This guy is about as usefull as a toothbrush at playboy party. yeah he is that bad, He is this little man with big ideas or perfection, Don't ever want to see him again. and I mean everq
He is hilarious!!! He is pretty hard but he is helpful and fun
The only thing good about him is his jokes. To me, his jokes are also stupid.
he is a crazy teacher. and i cant even uderstand him. his jokes are the only thing funny in his class.
The Devil
everything these people have said (that are bad) are true. he isn't helpful, and honestly wasn't very friendly when you needed help. he was often critical.
This guy has no idea what he is talking about, I was semi-amused when he plays with a mole on "mole day" cause he kinda resembles a mole. He's a chump, on some kind of power trip over undergraduates. Probably due to insecruity from being the only member of the chemistry dept without a Chemistry PhD.
never had an occasion to speak one on one with him, but he is fun to laugh with/at during class. likes to pick on people, so as long as you stay under his radar(never wear shorts to lab!) class is okay and sometimes even amusing.
This guy is the reason I refused to take chem 130 at UTK. He is crazy and the lab final is ridiculous. The lab grade doesn't impact your chemistry grade too much, so it doesn't really matter.
I feel that i can honestly say the Hazari is a jerk. He refused to let me make up one lab and dropped my lab grade in half. The lab work is easy and i didnt think the lab final was too bad, i made a B on it, but Hazari thinks he is king of the world.
Comments made by the others are true. What he teaches is not hard, it is easy! What makes the lab "hard" is his ridiculous and childish methods and manners! A poor example of how science ought to be taught and how students should be treated.
good lab guy
He isn't a great teacher, and his lab final is impossible. The actual lab work isn't too bad, but it is just a pain.
This guy is seriously a jerk. He thinks he's funny but he's not and he just picks on people inculding the TAs. Horrible horrible teacher!
He puts me to sleep because his lectures are BOOORRRRIIIINNNNGGG!
He is funny, but a bit of a show off. Sadly, he ammuses himself at the expense of embarrassing others.
Perhaps he should have picked show business. He's entertaining to the class, but he's a dick if you try to talk to him one-on-one. You should pretty much skip that part and just guess the answer to whatever question you have.
AWFUL AWFUL little man. His lab final is very hard try to remember what color som odd ball chemical turned during a rxn and you might do ok.
He has a PhD in EDUCATION, NOT chemistry! He annoys me because he acts like the students are idiots, and he embarrasses them all the time. While I did get a kick out of some of the things he said, it wasn't enough to make me like him. Plus, his lab final was ridiculous....if my TA hadn't given me a study guide, I would have probably failed it.
Made labs suck even more by being crazy about crap like not arriving before the exact second that class is to start. Also, really enjoys putting down students that don't need put down. Loves to single out students and loudly point out what they are doing wrong. Also has no concept of true lab safety.
He always tries to make jokes and keep class interesting. Lectures are not boring and tests are pretty easy, as long as you go to class and take very good notes. take notes about things like what his rubber fish's name is. He'll ask stuff like that. However, if you ask him a question after class, he usually responds in a way to make you feel stupid
You need to study the lab experiment before you come to lab! You never know when he might give you a quiz, and if you're not familiar with the reading, then you might as well give up on trying the quiz.
He is very hard to understand. DO NOT be late for his lab. If you are late, he will make you leave. You also need to follow the dress code, or again, he will make you leave. He gets enjoyment in calling people out in lab and making fun of them. He likes pop quizes, which are hard if you do not read the assigned lab.
i really really hated this class...
I had Dr. Hazari as a lab professor. I think he is funny but other than that I just don't like this guy. He is way too anal and seems like he is one of those teachers that enjoys making things hard and seeing people struggle.
I got in trouble for being "naked" in lab numerous times. Best tip for this class is be in dress code, laugh at his jokes, have a good partner(s) & TA.We tended to work in groups of 6 to get through a lab. As far as the final goes forget it. it is just a random series of questions.Study for the quizes & don't rely on what he did for another class.
He's just really mean. And the lab final is impossible.
It's impossible to express my dislike of this man. He visibly enjoys seeing people fail, and makes lab feel like a concentration camp. The only tip i can give for this class is this: Suck up, or get out.

