Great lectures, interesting, enthusiastic, hard tests
Great professor, easy tests, fair grader
very nice, extra credit, no papers
Very funny, pretty easy exams
Amusing teaching, pretty easy exams, easy B
Only three tests which arent too bad. A great teacher who is funny/intelligent.
Keeps you interested, gives you essay topic for exam, study and you are fine
funny; hard if u hate history; i got a c n tried hard
Tends to lecture a lot, tests are mostly ID's and essay, few tests
Best prof ever!!!! SO So funny has great stories!!!
hes really funny but gives tons of notes every class, exam covers too much info
Great prefessor, but the tests are hard.
nice but hard tests
This class is fun. A lot of notes, but he is cool & keeps it interesting
funny guy. boring class, makes it bearable. tests hard-only 2
Didn't do anything all semster and still managed to get a C+, funny guy
Alot of reading but his classes are interesting, so its worth it.
i would take him again if i could. he loves what he is doing. makes history so interesting. he's probably one of my all time favorite professors! We need more teachers like him!if you're going to take him, be prepared 4 the work. he's all worth it! A+++++
Very good... funny guy too. Has time for questions and will help after class. Go to class and read a little and you can get an easy B. doesnt take attendance but still GO to class, he notices.
His lectures are great. He is a funny guy. No mid term or final just a big paper, but it's not that bad. I recommend taking him.
i hate history but he made it fun. AWESOME TEACHER. take him NOW!!!
Great teacher, knows his stuff and makes it fun. A lot of reading. Funniest teacher I have had. Take his class!
funniest guy ever!
Absolutely hilarious. Goes crazy sometimes and you don't wanna miss it. Take his class just to laugh your ass off!
He is a great techer lecture are easy to follow. All tests are essays and he grades them hard. A lot of outside reading that you have to keep up with. If you dont like to read don't take this class.
a funny guy, a fun class, not boring at all, very enjoyable, there is alot of reading outside the class, just do it, and no problems. great teacher
OK i dont know what people are talking about when they say interesting because that is just a flat out lie. You never have to go to class and if u do good luck staying awake. Tests are easy midterm, final, 2 books. Just teach yourself out of the text book
Oh man, i love this man. i know hes not really that good lookin, but he was soo funny that i had to say he was hott. i loved his class, it wasnt too hard as long as you keep up with the reading outside of class. take him, i LOVED him!
He knows what he is talking about. funniest professor I ever had. Definately take his class!!
Take him if you love lots of reading and learning too much info. Be ready to write fast b/c he overloads the info and then makes you guess what will be on the tests. Not too helpful and expects you to know too much when its only a gen ed.
I hated this teacher. Thought he was funny, but wasn't. Taked about things irrelivant to the class. TRY AND AVOID HIM!!!
Aweful teacher. He says things in class that aren't true becuase he doesn't know the subject matter. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!!
very good teacher-he knows his stuff! lots of notes, but show up to class and you'll do fine. 3 or 4 books to read plus chapters in text book, but not nearly as bad as it sounds. awesome at giving examples that are relavant to your life so you understand
Awesome teacher. I took him for native american history, which was a great class to take. I learned so much from him and he made class fun. Only 3 papers and two tests- and he gives you the essay questions ahead of time. I definitely recommend taking him
This guy is tough. He assigns ridiculous amounts of reading and the tests are all essay questions. He grades everything very very hard. You also have a 15 minute presentation. Don't take!
Funniest class ever, always interesting and fun. Takes breaks for comic relief and really knows his material. He knows what he is talking about and make someone who hates history want to learn it.he does have difficult exams but gives the essay ?'s b4
Best history class I've ever taken! There was a lot of info crammed on only few exams- but if you do the reading and show up to class you can handle it. You'll probably want to go to his class anyway. Funny guy, very smart- I definately reccomend him.
He is very intelligent. He makes jokes throughout his lectures. Give very interesting lectures, clear and easy to comprehend. I would take him again for another history class. I recommend him highly.
Very good professor. Lectures turn directly into perfectly organized notes. I recommend this professor. All reading is assigned in the sylibus. Gave class some questions to exams before the exam. Overall, Amazing experience.
HARD TESTS-4 chapt. from big bk., ea.chap. has 7 or 8 essay questions.(approx. 28 )He picks 4,you need to answer all 28 to know what he'll pick. 5 chapt. from small book. He picks 3. Plus 5 questions on keywords from notes. VERY GOOD TEACHER-HARD TESTS,have to memorize 50+ essays.NOT FOR THE WEAK!
