Atrocious class to say the least, I took fluids over the summer and did well but didn't pass because of homework. Took this class with Ahmet and he was extremely vague, absolutely no help at all when you ask questions, and he would blast personal emails from students in class! Extremely tough, super vague, DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!
Took Ozbay for space systems concepts. He doesn't follow the book so good luck trying to study or follow along outside of class. His notes can be helpful but not reliable. The material he covers is ENTIRELY and 100% a propulsion course. There is NOTHING conceptual about this class. heavy heavy math. Study as much as you can for tests to pass.
gives quizzes every week and makes you work for those. gives pretty good feedback when you ask your questions always available for office hours really organized on webcourses and prepares note for each class that he uploads on webcourses awesome lectures and he cares about his students i would take him again
Diverse content. Go to lectures, guy makes it pretty clear what he wants you to know to succeed. content will seem overwhelming if you miss class and don't know where to look. Also a good guy in general who gives engaging lectures and offers enthusiastic help at open office hours.
His actual lectures are great, usually finished within an hour. We had a final project which he let us start 3 months early. The actual lab portion was pretty tough and tedious, but Ahmet wasn't involved with that.
Basically don't need the book. He has an accent so beware. Everything you need to know will come from him and his lectures in class.
I took Ozbay for Fluids, Space Systems, Design of Aero Exper, and Fund of Aero. His style was the same in all of them. Go to class (pop quizzes), pay attention and take notes (hes known to use material he only covered in class). His classes are hard, but if you pay attention, he is a great lecturer and you will learn alot.
I had Ozbay for fluids and aerodynamics. His accent is not a problem. He is a good lecturer and emphasizes the material that you can expect on tests. If you aren't 'thin skinned' you will likely find him humorous. His class may seem hard but you will like him when you see your final grade. Now get this man that chili pepper
Excellent professor who wants students to succeed and gives good lectures. He does a great job of making the material easy to understand. My only complaint is that I would have learned more if the problems from the test reviews were posted as the material was covered, rather than the week before the test, when it can be stressful trying to cram.
Dr. Ozbay is probably the best professor I've ever had. He is here to teach us, not grade us, and I can promise you will learn a lot if you pay attention. You will easily pass the class with an A if you know the material. If you don't know it, go see him. The only issue I can think of is the time constraint of tests, which he is aware of.
He's kind of narcissistic. But I did learn how to use several programs bc of this class and even though he made it seem like we were all going to fail at one point, he made a good grade obtainable by the end of the semester. Don't complain about how he distributes points because he will be petty about it.
Ozbay is definitely a Tsundere. He will act all harsh and critical in lecture, but when you get him one on one you can tell he cares a lot whether or not you pass his class. He really goes far in trying to help everyone succeed and he spends a lot of time in his office waiting for students to come ask him for help. 10 out of 10 great professor.
The best professor I've had. He fosters actual understanding of the material, and knows the stuff inside and out. Projects throughout the class will familiarize you with useful programs. His tests are difficult, but straightforward. Always accessible. Generous with final grades. He may seem harsh, but he just wants everyone to learn.
He will be very harsh on everyone in lecture. He does it to make sure you understand everything. If you go to his office hours afterwards he will prove that he really cares. He wants you to study to learn and not to study to pass.
EVENTUALLY, you'll learn a lot from him. Professor Ozbay is a very nice professor, he cares about what you can learn both in and out of the class. Pros: Caring about students; learn most aero knowledge from software simulations; preparing you for industry; good communications Cons: handwriting unreadable; unorganized webcourse study materials.
Hands down one of the harder professors I've taken, but doable. He's a little aggressive at first, but you get used to it. He does not follow a textbook, its straight from his brain, so you need to make sure to take notes. Most of the grades comes from projects and quizzes, as his exams are really difficult. Practice the study sets/material alot!
Ozbay is a great professor. He really wants you to pass the class and will help in any way he can. Definitely requires a bit of work but he wants to make sure the engineers that take his class are competent.
