Professor Hashash is a really sweet man who seems to care about his students a lot, but he's just not a very good teacher. He is difficult to understand and his lectures are somewhat disorganized and hard to follow. I honestly had to learn everything outside of the class and only went to class because of in person quizzes.
I am currently (as of Fall 2022) taking Dr. Hashash. While he seems to know what he is talking about, it is hard to understand him and he teaches in a way that makes it hard to learn. He is not a good professor. The test questions can be more confusing than they need to be.
He's a knowledgeable professor but it's difficult to follow his lectures and the content of tests is more difficult than what we learn in lecture.
It was very difficult to understand him, and his lectures are very disorganized. Also very unclear on what to study and that made the tests hard. He's a super sweet person and is very intelligent, but has difficulty relaying the information in a way that students can understand.
I respect that this professor wants his students to succeed, but his teaching style makes it almost impossible. The exams directly affect your grade no matter how well you do on the assignments. I am also in tutoring for this class, and it does not help with exams because the test questions are so confusing. He does not answer emails either.
He states clear learning objectives and posts side before class; he outlines the lectors goals, chapter topic, and information covered. He starts every class reviewing the information covered last class. Tests are straight forward and asks about basic knowledge. Study the slides and use the FREE textbook to expand upon the information presented.
Professor El-Hashash is an extremely caring professor who wants you to succeed. However, he is a bit difficult to understand with his accent, so you definitely need to be paying attention during lecture. He does explain concepts well enough in class. The tests are pretty hard, so make sure to study! I did well because I had previously taken AP Bio.
A lot of people complain about his accent, cry about it. It is very possible to get an A in his class regardless of his accent. He cares about all of his students a lot. If you do the homework and read the textbook you will do fine in his class. The people that hate on him are the same people that dont study or put minimal effort into the class.
Professor Hashash is a very good professor! Although he has a pretty thick accent, he is able to convey his point in every lecture. He genuinely cares about his students and will never hesitate to help after the lecture. In my opinion, attendance is mandatory since he has quizzes every week for extra credit.
Please ignore what everyone is saying about this man! Yes he does have an accent, but he always repeats himself if there's any confusion, and he's always willing to work w his students. If you want to contact him, message him on canvas. As long as you study and put in the effort, you'll do fine. Only 1-2 hw assignments a week.
Dr.Hashash is a good professor for those who took AP/IB Biology in high school. He cares about the students and does his best to explain concepts as clearly as possible. His accent does make him harder to understand, but he's helpful outside class and gives more resources when you ask him. All his exams are 100% from the slides, SO STUDY THEM!
He does have an accent but after 2 lectures it became easy to understand him. Study the slides and you will be fine. He is a super caring professor and will always explain things if you ask. He repeats himself during lecture, so if you focus you'll be fine. The problem sets he posts are the same difficulty as on the exam.
As previously stated, thick accent that you can get used to after week 3. Tests are kinda hard, but the tip is to study the textbook along with his lectures. They're the same content, but his lectures are simpler to read, and the textbook is more organized. He has extra credit quizzes that are actually a pretty good boost. Very nice and caring guy.
He is a nice guy but not a really good professor. His lectures are very hard to pay attention too and you don't really learn you kinda have to just memorize the best for the tests. I personally would not take him again there are better bio professors out there.
Overall pretty good professor
Overall a nice guy, but honestly not a good professor. His accent makes it hard to understand what he's saying and I sat in the first row and still had a hard time understanding him.The lectures weren't difficult and neither was the homework or quizzes, but the exams looked nothing like the notes or the textbook and I had to drop because of this.
Dr. Hashash is an incredibly nice and intelligent man. His accent is not that strong and anyone who claims to not be able to understand him have probably just not met anyone foreign before. His class is easy itself as he has easy weekly problem sets, and posts everything on the slideshows. The "Pop quizzes" are extra credit and not mandatory.
Takes some getting used to with the accent, but not as unintelligible as some are making it seem. He clearly cares for us and wants us to succeed. Lecture slides are a bit crowded, so you should utilize the given textbook. Slides are posted before class and weekly problem sets are utilized to prepare for tests. Show up to class for LC extra credit.
He was one of my nicest professors especially coming straight from high school and it is very clear that he cares. But, due to his heavy accent and his sometimes less than clear lectures can make the class difficult A lot of self study has to be done. His tests are not very difficult but definitely require you to study from the posted PowerPoints.
The best intro bio prof you can have. He really cares about you as a person. He is friendly and accessible and will answer your questions until he knows that you understand them. He wants you to pass with an A and made the tests easier according to the class average. The accent is the only problem. Definitely take him for your first semester.
Take him. He wants everyone in his class to understand the material. He will explain the problem until he knows you understand it. He wants you to get an A. He made the test easier according to the class average. Easily accessible outside of class. Take him for your fist bio class.
