Ahmed is very enthusiastic and knowledgable. He is always ready to help and cares about his students!
Great prof. Maintains an excellent learning environment to make sure all students are on the same page. Will make sure all students know material before moving on
He is the best! Very energetic! Always willing to take extra time to explain things.
I really enjoyed his class. He's a fairly new prof I think, but he is very helpful and won't move on to a new concept unless people actually understand it. Overall - good prof.
Okay so Ahmed is what we call him in class, really cool nice guy. sometimes has these weird fits in class when everyones talking, but OVERALL really energetic and helpful tests were fair and usually straight from the textbook, take him for 1104 hes really energetic and always willing to repeat if no ones understanding!
hes a nice guy and loves the students but he has trouble explaining certain theorems.
ahmed is so nice! i havent seen a prof that would go over sumthing a bazallion times just for one student to get it, hed rather be behind the course schedule as long as his students understand whats going on. tests are okay make sure to do all excersises in the textbook very very helpful keep it up ahmed and i encourage you to take him fr 1104
Such a great prof! Really cares how students perform. He's very helpful in and out of the classroom. Doesn't want students talking in class, but who does? He really does his best to make sure everyone understands and tries to get to know his students. Take any class with him!
Ahmed is an amazing prof. He makes stats become easy, gives his best to make sure everything is understood and is always very friendly. He totally deserves his high grades on Ratemyprofessors.
He is the man. He's very fair and very helpful. He's on OUR side and wants US to do well. Highly recommend him for any class.
great prof !!!!
Hn: All profs are the same, Ha:Ahmed is different. Since Test Statistic of midterm averages are > other classes we have enough evidence to reject Hn and accept Ha. We can conclude that Ahmed isn't like the other profs, he is better due to the fact that he cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed, which is evident his section average.
I've never had, nor heard of, a prof who cares so much about his students. Would have crossed the picket lines to teach us. Wants everything to be fair and is determined for everybody to get As. Different teaching style might take a bit to get used to, but ends up being significantly better than other stats professors Get in this class at all costs
Genuinely cares for your success and you as a person. Focuses on understanding and properly prepares you for exams
Such a great and humble professor. Actually cares about his students and is a great teacher. One of my absolute favourites at Carleton!
Ahmed's a really nice guy and an excellent professor. He's sincerely interested in us students and ensures we understand the class. He also encourages us to get an A+ for the class and is really funny when he's off-topic.
I've never had a teacher who cares more about his students. He will sit with you until you completely understand the material.
He is the best prof ever. If I can take all my stats class with him I will. I didn't even need to study much for the exams because he is so good at explaining the material.
Ahmed is one of the best profs I've ever had at Carleton. He is an excellent teacher and teaches the material effectively. You will ace this course with him. He even did a review session of the entire course and stayed until 12 am, missing his o-train ride home, to help us. I highly recommend him to anyone taking stats.
Very good
His classes were very engaging. He makes you capable of participating in a huge class and you wouldn't feel embarrassed by what you don't know with him. He's very approachable, overall just a really great prof. He really cares about his students, you can tell by how hard he tries to remember our names. Just attend his office hours if you need help.
You will have to focus like never before - he speaks through the slides at a tremendous pace. I can't really blame him since he is probably bored of teaching stats lectures over and over. I really wish he would speak slower but thats just the kind of guy he is: a fast talker probably from a mega city. P.S. no one can accuse him of not caring. A+
A really nice Professors! The first professors I rate in university because he is really nice. Really standard pronouncing and he is really a responsible guy. Take his own time to help our mid term review and even cost his own money to buy chocolate reward us. He is really helpful if you want to take stat2507.
Attend Ahmed's class, don't skip a single lecture! He's kind, alert and upbeat, making the lectures very easy to recall when studying. Overall, a really outstanding prof especially for an ambiguous course that intimidates students even before the term begins. Great job, Ahmed!!
Ahmed is an awesome prof. If I saw a class he was teaching I would most likely take it as he is easy to follow and has accessible office hours. He has hosted midterm and exam review outside of class which was extremely helpful. Make sure to attend lectures as he goes over examples in class and won't post them online. He is also very funny!
Good prof. Good slides, but I recommend getting the textbook for proper understanding of the material. One thing I disliked is the fact that he gave us the midterm on a weekend, which was difficult for me because I have work. Otherwise, I'd recommend him.
