Aimee has been, by far, my favorite professor! You definitely need to know the material to pass the class, but she makes the information very clear and will spend extra time with you. She's funny and makes the topic interesting!
She's a phenomenal teacher! She absolutely gets being a student, gave our claas multiple extensions when we asked for them, helped me on my final project, and has the funniest storied about her kids. I passed with an A without the bookids because her classes are that good. Take her class!
Aimee is the best HDFS teacher in the department.
Her class is easy but she is probably the most annoying teacher I've ever had. She talks to us like we're small children, is insanely disorganized, NEVER responds to emails, and the semester is almost over and there's not a single thing graded. So frustrating.
Aimee is a great HDFS professor. She gave our class multiple extensions on our assignments because she understands what it is like to be a college student. She is very good at reading the vibe in the classroom and adjusting accordingly. She has the best stories about her own kids and is knows what she is talking about.
She really cares about her students. I love her stories about her kids it makes the concepts easier to understand. Love how casual she is in the class as well. The occasional curse word drop makes it more entertaining as well.
Amazing professor, definitely cares about her students. The class is pretty easy if you study the PowerPoints, which are posted online. Only 1 essay, and 3 total Exams. Only down side is lectures get kinda boring and attendance is required. She understands that we have other priorities, and will move assignments if needed. 10/10 recommend.
I LOVE this professor! I have taken 2 classes with her and am planning on taking a 3rd this semester. She really takes the time to learn about her students and loves the topics she teaches on. You will learn a lot about her kids in the class as well. She is really relaxed so if you like a more structured class she may not be for you.
She's an okay professor but one of the most condescending people I have ever met. She talks to us like we're children and yells at us near-daily.
Wonderful professor. She cares about the students and is very approachable. She does give surprise extra credits for showing up to class, so go to class. Weekly online quizzes are to be done on your time so take your time. She is lecture heavy but also depends on the quizzes to cover some of the stuff she misses in class.
Her syllabus is unclear and assignments done at the beginning of the semester were still not graded. We are four weeks away from the end of the semester and still don't know how we are doing in the class because the only things in the grade book are participation and the midterm. Expectations are not clear in this class.
It's finals week and we still do not have grades in from the beginning of the semester. She is unclear about how she expects assignments to be. There are about 10-12 things missing in the grade book right now which makes it impossible for us to know what we will need to get on the final. I would not recommend this teacher.
Aimee promised grades would be in by April 21st and after finals the grades still aren't in. I still have assignments from March without a grade in the grade book. Her syllabus is filled with holes and it makes assignments and due dates VERY unclear. I love her lectures and I've enjoyed her classes in the past but I hated this class.
She did class participation every day. She had 10 assignments ungraded the week of finals week. Put final grades in before anyone could see what they received and locked the canvas classroom so all grades weren't able to be viewed. I wouldn't have gone to class unless mandatory. Taught myself, busy work, and she has an annoying voice
She is very involved and tries to relate the martial to her life and it really helps to understand. You DO NOT need the paper version of the book but you do need the online book. Also if you like to chatter in class do not take it with her because she don't tolerate side conversations.
Despite having numerous GTA's, grades take far too long to put in, just two days before the final, two papers and a whole group project remain ungraded, making it impossible to know what to get on the final. She tells outlandish stories about her children. To her credit, she does know the material very well.
Professor Walker was a mediocre professor. After turning in participation one day two people (maybe?) left class. She took away the opportunity for anyone to receive participation that day. She would call out two people in a huge lecture hall for having a conversation. Didn't grade, and made lectures mandatory even though we learned nothing.
Very disorganized, changes assignments at the last minute. Not clear expectations. Takes forever to grade.
So disorganized! Takes forever to grade anything. Lectures are very boring and it seems like she is not prepared at all. She's nice but gets very mad if people talk during lecture. If you show up and do the work you will be fine. Its just very annoying when a teacher is so disorganized.
She talks very openly and making the material personable. She relates things to the real world and for me that is helpful to remember material.
She found away to make material relevant to your life so it was easy to digest.
I LOVE Aimee. I've taken her four of my five semesters at CSU so far and she is so caring and her classes are really engaging. The only thing that is not great is that she takes FOREVER to grade, but she isn't a tough grader so I was never really worried. She also frequently cancels exams which is nice!
