A great teacher. If you have to take a science class, take her's.
Very helpful professor. Approachable, very interested in her students, very knowledgable in all areas of Geography. She loves to surf. I highly recommend her.
good teacher
Great teacher, she is youthful and every energetic (when she is not tired.) I totally recommend her!
Great teacher, easy test. Easy class to get an A in
one of the coolest teacher by far in my college expereince. easy class. interesting subject. HOT TEACHER!
Everything's lectures
She's a really cool teacher. Just don't be late to class!! It's an easy class too-- if you know your material. She grades easy too. Recommended.
VERY ATTRACTIVE TEACHER. EASY JUST STUDY YOUR NOTED FROM LECTURE. ONLT TAKES ROLL 10 TIMES IN THE SEMESTER. VERY EASY GOING.
A funny, kind, and cool professor to take for sure. Class is not hard at all. We take notes from power point and have a few exams. Exams are not hard. Just study the notes she give you.
best teacher i ever had
MUST TAKE!!!! She's the best! She's so nice and she cares! Class is easy. No HW! The grade is just based on 3 easy tests!
HARD & BORING!!!!!!! the extra credit was easy in the end, but the tests are extremely hard, u have to do alot of reading in the book and the lectures too, well she is a bore!!!!! poor girl!!
Always late; boring, zzzzzzzzz, suggest you take another class.
Cultural geography...cool subject...cool teacher. No homework. 3 easy teasts then the final. Pretty hot too.
SHES OK, NOT THE BEST BUT OK. HER VOICE IS SO MONO TONE. GOT AN "A" DUE TO GROUP WORK. NOT TO CLEAR ON INSTRUCTIONS ON LABS BUT GOT BY WITH THE HELP OF OTHERS, THANKS GUYS. ;)
VERY COOL TEACHER BUT A LOT OF MEMORIZATION, IF YOU PLAN ON GETTING AN A WITHOUT CRACKING OPEN THE BOOK KEEP DREAMING...HAVE FUN WITH THOSE MAPS!
She is really nice but it seems that she only knows what she HAS to know! For ex. I would ask her a question (that i already knew the answer to but to see if i was right) about a certain subject she would say, "Oh really? Yeah..i don't know!" But she is good in terms of pace and she makes you feel comfortable.
Straight forward teacher. Memorizing countries and rivers are the only hard thing about the class. She's cool and has a cute 18 year old look to her.
Easiest class I ever took. You really don't need to read the textbook to get an A. I ever had a class where the prof extra credit before but she gives a LOT, over 35 pts. The maps were fun and easy. Basically, you sit there and she spoon feeds you everything. You can get an A in your sleep. EASY.

she's a good instructor becuz he laughs a lot and i thought she was hot by the way she dressed...like a surfer....
Hott!! yeah he had my attention
VERY HOT TEACHER!!! this class is too easy I slept through most of it and still passed it with a B+

EASY teacher, curved tests and final grades. just memorize the maps. dont need to read the book, you dont even need the book! just study notes! easy A.
She's smokin' hot and she knows it. Type of personality that makes her popular with both guys and gals.
Best teacher ever! Always willing to help and the class is so interesting
She's AWEFUL!! don't take her! she's the worst... NOT! haha Mindes is the best.. she totally rocks! do I now get my A Ms. Mindes? :D She answers any questions and you can really tell that she enjoys what she does.. and she is the cutest little thing!(^_^*) I can't see anyone not liking her
I end up getting a C in her class and I didn't even try. I hate science and at the end I did my best to pass. I slacked it off and didn't even read the book. Just memorize the maps and you will be find. This class was easy though, overall recommend her. And man she is beautiful, I guess I was looking at her most of the semester than doing my work.
Mindes was really cool and approachable. She missed a couple classes which was cool.Recommend this teacher
Very good teacher. Explains the topics well and is extremly approachable if something is not understood. Her personality definitly makes the class interesting not to mention all the slides she shows from places she's been. I highly recommend her class!!
I took her 101 and Lab online. Its works because there are only 2 due dates. You have to pace yourself. I liked her powerpoints but you can't view your tests to see your mistakes and that makes the cummulative final harder. The curve is steep and she gives chances for extra credit. Take this class if you can't be on campus.
took her online class. different between online and lecture is remembering the map. online class doesnt need to memorize the map. for me online is easier than lecture. if take it online, just read through the note which can get from the Internet, then ull get A.
Not very helpful. She really dosen't explain the information. You basically have to teach yourself and on quiz time the questions are really opposite of what you learned.
