kind of a scatterbrain. assignments sometimes unclear. psych personality class had way too much work than it should have for 5 credit class. nice lady, very helpful, however slightly disorganized and confusing.
Aimee was friendly and knew her subject well, and also could teach it well. Because she's a psychologist, she knows how people learn and catered to that in her lecture. There was a lot of interesting hands-on stuff. The class has reading and weekly quizes, so if you stay on top of that you'll get a good grade.
Covers a lot of material in-class, so attendance is pretty mandatory. Makes classes fairly fun, however, with student involvement and plenty of fun "experiments" she performs on the class to prove a point in the lecture. Weekly quizzes are very easy and provide a good review for the exams.
Good class, but the workload is very unevenly distributed throughout the quarter and you will probably be knocking your head against walls with all the assignments piled up at the end of the quarter. Only one exam, but it's cumulative.
Down to earth and attempts at humor.
Great professor! Classes are pretty entertaining and all her notes are posted online if you miss class. There are only two tests that are difficult but she hands out a study guide that is very similar to the test. Highly recommend this class...
Fun Class. Awesome in class activities. Tests are hard, but achievable. Recommended, but only if you're willing to do some work.
Prof Aimee was an awesome professor. She clearly loves her subject and loves teaching it. She kept us interested the entire time. Definitely take any of her classes. She grades pretty hard on her essays, but shes always willing to meet before the due date to discuss your paper.
She knows what she is talking about and the class was very easy. Her lectures were easy to understand.
This was an amazing class. I took Memoirs of Madness as a CORE requirement and she was such an amazing teacher. She really made the topic interesting and the class was well worth taking wether you are a PSYCH major or not! One of my favorite teachers at DU by far!
Aimee is the BEST professor in the world, most importantly the BEST PERSON in the world. She teaches with such enthusiasm and understanding. I wish i could take more of her classess and just live in them. Anything you need, she is there, so sweet and willing to help. So be willing to learn in her class and she is more then willing to teach!!!
I had no interest in psychology before this class, but loved it anyway. She's a great teacher and I'd definitely take another class with her. Work load is manageable and the tests are fairly hard but she hands out study guides.
Great professor. Gets students very involved during class. Not a boring class, very interesting. Very willing to help you and accommodating. Tests are hard so be sure you study notes from class and notes from the book.
Decker is a great professor who really cares for her subject. The class is rather simple: weekly readings, weekend quiz, and three main tests. Only warning- Don't let the first test catch you off guard. They are of much higher rigor than the quizzes. Doing on poorly on the first test can make the quarter a struggle. Decker is a great teacher tho
She keeps class very interesting. Very nice and will help if you need it. Tests are fairly difficult, but she offers review sessions with TA's. Incredibly attractive and makes coming to class worth it
She is awesome. I love her noisy, colorful powerpoints, and she even posts them on Blackboard. It was really easy to get Clicker points too- just by attending class. Easiest class I've taken at DU.
She is awesome and engaging. Time flies by in the class with class participation and videos. HIGHLY recommend her!
Very nice, and very helpful. Her lectures were always fun and interesting, and I really loved going every day. Her tests could be a bit hard though, make sure you study.
Definitely take this class if you are interested in psychology! A great intro class. Attendance is pretty mandatory due to clicker participation points. There are quizzes online every week that are slightly difficult. The tests are multiple choice but challenging. However, the class is so much FUN. We were constantly laughing! Aimee is GREAT.
She always shared relevant and interesting material with the class. He power points are clear, fun and helpful and she teaches using lecture, videos, reading, and activities. The class is not hard and the textbook is very good. She is very nice. The class size is large and she isn't the most willing to help but her lectures are very good.
Great teacher for intro to cog neuro. if you do the study guides for each week and actually study them, its hard to not get an A
Fairly easy class if you keep up with the weekly reviews and put in the time to study. I found the topic interesting and enjoyed going to this class on a daily basis.
so hard, disorganized. failed every test.
Literally the worst professor I have EVER had. She talks way to fast so you better like auction-paced lectures. The hybrid she teaches is the worst course you could ever take. She gives you 10 times as much work to do as you would have in a lecture-only course. She doesn't explain anything and could care less about you. She is a awful
Best FSEM! Weekly exercise classes, and fun, unique assignments! Aimee is awesome in class, and there is hardly any homework, besides a couple group projects. Easy FSEM, but lots of fun.
She is very clear, has engaging lectures, and lots of class discussion. I really enjoy her overall!
I loved Aimee's class, it was challenging enough to the point where I had to study.. but not super challenging to the point where I wanted to die. The class was super interesting and I think I learned a ton of awesome information from this class. If you want some controversial super fun engaging class this is the class for you. She's awesome.
