. Practice tests and actual tests that he gives are basically the same. Also helps you a bunch if you go to his office. Would definitely recommend this prof for any math course he teaches.
first midterm is horrific
Can sometimes be unclear in class but is very helpful if you go and meet with him. A lot of assignments but he often gives answers in class if you ask him to. Tests and assignments are hard are going to be hard if you skip class. Practice tests are almost identical to the actual tests he gives.
It was obvious that Solomon loved teaching math 1000. Very thorough examples. Assignments are difficult, but fair and helped to prepare for his tests and final. He also added a bit of humour to his lectures.
Very hard to understand in class, gives a weekly assignment and doesn't give examples that are anywhere near the difficulty he puts on them. Will do part of the assignment on the board if asked though. Find a tutor or be ready to work hard in order to pass.
I took Solomon for 1090 and I found it hard to keep up and understand everything he was saying. It isn't that hard of a course if you focus on it and get help. There is help available if you need it. I went to see him after each of my midterms and asked him to go over it with me and he explained where I went wrong and helped a lot.
Best prof ever!
Solomon was very confusing, and the notes he provided in class were useless for accomplishing the assignments. He was no help, and attending class only made me confused. Thanks to my tutor, I'll be able to pass this course. If you aren't willing to get a tutor, don't bother with this prof.
This course covers a lot of material and its easy to get behind if you miss classes. Assignments are tough but help prepare you for the tests.
He ist just amazing. He's really inspirational and he uses a lot of humor. Sometimes his assignments are a bit long but they're great and they really let you practise what you have to know for the final exam. If you need any help you can go to his office at any time. He will always have time to help you, even when it's not his office hours.
He wasn't very clear, didn't explain what he was doing in his example. He expects you to already know what he's treaching but He wants problems done his way, I went to the math help center and a tutor with one of his assignments and still failed. Friendly to talk to outside of class but probably shouldn't be teaching first year courses.
His notes were horrible, and barely had anything to do with the assignments. The only good thing about him was that he made the assignment questions like the questions we got on the testsfinal. I got 80s in math in high school and failed math 1090 miserably with Solomon. Also doesn't use D2L so if you miss class you're screwed.
Literally could not be more unclear. Notes made zero sense and had a lot of mistakes. Terrible at explaining new things and assumes everyone has done physics.. Go to class, I went and still didn't pass. Tests are extremely difficult and so are assignment which take forever to complete. Does not like to listen to students.
Don't take a course with this prof if you can avoid it. He is very hard to understand and I didn't find his notes were very structured. His assignments are also really long and they don't even mark every question on them which is annoying.
Very helpful if approached outside of class. During finals week he spent an hour and a half going over one topic with me to ensure I was prepared for the final.
You need to go to class in order to pass
Overall, I think the prof is very helpful and he cares about the student. As long as u attempt at the homework, he will give u marks for it. If u attend class and do the homework, it is not hard to get an A. I would definitely recommend this prof to everyone.
Does not post any online information and often makes mistakes when writing on the board. Over complicates simple material and makes course harder than it needs to be.
Although, many students tend to give Solomon negative ratings, I personally really like him and would recommend him to any student taking 1090. He knows what he's doing and provides very good lectures. Notes are always posted online. He has an accent yet is still understandable and will help you whenever asked. If you have the option, take him!
Has an accent, but is still easy to understand. He is willing to help and answer any questions after class. Assignments are not overly difficult. All and all he is a good prof.
Doesn't post anything on D2L and very unclear about what chapters are to be on the midterms. Notes are great but he doesn't teach well. Doesn't respond to emails and can be hard to understand sometimes. Answers questions when asked though! Helps with the weekly assignments in class if need be.
This class is a real struggle
Horrible. I'm failing the course and I was top in math in highschool. If you can avoid taking Solomon, I would highly recommend it.
can not understand his accent, often makes many mistakes himself while working out problems which is no help to the students. changes topics very quickly and skips almost all steps required to figure out a problem and skips to the answer causing confusion to the student about how to do the problem.
Love Afework! He's so sweet. He's a little unclear, but so happy to speak with you. He's an amazing prof.
His accent makes him a little unclear at times but he is a great prof. If you have any questions he is happy to answer. His tests are just like the samples he gives but his assignments can get a little tricky.
He's the man. Tests are fair and notes are good.
Assigns long papers - long assignments and tests Horrible, horrible prof. Found this the hardest course I have ever done and just couldn't pick any sense out of everything he was saying. Doesn't teach, just fills in the notes himself almost like it's for fun. Get any other prof you can.
My advice would be if you are stuck with him as a prof for math, attend John O'reily tutorials. Honestly the only way I got a good mark. I found Afework skipped too many steps which lead to a lot of confusion. He is a very nice man when you talk to him but his methods of teaching was very hard to understand. I spent so much on tutors...
