This is for Political/Social US History from Colonial times to 1877. It was decently easy in the sense there was really little-to-no work to do (except for an enormous essay due at the end of the semester), but the most boring lecturer on history ever.
I took Mr Parker for an online class, getting A in this class would require 40 hours a week *(not really but it would take a long time). His exams are 20 questions in 20 minutes and the questions are very specific and random. Don't take him.
telecourse. He's a hard teacher but good. This is a real college course, not an overblown high school course. Only assignment besides tests is civil war letters- 3 each from north & south. Very interesting, knows history & trivia.
This teacher is a homework Nazi, especial his online class. Plus he really really hard on test in class and online, plus he doesn't give you enough time to do any of hi work. AVIOD THAKING HIS CLASS AT ALL COST
ok. i have al since i was in seventh grade and he is one the most knowlegable men out there when it comes to history and he is really a nice man besides. he may seem really odd but don't worry tat is because he is take his class at all costs

History can't be hard unless you are a retard. He is very informative and certainly knows what he is talking about. He is very long winded the first few days, but once he is on topic his class is very interesting.

EXTREMLY HARD!!!! Has a lot of work and the tests are extremely hard. its werid when a teacher recommends dropping and doesnt recommend taking his online course. He said this. Another thing in the beginning of class it was full by the end there was 10

He is extremely knowledgeable but not down to earth. He uses a lot of political science jargon, as if you already know all about political science, if we already knew as much as he wanted us to know then we wouldn't be taking his class.
This man is a very hard teacher! i think it's because he actually knows something about history. he also like to talk a lot which isn't really a good thing in this case cause none of what he says in his lectures is on the test!
He digresses, speeds through the good parts, but crawls through the insignificant things. There is almost ZERO homework, notes are not required. 3 tests and 2 major essays, handouts for every tests that make them passable.
you have to keep up on the reading. that is key, or the lectures are EXTREMELY boring. he is very knowledgable and passionate. he truly wants to help each and every student and really makes you believe that. hard class though, extensives reviews though.
No homework. 1 research paper and 4 tests. As long as you keep up on the reading you'll be fine. Don't go to class expecting to learn much from his lectures. If you can't keep up on doing the reading on your own then you're not going to pass the tests, don't pass the tests and dont pass the class.

He's not as bad as everyone says, he pretty much leaves your grade up to you. If you listen, read, study, and take notes you'll pass with flying colors. If you're lazy, like me, you'll get the grade to show for it. I think he's alright though.
I liked his personality but not his class. I am not that into history so I had a hard time. Be prepared to study your butt off if you want to pass. The research paper has to be perfect if you want a passing grade.
I took the online course and he NEVER responded to emails, you had NO IDEA what your grade was in the class until you received your FINAL grade! I would ONLY take this teacher again if he was the ONLY one and I needed the class to live! I received a good grade in the class anyway (But that is because I did all the work required-and their was a lot)
I hate him and his class with a passion. He is completely full of himself. His class is very easy, but he seems to be constantly shoving his opion various opions down your throat. And on top of being arrogant, he's also boring.

OMG...I just want to fall asleep every single class! This guy obviously has a weath of knowledge to share, but he goes off on tangents constantly. Instruction usually doesn't start untill 30 minutes into class. Take the hybrib class so you only see him once a week!

Hated the class, just scraped by with a C and I felt like I worked my rear-end off! Total stickler for dates and names being memorized perfectly. BORING lectures during the entire class period. Rude and rather arrogant as a person and NOT helpful in any way.
Al teaches the class like he's teaching a master's program. He has completely too high expectations for a Community College. He does not let you know what to study until after you've taken the test, simply tells you study chapters 1-8. Very hard and boring lectures that are not applicable to the subject matter and he has no student understanding.
Professor Parker was always late to class, always kept us late, almost never returned phone calls or responded to emails. He also belittled our class by saying that nobody in his other classes had problems with his 80 question 60 minute exams. On at least 2 different occasions, I attempted to contact him during office hours and he was not there.
Very hard teacher. Very tuff on essays, he expects you to be a student in a Master's level program. He tends to forget that this is a Community College. Parker does not respond to emails, does not cover all needed material in lectures because of his consistancy to dwell and repeat certain unessecary points,his lectures are chaotic and hard to follow, you can tell he loves what he teaches, but unfortunately, it doesnt help level out against the cons.

