a nice professor so far
By far one of the worse professors in the college, not only is he arogant but he finds it hard to take his time and explain to a student because he is always on the run. His grading methods are by far the worse, and unfair. Don't take him.
He is a strange man, but by far a good professor. He is willing to listen. review notes and you will be fine. He talkes fast, you he is cool.
He does talk fast, but he is very willing to help anyone who needs it. Just let him know when you have a problem and try not to be too negative or else he'll think you don't care. Pretty good teacher.
excellent professor, know A LOT. Put some effort in and you will truly learn. This man is a real mathematician and not just a hack, definitely take him.
he made physics SO much easier than how it was taught as my high school. he's a very good professor and definitly made physics understandable.
rakki is the best professor that i has taken in this semester..he has alot knowledge of math and science.and i m thinking to take psysics with him next semester.
Rakki is a very good professors. He knows alot about physics and maths. Tries to explain to every single student who is willing to learn. Most of the time gives pre-test and explains it. If he knows that u r trying to learn but have problem, still u get B even if u dont do well in the class. He has one problem and that is HE GIVES FAVOR TO GIRLS,
the best proff. i have ever taken in my life.take him he is very helpfull to the students and tasts are very easy
Rakki is in love with Newton. He knows a lot.He wants every one to learn what he is talking about. If you take him,you will learn a lot. This guy is too much,He knows a lot and so so down to earth.BUT if you are only looking for a good grade dont take him.And If you show interest and try hard,he likes that.
Rakki was the bomb teacher..he made everything so much easier. If there was something you didnt understand if u just asked he would help,he would go over and over it till you understand.
He is great prof. He knows his stuff. Also I like his teaching system.
The best Math teacher I've seen. I came in without Pre-Cal and I'm doing fine. He is seriously the best teacher in that school.
He teaches good. However he plays a lot of fevertism.he likes the students who suck up to him.
He is by far the best teacher they have in the MAth/Phy departmnet in HCCC. Take him beacuse he really teaches good and is really helpfull to all students who show an interest towards the subject. If you wanna leearn take Prof. Rakki.
Rakki is the best professor in Phy. He makes the classes really easy, if you study and do you work , you could past with an A+. For Calcullus ,he is a good proffesor too. Take him.
He is a best teacher i ever had. he is very helpful. he knows his subject very well.
HIS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR.HE IS VERY SMART AND HE KNOWZ WHATS HE TALKIN ABOUT.VERY FAIR WITH GRADING.I LEARNED A LOT FROM HIM
he is really nice and smart. He knows a lot. I like the way he teasches.
Excellent professor. Very fair and helpful. Extremely intelligent and kind.
Very clear, knows what he is talking about
Very knowlegdgeable about subject. Easygoing and helpful. Nice personality.
He is really helpful and teaches the material in a very understanding way. He is really cool. by far the coolest ive had.
he is the best prof. ever i had in math.. the guy is really cool and he is very passionate about what he teaches which make the class very intersting. he is hot and very nice to girls and he really takes good care of the good students.
Absolutely the best Math and Physics teacher ever. He makes difficult concepts very clear, and will explain it in different ways until everyone gets it. He takes things slow in the beginning to make sure everyone gets the basics. He is also very fair with grading, if he knows you're trying hard, he'll give you a good grade.
He is an amazing professor! Taking for Calculus, Physics or anything he is teaching. He is always willing to help the students. Fair grader, just show interest and don't be affraid to ask if you are not clear about anything. He is one of a kind.
He is one of a kind, excellent professor, good personality, intelligent, good grader.... you can't ask for a better math professor than him.... I recommend him to everyone, even if you are bad in the subject.... no one fails....
I recommend him to anyone, even if you are bad in the subject.... no one fails.... You really learn, he is very helpful and knows a lot about the subject... don't be afraid to ask...
I highly recommend him to anyone, even if you are bad in the subject.... no one fails.... He is exellent
This professor gives good explanation making the class easy to understand. He seems arrogant at first but then you get use to him. Simply just the best math professor...
He is the one of the best professors I have ever had, and I have had some great professor at another university. I had no interest in math whatsoever, but after the first day with him I saw the beauty in Algebra. It was like an inside look at the workings of the Universe. He made me understand the importance of it all. Very clear explainations.
I LOVE Prof. Rakki!!! He is the best teacher in the world. He is extremly understanding and fair. Prior to taking his class I was afraid of Algebra, but Prof. Rakki makes it clear and fun. he is great. We need more teachers like him. I love you Prof. Rakki!!
i had physical science with him he is mad easy no homework at all he helps u if u need it. DONT BUY THE BOOK FOR THIS CLASS CAUSE HE DOESNT USE IT!!! HE IS SUPER HOT !!!