Great Professor! Funny guy, class was very interesting. Very nice. Lots of reading and studying, tests are really hard. Tests based on 5 chapters, a book and class notes. Grades based on only three exams. I would take him again but do not take if you can't put in the study time. Its work to get a C.
Great Lecturer, but really hard tests. You have to study a whole lot and memorize dates, places etc. Don't take unless you plan to work hard, I just took it as a gen. ed definitly wished I would have chosen a different class. Funny guy though
he is an awesome guy. very funny and keeps u interested in what hes lecturing about. however his exams are extremly hard. u have to kno so much info its redic. and hes a hard grader so u need to know specifics. if u prepare in advance u will have no problem doing well in his class.
he is VERY FUNNY. it is easy to stay awake in his class and easy to attend ona regular basis. it is not easy to get an A. i studied hard and read every word of every chapter assigned and could not get above a B on the tests. He is a very hard grader, but a great teacher and person.
Lecture was so boring, he talked to whole time. The tests were review questions from the book, but they're all essays. He is a picky grader and he doesn't help you at all.
He's really a great teacher. Pretty funny at times. The class is really hard if you don't do what ya gotta do. Read everything, and be very prepared!
Funny guy who tries to make the lectures as interesting as they can possibly be. Tests are long, but he seems to curve at the end of the semester. I got low B's on every test and ended up with an A-, so most people seemed to get a higher grade than they thought.
Boring lectures, but it is history. He is funny, for a teacher :) Exams are all essay and are from the book. Tough grading but fair and I did ok on it.
Great lectures, he keeps class exciting. A lot of information though. Tests aren't easy "A's" but if you study it isn't that bad. Essay tests.
Really funny nice guy. Makes class interesting. Tough grader tho.
I love this man!! He looks like jesus and Col. Sanders mixed! LOL I hate history and he made it interesting for me. You def need to read and pay attention in class but you won't mind with all the jokes he cracks and all the examples he gives! Yeah Akim!!
He is very knowledgeable about the subject, and his lectures are interesting and entertaining. Very funny. There is a lot of reading in the course. He only grades based on 4 things: midterm, final, paper, participation. His tests are difficult. The class is much more advanced than a normal gen ed.
I took him last semester and I did okay. Be prepared for a tough class. A ton of VERY BORING reading. Essay tests arent bad though. He isnt always very clear on what he wants with tests and essays. Not the most helpful person. I do not reccomend it if you arent good with history.
Toughest grader in the world. If you take him, expect to earn your A. Funny, weird and doesn't make you regret showing up for class. Lots of readings, but good ones.
It's impossible to get an A... way too much is required for this class for a 100 level class. Teacher is funny, but if you are looking for an easy A, sign up for another gen ed.
Professor was aweful. he was boring and graded very hard. He is no help to you. AVOID HIM!!!
He actually makes lectures entertaining and gave us lots of laughs. His exams, quizzes, and grading are another story though. Ex1: On the midterm, the As and Bs combined totaled less than 20 for a class of about 80. Ex2: You have to write 10 essays for the final and the questions come from a possible 46 that you had to read/prepare for.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOUR NOT GOOD WITH HISTORY
I'm not very good at history and don't like it 2 much but he makes the class interesting. The grading, however, is very difficult. I felt very prepared for the tests/quizzes and i still only got a B+ in the class. If u have 2 take this class I do recommend him b/c he is entertaining. If u don't have to take this class... DONT TAKE IT unless u have 2
He doesn't hand out A's BUT his requirements are clear, his lectures cohesive, logical, and damn funny. His tangents are entertaining as hell. No, his classes aren't easy like high school classes (because it COLLEGE people!!), but he doesn't kill you either. I don't know why he's getting so much crap. He (and his tie collection) were great!!
The class is fairly comprehensive and you can choose your own topic for research, which is nice. The grade is almost entirely based one one long research paper. Reinhardt is somewhat amusing at times, but clearly thinks he is funnier than he is - also often seems a little arrogant. I think he's a total babe though, reason enough to go to class.
Funny guy and very knowledgeable; however, can at times try too hard to be "hip" and can get alittle annoying...DO NOT mistake his carefree nonchalant attitude for him being an easy gader, tests are challenging and he is a tough grader...Reading is a MUST, and believe me people, theres alot of them...
I would say that he's got a really good personality and makes funny jokes sometimes but when it comes to the actual class his lectures are kind of boring and not really organized. Be sure to ask a lot of questions. However, if you are having trouble in the class, he's always available to help
If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you. He's really entertaining and cynical, and a pretty good lecturer. He knows what he's talking about and he's always willing to help anyone who needs it. There were only 3 grades, all tests, and he graded them pretty hard. If you do the reading and pay attention, you should be good.