terrible
Dr. Al Hazari is entertaining, but does not offer his knowledge much in making lab more useful for those who attend. He seems to give all of his work to the TAs, and spends the bulk of his time making fun of students. I do believe he has a caring side, but he rarely shows it outside of personal situations. I really think he should just teach more.
He's the DEVIL. Everytime I hear him talk, I imagine him having a conversation with Borat. He makes jokes but at 8 in the morning they just piss you off. He ruins my whole day in the 45 minute period he talks. The lab final is impossible.
He is great. Very funny. The lab final is killer, its not a rumor he asks colors of the reactions performed. If you study and follow his rules an A should be no problem.
lab final is impossible!! he freaks if you're even 1 min late. couldn't stand lab
This guy is such a contradiction, he's funny in lecture but a jerk every other time. You can tell he cares (on rare occasions) about making demonstrations, using props, etc, but then he makes the quizzes and lab final impossible and seemingly unrelated to the actual important concepts (ie, be ready to memorize random rxn species).
TERRIBLE MAN! Surprisingly, he is very entertaining and class flies by, but don't let him fool you. He is a complete **** in person.
He is awful. I can not stand him. Chemistry WAS my major, but I am only going to deal with him as much as I have to. He is so arrogant and thinks he is amazing. but he is not and is a horrible teacher. I pay good money to go here and expect my teachers to be at least descent.
This guy is insane. He is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. He does get joy out of seeing his students fail. His lab quizes are ridiculous and don't even cover the material on the pre-lab. I'm pre-pharmacy and almost want to transfer just so I wont have to deal with him next year in Organic. Terrible terrible terrible teacher.
If you're not late and obey the dress code, he will leave you alone for the most part. However, the only good thing about him is his jokes. He's pretty heartless and is absolutely set on his stupid policies. Lab final was also way harder than it should have been
He's funny, and strikes you as a charming guy, but he's pretty useless if chemistry isn't your thing. The labs are supposed to be the fun part, and while they can be interesting at times, his quizzes will leave you feeling like an idiot, and his lab final IS MEANT TO bring you down. It will destroy your confidence, and hurt your lab average.
He is unprofessional with both students and his TAs, and he is very condescending. The lab final is passable in my opinion. However, by the time I got to it, I didn't care anymore. I am not taking 130 primarily because of this man. My dad had him at Ole Miss (circa 1977) and said he was the same way then. Oh well, I guess some things never change.
Hated going to lab because of him. He has a horrible attitude, one of self-proclaimed superiority. He gives surprise quizzes, they aren't that bad long as you did the pre-lab. I tried to avoid him as much as possible. Also, his lab final was moderately difficult, he has a few questions that are very picky. But you have no choice BUT to take him.
Dont believe what the other people say, His quizzes aren't bad. although his final is tough, most TA's give you rediculously good lab grades to pad your grade so you can take the hit like a champ.
All of these comments are pretty accurate
he'll make you feel like an idiot
Dr. Hazari is not that bad of a teacher. His lab final is killer but the TA's do go easy on the labs so it doesn't hurt that much. He is really funny and the quizzes are not surprise, they are every other week, he just doesn't tell you that. He isn't really helpful, but he isn't evil and he is quite funny. o and he will call and wake you up.
Dr.Hazari is a nice lab professor. The lab qizzes can be hard if you don't read them prior to the lab.The final is hard but I passed it. Just go to lab, if you have to talk to him he is very nice.
He is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. His test and quizzes are not fair. He asks the most specific questions possible and is a fan of trick questions and every question is worth alot of points so if you dont know one you are already screwed. I am an A/B student and am sitting at about a D right now. Take the class somewhere else.
Hazari is awful! The other teachers and TAs don't even like him. I studied for hours for the lab final and still failed miserably. Cross your fingers for a good TA. He is not nice so just avoid him if you can. He will berate you and is not interested in your success in the slightest. By far the worst teacher I have ever experienced!
Huge superiority complex. Doesn't really care how students fare in his class. Basically thinks students should memorize the entire lab manual. Gives an extremely hard lab final that you are meant to fail almost. Unfortunately he's the lab instructor for chem 120 and 130, so you can't really avoid him. Unfortunate for you.
ugh. dr. hazari thinks he is much smarter than his students and he lets them know that. he has random quizzes that aren't too bad. he really doesn't do anything, he makes the TAs teach the pre-labs. he walks around the lab during your experiment and will yell at you if you are doing even the smallest thing wrong. "you could catch the place on fire"
What a freaking ****r. I'd pay for this class twice over, just to not have this man as a lab professor. I had a job this past semester, to pay for college, and I walked into his lab ten minutes late and he decided to chew me out in front of ~350 students. Don't let him push you around, I tore him a new one and he never said another word to me.