I love Aimee Walker. She is a bit disorganized, but I love listening to her in lectures. The best part is how intelligent and caring she is. I think she wants her students to learn. Takes a while to grade, and some people really stress over that. I didnt mind it because I knew I was learning and trusted that. She lets you redo assignments.
caring and interesting
Aimee's a lovely lady, but I wouldn't recommend taking her class. Her issues with being disorganized caused me to have a very difficult time passing the course. Because she was so behind on lecture, I'd have to literally teach the entire course to myself to finish the assignments by their deadline. Her disorganization made the course so much harder
Aimee Walker is a nice person but her grading makes NO SENSE. Currently struggling of her midterm, very little of the information was EVER discussed in class. She gives the smallest overview, then expects us to know details she never discussed. Doesn't grade anything on time or answer emails. So unclear, Most frustrating prof Ive ever had
Aimee is a fantastic teacher. One of the few teachers I've actually learned things from. I took HDSF 100 as an elective but I loved the class. It can be boring since it is mainly a lecture class however if you pay attention you will love this class. She is very lenient with grading however she takes her time with grading.
Aimee is an amazing professor and has engaging lectures. Her only downfall is she is unclear with her expectations for assignments and grading. She takes forever to grade and does not provide great feedback. She is not the greatest at responding to emails either. She is very scattered brained and could be much better with some organization.
Paid for a class to be treated like a preschooler, be prepared to sing and dance. She takes about half the semester to grade a 2 paragraph paper. Is not flexible about missing Fun Fridays (which are not fun). Does not communicate expectations. If you need an easy A and go to class, this is the class for you!
Grading criteria was NOT clear, and the late feedback was not useful. She's a wonderful person, with a lot of knowledge and wisdom to share, but it is not currently being organized and communicated in an effective way. The midterm was comprised of questions that had little to do with the class content. Sometimes I felt like I was paying for little
Worst professor at CSU. Has no idea what she's doing. Loads a stupid project into the last TWO weeks of the semester and gives NO instructions and when you ask for help she gets rude/mad bc you don't get it. You cannot reach her outside of class, I emailed her and never got a response for over a month. Never posted the online final when she said
Aimee is a rough professor, but she is also very understanding and is willing to work with an individual if they speak to her. She is very passionate about her work and her class was AMAZING. Most people dont like her because she doesnt tolerate B.S, but if you respect her and her work, shell respect you.
AMAZING professor. She can be unorganized at times, but Aimee cares about her students so much. She is always there for you and she genuinely wants you to succeed. I absolutely learned so much in her classes and highly recommend anyone to take her class!!!
does not explain things well, expects students to know what to do without directions and very disorganized.
Connects material to everyday life. However, she changed the way the grades were weighted after all the tests and assignments where turned in. My grade went from a b to a c because of her changing the weight scale and there was nothing I could do because the semester was over. She takes months to grade. She also has no problem yelling.
Aimee is definitely a freshmen professor. I took her class a sophomore and I felt like I was constantly being talked to like a child. This class is almost too easy; the class material that is. The assignments are OK- but be ready to go out of your way for them (have to go to Early Childhood Center twice). Nice lady though.
I may just have not enjoyed it because the content was really repetitive and seemed useless, but Aimee was very disorganized and sometimes straight up rude. She doesnt really explain assignments or grading criteria
One good note, shes sweet. Other than that shes incredibly disorganized and almost never posts things that she says she is going to. Everything is graded relatively easy except for the observations. We never know what to expect for this class. Didnt even know if we had a final until the Monday of finals week. Avoid her classes if you can.
Worst professor in the HDFS department. I am a senior at CSU and she has ruined my experience. She is unorganized and unhelpful and rude.I know she is intelligent but she is rude and does not care about students
This professor was honestly never very helpful, was very inconsistent in her grading, and to be honest wasn't very kind when I asked for help. She made me feel like an idiot when I was confused, which has resulted in me writing this review because I am so angry with how she treats me and runs her class! Not a fan, try to avoid
Most unorganized professor I've ever had! She didn't post a canvas page until about a week after CSU classes started. "Test" are easy, a lot of busy work at first that will take a while to do, don't need the textbook, easy A, gets feedback on the first assignment after you hand in your last one so if you did them all wrong then you wouldn't know.
This class was a joke. Basically if you do the like 10 assignments she assigns all semester you will get 100%. I don't feel like I really learned anything and the content was VERY repetitive. Her lectures were confusing and they did not relate to the homework assignments. She tends to ramble on and I honestly just tuned her out the whole time.
