Lots of essays but a sweet little guy
sesis statement and porpuse! this man is very hard to understand and nobody I know did well in his class.
i dont like him. u cant understand him. he will never miss a class and he is an EXTREMELY hard grader. the best grade in his class is usually a B and we do sooo much more work than the other CC2 classes(15 page paper assigned with a couple weeks notice
This man is ridiculous. He grades harder than any teacher I have ever had and everyone is doing poorly in his class. He assigns a 15 page research paper with about two weeks notice on a difficult topic (i.e. solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict).
you cant understand what he says half the time and the other half of the time what he says is totally unrelated to what you are learning. I have never in my life been given a 15 page papper out line annotated bib and presentation w/only 2 weeks to prepare
Han is crazy. Dismiss the fact the he's really smart and nice, the class is one pain in the neck. Half the time, its like..aw..Han your so funny and easy...next its YOU #$#$# ****. Dont take him, but dont AVOID him.
Hard to understand. Says for example alot even though u dont really get anything from the examples. Class is meaningless and essays are on horrendous topics. Nice guy though. and funny too.
not nearly as hard as everyone says, u just need to show u put effort into ur essays, very nice too
Dr. Han is very good professor. He probably is much harder in his comp classes but in Chinese, he is an easy grader.
He has good intentions but you can't understand him a lot of the time. His essays are on topics that no one knows about and there is no info. on. Hard grader. I wouldn't recommend taking him if you can avoid it.
Very hard grader. His essay topics are very hard and are on topics that make you write horrible things about your country. I think he may be a Communist. Listen to Rage Against the Machine while doing your essays and you'll do fine.
He's an exceptionally nice professor. He's very helpful and eager to answer questions. I highly recommend taking Chinese 1 with him.
Teaches chinese and comp which is basically an english 101 course. Does anyone else see a conflict of interest?????????
wow han is pretty crazy. he is nice but thinks comp is my only class, the way he assigns work. hardass grader on a weird scale. you will never just know what he wants. boring as all hell. bad pronunciation of words. avoid. at all costs.
Han leaves no room for improvement in different areas of writing. It seems that Han hates the United States, and while taking his class I found that everyone else had an easier time. His grading scale is nuts
Nice guy, but he never gives you a grade on your papers. He tells you what's wrong with it, but no actual grade. Kinda hard to tell how you're doing withotu a grade
Wasn't very clear about how to raise my grade and almost failed me (Got an A in Comp II). Wound up passing me with a C. Shows favoritism; he let a Chinese student from his ESL class pass despite a total lack of English skill.
English is Dr. Han's second language. He is so difficult to understand. He is very interested in politics and government, so all of the essay topics are political and he is a very harsh grader. His class is horrible.
Dr. Han is a horrible teacher: DON'T TAKE HIM! Interested in politics, all of the essays assigned are based on arguing political issues. Dr. Han is very hard to understand and teaught me nothing. He's a horrible grader and is not helpful in explanations
Han is a very very nice man, however he is very difficult. He expects a lot out of you, and gives you a different paper every week. However, he does let you rewrite them. He's nice, but very hard.
The worst teacher I've had at Rowan. Not helpful, barely unserstandable. And at the end of the year curves all the grades to prevent the entire class from failing which would have happened otherwise. My entire class complained to the department, nothing was done. Avoid at all costs.
A very nice professor, although I don't believe that Composition I should be a course he teaches. However, he is always available for help, and does care about his students.
He is a very, very hard grader. You don't know what your grade is throughout the entire class. Also, gives the worst essay assignments ever...I can't ssay it enough that he is a HARD GRADER.
Mr. Han is the only good teacher at Rowan. I don't know what all of you are complaining about. He speaks English quite well, better than those that have responded, and he knows his grammar. He's also nice and leniant. The only reason you probably don't like him is because you're not smart
han very nice teacher wont let you fail no matter what.....all around good guy
i took his class 2 years ago and still have night mares about it the man is an idiot and i honestly cant belive anyone in their right mind would like him. I am an english major and his class was impossible let me write a paper solving the arab isralie conflict do not take himever
yes i guess he would teach chinese well since he speaks it better than english. The ratings for that class shouldnt factor in he is the worst teacher i have ever had in my whole life if you take him willingly you have suicidal ideation issues
Hes an English teacher that can't even speak english! Terrible essay topics. He made me write a 15 page paper on the conflict between China and Taiwan...Absolutely terrible and after much effort I got a C-..DO NOT TAKE HIM
He hardly speaks english. Very boring. Doesn't explain anything well. Horrible topics. I zoned out basically the whole class. He repeats himself over and over again.

