What an awesome professor! His classes can be boring and a bit cheesy at times, but overall you will have fun. He does not like tests, so he integrates practicality into his teaching. We had to do a total of 5 speeches. The E.L. logs are a pain (one due every week). Make sure to take the class with friends so its not so boring.

Professor Al Fuertes's classes have given me a different perspective on life. His lectures are engaging and insightful. Instead of sitting behind a desk during class, you get to participate in group activities and class facilitations. Not sure why there are any negative reviews. Trust me; he is by far one of the best professors at Mason. Take him.

Lots of work and group assignments. His expectation around attendance is unrealistic. Takes things personally and has yelled at us before. Do not recommend.

This professor is amazing!! His passion for the subjects he teaches is unlike other professors I have had. I have taken multiple classes and want to take more every time. He is such an understanding and kind professor and really cares about your understanding and what you get out of the class. Cannot say enough good things about this professor!!!

Professor Fuertes is one of the most caring professor's I've met. He's willing to work with you if you can't turn something in on time and gives extensions on assignments if you email him. Attendance is mandatory and participation is a major part of your grade. He makes the speech assignments very easy and gives great feedback on what to improve on

Great professor, class was highly focused on engagement and group activities. Some papers, but felt manageable. I did all the readings from the syllabus, but we did not have time to get to most of them because the class activities took up the bulk of the time. Would take another class with Al, his enthusiasm and knowledge in the field is incredible

This course had too many group projects, making coordination difficult, especially with large groups and busy schedules. The final project lacked clear guidance, and the required trip to Ten Thousand Villages was inconvenient. Prof barely taught, entire class was taught by the students in hour and 15 min slots.

Professor Fuertes was so passionate on the displacement topic because he has worked with them. Participation and attendance does matter because it's a big part of your grade. Readings have to be done before class and there are weekly summaries that are supposed to be 2 pages. There was only two essays that needed to be done for this 1 month course.

This's my second time taking Professor Al and he is amazing. A lot of experimental learning in this course like hours at a immigration forum, traveling to the Ten Thousand Villages, and doing a kiosk. He gives a lot of extra credit and he accepts late work. Turn it in before he grades it. 5 essays with 1.5 spaced and 12 font. One huge group project