Professor Hashash is a very caring man. He wants to see you succeed and will explain things over and over until he knows you understand. His exams are easier compared to the other Bio profs, I have never failed an exam and studied practice exams I found online, went over lectures, studied the problem sets and studying the vocab from the textbook.
He cares about his students and wants you to be successful. Reading the textbook is a great tool because it gives you a better foundation. DO NOTES BEFORE CLASS! He goes a bit fast and if you do notes before you can listen to him talk, beware he has a very thick accent so I sat in the front row!
Ahmed is a phenomenal professor. While people say his accent is a deal breaker, it's really not bad. He is such a kind soul and wants nothing but the best for his students. While he may teach slowly, his points are clear. He breaks things down for his students and is always open to questions. I 100% recommend taking him as a professor.
Although lectures are sometimes hard to understand, his tests are easier than other professors and very to the point. He does extra credit and is willing to work with you through any issues or problems you have. He cares a lot about his students and wants them to do well in the class. As long as you study for the exams a week in advance!
One of the sweetest professors I've ever had. Attendance is optional, but if you go there's once-a-week extra credit offered. I did not often attend class as I prefer to take notes from the presentation on my own (as opposed to listening to a lecture) and either way, you are able to learn easily. There are no required class fees for textbooks
Prof Hashash is so caring and obviously passionate about us as students and biology. Unfortunately, nobody who has him-including me- has been able to learn from him. Each lecture is him reading off of a very wordy slideshow. I felt like I was drowning in information all semester. If you can learn this way I highly recommend this lecture.
He is by far my most caring professor! He takes his students' success very seriously and tries his best to make sure everyone understands what is going on. A lot of people don't like that the powerpoints contain almost all the lecture material, but I found it very useful when it came time to study for a test. He loves talking to his students!
You can succeed in this class if you can self teach. Lectures are difficult to listen to and understand due to Hashash's deep accent, but he is very caring and wants you to succeed. No practice exams, but for the most part the exams were straight forward and all questions were from the slides. Extra credit offered through quizzes on random days.
I'm not a fan of the way Dr. Hashash teaches. He seems like a nice guy who knows what he is talking about, but he doesn't get it across in a way that sticks. Exams are a HUGE portion of your grade, and none of them will be dropped, nor will he round up. He doesn't provide any study guides or materials. Get ready to work HARD for a decent grade.
Smart guy, but not a good professor. PowerPoints are accessible, but are all over the place. The course is very test heavy and no study guides are provided. Did not enjoy lecture, he read directly off the slides and was hard to understand. If you can't pay attention to long mundane lectures as well as learning outside of class, I do not recommend.
Dr. Hashash is very caring and wants you to succeed. Go to his office hours to prepare for tests. The whole class is graded off of 4 tests, problem sets, and lab so do well on tests!
Very caring professor that always makes time to help students that ask for it. Tons of extra credit opportunities which helped my grade a lot. Tests also weren't too difficult as long as you study the lecture slides.
Sweetest guy ever. I sat and the front and he asked how I was before class every day. Tests are easy if you take notes and understand the fundamentals of each topic. His test questions are written to test your understanding, not your memory of irrelevant facts, which I appreciated. Easy extra credit points if you go to class. Easy homework.
Honestly, the only bad thing abt hashash was that he was a bit difficult to understand, but you adapt after a while. The homework was really easy and his tests were really as well, as long as you memorize the slides. Would recommend and take again.
Prof. El-Hashash cares so much about his students and is very willing to help you if you need it. Slides are pretty clear and he repeats himself a lot in class; he also offers a decent amount of extra credit. Your grade is heavily influenced by lab performance, so your TA's aptitude is also important. The accent takes maybe a day to get used to.
Hashash is a super sweet guy but he is not the greatest professor. He is clearly very passionate about biology and knows his stuff, but the power points were unorganized and had too much information. Definitely one of the hardest freshman biology professors.
Really good prof, hard to understand at first but gets better throughout the semester, no homework, cares about his students, tests are easy if you pay attention and take notes from the powerpoint.
Dr. Hashash is by far the worst professor I have ever had. He is extremely difficult to understand due to his thick middle-eastern accent. The lectures are ALL OVER the place. Most of the learning has to be done outside of class. Be prepared for surprise pop quizzes for extra credit - they are random and encourage you not to skip class.
Very reasonable professor. Dr. Hashash cares about his students passing and will listen to feedback to ensure he can improve. When I took his first exam of the semester it wasn't like the power points he presented so when he heard the feedback from his students he changed it dramatically and kept it strictly like his lectures. Easy class.
Overall, Dr. Hashash was terrific. He makes his own tests and his tests are almost middle-school-level exams. He cracks little funny jokes and is the most adorable and fantastic guy. Makes you enjoy biology and makes sure he emphasizes important points that will be apparent on the exam. Amazing prof. Would take him every year if I could.