I wouldn't take a class with Dr. Walker as the teacher. She is very scattered, lots of her lectures don't really make sense with her curriculum. She also doesn't answer emails or questions, if you have any questions you have to go to her Friday MST meetings. Wouldn't recommend. The class seems like it could be great but it's a mess with her.
This prof's grading criteria and feedback are so vague yet she grades certain projects extremely harshly. When I emailed her about my concerns, she was standoffish and rude. Throughout her course, she was also very unorganized in all aspects of her teaching (canvas page, assignment outlines, etc). I do not recommend Aimee Walker AT ALL.
Aimee is so passive aggressive when speaking to her about any questions on assignments and argues with you. She does not respond to emails and her assignments are so disorganized that they make no sense. She only holds "work days" for questions about assignments on Fridays Her rubrics do not reflect her grading criteria.
Aimee is the worst. She is not available outside of class time and hardly answers emails with questions. She does not provide rubrics for assignments and gets upset and irritated when questions are asked. Class material is not helpful and repetitive. The most attitude & disrespect from a prof, and not enough instruction. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Dr. Walker had very unclear assignments and did not unlock modules until the first class of the week. Sunday assignments were not unlocked until the Friday of. It was fine overall. At first, I hated it but I think it was okay to adjust to. Incredibly easy class however as I had a 100% on every assignment we did. She was fine but the TA was SO rude.
The absolute worst teacher at CSU. Do not take any classes with aime, she is extremely disrespectful and rude, her assignments, exams, quizzes and so forth have the most confusing instructions, and if you do poorly she will not give feedback that provides any insight. She is disrespectful, and makes things extremely difficult. DONT TAKE HER CLASS!
In a class called "creative experiences for children" students were put through the ringer, receiving super low scores on projects they worked hard on. No clarification of directions, and was extremely standoffish when students asked for help. I do not recommend.
Aimee is a good person who is passionate about what she teaches, however her style is not for everyone. She is open to helping students, but her assignments can be a little hard to navigate at first. You will have to put some time into this class to get a good grade, not 100% applicable for Child Life students looking to use it as a play course.
Dr. Walker was one of the most caring professors I had. She actually listened to my needs and was really supportive during my difficult times. She provided Echo360, office hours, she gave a lot of second chances for a better grade on papers. Very passionate! Provided study guides, if you do the readings and study guides you will do just fine.
This professor has extremely unclear expectations and descriptions of her assignments. Every person I have talked to in the class has a shared level of confusion when it comes to what she expects from us. The content is easy and has its educational purposes but her approach and teaching styles are very unprofessional and confusing.
she gives NO clear descriptions on assignments at all and then you get a horrible grade with no explanation on why. the projects are hard, the lectures are very boring and do not make any sense. i feel like i have learned nothing in this class but worked so hard on assignments
I have never left a review for a professor before, but this professor really earned it. DO NOT take a class with Aimee Walker. She refused to put the syllabus up on the Canvas page, then proceeded to put up a quiz about the syllabus and took points off if you did not email her to ask why the syllabus was not posted yet. Least helpful professor.
Aimee Walkers class drove me out of my major. Her lack of teaching ability made the class unbearable. She gave no response when asked a question about her unclear grading and she often was rude and refused to explain projects citing we "needed to figure it out on our own in order to learn the course materials", also giving us no materials in canvas
very meh. lectures are boring and you don't need to take notes. i only go to her class to ask questions about the homework because her directions are unclear never know what your grade will be. hard to reach by email, but very kind. class was insanely easy
Her class was not hard at all, lectures are extremely long but are helpful for the final project. Instructions about assignments are clear and she is helpful when you ask her questions. Just go to class and easy A will be earned. Attendance is not required but sometimes she will ask for a sign-in sheet for extra credit.
She was a really nice professor and is really lenient with due dates. You could redo any assignment except exams which made things a lot easier. At least one assignment and one quiz a week, plus the papers you have to write which can get overwhelming, but you just need to keep track.
Dr. Walker is a nice woman and cares about her students. However, this course was terrible. HDFS 217 is the most boring and honestly stupid class I've ever taken. The assignments make no sense and the lectures are useless.
