A Professor with a great heart and true caring of the student...willing to go the extra mile to ensure that the material is understood. A very fair and extremely competent teacher.
He's a decent teacher, a tad unclear at times. Don't buy the book. Everything you need to know for the takehome tests is taught in class. Soo.. go to all of them. An A is completely achievable.
Professor Noor is the best and easy going. He is very nice and decend person. Professor Noor is very helpful and he returns email very fast if you need help. He makes the course more interesting. MUST TAKE PROFESSOR NOOR for computer.

horrible teacher..needs major english skills
He has a passion for teaching. He keeps his classes fun. Most of all, he cares. Definately take his class.
Very helpful and takes his time. If you don't understand just ask. Take home tests are fair.
THE BEST COMPUTER TEACHER!
We do stuff not even related to computers. WHat do brain teasers have to do with computers??
Been in his class for one week. So far, so good. I'd recommend him for anyone.
Great teacher, please give me A+ !
definitly one of the best teachers ive had.. takes extra time to explain everything.. try him if you want to learn something :)
I suppose if coming to class is no problem for you, then this class is practically an easy A. Although I knew C++ before taking this class, and thought to myself, "Here's an easy A," I found that I was quite wrong as I didn't get an A in the end. It was because of my frequent absences...
At first i thought he was a joke, but the class is really easy you dont need to even tlk to the teacher, just be there all the time and keep up with your work, u get a well deserved A, hopefully (i am still waitin for my grade)
he was very easy... we did not even have a final... he is good
well he is a kool professor..but i m still waitin for my grade to be posted for his class..my goodness wuts takin him so long....take him he's nice but attendance is important
Cool professor and very helpful. His class is very easy and there was no final exam. Recommended if you want to improve your GPA and learn C++ at the same time.
COOL PROFESSOR. EXPLAINS LESSONS CLEARLY. ONLY 2 EXAMS WILL MAKE YOUR GRADE. VERY HELPFUL AT ALL TIMES. JUST SHOW UP ON CLASSES AND TRY "YOUR BEST" ON YOUR EXAMS...YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED!!! 'A'
he is definately a man for the job. he understand every students of his very well. do ur assignment, ask question.try to be in class then A is definately urs.take his class
very funny.....easiest class u will ever take...as long as u r nice to him u will be fine
this professor is one of the easiest professor u will ever take. he is very funny. i was never in the class and i barely did any work. he passed me with a B!
He is an AWESUM TEACher .If u want to GEt AN EASY A TAKe his class!!!! he is the nicest teacher ever!!!!!
he is the best teacher
one of my favorite teachers at nvcc. i barely went to class because u can do the assignments at home as long as u do them all! even a 7 y/o can do these. the A really helped my GPA. =) awesome professor!
I am now in his advanced course for C++. At first he gave me the impression that he has a problem with having females in his class. If he's not careful he will get himself in hot water with some of his jokes. Otherwise a very nice teacher. A very very challenging class, but he dosent really give out assignments, only take home exams.
one of the best teacher
One of the best professors I have had! There are no quizzes/exams. Just do the projects in the book and turn in. Attendance not mandatory. Grades based on projects and helping other students. Willing to help if needed.
He was great! all you need to do is read the book and do what it says, turn in your work and help people and you'll get an A!
He is understandable, do the homework the test are done at home open book, you can even discuss with a classmate about it just don't copy each others work. And do what he says you will get a A. The best am taking him again in the fall.
I took his programming design course and signed up for his C++. This joint was so easy. Don't buy the book, he doesn't use it. It was a 3 hour class and he ended the class like 1-2 hours early EVERY DAY lol. He gave us 2 take-home exams with like 5 questions on them. That's it. He's funny too.
Worst professor possible! He did not teach AT ALL. He came to this 2hr class for only about 30minutes and then left early. He is RUDE! He is very unspecific about what the assignments he requires are. He is very unhelpful, if you ask him for help he'll direct you to one of the students. We only use the book. WORST PROFESSOR EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
On-line class; time-consuming, but not difficult. My 2 complaints are 1)I wrote repeatedly asking what questions I got wrong on the first test; he promised to let me know, and a month later, I'm still waiting. 2) Lengthy tests are on SUNDAYS (10a-11:50p) even during Spring Break! I left an event today; it is 3p and the test still isn't posted! :(
I posted the 3/14/10 rating, which shows a "2" for "Clarity," but I meant to put "4." He posts exams on a schedule, so if you work ahead since it's an online class, you get held up by the test schedule. Also, last couple assignments are web projects that you have to wait for him to post, so there's no way to finish early. Exam schedule is supposed to be getting modified to allow 48-hour window, and no more than 24 hrs are to be on a weekend.
