He's great. As a person &professor. 70% of the class are holding off taking 142 this summer to take it w/ him for Fall. He is friggin hilarious, classes/labs are fun even @8am on a Sat., clear ppt, exams are straight from lecture slides, &offers plenty of xtra credit. He's a sweetheart. I recall him expressing concern just cuz I worked alone once.

I hate science and this is probably the best science class I've ever taken with him. A ton of work, what anatomy class isn't? Taking 142 with him next semester because he's really helpful and interested in your needs-very thoughtful and funny.Has an accent but it's not distracting.He's awesome! I'm surprised more people haven't rated him amazingly!

Dr. T is one of the all time best teachers I have ever had. He gives tons of extra credit, and if he sees that you are struggling, will help you out. This is a hard class (of course it is, it is A and P!), but he makes it enjoyable. The study guides he gives are a lifesaver- if you really study them,you will ace every test! Great teacher!

Dr. Tavassoli is the most helpful teacher. He genuinely cares about his students and gives a lot of extra credit. His tests are easy if you take good notes. If you've taken Bio 101 and 102 don't bother buying the book.Don't be afraid to ask him anything he is incredibly nice.

He gives enough extra credit where if you get a B+ on a test, you can get an A. His accent was kind of hard for me as he would pronounce words funny. Attendance is mandatory. There is a lot of memorization involved as with any BIO class, but as long as you read & use the study guides, you should do well.

I like Professor T alot!! He is very passionate about A & P and I feel like I have learned a ton in a very short period of time. Let's be honest, though, A & P is tough and I feel burnt to a crisp trying to get a solid A in his class. Doable but tough. Takes many hours of studying to get a great grade. Saturday (6 hours!) classes are BRUTAL.

he is a very good instructor and he always tries his best to help u get a good grade & really cares about his students. u attend a real lab class with him especially the pig dissection that was an interesting experience for me. but dont forget that u have to study hard to do the tests good otherwise you will defiantly feel bad after the test.

6 week summer session. very fast paced but he worked with us. A&P has a lot of info so you HAVE to put in some sort of effort. he gave TONS of extra credit and study guides that helped cover above and beyond what were on his exams. you have to study as soon as you learn the material. A is highly achievable in his class. I got an A!

Dr Tavassoli is one of the Best teachers ever who truly cares about his students. I took the 6 week summer session which made everything harder but Dr T was always on the schedule. He knows everything about Bio and would explain it so good to make sure everyone understands. Tests are easy if you study. Take his class and you will love it...

Dr. Tavassoli taught my bio 141 and 142 class and made it an incredible experience. He clearly cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. He is a very friendly teacher and is always open to helping if you don't understand a concept. Study guides were long and somewhat vague, but if you study them there's not reason not to get an A.

Dr. T is one of the most caring & helpful professors I have ever met! He makes a point to get to know everyone, and will explain the material until you understand it. Don't hesitate to ask! He will relate things to his experiences as a doctor too. It's important to attend class so that you don't miss handouts, test q's to know, and EXTRA CREDIT!

Dr. T is very helpful in explaining everything A&P until you understand it. He offers slides, notes and will often mention possible test questions throughout the lecture, so attendance is mandatory in order to pass this class. Exams are okay. Offers extra credit throughout the semester which is helpful! Just show up, ask Q's if confused and study!!

There's a ton you need to learn, but that's not his fault. All A&P classes have a ton of material. But he is very passionate about what he teaches. He gives extra credit and tells you things he might ask on exams. If you put in the work, you will learn A LOT. A lot of kids are failing or dropped out but TBH just study the powerpoints and it's easy

Dr. Tavassoli is one of the best professors I've had for a science class. Of course since it's anatomy it's going to be A LOT of material. He is very understanding of this, especially if you're taking his class over the summer.He tries to make the class fun. He offers A LOT of extra credit (on every exam plus some extra credit papers.) I recommend!

He has full knowledge of anatomy and physiology. He explains real good. He has an accent but it ain't bad.He gives extra credits and bonus question at the end of every exam. If you don't get an A in his class, there is something wrong with you. Take him if you want to learn A&P.

He's a great professor and I learned a lot from him. His accent can be difficult to understand at times. However, he's willing to go above and beyond to help his students. He wants you to learn and succeed. Don't take his 6 week class if you don't plan on dedicating the time to do assignments and study. He WILL help you. All you have to do is ask.

