Kassab talks way too fast, leaves notes up just long enough for you to read the titles, and assigns projects that few are able to do correctly. If you want to pass, you need to be in a group with one of those few. The tests are difficult, but they are curved. Ask for his notes after class, he just throws them away.

Dr. Kassab keeps you the entire class and writes notes way too fast, but make sure you go and take those notes-- the entire test (on webCT) can be completed correctly if you took good notes. Find 3 or 4 friends (1 or 2 good programmers) and take the class together-- the projects are tough and good teamwork is necessary. Make friends w/ Kevin!

This class will be easy if you are acquainted with matrix and linear algebra and programming in general (you will use MATLAB). Dr. Kassab is incredibly knowledgeable, and all of the information you need will be on his slides. The exams and quizzes are straightforward and simple. The coding assignments are done by the TA's during the labs.

The material is easy. However, the lectures are not. Kassab over-complicates and is more interested in showing off his MathCad skills (which we dont even use!!) Doesn't show how to implement them by hand (like the tests!). HW is a joke, solutions are mostly MathCad code, which doesn't help. One test's formula sheet was literally only MathCad code.

TAs are a huge help & understand the struggle. Lectures are seriously the most useless ive experienced at UCF. The way questions are worded is usually terrible, some assignments dont vary the correct answer in a big enough range to account for slight differences between compilers on various iteration calculations. But the material isnt too bad!

He can't explain at student lvl. He's too fast, unclear, and makes things too complicated. Uses MATLAB to teach but we have to use GNU Octave instead for all projects. Lectures are difficult to follow, I need to rewatch and often use Google to help understand. He invites questions though, and does care, but teaching not his forte. Weekly quizzes :(

Kassab teaches this course almost as if it were a graduate course. Almost exclusively conceptual based, however the tests are all practical. Don't bother taking notes, there's too much to write, and you're going to use other resources to study anyways. Use the formula sheets to know whats important on tests. Quizzes will make or break your grade.

When you first enter class with Dr. Kassab the material goes from 0 to 100 really quick and it will seem as if it is being given to you faster than you can process it. I promise it is a fairly easy class when you relax and take notes on your own rather than relying on the ones he provides. Be ready to code because all the lab projects are coding.

Only prof for this course so time the class wisely. Lecture was majority derivations of methods to do the same math when really you just needed the formula/when its used/what it does. Likes to get a smile here and there and wants people interested. Exams were straight forward, quizzes harder/grade killer, TA's helpful with code.

Dr. Kassab is a beloved legend at UCF, and other ratings dont reflect that. The grading criteria was clear, the webcourses was well organized, all of the content in his lectures directly translated to homework, quizzes, etc. Read the slides before lecture, he moves fast, but it's entirely doable. This is numerical methods, not "the MATLAB class".