Are you talking about Prof. Rakki. you must be confusing him with an other stupid professor. I had him in precalculus he is more understanding, and takes the time to listen to questions. He is just the best.
YES- I did confuse him with another Professor, my apologies! So sorry. This Professor, is indeed one of the nicest people I have ever met although I never had him. RAZA is the rudest person I have ever met! He should be gone!
had for calculus. thought he was great. taking again for physics. so long as you show interest and are willing to try he is very fair.
BEST PROFESSOR IN HUDSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The best professor I have ever had. Interesting, engaging, extremely knowledgeable, very helpful. I looked forward to his classes every day.
VERYEASY, FUN, HELPFUL, PROFESSIONAL, KNOWS WHAT HE TEACHES,SMART,GOOD, DOES NOT GIVE HOMEWORK BUT YOU SHOULD DO SOME PROBLEMS FROM THE BOOK BY YOURSELF IT HELPS DURING THE TEST. YOU SHOULD TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO JUST GET AN 'A'.:)
Eh, He's a really smart Guy and students love him. However i'm not so fond of his teachings. He goes to fast and tries to teach but you don't really learn. I know that he knows what he's doing but the point is for me to know too. That didn't really happen. Still got a B+. Just goes to show how much he cares bout grading you. If you show up you pass
he is the best
"He's a really smart Guy and students love him. However i'm not so fond of his teachings. He goes to fast and tries to teach but you don't really learn. I know that he knows what he's doing but the point is for me to know too. That didn't really happen. Still got a B+." +1, For easy grade, take him. If you want to prepare for advance classes, dont
I am speaking from my personal experience. This guy is the worst professor I have ever had in my entire school career! He was indifferent and condescending towards me, and he did not know how to teach! He treats introductory, undergraduate-level students like they are graduate-level, or even worse, like they're his peers!! Avoid at all costs!
Prof Rakki is an amazing professor. Participation in his class is a must because that's where most of your grade comes from. Some things are easy to learn and some aren't, but that's how all classes are. Everybody should take him.
He's a good professor. He is very nice and very attentive with the students. The only thing I don't like about him is that he expect you to know it already even you are just starting to learn it. You just need to ask a lot of question if you didn't understand you he was teaching at the moment. Homeworks are good as practice for exams.
Professor Rakki is a cool Professor. He has a great sense of humor to keep the class from sleeping. I passed his class with a C but he is one of the easiest Cal teacher at HCCC. For those who struggle in math, take him and you will pass.
Hes a great professor. But if you are actually trying to learn calc and already are having difficulty understanding it to begin with, then Dont bother. Hes really fast pace and not the best at actually TEACHING. Hes does all the problems and material but at the end if u learned anything or didnt, everyone passes, C or B tops , rarely any A
go to him and read the book before going to class, You will get a good grade
He is a very smart person. He explains very fast so go prepare to his lectures. He would try to explain in an easy way but GO PREPARE!!! I would definitely take his class again just for the fact he knows what he is teaching.
Worse professor out there. Do not recommend taking this class.
Just finished having him for a winter class, best math teacher I've ever had in my entire life. I personally hate and lack total interest in math, but the class was fun and his method of showing you the logic behind concepts really gave me a different perspective towards the subject even if I still do not care for it. Goes out of his way to help.
I used to think Math was created with the sole mission of torturing students. However, after I took Professor Rakki this past winter I understood that math is more than numbers and formulas. I improved a lot thanks to Professor Rakki, I still don't believe I passed, but I'm really thankful with Professor Rakki. Sending all my blessings to him...
Professor Rakki, is excellent at explaining, math problems, he is very patient with students, when they ask quetions, he replys. He is positive in the class, and that keep the class from being boring. Actully time fly so fast. My own opinion, math need effort and practice, you cant depend on your professor to do your work for you. Good luck.
Do not recommend. Horrible.
Do not recommend. Horrible. Take another perrson for physics. Not good.
The way he explains doesn't go with students level, he is always explaining high level math, and homeworks are very diffecult to solve!
Big respect for this professor. He really knows what he is teaching. He likes to help students and make it easy for them, but some students take it for granted.
rakki is a very caring person. he realized i was struggling in his class and i didnt think i would pass. after speaking with me regarding my issues, he helped me pass the class. very great human being. that being said, he really knows what hes talking about and expects you to learn/participate. suggest taking him only if you've had him for pre-calc
I had him for engineering physics with the hope learn but I finally withdrew from the class. His classes are very fast pace and he did not present the material in a way that makes it easy for students to learn. Your grade doesn't depend on how you performed during the tests but on how you interact with him. you want to learn please don't take him.