Smart, engaging, kind--funny. This is a very hard-working professor who will go out of his way to help his students out. I had to drop his class due to a work situation, yet he still offered to help me with a section I was going to miss with the curriculum change and allowed me to copy his PPs. Excellent supplemental materials. Highly recommended.

If you are not a hard working student, forget it. You have to dedicate yourself in order to pass. If you wanna have fun and not serious about Bio 141 or 142, Do not recommend him. He is tough and he makes you work hard. If you wanna learn something, go for it though.

Take this class to LEARN, not just to take it for an easy passing grade like most students. You have to put in TIME in studying and you get rewarded for it. Lectures a bit long but welcome to anatomy. Just do the study guide, WORD FOR WORD and study it like there's no tomorrow. Come test time, all the answers will just show up instantly. A++

He is a great professor. If you put in even slight work, there is no way you wont get an A. A&P is not easy so it does require some effort. However he literally gives you ALL the tools to succeed so its your choice whether you want an A or not. He gives study guides which if you study them, you are golden for the exams.

Mr. Tavassoli is the greatest bio teacher at NOVA. Yes, Biology is tough and you have to study either way but he is a great help! Lab isn't taken as serious with the lab books. He believes that you should be learning in his class therefore if youre stuck in a test problem he will tell you the answer. Very understanding and comprehensive! Take him!

He has to be by far the best professor I've ever had. He's been very caring and influential in his teachings. He makes it fun and easy for you. BIO IS HARD! If you're really passionate about a career that deals with anything medical you should definitely take his class. The lectures are extremely long but it only felt like that due to the snow days. If you study the study guide and pay attention you will ace the tests. He does assign an essay and case studies. Gives lots of extra credit.

The class material can be difficult but if you try then you can do it. He is a very nice and caring person. Was so lenient with everything and really cares for his students. Just try your best and he will see your effort and help you out.

I took this as a 6 week summer class and a lot of our tests were online which I liked. If you're nervous about his tests he will help you a lot and tell you exactly what you need to study because he cares a lot. His time management skills aren't that great and the last week of class was awful trying to learn so much but still great.

He is a breath of fresh air. I looked forward to showing up to his class because of his enthusiasm for teaching and inspirational stories he told to our class. He is a phenomenal teacher who genuinely cares about your grade and understanding of A&P. He uses his Physician background to help students understand abnormal functionalities. Also, funny.

He is an awesome professor. Those who have negative things to say about him are most likely failing because they don't attend classes. His accent isn't that bad at all! I don't know how anyone could give this man a low rating. Gives tons of extra credit, tells motivational stories from his past, and relates A&P to medical practices.I recommend him!

He is a very inspirational man so you should pick his brain about his past physician care! u should take him. he is a kind man. he helped me understand physiology and anatomy. gave me good ways to study and memorize muscles and bones. study guides were long but very helpful. gave a lot of extra credit. he makes me laugh. broke up class time with stories about his homeland and med school. very cool guy.

aside from being an exciting and lively teacher, he is a tremendous man. he genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Tells stories about his personal experiences as a physician to help us better understand A&P. NVCC is lucky to have this man as a professor! I recommend him. Gives great study tips for easy memorization!

Dr. Tavassoli is a fantastic professor! A/P is a dense class, and I took it as a 6-week summer course. He understood that it's a short course and literally did everything he could to help us learn. He isn't concerned about grades as much as ensuring you learn the material, and makes it hard to get anything other than an A if you pay attention.

Only thing stopping me from taking Bio 142 is how far the campus is from me + his accent. I memorize terms when pronounced consistently, but he is understandable if you can past that. Aside from that, I love his dry humor + his real life examples + acronyms for learning! He knows his stuff & if he comes across as harsh, don't take it personally.

BEST professor at Nova. I wish all professors were like him. He emails back on time, study guides are EXACTLY whats on the test, very helpful outside of class, some exams r online. He's lenient and genuinely cares about his students. I absolutely recommend!

Awesome. I really enjoyed Dr. Tassasoli's class. He does make you work for your grade, but if you show up, participate and show a genuine interest, you should do well. Always ask for help or clarification if needed. He wants to help you succeed. He spent extra time with our study group to answer all our questions.

