Professor Sundar is one of the best professors in the school. She is kind, patient, and very caring for the students. Being an online class, she managed the large class size so well and taught Python in an interesting way. Would definitely take any of her classes in the future.
This was a useful class to learn Python. Definitely a valuable learning experience. The professor was very nice. I think she is very well versed in all aspects of the course.
Very useful class for someone who is new to coding.
The professor did a great job in a tough environment with online teaching and a large class. She was kind and available to help even outside the class. Worth taking this class since I learnt a lot about coding.
Great professor and one of the best courses in SOM. You can definitely take this course if you want to learn basic and intermediate Python. The assignments are quite useful to learn many new concepts.
Professor Sundar is very passionate. Given the pandemic situation and an online class with a large class size, she taught the course very well. The best part of the course was the final project. It helped me learn how to analyze data. I feel this skill is very helpful for someone like me aspiring to get a concentration in Business Analytics.
If you want to learn to code, definitely take this class. Labs and assignments are aligned to lectures and give you a lot of practice. The lectures on data analytics are the best part of the course. The professor was very kind and helpful.
Very useful course and nice professor. There are 3 assignments and 1 exam. Easy to manage if you plan your work well. Can definitely take this course.
Seemed like a solid overall prof at first, but has taken months to get some of our assignments back and doesnt respond to emails. Assignments are easy and the test was hard. Very useful class and she does a pretty good job teaching it, its just the test counts for way too much and we dont know half our grades
Would 10/10 recommend taking MIS 325 with Professor Sundar. She's amazing and truly cares about making sure her students understand what's happening in class. I also really liked how she made the classes interactive by giving examples for students to do during class instead of just lecturing the whole time.
One of the best professors in SOM. She is kind, patient, helpful, caring, and truly an excellent professor. I had no idea about coding before taking her class. But now, I know Python and plan to take more Python courses as this class has inspired me a lot.
Be careful if you take a class with this professor. The exam is worth 40 percent of your grade which is crazy. She also takes months to grade and when you do get your grades, there is no feedback. She also doesn't respond to emails. The professor is nice but better to avoid.
The best programming course I have ever taken. Recommend taking this course if you want to learn Python. The course has a lot of useful Python concepts. The professor is very nice and passionate. Her teaching style is amazing.
This course is very helpful for someone who is new to coding. It covers the basics of Python and data analysis. The professor is very nice and helpful.
Professor Sundar helped make learning Python both easy and enjoyable. Professor Sundar is receptive of feedback and wants all her students to succeed. Her lectures are easy to follow and the assignments and exam relate well to what we covered in class.
The professor has almost zero availability outside of class. Also, the professor doesn't answer emails and never returns any work. Try to avoid if possible.
CQS 311 was the best class I had this semester. The professor was so accommodating and caring. With the pandemic situation and remote learning, this was the only class this semester that I liked the most.
This is a very useful course to learn coding. Definitely take it if you want to learn python. The professor is amazing. She is one of the best professors I ever had.
TA and Prof never responds to emails. Professor is unwilling to meet outside class. Does not grade work and just gives students grades without feedback.
Tough Grader. Her lectures were easy to understand and labs are piece of cake, but the exam and Homeworks are way harder than what she taught. She gave grades until the last minute with no explanations. If you fail to do well on the exam, that means you will get a poor grade overall. No bonus credits also.
Very useful class. It was a mandatory class and it's definitely worth taking it. The course is fully Python and the concepts you learn in this course are useful in a few other SOM courses. The professor did a great job handling 150+ students in a zoom class. She is very patient, kind, and helpful.
Great professor. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about coding. This was one of the best classes I had this semester. It's easy to get an A if you do the labs and assignments and understand the class material.
The exam takes up a big percentage of your grade and was extremely difficult. She is a very harsh grader and gave very little feedback on any of the assignments and labs that we did throughout the semester. She also did not answer any emails and was difficult to get in contact with. Would not recommend taking a class with her.