I honestly think she is great. She is very knowledgeable in early childhood education. The lectures are always interesting. She respects input in discussions and is flexible about her syllabus and course schedule. However, I don't like the insufficient feedback for assignments, and grades seem randomly assigned. This might be due to the TA.
worst professor ever, makes me consider changing majors just so I never have to take one of her classes ever again. The course itself is just stupid and a waste of time, doesn't explain assignments in class, very clear she has a "figure it out on your own mindset." doesn't release assignments til night before they're do and doesn't let u work ahead
Extremely difficult to reach out to her ever. She will give office hours at times no one will be able to make and when you do go to her online office hours she is not there. Then never responds to her emails. Her lectures are long and a majority of it was about her. Would not recommend taking a class from her.
Expectations are not clear and she does not give assignment sheets or tell you what you're supposed to be doing at all
I mostly just learned the class by teaching myself. Lecture-only class with just busy work that I got nothing out of, I put really no effort into the class and ended with an A-. Just do okay on the 2 exams. The teacher is also annoying in her own way not being able to reach her through Canvas and it took 2 months to put my scantron exam grade in.
Aimee does not provide assignments that are of worth to your learning. She uses quizzes to test your baseline knowledge of course content w/o having you apply it to anything substantial until the case study assignments. These assignments have little to no feedback, the same feedback to all of her students that does not apply, and blank rubrics.
Aimee did a horrendous job at providing individual feedback. She would use blanket feedback that repeatedly stated the same thing- not sure she even read my assignments. I do not think I received a grade on any assignment within a reasonable timeframe. I genuinely hope that there are no further classes that I will be required to take from her.
Canvas is set up in the most complicated way possible, very hard to find assignments and due dates are not posted until the week of. She is not patient with individual needs for family emergency, I missed two assignments and she would not allow for makeups. Lectures are boring and hard to follow.
Genuinely one of the worst professors here at CSU. I have had the hardest time getting a hold of her, and her responses are vague. It was like she didn't even read my emails. Her lectures are good, but the disorganization on Canvas kills the entire course. And there is little direction, and everything is so hard to find. Would never recommend it.
This is my second time taking Aimee and I can honestly say don't take her. Although you can pass by in her classes pretty easily, she genuinely is not helpful if you have any questions or concerns. Besides not being helpful she also is just rude when you try and get help. I have not met one person who liked her or felt they learned from her.
The class was alright. Walker doesn't provide the best instructions for assignments and it's hard to access her outside of class. She can be a little rude sometimes but her overall class is easy to pass as long as you attend lectures. It's also nice that there aren't many exams and one big paper
Aimee is my least favorite professor I have had so far at CSU. Every time I walked into her class I felt like I was entering the gates of hell. She does not allow you to view your overall grade on Canvas nor does she open modules prior to the week before. Overall very incompetent. But, if you are a charades fanatic, this is the class for you.
You have to come to class, and read the textbook. If you do you will learn. Aimee is very knowledgeable about child development, ECE admin, and early childhood navigation in general. She is a great resource if you need for a variety of things. She wants her students to succeed. Unfortunately grading isn't timely or always clear.
This professor was by far my least favorite this semester. The fact that she finally started putting in grades the Friday of FINALS week. Isn't that a little late? That's not all though, she tells us that she is neurodivergent at least four times every class. Good luck trying to email her, that's too much for her brain to handle.
Not respectful of students, no clear guidelines or assignment requirements.
has been posting notes for the wrong class. horrible and hard to reach
Dr. Walker is nearly impossible to reach. Cancels class nearly every week. Unorganized
Horrible professor, should have never gone into teaching. No email policy but doesn't answer canvas or make her office hours easy to understand or well known. Literally so awful, pls take class with anyone else if you can
SO difficult. Not understanding or flexible. SO INCREDIBLY VAGUE!!!!!! will not explain for the life of her but can't reach her either. OH and usually no ta
Aimee has a different teaching style than most however I found her class pretty easy. The class does get pretty repetitive towards the end of the semester but overall it isn't difficult and as long as you show up at least once a week it is a pretty easy A. She can be a little disorganized which I think is the only downside of taking her classes
She is nice and an easy grader, but she is SO hard to reach outside of class and blames it on her neurodivergency. She says not to email her because she's neurodivergent, so message her on teams, but she doesn't respond on there either. SOOO frustrating
this class was a fever dream. no one had any clue what was going on cause she had the wildest class structure but she would give you a 100 even if you didn't meet the assignment criteria so the class was super easy. honestly felt like a waste of time.