Professor Tavassoli is one of the most caring professors I ever got the pleasure of knowing. He makes time for students and let's you retake all missing test - both lab and lecture. He is very clear in his lectures and he is entertaining.

This professor was great! I am honestly surprised there is a single negative review on here. He gives you every opportunity to succeed an earn an A. If you put in the work and study, an A is easily achievable. He is always willing to work with students outside of class, and teach a concept until everyone understands. Study guides are a great tool.

Prof T was great but don't expect to get an easy A. He pays EXTREME attention to detail in his tests so be prepared to study and do the study guides! Tons of extra assignments beyond class work: essays, extra credit, quizzes, blackboard and so on. However, he does care about your success and if he sees you trying, he will work with you.

I wish all professors were like Prof. Tavassoli! He is very knowledgable and also an amazing teacher. He makes the difficult concepts look easy. Profesor Afshin was one of my favorite profesors at NOVA. I took him for Bio 141 and 142 (coz he's amazing). He's EXTREMELY knowleageable and experienced in his feild, and he is one of those profesors who truly care about their student's success. It's anatomy, so obviosly its not an easy class, but attend lectures (and labs) and you'll do great.

Very nice and caring professor. He wants you to learn the material and he will explain it to you as many times as you need. Goes above and beyond to help his students. Very funny and knowledgeable.

I love this professor. I learned so much from him and he cares so much about his students. He is responsive, engaging and would do anything to help a student succeed. I altered my entire work schedule so I could take his class, and I already signed up for him for Bio 142 next semester. He also offers extra credit opportunities. 100% satisfied.

There is a lot of work in this class. There's homework, 11 online timed test , also case studies . You only have about one minute to answer each question on the test. It was a very hard class but he is an Awesome teacher. I learned so much this semester. He is pretty fair in the end he gave a lot of extra credit. He is a very nice man.

Great great great professor. A&P is an extremely hard class, but if you are willing to learn he is there to help every step of the way . Test are online and they require a lot of studying but he offers plenty of ways to earn points in order for you pass the class like extra credit, case studies etc...

I don't understand the bad reviews. A&P is an extremely hard class and going to lectures is not enough. You have to put in the work and study 24/7. Prof Tavassoli is more than fair with his grading, you just have to put in the effort. He may have a strong accent but its not too bad that you cant understand him. Def one of the best profs i've had.

Great Professor. He really cares about his students. Yes the tests were very hard but he gives you numerous oportunities to make it up with extra credit. He really cares about the topic and gets joy out of seeing his students learn. As long as you study hard you will do fine in this class. If you procrastinate and dont study you wont.

I took bio 141 back in 2017 with Prof. T and I loved him! I honestly could have passed this class with an A but a family emergency occurred where I missed a few classes and fell behind. Prof. T took the time outside of class to catch me up on what I missed and even let me retake an exam which still got me a B+ Overall grade. 100% recommend him.

Prof. T is amazing! A&P is HARD! you need to spend HOURS studying to fully understand the material. The quizzes and exams will be hard and requires EFFORT! Also, those who use the Prof's accent as an excuse for not doing well in the class SHOULD NOT work in the medical field to begin with. STUDY and try your best and you will get an A!!!

Dr. Tavassoli uses power point and study guides for tests. Your grades are based on 9 online, timed, and one attempt tests and 9 assignments that are non limited time. He mentions his favorite questions during the lectures so pay attention to them. His tests are not easy, but every thing comes form the study guides.

Dr. Tavassoli is by far my favorite professor at NOVA. He is so enthusiastic, experienced, and caring. I took BIO 142 with him and I wish I could take more. That said, A&P is a hard class. There's a lot of work, but do it and you'll do well on the exams. Read the chapters and attend lecture. Answer every question and the extra credit on every exam.

Dr. Tavassoli is an excellent professor who truly wants his students to succeed. If you attend, participate, and study, he'll guide you every step of the way. Those who complain usually don't ever show up in class. He's clear about what's on exams—just be prepared to do the work and you'll do great.

Goodish professor for difficult class. Reads off the power points. 4 lecture tests, 4 quizzes, 5 lab practicals. Posts test “guides” with topics to be questioned. Tests mostly based off slides, some outside. Makes very clear of what is expected in LP, which is a lot. Study extra for Muscle & joint LP. Just study a lot and you'll be fine.