You'll be fine if you can deal with a light accent and take notes real-time. Unfortunately, I learn visually and through books. He doesn't follow the book at all or use any power point slides, and his handwriting/drawings are unreadable. There are nearly no resources to catch up if you missed something in class. He is a good speaker though.
This is my 2nd time having Ozbay, and I dislike him. Prepare for extremely hard tests where he lies about the number of questions (he said there would only be 3-4 questions on the first exam but there were 6), and long lectures. If you had him for fluids, do NOT take him for funds of aero if you don't want to spend half of the semester reviewing.
He teaches by drawing on his tablet which can very illegible. The only resource to learn is through his lecture. He does not delve into too many examples and most of class is spent deriving formulas so most people have a hard time on the test. The average for our midterm was about 40%. You will study for hours and still not pass.
Absolutely horrendous and inconsiderate of students' time. His lectures consist of unorganized rants and his notes are unintelligible. The exams take too long for the time allotted and cover topics not discussed in class. To top it off, he decided to triple the amount of lectures per week because of his inefficiency. Reflects poorly on UCF and MAE.
Our lecture times are MWF and 50 minutes each lecture. Ozbay somehow interpreted that as 1 hour 30 min lectures everyday. Some days he will lecture at 8:30 am and other days at 12pm, or whatever he pleases. He is extremely disorganized and his tests are impossible as he doesnt cover any examples in class. He only does derivations of formulas.
He is one of the worser instructors I have had at UCF. Problems on the test do not match what he teaches whatsoever. He expects you to be an expert at the subject matter without teaching to that standard. He tries to counteract his inefficient teaching style by adding additional lectures and making the lectures longer.
Dont let the 5/5 ratings fool you. All of Ozbays classes are unnecessarily more difficult than they need to be. Taking one Ozbay class is like taking 3 classes, if you take into account how many hours you will spend studying and reviewing and still not do well. Its not the students fault. He does not at all prepare you to do well on his exams.
Reschedules classes and adds lectures. Tells you at 1 AM if it'll change. lectures where 1.5-2 hours long even though lecture is supposed to be 50 min 3 days a week. lots of "quizzes" due next class, and projects that take hours. You're forced to do extra credit to pass cause midterm is impossible (42% average). also doesn't follow books or notes.
At times Dr. Ozbay lectured everyday with 1 and a half hour lectures. He tries to criticize the students by saying we get too comfortable and that we will have a hard time when classes start in person to deflect the blame from him and his inability to lecture effectively. He assigns useful projects, but he is extremely disorganized overall.
Professor Ozbay is one of the worst professors Ive had at UCF. He is kind of rude in class, you cant read his handwriting, tests are based on material that doesnt line up with what he teaches. Lots of pop quizzes And projects. If I had had the option to take another professor I would have.
One of the rudest and egotistical Professors Ive ever had. Does not respect his students at all. This has been one of the most stressful experiences Ive had at UCF as there are constantly assignments due at short notice. Dr. Ozbay constantly reschedules his lectures and extends them to double their original time as if hes helping us. Avoid him.
A very disrespectful professor
Ozbay is the professor everyone hates taking but is appreciated afterwards. You will learn a lot of material that will help in future courses. He makes you realize how much you don't know and what fundamentals you need to work on to be a successful engineer. Exam averages are low but it is still possible to get an A if you put in REAL effort.
Ozbay is one of the most difficult professors I've had but you learn so much it is absolutely worth it. If you want an easy class avoid Ozbay but if you want to actually learn material Ozbay is the best. The projects are interesting but you probably will fail the exams and quizzes. Although the class is difficult it is near impossible to fail.
A lot of people give Dr. Ozbay praise for his difficulty, but this is difficulty brought upon by his inefficiency, unnecessary workload, unfair exams, and lack of professionalism, not by the material content which he is terrible at teaching. Do not confuse a challenging course with a poorly taught course because of the "difficulty."