No guidance or help the entire semester. Terrible feedback and no explanations on assignments
I am not gonna lie, it felt like I was an online student in this class like I think I went a total of 4 times and finished with an A. I'd say the most challenging part is the part but as long as you follow the rubric you'll do fine and she lets you correct it up to a 100 anyways. I'd recommend personally
accidental review pls ignore
I have taken 2 classes with Aimee now and have loved both of them. The assignments are super straight forward and attendance is not mandatory which is amazing. I took this class at 8am and rarely went and fully understood the class. Very approachable and does anything to help get you through the class.
Incredibly vague assignment instructions, and no way to reach her outside of class (wouldn't respond to emails, only hosted one office hour the entire semester). Didn't grade any assignments until finals week, so never knew how you were doing on these vague assignments, and had no time to correct it until it was too late. Clearly doesn't care.
Aimee is mean and backhanded to students. When I had a medical issue, she told me to text my mom in the hall—I'm an adult, I can handle my phone. She teaches half the HDFS classes, and I don't want her again. Her class is disorganized, repetitive, and boring. There's no outline, and I have no idea what we're even learning.
Aimee is a horrific professor. The class is horribly unstructured and teaches nothing. She makes you agree to a policy where you have to take anything un-class related outside. A girl in front of me was working on something else when Aimee went up to her and kept poking the girl and said had to take it outside, the girl told her off. An icon.
If you're looking for a class where you actually learn, look elsewhere. Aimee provides little to no actual instruction and expects students to figure things out. She won't take responsibility for her own lack of clear instruction, if you want a professor who teaches, I recommend avoiding her, but unfortunately, she teaches all of the HDFS classes.
Aimee is the worst prof at CSU. She just yaps the whole time and is very unclear on what she wants us to do. She gets angry and calls people out for being on their devices and when people are whispering (this is a 200+ lecture) I believe she just talks to hear herself talk. This class will piss you off and waste your time, dont take it.
She treats everyone like a child in class but grades so hard for no reason, and I didn't learn a single thing and I went to every class. She uses being neurodivergent as an excuse for literally everything: want to email her, don't even try; want to see what your grade was on an assignment, wait till the last couple weeks of the semester. DON'T TAKE
Ok yall, I had Aimee a lot, and I mean A LOT. Although she is a good person and genuinely cares about you and about your wellbeing she tends to be kind of vague and mildly confusing. her grading system was really frustrating because I would turn a well written assignment in and get a 0. Would recommend avoiding her if you get annoyed easily.
She is highly unstructured and confusing in her directions for assignments. She's never prepared (struggled to open an exam giving us 15 less minutes, doesn't open the module for the week until 2pm Monday). If you find a mistake it will take her 3-6 weeks to correct the error after you message her or approach her after class repeatedly (6 times).
Dr. Walker is hands down the most confusing and vague professor at CSU. She isn't clear on assignments, and tells you to do whatever you think is best, and then grades on an incredible difficult rubric (which she usually doesn't provide before the grading process). If you want to reach her via email, don't even bother. Avoid at all costs.
I have had her multiple times now. She is nice, but omg her classes are a mess. She gives these huge assignments with no rubric, but then takes off a ton of points for things I didn't even know I was being graded on. You ask for help, and she says do whatever you think is best. There are errors on the chapter quizzes every single week
Aimee is one of my least favorite professors at CSU. Her instructions are always super unclear, and I never knew what was happening in her class, even when I attended. The lectures are boring and don't relate to the assignments. The only positive is that the tests are easy. Overall, I'd recommend taking a class with someone else if possible.
Aimee is by far the worst prof Ive ever had, she grades on spelling and aesthetics of an assignment instead of actual content, yells at you for talking or being on your phone in a 200 person lecture, and is extremely unclear with expectations. Ive wanted to be a teacher my whole life and she made me hate kids and want to switch my major to business
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She is a tough grader and allows corrections, but never tells you what you did wrong and how to fix it. She says "you're on the right path" and that's it. She also never answers questions, and when you ask something, she refers to the rest of the class to answer, as if we're all not confused. She also doesn't do emails.
Do not take Aimee if possible. I love the content discussed in 310 but she made it awful. I asked her to fix a grade that she incorrectly put in SIX times before it actually got changed. Content discussed is confusing majority of the time. Assignments are fairly easy overall, but if you can take someone else, do it.
