He genuinely cares about each individual student's success. He takes the time to make sure that you understand the material and he pushes you to be your best. He keeps the class fun and exciting and we cover a lot of material. Team work is key in his class as we do group projects that are a big part of our grade. Patience is his biggest quality

Had a great time in both this class and in Broadcast Advertising. AJ Adelman is teaching both of them and I only have good stuff to say about him and the classes. It's actually fun going to school when you have a teacher like him. Two thumbs up! In my personal opinion he's the best one at SMC and I've studied there for a couple of years now.

Professor A.J. Adelman is the best professor I have ever had in the business department at Santa Monica College. He really goes above and beyond to make the class interesting and most of all engaging. The curriculum consisted of guest speakers, group projects,class projects, and test, plus he bring life experience because he own an Ad agency.

Amazing professor!Seriously did not care at all about advertising, just needed it for my last Broadcasting class toward my degree. BUT now I absolutely put to use everything I've learned. I'm a Meteorologist now and totally understand the concept of branding myself and my station to optimize viewership!

A.J. is what you want if you are interested in PR. He is cool and very helpful. Tests are easy and he wants you to succeed. Final projects are fun. You can be as creative as you want! No textbook, only powerpoint, which will be on e-companion after every class. Plus, he is hot!

Really awesome teacher if you are intrested in this field specifically. he isnt teaching for those student that just need unit... he teaches things that actually truelly are important and applicable in the real world. Loved the broadcast/advertising class and will be taking his other class too

JOU43 - A.J. is amazing! He is such a cool guy, and mostly does the "lecture/class discussion" style. You do have to show up, but if you do and if you participate, his class will rock. He is laid back, knowledgeable, and cares about his students. I learned a lot from him, and I 100% recommend him as a teacher.

AJ is awesome! He is an adjunct professor here at SMC as he has his own advertising agency as his day job. Show up to class, do the assignments, and pay attention and you'll pass the class. The tests aren't hard.

AJ is a great teacher, open-minded and has a fun personality. He is easy to talk to and his classes are a lot of fun and brings out the highest level of creativity in you! All you need to do is show up and pay attention and you shouldn't get lower than a B. Teaching style is lecture/screening/discussion. Major tests are only mid-term and finals.

Already having interested in the subject matter, alongside his experience and enthusiasm, I learned a great deal. If you have any interested in PR/Advertising or are simply creative and full of wonder - take the course, you won't regret it.

He's highly experienced and knows the material inside and out. He's been very helpful in understanding Public Relations and related fields, and is extremely helpful to all his students. A truly wonderful and passionate teacher, and he makes the subject fun and lively.

Powerpoint lectures, test come straight from power points, little reading, final press conference project. Gives extra credit. Fun class! Really, AJ is one of the best guys to take for any class. He's knowledgeable and comes into every course with a lot of personal experience. Super easy going, nice guy, I'd recommend him for any class.

I didn't know what to expect because it's so informal. But boy, did I learn advertising by the end. Besides for being brilliant, congenial and helpful, AJ made the class informative and FUN. It was the highlight of my week. He encourages discussion, and the final project is a genius idea on his part. You really get hands on experience.

Took his Business 29Journ 43 class this fall semester- final is in a couple days. Not a lot of assignemnts- done in class. Book is expensive but not a necessity. No projects other than the final one which is a group project- press conference. I would say its an easy AB class if you participate and turn in your work. Would recommend to a friend.

One of my favorite teachers at SMC, had a really easy time in both his advertising and PR classes, although some people who didn't seem as interested seemed to have some trouble on the tests. Just pay attention! Lectures are also posted online so you can see what you missed if you were absent! Didn't buy the textbook for both classes, no reason to.

Great Guy! Great class. This class really pulled everything together for me, as an actor, film/tv and broadcasting student. This class really showed how everything works together: advertising, commercials, auditions involving the client. Fun lectures, easy going teaching style, interesting guest speakers and the final group project was very fun.

Even If you do horrible on the test he gives a lot of extra credit you just have to do the work. initially, I only signed up for his buss 33 class but he advised me to take both and I am so happy I did! I enjoyed his class so much I had perfect attendance.. And its a 3hr class. I highly recommend him IF you want a career within advertising& PR!

Easily one of the greatest instructors I have ever had. I took his BUS 33, which is Broadcast Advertising, and it was the highlight of my semester. His teaching class is very straightforward, and as long as you pay attention in class you won't have a hard time passing his quizzes. If you are a comm/PR/advertising/marketing major, TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!