DO NOT TAKE! I had him during Spring and that was the worst mistake I have ever made at RCC. I love school, I am graduating with distinction and I warn everyone not to take this teacher. I got a B in his class, but it killed me. Parker is always late, disorganized, and monotone. He tests more on his opinions than the coursework. I was disappointed!

Worst teacher ever. He lags on everything from the syllabus to your grade. He takes forever to grade anything and I have a midterm paper due tomorrow which he has not posted the link for yet after nearly the whole class has e-mailed him. The hardest dang teacher I have ever had. My boyfriend and I took the class together thinking we would have been able to help eachother out! Yea right! The tests are ridiculously hard and infact we both ended up dropping. I do not recommend this teacher.
All these kids want easy classes, get over it already! This Hist. class was tough at first, there is TONS of reading. But after the 2nd chapter, the reading we did online, it was SUPER interestig. Things I never knew. Study The PRACTICE quizzes. I liked it. A LOT! Going to take Hist. 7 next. He was ill, that is why it took awhile for him to respond
I agree with the last comment. This class was not easy at first but he really wants you to learn the subject. He grades tough on his papers so make sure you have taken English 1A prior top taking this class. He was very helpful and always ready to fully answer any questions I had. I learned a lot in this class.
Took Fall on-line. U will be reading a lot & having to prepare papers. Course isn’t easy, but u will do ok if u work. Doesn’t answer e-mails swiftly. Is a fair grader. Just be prepared to work & study harder than normal. His Research Paper, “write 6 letters”, I thought wasn’t a great use of my limited time. Tests need more time; 20 in 16 minutes.
It was a hybrid class so we only attended 3 times in person. He was late at least twice. Did not answer emails, did not have work ready to do when needed. Very frustrating. I am a straight A student and got an A, but I had to work super hard. Tons of reading and he'll give you literally a million papers and find some obscure fact to test you on.
OK people get over it. If your planning on going to a four year get used to it. This is what REAL college class is like. If you can get through his class you can get through any class. Life isnt easy you should have to WORK for what you get. Dont be such whiny brats.

Wow im very suprised at the comments. I am currently taking his class and I think it is so easy. He is very clear.and straight to the point. Yes you must read the book and the quizes are sooo easy, he practically gives you the answers. In fact I like his class so much that im going to take His 6 during winter.

You have to stay sharp to achieve an A. Classes are all lectures and they do help. Quizzes are short but time is shorter, you either you know the answer or you don't. Know the study guides well and you'll pass. Midterm essay straight forward, research paper needs to be very thorough. Parker wants students to learn, but you have to earn your grade.
VERY EASY!!!! I DID THE RESEARCH ESSAY IN 2 HOURS AND MOSTLY COPY AND PASTED THE WHOLE THING AND GOT A C. HE GIVE YOU ALL ANSWERS TO THE TEST QUESTIONS SO AS LONG AS YOU KNOW THAT YOU OK...AS FOR THE FINAL ITS ALL THE SAME QUESTIONS SO SAVE THE TESTS!
Listen, I took him 2 times, for History 6 and 7. Knowing he is a little tough. I love the book, the online lecture, the research paper wasn't hard, as long as you know how to write a paper. The final paper was tough, but why do you want college to be so easy, then you don't learn anything. I like him alot! Viva PARKER! A+ in my book.
His political science class has little to no structure. You basically come into class, and then he begins lecturing (or ranting). The majority of the time, the class isn't following. One thing that really irritated me was that he made it sound like our tests would be based on our book. Come to find out, they were based on his boring lectures!

Decent professor. Very informative lectures. Only problem, he is a bit unorganized. Jumps around timeline in lecture b/c he forgets to mention several things. Not too much of a problem though, if you read the book like you're supposed to. Prepares you for 4 year institutions. If you complain about him, you need to reevaluate yourself first.

