He seems like a great guy, but needs to understand that if he can't remember computer commands neither can we, and so he shouldn't test them.
CIS 1200 is a heavy workload but easy... pretty good prof though... Could be more approachable

I think Dyer is the perfect prof for first year students who haven't yet realized that profs aren't going to baby them like teachers did in highschool. No, he doesn't care about you, and he doesn't have to. Easy course, funny, quirky prof.

Alright class - he's kinda funny - labs really helped me to learn a lot. Testing was brutal - all about memorizing toolbars that just pop up on your computer - useless!!!

So boring! I can't handle sitting through the 50 minute lectures, I fall asleep multiple times.
TERRIBLE! His lectures are worthless. His hair is ugly too.
He was the worst professor I ever had at any point in my life. We tried to get him fired but there was a long story about him being banished from the math department and forced on comp sci. Just thinking about his courses makes me break into a cold sweat.
So, you get a lowest grade on an assignment of 92, and a highest of 118 (he likes to give bonus marks for assignments), then you get into the exam. Its ridicculus the junk he'll ask you to recall! Oh, and dropping a computer=BAD IDEAD, not a good one

This guy loves his "aights" and "mmk's" during lectures. Easy class though and the T.A's will give you whatever score you ask them for, on the assignments.

And "down in here" we have the dumbest professor at Guelph....why does a computers prof need to call in tech support once a week?? always late and tests you on the dumbest material in the whole course...don't take this course unless u have to!!

Not much point in going to lectures (unless you're set on answering the one or two obscure lecture reference questions on his exams).Assignments are easy marks, and he boosted everyone's midterm marks so the class average was where he wanted it. Go to the labs and do the assinments & you'll be fine.
I think I spent a total of 8 minutes in class before he had annoyed me enough I never went back. I tried going to his office hours to no avail. Midterm and final were needlessly hard for this course level. It was made up for with a generous bell curve.
OKAY! I didn't go lectures a few weeks into the semester having just found out that they were useless and a waste of time. Lecture material is on WebCT...word for word. Go to labs and do the assignments and you'll be fine. Share/buy a textbook with a friend. Overall easy class.
Do not take this class if Dyer is teaching it!! He screws up all the time. Is not nice to talk to, infact a little scary. Put him back into retirement please. He cant teach worth s***!

annoying teacher who looks like a biker and rants more than george carlin. his exam would be easier if it wasnt PURE java script based. dont buy the text, its useless unless you wanna learn how to change the font size in microsoft word. assignments are easy marks cause the TA's who mark them are generally lenient. ok, ok, alright, alright, ok, ok
A bit of a nut, but pretty generous when it comes to bonus marks - if you take advantage of them the course is a great GPA booster. Lectures aren't worth it, but he grades you on class participation so i'd go. Everything in the course is super easy until you hit JavaScript, where if you don't understand you're doomed.
Easy course because of the bonus marks. Midterms were too long but easy!!! Watch out for exams cuz if u dont know java script u wont pass the exam

Nice guy, terrible teacher. He means well but most of the "complicated" stuff he cant do himself routinely. Midterm (at leas this semester) was bunk, class avg. is failing. Marking is way off, following his constant example of "cut and paste" method i got half marks...probably great counsellor, nice guy...but shouldnt be teaching the class.
AWESOME PROF. Hard to follow at times...but he isn't teaching anything really hard, so easy to go learn it at home as well if you are confused. Gave WAY TOO MANY bonus marks...I ended up with a final mark of over 105% in his class. Pay attention, and do all practice problems and get all bonus marks and you can easily get high 90's, or 100%.
Basically. Down in here, you get down in here. Not that he isn't a little bit off the wall but atleast he gives you the opportunity to do well if you want to. And it's pretty comical to listen to the way he speaks.

Ok down in here, we have this completely useless prof down in here, alright, and over in here we have completely useless rambling lectures and contextually inconsequential interjections associated with that. Seriously, my friend and I made a tally of how many times he said down in here in one lecture, and it ended up being over 100 (we lost count)

Content was very easy. He knows his stuff but makes it feel like he doesn't because of his lecture and teaching style... East for good grades because content is very easy
So, down in here, we have a pretty hilarious prof who is great for laughs. His lectures are kinda boring but he has an addictive laugh, and the class is super easy!
Had him as a football coach years ago when I was like 13.. Loved the guy. Complete nut when coaching.
