Dont take her!u will end up hating bio.knows a lot, but doesnt know how to teach! Expects u to be perfect with everything and she always messes up. Tells u what to expect for a test and gives something different on it.Not helpful, gives attitudes if u need help, and doesnt care if you understand or not. Be prepared to study double if u want to pass
Aklilah Easter is a very difficult teacher. Prior to taking this classd I was very excited about BIO. I have been very discouraged by her means of teaching. She was way to fast, lecture was from her own power pints- that did not help at all. She knows her Biology but she needs more teaching ideas/skills. If you want to pass don't take her.
She was a very difficult teacher. I agree with the other comments, she has no teaching skills. She gave incorrect information during her lectures and when you questioned her about it she would get an attitude with you. If she did not like you it was reflected when she graded your papers. Avoid taking her if you can!!!!!
She lets you get EASY points! Quizzes are ONLINE, homework consists of coloring sheets and vocabulary. As long as you do your assignments you get full credit! She expects you to hand in assignments within the FIRST 5 MINUTES of class. If you are late one minute then she DOES NOT accept your work. Study and take notes, they help!
She's bearable. Downside is you need to have your book every single class. She's not good at explaining when you have a question and some of her test question are hard. She's confusing at times b/c she'll read the book and ppt word for word. You'll get an A if give extra effort into studying and do all the work.
She's very knowledgeable, but not approachable. I was afraid to speak up in class or ask questions, because she would make you feel idiotic for even asking the question in the first place. However if you're a good self learner this might be the class for you.
Her tests are really really hard. She says you need to "understand" the material but in reality you need to "memorize" every little detail in the book... she gives easy points on hmwk but given the test scores it doesnt do too much... and if you have an emergency too bad for you.
Dont get this teacher, your doomed from the start, she dont teach she just read read read power points.
She is the worst possible teacher in the history of this earth. She makes mistakes and doesnt fix or give you ur points, favoRs, rude, attitude, does not prepare you for ANYTHING, hard, not helpful, she ruined this class. Does not desserve to be a teacher, no mercy. hated this class with her. NEVER TAKE HER!!!!
I studied and did ALL my hw and showed up every single class. I did not get the grade I worked hard for. She does not curve anything. She reads word for word off the ppt and will rush through it. Her tests are really hard and very detailed.
Professor Easter has very high expectations and the class is very challenging. She prepares students for the real world where there won't be someone holding your hand. U put the effort into the class, you do we'll. if not, u don't do well. For that, I am very greatful for having her as a teacher. I actually learned the material.
have to work in the class..explains in real life terms. The key is to be prepared and keep up with all assignments to get as many points as possible
too strict, does not bend the rules at all BUT I learned a lot...she's is straight to the point
Good teacher, the class was pretty hard and heavy on lecture. I think I will be prepared for the next class- I got the grade that I thought I would
Cool teacher-hard class-glad i passed
Heard bad things about this teacher, found out they were not true. Great teacher...she takes time in and out of class to help her students. If you show effort, she helps.
Heard bad thing about her but i decided to take her anyway and she was amazing if u didn't understand something she would take time to explain it, she doesn't just read off a power point, she gives you real life examples, and if you show you care she will care
Finally done with this class, teacher is pretty hard but she does teach well. Her exams covered exactly what was lectured. If you will do the work and study, you will pass
She is a very bad teacher! She does not care about any of her students and is rude. Never take her! Tests are really hard and not what she teaches.
Professor Easter talks down to her students. She claims to be an etiquette expert but her demeanor is pretentious and rude. Her lectures are consistently boring AND she is the only professor I have had that insists on lecturing the SAME DAY after giving an exam. As if our brains aren't fried enough by her ambiguously written exams. Avoid her class.
good teacher, class requires a lot of studying, note taking, and paying attention. But she relates it to real situations to help you learn.
Worste Teacher I have had yet, She gives no study guides to help condense the material that will be on the test. She also barely gave any lab assignments to help boost your grade. The grades were based on the tests mostly. She is rude and also does not check and answer her emails often.
Mrs. Easter was not helpful , and was very rude. She would not answer emails as well as would not give a study guide with material needed condensed for what would be on the tests. You were expected to look through all chapters and study what you thought would be on them. She also did not give many lab assignments that would help your grade.
Awful. The worst "professor" Ive ever had. Do not take her, if you: 1. Want to learn, 2. Want to understand, 3. Want to recieve a good grade. She reads her power points does not make any attempts to actually teach. Cares more about how she looks or walks then actually her job. One of theWORST.