HILARIOUS. Very dry, sarcastic sense of humor. He can relate alot of discussions to everyday life and has a lot of fun with his lessons. But be warned his tests are DIFFICULT. Do not skimp out on studying, reading the same chapters twice is a must for these tests. He's very helpful if you have any questions though. Great teacher overall.
Very funny professor. Pop essay quizes all through out the semester on bolded words in chapter. So make sure you read!!! Essay exams galore!!!I did horrible in this class!!! Then again I'm not a big history fan tho. Good Luck
He does add humor to his lectures but his tests are pretty hard if it is for HIST 145. His tests are straight from the text books, a lot of chapters. So if you don't like reading out of a textbook don't take this class. I managed to get a B but I had to work extremely hard. The lectures can be long sometimes boring on the content.
A little arrogant, a little gimmicky - otherwise effective.
Very funny professor. Tried his hardest to make his lectures interesting. There is A LOT of reading for this course, so if you can't commit don't take it. Overall, he is a great professor and I enjoyed the course.
An ok teacher, I had him for a lecture so I can see him being better in a small class. There is a lot of reading for him and its pretty important which is annoying because its boring. He did try and keep things interesting but i couldnt help falling asleep a couple times. I had to miss a test and he was accommodating so that was cool.
Class itself is hard. He is very funny though but if you are not into history-you will fall asleep at least 4 times in the semester. Just saying. Read the textbooks, be a good essay writer, and know the facts-youll do fine.
Funny guy. I'd take him again if for no other reason, he keeps things interesting. Makes jokes, drops some f bombs, and keeps the class from falling asleep. He's a bit of a hardass on grading the tests, but just write what he wants and you'll do fine. only 3 tests.
I took Dr. Reinhardt for 3 very different courses - HIST 300, an Hnrs Seminar on Nat. Ameri. and an UL Nat. Amer. course. He is by far one of the best professors I had during the entirety of my four years at Towson. If you are at all interested in History don't miss out on one of his classes. Hes funny, dresses well, and will benefit your exp. here
A lot of information. You will end up reading the textbook cover to cover. Lectures keep you interested the entire time. Test will be changing (he tried a new format that didnt work this time). 1 quiz, 1 oral exam, 2 exams (not cumulative). Be prepared to put in the work or you will not do well.
1 mini quiz, an oral, a mid term and final. He's pretty funny and interesting and his oral is easy. The only problem is the final which had 1 essay question from 10 chapters. 1 of 3 from a book. and 1 of 4 for lecture notes. there's so much information you'll have to remember but it's possible to do well if you do put in effort to prepare. Take it.
I took this class thinking history would be easy. WRONG!Intersting class. The prof is entertaining during class. But only 4 grades. It was hard still I did pass/fail for this class. Lots of essays.
Tough grader, but great class. Willing to work with you on tests (we came up with our own final questions today) but expects a lot when he helps a lot.
I'm a history major & took Native American History with Reinhardt. His class is challenging, but lectures get you involved and thinking, and are quite interesting. If you like history, or Native Americans, I'd really suggest his class because he's very passionate about the subject.
This was my favorite class this semester. His tests are challengingbut if you pay attention & study, you'll do well. There are three tests that make up your grade (midterm, final, & 1 verbal test). He makes lectures engaging & is so funny. Love this teacher.
Top notch professor that helps you think and read critically about the subject. He's incredibly intelligent and brings modern humor into his lectures to make it easily relateable to the students.
I personally thought he was a terrible professor. He did not give us power point notes or anything, he just talked the whole hour and fifteen minutes. He makes you memorize 30 essay questions for the final and only asks 6 of them, which I think is beyond ridiculous. I suggest another professor rather than him.
I was not at all interested in the history of the West prior to the class but Prof Reinhardt really made the class interesting. Although the syllabus was completely wrong with the assignments, the class was challenging yet manageable. I would definitely recommend. Doesn't take attendance, 3 tests in the beginning, take home final, quiz every wk
he taught this class a new way this year, so he figured it out as he went... one midterm and a final, quizzes open note off lectures, no textbook just 7 books you have to read for the 2 tests, read and take notes on the books and youll do fine. if you need help or are struggling, go to him and he'll work with with you until you understand!