Solomon is a nice guy, but he doesn't know how to teach. He just fills in notes on the boards, and solves problems. His accent sometimes makes him hard to understand, and his assignments are very long. I don't recommend this prof.
so I passed the course but I should be honest with you and say that his classes are boring and not helpful. Assighnments are complicated. I can advice him only if you do really understand math techniques
Do not take his class. Please take my word of advice and if at all possible you can take another professor for this course, do it, unless you are very skilled in mathematics and can teach the material to yourself. Also in the huge lecture hall, this course is not enjoyable and very hard to learn the material.
University level math is never easy but he makes it a lot easier by being approachable and open to questions.
Sometime's during the lecture, he is hard to understand and follow but if you have questions he is always willing to stay in his office longer to help. He is a very fair marker, he gives you part marks on almost everything. I have taken Solomon for a few courses and I will continue to do so!!
People told me to stay away from Solomon but I've had a great experience with him and 2050. He's kind and goes at a slow pace and everything was clear. Midterms were very long (not hard) but also very similar to the sample exam he posted online. Would want to have him again as a prof!!
Amazing prof, highly recommend very nice and approachable. Sometimes his accent is a little thick but other then that a very nice respectable prof. Tests were easy, and gave us the previous semesters final to prepare for ours.
Really do not understand these poor ratings. I'd jump at the opportunity to take him in future courses. Nice guy too, super approachable compared to some profs. Doesn't use the text either which is always a plus.
Solomon is so great! He's really friendly, funny and smart. I really enjoyed this course, and enjoyed how he taught it. I've heard people complain about him before, but I personally think he's a really great prof. The assignments can be long, but their fair. He's also a fair grader, gives fair tests, great notes, and keeps you interested!
Very good prof, would recommended.
All around great person. Cares for his students. Ask anyone who's taken him and they'll tell you about his "interesting questions" (be ready to think xD). His office is always open outside of his teaching/lunch hours to help students with any materials. He even gives you the solutions to a problematic assgn. questions. He wants people to succeed.
He is a great Professor, was clear, make a difficult class seems easy, I will definitely recommend him and will take more classes if I have the chance.
I have had Solomon for quite a few math courses now: 1090, 1001, 2050, and 2000. He's a pretty average prof when it comes to teaching and getting concepts across. But for me, his personality and kindness makes his lectures enjoyable. Also, very approachable outside of class if you don't understand certain topics. Genuinely a nice person
absolutely love this prof. He gives great feedback, is easy to listen to and you can tell he genuinely cares for his student. Changing my schedule around so I can take more of his classes in the future
Professor Solomon is one of the best Math professors at MUN, he is clear, well organized, very helpful if you have questions or need a hint for the homework. Course itself is hard and very demanding, be prepared to work very hard and do all the homework.
If you are doing a math degree and want to be challenged, he is your man. I had him for 2320 and 2000, and I was always in his office for extra help ( which he is always happy to give). Very, very tough assignments and tests but will always help you. Be prepared for a lot of late nights. ( I found 2320 harder than 2000 with him)
He is so funny and takes his time explaining problems. He is always open to questions about the material. Assignment every week but they usually are not that hard. Tests on what he teaches, no surprises. Overall a very kind man and always willing to help. He wants his students to succeed!
Solomon is the best math proof I have ever had. I'm majoring in math so I've had my pick of the litter, and out of all of them he really tries to help you understand. If you have a question he will explain it over and over until you fully get it. Even for a hard course like Math 2000 hes great .
Soloman is a really solid choice for a math prof. I really enjoyed his course, and you can tell that he cares a lot for his students and their success. Very accessible and always open to questions. Assignments mirror tests, so there weren't any surprises there. Overall a really good prof.
Probably your best bet for a Math 1001 teacher. A genuinely caring prof that gets the material across effectively. Definitely go to all lectures, as he puts up notes without answers so you have to fill them in yourself. I don't really like this course but it definitely wasn't his fault; he's a really good prof.
He cares a lot about his students, he wants to see everyone do well, his lectures are great. He is easy to understand and is concise with his notes. This being said, he is know for particularly difficult midterms, so are sure you really know your stuff.
Wonderful man, very easy to talk to and will answer any question you have. That being said, there is an assignment every week and they're ridiculously hard. Does a few examples in class and puts questions on the assignments that you have never seen before and more than likely won't know how to do unless you really know your stuff.
Very though grader.
Easy grading
Lots of work and practice required. He gives excellent notes and lectures, always very detailed. His assignments are challenging, although he is always available outside class and will answer and help with any questions for as much time as needed.
He is a great professor. The course was a little challenging for me but he helped a lot. He puts his notes online which also helps a lot as you can just print them out and don't have to write extensively in class. One thing I didn't like about him was the pace of the course sometimes he went really fast and some topics he stretched for days.
A great teacher if you pay attention to the lectures, is generally a very caring guy and extremely approachable. One of the nicest profs Ive had.