Loved the class and the professor! Super fun.
Aimee is really tangible and always there to answer your questions. She isn't the kind of professor who just throws you to the TA if you need help. She's really good at memorizing names which in a class of 70+ is not only impressive but makes you feel important. Her assignments are really clear and she never made me feel confused.
This was an awesome course & the teacher is great! Great topics, at first uncomfortable but it's good to be uncomfortable & talk about such tabooed topics. There are debates and papers & weekly assignments but it's an interesting subject so it doesn't seem like a heavy amount of work. Professor is awesome, funny sense of humor & readily available
This was the first course I took with Professor Aimee and I'm looking forward to taking more in the future. Human sexuality was an excellent course and I encourage everyone to take it. The lectures, discussions, and in class debates are all excellent and I think that anyone would benefit from taking this course.
So, although the subject of Human Sexuality was interesting, there were way too many assignments to complete for this class. Yes, I got a good grade in the class. But, you have to put in a lot of work constantly with little assignments, papers, tests, and debates. Also, you don't learn any material in class. It all comes from the text book....
There is tons of annoying busy work for this class. Class time mostly consisted of student debates with very little lecture. You basically teach yourself all the material by reading out of the book. Even though she has tons of clinical experience in this area, almost all of the lectures consisted of her simply reciting book material. So boring.
Aimee is awesome. Seriously I now am doing a Psych minor because she is so amazing. Class is really interesting, and she asks questions through top hat, so you don't have to talk in class if you don't want to. Best teacher for Intro Psych.
Participation Matters- meaning you use a program called TopHat to answer questions, etc. This is how she checks that you are in class. Overall, very interesting but fairly easy because it's mostly memorizing information for the test.
Professor Reichmann-Decker is the best Prof I have ever had in a class, and is the reason I am a Psych major. Her lectures are really interesting and engaging, and she is super helpful if you come to her with problems. I wouldn't say the class is an easy A, but keeping up with the workload will pretty much get you that A.
Aimee's intro to psych class is very interesting. I loved the topics we learned about but the class lectures were very long and hard to stay focused in. She gives a lot of work outside of class that seems overwhelming at first but is totally do-able throughout the quarter. Her tests have a lot of info in them but overall the class is great!
Prof. Reichmann-Decker is definitely one of my favorite teachers. All of the information on the tests are well covered in class, and the homework load is easily manageable. She's also one of the funnier teachers I've head. I would definitely take another one of her classes.
Professor Reichmann-Decker was one of the best teachers I have had. She was hilarious, engaging and very willing to help. Her lectures were really interesting, and everything that was on the test she covered in class. You can absolutely succeed in this class. Would definitely take again if Reichmann-Decker was teaching, she's great.
Dr. Aimee Reichmann-Decker was the best instructor that I had for my entire time here at DU. She is amazing! She gives a lot of extra credit. She has very engaging lectures. She is always in a good mood. She is always well-prepared. Her class was definitely something I would always look forward to. I highly recommend students to take her classes.
She's amazing! Greta teacher with a great since of humor and is always willing to lend a hand if you need one. She also can answer 99% of the questions thrown her way. She makes learning so fun with power points, class participation, and video examples. Weekly homework was easy if you paid attention to class.
Great teacher, clearly cares about her students. Maybe lets too much talking between students happen sometimes.
Dr. Reichmann always had cool activities for us to do in class and the workload outside of class wasn't bad. She assigned 8 chits though, which was a bit excessive. But overall she's very passionate about psychology and teaching, she's by far my favorite teacher.
All HW is done online (more tedious than anything else). Lectures are kind of longshe checks if you're there though so go!but she posts her slides after class anyway. Only 3 exams but they're long and kind of difficultdon't ONLY follow her study guides. She does give a lot of extra creditso take advantage of it!
Dr. Reichmann-Decker is a really great teacher and an engaging lecturer. She is funny and knowledgeable. The lectures are really important to go to- she covers all of the material in the book that you read in the class. If you are taking Foundations of Psych, I would definitely recommend her as a professor.
Great professor. She conveys materials really well through lectures and has fun class activities like every time. She also provides a lot of materials to help students study. She posts all her lectures on Canvas as well as review guides for exams. The online homework helps enforce materials without that much work.
Great class. Highly recommend for foundation of psychology. If you think you found an error with a test grade or something, you can address it with her and she is very receptive and fair. Interesting lectures - you can tell she is very knowledgeable and experienced in psychology.
Amazing lectures, she is so fun and engaging.