Dr. Ozbay is the most inefficient lecturer at UCF. Good teachers make content seem less difficult than it is. Ozbay does the opposite, and sometimes acts like the students are too dumb to understand him, whereas he is too ineffective at explaining. He gets mad when we ask him a question but then gets mad when we dont ask questions. Unprofessional.
One of the best professors you can get within this program. He goes in depth with his lectures and provides more then what youre paying for. He comes off strong as he makes you earn your grade, but he truly cares and if you show effort its an easy pass. Exams are ROUGH but he gives many opportunities for easy points. Take him if you want to learn
Some of these reviews have to be satire. You will learn how to decipher 5-year-old doodles and rants. His inefficiency and overall inability to organize the class are what makes it difficult. Be prepared for doubled or tripled class times rescheduled at 2 AM. You could learn more by just reading a textbook. Enormous ego to top it off.
Ozbay repeats the same thing over and over because he cannot explain it right the first. Has got to be one of the worst classes Ive taken. His handwriting is unreadable and his attitude is even worse. Class is easy to pass, but that doesnt forgive his inability to teach. Lectures were twice as long and everyday to make up for his incompetence.
The extra lectures were annoying at times and there were a ton of assignments and projects to do which felt taxing but I can say this. His class is one where effort is duly rewarded but also one where a lack of effort is punished severely. If this scares you, you shouldn't take him. But if you truly want to learn aerodynamics, this is your guy.
As others have said, you'll learn very little considering the insane amount of lectures (way above the scheduled times). His lectures could be condensed into 30 minutes twice a week if he knew how to explain things well. It's like watching a child explain a movie. Brags about how his class is like taking 3 classes. Unreasonable and unprofessional.
"Yeah, this class is poorly taught and you'll fail the exams, but just do three times the expected workload due to his inefficiency, listen to his unintelligible rants, and you'll be fine! Greatest professor ever!" - Every Positive Reviewer. Wouldn't be surprised if the man himself writes these. His ego has shown to go to great lengths.
Straight up said that those of us who work or do research should not take his class because itll be like taking multiple. This pride in being a hard professor is counterproductive for everyone. Loves to waste your time by repeating himself over and over, and ultimately only taught 3 weeks of actual aerodynamics. Truly disgraceful.
Ozbay didn't make it easy. He changed class times up to the minute before class, added extra classes, gave us lots of quizzes (HW) back to back to back, didnt provide solutions afterwards, no solutions to practice sets, and his tests are BRUTAL. But you will enjoy his 3 projects, (XFLR5, XFOIL, FLUENT). He was never clear about grade but I got an A
I've learned more through Prof Ozbay's lectures than any other professor at UCF. I've had him for 4 classes (undergrad and graduate). Don't worry about your grade. 80% of students will get A & B. The exams are hard but most of your grade comes from the homework/project which he explains well. If you know how to put in work you will get an A.
One of the best professors at UCF. Do all the hw/projects and lab reports and u will be fine. Exams are challenging. He challenges us to think as engineers. Listen and participate in lectures. Go to office hours. He really cares about his students. My recommendation for him is to write more and do more examples. I learned a lot in his class.
Professor Ozbay cares about his students and the learning process. He does give assignments for easy points and a high grade, however the opportunity to learn comprehensively about aerospace subjects is evident in his lectures. My advice is to record lectures for review on the conceptual exam questions and to attend office hours for projects.
Complains about students and how we don't do enough etc. rather than going over material. He likes projects more so that's cool, but programs used get thrown at you, and doesn't spend the time to teach them, and doesn't he remember a lot of how to use them. In all, we had minimal learning from him directly, I refuse to take another class with him.
I criticized him during the EAS3101 Aero saga. But I feel like Ozbay is kind of like a "misunderstood child". Perhaps it's culture clash, perhaps it is ego. I don't think he necessarily means bad whichever it is. However, at times it does come off as self-righteousness. I wish he would move past the Aero and bad review stuff. He's good otherwise.