Professor Hashash is a very caring professor and wants his students to do well. The lectures are based heavily on the PowerPoints, which he posts the day before class. Prepare to study a lot outside of class because theres a lot of difficult material to get through for the tests.
Such a sweet professor! Only wants the best for his students and wants them to do well on all tests and homework. Very understanding. Will help you with anything during his office hours. Make sure to study his power points and take his practice tests because he pulls questions from those.
It took a minute to get used to his thick accent but once I did I absolutely loved him. He is so caring and walks around before exams checking how you feel, giving advice, and answering questions. During lecture he gives lots of examples and tells you what to study. He also does in-class reviews before exams. The exams are pretty easy if you study.
Straight to the point lectures and exams based off lecture. Hashash is very understanding and wants you to succeed. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about biology and will drill the material in class until u get it. B/c of this, effort outside of class is useful but not necessary to do well, pls do yourself a favor and take Hashash for 112
Absolute slay of a professor. Super nice and caring. Exams are really based on the lecture slides which are easy to follow and straight to the point. Problem sets once a week are really all the homework so really no stress much. Would recommend him for everyone - 10/10 person and 10/10 professor.
Dr. Hashash is one of the best professors I have taken at A&M. His tests are extremely easy and I wish I could take him for every class ever.
TAKE HIM! Although he has a strong accent that you can get used to, he is a great professor. the tests are 40 mc questions and he does great reviews and will basically say exactly what's on the test. he gives out 30 bonus points with learning catalytic so go to class! He is very funny and will answer any questions you have!
W prof. W accent. W exams. W audio system. W problem sets. W lecture slides. W body language. W person.
Professor Hashash has been my favorite professor that I've taken a class from so far. He's so passionate about biology and his students succeeding. His teaching style and tests are very easy to comprehend. I would highly recommend him for BIOL112.
I took him for bio 111 and he was great then and great now! His exams are word for word on the problem sets AND he emphasized what info was on the exam during lecture. He is super helpful and will help with any issues regarding lecture; super nice guy and take him!
Hashash is the G.O.A.T. If you don't want to ever worry about your BIO grade, TAKE HIM. I took him for BIOL111 and was DESPERATE to get him again for BIOL112. The averages on his exams are always high and he makes it as easy as possible. He's really caring and wants every student to succeed, and taking him will make your life easier.
Prof Hashash is one of the sweetest, most caring profs on campus, but he can't teach. It's unfortunate, but his lectures are all him reading off of packed slideshows, which so much information thrown at you. If you learn well from this setting, I recommend you take this class, because it wasn't all that bad, but if you're like me and can't, don't.
SO GOOD!! Exams are very easy and if you pay attention and study its an easy A!
His exams are directly from the homework. The average from the first exam was a 96, so take from that what you will. Its practically impossible to get a B in his class. Literally read the slides and do the homework thats it. I wish he could teach all of my classes.
He is the greatest. His tests were easy, where questions came from most of his lectures, which were simple but deep, and the problem sets were great as well! If you're a future biology major student, take him!
study the words in blue on his powerpoints and you'll do fine. his exams were very easy but still made you think. made learning biology fun and you can get up to 30 extra points from learning catalytics points at the end of the semester. his accent was kinda hard to understand but i never went to class after the first exam since it was so easy
Take him! His exams were super straightforward if you attend class. He usually will give you questions in class that will be on the exam. Same with problem sets. Study his revision slides and you will be more than fine. Attend class for extra credit and your grade will skyrocket. He always was extremely encouraging and accessible outside of class.
Dr. Hashash was an absolutely amazing professor. The only reason I got the grade I did was because of personal issues, nothing that he did. His exams are from the lectures, and the homework is easy if you've paid attention. His lectures are posted online as well. His accent took a day to get used to, but he's incredibly sweet and understanding.
This man is a national treasure and must be protected. The sweetest prof ever. As for the class, very easy, the test averages were super high, ranged like 85-95, final like an 80. Can often be hard to understand in lecture so just skim the slide decks outside class and write down important highlighted stuff and you're guaranteed an A.
Take him for sure! Attending class gives you extra credit and he practically tells you what's going to be asked on the exams. Averages for each exam were super high in the 90s and he repeats questions from the homework, so do them! He's the sweetest and gave breaks during his lectures. So glad I had him and would take him again if I could!
You may be wondering why im rating him so low if I received an A, well the class is mostly easy but Hashash isn't a great prof. You have to teach yourself the info on the slides he presents in class as he just reads off them. His accent is very thick and even when I understood most of it later on I still couldn't understand some details.