Great course. Very helpful to learn a lot of Python concepts. The professor is sweet and wonderful. She is very caring and dedicated. Can definitely take this course if you want to learn Python.
This is the best course I had this semester. This is a programmig course which is not that difficult. Recommend taking this course if you want to learn Python. Professor Sundar is a great teacher. She is very kind and helpful. Attendance is not mandatory but attending her lectures is recommended to do your labs, assignments, test and project well.
Professor Sundar is a great teacher. She is very knowledgeable and well versed in Python. The course is very useful to learn Python and analytics. Its worth taking this course as you can learn lot of coding.
This is a great course to learn Python and was the best course I had this semester. The professor is very kind, caring and passionate. Can definitely take this course.
Professor Sundar is one of the best professors in SOM. She is very sincere and passionate. Her lectures are easy to follow and you can get an A easily if you attend her lectures and do the labs and assignments. The final project was the best part of the course. It helps to learn analytics.
Took for CQS 311 in Fall 2020. Great professor who taught introductory Python coding in a very easy way to understand. Only complaint that as of taking this course there was only 1 exam worth around 40% of your grade. Other than that this is a great class and I reccomend taking it with her!
Prof. Sundar is truly one of the best professors I have had in SOM. She is a great teacher and takes into account our feedback and is always welcoming of questions during any point of the class in zoom. She is very caring, kind, and helpful. Definitely recommend taking this course with her.
Professor Sundar was great. She makes learning code easy and understandable. Only one exam which is nice and it was completely open note. As long as you just show up to the class, and follow her lectures you'll be fine. Once you have all the notes its pretty easy to understand, and she does a great job of taking it slow and helping her students.
Professor Sundar's knowledge of programming is vast and she is more than qualified to teach MIS325. If you pay attention in class and look at the notes she posts after you should not have a difficult time on the assignments. At times the class can be a drag but I think that has more to do with the subject material rather than Sundar's personality.
Definitely take this course if you wish to learn Python. This is one of the best courses in SOM. Fully hands-on and you will learn a lot. Professor Sundar is a great teacher. She is very kind, caring, helpful, and friendly.
Professor Sundar is the sweetest! She makes learning Python coding very simple and attending her class was enjoyable. She is always there to help you if you have trouble with any lab, assignment, or project that is assigned. Python is a very useful program and I would definitely take a class with this professor again! Exams are straightforward!
The nicest professor I have ever seen. Definitely recommend taking her class.
She's super understanding and helpful when you get stuck on assignments. She responds to emails pretty fast and her lectures are easy to follow. I would definitely recommend her class again.
Professor Sundar is a great teacher and a great person who truly cares for her students. Definitely recommend taking her course.
The test is nothing like the exam prep sheet provided. I got 100s on all the labs and assignments with ease but I failed the test because it was so different from what I was led to expect. Ruined my chance of getting an A.
The tests are graded too heavily. 2 tests make up 50% of your grade. Also, you get 0 feedback from your labs and assignments.
Very hard to understand. Goes way too fast. Expects people to understand python before a beginner python course. Tests are NOTHING like what she teaches in class
This is a useful course where you learn Python basics and some analytics. Recommend taking this course if you want to learn Python. Professor Sundar is a great teacher. She is kind and helpful. Attendance is not mandatory but attending her lectures is recommended to receive an 'A'.
2 tests are half of your grade. The exam study sheet is subpar and the labs/assignments are not enough to ace your exam. You get no feedback on your work and she doesn't answer emails. Decent with lectures, but the tests are not fair.
Look, she's a sweet lady. However, sometimes you can get lost in class pretty easily. Also, her labs & assignments come with no feedback whatsoever. She's also hard to get a hold of; students were constantly told to "speak to the TAs." Her exam policy is frustrating too: two exams, each worth 50% of your grade. Tough.
