Can't speak English, doesn't try to explain, just writes randomness on the board
Ask her to sing. Very understanding.
She's a sucker for reverse psychology (hint: if you don't want to go to the board, pretend you know what you're doing).
Grades easy (boardwork and homework). Will help you if you need it. Explains things well.
Votja is a really sweet person who knows her stuff. She really wants everyone to learn and will do anything she can to help.
Probably the best recitation instructor to have for Phys 23. If you have her for recitation and pay attention both in recitation and in lecture, you will do very well in this class.
She is awesome. She grades fairly on boardwork/homework and is willing to explain. If you listen and don't argue with her criticism you get a better grade, because face it, you are wrong and she is right. She knows her stuff. She's very nice.
She started out the year with everyone in the class hating her. Now she it seems like she is our lone ally as we battle our way through the physics dept here at UMR. Awesome teacher, when you know your stuff. Don't get one her badside.
You might spend your whole life searching for someone as nice and still come up empty. She's smart, compassionate, understanding, and, best of all, encouraging. Go to the PLC and be attentive and understanding when she talks in class... it helps.
She knows her stuff, is tough, but very nice. She is prolly the best for recitation.
Great teacher, good suggestions and is always willing to help, especially harsh the first month, but lightens up by the end
Her ressitation usually has the highest test grades, because she is as strict as Bieniek. The truly irritating thing about this class and her is the fact that boardwork is not randomly assigned, and she collects work when she notices that people are gone
She is a hard teacher. She is really good at explaining the details about everything. no doubt she knows her stuff. She is a really strict grader and expects a lot of her students!
She is doing everything to lower my grade at boardworks. And then she threatens me about repeating the class infront of everybody. But she doesn't even know that I'll get 'A' If she won't give low bb scores. I prefer motivation rather then strictness. ...Do not attend her class...
Vojta is an amazing recitation instructor. She gives us old test questions to work on while people are doing boardwork, and it's really helpful. She's a nice person, too. I consider myself lucky every time I remember that I got stuck with her.
Awesome. I have sat in on every instructor's recitation, her's is the best. She has the highest overall average, highest test scores, and most reasonable boardwork scores. If you are able to get her, consider yourself lucky.
A lot of times, I learned more in recitation than I did in lecture because Vojta is so awesome. She also grades strictly without being nitpicky and in general is very friendly and approachable.
She's a better Bieniek than Bieniek... after taking Phys 23 with both of them she is so much better. Her lectures are much more informative and she makes the class challenging without being insane. Very friendly too.
not that bad at being horrible, cause she seems to be a natural at it. Utterly boring. Very unclear. And never finishes anything. quick response on emails though. you are basically screwed, hope for beinicks return.
She is very tough. Somewhat anal about homework and how it is graded, but great at rescitation instruction. Once you learn how to do things her way, you'll have an easier time, but if you were taught another way on how to do it, be prepared to change your ways or take a hit on your grade.
Great lecturer and recitation teacher too! If you do your work the way she wants it makes the problems easier and helps your grade also. Hard to concentrate because she is so HOT!!
Her lectures before tests are good, but she struggles every else. She thinks that we should be learning everything from our books giving the argument that we payed for them. I payed more for the class and have learned less. You will learn more about physics in an english class then from her.
Has many examples set up behind her, she never uses one
She is awesome! Get to know her and she will be a HUGE help.
She was very dull and boring during lecture. Relys too much on the slideshow. Expects us to learn everything from the book "since we pay for it".
Even though her lectures were boring, I thought she was a pretty decent teacher. I did have to rely on the book and/ or recitation for most of it, but that's probably just because I had trouble paying attention in lecture. When I did, she seemed to be doing a good job.
Lecture was boring, but she covered most of material well. She's great to have for recitation. Very strict early on, but she teaches you how to do everything. She's constantly getting you ready for the next test. I'd strongly recomend her for recitation.
She is amazingly boring in lectures which means, unless there is a quiz, there is no point in going. And she can't dress at all.
Though she displays enthusiasm, I found her lectures too difficult to follow, and tended to fall asleep during class. In phys 24, I had a much easier time comprehending lectures. She's a tough grader and gives very tricky lecture quizzes. I studied as hard as I could and BARELY got a B.
What bothers me the most about her is that everytime i help grad 23 test she is the one that is complaining about how stupid the students are...that really irritated me to the point that i really dodged working in her group.
She is a horrible professor. She asks us for our opinions and when we give them she yells at us. She only helps us on Wednesdays for 3 hours. If we want extra help we have to go to other physics help sessions :(
Vojta is a great teacher. She lectures for Physics 21 now and does great. I took 23 with Bieniek las semester and failed it. I switched classes and Vojta is much easier to understand in my opinion. I don't know the reason for the poor reviews. Perhaps she has gotten much better over the years. Quality is good now anyway!