I took Dr. Ozbay for two classes this semester, and he is sensational. His exams are difficult, but he makes it clear they will be. I have never had a professor who is available 20 hours a week, and more than willing to help you with any problem or question you bring to him. You will learn more in one of his classes than others combined.
Ozbay is a mixed bag. He's very lecture-oriented and has no required textbook. He also spends a lot of time just talking with no written notes at all. If you learn by listening, you'll like him. He's very available and gives all semester to complete assignments.
One of the best lecturers at UCF. His classes are extremely lecture heavy, he does not post notes for this class and there are no textbook so attendance is pretty much mandatory. You have to put an effort to fail his class, his exams are open notes and usually questions similar to assignment or quiz questions. Highly recommend!
Ozbay starts the semester off seeming intimidating and claiming his class is hard, but it's just to scare people into studying. If you attend class (lectures are rly important), complete his assignments, and reach out to him when you have questions, you're golden. For fluids, his point-based grades made it almost impossible to fail.
Learned a lot in this class. Lectures are a must. Really wants you to understand and ask the right questions. An intro to orbital mechanics and maneuvers, a bit in-depth of satellite systems, and goes in-depth about liquid propulsion. Trust the process and don't worry so much about your grade. You'll be glad you took the class with him in the end.
Honestly was a pretty good professor. If you do the assigned projects and do them well you will pass the class no problem. He grades off points collected rather than percentage which is nice but never gives you a clear idea of how many points are needed until the end which kinda sucks. He really just wants you to learn and does that through fear
Dr. Ozbay is tough, but really just want to make sure you learn and getting an A or B is not difficult. He gives the best lectures of any professor and also gives quizzes in class which are not hard. Exams are difficult. Projects make up most of your grade. Attend class, do the projects, and show your face in office hours and you'll be fine.
Ozbay is extremely knowledgeable and you WILL learn a lot. Homework is not graded but it is HARD as well as the exams. Do well on the Ansys projects as that will help your final grade a lot. This man will make your semester hellish, but you are going to learn so much that you won't even mind failing his class if it comes to that tbh.
Can't say I know much Fluid Mechanics past the basic concepts. Tests were made to be failed so the class didn't have much motive to study for them. easy to pass if you put in enough hours since most of your grade can be determined by doing the projects and group quizzes. Tells his students you're going to fail for the first half of the semester
Very tough class and will warn you about failing his tests. You will fail them, but it is nothing to worry about as the projects and pop quizzes will heavily boost your grade. Don't worry about your canvas grade, you will pass the class. Ozbay is a very caring professor and I encourage you to talk to him after class to get to know him better.
Space Systems is hands down the best tech elective you can take if you are interested in spacecraft. Touches upon liquid rocket propulsion, orbital mechanics, rocket equation, and satellite systems. Don't worry about your canvas grade throughout the class and you will most likely fail the exams. Ozbay is upfront about saying you will all pass.
Probably one of the more difficult classes I have taken, but probably the easiest A I have ever gotten in an engineering class too. Tets are difficult and require creative thinking, but your grade can be achieved mostly off of the projects and quizzes/assignments alone. You have nothing to worry about as long as you do your work. Would recommend.
He just wants you to learn. Would much rather you learn than worry about grades. Class gade will be low until end of semester but just stick with it and he will reward your effort.
Said don't wait until the last minute to get our projects done, yet he's grading our projects just before grades are due. It's unfair to tell your students "Points are what matters in my class" but not allow us the opportunity to see why we are losing them. If I could see why I lost points in between projects, I would know better on how he grades.
Ozbay is harsh but kind. Yeah it was a bit frustrating waiting for grades to get put in, but he was pretty lenient on the difficulty of our exams in comparison to other semesters. You can tell he means well for students to try to understand fluid mech versus us worrying about passing grades. Downside to me is that the exam are weighed heavy.