Professor Sundar was a great professor. She broke down very complex concepts in ways we could all understand. Her class was very enjoyable to attend and she seemed very knowledgeable on the topic. This was a helpful course to learn Python programming and I strongly recommend this course for those who are new to Python.
Sundar is literally the worst professor Ive had at Bing. She literally bases half your grade off of a midterm and a final that have nothing to do with how the class is lectured. I would rather teach myself coding over her. I spent hours studying for the midterm and final exam and still did awful. Terrible professor Bing needs to get rid of her.
Worst class I have taken in School of Management so far. Lectures were very hard to follow throughout the year as she went incredibly fast. It was also very hard to hear her as she did not use a microphone. TAs did not help and the exams did not reflect the content taught in lecture and lab. Much harder than it should have been.
I like Professor Sundar. She is one of the nicest professors I've had in Bing so far. She gives a lot of extra credit. The labs and project were really easy. However, 50% of your grade is based on 2 relatively hard exams. I would study a lot for those exams especially.
Professor Sundar is a nice person but arguably the worse Professor I've taken at Binghamton. There is no textbook and limited homework, including easy Labs and Assignments. However, this was the most boring class I have ever taken. Her tests ae completely unfair and nearly impossible to pass even with a cheat sheet. Take someone else at all costs.
The assignments, labs, and project are fair; unfortunately, theyre only 50% of your grade. The other 50% is based on two tests formatted entirely differently from how you learn and apply to any assignments throughout the course. She places her visions of students efforts in the wrong places, leading her course to be challenging.
She is a nice person and she does care but her class is so dry and so poorly taught. We mostly learnt functions but we were not shown the practical application of the functions until the very end. The exam are of moderate to high difficulty. The study guides for those exams are very easy. Do not be fooled by the study guide. It's not that easy.
Professor Sundar is great and works very hard to teach us the aspects of Python. With the course meeting only once per week classload was easy to manage which made learning python easier and more enjoyable. Useful course overall.
The professor introduced and explained new concepts clearly, so I was able to understand Python better as a beginner. The professor was a great teacher and was very knowledgeable about the topics she was teaching. I would like to recommend this class to learn Python.
Tests are really hard, considering how easy the actual class is. Projects and assignments are graded on completion, not on accuracy, so make sure you do every single part to them.
All assignments other than the tests were pretty easy. Make an effort to go to class because if you fall behind it becomes rather difficult to catch back up. All in all she knows the concepts very well and is very patient with students. Second of the two exams is a real pain though.
Professor Sundar is very passionate about the course and always available for any questions. This course was very insightful as it provides us students with a basic foundation of Python that is becoming more relevant in every business now. Labs were useful to help me study for tests and learn the important points from every concept in the course.
She did her best to accommodate each individual but struggled with the online format. She did care and taught the material very well. Homework was not too challenging and was the right amount to learn well.
Hard course in general, very hard to understand the professor (liked the course on zoom, better than in person). Grades are off python 5 labs, 2 assignments, and 2 exams. Professor is nice but did not respond to my emails. Questions go to TA's but they were also difficult to understand. Felt very lost in this course.
concepts were explained well and she made clear what was important. She repeated important concepts multiple times to make sure you get the information. If you stay on top of your work and pay attention in this class, you will do well
Sundar attempts to give students the lowest grade possible for this course. Every class she began by stating how she cannot magically give students higher grades- but gives 2 tests (25% total grade each) that consist of mostly trick/specific questions that she glosses over during lectures. Her "extra credit" was 5 questions at the end of the final.
worst professor ive ever had. she takes forever to respond to emails. she doesnt care about you at all or your grades, she is not understanding at all and refuses to give extra credit or clear feedback on why you are doing so bad. labs and projects are so easy compared to tests. accent makes her impossible to understand so lecture is pointless.