She is impossible to set up a time to meet with if you have questions and doesn't explain thing well at all. I would not take her classes. She also doesn't put in grades until very last second.
A lot of negativity here, but I want to highlight Dr. Walker's dedication. While she can be a bit disorganized and sometimes confusing with assignments, her passion for teaching truly shines through. If you approach her assignments and exams with thought and care, they're pretty straightforward and manageable. The topics aren't super hard.
Aimee only makes this class accommodating for herself and not her students!!! Her TA grades assignments like they don't even communicate. When you reach out for help, it takes over a month to get an answer. Aimee is insanely sarcastic when students ask for help or do not know the answer even though her lectures provide zero impact or information.
The only reason the course was difficult is because she was so disorganized it was impossible to know what she wanted. At the beginning of the semester she told us slideshows would be posted, but there were multiple slideshows that were never posted despite people telling her. The final covered the entire semester with no time for review. NOT a fan
DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!!!! The instructions she gives rarely make sense, and when you ask for clarification, she just reiterates what was said and gives no further explanation. She also treats her students like children despite them being in college. She is also very difficult to reach and only uses Microsoft Teams for communication.
I will NEVER take this professor again. She grades based on what she's feeling and not on the actual performance of the paper. She is so disorganized and the tests were a hot mess! Do NOT take her!!!
If I could give a 0 I would. Dr. Walker is the worst teacher I have had throughout my schooling career. She is rude, does not give clear instructions, and is simply just awful. I have had her for the last 3 semesters in different classes and I can confidently say if I were to compare all of my notes from these 3 classes they would all be the same.
She will not answer questions in class, even if the question applies to everyone; you have to schedule a meeting or come to her select few student support hours. She says she will respond via Teams in 48 hours, more like 5 days. Although you can redo assignments, you probably won't understand the comments they leave enough to fix your assignment.
I can say without a doubt this is the worst professor I have ever had. She makes students feel bad about asking questions and humiliates them when they do. It is highly frustrating that she is my only option for so many classes. I have already had to take three with her and I can confidentially say I have the same notes from all of them.
She just makes up whatever rules she wants in the moment. Unclear directions, deletes rubrics, assignments directions are a riddle. In the beginning, she used a sign-in sheet on paper. Then, she switched to iClicker. In which if you had issues with logging in, instead of marking you present for attendance, she makes you use extra credit. Like, wha?
If I could give this class a 0 I would. Aimee Walker is a horrible teacher, extremely passive aggressive and almost impossible to reach outside of class. She told us that to be a good parent, you have to ASK your toddler if it's okay to change their diaper. I have so much more to say and I would if there wasn't a word limit. AVOID HER IF U CAN
Terrible professor. No compassion—ignored my hospitalizations and told the SDC it was my problem. Grading is vague, assignments make no sense, and she rambles off-topic. Doesn't respond to students and uses “neurodivergency” as an excuse. Avoid her if you value your GPA or sanity.
She grades harshly without a rubric or clear instructions, making it hard to meet expectations. She's behind on grading—midterms still aren't returned—and sometimes posts grades after revision deadlines. Her teaching lacks structure, and she struggles to clearly explain assignments. Overall, she is disorganized and ineffective.
Please do not take this class unless you absolutely have to. Aimee is so so unclear about what she wants for assignments, the grading is so harsh for the simplicity of the assignments. Assignments will not be graded for months, and the feedback is copied and pasted for everyone; everyone gets the same feedback. Talking to her is a genuine pain.
Absolutely avoid taking Aimee. She never has clear instructions on any of her assignments, never has a rubric for them and speaks out her frustration on how we don't follow her guidelines when there aren't any provided. Feedback is also copy and paste among everyone in the class, none of it is individualized for your benefit.
Worst professor I have ever had. She doesn't allow emails, offers no support, and shows little compassion. She often shames students for confusion and uses being neurodivergent as an excuse for unprofessional behavior. The class lacked clarity, empathy, and respect. An extremely hard grader for simple assignments. Would not recommend.
wow... she and her TAs are actually the worst people to ever walk the HDFS department.
Actually, so condescending and by far one of the worst professors I've had. Doesn't provide rubrics and grades very harshly but that might be on the TA. Most ECE and HDFS students will have to take her so just mentally prepare you will be doing everything by yourself and not given any support.