Dr. Han is a very polite, nice guy, but as a prof., he is awful. Every other CC2 class gets to pick a research topic themselves... he makes his classes pick a horrible stupid topic. I'm a Bio major and had to write about the situation involving taiwan, china, and the USA. THe class blows. do not take him. i am warning you.STAY AWAY
Han was a good teacher to me. I made him laugh which is probably why we got a long but he is very helpful. And helps you do get your work done. Easiest class ever.
Dr. Han stressed the information about the portfolio to a limited extent. While all the other classes were working on revisions throughout the year, he never mentioned them once. All I have to say is follow the portfolio guide as strictly as you possibly can and you'll be alright.
Horrible, do not take. Makes papers about the most ridiculous topics, that should not interest anyone of our age. Grades very low. A nice man yes. But i will say, a very poor professor. I do not believe a writing class should be graded on your opinions on world topics like China and Taiwan.
I liked Dr. Han. I admit, his topics are a little non-traditional (sweat shops, lobbying, china/taiwan foreign policy), but the point of the class is to learn to research. The topics are meant to be unknown or students wouldn't research. If you like to learn, his helpfulness and kindness make the class enjoyable.
Had Han about 10 years ago for CC1. He spoke very limited English. As you could imagine, it's hard to learn "English Composition" from someone who dosen't really speak it.
Nice guy, a little hard to understand what the meanings of the sayings he gives you because he gives you like 4 meanings for 1 word. But over all nice and easy teacher, just show up and try and you will be ok. Also he never minds meeting up with a student after class or having an e-mail chat over what you missed during the class.
I couldn't understand a thing this man said. He said he studyed English in England but they obviously never taught him how to talk. He is helpful however when you set up an appoinment with him, that is if you can understand him.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! HE IS A HORRIBLE PROFESSOR WHO DOES NOT CLARIFY ANYTHINGAND HE IS NOT FLEXIBLE OR UNDERSTANDING! DOES NOT LET STUDENTS PICK TOPICS FOR PAPERS AND HIS TOPICS ARE RELATIVELY INSIGNIFICANT FOR ANY COLLEGE STUDENT...WHO WANTS TO WRITE A PAPER ABOUT TIAWANESE FORIEGN POLICY??
Nice guy and understanding. I enjoyed his class very much and would deff. take him again if I could!
Has alot of information but goes about getting it across to you completely wrong. Asssigns mostly busy work that you don't even learn anything from. You write a 250 word journal before everyclass and are supposed to read a full chapter for either every class or between 2 classes.G ives horrible topics for papers and is extremely dry.
Id try to stay away from Han. He's an extremely nice guy but at many times it's hard to understand him. Also when my friends in other classes were doing their research papers on interesting stuff I was stuck writing about which foreign policy the US should take in regard to China. The class is boring and pretty redundant.
He is very hard to understand, broken english. Gives ridicilous amount of work and papers not relavant to any person in america. Not fun at all. Hard to get by if you know nothing about china. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
Very nice and easy teacher. I don't know why everyone is saying they don't like him or he's to hard. I found his class to be fun and I learned about another country. Just show up and try and you get nothing lower then a B. I would love to take his class again!
One of the HARDEST A's I've had to work for. Compared to other CCII classes, a lot of work was required to be done in what felt like limited time. He's a nice man, but made the class impossible to enjoy. Don't take this class with him if you don't have to. Save yourself the unnecessary stress.
dr han is not as hard a grader as everyone says. he stuck to a certain formula: you wrote a paper, had it peer-reviewed, handed in the revised version next class. he gave it back to you and you were welcome to revise as many times as you wanted before you put it in your portfolio. he was very helpful and you got extra credit for attendance.
Worst teacher at Rowan. He is hard to understand and is a very hard grader. If you are a good student, pay attention and work hard, and go for extra help, you will still get a bad grade. AVOID TAKING!!!