He is a professor that cares tremendously about how you are doing in his class, his tests are very fair, his teaching is extremely thorough and if you ever have any questions about anything he is happy to help!
Had to drop his 1001 class, could not understand what he was saying, went much too fast with notes and didnt seem to have time to help anyone outside of class.
You won't pick up marks unless you follow his exact style
Not recommended
Solomon is very passionate about math, and you can tell in how he takes the time to do every step of a problem so that we better understand. Any criticisms I had this year were of the course itself, and not the prof. This is a really tough course, but Solomon makes it possible.
Solomon is a very caring man, very intelligent and passionate about teaching. My only complaint is that where this is a really difficult course, he could've spent more time on certain topics and made his tests more like the examples we do in class. Overall he is a great prof and I would definitely take him again.
Extremely good professor. You must attend his lectures as he leaves gaps in his notes. Otherwise he's great. Will explain again and again unless you grasp the matter. Would highly recommend him for MATH 1000. Not hard to get an A , if you are sincere throughout the course.
This prof is awesome yet he does not upload lecture capture recordings so you need to attend his classes and has a very friendly nature for a student to feel comfortable in asking any doubts.
Trying to get in touch with him outside of class was tough he only had a few office hours and it was difficult to get in touch with him any other way. Took a long time to answer emails and wasn't particularly helpful. His notes are good but he doesn't post anything online so if you miss a class you will fall behind plus tests were heavily weighted.
The course was a bit tough, but Professor Solomon made it a lot easier. His notes were great, and he made sure to go through examples thoroughly in class. Really helpful during office hours as well, so go see him if you have questions about assignments! I made sure to take him again for Math 2000 this semester!!
He is a good professor but he goes too fast with the topics, expect to finish a lot of material in one class and if missed a single class the next one will be a nightmare. Also the questions covered in class are not good practice for the assignment or any of the tests. However, one good thing is that he posts his notes online so only have to copy.
One of the best Math profs i have seen so far, he is really good and walks you step by step. he is a good grader too & he gives you good hints before exams. The only thing i don't like is if you missed classes, it's very hard to get the notes and he doesn't post the full notes online.
Excellent professor, however, he really tries to challenge you during examinations. Know your stuff inside and out going into the midterms and finals, and you'll be fine
Dont miss classes. And do his assignments problems.
Awesome prof! Caring and always available. It's calculus so skipping a class isn't suggested. I prefer him over most other profs in mathematics and yes, would def take him again!
Professor Solomon is one of the best profs I've had at MUN. He's super nice and really cares about his students; if you need help with assignments, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, it helps a lot considering the assignments are tough. Make sure you go to class; his notes are great, but he doesn't post them online.
He is one of the best Prof's in Math Dept. You can always access him even without the office hours and is very helpful. Very approachable. He will do everything to make you understand and his notes are amazing. Exams are a bit tricky but he marks fairly.
Posts assignments online with no warning, won't even be up for a week and once the date passes you can't change it. Also difficult to understand, his accent is very thick so some information doesn't get understood at all.
He really does try his best, and he is a nice man. His accent does make it slightly harder to follow and his notes aren't online either so class is required. He often teaches simpler sample problems compared to ones given on assignment and tests.
Goes way too fast. Notes are not posted online therefore class is mandatory. Part marks are very rarely rewarded.
I am currently taking Solomon for math 1090, and while it is sometimes difficult to understand what he is saying with his thick accent he is very helpful! He is almost always in his office and will help you whenever you need it! He is really great one on one and will always make sure you understand what is going on. Friendly, funny and kind person!
If you enjoy math he is an excellent prof. If you go to his office he will explain any question in detail as long as you have attempted it.
Seems like a nice guy, he really cares which is very refreshing! Makes classic dad jokes so classes are not tense. He gives great practice and it is easy to predict what is on the test! His assignments are your best friend!
This guy makes a difficult course enjoyable. He is hilarious and such a sweet man. His notes are great but not posted online so if you miss class you must go to his office hours. Assignments are difficult for practice reasons, but tests are extremely short & easy & very predictable. MUN is lucky to have this man, he truly brightens my day.
Solomon is super sweet! No prof is perfect and hes got his flaws, but hes still a solid choice. He provides really good notes and lots of examples. He also has lots of worksheets, assignments, etc available for practice. (Only issue is that he has a habit of brushing over confusing topics and spending too much time on the simpler things.)
Notes are not online. Accent makes notes hard to follow. Spends very very little time on the hard material. Sample questions in class are nothing like whats given on the tests, which are pretty horrible to do given he doesnt show how to do those questions. Hes sweet but as a teacher I cant go it.
I loved Soloman all term but his exam was TERRIBLE. We were told to practice with old exams, and our actual exam was nothing like them. 13 questions on the old exams, 18 on ours, nobody finished it. I guess that's just a reflection of math 1090 itself because every class had the same exam. Oh well, he's okay.