I like how Professor Sundar took her time explaining things and didn't rush materials. She also tried to give us real-life applications of topics and used plenty of examples to reinforce our comprehension. I enjoyed the hands-on experience of learning in this class and learning as the professor did the work in front of the class.
I did well in this course only because of previous Python experience. She explained materials clearly but never teach you what would be on exams. The two exams consist half of your grades, and the study guide given is unhelpful. She would ask you tricky questions that seldom emphasized in the class. Try to understand each code(right and wrong).
She explains material well. The TAs are also not very helpful. There are only 2 tests throughout the semester and each one is 25% of your grade. The material you are tested on is so different from the material taught in class, therefore it is difficult to succeed in the class because difficult tests make up a large portion of your final grade.
Posted online lectures for the first few classes, but then switched it to be in person. I would definitely recommend attending all the classes seeing as it is difficult to learn the information without doing so. She allowed a page cheat sheet on the midterm and final which was extremely helpful. She was very accessible and was always helpful.
Although 50% of your grade is basically handed to you, the other 50% comes from two very difficult tests. Even though we were allowed to use a cheat sheet on both exams, they were still very hard. Basically, there is not much work for the class, but that makes the grading system very unforgiving. Avoid if possible.
This course is a great intro course to coding. I was afraid at first because I had no coding experience, but the professor explained everything very clearly and provided examples of each concept in class, which made understanding everything much easier. This is definitely a class that all SOM students should take.
Professor Sundar is very kind and helpful. I liked how she did the class notes step by step and explained everything clearly. I also felt the labs were helpful in providing practice for what we learned. I really enjoyed this class.
Very accessible professor who is also very responsive. She makes the outline of her course clear and teaches in a clear and concise manner. She was always helpful.
honestly one of the easiest classes ive taken at bing. just labs every week or sometimes assignments that sum up the concepts from what you've learned. there are only 2 tests: midterm and final (w/ extra cred questions). overall, the prof is very clear when she goes over the class problems but it might be a bit boring if you alr know python.
Very accessible professor who is also very responsive. She makes the outline of her course clear and teaches in a clear and concise manner. If I ever had any questions, she was always helpful.
Introduction to Python is the easier S core class since it represents 3 credits, unlike MIS311. She is sometimes difficult to understand and ending at 7 pm is tough but she wants you to learn and 50% of the grade is given to her with some effort. The lectures outline everything you need to know. For the exams, know the OUTPUT of the code!
Very easy homework, assignments, and one project. Allows a cheatsheet for the exams, but it won't save you if you don't study. Also offers extra credit on the exams. She never answered my emails, but others seem to say she did so maybe I was just unlucky lol. Very sweet person, would absolutely take her again. Explains very clearly and thoroughly.
the class was fair and easy. Just attend the lecture and all the hw and base it on what you learn in class. she can talk very fast and hard to understand but just rise your hand and shes happy to help you.
Amazing class and amazing professor. Felt like I learned way more compared to CQS 311. Any MIS or Finance major should definitely take this class.
Tough Class. Hard to understand, and grades late so you can't get a guage of where you sit in the class. TAs are useless.
Although she is a sweet person, her lectures can drag on. Although the assignments are quite simple, they do not prepare you for the test she gives. I would read the book instead in its entirety and also practice questions online. She definitely cares about her students and is always willing to chat. Create a good cheat sheet too!
this class is really not bad. as hard as it is with it being 6 pm and like many say, it drags on, just GO TO CLASS and PAY ATTENTION. if you're quick to learn things like these, nice. if not, read the (free) textbook, do the practice and bonus submissions, and make a killer cheat sheet. if you cant pass, they shouldn't have let you out of preschool
The professor seemed knowledgeable about Python and very well-rounded. I loved the way the professor explained concepts. It was very understandable to me and very structured. One of the few professors on this campus, that explained complex concepts in an understandable manner.