Ahmed is probably the best lecturer/professor/whatever you can ask for in your university career. He is probably in love with stats and math and he'll make you love it too.
The only reason I rated this to be an easy A was because even though the content would be hard, Ahmed made it so it was fun. He really cared about the students and wanted everyone to succeed.
Ahmed is no doubt the best math / stats professor you'll ever have. You will have no trouble understanding the material if you go to class, and if you ask questions (office hour and in class). He cares for his students like no other prof you've ever had. Absolute 10/10 experience. BUT study HARD for the midterm and exam and do ALL the homework!
Prof Ahmed is very good in teaching and helping but on the other hand his Midterm and Final are extremely hard, so overall I would not recommend him at all.
Ahmed is very good in teaching and helping especially in office hours, cared about his students somuch like no other prof, BUT his midterm and final exam are extremely hard were the class average was very low, so overall I dont recommend taking any courses with him
Ahmed is a good prof in general. His lectures were decent as they mainly consisted of going over example problems. He's very sassy but it is pretty funny if you don't take him too seriously. If you can get good notes from a friend, there's no need to attend, just redo the problems from class. Pet Peeve: How inefficiently he erases the blackboard.
Very good at erasing the blackboard.
Ahmed was the only reason stats was bearable, he was super helpful and genuinely wanted us to succeed. He's one of the only good stats profs who actually does examples during class, textbook not mandatory since his examples were so good! He held midterm and exam reviews, GO TO THEM! Such a great prof, choose him for stats!(PS: very good at erasing)
Best stats prof, midterm was very fair if you went to class and redid his examples when you studied. Exam (which I don't think he wrote) was significantly more difficult, so make sure you do well on the assignments and midterm since it's 50%!
Very hard professor, his exams are always designed to fail students not teach them. He doesnt care about students and doesnt reply to emails. He sees them and ignores them no matter how serious the email is. Very tough and impolite and not very professional
Professor Ahmed was by far the best professor i ever had since i joined Carleton University. I have took two courses with this prof and he was amazing in both, his lectures are very well detailed, he is very caring and he takes time with helping his students in his office hours. He was the only prof who ever remembered my name. Honestly. Amazing.
Very good teacher. He explains very well. He will help you to get a good grade all you need is to participate and practice what he teaches.
Hes got a strong personality thats for sure. Be prepared to be talked down to and given plenty of attitude. He demands respect, which is fine, but he does not respect others all of the time
Ahmed Almaskut taught math matters well. He showed math concepts very clearly. He is a kind person. He is helpful and makes sure you understand the material. I had a great time with him.
If you go to class, you should do just fine. Ahmed cares about his students and is willing to go above and beyond for extra help and clarification. When the pandemic arose, he quickly and effectively took the class online with the same degree of quality. Math has never been a strong suit of mine, but Ahmed is a must for this class!
Ahmed was one of the best profs I had in university. I had to re-take STATS as I did not do well in the online version of the course. I sought him out because I knew he was an amazing professor - but he exceeded my expectations. Thorough lectures, fair exams, prompt email responses and the most caring prof I've ever encountered. Prepare to study!
He's alright, not that great. The guy always has a chip on his shoulder for some reason and makes a big deal out of the smallest things. Always has an attitude which gets pretty tiring after a while. He needs to focus more on teaching and less on people walking in late etc. He started taking attendance even though its not in the syllabus
Ahmed is an amazing professor. I am returning to university for a career change and haven't taken math in 10 years, but he made it very accessible and clear while giving you the tools to break down questions to be more approachable. I came in for a credit, but he's made me want to minor in stats. Attend lecture, put the work in and you'll do fine.
Ahmed radiates high school teacher energy. He cares about attendence and kicks people out who are being disruptive, but he is also caring and easily available via office hours and email. He cracks jokes, genuinely loves stats, and wants everybody to succeed in his course. He also shows how stats is relevant to all majors.
Extremely good at explaining concepts. very passionate about the class, wants you to do well.
Took this in W2020 really easy class. However the prof made it absolute torture. He whines if you don't go to class even if you're not having trouble. If you talk in class he'll kick you out like a 5 grader. He loves drama and VERY self absorbed. He'll probably read this and deny it all in class but believe me worst prof I've had by far at Carleton
Super kind
Overall a good guy. Exams were hard however. Made stats interesting.