One of the greatest profs ever. Isn't the strongest lecturer, but knows it and makes sure to go slowly over everything w/ lots of review. Exams straight from the lecture + lots of ec, and is super approachable for office hours. Super sweet and in office hours always begins by asking how I am and always gives good advice for my goals in education.
I got a B but it was so hard. It was like he doesn't know we have other classes to take. You have read so many slides that it is nearly impossible to memorize. I know he doesn't control lab. But lab or still horrible as it was in BIOL319.
Dr. Hashash is probably one of my favorite professors I have taken. He is extremely caring, if you have a question don't be afraid to ask! He will take the time to answer anything you may have. I highly recommend you take him! Lecture exams are not hard as long as you go to class.
He was THE BEST. Lectures were easy to understand (you get used to the accent very quickly), and he made sure to help clear any possibly muddy topics. His exams are straight forward, most of them coming from the blue highlighted slides and "if i ask you" scenarios in class. Best prof I have had! Extra credit from Learning Catalytics too.
He's a good professor, if you go to the revisions - he'll basically tell you what slides and questions are going to be the main focus of the exam. Does not seem like he has a lot of control on the logistics besides making the exams - he always says he needs to ask the department before doing stuff. THE LAB SUCKS! - only Stacy has control
He really cared about his students and his exams were very easy. I would say just go to class and pay attention, and the homework given was a bit time-consuming but doable. I would say take this prof if you want an easy semester!
Amazing professor. Exams are so easy and has LC points some classes. Exams are very straightforward and the best professor for BIOL 111 and 112.
Easiest science professor I ever had. Test are at high school reading comprehension which is very straightforward. The only reason i got a C was cause of lab.
He was a blessing while dealing with the awful lab (TA Kelechi is amazing tho). Exams were so easy. Hw for both lec and lab take a while so don't put them off last minute. Downside was grading scale was curved by only one point (ex/ 79=B). 2% of AOIs from 319 are used. Watch lab videos. Lab manual had ton of mistakes. Stacy Stoops is of no help
You can tell he cares about his students and makes explanations as simple as possible. Lab sucks but that's not something in his control. His teaching style is awesome after you understand his accent. His exams are extremely manageable, and he hosts review sessions before. He really knows what he's talking about, too.
He is the best. The only thing that hurts you during the BIOL 320 course is the lab, so you must have a good lecturer to get above a C in the class. Homework is minimum, exams are easy because he gives reviews. He is so sweet and passionate about making sure his students learn which makes his lectures interesting and the time flies by. Take him!!!
Lecture was very straightforward and the in class review included everything on the exam. There was in class extra credit this semester, but that may be a one time thing. Lab was near impossible, but the easy lecture grade balanced it out.
His lecture was very easy. It was easy to sit through and learn. The lab is the only difficult part, but it was doable. You just need to study a good amount and stay consistent. Communicate with the TAs because they know can give good advice on the practicals.
While he made the class portion manageable, he teaches at a very elementary level. If you really want to learn the material in depth, I suggest another prof. He gave 10 points of extra credit and his exam content is all from his reviews. Lab is the difficult part. The dissection videos are the best.
What a guy. My favorite person at Texas A&M University by far. Hilarious, light-hearted, and always willing to help. His exams are easy if you attempt to learn from the homework. Attend lectures and you will know exactly what you need to for the exam. He really emphasizes possible exam questions during lecture. I love him.
The best professor for anatomy at tamu. He is the sweetest man ever! His exams are easy and he emphasized what will be tested over. There is iClicker and extra credit. Lab was terrible, but he has no control over that. If you have to take A&P, take him! His lecture will offset the lab grade.
Prof. Hashash was very good, I recommend taking this course with him. His lectures are nice, and his test are very easy and heavily based on the review and iClickers. Come to class for extra credit and iClicker, these points will boost your grade. Lab sucked, the practicals were awful, per usual. He is the better prof.
Such a great professor. Super caring and wants all of his students to succeed. Really breaks down the material and makes it easy to understand. Gives study guides the class period before the exam. Offers a little bit of EC. Cannot hype him up enough. LAB SUCKS but that's not his fault
Super caring and passionate about his work, but lectures are him reading off the slides. I spent my time in lectures making quizlets and that really helped. It's not a bad class if you study well for it. There's extra credit you can get by doing a short quiz once a week but it happens at random.
Dr. Hashash is one of the best science professors I've has at A&M. He cares so much about not only the material, but the students improving overall. Biol 320 sucks no matter what, but Dr. Hashash truly tried to make it possible for students to succeed in lecture to balance out how awful lab is.
Lecture is very easy and surface level. Only thing you need to spend time doing is studying for lab. Incredibly high grade distributions for an anatomy class.
HIs lectures have built in breaks. He is very kind and the tests focus on lectured material. I think this class engaged me the most and I felt like could have included even more material because rarely was I swamped with information.