I got an A in class but the AGONY that I felt is why he gets such a low score in my book. I emailed him specific questions and was always confused by his reply. Online class, with a clear syllabus, however Prof Noor does not follow it at times and randomly sends you emails when you are getting an exam. This included an exam during spring break.
Prof Noor as he says himself is a Marshmallow. If you take interest and complete the tasks he assigns to you, you'll definately get 'A'. There are take home Exams and you get enough time to solve them.
Prof. Noor uses his knowledge in the field to teach this course. His philosophy is if you do the work, you'll learn. If you do your job as a student and ask questions and help, there is no reason to not do well in his class. A rare professor.
Professor Noor has been teaching for 20+ years and definitly knows his stuff. He teaches you want you need to know and doesnt really use the text book. He is really funny and you will definitely learn from his class, just make sure you attend everyday!
I have taken Professor Noor for ITP 100 and C++..He is the best!!! Come to class everyday, do your homework and the exams will be a breeze..you wont be disappointed with your final grade...A++++++++++
Dr. Noor is one of the best teachers I"ve had since moving to Nova. He truly cares about ALL of his students and willing to help them with anything he can. He is very sweet and also a fair person. I really enjoyed his class. He is just amazing.!He is very intelligent & funny. He has a creative ways of presenting class, and makes is so easy.Take HIM!
Dr. Noor is one of the best teachers ever. He understands every student problems. He makes the class very easy and fun to learn. Take him and you will like him. He is so talented and want to come to class everyday. You have to attend the class.
He is the best prof. ever. This class is really hard but he makes it easier. I love the way he make the class as a fun place to learn:)
Great Professor easy A or B
Great professor. Entertaining and explains concepts well. If you get A or B in first two tests then you don't have to take final. No book required.
hard grader, he took so many points off.
Great professor!!! I took this class in 2010, I am a slacker and rarely do HW. The concepts are not that easy, but he will explain and encourages questions. Very entertaining professor, makes this class enjoyable and easy. His test are hard but he will prepare you for them, just follow along.I got a B in the class for only doing The Midterm/Final
Easy A, but you won't learn much. Professor is a nice guy and willing to help, but is not good at explaining material and his class is not organized. In general, you'll leave class confused and there's no textbook to help you. He's good at teaching flowcharts, but doesn't really teach pseudocode and the final is all pseudocode.
Professor is fantastic,he rally cares about his students. if you follow his guidelines do the work he assigns by the deadlines you will do well. I would definitely take another class of his again.
Best Teacher every, very helpful and funny. Easy assignments and easy test. This is an easy A class if you do your assignments.
He is the best teacher you can possibly come by. He really wants everyone to pass and will always work this out with his students.
He's a great professor. Really funny and helpful. He has 4 projects from the book, and the test are take home, and easy. Class is fun and entertaining.
Unless you want to waste your money and time do not take his class. He doesn't recommend the book there is no power point you will be confused and lost in this class. It is a 4 credit class so stay away.
This is the worst teacher. He will make sure you don't drop the class until the deadline and will make fun of you after that. He was telling one student that he gives the class next semester. Don't take his classes if you want to learn. He is a joke.
i hustle too much to pass this his class. worst thing is it won't transfer to mason. please check with ur advisor before u enroll for i.t courses
Good professor, he does joke a lot but at times can be serious. He gives a lot of examples and it's your job to study them. Practice the assignments and you should do fine. No book and no study sheets.... he teaches the course from his own notes.
All I can say is he is the best professor!! easy A. As long as you respect him. his assignments are soo easy!!! easy A
Funny guy and such a sweetheart. Easy A, TAKE HIM WORTH YOUR TIME
If your someone who doesn't know much about programing or before, you will be confused trust me! I had knowledge of programming prior to his class and I found him very confusing and hasty. Not to mention his accent. He would write on the board and tell everyone to not write then move on without any chance for us. I dropped after the second class.