A fun class. She shows lots of pictures in her lectures. You learn about culture and maps.
Take her. This teacher is easy-going but wants you to learn. I took her cultural geography also and it was a fun class. Tests are not too hard if you study. Study the online map quizzes she gives and you will learn alot.
Good personality, missed class a couple of times. Lets you drop the lowest test score and gives extra credit for attendance and a map quiz.
I had to retake this class because I didn't try the 1ST time, but I took it online and it was really fun. She shows pictures of different kinds of culture.
Good lab. Try to take it with the lecture if you have the time.
Her online course is not clear at all. Her test does not go with her online notes or is not in the book. Her test questions are vague. I read her notes and the book. Pass her class. What do you think?
Easy class. Not much work, except the memorization of the maps and there were chapters the were hard to understand. Prof. Mindes grades on a curve its impossible to fail unless you do absolutely nothing. I got a B with average effort.
Although she is a great teacher, she speaks of Blackboard as a matter of fact. There were things that she didn't know yet stated as if she did and that we were wrong. Only later we found out that we were right all along.
Her online class is ridiculous. Not clear at all. Font is many, many different sizes and all over the place. Very strict about the tests, which she only lets you log into once for up to an hour. If you pass the time limit, you fail the test. RIDICULOUS! Would not recommend.
I am taking her online class now. Exams ARE timed, but you have plenty of time to answer all the questions. If you actually study and organize your notes, you have time to refer to them while taking tests. She answers all the questions I have asked almost immediately. This class is easy if you try. It's also very interesting!
I believe the teacher is a fairly new intstructors. Her syllabus is incomplete and useless. Her test and quizes have the wrong answers and are have poorly written questions. she takes a long time to answer question and when she does the answers are useless. she sees things in black and white. she doesn't allow you to see your test or quizes.
online class, not hard at all, if you read the lectures. We only had lectures and tests and an extra credit map crossword puzzle. The curve was really fair.
I cannot stand this professor! she goes off topic a lot and makes lame jokes. had to drop before i killed someone.
Her class is difficult to understand. Her study guides and notes are ussles. I do not recomend anyone taking her on-line or in person. She takes a long time to answer e-mails and she is beig in her responce.
Truth is online class different. Basicly your on your own. Read the material a feww times until you understand it. if you have good reading comprehension you'll do ok, if not take the actual class so you can ask plenty of questions. good luck.
Online geography was one of the hardest class I ever took. The test is derived mostly from lecture notes. Study hard and google is always your friend.
This class was stressful. Not because of the material, but because of the professor she is useless. Took the course online, you get 50 question in 50 min,if you exceed one second you get a ZERO. The answears do not match her questions. She refuses to tell you which ones you missed, you can't prepare for final. I got an A. ON my own.
Currently in the class....her monotone way of speaking puts me to sleep...notes are useless....expects you to know way too much on test...i would not recommend her...book is also useless
This class was very easy. Must learn the maps but she provides website to learn that. Extra credit is avilable and she drops one test grade. Powerpoint notes provide most answers without the book. Take her.
I loved the class. THe map part was the only way I would have ever learned where places are. The lectures were interesting and challenging at times. Take her.
Dumb people should avoid this class. Otherwise it is not difficult at all. The teacher is helpful and more importantly-Hot.
whoever does not pass this class is either a slacker or brain dead. I got an A++, in the lab and lecture. Maps are fun, drops lowest test scores, extra credit. Plus Mindes is great and funny. She really made me appreciate nature more
Easiest class on campus, you dont even have to study to pass the tests. Don't buy the book its pretty much useless, most of her tests are based on lecture. The only thing thats a bit tough are the maps, but that basically it. She also shows alot of videos in her class.
this class is an EASY A. i never used the book once, only the atlas. just study the maps and you will do fine in the class.
online class is ridiculously difficult. Do not recommend online class. The notes do not match with the test questions. Wording is different and not enough time to refer back to notes. Also test structure does not help in retaining any information. Final is cumulative and there is no way to prepare, unless you want to memorize the book.
on line class in a little difficult, you need to understand very well because she asks a lot of example of places respect concepts..the final test were the more easiest part for me. Read and really understand what your are studying.
Took her online class,a lot of my classmates seemed to have trouble, some test questions did not seem to relate to her lectures, when I went back to look at my book I noticed that some of the answers were in there, however for the most part her lectures cover almost all that you should know to take the tests and pass.I got an A its possible.
For the most part this class is real easy. I did notice that some of her lectures did not match what was on the tests, but if you have your book and atlas, you should be able to pass the class with no problems.