Aimee is an awesome teacher, and makes the lengthy lectures worth going to. She provides study guides for the 3 exams. Take this class if you can
Lovely woman with lots of teaching and field experience. Important to take notes during class for the tests. Very clear about what will be on exams. Top Hat attendance at every class. online textbook quizzes once a week. Research chits. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Enjoyed the class a lot.
This is a great class and she may be my favorite professor at DU. There were a few papers and lots of interesting debates. I honestly love this class and this professor, would definitely recommend.
Dr. Decker is a solid professor. Her lectures were engaging and thought provoking. Additionally, she was extremely clear on the requirements for her class, which I appreciated.
I took PSYC 1001 to fulfill a common curriculum requirement and really enjoyed the class thanks to Professor Aimee. She has lots of experience in the field and always found ways to make lectures exciting and interactive. The textbook chapters were long and tedious but she gave the class really detailed study guides before each test which helped.
Aimee made this course extremely interesting for me. She really struck my interest in psychology, and because of this intro course and my professor I will be majoring in psychology. If you are planning on taking an intro to psych course, TAKE AIMEE'S CLASS. Thank you, Aimee, you are definitely an amazing professor with great life experience.
Very good professor. Attendance is taken every class. Lectures are very helpful and engaging. She made the class interesting to sit through. Very accommodating to all students' needs.
Honestly one of the best professors I've had. She really knows how to engage and present the material in an understandable way. Definitely should go to class because her lectures are important for understanding what's going on. Don't really need to read the textbook, but online homework helps with understanding. Overall, GREAT class and professor!
I took forensic psych with her and she is awesome. I got one of my only Bs in her class but I would do it all over again for the knowledge. She keeps class engaging and relevant. Wish I could have taken more classes with her. She knows her stuff.
Her lectures were always engaging and she provides the ppt slides after each class, which was super helpful. Read the textbook, try to take good notes and you will be fine. Take advantage of extra credit opportunities. Many of the questions on the exams refer to specific examples from the lectures so definitely show up to the class!
This class was so interesting and Professor R-D always makes it fun and changes every class up a bit. She gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, exams are easy as long as you pay attention, and class is engaging. There's a good amount of HW, but it's always due Sunday and not hard/boring to do!
Such an awesome professor! Highly recommend! Great teaching and a fun class. She is very enganging and intresting as she teaches.
One of the most amazing professors I have ever had. Her lectures are very engaging and she presents in a clear, yet fun way that allows you to be successful on the tests. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, but if you go to class, study a bit and pay attention-- this class is amazing and pretty easy. She also makes quizlets!
Aimee is the reason I switched my major to psych - the best professor I had at DU. If you have a chance to take her class, you absolutely should. She is caring, extremely knowledgeable, and truly a gem! Her lectures are interesting and relatable for everyone. Take notes and listen in class and you'll do awesome.
Aimee did a wonderful job explaining a lot of material. I learned a lot in her class. She helped me succeed in her class. It's worth the money.
This course is an amazing intro psychology class. Professor Aimee Reichmann-Decker strives and succeeds at making class interesting and interactive. Her style of teaching with examples and demonstrations makes learning much easier, and more captivating than a simple lecture about the facts. I cannot stress the fondness that I have for this class.
She understands what students need to succeed and teaches the class with this in mind. She makes class entertaining and engaging. If you take good notes in class, you will pass the test and the class. She helps make it easier to learn a lot of material.
Dr. Reichmann-Decker is approachable and friendly. Her lectures are very fascinating, even in an online setting. Her homework policies are fair (reasonable workload). The textbook is worth the price, since you will use it every week for homework. She cares deeply about the subject matter.
I overall enjoyed Dr. Reichman Decker's class to an extent, but the lectures seemed way too long and repetitive. Instead of attending the zooms for class, I would just watch the recordings of them posted to Canvas later and watch them in double speed. She talked about the same concept for way too long at a time and then brushes over others.
She makes going to class. Her Human sexuality class was so interesting and I always learned something new when I went to class
I love professor Decker! She is fantastic at lecture, and really great to talk to if you want to dive deeper into certain subjects. She's been my favorite Psych professor at DU!
If you get the chance to take Professor ARD I HIGHLY recommend her. She is so clearly knowledgeable and passionate about psychology and makes lectures interesting and engaging. Attending class is super important as she covers lots of information during class and counts attendance everyday. If I could take all my psych classes with her I would!
Good class overall, homework is solid , not to hard and easy to get credit, but the tests are grade killers though.