Seem to talk down to her students. lectures and power points didn't really help with exams. Have to read the book and make your own notes to understand.
Worst proffessor I've had! Her lectures are just her reading of her power points. She does not provide study guides. You never know exactly what will be on the exams. I read the book and saw youtube videos that were much more helpful than her lectures. thanks YouTube for helping me through this class! Oh & does not reply to emails, really rude!
I am now in the nursing program at my school. I have to say that Prof. Easter really prepared me for the rigors of this program. Time after time I find myself going back to the things she taught. She also tests and teaches very much at the level it takes to pass a nursing course. Even though at the time it seemed like torture, I am now grateful
Not sure why this professor received bad reviews in the past but i enjoyed her class. She is very clear with her lectures and easy to listen to, as well as helpful if you do not understand. Thought she was a little tough on making up work but what are you going to do. I would absolutely take her class again.
Says she is an proclaimed expert on etiquette but I question that title. She would call out students for doing something but do the same thing she called them out on. Very difficult to approach even though she says otherwise. I went to every class, took notes and studied, was aiming hard and studying hard for a B maybe an A and I got a C.
No offense to the professor she is very excellent, but i don't see the point of labs! OK, i'm not going to be doing the lab on the test why can't we just focus on the lecture?
I only recommend this class for anyone that can self teach themselves. Teacher is not helpful and unapproachable. She knows her stuff which is great quality for a teacher BUT lacks other aspects that make a great teacher. I have an -A with two weeks to go. Would not recommend and will not be taking further biology classes with her in the future.
Easter's real pro. Her lectures are energetic, interesting and often hilarious. If you listen and take notes, you will learn. She's is expertly knowledgeable and can answer any question. It IS a tough class but any worthwhile class is. I'm not good w/ science but Easter made it fun, interesting and doable. Highly recommended. Plus, she's smokin'
She is a great person and she is very smart, however, her class is very hard. I had to look on youtube and quizlet just to be perpared for her test and I still barely passed her class. By the grace of God I was able to get a C and be done, but she does give a lot of homework, which it helped to boost up my grade.
AKilah Easter seems like a tough teacher when you first see her but she is a pretty cool teacher. One thing I like about her is that she writes things on the board for you to take notes one which I like. Do every lab and all the homework because it counts toward your grade tremendously. There is homework but it's not much and its super easy.
I was nervous about taking this class due to the negative reviews but i'm so glad i took her. She's witty, smart,& dresses fabulous. She is VERY helpful. Yes she has powerpoints but she explains it so clearly & you dont need a study guide if you pay attention & write down her notes. She does care & has a great love for science plus she's so funny!
Definitely DO NOT recommend this course. Professor is rude and has a really bad attitude. She's supposed to be there for the students not ignore them when they have questions. Lectures are long and quizzes/exams are hard. Her "study guide" is not relevant at all to what is on the test. If you want to take a Bio class take anything but this one
Yes, her test are tough but she gives you the material you need to study and know. She makes it very clear what is expected from you from the first day of class. You are in College not in grammar school so expect to work for your grade. I would def take her again!
Tough teacher, her lectures are so-so!!
Her homework is easy. She explains in depth during labs, class work, etc. She gives us a break and after her exams. Shes really funny and makes the lecture fun! Easy as pie if you listen & take notes!! Read the chapters not even that long
You will need to work in this class. Homework is easy but her tests are the opposite. I studied hours for her exams but her questions can be confusing. She does not just do multiple choice, so you have to study hard. Also, did not like that she didn't email back. Many times, she seems/sounds annoyed when asked a question. Needs to put study guides!
If you don't pay attention in class, she'll call you out for it. Will take it as far as calling security if you become a disturbance. A tough grader, and doesn't give you slack. Her exams are very hard, if you don't study. So study. And do so about a week before. Lectures are long, and may hold labs on the same day as lecture or exam.
Professor Easter is a professor you learn to appreciate after the class is over. She explains the parameters of her class on day one. Please keep in mind that she will not spoon feed you. If you have aspirations after Wright College, this course will prepare you for higher education. Come to class on time, hungry for knowledge, and you will be okay
This professor is very fair. She tells you on the first day what you need to do to pass. She has a very clear syllabus. There is a lot of material to to remember as there is in all science classes. It is either lecture or lab so you cannot miss a class. The labs are easy and she walk you thru every one. Read a chapter ahead of lecture. Need book.