I had her a year and a half ago, and the only reason I'm reviewing her now is because she was my absolute favorite teacher. I guess it was because she actually seemed to care if I understood the material. I'll admit, her accent was a bit difficult to understand, but she communicated her course better than anyone else I've had.
Dr. Vojta really knows her stuff. Teaches the material fairly well. Only uses the book for homework, and the occasional quiz. She is far more helpful than the book. Has a pretty straight forward syllabus, as well. she makes it really easy to pass the class, if you attend and study previous tests.
Dr. Vojta tries her best to make a less than fun class entertaining. She knows what she's talking about and she's willing to help, you just have to ask her. If you're struggling, go to the PLC, its worth it.
Dr. Vojta does her best to make the class enjoyable. She truly cares about every single student she teaches and makes sure to be available if anyone has a question. She is definitely the most caring professor I have had yet.
Take the online format for sure. Nice to be able to take the quiz at home, plus can watch the lecture when best for you. Test are reasonably tricky, but doing problems helps a lot. Decent teacher for a grinder class.
Easy Material. You will get a point marked off for not adding a slash in an equation even if the answer is right. Weed out course for engineers. Make sure you have a good recitation instructor if you want material to study for the test.
Excellent teacher.
Dr. Vojta and the PHYS1135 team are excellent. Lectures are typical, with extremely helpful example problems. Vojta runs the Peer Learning Center twice a week at various times. If you want to understand the material and ace the tests, there are a MUST. Recitation is great, lab is useless. She truly wants you to succeed, but will challenge you. : )
She is the most available and helpful professor I have ever had. She is kind and caring and willing to spend hours with you if you need it. I have never had a professor really care about me so much, and in a class of 500 none the less. Really special professor and you learn a lot. She understands the material and makes physics a lot less daunting.
Dr. Vojta was super organized and explained things thoroughly and clearly. She was punctual and covered all the material without any rushing. If you do the homework and work steadily, you'll get an A. She was often available outside of class to answer questions. She can be a little intimidating, but don't be afraid to ask questions!
Fairly good online lectures. Needs to be more specific and work more examples though.
She wants you to pass! Just use the resources she provides like PLC or files. Read the textbook if you're struggling. Make sure to attend class!!!
Amazing lecturer! Has a sense of humor in lectures and is clear in her examples. Also very willing to help if you need it. Overall great teacher.
Dr. Vojta is fantastic - lecture is enjoyable and her demonstrations are the best. She is very willing to help you understand. Highly recommend!
Dr Vojta was an awesome lecturer. She did lots of demonstrations in class, which made it dynamic and interesting. She's absolutely hilarious and really cares about your success. The class is structured VERY well; previous tests are provided, homework help always available, etc. They teach physics in a very simple. easy to understand manner.
Dr. Vojta is a textbook example of a perfect professor. She gives very clear grading criteria, abundant access to learning resources, reasonable exams, and truly wants the students to understand physics. Not an "easy A" but anyone who has a work ethic will enjoy the class and the teaching team.
Dr. Vojta!! She's fantastic. Very enthusiastic and always keeps things fun and entertaining. She can be pretty savage too, so don't mess with her but if you enjoy that humor you're in for a good time. Once roasted someone for thinking you can roll on a frictionless slope. But, she's very nice and always helpful. PLC is fantastic too!
The greatest thing since sliced bread. Dr. Vojta is an incredible professor who cares about her students and their success. If you don't understand something, GO TO LEAD. Def one of the best professors on the S&T campus.
She is very sweet and explains the concepts very well. Her lecture slides are posted on the website and she posts videos of the lecture and of her doing the example problems. She also posts videos of extra practice problems that we don't go over in class.
I love Dr. Vojta - she is one of my favorite instructors ever (and I'm 120+ credits in)! She is so nice and gives you every chance to succeed. Please, go to her LEADs and PLCs, you will learn a lot and get fantastic grades on the homework. Her lectures are amazing; she is a great speaker. I would get a BS in Physics if I she taught me solely!!
Her lectures can be entertaining when she gives demonstrations, but having the lectures at 09:00 is pretty tiring.
I do not understand why she has so many good reviews. Her lectures are terrible. maybe its just me, but the way she structures the lectures make absolutely no sense and leave me more confused than before. Not to mention the difficulty I had trying to take notes. I really only learned from doing my own research on whatever topic she "covered".
i took the asynchronous physics 1 class and the lectures were easy to understand and accessible, the RSD was the worst part with "boardwork" quizzes and randomly turning in homework. the tests were all 15 questions and all multiple choice and relatively easy. just make sure you keep up with the work.
The exams are 65% of the final grades. Seems like not that much, but they are 200 points each. There isn't much leeway if you do bad on more then 1 exam
Physics 1135 is not as difficult at this university as some make it out to be. I did not find the information in this class to be any harder than anything one might learn at another university. It was not an easy A, but the work was pretty typical. Often it is 8-10 HWs, a test, rinse and repeat.