This professor seems deeply unsatisfied with her own life and seems to take it out on her students. She belittles her students and is nearly impossible to reach. I would suggest finding another teacher if you can
Honestly, the worst professor I've ever had. She tends to single out students and comes across as condescending and self righteous. Class time is frequently used for activities that feel unproductive, such as walking up and down the sidewalk discussing weekly takeaways, rather than focusing on the course material. Avoid her if you can.
Dr Walker is extremely passive aggressive, gets defensive when taking feedback, disorganized, and blames her mistakes on neurodivergency. her lectures are hard to follow, her canvas is a mess, her GTA is horrible as well. no clear rubric for major assignments either.
Unorganized and unclear with her assignments even with in-class explanations. Extremely tough grader that will not give you adequate feedback, and she will take months to grade a single assignment. Blames everything on her neurodivergency while failing to recognize other students concerns, and belittles students out that disagree with her.
Please, please, please do not take this class with her if you can help it. She is horrible at communication and does not let you email her (hello?????) because she's neurodivergent. Her lectures were not engaging, and I got nothing out of this class. worst professor I've had so far.
Good luck. She sucks. Assignments are very confusing, instructions are unclear, and the assignments are graded too harshly. Very disorganized and so unreachable, it's insane. Takes forever to grade assignments. She's very condescending and her GTA sucks too. Literally a horrible professor. I had to take the L for this class, unfortunately.
She was so so so awful. She came off as a nice woman but as the year went on she became condescending, and won't help you unless it's convenient for her due to her "neurodivergent mind". If you do take her class, ARGUE ARGUE ARGUE until you win against her. that is my only advice.
This teacher is incredibly strict with grading, but doesn't even grade herself—the TA does. She's rude when students ask questions and just tells everyone to “read the syllabus” instead of helping. The class feels discouraging and unwelcoming. Definitely would not recommend.

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. Genuinely the worst professor I have ever had, extremely passive aggressive and not helpful what so ever when questions come up. Grades extremely harshly and rubrics don't line up with comments on the assignment.
She was condescending. AVOID this professor. If you ask a question she will belittle you. The class is very disorganized, not engaging. The few large assignments you have will not be graded in a timely manner, the criteria is not clear. Believe all the bad reviews, I agree with them. I'm sure some will be removed but they are honest.
Extremely confusing class. No one ever really knew what Aimee wanted, but we got graded harshly anyway. It felt like we were just guessing the whole time. The GTA seemed caught in the middle. Aimee blames everything on being neurodivergent, but it's a poor excuse for being a bad professor. Wouldn't recommend.
Aimee is the best professor at CSU. She is very caring. Her lectures are pleasant to hear. She loves her students. She's fantastic.
Aimee is a phenomenal professor. She is extremely knowledgeable about the course material and it's clear that she loves teaching it. Her lectures were interesting and super fun! Her exams represent his quizzes, practice exams, study guides, and lectures exactly. As long as you take the time to look over study guides, you will do very well.
Dr. Walker is a very unprofessional & disrespectful professor. Many things were unacceptable in her classroom but the thing that bothered me the most was the way she spoke to her students. She belittled them and had no patience. She is also inaccessible and her grading is completely arbitrary. If possible, avoid this professor at all costs.
Aimee Walker is the best professor in the entire world. Please do not miss opportunity to register for her class. You will learn a lot. Do not listen to haters because haters are gonna hate.
If you work hard, you will succeed in this course. Aimee is always there to support you. She is a great human being. She cares for her students. Please register for her course.
The worst professor I have ever had. Coming to class everyday will feel like dragging nails on a chalkboard, no respect for her students questions, accomodations, or concerns. She expects you to adjust to her neurodivert needs (mentioned EVERY class) and never show a spec of willingness to help her students succeed. RUN RUN pick a new professor.
Not care abt your needs, unclear grading requirements, a horrible attitude every time a student ask for help, and no communication outside of class. She will not care if you are in the hospital all morning before class (almost passed out in the back) and she was rude and condescending just to cancel the next class because she had a sore throat.
all of the good scores are her TAs or the few students she accommodates to while the rest of us beg and plead with her, attending extra credit opportunities, working every single weekend past 3-4am to be met with a hostile and rude learning environment. do not take this professor there are 70+ 1 star reviews for a reason. runnnnnnnnnn!