She's very knowledgeable about python. Her class is a little boring but informative and it's one of the few classes i've taken that i felt like i actually learned something new. you can bring a double sided cheat sheet to the midterm and final, and she posts the class notes online
She's really nice and helps students when they ask questions. Has great notes posted online. Is very clear with her notes when lecturing. Exams are 50% of the final grade but she allows a cheat sheet which helps. The assignments and homework are all based on topics went over in class, making them really easy.
She's a sweet person but can be strict when it comes to things. The lectures drag on occasionally and it can be difficult to keep up with her, but she is knowledgeable with the material and solid at explaining it. The exams are pretty hard and worth 50%, but the cheat sheet is a LIFESAVER. Make a good one and complete assignments, u will do fine.
Honestly, this class was ridiculous. I messed up the format on 2 of the labs and she was not understanding at all. The tests were extremely difficult, even with a detailed cheat sheet. Good luck.
I learned a lot about python in this class! Lectures are very detailed, but can drag on as she repeats a lot of things. The assignments are not hard (but very adamant that you send the correct file and in the right format) and you're allowed a cheat sheet for the exams. Just attend class, do the practice, have a good cheat sheet and you'll be fine.
the class/lectures dragged, but she is very friendly and had strict grading criteria, so follow directions. the course wasn't hard and was fairly easy, just study for exams and make good cheat sheets and you will be okay. 5 labs, 2 assignments, 1 project, a midterm, and a final. stay till the end of class for bonuses on your grade!
If you know Python, this class is a breeze. I didn't attend class and got 100 on both exams. Labs/hw are very easy. If you have a good cheat sheet the exams are very easy. She is very strict and not accommodating to your situation. Anything turned in late (even 1 hour) is NOT accepted for any credit, so be on top of assignments. Bonus opportunities
Python isn't the easiest subject to learn or to lecture about yet professor Sundar somehow gets it across, and quite effectively too. If you put in the effort to follow along in class and understand the coding without falling behind you should do well. She is very understanding and is overall a great woman. Take this class and study!
Professor Sundar seemed knowledgeable about Python and very well-rounded. I loved the way she explained concepts. It was very understandable to me and very structured. One of the few professors on this campus, that explained complex concepts in an understandable manner.
She's an amazing professor! She explained the concepts really clearly and she cares a lot about the course. She was also super helpful outside of class whenever I needed help.
Very knowledgeable and covers a lot of material efficiently without going too fast. She gives us time in class to work on code independently, which really helps solidify our learning. She is kind and always willing to help.
She explains stuff super slow so it's easy to follow, always happy teaching. HW is super easy, just don't be late lol. Midterm was chill w/ cheat sheet, final tougher so make a good one. Overall class is pretty easy if you just put any effort into it. She also gives a lot of study material and its only once a week so just go and you'll be fine.
she is actually a goated professor. goes very slow during lecture so you understand. make a good cheat sheet and do the practice workbooks. make sure to turn assignments in on time. if you don't put in any work to understand the content you will struggle without practicing on your own. should be a free A if you even try a little bit.
Her lectures are easy to follow along to. Responds to emails quickly and the TAs are very helpful. The grading criteria can be confusing on her assignments. But overall, a very solid professor.
Labs and assignments are easy but you have to make sure that you get them in on time because she penalizes harshly for late work. Deadlines are a little misleading...she makes assignments due at 8:00am so unless you plan on waking up before then, you have to submit at latest the day before. Tests are 60%. TA's don't respond to emails.
Does a great job of teaching concepts, the class is basically just CQS311 but slightly harder, she is super passionate about this stuff and it shows in her teaching. Glad i took this
I love how patient she was with teaching the course. She teaches in a slow manner that allows us to really try to understand the concepts while breaking it down. Great professor!
This is my second course with Prof. Sundar. She is professional and sweet and is eager to pass on the knowledge. She goes over material slowly explaining code line by line. The course reviews some material from her CQS 311 but adds advanced Python. The exams can be challenging but you will be fine if you pay attention in class.