So easy and very interesting. A lot of visuals to go with the lecture to keep you entertained. Half of the tests are based on lecture and are really easy questions if you do the review and the other half are map identifications which are easy if youre not a clutz and never seen a map before. Not recommended if you cant locate the US on a map.
good and funny, easy A :)
I have to say that I will miss this class. She is awesome. She teaches very well and makes it easy for you. Her exams come from the study guide and you have to memorize the map portion on your own. She has a great grading curve. My advice, just listen to her lectures, study the study guide and memorize maps. Highly recommended.
I loved this class. It was easy and she was very funny. For the studyguide she basically gives you the questions to the test and the maps are what you need to study most. I will definetly be taking other classes with her again.
She is super chill and very helpful! Take her class if you want an easy grade!
Take HER!!GREATEST teacher at Rio Hondo College...the test are so fair & show up to class everyday it really help at the end & she really Funny!
Took online GEOG101 with her. lectures arent very clear. Offers extra credit that can raise you 1 letter grade. Had to teach myself. Wasnt active with emails. Tests are timed online. 1 minute for each question. 50 minutes total. 4 Tests, 1 final. ended up getting a B with the extra credit. wouldn't recommend.
Mindes is an awesome teacher and she can be funny at times. Tests are indeed fair as long as you study enough to pass the class. The only downside is that she doesn't replay to our emails that often. Also, it seems many students are having problems with her online course. Take the lecture course, it'll help you save the trouble.
easiest class Ive ever taken! she makes the class so fun! shes so funny & adorable. All you need is to study the VERY HELPFUL STUDY GUIDE she gives. DONT GET THE BOOK. her tests are very short & easy. its an easy A. she also never takes attendance. just show up & get the notes from a friend & your set !!
One thing you must realize. Taking this class online and in person are two different worlds. The tests for online are inconsistent with the reviews and worded weird. Very hard to study for. I had better luck copying and pasting the questions into google. 4 Exams and a final. Timed tests where you cannot go back questions. Very difficult for online.
I got an A thanks to extra credit but I agree with whats being said for online. Tests are hard but her grading curve is great. If you do at least 75/100 on 4 exams + extra credit then you'll get an A. 5 exams but drops lowest test score.
The lab is harder than the lecture. Although she's really lenient and easy in lab assignments, because of this, the quizzes are harder since you've been passing by it all so easily. She goes through the material fast in lab. For lecture, the book isn't necessary AT ALL!!!! It's mostly on maps you can find online and the study guide that she gives.
She's a straightforward professor. Grades are based strictly from exams. No homework is given. Book is not mandatory. She will help give answers for the study guide which is fairly easy. For the final, it's a "you review on your own" type of study. She will not give you a study guide to do for the final which is probably my only con for the class.
She is really nice I took her physical geography class this semester she gives a study guide for every test. they are very easy multiple choice. then you to go to ilike2learn . com she suggest it in the beginning of the semester and she is right it helps out so much with the map portion! I would definitely suggest her.
There are five test including the final. She will throw the lowest score out. I aced all of my tests so I did not have to take the final. The book is not necessary if you attend class and take notes. She does not give homework, and she grades on a curve 83% and up is an A. Memorize the maps and do the extra credit test and you will do fine.
Took her this semester, I just have to say that I would not recommend her to anyone. She doesn't really engage full neither returns feedback. Even if you do well and participate she will give you the minimal grade. Tried so hard, and still didn't get a decent grade in her class. With all honesty, she's not a good professor. You're on your own....
DO NOT TAKE THE ONLINE COURSE! TIMED, AND DIFFICULT!!! I TRIED SO HARD AND SHE STILL FAILED ME!! SO MUCH EFFORT FOR NOTHING. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
This was the best class I have taken!! Not only is she funny but she makes her lectures so interesting and incorporates real life to her lectures which helps 2 learn everything more. If you miss class and don't do your part in studying you will not pass! Other than that it was a great class. She grades very well!! I would definitely recommend her.
Took her online, she is completely horrible. I tried so hard, her exams are tough. She failed me! I do not recommend her to anyone!
Took this online class, never even used the textbook and still passed with an A. Weekly discussions are posted, and 4 exams plus the final. Lowest exam gets dropped. 50 multiple choice questions to answer in an hour. One exam per month, plenty of time to study. Extra credit is given which is even more helpful. Grades on a curve. Pretty easy to pass
She was such a sweet professor and will help if you ask. I would definitely recommend her :)
she is a great professor.