Very nice professor, gave great in class notes and examples. Was always looking to give extra marks if you went to see him about tests.
I would 10/10 recommend solomon. You have to go to class and pay attention to get the notes as the ones he posts online have blanks. Overall a very fair grader and tester. We had weekly assignemts that were much tougher then the exams. Always willing to give extra marks if you go to see him about tests.
To many assignment I mean he gives an assignment every good damn week. What are we in highschool.
Dr. Soloman is a very caring prof and really wants his students to succeed. He is very helpful if you go to him during his office hours, as he will help you in any way he can with assignments.
Lectures are dry. Tests are ok. Is an ok grader. Make sure you do extra work as this course takes practice if you want to be good at it.
I'm super bad at math anyways so my mark doesn't completely reflect on him. He's a very nice person but I found him very difficult to understand with his accent. His final exam was pretty long and a lot of students didn't finish it.
I would recommend Solomon to anyone, he's a solid choice but i wouldn't choose him again if i had the option to. He is happy to help you in any way but he is not the greatest at explaining abstract topics, possibly due to his foreign accent/language background. Very sweet man who is always smiling and loves his job. Does not do lecture capture.
One of my favorite profs. Solomon's always smiling and he's hilarious without trying to be. Had him for 1001. He gives A LOT of assignments, but they were pretty much the only practice I did besides night-before-test review, so I was actually thankful for them. He uploads his notes online but they're not filled out so skipping lectures isn't wise.
Good notes.
Mr. Solomon's lectures can be slow at times, but when the material is being taught, he is able to teach it well. He is a solid choice for this course. He is also helpful if you visit his office hours.
There are weekly quizzes (very short and doable), one midterm, and a final. His accent is an obstacle for me to watch the recorded lectures but it seems like others are fine with it. However, reading his notes is enough for me to do pretty well in the course. All materials are well-organized. My only complaint is the final is 60% of the grade.
Professor Solomon is a good prof, he always answered my emails quickly and would go out of his way to help me despite how hard this semester has been online. He will meet with students to help further explain topics outside of class hours. His quizzes are fair and he's very understanding.
Solomon is by far the most wholesome and sweet prof I have had at MUN so far. Can tell he genuinely cares about his students, excellent notes, well taught lectures. Always smiling and happy, which is what makes his lectures so enjoyable. If you're looking to enjoy calculus, Solomon is your answer. Had him for 1001 and 2000
Took math 1001 in the fall 2020 semester online and regretted it. Lectures are very long, all at least an hour, sometimes more, and dry. They were also unlabeled, so going back to re-watch or find a lecture on a specific topic is a pain. Weekly quizzes and WebAssign. Midterm worth 25%. Final exam worth 60% was very difficult. Would not take again.
I took Prof. Solomon's class during the 2020 Fall online semester. He seems like a very kind person, but I didn't feel that he adjusted very well to online teaching. Lectures were super long, and the midterm (20%) and final (60%) were quite difficult. I went from a 98 in my high school's equivalent of M1000 to a 75 in M1001. A challenge for sure.
His lectures were videos of him doing problems with little to no explanation on how to do them. The final was a lot harder than the rest of the evaluation. I did not find emailing him to be helpful because his responses were never clear. Hard to tell if that's the way he is or because of his English.
The professor to teach Math2000 ever. He skips so many steps and does not explain his work at all. Good for Math1000 or 1001 because they're easy, but DO NOT take with him Math2000. Has good notes. His lectures, explanation, and proof make no sense. If you take Math2000 with him its going to be a self-taught course. Bad.
I haven't finished this class yet so I'll add another review at that time, but thus far he is an amusing professor (in his online lectures) and seems to want students to succeed and explains (if you pay attention). The material is a little different from 1000 and 1001, so expect to have to work extra to learn it. This is normal for maths classes.
As someone who has never gotten below a B+ in math with all my other teachers, I have never been more confused when it comes to his teaching. He hardly replies to emails, except when he has to tell you you're at fault and will be penalized (which in all cases, he was wrong). I had to teach myself EVERYTHING I learned. His tests are super long.
Do yourself a favour and don't take his class. His exams were unfair and his explanations unclear. Coming from someone who has never had a problem with math, this was the worst prof I've ever encountered. I am a solid A student. It was the first time I felt like I was legit going to fail his class. It is a miracle I have passed.
Lect. Solomon's notes are very clear and he explains well. His homework prepares u well for weekly quizzes. I took this course in Winter21 & the mid was neither difficult nor easy. But, the final exam was a bit difficult. But if you watch/attend his lectures, go through the notes and practice the sums(in homework, notes, etc), u'll get a good grade!
Doesn't reply to email at all. Rumbles over concepts... Tests are super long and not willing to give good marks
This is a difficult class. Expect to struggle. This is regardless of the professor. When I reached out, he was happy to meet over zoom outside of office hours. Happy to explain things he already explained. And happy to tell me a bit about his own research when asked. A pleasant teacher. Frustration over the material is normal!!