Ozbay is very much a tough love professor, class is difficult but he genuinely wants you to meet his expectations. Enjoyable lectures and felt like I learned a good amount from them. The projects were a good application of the material, but the lack of a clear rubric and the excessive time it took to grade them made it difficult to correct mistakes
Great professor! I took this class over the Summer and he was always there for office hours, go to him! He is there to help you! His exams are difficult, but study, put in the time, do all the study sets, review all his lectures, online lectures, and ask questions in class. The class is doable, put in the time! I LEARNED A LOT from this professor!
I want to love this professor, cause he really is a cool guy, but his teaching style does not work well for me. The lectures are just him writing down formulas. I wish he would do practice problems in class, but I understand since this class meets once a week hes trying to provide all the formulas we need, but this sucks.
Def learnt a good amt but I wish he slows down to make it easy to digest the material.
Opinion on Ozbay is forever changing. Overall I think Ozbay is a good guy. I think he has good intentions, teaching style is a bit intense (fast), but he seems to really care what he teaches. I do wish things were posted to canvas in a more timely manner for the course material resources. Best advice is just try your best, and reach out for help.
Dr. Ozbay is a gem in the MAE department. My favorite professor at UCF. The worst thing about him is just how long he takes to grade. But his grading scale is very kind, 90/130 for an A. You'll likely not ace the exams but you'll still get an A or B overall if you do the work. Office hours are in the atrium. DO NOT SKIP CLASS, YOU WILL FAIL.
I've had Ozbay for 3 classes, easily my favorite professor. Don't be intimidated by him, he always acts tough at the start, but that's just because he wants you to push yourself. He really does care, if you pay attention and put in the work you'll be fine. His grading scale is also super forgiving, even if you bomb the exams you can still get an A.
Had him for two classes now. His lecture style is very go with the flow, no true lesson plan or structure. Notes are rarely posted online. However, he is very good at emphasizing the concepts and making sure you learn everything. Your exam grades might give you a heart attack, but almost no one fails his classes due to the points grading system.
No textbook. He rarely posted notes but I like how he teaches. He wouldn't mind backtracking the concepts or equations, just to make you understand better. Exams were tricky. The first answer will be used for the rest. The good thing was he was always there to help. In short, he was a great teacher. He wants you to learn, and he cares about that.
No textbook but great lectures. He wouldn't mind backtracking concepts or equations to help you understand better. Not many HW. Exams were tricky because the first answer would be used for the rest. The projects were interesting. He was always there to help. Great and kind teacher. He wants you to learn, and he cares about that.
Greatest professor ever GOAT
Very "tough love" teaching style. I dislike his lectures because everything is seemingly straight from his mind with no structure. You learn a lot but he makes you stress for your grade more than any professor will. People like him because he can be funny but his teaching method is sloppy and punishing. He's also very lazy when it comes to grading.
Had him for multiple classes and strongly dislike his organization. His "office hours" are him walking in the atrium so its really a free for all with the other students from his classes, advising, and senior design. Beyond that, you will never reach him because he hates it when students email him. Hes a fun character but difficult to get help from
Raw, authentic, interesting, and engaging lectures. Dr. Ozbay is extremely knowledgeable on his topics, and genuinely cares if his students learn. It was refreshing to have a truly difficult course that was difficult for the right reasons. Its not about the grade you get, its about the material. Very conceptual and math heavy; still interesting.
Ok professor but he is horrible for mixed-mode. Tough Grader, expect to fail exams but his point scale is super lenient so you will likely still have an A. Spent 8 weeks on fluids review which wasn't fun.
the g.o.a.t
This is the worst professor I have ever taken. Bragged about the fact that most student fail his exams. While this is a very interesting class, and you can learn a lot, Dr. Ozbay does his best to fail you it seems. He does not post any lecture notes, and there was a pop quiz at the end of the semester, beware. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.
Great lecturer and very knowledgeable professor that will do his best to explain the subject in depth. You will learn a lot from taking his classes, but you will struggle. He's an incredibly tough grader, offering no partial, and can be intimidating at times, but his class is structured so that if you put in the work you will pass.