Took ONLINE class. The lab is a lot harder then the class. Not so straight forward, very complicated. Not all labs but most towards the end lab 7 and on were the hardest. For the actual class make sure you read the notes and lectures. Find the answers at least browse through the book. No, most questions are not online.
Her class is very easy. I loved her class I took both geo 101 and 102. Notes are given to you.
Took this class for the summer and it was difficult to get through the lab especially Ive asked for the teachers help on information and did not begin to understand her explanations I was completely alone to figure labs out very difficult to understand. This class not good for online taking.
Okay, this class was SUPER difficult. The labs make no sense whatsoever, I took regular Geog101 along with this lab and geog101 wasn't bad but the lab is ridiculous. All you have is pretty much a packet of so-called notes that do no explaining. Really bummed out, if you have an option do not take it. She doesn't seem to care much.
This class wasn't bad, you don't need the book to pass. BUT IF UR ALSO TAKING LAB WITH IT STAY AWAY FROM LAB!!! ITS AN AUTOMATIC FAIL, SHE DOES NOT INTERACT WITH STUDENTS, THERES DISCUSSIONS TO PUT ANY QUESTIONS YET SHE DONT REALLY DO MUCH IF UR STRUGGLING.
Professor not active, nor responds much to class. Materials not reviewed for integrity before given to students. Expect to fly solo and not score well on many labs. You will NOT know what errors you made. Must be resourceful to Pass. Most classmates struggled based by their comments on dicussion board. Professor should be helpful, this one is NOT.
This class is graded solely on 4 tests and a final. No interaction with professor for the lecture part of the class. As long as you read all notes and chapters, you will do well. Professor grades on a curve. LAB that accompanies this class is not as easy. Please see rating for lab.
Professor Mindes is amazing the class is not hard at all but it really depends much on you if you study or not, she gives extra credit opportunities and tries to help you as much as possible. There are 5 total exams including the final the lowest grade of the 5 will be dropped. Just study the maps and the lecture notes and you will be good.
I took geography 101 online and all you do is take four tests. I also got an older textbook as noted in the syllabus for $3 so if your looking for a cheap easy class to fulfill your requirements this is it. I got an A in that class. When it comes to the lab got an F. The professor never responded to emails when I asked where I can get help
I took the course online for summer session and it was no joke. Be prepared for a lot of heavy reading!! Youre pretty much on your own for which its no interaction or any participation. Class consists of 4 tests and one final; and shell drop one of your lowest test scores. She doesnt give any retest for NO REASON!! And Again.. HEAVY READING!!
Shes great overall! Im currently taking her online class and yes it is heavy reading. If you take great notes and study them the exams are easy, if you study. My first exam I didnt study as much and got such a low grade but her lecture notes are interesting and fun.
Took her online class, and it was really easy. Theres no check ins every week just the 4 exams. Shes gives you the notes, so no need to buy the book. Theres really no communication through out the semester. If youre looking for a class that requires no work, then this is the class for you. Easy a
In this class, youll have four tests in total. Your whole grade is based on the tests and discussions. Also, Extra credit is 25 points. Each lecture (9 in total) is about 30 pages copied on to Microsoft Word. Quizzes are not clear about what country she is talking about. Overall, this class was very difficult because test questions were trivial.
4 exams drops the lowest one, her exams are challenging and her lectures are very long! Get ready to read, you definitely have to make time
Online class. 4 exams, drops the lowest. You're on your own in this class. Provides all lectures and ahead of time it is up to you to stay on task. Lectures are written, very long, but she gives you enough time to go through them. And the topics are interesting, you will not be bored. Exams are hard, but if you stay on task, easy A
Took this class in the summer online. There isn't much discussions. All you have to do is read and take the test of what you read and it only gives you 70 minutes to do a 50 question test. And there is only 1 extra credit which is a crossword that claims that the book has the answers but doesnt. Found all the answers online.
I had to finish this course online, due to Covid-19. Keep up with the text book readings and be prepared to take in a lot of written information by Mindes.
She is a respected teacher. She made it easy to understand for all. She works with you, if you talk to her. She is understanding if you have a disability or a hard time understanding the subject, she makes times to make sure you understand it correctly. She provides a in class tutor, too!
You're on your own in this class. She provides a note to read and 4 exams, 50 minutes for 50 questions. For Lab, I struggle a lot, provided note and you have to figure out doing the lab exercise by yourself. If you never take Geo, you will struggle a lot since most of the lab exercises, no explanation just note to read. Don't like her teaching.