He is a good guy. the course is hard but he knows what hes doing. his writing is good and his english is good
Afework made my first year in university a good one math wise. He will go out of his way to help you with assignments during online rooms and most of the time does the question for you. He does many, many examples in his notes of the materials, and if you pay attention and study the notes, you will do good. Practice midterms are ALOT like the real.
I think Solomon has been an incredible prof. He explains very well, his accent isn't too tough to understand, and his extra help sessions are so beneficial. Only downside to his lectures would be the technical errors, or sometimes he forgets to move the paper into view, however in person this wouldn't be an issue. 10/10 prof in my opinion.
Solomon is an absolute gem. This is a tough course, but his explanations are quite helpful. I spent an hour in a help session asking constant questions, and he was willing to explain however many times I needed, and explained well. His practice midterms/finals are also amazing for exam prep. I hope I can have him as a professor again soon.
Unfortunately for Solomon, he just cant teach. He continues to ramble on in lectures, and puts homework in all different places making stuff unorganized. Hes super hard to get ahold of for help, and the exams are very unreasonably long. Stay clear!!!! If youre taking math 1001, take my advice. Stay clear of him at all costs.
Amazing professor and I loved every lecture. Hard course, as expected, but he made it a lot easier.
Solomon is a friendly prof and will lend a hand if you reach out to him. That being said, without doing additional things such as this, the class will be a a struggle. If you're coming at his course from highschool math, find a new prof, he really assumes a lot of previous knowledge. Definitely attend his office hours, he will walk you through.
Prof Solomon is really nice. I have him online so it makes understanding the material harder than it should be, but he tries to make it easy to understand. There are assignments due each week and there are usually homework questions each week as well, all graded and put towards your mark. Overall great guy.
So glad I got to take a course with Solomon. So great at explaining things, gives lots of examples, gives so much practice material and is so helpful in his office hours.
Solomon is a lovely prof. Hes kind, and takes his time when explaining everything, even going over little things that may seem like common sense. His assignments are fair, as are his tests, and just doing those and the practice alone are enough to do well in a course with him.
Professor Solomon made me remember how much I love math. Good lecture notes and covers a lot of examples in class. His English is good and I never had an issue with his accent. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, he was super helpful and would bend over backwards to make sure you understood the questions. Overall, Solomon is a real gem and a solid pick.
Professor Soloman is a solid choice. Really great guy and is quite the character. He is super smart and sometimes doesn't explain how he solves his questions but if you attend his office hour he will guid you through all assignments and answer any questions.
Solomon was an awesome professor and I would gladly take a class with him again. At the begging of the term his rate my professor was very low and I was concerned I would not pass. But now I am wondering why they were so low as he is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He explains everything well and wants you to do well in his course.
By far the best prof I had this semester. Math 1001 was a hard course, but Solomon teaches it so well that it feels a lot easier than it actually is. You'll need to put in the work, but if you go to all his lectures/office hours and practice the problems he does you'll have no trouble with the assignments/exams. I also like his accent.
The only reason I passed the course! Definitely, a difficult course but Solomon makes it a lot easier. His lectures prepare you well and he offers lots of reviews. His office hours are extremely helpful for the weekly assignments, and his midterm tests and final were very fair!
I'm 100% glad I had Afework as my prof for this course. Even though the course is definitely difficult, he was quite clear as to what students must know and provides excellent feedback to his students for their assignments/tests. Afework is a gem.
Soloman isn't the worst math prof. His accent is thick, but at least his hand writing is tidy. His tests are very long for the amount of time given. You don't have much time to think about what you're doing, and 85% of your grade is based on the tests. I knew a few other people in my class, and none of us were able to pass any of his tests.
Very helpful, did badly on a midterm and he walked me through what happened outside of class. Ended up boosting my grade a ton!
This professor gives assignments every week. Each week is loaded with materials that other professors would take atleast 2 or 3 weeks to cover. Lectures are nightmare, goes really fast and very difficult to understand. Notes are good, but overall I would avoid this prof if possible.
His notes are similar to what a high school teacher would provide, which makes for an easier adjustment in a first year course. He explains his concepts well, and although he provides a heavy amount of homework, it prepares you very well for exams. The assignments were identical to the midterm.
Has a contagious passion for the material. Extremely helpful and always available to provide additional assistance
Dr Soloman is very nice and caring but the lectures were very long and dry as well as somewhat unorganized. He is a great prof but could improve technology wise.
He has amazing notes and they alone could get you through the course without him having to say a word. His grading is quite fair on exams, but sometimes he isn't on the assessments. Other than that, I have 0 complaints. Dude has a passion for the subject, though he teaches differently depending on the course you take with him so be weary of that.
