Very Hard. Lots of reading and work. Tests are very hard. Test are 2 days meaning their a part 1 and part 2 for the test. The first test more then 75% failed. Out of 35 students 20 dropped. She does not grade fair and expect a lot from you.

Yes, she is difficult and demanding of her students. She may seem mean, but she's really not. The reality is that she is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's a rarity in that she actually knows about what she teaches. She does not give pity passes. In other words she is everything a good teacher should be.
She is a very rude and ill mannered teacher. I would never recommend her. I dropped the class the 1st day!! I'v never seen such a rude and unprofessional teacher like her. DON NOT TAKE HER if you're not prepared to read 10 chapters every week!!!
Let's get serious this Professor was a terror! She gives you a list of 300 words that are going to be on the next exam the next week, and than she tells you to choose which 15 YOU think will be on the test and those are the ones you should study. I'm sorry this teacher is just rude! I am not afraid of hard work, but this teacher was crass & snotty. She was sarcastic, ill mannered and offensive. She has issues and really explodes on the students (and she says it). I can go on and on. I would never give her a good review. She may have lots to teach you but you can't get past her 'tude!
Bialo Padin is extremely hard, not so rude like others think. But she's demanding and difficult that's for sure. I like History and she saw that in me, she even told me i'm the best student in class, but she still gave me a B.
She's ok not as nice, but test are hard and not much review for them. if you are force to take her, well then just make sure you read every night and ask and answer any questions she has the next day just to get on her good side.

I do not understand how the school let this woman teach a material she was not familiar with. She was all over the place with dates and events when teaching. This class is EXTREMELY hard. To review for her tests she will give you a list of 100 or more topics that you have to know the definitions for, but only about 20 will be on the test. Oh, and 2 essays are required per test! With that said I tried really hard, and she was really fair, she gave me an A-. Also she is really funny, but I enjoy sarcasm.
If you like history and do the required reading you will do well. Listen in class and do the homework (you are a college student-don't whine about having to read). I found her lectures interesting. If you don't want to do the work, don't take the class.
This is an extremely hard class. She wants you to know every little detail especially when it comes to tests. On average she will assign 2-4 chapters to read every week. She is terrible teacher. I DO NOT recommend her. If you are looking for a challenge this is not class, because no matter how hard you try she will still give you a D or fail you.

Bialo-Padin does always try to be humorous but she only does it to make the class more fun. There is a lot of reading but only if you want to pass the exams. Other then that there isn't much work. Her class is very interesting and not that boring. I would actually recommend her if you want to learn.

Bialo-Padin is a great professor- the students are the ones who make it difficult to teach. Yes, she expects you to discern information from the given text, and she expects you to analyze it and develop some sort of conclusion about it, but what professor doesn't. The class is easy if you read the material and pay attention.
If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class to take. you have to work your a** off. her lectures are better then reading the text book. take down good notes and read the text books (there are two of them) and u might get an A- or a B+. i highly recommend this professor for those who love to study (nerds).
I took her last semester, she was the best!! She makes a 3 hour class fly by. Take your notes and study like you are suppose to do in college! You will get a good grade for your efforts! I learned so much from her. Anyone that complained about her is just lazy.

Her classes are not an easy A. Be prepared to read texts on a weekly basis, participate in class and do well on exams. Exams consist of multiple choice questions, short answer IDs and an essay. The essay will require thought and knowledge of the subject matter. She is a great professor and has a wonderful personality and love for her subject. I recommend her classes
Hey, if you are history major, take her. If not, run immediately, too difficult. You must read and understand the textbook, because her quizzes and tests were harder than you can imagine. Worst prof. ever met before.

Hardest professor I've come across in College but far from the hardest I've come across in my life, she expects quiet a lot from her students and she has every right too. This isn't elementary so for a professor to expect work out of you...SO WEIRD!!! I've learned quiet a lot from her, read the text,pay attention and you'll be fine.