Alan Hazari - the class was very hard, I never made more than a 70 on any quiz/test but still made a B in the course. Seems approachable, but the TAs really handled all questions. Go to lecture, do the assigned practice questions. I thought he was nice and fatherly and not at all like the monster others described.
Terrible! I had him for lab and lecture. To study for his exams, I recommend going to class and writing down the random things he talks about in addition to the power points and study both.
As I sit here and write this I wanted to cry. Currently studying for his exam....HELP US.
Good Professor, exams and quizzes tough, labs extremely easy. You need to study hard in this class if you want to do well on quizzes/exams--Chemistry isn't a cakewalk. Lab will pad your grade. Hazzari provides ample opportunity for extra help.
Okay, first, don't let these people psych you out about Hazari. He's not as bad as they make him out to be. But he is definitely headstrong and its his way or the highway. & if you take Chemistry 120, 130, 100, OR 110, you're going to have him for lab. So might as well not stress about it. He's really not that bad, I promise.
not fair! Any random thing he says in class or on the powerpoint- on the quiz. ANYthing in the book (including information in prac. prob.)- on the quiz. He is so unfair! i know the material but he is so knit picky that it's hardly possible to do good. Go to class. Study every night. You don't have a choice but to have him if you are in 100 or 110.
He is very strict on correct lab behavior and attire, I know this for fact due to me being kicked out of a lab by Hazari but other than that he has decent jokes sometimes.
Completely pointless class. I think this will be my first B-, maybe even a C. I worked so hard in the class but it does not help. He forces his TAs to grade ridiculously hard, and he provides little to no help. I'm glad I never have to take chemistry again.
toughest class of my fall semester.i dnt know how i made it out of the class with a B.make sure you have a good TA and make A's on your labs, that def pads your grade.Dr.Hazari isnt really helpful at all but YOU SHOULD ATLEAST TRY TO MEET WITH HIM OUTSIDE OF CLASS once.his quizzes&test are very specific,so read the txtbook and do the chap. problems
Dr. Hazari is definitely a tough professor, but nothing like the horror stories on this site. Make sure you read the book! Many people think it's all about the PowerPoint, but it's not. On the plus side he puts a huge curve on the grades.
He's entertaining. That being said, I definitely wouldn't want him as my primary prof, but people in chem 100-110 may not have a choice. For Chem 120-130 students he has very little impact on your grade, only like 8% including lab final. His lab final is difficult but I was expecting a lot worse. I made a 55 on it, and that was above the average.
WORST TEACHER EVER. this is not an easy class to begin with, but he doesnt make it any better. you probably will not pass the lab final... he makes it so that you will fail. And you have to study HARD for his regular exams/quizzes. and as for the semester final, good luck... he has made my college academic life absolutely miserable.
HE HATES EVERYONE EXCEPT OTHER CHEMISTS. I had him for both gen chem labs and after I had lab, the rest of my week was so much better. Gives lab quizzes and of course the lab final is impossible. I made an A in there even though I barely passed the lab final. Pray for a good TA.
I had him for 100 and have him right now for 110. He expects a LOT out of students. He says we should study an hour a day. His quizzes=tests, his tests=midterms. They're intensely difficult. Go see him, go to class, do the questions, read the book, read the slides, do well in lab. I got 60s/70s of quizzes and tests and got a B for 100. Good curve.
I had him for 100 & 110. The class is almost impossible to make an A in, but there was no other choice for professor. Study the book, the notes, the end of chapter problems, do well in lab, and you will make a B or C. He expects LOTS from the students.
He is a very challenging professor. You have to work and study extremely hard in order to do well on the quizzes and tests. There is a big curve at the end of the semester. Some TA's are helpful, others are not.
take chemistry 120 and 130 over this class. although there is a huge curve at the end, it doesn't always save you.. the lecture was a waste of time because, rather than actually teaching, he reads slides that look like an ancient language and doesn't explain them well at all. this class is extremely ridiculous and discouraging. avoid it.