I took a few classes with him. Best prof ever. Super kind- I still recite his motivational quotes to myself all the time. Wears slippers in the math building; shuffling between the coffee machine and the ceiling-high stacks of disorganized looseleaf his office. He would pull out a sheet from the closest pile to write notes for you. Cutest lil guy
Solomon is a great prof, he is soooooo nice. but the course so difficult :(
Solomon is a good prof, but personally does not work that well for my learning style. The only hope I have for passing is separate tutorials. A very tough course but as far as math profs go he's one of the better ones. Be prepared to work, and do not be afraid to get extra help if you need it. Good luck!
Dr. Solomon was a great professor. His lectures are thorough and easy to listen to (he has a wonderful accent), and he was a fair grader, though his exams were very long. While he was very approachable in person, he can come across as quite rude over email (I believe it's a language barrier), so I'd recommend bringing any concerns to him in person.
Mr. Solomon's lectures are amazing. the problems he chooses to do are great and really make you prepared for the tests. The only issue i would say is the midterms, they are too short compared to the final exam. They were 50 minutes each and the final was 2 and a half ours, they were a different class of tests. He records the lectures
Math 1001 is a really hard class but Solomon was really good. Lectures were amazing, problems he did were always very close to the assignments and tests, and graded very fairly. Great math prof I'd have again.
Assignments may seem hard but exams were easy.
The assignments are pretty hard but the midterm is almost identical to the practice he provides. The final is much harder but I'm not sure he makes it or its department provided. I have emailed him multiple times & he has never answered-so if you have questions talk to him in person. Overall a great teacher and person.
Dr Solomon is great for someone who isn't great at math. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to perform to their highest potential. There's no such thing as a bad question. He is a great professor
Dr. Solomon was a great professor! He truly cares about the success of his students. Although assignments were slightly difficult, the practice midterms were almost identical to the actual exam. I've emailed him quite a few times with no response, but going to see him in person is extremely beneficial if you need help.
Found to be inaccessible, as well he will not tolerate any need for a time change. Assignments were more difficult then needed to be.
Heard amazing things about this prof, but disliked him when taking his class. He would talk about things in class as if we knew what was going on when we just seen the material, assignment were very diffuicult, waste of time to go to his class, had to seek extra help outside of class. Only good thing to say is that he grades exams very well.
He is probably one of the better math profs, he does explain things well. He provides his own printout notes. Practice midterm from last year similar to midterm. The final exam was more difficult the last question on it we just did not learn how to do, not sure if its from the strike but wasn't fair. Does not answer emails very well.
Good lectures and everything on the tests was practiced in his notes. He has printouts to follow along which are a big help. If you want in-depth feedback you will have to visit his office.
Very unorganized. Did not learn in class, learned the material through an outside source to get me through. Did not look at his notes at all. Difficult assignments, nothing like what you learn in lectures. Does not inform you about any assignments he posts, so don't miss it. Only good thing is the midterms and exam were straightforward and fair.
Nice guy. Exams were fair. Grading was very fair and lenient. Lecture notes printed and easy to follow.
Nice guy, but his lectures were a pain to get through. He often does problems off screen without anyone being able to see what's happening, then shows the answer extremely briefly before moving on. Doesn't really teach any material, just does examples all class without explaining how anything works. You're gonna have to learn the course on your own
Pretty cool guy.
Absolute G. Loves the Hurley hat
I learn very well with this prof. He gives you many ways to keep up your grades such as webworks, assignments and weekly quizzes. He continuously asks if the class has any questions and is good explaining when you do. He has lecture capture also and his notes are neat. He also knows how to joke around I would recommend to anyone taking math 1090.
Is a great person however I feel like he isn't clear on what he's doing in class which can make lectures confusing. He does questions on the spot and tends to be confused himself or make mistakes which can be really hard to follow along. Also tends to fail to show the question he's working on on the screen and has to be reminded to.
very smart and easy to access outside of class time and good to understand during class
amazing lectures and provides excellent test samples that help in preparing for midterms and assignments.
Amazing Professor. His classes were at 10am and I regret not going to class often because he actually makes Calculus III fun and engaging, which is very difficult to do. Very humble, funny and an amazing human being. Highly recommended.
Truly a great professor! Made the material very easy to understand and was very interactive with the class. Gave lots of homework, assignments, and quizzes which was great for extra practice. Would take again in a heart beat!
Very unaccommodating. Had multiple issues where I emailed the prof, and he blatantly did not respond. He made a scheduling error on his part and then blamed the students; people wrote midterms given less than 20 minutes due to this. I was very glad that I found the course quite easy and was able to just skip all his lectures and be fine.
Very insightful lectures but very hard exams.
It pains me to give Professor Solomon such a low rating. He clearly cared about students and wanted them to succeed, but his teaching was not good. His workings were often offscreen while he taught, and his assignments were hard. His tests were fair and like the practice, but I had to teach myself most of the material outside of class.