Horrendous professor. Constantly changes up what he says. He convinces everyone they will fail; in reality, all the content is familiar, and he doesn't teach any math. He teaches concepts and doesn't back them up with math or examples. Also, he said, "I have no empathy for students." Has the potential to be good, but his attitude is toxic.
Ozbay gets a bad reputation for his harsh grading and unique lecture style, but beyond that he makes himself available to help students and understands how to make students learn on a fundamental level. You may fail your midterms and maybe your final, but you will come out of it better. For his first time teaching Propulsion he has done a great job
He want his students to learn... but he throws you to the wolves. All the projects he tell you to google how to use the Ansys program. I think we only had 1 HW assignment, 4 Ansys fluent projects, and a "pop quiz" that would be worth 15% of our grade he teased the entire semester that never happened. You will be traumatized into learning fluids.
If you want to have a solid understanding of the material, take Ozbay. People avoid him and talk poorly because his exams are notoriously hard, but you will feel very prepared for future coursework after his class. Does us a favor by making us learn CFD (which you can put on your resume!!!). I never forget what I've learned in his classes.
If you're interested in actually learning the material and are willing to put in the work you will not regret taking this class. In my opinion hes an amazing professor, cares about his students, very lenient grading scale, and I learned a ton in this class. Highly recommend
Only assignments were 4 time consuming simulation projects and 2 impossible tests that you have to be perfect on to get credit for.
I made an account just so I could rate him. People hate the fact that he's tough and that his teaching style is weird but honestly out of all the engineering lecturers, he makes class the most fun and interesting. The material is hard because it is and he doesn't sugarcoat the material, you will actually learn in this class if you care.
Honestly can't believe I payed MONEY to get belittle by a professor. Called us stupid and always told us we were going to fail his class. Anyone can be smart, which he definitely is, but not everyone can be a teacher, and I can confidently say that he is the worst I have ever had here at UCF. I hope he reads this even tho it won't change anything.
How does he still have a job here?
Awful professor
Who let this man into a classroom.
Grading was unfair and lacked transparency. Most students waited until semester's end for grades, while ONE student received prompt grading by professor himself. TAs were slow, gave no project feedback, and offered no chance to contest grades. Midterm was on the withdrawal deadline, and exams had no partial credit, making the course frustrating.
What sets Dr. Ozbay apart is that he truly cares if his students learn. He doesn't just post slides, he explains concepts clearly and pushes you to stay engaged. His class isn't “easy,” but it's fair. If you show up and put in the effort, you'll understand the material and succeed. The only professor I've had where I genuinely learned the subject.
It's a hard class, and he is definitely a tough grader, but he is good imo.
I would genuinely die for this professor he actually knows the material and will teach at the speed of students rather than a text book. If you can't pass his class it's definitely a personal issue
Professor Ozbay may come off as tough but he genuinely cares about his students and their success. His classes aren't easy, but you'll truly learn the material which is something that's lacking in many other MAE classes. He delivers quality, and I highly recommend taking him if you want to be successful in the future.
The class was a bit disorganized, and final grades weren't released until the end, which was very frustrating. Projects weighed heavily, so failing tests was common. Exams had no partial credit, and the summer pace felt rushed, making it very hard to keep up.
Ozbay is a very tough love professor with group projects ft. Ansys, hard as hell tests, and an overall goal to make you learn the material. Despite averaging 24% on the midterm and final, I ended up with a C+ and could have gotten higher if I had practiced more problems, which he provides plenty of examples on webcourses and heavy theory in class.
Great professor felt like I learned a lot in this class. Exams are difficult but doable, group projects on ANSYS, and lenient grading scale. Keep up with the class and stay engaged and you will learn and pass easily.
The exams will make you lose hope in the class, but rest assured you will pass if you put in the effort. Ozbay is an engaging professor who cares about his students. Attend his office hours, pay attention to lectures, keep up with his projects/assignments, study hard for the finals - you will do just fine.