She's lecture heavy and lab heavy so never miss class. Also don't say anything disrespectful or she'll talk to you after class. Nothing remarkable about her really, if you want an A you have to want it. She won't hold your hand or hand out easy A's. I guess she's clear with information. YOU NEED THE LAB BOOK FROM DAY ONE.
If you want good grade, do not take her class. Shes a tough grader. She doesnt respond to students e-mail at all. She doesnt clearly go over with her syllabus. She wants student to respect her when she doesnt respect her students. Her lecture is boring and Im so over with her voca homework that made me feel like Im still in elementary school
Shes a good professor. She knows what she wants and makes you work to learn She is kinda scary too You need to read the chapters do the outlines, make sure should you get the book and lab manual for day one of class she really hates texting in class make time for the class youll have to work for a good grade i recommend tho
She's extremely strict and expects those to be engaged in the course. Definitely the most toughest grader I've ever come across as a student.
You cant come late, if you miss a day, you miss a whole chapter of lecture notes , quizzes or done the first 15mins of class n if you miss it theres no make up, homework is usually do at the beginning of class n if not once she collects them your assignment is considered late.
To make matters short, she knows what she's talking about when it comes to biology and she teaches decently, but, man, she's a pain in my ass! I'm not kidding when I tell you, if she doesn't like you, she'll make your life a living hell! if so you happened to take her class, make sure you read and do all her work. Seriously, don't slack off!
She was a rude teacher felt uncomfortable asking questions, strict. My recommendation if you seriously need a Bio. class choose a different professor. Coming from a person that loves science and enjoys the subject found it really difficult to be in a position were my own personal like were challenged by a professor who was rude and mean to students
She goes fast, so pay attention. As far as teaching goes, she knows what shes talking about and does a good job explaining. If you miss a day you'll either lose lab points or important lecture notes. She'll make funny sarcastic comments sometimes. She can be rude and demeaning if you don't understand. HAVE THE TEXT AND LAB BOOKS ON THE FIRST DAY!!!
You will need the textbook and lab book. Make sure to not take out phone in class because she will take away points. Pay attention to the lectures and be sure to come to every class or you will miss the material and lose points. Homework is super easy.
If you are going for nursing school take her class. You will learn in her class attitudes needed for nursing such as been on time, been organized, and learn to complete your lectures. Very strict and excellent instructor; she knows her material and explains the topics very clear. I really enjoyed her jeopardy games for extra credit.
She is tough
Lots of in class work
She was very strict. She should be more flexible as we have so much going on in our lives. II did like how she made work relatable, I understand some things better. She is tough, but you learn.
This is honestly the only bio class I've retained a lot of information from, it is lecture heavy but she really knows what she's talking about. COME TO CLASS! If you miss one class, you miss a whole chapter. The assignments really help with preparing for exams. Her requirements for the class are reasonable.
Easter is angry and mean. Comes to class with an attitude every day and seems like she hates being there and being bothered. Went to her office once, even worse. Needs to find another job if she hates students so much.
She is tough but this is the most I have learned about biology. I finally saw her method of teaching and it helped me learn more content.
Her personality is not the best because she is too rigid. But she tells the class that it will be hard and that she is strict. I learned a lot and she helped a lot more during office hours. She gave me study tips and studied with me.
She was nice in the beginning but she changed. Some students were rude which I think she took personally, she shouldn't let those things bother her. She was organized, but very stern
Glad I passed!
She si very strict but I actually learned stuff
Very straight forward. No emotions at all, it is difficult to approach her. She gave some good day to day connections
She's the worst always having an attitude for no reason. Very very rude, she expects her students to respect her when she doesn't give that respect back. Not willing to help her students at all despite what she claims. Doesn't look you in the eye when speaking to her, and IF she does she looks at you with clear annoyance for no reason. DON'T take!
If getting annoyed at students for asking questions and going through a chapter every day was an Olympic sport, shed have as many gold medals as Michael Phelps! Seriously do not take! Goes through a chapter EVERY CLASS PERIOD, NO KIDDING! Expects you to grasp the material all by your own and gives way to much stuff to finish in her class period!
Its a teach yourself class. She looks annoyed all the time, and refuses to look at students when they ask question. Very strict, does make funny comments sometimes but I hope you have a lot of free time to teach yourself during this class.
She knows how to teach but she is always having a mean look that makes you be afraid to even ask questions or to go get help during her office hours. She goes through the chapters pretty quick and a lot of information to remember. Its really hard to pass the class but her lectures aren't boring because she knows what she is talking about.