One of the best professors I have had! There are no quizzes/exams. Just do the projects in the book and turn in. Final exam is just 10% of your effort. Grades based on projects and helping other students. Willing to help if needed.
A GREAT teacher.Clear, to the point and funny. You want to learn? Take his class. How bout' them dogs?
Hes class was so easy. your just on nthe computer doing your work and if you finished you can leave. Hes funny and he doesnt care really about attendence.
Professor Noor is very helpful and serious but funny and lovely at the same time. I just took another class with him 5 mins ago. He teaches programming which is difficult to understand, but he makes it interesting. He is not an easy so you have to put lots of effort in his classes but If he understands that you are trying, he will help. Love him
This professor is very nice and very helpful. That is only if you show the effort and understanding of the course. His lectures is pretty much "shove down your throat" and very clear and to the point. He will warn you from the very beginning that the course is very tough and he is not lying. I would suggest you study like every day.
Not a good professor please don't take him and waste your time He teaches you one thing and give you exam on another Not Recommended
I have to say this is the worst professor ever. If you are trying to learn Java ITP 100 avoid him. I haven't learned anything in his class there is No study guides or no power points. He also embarrasses students calls them out every class. The final exam was random it was something that we did not cover throughout the semester. Hes a tough Grader.
If you don't show up, you will fail. DO NOT miss 1 class or you will fall behind. very to the point and keeps things interesting. You have to want to pass and you MUST pay attention and follow along. Extremely nice guy but will call you out. Semi hard to ask questions because his explanations are sometimes all over. DON'T buy the book! Goodluck
This professor is great at keeping you interested in the lecture. He is aware that most of his classes are in the range of 3 hours. The final for this course had maybe 10% of material covered in the course.
I took ITP100 and ITP132 and i passed both by A. Well, programming classes are not easy at all and you have to work for it. If he understands that you work, he will help to a great extent. He is funny and very knowledgeable. HE LOVES HIS STUDENTS.
He is good, when he does the examples, but if you are going to do it, it is a chaos! Be aware of asking him questions, he is the on to make fun of you directly, and shows no respect all. lectures were vague, HWs was kind of okay if you had studied hard and done some research on your own. do yourself a favor, and ask friends, I'm amazed he got 4
He was a great teacher for a beginner class into the IT field. Would love to take his class again in a different course, he was really that fun to learn from.
he is a great professor, he knows a lot about the materiel. if you can not attend a class or you have an issue just inform him he is the kind of professors who understands. he is nice and hilarious!
Great class. Even better professor! Really great, but beware. NVCC has started to prostitute itself out to the pearson company. On top of paying for the class and books you also must pay pearson company $90 to access a website where you will take the class tests. Don't want to pay $90 to access a website? You can't recieve grades. Automatic fail.
I've taken Prof. Noor twice- Software Design and C++ . He has a great way of breaking down complicated CS theory into manageable bites. Very visual learning style. Hilarious and always answers emails. He recognizes hard workers and even gave me a recommendation for an honors class. I only wish he taught more classes. Exceptional professor.
If you want to fail then go ahead and take him. I hate how he embarrass students when they ask him questions, its just so unprofessional and he makes programming so much complicated than it already is.
Professor Noor is a wonderful professor. Programming is not easy, but he uses real-life concepts for examples along with flowchart. The final exam was not counted against us as he does not make the final and looks at your three tests scores instead. However, if you miss one class day you will fall behind. If you work hard, you will get an A.
He had 2 tests the entire semester and 6 to 7 homework's. Very late with emails, grades, and sometimes even to classes. He's just everywhere, very disorganized. Would not take him again or recommend him. It's a week after the semester has been finished and I still haven't received anything.
He sucks, doesn't use the book at all, teaches "out of his head" he tell you too look online that there is a lot of examples, never refers back to the book on anything and test are so much harder than what he grades for... not worth taking him
At first I was skiptal about his class but he does help you, you have try your hardest and keep doing your work, no other professor will explain this better in the WHOLE NOVA campus, I've taken this class for the second time, I know for a fact, take home test and participation in class matter, TAKE HIM NOWWWWW!!!!