Perhaps the least organized class I've ever taken. Today is the last day this class and I do not know any of my assignment grades. A quiz that never happened was teased the whole semester. Prof gives help on exams in class, so ADA students testing outside have a disadvantage. Terrible class to take over summer. Maybe would be better in fall/spring.
If you want to secure an engineering position after graduation, please consider taking his class.
This class is very disorganized. Most grades weren't entered until after the final. That being said, Dr. Ozbay does teach concepts well. It is bothersome that he does not solve problems fully. You will fail every test but pass the class. He comes off as a bit arrogant, but he does care about his students. He gave 10 points of extra credit.
Decent Professor. Definitely slow to grade which is frustrating and tests are very difficult. Despite being fast and sometimes disorganized his lectures are very good and important so be sure to attend. Put in effort into the projects, study material, and extra problems and you'll be fine. Worth the frustration if you truly want to learn
Good lectures, NEED to show up. Exams are made to be very tough, but wont define the grade. You have to do well on the assignments such as Fluent projects and homework. When exam grades go in, it will seem all hope is lost, but grade scale is very lenient and the there are plenty of bonus points available. Even if it seems you wont pass, you will.
Professor Ozbay can be a bit difficult at times but is fair when it comes to grades. The course is based off a point system. There is no partial credit on exams thus why his exam averages are so low. This is replaced with projects/Homework/Quizes to earn points for your grade. This Lectures make up most of his content he does post extra resources.
I was scared to take his class because of all the reviews but I would take a class with him again. You learn a lot by going to class and he keeps the lectures interesting. He goes very fast so take pictures and write down any questions you have to look them up afterwards. If you genuinely try, you'll pass. The material is hard but not impossible.
Excellent prof, though very intimidating. This class requires effort, but it's more than fair. Class has ~120 pts up for grabs, and 90 pts is an A. Homework and Ansys Fluent projects are free points. Tests are harder, but if you know your stuff, you'll do fine (MANAGE YOUR TIME WELL). Grading was abysmally slow, but that's largely the TAs' fault.
He's an amazing professor who shows the reality of what you know rather than what you think you know. He is a tough grader and his exams seem difficult but they aren't if you paid attention to his lectures and practice the material. Most students get upset cause its not an easy grade and you need to put effort but wish he would teach highspeed.
Very passionate guy and you can tell he really loves aerodynamics, but extremely difficult exams. I got lucky with my class: he decided not to give a final and to give a final project instead. While it is doable, be wary, since those projects do take FOREVER (with no direction or rubric) and are on random softwares that is tough to learn.
Arguably the best professor I've had at UCF. Yes, exams are very hard, but there are many points up for grabs. Regardless, you will learn more by taking this professor than any other professor, if you are willing to learn. Dr. Ozbay does a fantastic job of preparing his students for industry; I think every MAE student should take him at least once.
Ozbay is the GOAT. Anyone who says otherwise just has a skill issue. Best professor I've had at UCF by a long shot. Class is hard, but he is super fair with grades. Don't worry if your exam average is like 40% if you do the work, you'll pass.
Dr. Ozbay is a very caring and passionate professor. The way he structures this class, you are guaranteed to get an A or A- as long as you put in effort. He started using UCF here for quiz attendance, so make sure you come to class. You will fail his tests, but you will get points back from everything else. I learned a lot this semester.
I had the luxury of fluids with him the semester before and it tied in super well for aerodynamics as most of the beginning is that. You probably will fail the exams, but keep on, do the work and don't slack. The best way to succeed in the class is to listen to his words and use what he does post on canvas. PLEASE show up to class.
Cares a lot about his students and his lectures. You kinda get out what you put in with his classes. If you want to find him outside class, he is easily accessible and loves to provide help. Don't worry about your % grade; focus on total points, complete your assignments, and attend class!
Lectures are amazing! He wants you to really understand the content, and explains it very thoroughly. Unfortunately when he starts grading he goes on hard power trips. But if you put in the work on the projects and make sure you understand the content, just ignore your grade until its finally in the gradebook and you'll be just fine.