This class is difficult, attendance isn't mandatory but he gives surprise lecture quizzes every once in a while and if you are absent you receive a zero. You will learn a lot, way more than you ever wanted to. But it is all very fascinating. He's really funny, drops the f bomb and keeps class interesting. Overall a great professor but a hard grader
Hard class but a great teacher. History is never an easy class but he does a great job teaching it
This class isn't terrible but he is a pretty tough grader. The lecture quizzes are open note but it is rare to receive full points on them. He always finds errors or reasons to deduct points here and there. I think I missed one lecture but ended up getting a C+ in the class.
He was not a good professor. He was hilarious and told funny stories, but when it came to teaching us and providing assessments, he was awful. He did not respect students, and kicked students out of class for checking their phone in class.
He assigns a set of books to read and then gives you one question from each book for your midterm and final. Sounds easy but I had no clue what he was looking for. He's funny and gives interesting lectures but they're only good for his quizzes. You're kind of on your own for your midterm and final. Also doesnt use Blackboard which is frustrating.
If you don't like reading even a little bit this is most definitely not for you. You also have to teach yourself everything. Lectures are only used for quizzes but are completely irrelevant when it comes to the midterm and final.
Dr. Reinhardt is hilarious and his lectures are very entertaining. On the other hand, his quizzes are damn near impossible to get a good grade on. They are open ended and its so hard to see what he's looking for. Also you have to read like 7 full length books for the midterm, oral, and final. They're not long but it's history.. not that interesting
For someone who doesn't like history, I loved this class. He makes lectures interesting and is really funny. He gives quizzes purely based on the in class lectures and all exams are based on books you read outside of class. Attendance is not required which is an extra bonus, but I don't recommend missing too many classes.
Great professor! He's very passionate about the subject and interesting and makes you want to listen. He also has a really good sense of humor and cracks jokes a lot. You read a lot for this class, I think we had to read 4 books just for the final, but if you have questions, he's very helpful. The quizzes are open note w/ easy criteria. Take him!!
Professor Reinhardt makes you read a total of 7 books over the course of the semester. Therefore, if you do not like reading, I do not suggest you take him. Each day he lectures, and throughout the course he gives about 6 quizzes. Quizzes consist of formulating a thesis and three pieces of evidence based upon his lectures.
Challenging class but worth it. Exams are based off of books read outside of class and the quizzes are based off of the lectures (which are very entertaining.) I learned so much and although the class was frustrating at some times, he was very helpful at office hours if I had questions on the books or needed help improving my quiz scores.
Great professor but he makes it clear that he's here to teach, not to make friends. He is a funny guy with dry humor and is very straight forward. HIs class is lecture based with quizzes on the lectures. He has several exams throughout the semester based on the books he assigns us to read. Easy class, but you CANNOT pass without reading the books.
Prof. Reinhardt was a really funny guy who gave really good and passionate lectures. He makes it a point that he won't go out of his way to help you, and if you want help you need to come to him. There is so much reading for the exams, and it's really stressful. If you don't like to read textbooks, this class isn't for you.
Prof. Reinhardt's class was so interesting and fun. He moves very quickly through the lectures and gives maybe 6 quizzes for the lectures. The exams aren't too difficult as long as you have read the books (and there are a lot of them). One of them is an oral exam which was a little stressful. I looked forward to this class every week!
He is a good lecturer but an atrocious grader. I've taken 12 history classes at Towson ranging from 100 level to 400 level and his History 146 class was far and away the most difficult class. His essay grading was almost nonsensical. Please avoid this professor
Reinhart is what you think of when you think of a history professor. He is incredibly passionate about US history and wants students to at least have a basic understanding. He gives out pop quizzes every other lecture so make sure you go to class. All tests were based on books you read outside of class, and one oral test. I would take him again
Word of advice: make sure you do the assigned readings AND participate. Reinhardt does not take attendance, however, you need to take good notes and contribute to discussions in order to do well. You need to make an effort to show you are trying and he will take that into consideration. Also, he does not use Blackboard.
Reinhardt was a great Professor, his Hist146 class is very straight forward. He only has lectures and gives out 4 quizzes (50pts) each, a midterm and final as 100 pts each. Some of the Lectures can get boring but his humor always seems to make the class go by a little faster. Make sure to understand what he is looking for in his grading! & no EC
Easy-going and very knowledgable, no tolerance for any tech use- he still has a flip phone and won't use blackboard at all. It's all lectures and out of class reading, but not anything super complicated. Classes are interesting and the essay exams are pretty straight forward.