This class was not easy and your grade is based on 4 tests with your lowest test score being dropped, so 3 tests total. Each lecture is just an essay of notes that is very long. Although, the class is difficult it is not impossible to pass I was still able to get an A because the class is curved. I would only take this class if you need to.
your grade is based on tests so you better read and understand what you are reading. i still have to take her lab and I'm not looking forward to it considering she basically leaves you on your own. would not take her again if I had a choice.
Professor Aimee was awesome! As long as you take good notes and study the material she gives you its easy.
Professor Mindes is a walking book. She is very knowledgeable and gives amazing lectures and feedback. There are four exams throughout the course, and she will drop the lowest score. I really enjoyed her class as well as her lab class. I would definitely take her class again if I had too.
Asynchronous class. 3 exams , 1 final, 3 hw assignments. Weekly discussions are simple. No extra credit opportunities. She does not show the correct answers once finished with an exam! Extremely frustrating because I'm really trying to learn. She leaves you wondering what the answer was. Which ultimately teaches me nothing.
It is very seldom when she assigns a discussion post but they're more like casual conversations and small talk. There are 4 exams and she will drop the lowest one. There's a lot of reading and her exam questions follow a format similar to: The ___ was responsible for all of the following EXCEPT. So be ready to remember little bits & details
I'm not sure why she has such a low rating. I really enjoyed this class. I took is ASYNC. She has 4 quizzes 1 final and drops the lowest quiz score. I like this amount of work. She offers study guides for each test. I would definitely take him from her again. I even signed up for her lab because I felt her class was very doable. Give her a chance!
I love Rio, this was my worst experience here. I implore you to take ANYTHING ELSE to fulfill this requirement; anthro with Schulz maybe. 1 unit is not worth the incredible difficulty. I say that as an Honors student who generally finds school to be simple. Tons of typos in lectures, due dates are stated but not programmed in for apt reminders. No.
I had originally left her a good review when I took her Geography class. I took her lab and it was the hardest class EVER. Ridiculously hard for no reason. I went from Deans List and got right off due to BARELY passing this class. I 100% do not recommend. Trust me.
The class is just readings and four quizzes, you won't learn anything outside of that and it's easy to pass.
The labs after the first 6 weeks get pretty difficult and her videos aren't that helpful. I had to rewatch the videos multiple times and teach myself what it was that she wanted. She's more than helpful to meet for a Zoom meeting to help you out. However, what she expects of her labs is poorly taught in the videos. Heavily rounds up grade at end.
The actual class was fine. This lab was ridiculous! So difficult to navigate and the layout of the assignments due is completely unorganized & horrible! She does not program Canvas to let you know when LABS and quizzes are due! I have never had such a horrible experience in all my years at Rio until this class. Do NOT take this lab.
This class seems to be alright cause the teacher doesn't really assign any homework. But on the other hand, it is also hard bc the test will weigh a lot, 1 minute for 1 question. 4 exams and 1 final. Questions in the test are mostly the information that is not provided in the ppt slides. So be aware. This class is not easy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS LAB!!! Her lab is so unorganized and so difficult for no reason. I highly recommend to take another teacher because she is not great.
Professor Mindes' class is straightforward - 4 quizzes and a final. While it may not be the most engaging, the material is manageable if you use the study guides and resources like Unstuck AI. Overall, a decent option for fulfilling a gen-ed requirement.
4 exams and 1 final, the lowest test score will be dropped from your grade. Exams are 50 questions and 50 minutes long. No homework, just a couple of discussion topics. Extra credit is easy. Exams are multiple choice, only issue is you can't go back and change an answer to a question and you can't see what questions you answered wrong afterwards.
If you need a physical science course I highly recommend you take this class. Very easy compared to other subjects, especially the way this class is set up online. No math involved, just reading powerpoints and the textbook. Most answers to the exams are from powerpoints as she paraphrases from the textbook so you won't need to do extra reading.
While I appreciated her expertise in the subject matter, I felt that there were some areas for improvement. One area that impacted my learning experience was several days for responses to my questions, which made it challenging to keep up with the coursework. Additionally, I found the organization of Canvas assignments to be unclear at times.
Honestly a simple summer course 4 main exams and a final, will upload discussions randomly. There is an extra credit, it's enough to bump you a letter grade. Downside is, she provides study guides but none to maybe one or 2 of the questions with the study guide are on the exams, so the study guides are useless.
This course felt like I was taking math and science. Very difficult if you aren't good with equations. Alot of lab readings, alot of lab work. Just alot of work overall.