Great STATs prof, highly recommend him. It was an online course and I thought he did an amazing job at adjusting. Live lectures and records them to refer back to. Tests are similar to assignments so there aren't really any surprises.
Ahmed is a very nice prof and cares a lot about his students. He makes stats fun and I enjoyed attending his lectures. However, some people decided to try to cheat his course and posted every test on Chegg, so he made the final exam quite difficult for the average student. Just show up to his lectures and the course shouldn't be too hard for you.
The fact that this is a heavy math class that I took from 6pm - 7:30pm twice a week and I didn't absolutely despise it says a lot about Ahmed. Material is very challenging, but Ahmed obviously cares deeply that his students succeed and makes everything very easy to follow. Also, he's absolutely hilarious!
Ahmed is the best Math/Stats prof at Carleton anyone that says otherwise have no idea what they're talking about or they simply do not try to take notes. It is crucial to take good notes in his classes to study. He should teach every math course at Carleton (him and Kyle Harvey) the way he teaches anybody without a stats background can understand.
This guy was rude all the time for no good reason. Always hated when you email him for help.
Ahmed made Stats super accessible (especially for me, a non-stats oriented person!) and was crystal clear about test/assignment expectations. Best online class delivery of my classes by far. Content can challenging, but as long as you stay on top of the material and ask Ahmed for help when needed, you should have no trouble doing well :)
Avoid this teacher!
I have taken Stats 1 before in the summer of 20. but I signed up for Stats 2 with Ahmed, and I immediately regretted it. I'm doing Business and I have no experience or knowledge of coding and his assignments are all codes. He marks you down on every detail of your work. forgot to put a Bhat as he calls it, loss 1 point
If you don't have experience with coding, wouldn't recommend. Assignments are all coding and is unfair to people who have never coded before. Fair tests but assignments are all coding which does not seem like stats.
Inconsistent. Sometimes wonderful, but hostile to students at other times. Fair at explaining concepts, but responds aggressively to many fair inquiries. Grading is also very inconsistent as marks can increase by a few full letter grades after being reviewed. Practice problems are mostly hidden behind a textbook paywall. Wouldn't highly recommend.
Ahmed is a very unique prof. He has high expectations from his students, but also provides all materials in and out of lecture to see that the students meet those expectations. If you slack, you will almost certainly fail, but if you put in the effort, you will learn stats better than from any other professor. I highly recommend Ahmed.
Ahmed is probably one of the best stats profs there is at Carleton. He has honestly made it easier for me to understand stats entirely and the class is quite easy to understand through his lectures and very detailed examples. Would highly recommend choosing him when taking 2507.
Ahmed is incredibly childish and rude. He fakes a jovial attitude but is frequently disrespectful and petty to his students. Assignments are FULL of work which is not useful for learning the class material. He cannot take criticism of this and pouts if you criticize his assignments. I have an A but I wish I had taken this with anybody else.
He's really rude and has terrible policies.
Truly wonderful classroom presence. Deadlines are really firm. I found the tests fair, coding was easy (SAS). Coding sheets+tutorials, just enter your data. Give 2 weeks to do assignments. I only needed the lecture notes. Provides a formula sheet for exam + marking sheets. Stats is precise and people did not cater to that. I find it fair and just.
Very rude and can act childish often for no reason. I can't pretend I didn't learn anything but I would suggest taking this with somebody else
His lectures are fun and engaging, make sure to attend them and take notes. Everything you need to know for assignments/tests is taught in class. The "coding" is not difficult, you take the example given, change the variable names and the numbers and that's it.
Ahmed is the GOAT of Stats, don't listen to the complaints. He is an extraordinary prof that you'll get out of more than enough just by watching his lectures. Stats may be hard for a lot of students, so if this is you, then do more than taking this course. Assignments aren't hard, since you can just use lectures to help you answer these questions.
Ahmed made is great, he breaks things down and explains them well, and I found that he moved at a good pace that didn't make me feel like he was rushing through content. My only complaint with this course is that there is multiple profs teaching it and they design tests/assignments together, so some of the wording can be a little bit confusing,
This was my second time taking this prof and he killed it yet again. Assignments were easy to do, just refer to lectures. People who give him bad ratings were just struggling during COVID. Plus, computing data using SAS code wasn't hard at all, no need to have coding experience. The grading system was conditional which can lead you to higher grades
Creates a safe & comfortable classroom environment. Provides notes and follows them during class w/ clear explanations. Lots of practice examples that are similar to test questions to help you prepare for exams. Deadlines are firm but he provides ample time to finish. Instructions are very clear & simple for SAS and assignments. Best STAT Prof!!
awful. just awful. Made the exam worth 50% of your grade and it was impossible to finish on time. I really tried and he just made it incredibly to succeed. Not worth the mental exhaustion.