Amazing
Professor Solomon was a very nice person but not a great teacher. Lectures were not helpful and I ended up having to teach myself most of the material.
Tough course but Professor Solomon was great. He often got confused when doing examples in class and workings were sometimes off screen so it was hard to follow but weekly assignments helped to understand the material better and weren't too difficult. Gave sample tests before both Midterms which were almost identical to the midterms themselves.
Overall good professor, I would take his class again. Going to all lectures and tutorials will help tremendously. He provides a lot of practice work and examples that are also a great help. He will not tell you when things are due, you're expected to check yourself and know. Can be difficult to hear sometimes in lectures.
Wonderful lectures, very accessible. He is willing to help you and is very patient in solving your problems. He provides sample midterm questions that are very similar to the actual exams. The final is very lengthy and relatively harder than his other examinations. Worksheets are more important than the weekly assignments. Good luck!
Funny professor assignments were good for learning course material, practice midterms given out were identical to actual midterms
He honestly seemed to enjoy teaching at his lectures, which made learning a ton easier. Succeeding in this course involves a great amount of memorization and practice. The practice midterms that were provided were nearly identical to the real things, but the final was quite the opposite, consisting of concepts that weren't covered extensively.
Solomon is a great guy, but a truly terrible teacher. Rather than explaining material, he simply did examples and read out what he was writing. His notes were also off screen extremely frequently. He would often become confused by his own notes and make mistakes, or teach classes with no mic. His saving grace is that his tests were very fair.
had him for 1090 and 1000 and enjoyed his 1090 class much more. tests are a lot like practice tests which he provides I just don't find his notes prepare overall for what gets asked on assignments/midterms/final. he is very nice though.
Nice prof but do not take unless you are already familiar with the material being taught, or you are a math major. The material is hardly explained, and assignments contain problems that are not seen in examples in class. Essentially, you need to teach yourself 70% of the course since he only gives a few examples. Midterms are pretty fair though.
Solomon is hilarious. Despite frequent reminders, he is not good at keeping his page on the screen. Midterms are very fair, and there were no surprises. The final was tough, but his notes are organized and easy to follow.
Dr. Solomon is one of the sweetest profs at MUN! He really appreciates it when people ask questions and wants his students to understand the material and succeed. So, anyone saying he's a lousy lecturer probably isn't putting in the effort. Solomon is a very fair grader and gives bonus marks and other opportunities to improve your mark.
Dr. Solomon is nice, but makes his lectures painful to attend and watch. Did the bulk of the semester *very* slowly doing handwritten notes. did the last 3 lectures with fill-in notes because we had a chapter and a half to cover in the final week of classes. Also had a lot of issues/contradictions in notes and tests throughout the semester
Amazing prof for math. He is very caring and doesn't mind helping with assignments if you go to his office hours. I took math 1000 and 1001 with him and wouldn't hesitate to take another course with him. practice midterms he posts are same type of questions as on the real midterm.
Was very disorganized when it came to class and giving lectures, often made huge mistakes when giving examples which made it hard to know how we were supposed to do the problems.Took forever to write out every single word in his notes instead of doing fill ins which he decided to do at the end of the year because we were behind. He is sweet though
Had lecture capture, however he was uncommunicative with students over email.
Very caring and friendly professor. He is very clear in the course requirements and tries his best to make the course simpler. The difficulty of the course comes from how it is graded by few things. Doing good in midterm and final is very important to just pass the course. There is also one group project which is very short.
I have taken math 2000 and math 1001 with Solomon. He is great in both courses and teaches the material very well. His tests are always reasonable; he is very helpful in his office hours and LOVES to talk about math with his students. I would definitely take a course with him again if the opportunity presented itself.
Professor Solomon's classes are engaging, but the exams can be challenging. The midterms were fair, and the practice tests were helpful. Unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook were valuable study aids. Attend lectures and complete assignments to succeed.
Personally I found him very difficult to understand. In his lectures he moved very quickly and I never understood what he was saying. I hadn't done any math for over 2 years and he didn't go in detail to where he was getting his numbers from. Although his quizzes and tests are pretty fair and not too long.
Solomon's lectures were quite difficult to follow. Spends the classes doing questions but doesn't explain anything fully. Workload is very heavy consisting of an assignment, a quiz and a set of webwork questions weekly. Assignments were difficult but this is because he tests the easier material. He's very caring and will help you if you ask him.
Professor Solomon was one of the worst Profs I've had at MUN. His lectures are hard to follow with him flipping through his scrap paper he calls notes. He is also hard to understand.... Its like he is speaking in riddles! He isn't very good at posting on D2L either... Overall terrible
This class was meh. there was no textbook to reference. The only thing that gets posted are his bare skeleton notes with no workings. I taught this entire course to myself as his notes were so confusing to navigate and I would just get lost. Though he was understanding about an issue with missing an assignment so i'll give him points for that.