I feel sorry for you if you have to take this class. My best advice would be to do ALL the assigned practice problems at the end of the chapters. He lectures over the easiest stuff, but tests you over the hardest possible material. Huge curve at the end. I got a B- w/ a 62 avg. Hardly covers any biochemistry. He is NOT helpful & rather rude.
Not nearly as bad as everyone says. Not an easy teacher but not a bad guy. Just be on time or he will destroy you and have fun doing it (If you think im kidding try it). Just follow ALL of his rules and go through the motions and you will be fine. Lab final is the worst but don't worry, everyone fails.
If you read the lab and pay attention to the instructions before lab, you should be fine in his class.
Hazari is a nightmare. Take this class somewhere else especially if youre not that great at chem. to begin with. My class average on the test was a 56 and i made a 33 despite the studying and tutoring i did. This class makes me hate my life.
Dr. Hazari only teaches during the lab portion for class, and he is very short-tempered. DO NOT SHOW UP LATE FOR LAB! Also, follow ALL of his rules or he will single you out, possibly even sending you out of the lab for the day. This class is extremely difficult. I attend SI sessions and yet I still have a great deal of difficulty in this class.
Hazari's class has been the thorn in my side. Hit or miss with TA's and he explains the easiest material and tests on the hardest. Class average on test was 56. When taking this class go to the tutorial center alot, they are the most help.
DO NOT SHOW UP LATE FOR LABS! He will catch you, and he will kick you out, it happened to me. Hizari is not a very nice man and going to lecture seemed pointless since all the slides were online, but the most random bits of info were on the quizzes and exams which are designed to make you fail. Good thing for the 2 letter grade curve.
For everyone saying that he isnt hard... you CLEARLY did not have him for LAB and LECTURE. my life has been a living hell. I personally talked to the tutors in the tutorial center who told me that i should have taken 120-130! I am trying to get into nursing, he screwed my GPA big time! All i gotta say is if you get a bad TA, you might as well drop!
Hazari was funny and liked to joke around. He's very strict, though. He doesn't play around with things but he will poke fun at different people. Overall, I actually liked him. He's not an easy A, but its not impossible to do good. Don't freak out about him like people made me. Some things are impossible but its not THAT bad. Chemistry is tough!
super strict in labs, if late u get a zero. dress code is super strict as well, if not followed, can be sent home for the day. no way to avoid him for lab but he makes chemistry labs really tough
Hazari is super strict and can be a jerk. Chem lab is not easy and VERY frustrating! However, after a few weeks of chem lab i got used to him and found him entertaining. One good thing about him is that you will have no problem paying attention during pre-lab lecture, which is more than i can say for my discussion professor, Dr. Wilson.
Don't freak out. Yes, he is hard (lab final average was like a 50?) But most of the people commenting on this are the ones who didn't follow the rules and he went off on them. If you follow the rules, he's perfectly fine. I actually loved him and thought he was really funny. Just don't give him reason to single you out.
By far the hardest class I have ever had in my 3 years of college. His tests are designed to make you fail and without a good TA your chance of a good grade is slim. The only good thing I can say about him is that he is funny. Good luck if you take him
All I can say is Hazari is a funny professor, very rude, and strict. His exams aren't very difficult if you have a good TA but if you don't, I feel sorry for you. The lab final and final exam are the hardest exams PERIOD. The can take you from a A to a C. Also if you need help DO NOT expect him to help you at all. He's not that type of person
Dr. Hazari is terrible. His quizzes and tests are incredibly hard...they aren't designed for you to pass! Hardest teacher ever and He has no sympathy. He makes me furious!
Dr.Hazari's class was definitely my hardest and I struggled a lot just to make a C. I suggest going to the Chemistry Tutorial center in Dabney Buehler and the tutorial center in the library. His tests and quizzes are very difficult, but labs you should make A's on. If you start off struggling in his class make sure to go and get help!
I actually did better in Chem 110 than in Chem 100 with Hazari, but by no means was it easy. If you can, take Chem 120 and 130 instead. Or better yet, take chemistry somewhere else. If you have to take Hazari, get a hold of old tests and quizzes, and study A LOT.