Dr. Han is one of the nicest professors you will ever meet. He cares a lot about his students and you can tell he is a genuine person. However, I had trouble staying awake in his class. It can get so boring at times. I hated waking up in the morning going to class. He is not hard and he gives you many chances to revise your essays.
He is actually good.
Nice guy, but he shouldn't be teaching English Composition.
he means well, but he talks A LOT and gets really boring
Dr. Han is very easy going and always willing to meet in order to revise essays. Makes you revise essays more than 2 times. Cannot miss more than 3 classes or he deducts a letter grade. Can get away without buying a textbook most of the time, i just shared. No final or midterm. Makes you hand in a portfolio for CC1 and a final research paper in cc2
Dr. Han is universally boring. There is no two ways about that. However if you hand in work early for his edits, or have an obsession with America-China relations, you will do very well in the class. Perfect attendance does result in a five point boost to your final grade.
Dr. Han is a very nice guy, he just is extremely boring. He makes you do around 2-3 drafts on papers and if you don't do them he doesn't give you as good as a grade. I like him as a person but he isn't a great professor.
he is a nice guy and tries to be helpful but basically he's wasting his time because you can never please him anyway. Ridiculously hard grader. NO ONE in my class got higher than a 70 on their first drafts. His class is a lot harder than other CCII classes. Take another professor if you can.
I had him for Elementary Chinese I and he is amazing. Don't be discouraged from taking Chinese because of his comp class. He speaks English very well and is one of the nicest teachers I've ever met. The school makes Elementary Chinese I very easy so that students do not get discouraged from taking Chinese II.
Hard to understand, unorganized and gives lectures that don't relate to what you are writing. Essay topics are ridiculous. Barely learned anything.
Took him for CC2 also. Makes you rewrite papers many times. Hard to understand but not difficult to pull out a decent grade if you just keep writing drafts of your paper and meeting him in his office.
I had him for comp 1, he doesn't speak english very well. He says 'thesis statement' 20 times a class, but pronounces it 'seesis statement. It's really annoying. Nobody in the class ever knew what the assignments were, and he was confused a lot. he would say 1 thing and 5 minutes later contradict himself.
just do your work and meet with him to revise your essays and you will get a B
I dont even know what to say. Not a bad guy at all but its so boring!Youll somehow have fun in the class. Just do all your work and revise the essays and you should get a B.
What can I say... i went to class i revised the essays but I still didn't get higher than a C-.. I was a A+ student in English before college and now I have a professor telling me I can't write? He is understandable usually but I just found his class difficult even though I actually liked the subject. Others had no problem, very subjective
Had him for comp 1, super super boring but as long as you have a general understanding of essay topics you will be just fine.
I got a B+ in his class and I still don't like him. He is a nice guy but really shouldn't be teaching. If you can take someone else
Very supportive and enthusiastic about teaching Chinese. He made me really interested in a language I previously didn't care much for. He gives you plenty of practice and makes you really feel like you can speak the language.
Professor Han is a nice man, but not such a good professor. He assigns a lot of essays, and you're expected to write journals on the reading, which comes to 25 journals on top of the 6 essays. All the classes consist of him lecturing, and it can become very boring. It gets so boring that many people leave throughout the class. No technology policy
Expect to be challenged in this class and receive a decent work load for a comp 2 class. His lectures are very long and too in depth. He has a strict no technology policy (he will take off points from your grade without telling you). Positive: he allows students to speak their mind. Has unclear explanations and strict about the syllabus.
I guess it is a different case if you take his chinese course compared to his other classes, but he was a huge help. what i didnt like about his class is that his midterm and final are oral and sound nothing like how the words are spelled which gave me a really hard time. Just show up to class, participate and you will pass
He's a great teacher. He's straight from China, so you know that the Chinese taught to you is correct. He also has a funny side
Always check rate my professor before taking classes even as freshmen! Didn't bother to check for him & TOTALLY REGRET. Had him for CC1, VERY TOUGH GRADER ON ESSAYS. Went to writing center & they said my essay was good but I never got above a B- on my essays. Wonder if others passed in my class. FOR COLLEGE COMP CLASSES AVOID HIM I'M WARNING U NOW.