I'm a senior and coming back to write this review because she was actually the worst professor I have ever had. Didn't even use email. Good luck
I have never had a conflict with Amy and received an A in her class, but her levt
had to leave another review bc im irritated. assignments suck and are so extra compared to the rambling she does in class that does very little to help with the assignment itself
i cant stand her or this class
Do not take a class with this professor, she grades unbelievably harsh, and does not make sense.
Nice person, not good teacher. Her lectures make no sense and confuse me more than they help me. Only cares about APA and is not help with how she would like you to do assignments. Very dismissive when you have questions or ask for any kind of help. Her assignments are unclear and don't feel neccessary to what we are learning in any way.
While this class appears to be about infant and child development, do not be deceived. The only thing that actually matters in this class is your ability to pick up on the niche intricacies of APA format. Or rather not real APA format, but Professor Walker's own personal version of APA format that seems to ebb and flow with whatever is convenient.
Gives terrible and poorly worded feedback, then docks you points on her mistakes. She takes forever to grade assignments but expects us to use her feedback. She is very strict on APA and not the actual content of the assignments.
Don't waste your time taking this class. Aimee and her TA are so confusing, condescending, and rude, nothing is clear and I can confidently say I've learned nothing so far this semester. I'm counting down the days for this to be over.
Aimee is just really challenging to learn from. She's a nice lady when she's in a good mood but she's very sensitive, you never know what you're gonna get. This class often feels like a waste of time and I wish I could say I was learning more, especially since this is my major. And everyone is clueless as to what we're supposed to be learning
Aimee is the worst. Do not take this class, believe the reviews and thank yourself later.
She is very kind and provides sooo many resources (is flexible if you communicate as well). It can be confusing at times as her canvas set up is very overwhelming. There is a textbook but I did fine without really ever reading it, I did have to use it for some assignments though. She also grades stuff very late. Go to class and it will be easy.
She is the worst teacher in the world. She is completely rude and doesn't even grade her own assignments. Then after the day before the semester ends she will give you a zero on a assignment that is worth 100 points. This assignment was already graded from the student aid had a B. There is no way to correct it. She does this intentionally.
The absolute worst professor ever.
I would not call Aimee a competent professor. She refuses to communicate through email, gets visibly offended+upset in class when a student makes constructive feedback.
believe these reviews; aimee lacks thorough communication on her assignment guidelines and expectations, and expects every student to know exactly what she wants. i received a 0 on a 100 point assignment purely for "plagiarism" and i have to speak with the student resolution center. avoid at all costs!
have had her a million times and this is by far the worst one.
She is very unreasonable and graded very harsh and at times her grading doesn't make sense nor are her expectations for assignments. She doesn't make things clear of what she wants and doesn't want. Highly do not recommend
Released final grades 24 hours before due, just to give half the class 0s on the final project, a 100 point assignment we had been working on the entire semester. Portions of the project were due periodically thru the semester, and most of class had good grades leading up to final submission. Gave 0s & filed for "plagiarism reports" out of nowhere
worst class and professor i have ever encountered
everything everyone below me said!!!!!! had a 95 leading up to final grades being posted and dropped to a C less than 24 hours before grades were due to the university. she had plenty of time to address any concerns she had with me BEFORE NOW. accused of plagiarism on final draft project but got 100% on my draft submission and all A's prior to this
WHAT THE HECKKKKKKKK ABSOLUTELY NOT
crying over thinking about this professor and class.
I am so frustrated she is VERY VERY VERY difficult. this is by far the only class i have ever taken where every person in the class collectively shares these feelings and anger (genuinely cannot think of one person who finds her easy to work with)
absolutely maddening to be paying for these courses
She makes learning very difficult
False accusations of plagiarism, very harsh with grading.
Do not take this class I am crying my eyes out. I had a 95% and she posted our final at 10pm before grades were due and reported me for plagiarism for not citing correctly and formatting issues. She is the most unorganized and unethical person I have ever met. Not to mention all prior assignments I was given A's on that were on the final.
Gave me a zero on the final the night before grades were due and reported me for academic dishonesty. Met with her in the moring and she said if I fight the report it could end up on my academic record and look bad when applying to grad school. I had a 96% before and this dropped me to a C+. I'm also a senior and never had this issue before.
Reported half my classmates including myself for academic dishonesty and incorrect usage of APA. I advise against taking any classes with her, she will not teach you course content.
She did not grade any assignments all semester. She does not answer emails and is condescending to students. I felt extremely confused about my grade and misguided on assignments throughout the semester. She has her own APA format.