Great professor. You will not need to buy or read a textbook. You WILL need to show up to class, pay attention and give an honest effort. If you can do that, you will be fine. I reccomend his class to people that are visual learners, those that are not in the IT program or those who intend to do programming.
Excellent Professor. I had him for Software Design and C++. Yes, you have to pay attention, and YES you must take notes. His grading is a bit unorthodox and may leave some frustrated not knowing what grade they will receive, but if you really engage, do the HW, and pay attention you'll get an A. Really loves teaching and the subjects he teaches.
Professor have a lots of information and knowledge about subject. If Prof. provide a question before solution then Its going to the best Prof. at NOVA.
I also took him for design and got an A, too. Never took notes in the C++ class, but I had prior programming knowledge beforehand. Professor Noor is interesting because you always learn something new. If you want to do the minimum however it will not fly. He knows when you don't give it your best. If you do try, you will not get less than an A.
Professor Noor was better than the last professor I took for ITP 100. He teaches visually on the board on flowcharts and doesn't teach from book. He seems to be preferred for this software design class as he explains the concept well. Take home tests which you have to do on your own. Homework counts and final at end of semester.
If there was a tag for unperdictable it would suit him, because you never know where you stand through the entire semester until he hits you with that F or D if he's feeling sorry. honestly, the only good reviews he has are either his or ITE115 students. if you care about a stressful environment STAY AWAYY. He designs classes to suit failure.
I took his class ITP 100 despite the reviews here. Unfortunately, I couldn't get good grade. He is not fair grader. He chooses whoever he likes for grading. I would never take his class again because I did not gain any knowledge either. He teaches one thing and gives test on another topic. He didn't like me. No, I didn't learn anything.
When taking an IT class, you'd expect to use a computer, right? Not with this guy. When a professor tells you not to buy a book because "it does not apply" then that's somewhat of a bad indicator if you ask me. This is a 100 class, the professor treated it as if everyone knew the material, not the case. DO NOT take him, if you can avoid him do.
Really inovative. Rather than learning by reading or memorization, in this class you learn by seeing and by doing. He teaches programming through flowcharts which is far better than the pseudocode used in some itp100 classes. You have to study every week and attend class to pass, thats a given.
Great professor, easy A.
I took him for Intro to Programming. He does not teach out of the book. There really wasn't a syllabus. If you don't go to class or have prior knowledge of the material you will be lost. He is very nice but tells a lot of side stories.
You'll get the grade you deserve. Not an easy A, but you can definitely earn it. I recommend him for those who are serious about programming.
Take this guy. He goes over concepts in an easy to understand method, and the programming for his tests are simple. He's a great lecturer.
I highly recommend taking this professor for Software Design. His lectures are based on flowcharts (diagrams/steps of programming). This method by far makes programming easy to understand. He will go step-by-step on the logic behind flowcharts so do not worry about it. If your a visual learner you will grasp it and most likely earn an A or B.
This constructor takes things personally.
Doesn't give out a syllabus and presents material in a confusing way.
too much work, very tough grader, lots of assignment
This class was a very tough class but I will say Prof Noor is fair and very nice. He cares about his students and wants everyone to pass, and most importantly he wants everyone to learn. We had a take home quiz every week and he allowed us to use our notes for the final. He teaches using flowcharts, we NEVER touched a computer
too lecture heavy but nice professor. I wish it was not 100% lecture based because if you miss one class or even like 30 minutes of it, your are completely lost. He is a nice person I will say that though.
Eccentric Prof. He tells you not to buy the book and lectures from his head. He came into a few classes asking what subject matter he taught the previous week. His class started with 15 people maximum then by the last day it was only 6 if that doesn't speak volumes then idk. Be very aware!!!!!
This class makes me wish that I took the mandatory ITE class online. He does not lecture. You do your projects on your own, and you only come to class to take quizzes. Has a very stark view on the world, and class often feels tense. I am excited for this to be over with.
Ok first off class extremely lecture heavy and dull worst of all you are expected to learn HIS way of doing it and that's it so online help is useless as people do the entire design differently but he only accepts HIS WAY and that's it which is poor teaching as there is other ways to get the same outcome. Class is boring too and dose off.
Please avoid this professor. He will tell you that you are in his good hand and later makes you surprise . No book , everything is from his lecture.