Ahmed is an amazing prof. I didn't need to refer to the textbook the entire semester, I used his slides and my notes. He is super approachable if you want to discuss an assignment, test or final. He genuinely cares for his students and does everything to help them understand the material. Definitely recommend!
AVOID HIM, HIS CLASS REALLY TOXIC YOU DO NOT FEEL YOU ARE AT UNIVERSITY. HE IS SO RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL TO HIS STUDENTS. HIS EXAM IS DIFFICULT HE HAS TERRIBLE POLICIES.
Do yourself a favor and only take his class if you have no choice. I honestly always felt like he was didnt want me to excel and that I could never be a top student. Very frustrating how despite having correct answers, grading is very unfair. Lectures are fine but I didnt feel motivated at all during them.
One of the best professor I came across in Carleton. He genuinely cares for his students and wants them all to succeed in life. He teaches from scratch which is rare to find in a prof. 50% for the final is a bit too much but if you keep up with the content regularly you are good to go.
He's incredible at conveying the information you need to know. After explaining the general concepts he goes over many practice problems in class. The tests are composed of problems very similar to the ones done in class. So as long as you pay attention and do the work along with him it is very reasonable to get a good grade. Make sure to attend.
I have taken 2507 with Ahmed before and I just took 2509 in fall 2021. Not only is he super accessible for office hours via zoom but he also came to campus for in person office hours. He is super smart, knows what he is doing and he is very good at his job. His live lectures were amazing. I would highly recommend. Love him! :-)
Amazing professor, there is nothing bad I can say. He really wants people to succeed and makes himself available to help. The exam material is exactly what he says will be tested and provides you with lots of review material before the exams. He is a very fair marker and overall a fantastic prof.
Most helpful prof I have ever had here at Carleton. Would definitely recommend picking him. He is super caring and wants the best for everyone.
Ahmed is a solid choice. Only downside is you may be required to join some classes as he makes them mandatory and leaves us with no choice. That being said, his lectures are super, fun to be in and he is very good at explaining the mateiral. He knows how to be friendly and teach the content at the same time. Highly recommend.
Strongly advice against taking his class. He posted a question on a test that couldn't be solved, and instead of owning his error, he blamed his class for not being good students and spotting the issue. "technically speaking, spotting that questions in the test, was a test in itself". try to avoid him
Ahmed has difficulty understanding this course isn't the most important course for anyone, and would go into rants about how it is several times, or in rants about how he is the best professor. almost no accommodations , and if he does something wrong get ready to be blamed for it. Only take him if you don't have an alternative.
Every 2 or 3 weeks there is drama on his class. he does seem knowledgeable of the topics he is teaching.
He had a rule where if someone else spoke to you during class REGARDLESS of if you spoke to them you would be kicked out. It happened to me and its absolutely ridiculous. I can not control what others do around me and I was punished for someone else speaking to me even tho I said nothing back. I was behind because of his arrogance.
I had to drop this class last year because I fell behind and knew I couldn't catch up enough to get a good mark but for the time I was there I have to say that Ahmed was a real one. He definitely tries his best to help the students that are there to learn but you can tell he takes it personally when students don't care. It's not you Ahmed, it's me.
he flags so many innocent student for cheating. super passive aggressive. acts like he cares but really doesn't. his examinations weren't bad but he's rude. take the other prof if possible
He really cared about the success of his students, and tried to inspire us to do our best instead of taking a lower mark. But I found it hard to ask questions because I felt dumb with the dismissive way he responds. This is one of the courses you need to put the effort in but if you are ever struggling he is easily available in office hours.
He is very hard to understand. He degrade you if you ask questions. will not take him again.
Such a great prof! His office hours were super helpful, especially the in person ones. I did most of the practice questions in the textbook which were time consuming but super beneficial for the course. His enthusiasm for the subject is great and it's clear that he genuinely cares about students. He may be tough but he wants you to succeed!
best prof who actually goes out of his way to teach people in person and never takes the lazy way. highly recommend!!!!