Gave about 5 days to buy and read a book for first exam week 1. Quiz once a week in thesis-supporting args format. Required to read 2 books for exam 2. Lecture heavy, no power points available online so if you miss a class and come back you could be taking a quiz on the lecture you missed.
no powerpoints, scattered presentation of information. pop quizzes on the lectures that are thesis style so if you miss a class you may fail a quiz. every body is lying about the lectures being interesting or him being funny they arent and hes not. will kick you out for using electronics. must read a whole book per exam and memorize everything
You can tell professor Reinhardt is passionate about history, but the way he teaches can be very challenging. He does not use powerpoints, you have to pay attention to detail in lectures, and he is very particular when he grades quizzes and tests. If you work extremely hard, you will be fine. Since I am not big lover of history, this class was hard
One fo the most boneheaded professors on campus. All over the place, doesnt have consistent grading from paper to paper. Quite creepy and rude towards people. Interacts very little with the class. Teaches by a lecture every single time but the lecture is obnoxious to follow. Theres better options out there
I have no idea where to start with this guy. Rude, condescending, bizarre. Has you read 4 whole books for papers, no clear instructions on what the papers should be about, unclear grading, no critiques on how to improve. No extra credit. Bomb one assignment and you're done. It's a real shame he's the only one who teaches this subject.
If you can avoid this class, please do. I'm literally begging you to not even come in contact with this man and his class. I've had a mental breakdown because of this class. the toughest professor I've ever had and I don't even understand why. His class should not be as hard as it is but for some reason, it is. This man does not care ab his student
For the whole semester, students had to write weekly 350-word papers about the lectures and readings. Seems easy? no. The papers had no topic question, students had to create their own. Students have to include all sources and STAY UNDER 350 words.. No specific rubric. I was close to an A but no prof does not like his students getting A.
This class is easy and interesting. The professor has lectures that are engaging and will likely keep your attention. The professor is also funny and has a personality. Some critiques are: he does not like giving A's on papers, sometimes his technology fails.
No electronics, will kick you out. Doesn't use blackboard. No PowerPoints - will right few important things on the board but you write down things he says. Open note lecture quizzes every class. 4 exams on 4 books, rent the first one from UStore since not a lot of time to buy one. Passionate about history, very funny. I loved him and learned a lot.
Dr. Reinhardt's class was extremely interesting. The lectures were very clear and by the end of the class, there would be a small quiz based on the lecture. We had four exams and each one was based on a very short book. Dr. Reinhardt is always available by phone or email and responds very quickly. An amazing professor.
Excellent professor friendly and funny. Gives amazing well-prepared lectures. There will be a lot of grades which makes it easy to get a good grade. Exams are easy because they are related to the documents we had to read. He gives part of the questions that we had to answer and it made it much easier to look for answers in the documents.
Great lectures, really informative and interesting! He's really attentive and personable during classes. Lots of reading, I wish we could've slowed down sometimes with less sources. Really cool subject, and I'm glad I took the class.
One of my favorite professors. Truly knows a lot about history and makes the class enjoyable. Short assignments due almost every week, but they don't take very long. Additionally, he tries to be very helpful with the big paper requirement for HIST300 and has a lot of writing tips. Cons: Very old-fashioned. Does not use blackboard
He talks a lot but is very engaging and writes notes as he goes. A lot of writing by hand but you can use your notes on tests and he gives good feedback on them. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you need notes from his lectures for the tests so I don't recommend you miss them
Every exam and quiz is open note so it's really easy to pass as long as you take good notes. He's old school so no electronics of any kind during lecture, pen and paper only. Only had to buy one book and the rest was provided on blackboard. All the quizzes are writing a thesis and the exams are writing essays. I enjoyed his lectures, he is funny.
Professor Reinhardt's lectures are engaging and insightful, though the class can be challenging. The exams are based on assigned readings, so staying on top of the material is key. I found the Unstuck study app helpful for organizing my notes and studying effectively.
had a quiz every class based on readings and lectures for the first half of the semester which sucked sometimes, he was very funny which made up for it. do the readings and you'll be ok. pay attention and take notes and be friends with ppl around you so you can silently help each other during quizzes
The first have of the semester there is a quiz (writing thesis's) every class so you can't skip them. The second half is lectures and then 3 exams. The exams are based off of these lectures and you have to write essays on them so again, you can't really miss them unless you get notes from someone. He's funny and class was fun.
Lectures are long but he's pretty engaging. Even though attendance isn't required you have to show up for quizzes and if you don't attend lectures you won't know anything. Read the textbook and take good notes since quizzes are open notes. Professor Reinhardt was very nice about giving me an exam extension when I had a family emergency.