Took class online. Very picky teacher and can come off confusing sometimes. Hard grader and quizzes are rushed, 20 questions in 15 minutes. Work load is mediocre. Quizzes were hard and short (no really, 20 questions, 15 mins). Even though you had help with book you better KNOW it before you take the quiz, and even if you know it, it's still hard. Lectures were boring, fell asleep in some. Tests were more on what the professor thought on the subject than the textbook material, entire class did horrible.
Too many students are complaining. Mr. Parker might be difficult at times but he's fair and his lectures were very informative. Just follow his instructions and read the book and you'll get a good grade. Also, pay attention to the lectures. Many test questions are covered in the lectures. Notes are a must. Real college class. I took his online class and thought it was an error when I saw my alotted time was only 15 min. for a quiz. I thought about dropping but he forced me to learn the info rather than just get by. I do have to say, he made me a better student. He seems short w/ you at times, but I think he means well. I got a B in his class but worked hard for it.
Took this class online. I don't reccomend - at least not during winter intercession - way too intense. I just finished and it has been an exhausting 5 weeks. I might get a B, but probably a C. :/
Not exactly sure whether or not he is a good professor. While he is a fair grader, most of the content of his lectures are often irrelevant, and his tests rarely focus on what is in the textbook.
He is very hard and picky on the assignment so you must be a critical thinker and read his assignments carefully. I like him beside the fact he chewed my ass. Overall I like him. You must understand he has a PHD from UCLA. Peps from UCLA have an ego problem.
Great professor! Took his online class this Winter. He provided useful and relevant info and assignments were always thought provoking. Grading is tough, but fair. He made himself extremely available to all his students, gave us his cell # and was always willing to take the extra time to further explain something. Highly recommend!

Most boring class I have ever taken. Days are filled with nonstop rambling and time seems to slow down to a snails pace. Al can take something as easy as clicking a mouse and break it down so ridiculously in detail that you will consider suicide. for the sake of your sanity do not take his class

Do not take him just like others say, ESPECIALLY during the summer. He does have a lot of work in class. Took online during summer. Lots of work but you'll do well if you focus. I didn't focus as much as I should of and got at 69% but he gave me a C so he will help you out, and he will do what he can to help you pass. Great teacher! would take him again!
it's weird how i got a D in his class. i have tooking about 7 other classes and my lowest grade in the Other one has been a B. it's effecting my GPA. i didnt find his class hard or when he assigned essays. It's his quiz that seem to trick you,and the test which is straight forward so if you don't know then your getting it wrong. oh class is boring.
I took this class online in the winter. I took the first test after only studying for an hr and got an F. I emailed the professor stating the 15 min time limit to do 20 long ?s is imposible he told me to study more. For the second test I studied for 6 hours and felt prepared, and I got a D. I am an A student! I dropped knowing theres no way to pass
I took this class in the winter session. His class is straight forward yes it was alot of reading online and in the book. His test are timed so make sure you study and you will be ok. He gives you a study sheet and a sample quiz. If you do your part, you will get a good grade like me. :D Best wishes to all.
Great professor. I am very surprised by all the negative comments. There are no surprises in class or in exams. Exams are very easy as long as you do the homework and actually pay attention in class. Lectures are very interesting and I have decided to major in history because of this class. I highly recommend this professor if you care to learn.
history 6 online. Syllabus-waist of paper. His tests are intricate, only get 10 min to answer 20 questions. He's specific with everything required and holds to his requirements, no alloted deviations. There's no feedback from grading nor can u review tests. 1 mo. Left & he just graded the midterm still no comments for review. Don't take this class!
AVOID!!!!! The hadest professor ive ever taken. the reading is rediculous because u have to not only read the from the text but what seems like endless hyperlinks on webct. i think he thinks that your only taking his class and nothing else is going on in your world. will not work with you. if you need the class he's teaching id wait for another.
Online class. He has created a nice mix of online materials with weblinks and his course requires lots of reading. It seems like he put it together years ago and now executes it on auto pilot because a. he's not too accessible, b. there is no constructive feedback on written assignments and they are graded late, and c. his course grades are late.
I got failing grades on most of my written assignments with no explanation as to why. Took him forever to grade them. I had really hoped for an A in this class and worked really hard. If you want to work your tail off to get a C, this is the class for you.
Best History professor I have ever had. Extremely knowledgeable on all things history. He is about 5 min late to every class but is in his office during posted office hours. He seems abrasive but if you apply yourself he can tell and will help you any way he can. Too bad he will be teaching only a few classes a year now.