Ahmed is the GOAT. Never left office hours until everybody was answered. Funny guy and you can tell he cares about the success of his students. His way of teaching is so good. Highly, highly recommend taking it with Prof Almaskut.
best prof ever!!
Despite mandatory lecs, hes the best professor ive ever had. definitely recommend Dr. Almaskut.
Ahmed is such a sweet and funny prof. He cares a lot about the success of his students and is always helpful during his office hours. During his lectures, every theory or topic is followed by exercises, which he covers during class while encouraging students to participate.
Ahmed has a goal, which is to attempt to make things fair for students. He does every single exercise covered within lecture notes in class as examples to encourage participation, which is something that a lot of people wish for. Not only that but he specifies most things clearly.
Ahmed is great. He encourages everybody to participate, is super good at teaching and knows how to be funny as well. He has a good heart and wants to see everybody succeed. The other stats profs in Carleton are no where nearly as good as Ahmed. 1 of a kind and is too good to be true.
Ahmed is definitely the prof that can really teach with a variety of strategies. One, he delivers topics very clearly. Second, he makes every topic feel exciting and interesting with his passion and personality. Also, he tries to show every possible method when you can solve a question with more than 1 method.
I'm surprised how 20 people have given such a low ranking in the past. He's willing to adjust his strategies in any way that's fair for students. He wants as many students to understand his course material as possible. The assignments and practice tests are very straightforward to work across. Don't see anything horrible with him at all.
He is such a nice professor. Pay attention during lecture, you are all set! He cares about us understanding and tries his best that everyone is engaged and understands the material! 100% recommended.
Ahmed is a awesome and really cares about all of his students. He has a lot of practice material in his lectures, but doesn't post the answers meaning that attendance is really important. Office hours are a great place to get answers and feedback too. The content is understandable and as long as you put in the effort to attend class you'll do well.
Definitely one of the best profs at Carleton. His lectures are straightforward. There are lots of important points in his lectures but he tries to use countless strategies to help you easily remember them. In addition, he doesn't post answers to examples but does it in class with students as an opportunity for them to collab with him!
Ahmed has a problem with making everything into highschool drama, and him being the center of the drama. We wasted a lot of time during class just talking about how he felt disrespected, and how anything that happens is everyone else's fault, but never his fault. He always says "Come talk to me", but dismisses any question "as basic". disrespectful
one of the best teachers that I have had so far. Makes the lectures very engaging and entertaining. He does care about his students. Would highly recommend!!
I wish he was teaching STAT 2509 this term, STATS 2507 in general isn't that bad and the way he teaches it makes it so easy to understand!
If you need to take STAT2507 take it with him! He's lectures are clear and crucial, never skip his lectures since it's easy to get lost even just by zoning out during class. I have no doubt that an average student will have no difficulty getting an A- in this class.
if i had to take another stat course, i would take it with him. such clear and concise explanations, and an overall nice person. apart from being a great teacher, it's also really obvious that he cares for his students and wants to see them succeed, which is rare in a university environment.
Best lecturer ever. So entertaining. You learn a lot from listening to him. Not very tech savvy so I would not want to have him online but in person he is the GOAT. Tests are tough but very fair. If you don't go to lectures you will struggle but he runs office hours twice a week and is extremely helpful and approachable. He cares about his students
Best prof ever, go to lecture and listen to him easy A
I hated this course, but that was no fault of Ahmed's. He is a fantastic professor who really does care about his students. His lectures are planned well, understandable and informative. I only did terribly in this course because I didn't focus on the class. Go to lectures, pay attention and you'll have no problem getting a good grade.
By far the best prof I've had at Carleton, he not only made stats easy to understand but made me actually want to come to class. He made class fun and he truly and genuinely cares about his students. I wish I could have him for every class I take at Carleton lol
I want Ahmed for all my classes
I wish Ahmed taught more STAT courses. He has a lively personality and a bright attitude. Willing to cover examples with students altogether and conduct review sessions to help them do well on tests. All of his lectures are super engaging.
Taking statistics with Ahmed was the best decision. He is patient and understanding. Explains things to the bits and ensures every student gets along well. I would take a stat course with him again if needed.
