He is really smart in math and a very nice teacher and explains everything clearly. Sometimes he is too excited about math. He makes alot of jokes and all the students are laughing. He also hates Virginia Tech.

He is very nice, smart and funny. He's always willing to help students out and he's very encouraging!! If you want a teacher who makes math interesting and but still want to learn, you should defiantly take his class.

He's great! His notes are clear and he KNOWS what he's talking about! He seems quiet, but he has a good sense of humor and will answer any questions you have. I highly recommend him.

I hate Calculus; had to drop it twice before. This professor teaches in a way that make it much easier to understand instead of the abstract way the textbook tries to explain it. Highly recommend!

This guy is chill, no joke. His quiz questions are straight form the homework he assigns, and the exams resemble them fairly well. Final is cumulative though, so... yea. He keeps the class entertained with his jokes and comments, it should be a fun class!

I agree with the last person. He is smart/intelligent and knows well everything but likes to present things not related to calculus. It would be nice if you plan to go in math major and do something advanced level. Exams and grading is fair and test you what he teach in class. I will give "A" for knowledge but "c" for interest in the class.

This teacher is prob one of the best teachers ive ever had. hes chill about coming to class, doesnt take attendance, but gives full credit anyways! Not only does he teach what in the book, but also somestuff beyond the book, which is also interesting. I hated math before this class, and now I definately dont.

The guy is hilarious. Has the silliest mannerisms and loves what he's teaching. Keeps attention turned toward students and is always willing to help. Doesn't grade homework! (at least for my class, it was a very easy quiz each week and three exams)

Incredibly knowledgeable in linear algebra. He has a way of making complicated proofs seem easy, and he is very good at what he does. The computations were pretty easy. You have to work really hard in the class though. Really young guy and fun to listen to, highly recommended.

Best math teacher I've ever had. Presents topics at a smooth pace. Can actually make you laugh about math. Definitely does not have mandatory attendance; he is usually 20 minutes late himself. 2½ hour class with a 15-30 minute break. Overall, a really chill guy. He's like 24 years old, couple years out of UVA. Very intelligent and helpful.

Ala is certainly a chill teacher. This guy got me interested in the material by his passion and history lesson behind the math. To bad this material was just so elementary.

Everyone has a misconception that he is an easy teacher but actually he is just easy going. He would just explain u the concepts and do nothing more. But at the same time, his tests are not just the concepts, they are more than that, which screws u. He does bare minimal work. He is surely a chill person but not a good teacher.

If you want a simple class to get you by, this is the one. If you actually want to (or need to) learn the material, maybe you should find another teacher. I think he covered only the absolute-minimum basics of stat...I'm not so sure how i'm going to do in 242. Overall, you dont have to do the homework, just study for tests and you'll do fine.

Ala is the man. He teaches clearly and he is funny as hell. He went over stuff repeatedly so that everyone would understand. We got extra credit for watching a Newton video which was cool. Smart guy to, he likes math.

Hands down best teacher at nova, he's awesome. He actually cares about the subject he's teaching. Even though he's some kind of math genius he has no need to show that off, instead he teaches at a level that everyone can greasp. Everyone should take him that needs to take math. PS know how to do everything in your notes and you'll be fine.

If you're a serious student, I would avoid this professor. He was late to every class which is a huge pet peeve for me. He was easy to pass, but he's a kid and it shows.

Fun teacher! He really knew the material and usally repeated concepts more than once so that everyone understood. He is also very nice and approachable (and cute!). I highly recommend him.

Easiest class I've ever taken. It's such a relief!! I've missed half the classes and still have managed to get high A's on all the exams, and I'm bad at math. He covers the material fast but gives you lots of time to study, makes it really fun and if you know a lot about basketball he gives you extra credit. He's late a lot though.

His teaching is really good and he goes out of his way to explain the material clearly and repeat concepts. Don't be fooled though the class is kind of hard and you have to put in the work, but he makes the class enjoyable with his sense of humor. If you go to class and study the reviews you will be fine. He is an expert in the subject.

Best teacher ever! I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in class before. The class is really easy. He does everything in his power to make you pass the class. If you don't take math seriously and you don't think you will ever use it, take this class! And just remember, Hakeem Olojuwan is beast.

i hated the math xl hw, but other than that his classes were interesting. he was never late to our class it was at 11, and always kept us entertained with his stories, but u can really tell that he knows the information pretty well and is helpful. he sometimes looks sleepish, but i heard he's taking classes at UVA to finish his phD.

Listen, this guy is awesome. I like that he wants his students to get the bigger question. Not just ramble but what are we dealing with here. He keeps you awake too. He is engaging and you get to see some funny videos sometimes. You still have to work but you have the opportunity to realy do well in his class. USDA Grade A teacher. 1 word Chilled..

The professor genuinely wants you to do well and he has such a wonderful personality. He is very young and has every right to be arrogant but acts the opposite way, very respectful. Only drawback is the MathXL hwk which took hours and hours to complete.