He is one of the most amazing professors at HCCC. He is interactive, caring, and a knowledgeable person. I took 2 Honors courses (Physics-1 & Calculus-1) with him and he made it very interesting & simple for us. He also provides review for exams and is always available to help his students. It depends on one's effort but he is an easy A professor.
what a smart and respectful Professor. He is knowledgeable, friendly ,and willing to help his students. I feel sad for those students who take this Big Man for granted. I strongly recommend him if you really want to learn especially physics.
best professor .
Good professor. Gets very comfortable with the students. Just dont like how he gets too comfortable. Im sure Im not the only one that noticed.
Professor Rakki is intelligent respectable and inspirational. Take his class if you want to learn physics.
As some other people have alluded to, he's incredibly inappropriate with students. He likes to give people backrubs, unasked for. It makes for a very uncomfortable class and he doesn't seem to realize or care how he's making people feel. Expect lots of touching if you take his class. He shouldn't be teaching at this or any other school.
Don't even bother taking his class if you like mathematics or physics. First, he cannot teach or focus on whatever he is doing. Second, he will ONLY pass students that he likes. No matter how smart you are, he will give you a bad grade if he does not like you. Third, he will never grade or give back ANY exam you take in his class.
Never ask any question because he will LITERALLY ignore you. Try to speak after class and he will run away. He goes fast in the class, so if you have not taken math prior to this class forget about it.
Take his class if you DO NOT defend the value of education. He will literally give his students a 30 minutes break every class, he will go down to his office at least 5 times during class, and you won't learn from him at all. Exams are hard and he doesn't even prepare his students for the exams.
His classes are disorganized and you won't learn from him.
Do yourself a favor and drop the class before it's too late because you'll save yourself from the amount of stress.
Expect lots of touching if you take his class.
Your grade doesn't depend on how you performed during the tests but on how you interact with him. You want to learn please don't take him.
Don't take his class if you want to learn.
His lectures are confusing, meaning that he does not come prepared on what lessons to talk about and how to continue on the flow of talking about a chapter. HE NEVER REVIEWS.
He is unclear and you will easily get confused if you are not paying attention, taking notes, and studying on your own.
One of the worst classes I have ever taken! His ways of explaining things are terrible and not very clear.
Absolutely terrible. The worst teacher one could understand possibly have. Does not help at all, insults intelligence. He is disrespectful to his students. Avoid this class at all costs, no matter what. Even if it's your last semester.
Take him if you are ready to waste your time. Lessons are dry and sleepy with all the information I have read in the book at home already. No illustration, no pictures, no powerpoint. I could pass his class by learning on my own because I knew calculus before.
Horrible professor with a condescending attitude towards students. Always on his phone and talking to himself in class. He doesn't care if students learn.
This professor does not know how to teach. Before a test he gives us a set of problems to study from and when it comes to the test he puts completely different questions. Hard to understand and just very weird. He also has conversations with himself while he is teaching. True story.
He goes really fast, basically writes as if he's solving the problem to himself. He gives you examples to do then leaves for a long period of time. He comes back and dismisses the class & NEVER goes over the examples he just gave. Don't take class with him!
He does not teach. The lectures bored me to sleep and I could barely understand him. He skips through a lot of material because he knows it BUT WE DON'T!
Drink a lot of coffee before class...
DON'T EVER TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!
This professor can be difficult BUT if you show up to class and try to pay attention you will see that this professor is a great guy. Majority of people have a problem b/c his teaching style isn't something they are used to. You just have to go to lecture then go home and read the textbook to learn like a class at every other university.
If you cannot be independent enough to look at the material yourself then do not take him. But if you go the extra mile to understand things outside of class you should be fine. He is a great and caring guy. You can tell that he truly loves physics and he is a very smart man. People who claim he is a "terrible" professor really hasn't seen one yet.
Rakki is a great professor but his teaching style takes some getting used to. Do not take his course if you skip class, if you don't read the textbook, if you don't do work outside of class. But if you want a professor that is caring, fun to talk with outside of class, and will support you, Rakki's the man! Plus he's French which is always a plus
AWESOME & CARING PROFESSOR! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! GREATEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! TEACHES SO WELL! I was never a fan of physics until I met him! SWEETEST GUY! Lectures are a little long but its totally worth it! If you study the questions he gives and understands his lectures than you should do very good in this class!