Her class is certainly challenging but isn't that was collge is all about? She is a brilliant, extremely knowledgeable professor that is passionate about teaching. If you are remotely interested in learning something, challenging yourself and earning your grade I highly recommend her class. If your idea of effort is simply showing, good luck!

You will work hard. Harder than you ever have for any college course. You'll hear a lot of cursing, your invited to join in. You will hear all about the best parts of history- sex & torture & corruption. She is made of awesome. If your easily offended in general or turned off by primary sources, save everyone the trouble and take another course.

This is one of the hardest professors I have had. I got an A- and I can tell you it took everything in me to earn that grade. She acts like this is the only class you have. She is intelligent BUT she is offensive, sarcastic, a bit rude and talks extremely fast. My advice find another professor
I will certainly agree that her class is tough. Tests are mostly essays so you will really need to understand the material. Sure she can be a tad sarcastic and conescending but I personally found her amusing.The truth is if you apply yourself and do the work you will ultimately get what you deserve. She's extremely knowledgeable on the subject.

She knows her material but she speaks too fast and it's annoying when you ask her to repeat she says it in another totally different way or she'll say you'll pick up on it. Gives quizzes weekly to make sure students keep up with the reading. Quizzes and Exams are mostly short-paragraph or essay format. If you keep up with the reading, take lots of notes, understand the material and can write well, it is very possible to get an A. Not an easy professor, but not as bad as these reviews make her out to be.
She's gotta be my favorite professor besides my former English 102 professor. Hilarious at times,intimidating at others. Show up, bring your brain and be prepared to be asked to actually use it. Keep up with the reading and you will be fine. Difficult class, you have to work for your grade but you will learn alot. The key to a decent grade is the assigned book. Tests based on what's covered and if something isn't in one of her interesting stories, she tells you where to look in the book. Study sheets provided. Frequent vocabulary quizzes. Very fair professor who tries making a dull class bearable. Expected to show & participate. Take to learn; slack to fail.

This was a tough class but I stuck it out and didnt drop it. Its true you will need the book and if you do have questions she does offer help. BUT, she does give a tremendous amount of work as if this is the only class your ever going to take. Study guides were impossible and not even half of it is ever on a test. Most people won't like this class.
You have to work od hard.Test easy if you study but test are really long mostly writting 1 and 25 min aint enough. If you lazy RUN. really strict quizzes alot alot assignment 1 week b4 semester over she tosses a 5 page paper on you which involves watchin 2 history movies. This professor is completely insane. After I did my own grade tally I realize she just failed me to fail me. Horrible study guides. I would study it all and maybe 25% would be on the test. Don't take her. Waste of time and she will mess up your GPA. I went from a 3.7 to a 2.5 cause of her.

She is a tough professor who gives a lot of work. If you want a B or higher get to class 5 minutes before it starts (a late counts as half an absence), read the textbooks (def. for quizzes on the bottom of pgs) , take notes in class, READ and FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS for the papers, quizzes, and tests.

Professor Bialo-Padin wrote me an amazing recommendation letter that I submitted to my current school - The George Washington University. I still have a copy of this letter. Quick summery, this class is not hard, just requires you to do the reading (over and over). If you take her and actually do the work and try your best, you will succeed.
If you really want to get a good grade, do not take her course. Her course is extreamly difficult if you have no prior knowledges about history. many students withdrew the class during the month of november.
Honestly shes a good prof, its just shes really hard however her test are passable if you study the right material. It was my first semester at qcc and i droped it while taking the second test. For her test it has MC, a essay , and you need to identify 6 key words you read in the book. The time in the class goes by fast just i couldnt pass
ABP, fair grader and does not give easy A's. She is a hard but lovely prof and approachable if you are willing to learn and work hard! She will recognize your efforts! Her quizzes are essential and foreshadows the exams. Be well prepared and take good notes, meaning: *DO NOT MISS LECTURES!* ABP demands a lot, but for all the right reasons. CHEERS!
As said before, if you want an easy grade, do not take this class. This teacher will force you to your limits and batter you with loads of work. Although she does offer out-of-class assistance to anyone who asks, the amount of studying you'll have to do on your own is immense.