The lectures as well as the whole course were very well organized. The instructions for the assignments were clear and the exams were fair. Dr. Reichmann-Decker is very nice and knows a lot about the presented topics. This class was a great introduction to psychology.
We use a digital textbook and take "quizzes" for each chapter we read (also digital). Every class is a lecture and she's great at it! We took three tests, which were all multiple choice. Only thing is she doesn't curve the tests as much as I'd prefer. If you complete participation checkins and textbook readings, you're already ahead!
Such a good professor and a really fun class. 10/10 recommend.
Aimee is a great professor. Her exams are mostly lecture-heavy, but she is very good at answering any questions you have. There are a lot of opportunities to get your grade up with extra credit.
Her class was great. If you pay attention to the lectures and stay on top of the Hawkes HW (just look at the quizlets and you're set) then you'll get an A. Aimee herself was really nice and made class fun
such a good teacher for neurodivergent students like me, she makes her class dynamic, her lectures are interesting and include all different learning styles, she checks in for comprehension and is honestly just such a good caring kind funny teacher and person and she will never hesitate to get real with students and has real dedication to the field
She lectures the entire time, but does so in a way that is entertaining and digestible. She uses lots of examples that students can relate to, answers questions thoroughly, & is always offering help when needed! If you miss class, don't stress, it's very easy. The tests are easy, even if you have a vague understanding of things. I loved this class!
Grading was very tough in the course I took with Dr. Reichmann-Decker, but she was very helpful in terms of her feedback, always being available to answer questions through email, during office hours, or after class. Also lots of extra credit opportunity in the class and her lectures were very interesting and engaging.
I had Professor Reichmann-Decker for Foundation of Psych. Professor Reichmann-Decker is an excellent lecturer. She lays out the slides coherently and in ways that make sense. I'm taking another one of her classes next term and I can't wait.
Just amazing! Easy class just show up, pay attention in class since there is comprehension questions either before or during the lecture, and do the Hawks Hw, really just need to do the quizzes since majority of the reading was taught in the lecture.
Everyone I talk to says to take a class from her. Her lectures were put together nicely and included a good amount of engagement. She included both personal stories and experiences with textbook-based content. She spent time remembering names in a 100+ person lecture.
Dr. Reichmann Decker is absolutely amazing. I took human sexuality with her and was shocked by how much I enjoyed the class. She is an extremely intelligent person and places so much value on student voices. She is highly receptive to feedback and our ideas. The class is really dynamic and we talked about things that we all found interesting!!
She is an amazing professor. Defiantly would take this again or another course she teaches. Amiee Reichman-Decker is very accommodating
Dr Reichman-Decker is exactly the type of professor who should be teaching about human sexuality. She creates such a safe and accepting environment in her class without making differing opinions feel unwelcome. The podcast she uses in the class is AMAZING and I learned so much information that everyone needs to know. Great professor overall!
This class was taught well, considering how much material needed to be covered. It is a fast paced class with lots of outside reading and assignments, but her lectures are so so helpful, easy to understand, and interesting enough to keep you interested. I would love to take a class with ARD that is not so material heavy.
She's the best! I urge everyone who can take Aimee's Humor ASEM. It's a lot of fun and really good for getting out of your comfort zone. Great professor.
The homework assignments took forever to complete because you have to read a whole chapter then answer questions about it but if you answer it wrong they give you more questions to answer. I did it at the beginning of the week to get it over with but besides that she is really caring and her lectures are informative and long.
One of the best psych professors at DU. She knows exactly how to teach this class. It is based on lectures, Kahoot, 4 assignments, and 2 tests. It is very easy to get a good grade as long as you get the work in. Her classes are not an easy A, but you learn things and she is a good prof.
Her grading was intensely strict, with no options for revisions. Her knowledge regarding the criminal aspect of the class was lackluster and it didn't make sense to me why she was chosen to teach forensic psychology. She didn't even know my name and would call me other names until the end of the quarter, despite my heavy participation.
I thought some of the lectures were pretty boring and there was a lot of information in this course. There were two exams both worth a lot of points but no final. Overall she's a good professor and if you study and put work into the assignments you will be fine.
She's a great professor honestly. She is very honest, caring, and sociable. She loves to make lectures as interesting as possible by cracking some awful jokes sometimes lol. She also always starts class by playing music as people enter the room. The homework is not hard (just textbook reading) minus the textbook test (due Sunday nights)
loved her. engaging in class and she really cares about her teaching.
She's so fun, engaging lectures and interactive activities.
Lecture heavy class, but she keeps them engaging and makes them enjoyable. Homework was time-consuming but straightforward. As long as you do the work it's easy to get a good grade, and if something comes up she's willing to work with you. You can tell she cares about her students and the material she's teaching. Really great professor!