This dude tried teaching us Chinese the first day of class. No one EVER knows what he's talking about, and he will tell you you're wrong no matter what you say. He'll spend the entire class rambling about useless things, and you'll be trying so hard to keep your eyes open. DO NOT take his class!!
Had him for CCII. Very confusing and never knew what he wanted. Nobody participates in class and it awkward sometimes.
He's a very good professor for Chinese. He is very understanding and is very clear in lectures. It's a fun class to be in and I would recommend him (for Chinese only).
This is absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had in all my years of being a student. He doesn't know what he is talking about and he is so unorganized. Not to mention there is 2 essays due a week plus journal entries, he grades everything so tough and he just sucks really don't take this class idk how he has a job here.
Do. Not. Take. This. Class. You will regret it. He is the toughest grader and no matter how hard you work on his essays if he doesn't like you he will fail you.
Although he seems nice, he doesn't know what he is doing. He will assign something and not tell you what you are even supposed to do. He is very vague, does not answer the questions you have, and very confusing. There is actually a group chat for our class to ask what is going on, but none of us really have any idea.
Pretty much never know what you need to do because he never gives a straight answer. I pretty much bs'ed most of the time because he doesn't give instructions but expects you to know what he wants. Try to write in the same opinion as him, he's one of those teachers. Go to every class, perfect attendance boosts you up a grade letter.
He is a harsh grader and isn't specific when it comes to the feedback that he gives. As long as you show up to every class and participate, you'll receive 5pts added to your grade and a 100% on CP. As long as you do everything that is required for his class, you'll pass with a C but the essays is what matters most in which he grades the harshest.
Had him for college comp 1. My essays aren't that great but I get an A- in the class. If you have perfect attendance, he will give you one letter grade higher so I originally had a B+. He gave lots of feedback on papers. This is college so don't expect an easy A.
Had him for CompI. Essay topics are uninteresting and tough to write about if you're not previously educated on the topics. He tends to be unclear on directions, due dates, and what he's actually looking for in writing style. He does not put in grades until the very end of the semester, so you don't even know if you pass the class until it's over.
Dr. Han is a chill, friendly professor and he's there to help you. He made learning Chinese much less intimidating. The classes can get repetitive, but it means you get a lot of practice. Be prepared to hold conversations with everyone in your class. Not a lot of graded work or work in general. Offers extra credit on the midterm and final.
Dr Han is super lecture heavy and makes a 75 minute class seem like multiple hours. His rubrics are very unclear and I have watched classmates who were excellent writers barely get Cs. He is not easily accessible and managed to make my whole class dread a whole semester of CC1. Do not take Dr Han!
I have to say, this professor is one of the worst I've ever had. -Waste the first 30 minutes of class talking about random stuff -Would be fine if his lecture was useful but it can be summarized in 5 sentences - Does not answer questions properly in class -Does not post any grades till the very end -VERY repetitive in lectures
never will i take him again
Dr. Han is a very nice person and wants you to do well in his class; however, this was easily the worst course my entire semester. The class is incredibly lecture heavy as Dr. Han talks the entire class. There are lots of writing assignments and each essay prompt is incredibly vague. Grading is very tough as well
if you're reading this because you took him, I'm so sorry. this guy was unbearable all semester. Heavy lectures of you responding to non sense questions. His grading is his opinion based, if he doesn't like your opinion on an argument ya getting a D. there's like 20 English comp teachers available @ rowan, take this guy as a last option. 0/10.
Dr. Han is never clear with what he wants from you. It is difficult to get a 5/5 on an assignment, and his lectures are crazy boring. He makes a 1 hour and 15 minute class feel like 5 hours, and it is a constant dread to go to his class. DO NOT take Dr. Han.
If you end up having Dr. Han, PLEASE switch professors. I have never, ever hated a class more in my life. He is not helpful at all, and tried to fail me for "being absent too many times" when I attended every single lecture. I walked into that class every day filled with dream and despair just at the thought of seeing him. So PLEASE save yourselves
Professor Han's lectures consist of rambling on for 45 minutes about extremely abstract writing concepts and then 30 minutes of analyzing a text and having every student read their answer out loud. The final essay prompts are on what you have learned over the semester, which is difficult to answer when you've learned nothing.