A bit of advice about this professor, if you have nothing else to do besides surrounding yourself with history, then by all means take her. However, if you're not too fond of work or the previously mentioned, then stay clear from this professor. Take any other professor except for this one. Save your GPA.

Thank you for bringing down my GPA. Three exams, three written assignments. Her lectures are not only boring, but they are useless. She will only emphasize the names and dates of events. Will try to humiliate you as much as possible. This is coming from someone who genuinely tried in her class. The textbook was more useful than she was.
if your major is liberal arts (AA) then take this class cause you deserve a challenge! however if your major is tough like a science major don't take her!! she made this class just as intense as a science class. there's no need to make history this difficult. as a science major i say look for someone else. you already have enough to study!!

So I took TWO CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR AT THE SAME TIME! I took her in the summer 2014, and her class is basically you sitting down, and hearing her lecture for 5 hours. She doesnt take excuses, you need the textbok. Attendance is a must, you need to know how to take notes, she loves what she does, hard n real college class, but I loved her!
Probably the best thing about her is that she is clear and wants you to learn as much a possiable. She gives out review questions, its exactly the same as the test. however they are all essay questions. She required tons of reading. Tbh i didnt read one single page of that book and got an A. This lady is a good professor.I didn't get the grade I was looking for but I slacked up at the end. She gives review sheets and devotes her time of four hours to go over questions, explaining in details how the questions should be answered. You must pay attention and you have to read. This is college anyway. Be prepared to focus and you'll do well.

Great lecturer! Organizes lessons thoroughly on whiteboard but pay attention to what she says also. Ask questions beforeduringafter class, makes a world of difference. She is very knowledgeable in history so asking questions makes a HUGE difference. Lectures contain key content for exams as well as the textbook. Exams are tough so you must study your brains out to earn a good grade like I did. Overall a good professor, but I only recommend this class to people who are willing to work extra hard for a good grade.

Professor Bialo-Padin is one of the greatest professors at QCC. Clear explanations, she will tell you what to expect one the exams. Her class is very demanding . Take her if your major is History but do not take her class if you're also dealing with Calculus and Chem.
Hardest class I've ever taken in my LIFE. She gives a LOT of reading. We read from ch 5-17 (like 400 pgs) & reread most of the material in prep for exams. The exams are ABSURDLY difficult. There are two & a final. First 2: study an insane amount of ID (where/when, what, why) terms & prepare 2 essay outlines. Final: 2x terms + 3 ESSAY OUTLINES!
This Prof. is no Joke she knows her stuff and expects her students to read and know it as well. She gives weekly quizzes and assigns a lot of reading!!!! The tests are Essay heavy and the Final is very hard. She is a great Prof if you work hard ask questions attend office hours and show up on time!!!

I have never done so poorly in a class. I have chosen to withdraw from her class so my GPA doesn't decrease. She claims everything is based on lecture only and she is the toughest grader. You have to calculate your grade yourself she won't post it. She is very over-the-top and is extremely strict on cellphone use and no recordings. DO NOT TAKE HER!

Professor Padin is the worse professor I have ever had in my whole entire life. I took her class in the fall, her review sheets for the tests were at least 3 pages long and her tests were so overwhelming and impossible. I thought I was doing ok in her class, she gave me an F. I emailed her 10 times, never responded. Qcc had to get involved.

I loved her as a person, for instance, when I would meet with her one on one she really seemed to care about my success, but she gives these weekly quizzes that are hardest to pass. Theyre supposedly derived from the constant 30-50 page readings she assigns, but none of the information ever seems enough pass.
Her tests are horrible!!!! shell give you a review sheet with all these term more than 50 and only puts like 15 on the test! shes such a hard grader on the exams too. its just horrible. A lot to read and quiz for the readings. good luck if you take her. be prepared.
LOTS OF READING! this is the professor for you if you LOVE to read. be sure to take notes during her lectures( lectures are confusing at times) however she allows you to ask any questions to clear up confusion. if you show that you are trying she will help you out.