Professor Ahmed is the best prof I've had at Carleton. He is an extremely good lecturer, happily answers any questions, and has a sense of humor. Showing up to class will guarantee you a good grade
I love Ahmed! He is my favourite professor at Carleton. I wished he taught every single stat course since he is just amazing. If you go to his lectures and pay attention, you will have no problems doing well in this course
Just attend every lecture and take notes, he forces you to pay attention with the style of teaching he has. He really cares for his students and is funny. Hands down the best prof I've ever had so far, just try and not talk when he's teaching. He holds tests/exam review sessions which are super helpful and similar to the actual assessments.
Best university professor ever. Attended all lectures and reviews and the midterms and exams basically had identical questions. Easy A+.
Do not talk in his class. If he tells you to put your pen down and listen up, do so immediately. He wants you to excel in his class, so he expects you to do as he says. Explanations are very clear, he is easily accessible in-person or by email. He will even follow up with you by email later to ensure you really understood the material/assignment.
Simply the most engaging professor I had in my first year. Not only that but he legitimately wants each and every student to succeed. The most important thing to is write down the examples he does in class. He explains each example clearly, showing every step and it is the exact same process you have to replicate in the tests and assignments.
The professor is so kind and he actually wants you to succeed. I took this course in my first semester and found it so easy. You need to go for all the classes, take notes, and make sure you're paying attention.
He goes by material way too fast and wastes class time by yelling and lecturing at students abt their behaviour, instead of just focusing on teaching (ps. we're adults, this is not high school I bet he wouldn't be yelling at his coworkers like this if he were around his colleagues)
Best prof ever. As long as you come to learn and don't act like an entitled child you'll really get a lot out of his amazing lectures! And he always sticks around after class if you have questions!! Super helpful and caring! :-)
If you have to take STAT2507/2509, TAKE IT WITH AHMED. He is an excellent teacher and lectures are easy to follow. If you want a good grade, go to class. textbook isn't mandatory but test questions are similar so I would recommend And do your assignments, they are worth little but are good practice. Also, he's hilarious so lectures aren't boring.
MUST TAKE STAT2507 with Ahmed On top of explaining the material very well he frequently asks students if they would need more time copying down instead of rushing. He allows multiple opportunities to ask questions in class and holds office hours twice a week. He holds assessment review sessions which look very identical to the assessment.
Great stuff. Engaging, funny, and makes things easy to understand. Easily the best stats professor I've had.
I really liked him, he was super nice, willing to sit with you one-on-one until you understood everything during office hours and he was hilarious. He held exam and midterm review sessions before them, so helpful! great prof and great class
Actually made me want to go to the 8am classes
BEST PROF EVER!!! I took this class as a 1st year and it was easy to balance. I did take MDM4U so that helped a bit. Ahmed is so engaging and his sections always have the highest averages on the tests (STAT 2507 is standardized across all sections). Do NOT miss a lecture! The examples aren't posted online.
Legendary prof. He somehow manages to take such an extremely boring subject and make it somewhat interesting through his amazing lectures. Make sure you attend them as he doesnt post the practice problem solutions online and the practice problems are practically identical to the assignment and test/exam questions.
The course is kind of a boring pseudoscience and the grading is absolutely brutal, they expect you to answer questions in very specific ways, but this prof is solid and very helpful, always does his best to help people succeed.
goated prof, literally memorized every students name even if they didnt talk in class
Best prof I've had in all my first-year courses. The lectures were engaging and he really wants the best out of every student. However, do attend the lectures since a lot of the grading is based on things he only does in lectures, even if it's an 8 am. Though it's not too hard, since these were the only lectures I was somewhat excited to listen to.
Great professor and is really great at providing feedback and chances to review lessons before tests/exams
An amazing professor whose lectures were both funny and intriguing and allowed me to properly absorb the course material. When I required extra assistance, he was easily reachable at his office hours in which he was able to help me better understand things. He provided more than enough practice material, so buying the textbook was unnecessary
HE'S THE BEST! He is funny-which was important for me at 8:30 lectures, is caring and CLEARLY knows his stuff. He's willing to help with anything. Assignments, Tests and the final exam were doable if you practiced the content. The course itself was a bit bleh- felt more like copying out steps than doing math, but Ahmed made it enjoyable.
Ahmed is a very good prof. He is kind, understanding and is passionate about teaching. Nevertheless, I wished that he posted the answers to the notes online. That would have made studying that much more easier. Instead, I had to ask a friend if they had the notes, and sometimes they did not have it either. Also, the sunday tests were dreadful.