Go to lab and class and you should be fine. He will not be understanding if you miss lab for anything. You must wear the proper stuff. Lecture can be hard but he really tries and tells dumb jokes, he's harmless.
A lot people say that he is super strict and is impossible to make good grades in his lab. It's chem lab, the procedures and dress code are there in place for safety and as long as you follow the steps, you'll get good grades. He does tell dumb jokes but he's really nice once you talk to him. Warning: His final lab exam is HARD!
Everyone needs to quit complaining about Hazari. If you do you work, the lab is easy. The lab final is hard, but that's life. The only reason people don't like him is because he is strict. Just do what he says. Simple as that.
He designed the freshman lab course and it sucks. The labs are either 2 weeks ahead or 2 weeks behind of what you do in lecture. The labs are easy because the TAs make them that way. No one has a clue of what they're doing, students just follow instructions. No learning here, just busy work. That's why the final is hard.
Hazari lacks empathy. Missing just one lab (and you cant be even a second late) means dropping a letter grade in the course. Even if you do get the lab excused, scheduling the makeup is impossible, and he shows no sympathy even in the most extreme situations. The TAs are nice but Hazari has them on a very tight leash. AVOID AT ALL COST.
About as relevant as he is funny. He is on a constant power trip. He sets the final up for you to fail, however, there is no way to avoid taking him if you have to take general chemistry. Just try to make the best grades you can on the labs to make up for the final and the prelab quizzes.
good luck. you will need it.
Hazari is a nice man, but his lab is hard. You will do well if you put the work in. Lab assignments are always pointless so just be prepared to do a lot of busy work. His lab final is the hardest thing ever. I am lucky I made a 77. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR LAB CLOTHES. He means it when he says he will send you home if you don't.
Final was extremely hard because it's impossible to remember all the chemicals used in lab but study the lab book. He's not mean but he is serious about the lab regulations. Follow the rules, attend labs, and read over the materials and you'll be fine!
This man is completely full of himself. He would rather degrade a student than help a student. I was a really good student, but I got in a bad accident. He told me that I could just take my exam on hydros. So I marched myself right that lab with missing teeth and a broken arm. Then he complained about my cast and experiments.
Chemistry is intended to be a weed out class. Hazari is definitely hard on his students, but it's necessary to get rid of the kids who are too lazy to work their butts off to pass this class and move on. It's not easy, and he expects a lot, but if you legitimately put in the work, you'll be fine. Do well in labs, because the lab final is impossible
Completely full of himself. Makes jokes that only he thinks are funny. Doesn't help you out at all. Labs are easy though. Quizzes are not. He does not tell you when they are either. They pop up randomly. Good luck. d
The class is intended to weed out students, i just followed the instructions in the book and did fine on the labs. But i honestly learned very little in lab, it was easy to just follow directions but i had no idea what was actually happening, which is the point of the lab,but i guess with that many students in a class its inevitable.
I loved having Hazari. He was sarcastic and condescending, but it's hard to meet a Chem teacher who isn't. It was fun watching him make fun of the kids who were "going to be doctors someday" but couldn't even wear the right lab attire. If Chem is your major and you live by this site, switch majors. Hazari is a piece of cake compared to others.
People blow this out of proportion. He has a few easy rules- and guess what- they're for your safety. If you stay out of his way, there will be no problems. Hazari doesn't look for trouble. His lab final was easy if you know chemistry. All these negative comments are people who didn't follow his rules. If you watch him, I think he enjoys teaching.
You have no choice but to go through this degrading joke of a man, and you will pay the price for simply attending his class. He cracks dry jokes and will kick you out for minor lab attire violations. Be prepared to be embarrassed in front of hundreds if you walk in late. Learned next to nothing. His TAs worship him and pass their hardship onto you
Dr. Hazari is strict, but his rules make sense and are not difficult to follow. My TA made it much easier, but I feel the stereotype Hazari has is not accurate. If you prepare for lab and make smart choices, you'll be fine. His lab final is difficult, but, again, I don't think it is too bad. If you prepare, you should be fine.
Al Hazari is not as bad as he is made out to be. Just follow his simple rules so that no one is hurt during lab, and make sure to complete the prelabs on time. The exam is challenging, but all you really have to do is study the lab manual.
Annoying. Makes the same awful jokes every week. Lab is easy but he makes his lab final impossible for no reason.