Coming from the world's worst math student, this guy made math a piece of cake for me. He was very helpful, very clear, and his class was very well-structured. I always knew what dates to be aware of, what the assignments were, and what material would be on the tests. I DEFINITELY recommend taking this professor! PS Be prepared to use MathXL a lot.

Great teacher for someone who struggles with math. I am an older adult who chooses my math professors very carefully and he is one of the best choices for me.

Excellent professor and very useful course

His class was super easy. All tests were multiple choice and online, so you take the test at home instead of coming into class that day. There is a lot of MathXL homework but it's not due until the end of the semester and you have virtually unlimited attempts to redo it. Start doing HW at least halfway through semester. He's a funny prof too.

i swear to god i thought he was really high for the first few classes and then found out it was just his personality. hes really nice and not too politically correct. all his tests except the final are online at home. overall awesome professor.

Really great online instructor, and he provides a study guide for each of the 4 exams and tells you EXACTLY what is on the exams, so it is really helpful. He is also lenient in the grading. Definitely recommended for Math 173174.

I took him online, so he didn't design the exams, but he was amazing at making sure you knew exactly what would be on the exams. He answered questions same day. Great grader and made sure you understand why you relieved what you received. He wants you to do well, but he also wants you to learn.

One of the best math teachers I have ever had. He thoroughly explains problems and makes the material easy to understand. He uses MathXL for the homework assignments and all are due at the end of the semester instead of every class period. All tests, excluding the final exam, are taken online.

He was pretty easy. 5 exams 4 on the computer. The final was multiple choice, lots of mathxl. One big project at the end all you have to do is do it and you'll get an A. I failed the final and still got a good grade.

I took the online class. I have never seen this guy in person. But this aladdin guy is an awesome teacher. His magic lamp is the awesome practice howework- its lyk you are solving puzzles! He is so chill. The tests are mainly writing, which makes it super easy. And it's fun to solve the work online. He is pretty cool! Easy, passable math class(;

(Online) - Gives great study guides for the exams so that you know what to expect and gives partial credit (which is huge with 4 tests making up 80% of the grade). The only downside is that he is horribly slow at grading, so you just have to take the test and forget about it (talking about 3-4 weeks). Taking him again next semester for sure!

Lots of work, but it is not difficult. I thought his lectures were interesting enough and he is pretty funny and easy going. He isn't very old, maybe 30? Incredibly smart guy. I feel like we could hang out and drink a few beers before going to the Taco Bell he used to work at.

This is my second time taking Calc II and i am no math wizard. However, even given that and many issues i had during his class (Celiac, losing someone at work causing me to work 50/60 hours, my daughter being sick several times) i got a 77%. Think if i had been able to do this class to my full potential! The main thing is he gives study guides!

He's very clear with his teaching, and is pretty lenient about the work he assigns. He's very into math history, so you'll get to learn that as well. Absolutely would tell anyone to take him!

Professor Abdelbaki is a best professor at NOVA. You just have to do mathxl for homework. There are 10 assignments due for the whole semester and it is due in the beginning of the each class. He drops two lowest assignments and lowest test grade as well. There are three tests due for the whole semester. His lectures are boring and an easy A.

This was my first time taking an online course, and I wasnt sure how I would like it. However, it was a breeze because of Dr. Abdelbaki. He gives participation points through discussion posts, provides study guides for exams, and gives you as much partial credit on exams as he can. He doesnt try to trick you and wants you to do well

The course is challenging but he is great at explaining things and makes the class enjoyable.

He is easily the best math instructor I have ever had, at any level. Class is always very laidback, stress-free, and engaging. He makes the content very easy to understand through lots of examples. Tests and quizzes are very easy, and he drops two of the weekly quizzes to boost your grade.

Definitely my favorite math class I've ever taken, and this is coming from someone who has never done well or exceeded in math. Professor Abdelbaki explains calculus in a way that you can actually understand. In addition he is a very funny and laid back guy which makes it easier to grasp concepts. I would recommend him if you need this class.

Oh Ala "Issac Newton" Abdelbaki, where do I even begin. From integration by parts to polar coordinate graphing, from surface area to power series, Professor Abdelbaki breaks down every calculus concept into understandable life lessons with a twist of humor. His fascination with astronomy and mathematics ensures very enjoyable lessons.

I am not the type of person who likes to rate or leaving reviews but there are some exceptions like this one. This professor is just amazing. The Best Math professor I have ever had in my life. He is funny ( you will never get bored in his class) he is respectful, wise, patience and all the great things in a professor. I will leave him ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As someone without a single math-loving cell in my body, I can say the Prof Abdelbaki made a difficult course like calc 2 bearable. He is funny, and explains concepts well. His homework and quizzes are easy, so make sure you do well on those. The tests are hard, but he is a fair grader. My only gripe is that he takes weeks to grade tests.

This guy need a raise.