Prof. Easter is a good teacher. She knows what she is talking about, and explains it pretty well. However, The speed that this tough subject is taught is rough. If you miss a day, you miss most of a whole chapter. She does not provide make up work. If you're the type to learn from note taking/ dictation, take this class if you need too.
The professor is very lecture heavy and difficult to approach. Everything in the lectures is grabbed off the book so don't bother ask the professor a question because she won't look at you or even answer the question. Even if this professor is your last choice for biology, you are better off changing your major.
She pays no mind to any student and does not want to answer any questions a student may have. Very lazy & self centered for a college professor. I tried on numerous occasions to break through her mean attitude but eventually gave up and focused on the class rather than her terrible people skills. Wish I wouldve read these other reviews myself.
She is amazing, she will teach you everything you need know. Study, read and go to class.
Easter is kind, intelligent, stern, and funny sometimes. I think people misread her "bad attitude" for her matter-of-fact thought process. She gives a lot of heads up of how to pass the class and tries to be very clear when explaining concepts. She can get lost in explaining things and might accidentally forget you had your hand raised.
The class was supposed to be out of 1500 points but with COVID19 and remote learning taking over, the class is now out of about 1000 points. Getting any kind of definite answer from her is like pulling teeth. Instead of helping students during this hard time and evening out the point scale for us, she has only made it harder to pass.
With COVID19 changing the direction of the course, Akilah Easter changed her course syllabus(which she reserves the right to do). However she did not change the course to make things easier on her students during a worldwide pandemic. She made the class harder by giving less opportunities to earn credit to change your grade. No compassion from her.
Do NOT take ANY of her summer 2020 online course! Teaching is just not her forte. I WISH, I would've read the other rate my professors ratings on Ms. Easter! Every low rating describes her perfectly and every high rating seems like it was written by the professor herself.
Prof. Easters reviews are accurate in the sense that she is strict and to the point. Amazing at teaching, as long as you put in the work and care about your grade she will like you. If you study and pay attention to her lectures you will get a good grade. Also, don't piss her off by coming late or using your phone. Really simple rules to follow.
She made the transition easy to online. She gave us time to make up missed work and responded to email immediately. She expects you to work and took the time to explain the steps as much as possible.
She was one of my favorite teachers. I saw other comments, she was super helpful when we moved online and gave us extra points at the end and let us makeup work. I hate science but she made the class fun .
During online class she emailed me 2 times because I overslept and almost missed an online exam. She said that she saw I did not log in to the exam yet. She shows that she cares for her students during the craziness that happened this semester.
She is tough but she is excited about the class. she likes the human body and tries to get the class to like it.
She made the class easier when we went online. I was stressed out but she made sure we had the stuff we needed. I like her class even though she was pretty strict with her rules.
She has some real anger issues and a bit of an attitude. Short fuse and little patience. Such a shame someone like this is teaching because she shows no interest in her students.
There is no guesswork in this class and all the instructions are very clear. She is so passionate and incredibly knowledgeable. Do not listen to the negative reviews those people just didnt come to class and they didnt do their homework. If you do all the assignments and pay attention in class you will thrive in this class and you will learn.
She terrible I do not appreciate her teaching at all especailly during the pandemic. she make it harder. Zoom lectures she only send the link only for student emai not brightspace even you tell her to put the zoom link on brightspace she refuse. Also she will not let you retake any assiggments nor tests she will allow u retake one missing assigment
I had Prof. Easter a few semesters back. I thought she was a good teacher. She did give out a lot of information during class times and lectures. Missing a quiz, test, or lab meant you are doomed. But as long as you showed up to class and wrote down the notes that she would provide, you were set to succeed. I give her credit for her style of teach
Study guides were useless and were seemed to be made overly confusing and not correlating with the actual exams almost like she wanted you to fail. She is just a very strict and passionate professor and it feels like she's trying to almost push that passion of biology onto you. Great human being though, just not my top pick for professor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Worst experience at Wilbur Wright I have had so far, my main complaint about her would be that she cramped this 8-week course onto her student. This professor would only teach 9-9:50 when our class time 8:30-10:50 course. Chapter 4 exam was on the 27th and our final on the 29th. She could care less for her students.
Attempted to cram 13 chapters in an 8 week class. Missing one day missing an entire chapter. She has little patience and lots of attitude. Behind on grading so you can't average out your grade if you were ever curious. Short lectures, original time is 8:30-10:50 but she made it 9-10 on average. Study guides had nothing to do w/ the exams.