Don't do this to yourself. If you take this course do not take any other classes along because this class will take all your time and attention. Speeds through lecture and you don't even feel like you're reading the same book. Better attend class and FOCUS because you'll be doomed if you don't.
Don't even in your life think about taking her. She's a terrible professor who makes read so much and along with that, she gives out quizzes and tests that have little to nothing on the review sheets. It's almost as if she wants you to fail and have problems with your G.P.A.

Very knowledgeable and passionate! her teaching style is a bit informal. There is no power points, but keep an eye on what she writes on the board. If you want to pass the class take notes and read ahead of the lessons as the test/quizes usually go past what she has covered. Do these things and you should get a decet grade, don't and fail.
Her lectures is completely different from the quizzes and exams. She would teach in a very general way with the focus on the big picture with the most important persons, their cause and effects. Then in the quiz and exams; she wants specific answers for the questions, such as specific people and their actions, and their consequence.
Lecture heavy. Assigns lots of reading. Quizzes are barely on lecture notes.
She terrible. Throws a lot at you and expects you to know everything even if you were to have her twice a week. If you want to save your sanity, I suggest you steer clear from her as she's too much.
PLEASE! DON'T- TAKE- HER. She has been one of the worst professors I ever had in my life, not even exaggerating.
If you want to get a good grade in this class or looking to get the requirement done for graduation, this is not the class for you. Focusing half the time talking about the dates/years and does not put it on the test. She is a tough grader, only using tests to determine your grade, and lots of reading thats not on the test. Please look elsewhere.
If you want to take one of her classes be prepared to not focus on anything at all through the semester but this class, because she expects everything to revolve around this class.

She is literally the worst professor at QCC. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT take her she will make you read pages on top of pages... This is an elective class yet she makes it seem like it is a Harvard Grad school course. The worst, I regret ever taking her!

Worst professor at QCC. I literally graduated and I'm still choosing to write this because of how bad she was. This is an intro class but even the classes at QC aren't as hard as this. For no reason whatsoever she chooses to go above and beyond and act like that class is some senior capstone course. Anyways, take literally anyone else.
When it comes to the reading she gives it a day or a day and a half before all the quizzes so you have to cram everything in a short amount of time. She wants what she wants and there is no wiggle room at all. There is absolutely no extra credit. She encourages you to drop the class and pay the money to drop it. Also the Lectures are extra long.
Horrible. Her lectures are interesting, but her exams are not realistic. Very rigid.
Shes a great professor for my first semester at QCC, I just chose her class because it was required and I had no idea what I was getting into and I didnt check the reviews until after the semester. You just need to read the textbook and youll do fine. I would take another one of her class if she taught upper history.
I'm coming back to this page because of how bitter I am after all these days. I'm literally heading towards grad school and it's just astounding how she's been teaching like this since 1998. Absolutely terrible attitude and the only reason she can even be teaching still is probably her tenure. For anyone taking her please avoid her at all costs.
I She seems to love to take time to take questions about that past weeks lecture and reading. Lots of reading but she will specify what part of the chapters she wants read. She moves quick in explaining but will stop to answer a question! Be prepared to learn a lot of vocab & definitions for Exams and essays (on exam)
I took this as a mandatory class and I failed the first test then I passed the next two with her help very tonight grader but if you put in the work youll pass
If you value your GPA and sanity, do not take any class with this professor. She's gotta be tenured at this point with the types of complaints she gets.
Prof. Bialo-Padin really cares about what she teaches and it's evident through her lectures. She is not one of the teachers that just makes powerpoints from the textbook. Lecture and textbook go hand in hand. Don't miss class. Although i am a Bio major, the information and critical thinking skills taught in this class were priceless.
Um she is not bad and kinda nice as long you follow her instructions and do the assignments good luck.
. She is rude, sarcastic and extremely passive aggressive. She gave random quizzes . But luckily they weren't too hard. She also makes you do confusing and hard to understand papers with not enough help. When she is asked for help she either gives a sarcastic remark or passive aggressive statement about her students intelligence.
The course does require you to do a lot of reading and take good notes when in class since every lecture goes through a lot of important material. However, she explains information during lectures in an easy way and always answers students questions. She's also available during office hours to answer any questions/look at outlines for her exams.
This class has been by far the worst class with a very limited time window. Other professors give you at least a two weeks heads up about writing assignments and she only gives you about 4 days and it has to be 6 pages. Her powerpoints are not clear and very hard to understand.
This is one of the worst professors I ever had in my life.She deducts points for everything, no matter if you respond to the question correctly. She will deduct if you do not give the exact year, name, or place in which every question happened.Exams are two essays plus identifications of terms, each term or name is at least one paragraph.