Between lecture, recitation, lab, homework, and PLC, expect to spend nearly all of your time on this course. Her lectures were just 'fine'. She introduced equations and sometimes gave examples. Homework was given after every lecture and randomly due the next day in recitation, so expect to spend a lot of time on problems that won't be turned in.
Physics 1 at this school is hard. It's a lot of work, and you should expect it to take up a large chunk of your time. However, Vojta is maybe the perfect lecturer for the job. She is clear, concise, and gives plenty of in-class demonstrations. The online resources for this course are also *fantastic*. Don't feel bad if you can't make it in-person.
Lectures don't help with the homework, only Recitation does
Killled in class. 10/10, would take again
Always does demonstrations when explaining new concepts that I found to be very helpful to understand the material.
Her lectures are great for understanding the concepts and the basics about a new topic, but typically only help out with around 50% of the homework. But, if you go to PLC, you'll understand the course well, get all your homework done correctly, and at minimum get a B in the course. Grade boundaries make it easy to pass, but difficult to get and A.
I honestly stopped going to lecture after the first test and did the rest of the class using the online videos provided. My grade improved a lot this way. In those videos Professor Vojta is extremely helpful with teaching the content. Professor Vojta and Chegg.
Physics 1 is extremely difficult but if you put in a lot of work its passable. A lot of people in my class have extremely low grades but they are overhauling the physics department and apparently changing the structure so there is no telling what this class will look like a few semesters.
Vojta seems like a really nice person, but the course contains so much material that the lectures leave me extremely confused. I recommend watching the videos instead of going to lecture because you can pause them and go at your own pace. Once I started doing that, my grades improved significantly. PLC didn't work for me, but everyone is different!
Those who frequently criticize the course probably should take a moment to reflect on themselves and consider whether their challenges stem from the instructor's shortcomings or their own. Embracing the struggle often yields valuable growth.
Class is hard but doing the homeworks, past tests, and recitation worksheets and understanding them will help you out greatly.
this was an into to physics class, she brings in guest speakers every class to talk about their research. she also ansers questions on how to be successful in your carrcareer
Her in-person lectures might be better, but her online lectures were tough to stay focused on. Doing her homeworks and checking your answers are frustrating as the homeworks are from 2016 and don't go into detail about how to get to the solutions, they just show you the answer. If you have Chegg and want to check your answers that helps.
Don't take this class online. After doing very poorly online at the start of the semester I just started going to one of her random lecture slots so I could learn in person. Her in person lectures were twice as good as the videos she posted. Lots of partial credit was given on tests, so write down what you know even if its not much
It's hard, but doable. If you do every homework (regardless of if it's a graded one) it will make everything make much more sense. Biggest advice: go to PLC. They will help you understand stuff. And use old tests to prepare for your test.
Dr. Agnes Vojta is an awesome teacher. Her website is awesome, and I love how much she cares. She makes physics so easy to learn.
Kind of just average for a professor. Not great, but not horrible.
You don't really get anything out of going to the lectures because she just reads directly off of the slides, so if you are lost, you have to go very far out of your way to figure it out. Also if you don't know what you are doing on the homework, oftentimes it gets graded after that units test so good luck. Mid lecturer, great person.
Dr. Vojta gives incredible lectures and the homework sets you up well for the exams. I cannot stress enough the importance of attending her lectures. You will learn from her (and there are lots of suprise, in class but fairly easy quizzes) She provides plenty of extra credit and is very helpful one-on-one. Highly recommend!
I was in the online section, so my lectures were online, but my recitation and lab were both in person. The lectures were not for attendance, but everything else was. The exams were fine if you're willing to study for them. You have to be responsible in this class if you want to be successful. Overall, it was pretty good.
Amazing lectures. Definitely the highlight of the class. Dr. Vojta is great at explaining concepts, and is very open to helping students, though can be a little intimidating to approach at first. The homework can be difficult, but lots of support is offered, and she has an organized website that will have solutions the day after it's due.
Dr. Vojta herself is great. Lectures were very clear, did plenty of examples. Willing to answer questions. Provided online lecture recordings, and plenty of study material. Homework is randomly collected, and is due before recitation, so you have less than 24 hours to finish it. Definitely study the multiple choice questions, they are very tricky.
Vojta is not tolerant of stupid or ignorant questions but she does genuinely want you to understand the material.
To begin, there were times when she misunderstood a question from someone in lecture, and her answer to their question was unhelpful. Outside of that rarity, she was an amazing teacher. Lectures were enjoyable, she gave plenty of worked examples, and the recitation and homework prepared me for the exams sufficiently.
Dr. Vojta is incredibly caring and has bent over backwards to help me understand physics. I went to literally every single help session she offered and they were really helpful. If I didn't take this class alongside other difficult classes I think I would've been able to do better, so try to take this class in a semester that isn't as loaded.