This professor was one of my favorite ones, she truly cares about each student and makes class fun. She grades very fairly and gives a lot of extra credit and is always available when help is needed.
Dr. Reichmann-Decker is a phenomenal professor and an engaging lecturer who cares about her students. Even if you are not a psychology major, you can do well in this course. The weekly readings are easy to understand and the lectures will build on the material covered.
Dr. Reichman-Decker is incredible. Having her as my introduction to the Psychology program and the university as a whole was a blessing. She makes her lectures interesting and engaging. Her slides have all the necessary notes and she has a good pace while teaching. There are extra credit opportunities and participation is not necessary.
Dr Decker made PSYC 1001 one of my favorite classes I have EVER taken. Her lectures are so interesting and the way she explains concepts makes it actually make a lot of sense. There are also opportunities for extra credit and many chances to prepare for our exams. Could not recommend her enough!
This course felt like a love poem to the police force with very little context or fairness in terms of the massive problems in the justice system. She said "And this is why cops should be paid more."
idk why she's rated so high she sucked. so boring and glorified police. why we spent 2 weeks on police psych instead of fingerprint & DNA analysis blows my mind. attendance is mandatory only 3 skips & lectures arent worth it. I always read the textbook & could survive her class w/o going.
Allows use of cheat sheets on exams and posts slides, so you should do well if you pay attention. Weekly readings which are long, but that's what you get with a psych class. The lectures can be long but she does her best to engage students
She is so fun and made this class very interesting. She incorporates videos and music throughout the lectures to keep the class engaged and allows cheat-sheets on exams, which was nice. She's very knowledgeable about the subject and we had some good in-class discussions. Lots of textbook homework but beneficial to learn the content
super chill class. prof decker is really knowledgeable and lets you have 3 absences a quarter before she takes off points. really easy to talk to
so boring we spent 2 weeks on police psych & 3 lectures on rape/SA. did nothing for me and the tests were hard. only 3 skips allowed so you're stuck going to lectures. just read the textbook and you'll know everything
Aimee is super nice, and she's an amazing lecturer. You don't necessarily have to read and take notes on the text book but you have to pay attention to her in class and the study guide that she gives when you are preparing for tests because there's some stuff in the textbook that she doesn't teach or she runs out of time to teach during the unit.
An okay teacher, very lecture heavy but they all are tbh. Tough grader, but she is very caring, just communicate with her. This class has some interesting material, it can make up for boring lectures. Expensive book/website.
I found her lectures very interesting and engaging. When you do the readings and go to lecture, take notes for each unit on one piece of paper in small writing and bring that to the exams (she allows a note sheet). Doing this allowed me to not study for any exams and always do well. It is an easy class and she is accommodating if you ask.
This was an amazing class. The tests are all non-cumulative and multiple-choice which as long as you engage in class makes them pretty simple. Dr. Reichmann-Decker makes the class super fun and interactive which was a nice surprise from a lecture class. She is also incredibly nice and knows and cares for every student.
She's seriously the perfect prof for human sexuality. My favorite thing she did was play fun music at the beginning of each class. She is so much fun and so easy to talk to!!!
class was always so fun and she made such an effort to get to know all of her students! she made a big class feel like a small class.
I took her psychology 1001 or Intro to psychology class. She was an amazing professor. Even though our class had about 100 people, she was willing to answer any questions she was asked and try to help everyone understand what she was lecturing about. She learned all of our names and helped personalize the experience! Prepare for the tests!!!
She did a great job with pacing of the class, technology, and keeping it interesting/stimulating. Quizzes and study guides prepare you well for exams. Teaching style worked well for me. She was very helpful and understanding when it came to accommodations. Would recommend!
Dr. Reichmann-Decker is an engaging lecturer who makes psych lectures fun. Attend class, do the readings, and use tools like Unstuckstudy to prepare - you'll learn a ton and likely get an A. Highly recommend this class!
She is a very organized teacher, you can tell she has been teaching this course for a long time. Overall, an interesting course and the exams were relatively easy as long as you prepared for them.
Queen! Her lectures were engaging and helped me remember the concepts for every test. We also got a full page cheat-sheet for exams.
This is a great class!
Dr. Reichmann-Decker is an outstanding and thoughtful professor. Foundation psychology is a challenging class with lots of material; she does allow a note sheet on exams, but they are still tricky. I recommend attending office hours and taking advantage of the extra credit opportunities.
You do need the textbook for the weekly quizzes, but I never read it to learn. You get a full page, double-sided cheat sheet for every exam.