BEST PROFESSOR AT HCCC! TRUE GEM! If you are not taking his course you are missing out in life! He teaches so well! He has so much knowledge and makes sure the students understand everything! VERY CARING AND NICE!
Love him! His Class is the best! Not so easy not so hard, just perfect! Highly recommend!
He is the best professor I ever had. His way of teaching is different than others but if you see in his point of view, you will find his class very interesting. The best thing about him is that, he knows the history behind each formula. His class gets very interesting when he talks about the application of physics in the whole universe.
Amazing! I luv this guy! Hes the best professor I have ever had in my entire life! I learned so much! Best in the world.
I looked up Rocky on Google and it corrected me to Rakki. Because that's how awesome he is.
He is cool but he is too touchy!!! Makes you feel uncomfortable. Hes always asking questions to females in class and gets too close and touchy. If you like personal space and to be respected then dont take his class. Currently dropping it because of how uncomfortable i felt. His class is short and he is always late. Its an easy class but no....
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS AS AN ONLINE CLASS !!!! HE IS NEVER AVAILABLE. HE BARELY ANSWER HIS EMAILS. HE REFUSES TO TELL YOU HIS OFFICE HOURS. HE TELLS YOU TO CALL OR TEXT HIM BUT HE NEVERS ANSWERS. JUST AVOID TAKING HIM FOR AN ONLINE CLASS.
If you want to learn math, you are better off with a different professor. Rakki is cool and all but he's all over the place. We only took two tests for the whole semester and we never got them back, nor did he give a review. Self teach yourself for the tests you'll be fine and pass, but don't expect a grade that makes sense.
If you arent comfortable asking questions in class or attending office hours, do not take this professor. Moves through the lesson way too fast without explaining any of the steps to the solution of examples. Must have a strong knowledge of prerequisites to do well.
Really awful. Literally paying tuition so this guy can barely interact, despite multiple attempts in trying to initiate a productive dialog. I'm studying constantly and get no feedback or anything. Avoid at all costs.
If you want to really learn calculus, it's best to avoid Rakki. His grading is really unclear and there's only like 2 tests all semester. I guess as long as you stay on his good side, don't cheat, and make some type of efffort, he'll pass you with some random grade. Just really make sure that he sees that you're trying and putting in effort
TRUST ME, STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUDE. he is unorganized, unprofessional, doesn't respond to emails. This is not just me, this is my entire class. IF you want to pass Calc 1, take anyone other than Ahmed Rakki in HCCC.
Personally I need to learn Calculus II but unfortunately I didn't learn anything at all due to Rakki's incompetence. Yes I understand things have moved online so it's more difficult for both sides, but, the professor just rambles about nonsense and rarely spend 5 mins on a problem. I show up for attendance but I have to teach myself everything.
If you want to actually learn and care about your GPA I suggest you DO NOT take this professor. The guy is awful never checks the homework so you don't even have to stress that. The lectures are unclear and he never answers emails so don't bother. He also likes to smoke cigarettes through remote online classes. He takes months to grade your tests.
incoming all freshman, you are welcome....TAKE HIM
Rakki is very good at math but he is a terrible professor. He does not really go over how to solve problems and is very all over the place during lectures. He grades randomly so, as long as you stay on his good side, you'll probably pass. He also doesnt check hw/exams so dont stress over it. Overall, I pretty much learned nothing in this class
I remember this guy. I took both Calculus 1 & Engineering physics 1 and I failed both miserably . I transferred to Raritan valley community college and got my associates degree in mathematics. Till this day I remember rakki. What a nightmare that still haunts me. He's intelligent but his style of teaching sets many students up for failure.
I took both calc 2 and calc 3 with Rakki over 2 summers. I am writing this because I learned so little in those two classes, I forgot that I even took them. I did absolutely nothing and he gave me an A both times because he liked me. He gave us zero exams in calc 2 and 1 easy final in calc 3. Easy A classes
I took him in 2013-2014 for engineering physics 1 and calculus 1 and calculus 2. He doesn't know how to teach. He teaches students as if they are phd experts and should know what to do. My memory is not clear but I remember he was all over the place in topics, he wasn't structured like computer science professors & he bullies struggling students.
Professor Rakki is a professor who knows his stuff. He can name and explain any mathematical theorem. However, his teaching methods aren't meant to help students succeed. You'll likely end up teaching yourself most, if not all, of the course. There isn't any assigned homework, and there are few in-class assignments.
Professor Rakki is very knowledgeable about the subject and does not need a textbook to explain anything in the course. However, he can jump from chapter to chapter and then go back to a different chapter. There isn't really a clear structure. You'll end up teaching yourself most of the course if you can't keep up with the lectures.