online class. Avoid at all costs. I dont think he knows about this site, otherwise he would probably change his ways. Most of the material that he tests on is not in the book, its in outside reading assignments. He has several different things for you to read, which are all very vague and tries to berate you if you dont understand and ask for help.
I would not recommend this class at all. This instructor is not helpful and loves to demean his students. When you ask a question, he makes the student feel absolutely stupid for even asking. Consider another instructor for History 6 & 7. He is not very prompt on replying e-mails as well. Not good.
Worst teacher ever! Took him 7months to respond to my email so I could finish my "incomplete work" that HE LOST, so because of his mistake, I have more work to do in order to get my grade changed from an I/C to a regular grade. He loses work, demeans students, blames EVERYTHING to include his problems on the student, etc Like I said, WORST TEACHER!

I earned an "A" after a ton of hard work so it is doable but let's be frank, he is an ass the whole way through. Has a bad attitude, focuses on the moral lacking students seem to have according to him, and asks test questions not in the assigned material. There are better professors for history at RCC. I don't understand the point of making a mandatory GE course so insanely tedious. Please, don't take this guy if you just want to pass and continue en route to a 4 year university. Everything in this class is micromanaged. I just fail to see the point of it when it doesn't help...at all.
this teacher is so rude. he doesn't help you with anything. he talks and talks for the entire class period and expects you to write everything he says down. then he expects to read hundreds of pages from the book with tiny little words to prepare for the test. he is very unhelpfull and if you ask question he's just mean about it.
Parker's online class was hard. He wouldn't respond to anybody's emails and student's bashed the class on the discussion board. He ended up sending a message that it was his last semester because his "heart isn't in it anymore." How odd since I know somebody in his class this semester and she is having the same problem with him. Unprofessional.
He is so boring that I found myself watching the construction out the window rather than listening to him. I fell asleep countless times. He says that everything on the test is in lecture or the book but ut's not. Completely unhealpful.
I took Parker's class several years ago, and this still stands out as one of my most interesting classes ever! Be prepared, though, he expects you to take responsibility and work hard, it's not just like your classes in high school. If you actually want to learn something, I highly recommend this instructor, he's very enthusiastic about the subject

Professor was beyond awful. He is impossible to get a hold of and disappears for weeks at time on online courses. Course went a week beyond end date because of that reason. Learned absolutely nothing.
If you attend all class sessions and study for the tests with the study guides he provides, you will pass the class. He is not that bad. He is very smart in history.
Mr. Parker is well knowledgeable about History of the Americas and it is an interesting class. You can learn a lot of things about the American Continents. Make sure you attend his lectures. Took his class back in Fall '10
This is not an easy class (I took it online). Important to read the lectures, do the study guides, and ESPECIALLY do each chapter review. This professor makes you critically think and read EVERY detail. If you are looking for an easy A, do not take this class. I busted my butt reading and studying and barely passed with an 80%.
BEWARE! This professor only give you 15 minutes to answer 20 questions for his online class. I studied for hours and I wrote notes and I read every article, did the evaluate quizzes and I still failed his quizzes. When I told him about how much I have studied, he just told me to keep doing the evaluate quiz that i already completed and went over. I
Parker lives out of state. The only thing that got graded on time were the quizzes&those were automatically unless its late. Judges off of word count though may not say so. Book was essential but no use to me. Posts to do were simple. Professor Parker is ill. Have patience or know before you sign up. If another prof didnt take over I wouldve failed

(1) I knew Professor Parker by a different name. He passed away in 2016. I randomly came on here today to read the comments. I've always known he had a terrible rating. I wanted to read them anyway. I found a common theme in the majority of the comments; rude, arrogant, unhelpful, boring.