if you really care about your GPA don't take it, because in all the papers you will get a bad grade because they are not enough for her, she will tell you that the work is bad, in the homework the same thing will happen, the essays are really complicated which if they are not good she will automatically give you a 0. Worst teacher I've experienced. She doesn't film her recordings which makes the lessons harder to understand. The papers that she makes you do are horrible thanks to the little explanations that she gives and the textbook that was hard to understand. Don't take her class!
She is the hardest teacher I have ever had. When given papers she gives you limited time and you have to write at least 4 pages long for one question. She also gives you reading homework that is a lot of chapters and a lot of information you need to learn before the next class. Do not take her if you care about your grades.

Don't stress yourself taking this professor. This lady finds enjoyment in making it impossible for her students to succeed. If you do take her, good luck because you're gonna need a lot of that.
Much that other reviews have said is true. If you want a flexible professor, she's NOT that. Why? Weekly quizzes must be done in a particular 12-hr time frame; 8 minutes for 10 ?'s. 3 papers; 1, 6 pages, 2, 8 pages, & < a week to complete. This is an online class, but lectures aren't recorded. Personality-wise, not warm & fuzzy. Not bad, just true.

First of all the book was like 100 dollars. First exam she asign at least chapter 5-7 which are over 200 pages! Plus her lectures. She made the quizez ok, but the exams almost imposible. The course is suppose to be a writting intensive, but it feels like a MEMORIZING INTENSIVE. In the exam she asked for names, dates, exact events in a timed essay!
Tough grader, but the class is manageable with dedicated effort. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try tools like Unstuck study to prepare - they really helped me stay on top of the demanding workload.
I do not like this course. It is a writing-intensive course, but it feels more like a memorize-intense course. She gave the lecture like you are supposed to know things that you do not!
by far the worst professor i've ever had the displeasure of knowing. she's a laidback individual, but as a professor? i suggest not taking her if you enjoy your sanity and passing grades. too much info in lectures, egregious reading homework, no assignments, so heavily reliant on quizzes and tests—likelihood of passing said tests? SLIM TO NONE.

please stay away from this professor. she is very rude and assigns way too much work. her slides are very long and confusing and dont really help you on the tests. a quiz once a week with multiple pages and a lot of information in a little time span. the exams are even worse. my breaking point is when she made a extremely rude comment to me. She is not the most warm person and does assign a good amount of reading. This class was average in difficulty, her first exam was all memorization, however, the exams after that she allowed a handwritten index card to aid memory for the essays. If you fail with all the lifelines she provided post 1st exam, you probably didn't care enough.

This women is severely not well. She shows clear personality traits of a disturbed human bein and acts no different then i assume the devil would act. By all means stay away from this professor if you care about your mental health. I'm not even mad i failed I'm just not able to get over what an awful human bein she is.
Every day, I drove to school without a seat belt, hoping it would be the day. A disturbed professor who obviously hates her life. Makes weird comments and jokes during class (laughing at them helps). Likes her Exams to have you do 2 4-page essays, 4 identifications of people, places, and things, a paragraph each all in an hour and a half.