Not as bad as everyone makes him sound, he makes corny jokes and makes you wear the right clothes in lab (duh). The labs are difficult to understand and the TA's aren't much help. Lab final was hard but just study the manual. Not too bad.
Hazari is terrible. You basically have to bite the bullet. There is no use in studying for the lab final because it is impossible. I studied for it and still failed it. Just go to class, do the pre labs, and do well on your labs and you'll be okay.
Ha. Hazari. He's nothing to be afraid of; maybe to be irritated and annoyed by. The labs are dumb and an absolute waste of your time, but necessary evil. Do what you're asked, and you'll be fine. The TAs are usually really nice and helpful; they get that Hazari is loopy and that the labs are really dumb and vague. Be their friend. :)
Hazari is just part of CHEM.You never really see him anyway. The prelabs are difficult, and you never know the correct answer if you get it wrong. The lab quizzes are pretty random I failed most of them, but they don't count for much. They usually are based off of the lab manual. The lab final is bad but do well on the actual labs & you'll be fine.
Never did anything to bother me specifically, but he is a very rude and blunt person. He is extremely rude to some of the TAs and is very disrespectful in some situations. I dont know why but it seems like he is just a mean person.
He literally is so bad. His jokes are not funny and he's not helpful at all. Makes students feel like they're stupid if they don't understand something. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF AT ALL POSSIBLE but I'm pretty sure almost all freshman have to if you take chemistry and I am so sorry for that.
Overall Dr. Hazari isn't a terrible teacher. but, he can be harsh. I waited outside of the classroom an hour before the lecture to ensure I wouldn't be late (and he saw me waiting too).Ten minutes before class started, I had a medical emergency, which necessitated my leaving. When I came back, I was only 5 minutes late, but he gave me a 0 on a quiz
I personally don't like him at all, but you only see him during the 30 minutes (if even) before a lab. I think his quizzes are a little challenging and his lab final is completely ridiculous. The thing is that there is not a way around him, so you will just have to endure the class. He is very mean to his students, too, so there's that.
Face it, you'll have to take him as your lab lecturer. Lab quizzes and the lab final are killers, but they aren't weighted too heavily for your grade, so its not the end of the world if you fail them
The existing reviews on Hazari are on point. He makes lame jokes, gives impossible pop quizzes, and the labs are vague and very difficult. I took AP chemistry as well as organic in High School but this was much more difficult. Perhaps it was the thick Indian accent, but I hated the labs.
Hazari is an enigma of a man. I thought I had him figured out - a grumpy, mean professor who liked to shake up naive freshmen. But then on the last day of class, as I was walking out of the final never to return, Hazari looked at me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said with father-like compassion: "good luck". Why me? I'll never understand.
If you need help with something, he will make it known to everyone in the room. He is very rude. The labs are very confusing and difficult to do. The quizzes he gives before labs are the most difficult assignments that I have ever had to complete.
The lab is a joke. I spend so much time to figure how to do the pre lab and also have to try to remember lab procedure because it is in the pop quiz and final lab. The information is nothing relate to the lecture and it require times to find the answers. It is just so consuming and the final is acceptable but ridiculous.
Hazari is horrible. My chemistry class was going great grade wise. Then I ended up having to miss a lab because I got choked on before I came to class. Later on, I had to miss a 2 labs because of snow . ( I commute from about 2 hours away) . He would not work with me and basically called me a liar, although I had proof (I had called an ambulance)
Such a mean person. So vague. Useless as a professor. He needs to go.
Freshmen with problematic work ethic have problems with Hazari. The guy's accent is hilarious at eight o'clock in the morning, and you know what to expect. Go to lecture, go to lab, read and do your homework, ask questions. It is a freshman course. Put out, and you will be just fine.
He's kind of mean and the lab pop quizzes kind of suck, but the labs themselves are actually quite easy.
Horrible "professor", mean person. I once asked him a question I had about the lab procedure and he belittled me in front of the class. I am a female, and instead of answering the question I had for him, he asked all of the men around me if they thought what I was wearing was appropriate. I started crying. By the way, I was in proper lab attire.
Dr. Hazari cares very little about the education of his students. He is the most condescending teacher I've ever had the displeasure of meeting with, and obviously boasts a severe distaste for his students. He never gives any leeway to any student, and questions are met with patronizing non-answers.