Although this professor has an accent, he is a good teacher. He covers many examples in class and will answer any questions you have in detail. His office is always open for those who may have a question and is a great help. There were a decent amount of assignments, webwork problems, and quizzes/tests, but overall was a pretty good prof.
Mr. Solomon is a great guy with an apparent passion for the math he teaches. Although his initial explanations can be slightly confusing, he is always ready to clarify and help you. Attend the lectures, take notes, and you should succeed with Mr. Solomon as your Professor.
Already did this course in high school but was pleasantly surprised by how much more my understanding grew with professor Solomon. He clearly has a love for the study of math and is excellent at teaching it. The way he explained topics was very streamlined and to the point.
Nice prof but hard to understand and course notes are nothing like assignment and test questions.
Seems like a very nice guy, but classes are very disorganized. Notes also aren't posted outside of classes, so if you miss a class, or didn't get something in class.. good luck!
Dr. Solomon is a nice guy, but classes are AWFUL. His notes are random writings on the chalkboard with no titles or headings, he also doesn't post notes after class so if you miss a class good luck! Overall it's super disorganized. AVOID
Lol, literally WHAT is going on?
Definitely feel as if Solomon's rating is skewed by the fact that this is a lot of people's first time taking a calculus course. He's very passionate, very accessible and takes his time to explain key subjects. Remember that you are responsible for YOUR own learning before tearing into your professor.
To the person that said “ Definitely feel as if Solomon's rating is skewed by the fact that this is a lot of people's first time taking a calculus course”, it's important for teachers to teach well to everyone not just people who have taken calculus before.
Don't take his class if you've never taken calculus, as it isn't very organized, and notes aren't in-depth.
He's alright, maybe above average. His lectures are adequately well done and coherent, but man this guy easily has the worst notes I've seen yet. For whatever reason, he only uploads partially filled out notes and what he does include isn't very clear or helpful. Definitely a guy who takes a backseat to a certain Khan when taking his class.
Solomon's a nice enough guy, but I have never taken a more disorganized course. His notes are ineligible and hard to understand, WebWorks are sent out unannounced, there's no set topic for quizzes, just what was covered "last week," and the disparity between practice problems and tests is insane. I'd avoid taking calculus with Solomon.
Solomon will go out of his way to help someone if they ask him a question. My only problem with this course is his assignments are brutal, they are only worth about 8% but they are hard. His test was fair but most if not everyone ran out of time. He teaches the topics very well and the way he teaches is very understandable.
Good prof but I have been stuck on his courses for years. Upon asking for a regrade of an improperly submitted paper, himself and the entire math department ignored me for two weeks. If you are looking for good courses or an enjoyable university experience the math department is certainly nobody's ally.
He is such a doll. He really cares about his students. Any questions you have he will help you in his office hours. It is a tough class but he is amazing. If you need extra support he tries to give it to you as much as possible.
A great guy who genuinely wants to see his students do well. A bit hard to reach through email but always willing to meet with students outside of class or during his office hours! Loved classes with him.
He is so nice. Will help you with anything you need
His lectures were quite good, but not exceptional either. I sometimes found it difficult to understand his words during class, so I had to rewatch the entire recording from Brightspace. However, overall, his classes are good.
Professor Solomon was an overall good professor. He has a noticeable accent however his English is very clear! You can tell he cares about what he teaches and his midterms were super fair but the final (which isn't fully on him) was super unfair with questions we had never seen!
He's pretty decent, little quiet but not too bad
Struggled with managing brightspace and other online aspects of the course. Explained topics great in class, was very patient and answered questions effectively.
Avoid him if you can. finished a 10 page material in less than 10 mins and tells you to read the rest yourself. Don't even think about getting answers from him by email, at this point I'm assuming he doesn't care. Really tough grader. I think I can say one of the worst profs I have ever seen in my entire 4 years of uni.
I honestly think he's a great professor: his explanations are straightforward (as in step-by-step) because he demonstrates them on the spot, and you can check your assignments in his office. While he does make mistakes during lectures and sometimes goes quiet, I personally think his quizzes and midterms are fair.
his notes were unorthodox, however if you missed something he was extremely helpful during office hours. tests were hard but fair. his assignments were long but very good practice for tests.i found the final was very doable but there was too many questions on it, overall take his class and work hard, he is extremely kind and caring and will help u
He had very organized notes that were posted on brightspace. I loved the lectures, and he was always helpful during office hours!
Professor Solomon is very passionate and he knows the material quite well. Lectures were very informing, and concepts were explained in a way that made them quite easy to understand. One thing i will say is that he would sometimes take up to 30-40 minutes to do one problem, but other than that, he's a very good professor
Awesome prof! So caring and genuinely a precious person, he has an accent but his english is very good. Answers emails in legit 2 seconds with one word answers. Love him would take again.