He is very charismatic. The content is not too difficult if you practice. The more practice you do the better!
Man worked at Statistics Canada before and knows his stuff! Does big review sessions (a week in advance) before the midterm tests! You have to attend every class to succeed. Don't even buy the textbook, the examples in class are enough. I took this class 1st year and if you should too if you wanna get it over with :)
One of the best profs as CU. He would do pre-midterm/exam reviews which was awesome. If you were having difficulties, he was accessible outside of class and was more than happy to offer help. Great prof, would take again.
The best stats prof at Carleton!
He's the best most caring prof I ever had!
The lectures are clear, and the material is well-explained. He's very knowledgeable and always willing to help during office hours. The course is manageable throughout the term, but the final exam was definitely tough. You'll need to stay on top of the material to do well. Overall, a good professor, but be prepared to work hard for the final!
Big W prof. Lectures are very entertaining and informative. Makes 8:30 AM class not suck. The course is pretty easy and he teaches it well.
Not only is he funny, but he is also a good teacher. His lectures are so fun to attend and pass by quickly because of the way he teaches you cant get. He knows what he is talking about. Tip: attend his class every day, attend his review sessions, and redo all the examples he covers in his lectures, and you'll easily get a good mark.
the goat. super funny. can be intimidating at first but you'll get used to it super quickly. actually kicks people out of lectures for talking. passionate about what he teaches. midterm review sections are super super helpful. make sure to attend all his classes. easy assignments. fun classes.
Prof Ahmed is amazing, couldnt have asked for a better prof for this class. I have a hard time staying awake at 8:30 but Ahmed always manages to make the class laugh and keep us engaged. So grateful to be in his class
Bro is the real G. Take Him.

He made what felt like my most boring class of the semester enjoyable! It was really a treat to arrive at his 2:30pm lectures just to see him having a laugh and trying his best to make his lectures as enjoyable as possible! He gives a lot of examples for you to understand concepts and his review sessions are a great plus to get a good grade!
Funniest prof I've ever had! He makes class fun and explains the material very well. Assignments aren't super hard and tutorials are just to explain how to use SPSS. Tests are easy if you review and do the practice he gives, and they're not cumulative. If you can, take stats with Ahmed.
Honestly one of the greatest professors I've ever had. Man's a prime example of how a good teacher can make anything seem fun
Such a great teacher. He was very funny and made me enjoy taking stats.
He doesn't post the examples for problems, so class is mandatory. However, he makes the lectures very fun, and cracks jokes a lot. It took me a while to get used to the pace of the course, but it's not bad if you put in the work. It's not an easy course, but any means, but it is 100% doable if you put the work in.
First, Ahmed was amazing in teaching. His lecture attendance is strictly mandatory. Students who never attended lectures never do well in tests & exams. He explained details clearly and least to understand.
I did an entire degree at this university and Ahmed is legitimately an extraordinary professor. He cares so much about his student's success and he will go many extra miles for you over the course of the term. His sections consistently score higher than the other STAT sections. Do yourself a favour and take his class if you can.
W prof, goated
Definitely recommend for stats courses. Material may seem tough but he can explain well and make you laugh at the same time!
Amazing professor! Really cares about his students by engaging with them and explaining material to detail with examples. Literally has office hours every week, is reachable outside of class, and even has review classes + posts notes for Tests. Carleton needs more professors like Ahmed!
Professor Almaskut was passionate about statistics and taught well, but make sure to study hard for the exam and constantly review the material, do practice a lot.
Took him the third time, but this was my first in-person with him (as I took him online during covid). Same old hilarity, very clear explanations, you'll fall in love with Ahmed. Plus he even rewarded us some chocolates for some classes. Number one rule in registering for STAT is to pick him.
Good, but had bad experience with him. Twas COVID. Wrote a mid review with details that clearly identified me, then it was addressed in the following lecture in front of the class (took personally). Without evidence, accused me of cheating. Talked to dean, found that she was given different final exam removing critical table. I was cleared. Lol.
He can teach well but WIERDLY personal. He even vents about the "beefs" he had with students who were allegedly giving attitude or not trying in his class. I get the passion but I'm gonna be frank - life to short to have vendettas: don't be one of them cause there was a couple he took personally. Honestly if were more laid back he'd be an easy 5/5.