Professor Noor gives homework and projects that requires you to work on for at least 5 hours a week. This is not a problem but he never teaches how to do it. So you are responsible for learning everything by yourself with a computer system. You come to class to listen to his years of work experience and take a quiz.
Don't really need the book, but you have to pay attention and take notes during class. Class takes some effort. He's pretty serious but makes a lot of jokes too. Seemed like mostly the people attending class got good grades and the ones missing classes were complaining about their grades.
Great professor, does not grade assignments but will give you feedback on what you have done right or wrong. Do the work and participate in class and you should have zero trouble. Very fair professor. Really nice and funny man as well. The tests go over everything you have learned during assignments. Nothing you will not expect to see.
Very lecture focused. He teaches everything exactly how you want to do it. Other people in the class seem to struggle because he uses specific flowcharts you can't really lookup online, but he gives thorough feedback and is always available to help. Pay attention and it is a very easy A. May be intense in lecture, but very nice in communication
I had him through zoom class, so I might be inaccurate. He responds to emails in a vague manner. He didn't share any grades till the very end of the semester, even if you ask. Which takes away your chance of dropping with a 'W' if your doing poorly. One thing that sticks is response, you don't know your stance. Makes you feel uneasy.
Get ready for work. Lecture is immense, but useful. Don't miss classes, you'll miss a lot. Lecture based, didn't really use the textbook at all. Fun class with tho, keeps the rhythm going. Make sure to participate, it really counts.
I took ITE 115 in 8 weeks. Most of the work is done in modules online. Prof. Noor is so helpful and understanding to anything you have going on. Email/talk to him and he will figure out a way to help you get a good grade. Also, he lets you turn in work late which is helpful if you are busy. I highly recommend and would 100% take his class again!!
He does not teach much but lectures for hours. Does not post grades until the end of semester.
Worst Prof ever. Didn't even teach the class. Just said do the modules and that's it. It was like he just copied and pasted another professors work and doesn't help with anything. Never again.
One of the worse professors NOVA have. Very tough grader and lecture heavy and don't provide you with grade until the end of the semester, where you have not enough time improve. IF you care about your GPA skip this Professor.
he always thinks he is right and he is dismissive to the students and very defensive when he does something wrong and someone corrects him. he doesn't even grade the homework and if you get one small thing wrong in a homework or test the whole homework is wrong and he gives you a 0
Save yourself the trouble and skip this Professor. On of the worse at Nova.
Prof Noor has mixed reviews because in Software Design he teaches his own curriculum. For some students who don't have a CS background, it's tough. For me personally I didn't find his class hard. I wish however Professor Noor was more open to criticism and improves his clarity when he writes (his english is ok). Attend lectures and try your best.
stay away from this class if you don't want to fail. professor doesn't use textbook or slides. test heavy and no feedback on homework's. very tough grader and doesn't accept late assignments.
Don't waste money on this guy. He's nice, but has serious issues with english and competence with technology. He codes on a notepad window, not a compiler. He regards no textbook or outside resources. He has no idea how to use canvas. His lectures are dry and slow. Aside from his character there is nothing redeemable about him. DO NOT TAKE
Nice guy, but has a lot of trouble teaching online. Apparently he's not allowed to download coding compilers onto his work computer so he writes the code in a whiteboard app which is slow and tedious. English isn't his first language which I don't mind, but there's quite a few spelling mistakes that make it hard to know what is intentional or not
Medium level language barrier. Codes on a white board not a compiler (very odd). Programming assignments, discussions in class, and a final programming assignment. He goes over concepts in class and makes you program along. I had prior programming knowledge so the C++ was pretty easy. Average, if there is a better option take that.
Professor Ahmad Noor is a nice person, but not an effective teacher. I would not recommend him. You have to do everything yourself. Very vague and disorganized lectures.
Overall okay class, it was INCREDIBLY easy but the grading criteria was unclear at times. A lot of the homework uses Cengage and discussion posts were due besides the exams I feel like exams could have been structured better, they had topics that were not included in our classes a lot of the time. So I'd say exams were the hardest.
I had zero C++ experience before taking this class, he doesnt use the text book, if you have a question about something he'll try his best to explain but he has a language barrier but not too terrible. quizzes and exams arent too hard. If you dont apply yourself youll get the grade you expect.