Aj is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had! Fun case studies, easy extra credit, written assignments are done in class (he'll help you with them), and only two tests. Study up a bit on power points and you'll do great on the tests! Participation is a big part of this class, but AJ makes it easy to join in. Great intro to PR!

AJ is by far my favorite professor of all time. He has so much experience and he really passes that on to his students. It's not a hard class, but you will enjoy it and you will learn! He really doesn't sugar coat what it is to be in the industry and always answers honestly and cares for his students.

I took both his Intro to Advertising and Public Relation classes before and really like it. His class will never fall you to sleep. The tests / midterms are all on the notes and book. Fair enough. You will also have a final group project to turn in. He is not a tough grader either. I don't mind of taking his class again!!

I took AJ last year for an intro to public relations class! Show up, do the work, and participate and you'll be just fine. A lot of the people in my class were extremely annoying, not that it's relevant He's a great guy and truly cares about everyone's success Did I mention he's super cute?

A.J. is a great guy and a very inspirational professor. He has plenty of experience in the PR-field and is very knowledgeable. He cares about his students and makes the class fun. Show up, participate in the discussions and pay attention during the lectures and you will be learning a lot. Class ended with a group project that was really fun.

Best professor ever, took him for 2 classes the same semester and honestly this is the best semester out of my all 7 semesters I've had. Super fun and inspiring. He has a lot of knowledge as he has been working in PR forever and includes that in his lectures so you get an in site in how it is in the working field. Sad that the semester is over :(

Some professors are ridiculously hard graders, expect too much. And want you to read too much. Not AJ, show up pay attention and you will pass

AJ is a great professor with lots of experience. I took two semesters with him and for the tests/quizzes(which are quite easy and straightforward), just review and basically/almost memorize the lecture slides. He gives extra credit and is very understanding/kind. You don't need to always be present for an A but participation is part of the grade.

I highly recommend this class. The presentations are very interesting, relevant and entertaining. I have taken both broadcast advertising and the public relations class. He's very reasonable, respectable and considerate towards every student. All of the slides are loaded online so you can just focus on the material, discussions. and projects.

If you have the chance take it!! His lectures are wonderful, I really can not think 1 thing I have not liked about taking his class. Professor Adelman record every zoom lecture to be sure every student will be able to watch during a good time. He gives fun opportunities for students gain extra credit. Just, perfect.

Professor Adelman is by far the best, most amazing Professor I had at Santa Monica College! His lectures are very interesting and hes great at explaining all the material. The exams are based on lectures. He offers lots of extra credit. Hes very accessible out of class and response to any questions you may have!

You can expect conversational lecture structure. Typically, we'd start off with a couple of relevant pieces of recent news (I was enrolled for the Public Relations course), opportunities for extra credit and group work projects. We learned about the history of advertising, marketing & public relations, what type of career opportunities there are.

AJ is one of the nicest professors I have ever have. I cam back to college after being out for 10 years and he made both classes I took with him (Media 12 & 18) super enjoyable to be in, so much so that I am taking him again in the Fall semester for my Media 1 & Bus 22 classes. if you get a chance to take one of his classes, you won't regret it.

this guy is the GOAT. taken a handful of his classes and he knows what he is talking about and is easy to talk to. his assignments are not hard and his classes are heavily conversation based. take his class if you are studying marketing or just want to learn

Professor AJ is one of those professors where you just know you're going to have a good time and get a high GPA. You don't know how great point based grading is until you've taken his class. The only thing I'd warn of is not turning your computer off after emailing him, he can and will respond within the minute, you're a real one Prof. AJ

I took his class in the winter but totally forgot to rate him. I LOVED his MEDIA1 class. I feel that his assignments were catered to the students' demographic so much. He's super accessible by email; he responds very fast. I wish I could take him again, but I'm transferring to UCLA next semester. I learned so much; DEFINITELY TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!

This class was very interesting & engaging even though it was an online class. Participation in discussions posts is VERY important! Work was due Mon/Wed/Fri included textbook quizzes, discussion posts and other related activities. You can find the textbook as a pdf online for free! Responded to emails quickly & fast grader.

Super cool and responsive professor. Responds very quickly and always seems to be in a good mood. All the homework and discussion assignments are really engaging and are genuinely fun most of the time. Highly recommend taking this class.