For an IT professor, I was very disappointed. He kept telling us to not drop his class and make sure to sign up for his next one. He didn't use the textbook, and made up his own test, but they didn't make sense. Doesn't answer questions. Language barrier made tests confusing. Don't recommend taking him if you don't have any programming knowledge.
Ahmad was great to work with in the fall of 2022 I enjoyed taking in the class material and doing the cengage He did encounter some IT troubles during class and was prompt to apologize and keep us informed the only con was me and a mate being threatened we would fail as we never showed up because of a lack of getting a zoom url change notice
I had Professor Noor for ITN 106 too and he is someone that genuinely cares. In his ITP 100 class, he really makes you use your brain. Unlike my other classes where I try to memorize as much as I can from a textbook. on the first day of class, he asked us questions that made us think outside the box and it absolutely humbled the arogant students
If you want an easy A, take him. All the assignments are on Cengage. Just couldn't stand the boring lectures and going straight off the PowerPoint. You'll likely end up teaching yourself. Webcams required (he even threatened to fail some students for not having their cameras). Final and midterm both on lockdown browser. Not hard, just study a lil
I took his class on zoom for ITP 100, this is a WARNING, that he only uses email to grade and send homework. His teaching methods were not very effective, he assumes you to know everything. He also gives limited homework and class work. He is a terrible instructor. Noor failed much of the class and did not present enough assignments for students.
I took his online Zoom course in Spring 2024. He is awful, he does not grade on time, and has us email our assignments to him. He often loses students' assignments because of this. You have to remind him constantly or else he won't. He also does not give feedback and is confusing. He is bad at using Zoom and is very arrogant Avoid him at all costs.
He offers no extra credit, does not round grades, does not grade on time, very mean to students, offers no help, he wants discussion but will ridicule you if you mess up. He can't spell words , he is bad at using software. He assumes you know coding. He will often give grades below a 20% because of simple mistakes. For an intro course, he is bad.
I took him for 2024 Spring ITP 100 on zoom and it was horrible. He would teach too fast, not grade homework, not answer emails and his teaching method sucked. I only have an F because he decided to not grade any of my homework or final exam. I am getting that worked out, but overall it was a mess. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WANNA PASS.
If you need to take ITN 106, choose another professor. I took his class for Spring 2024, he was very rude at students at times and expects you to know the information before he "teaches" it. All of the assignments are on Cengage and are pretty easy to do without needing to attend the class honestly. He expects your camera to be on the entire time.
Overall it was easy, I needed this class as a pre-req for radiology tech so I'm not knowledgeable in the IT field. You will need to purchase cengage and didn't seem like a harsh grader. Exams weren't difficult and it was lockdown browser but quizlet and the quizzes will help. I reached out once and got back to me quickly.
Professor Noor's ITN106 class was tough, especially if you were new to the subject. The exams tested everything, even the smallest details that were only mentioned in passing. You really had to hit the books hard. While demanding, I felt like the course ultimately improved my study habits and made me a better student.
If you're thinking of taking this professor for any course, do not go anywhere near it. He is got to be the worse professor I have taken during my NOVA career, does not listen to you no matter what. If you had emergencies and missed stuff he wouldn't care. Worse thing is if your doing bad in his course he'll drop you from the class during the end.
If you're thinking of taking this professor for any course, do not go anywhere near it. He's got to be the worse professor I've taken in my nova career. He wouldn't listen to your problems what so ever doesn't matter if you have emergencies or what he woouldn't care. worse of all, if you're doing bad in his class he will drop you at the end.
The class overall was not too bad, assignments were manageable. He is not understanding when it comes to late work or family emergencies. My grandfather had just passed away the day the final was open. I planned on taking it on the last day available. When I opened the page to take it at around 8pm he had already concluded the course.
EXAMS ARE ON HONORLOCK, SO STUDY. A lot of the assignments are deliverables from this outdated ahh textbook. Class isn't as MacOS-friendly, so you may have to do your own research to get assignments done. Doesn't grade hard at all for assignments as long as you follow directions. No late work allowed at all. Material is organized weirdly in Canvas.
He responds within a day or two to emails. Only 9 assignments in the entire semester. Exams were good if you read the slides and textbook. I found out from another class that professors don't make exams for NOVA Online. Don't know if that was the case for this class. He doesn't give extra credit for course evaluations.
