take notes and study them for the tests. there's only two tests and a final and presentation with a paper. dr. bailey is young and tries to make the material interesting, even when it's really not
Dr. Bailey is a very nice guy especially when you get to talk to him out of class. If you ask a question, he will answer it and try to get the class involved. In our class, we talked about many things that made the whole class talk with one another. His tests are somewhat easy. forget about the notes you wrote in class. Print all the powerpoints on
Dr. Baily was one of the best teachers ive had since starting school. He knows everything about the subject and actually tests you on what he teaches. Take his class and attend regularly and you will receive an A.
OMG... dude i hated this class... he is so boring and his notes are online so there is no point on going to class... lectures are long and he never really stays on topic... pick a different teacher
I'm going to say that he is an amazing professor. He will crack you up but beware of one of his famous line....take his class and see what question he ask all the time. Overall he is a great professor. I think going to his class is worth it, even if the notes are online
This was an easy class.. Lectures are online and test pretty much come strait from the powerpoint i would recomend him. He trys to get the class involved he gives quizzes but they are out of the yellow book so you can use ur book and do them before class... I would def take him again
one time in class i kept a tally of how many times he said, "does that make sense?" and at the end of class it was 27. good teacher tho
Dr. Baily is extremely helpful and makes the class interesting. He actually cares what the students think, which puts him above most professors i have had
This teacher held my attention every day in class. He is extremely helpful if you ever need to talk to him outside of class. Also he really does seem to care about making sure his students understand the material so don't ever be afraid to ask a question. Everything he goes over is online so you don't have to take notes in class, just listen.
The class was very interesting. Dr. Baily loves to get everyone involved in lecture, which is cool. His notes are online so you can focus on just listening in class. Quizzes are very easy, they all come from your workbook. Tests are pretty easy and mostly come from your online notes. Great teacher, loves what he does and is very knowledgeable!
He is a smart teacher. He gives very thorough notes, but i advise you to attend class every day. He assigns group work that is mandatory, quizzes that cant be taken if your absent, dnt give him a lame excuse for not being there he wont accept it. Review assignments are for your own benefit do them, understand them pass the test. He is helpful
He really knows what he is talking about, and tries to get the class involved. However, I am not a fan of politics and class was not only boring but he went until after class was over. I never expected to get a B in this class, and I hardly studied for tests. You don't have to take the final unless you are unhappy with your grade.
This class is pretty boring, he's very knowledgeable but I get the feeling he's related to the Clear Eye Dry Eye guy.
I don't understand what everyone else sees in him. He lectures on one slide for half an hour. He lets us out late from class. He does not have an SI. He drags on with his lecture whether the class understands the material or not. Total of 3 test grades (including final), plus some quizzes you hand in but never see again. Do NOT take him for 142.
He isn't that bad. Yes the class is boring, he talks on and on, and doesn't keep your interest. But he is very knowledgeable, and most of the material in the course is common sense. He gives quizzes out of the work book, but you can use the work book, so very easy, and the test are easy. Two easy test, and an optional final, i would recommend him.
I was unfortunate to be in Kennedy auditorium, where the lights were dim, and my teacher with a calming voice was talking about something extremely boring-the class practically encouraged me to sleep. Dr. Baily reminds me alot of Christian Slater. Mainly his voice and facial expressions. He posts reviews on the internet and his quizzes are easy.
He really lost me to boredom every class period even with note taking. The exams were pretty hard. The only thing i semi-enjoyed was the Camelot Simulation
Avoid taking his class...he is super boring and doesn't really make sense when he does the lecture. If you want any hope catching anything that he says make sure to print out the power point and do yellow book quizes before class. And the textbook he uses is horrible.
I took him for Maymester, he was pretty easy. Study jeopardy for test and do workbook quizes. just bring your laptop and work on something else, all nots are online.
I took him for Summer I and it was a fairly easy class. I would recommend taking him if you pay attention in class, it is almost impossible to fail if you actually listen and read the power points!
I recommend this teacher. He is extremely boring but he knows what he's talking about and likes hearing feedback from students. He never uses the book, just lectures from slides. You could pass the class without ever coming. This class was very easy and I took him for HONORS! Want and easy government class with a nice, but boring teacher, take him!
Very boring class. Not too hard, but studying is almost required to get a good grade.
Okay, so he pretty much is the most boring person ever. But thats alright I guess. Since he only reccomends you to come to class if your going to be interested. HA! Anyways just go and work on something else important. His notes are all online and his tests are pretty simple. You DO need to study though.
i liked him. i thought he was clear, his tests weren't that hard and he did what he could to help.
i didnt find him boring at all... maby the subject is boring but not him... he is hot in that geeky way... i loved him! very sweet and understanding if you miss an assignment. i would take him over and over again!
He is a sweet man & tries really hard, but probably the most boring professor I have ever had. I stopped going to class, except for test days, because I just could not stay awake. I made a 71, 78, & 76 on my tests and he still gave me an 80 avg for the class! Just go on test days & study the power points & you will be fine!
I did not find him interesting at all and sitting through his class was very difficult. He's not very good at staying on subject and will talk about the same thing for about thirty minutes sometimes. I do not recommend taking him.
He is highly in love with this topic and can sometimes speak on a totally different level than you but he is a good professor. Go to class. Study. Pay attention to what he points out in class.
He class can be very boring at times. He does tend to go off on a tangent very often. IF you study over the slideshows and do the review (reading the book is not necessary) and study the workbook, then you will do fine in this class. Also, don't be afraid to talk in his class. He likes it when you participate in discussions.
Very easy class & if you do the review and study the slides and workbook chapters then you should do well on the test. Only critique is that he talks waaaaaaay too much...even when class is over he's still teaching! lol he's cute though. ;)
He's understanding, engaging, and interesting.... Makes political science less boring. Easy A!
Loved this class, wish I could take him again.
Great class! Baily is and amazing teacher. Fairly heavy reading required. Take-home essay exams.
He talked a lot, but other than that he is a great teacher!
He talks a lot but he is a really good teacher. The test are straight from the powerpoints and he posts the powerpoints online so attendance is not a requirement. normally, attendance is extra credit. the review helps a lot and he always puts easy bonus questions on the test. he is very interested in the subject and He is a great teacher overall!
He didn't hold my interest very well. As soon as I figured out the PowerPoints were online, I stopped showing up. There are a few daily grades on the syllabus, but he never really takes them up. The class was pretty easy. I hardly went and I got a high B, even though there are a lot of people who failed. Just study the PPs.
Very boring but he puts ALL notes and test reviews on the internet before classes even start. I went to class about half the time and still pulled a B+. Never use the textbook but you will use the workbook.
He knows what hes talking about but is kinda boring. He can be kinda funny when he wants to, too. and all his tests are straight from the powerpoints. I never used my textbook but you do need the workbook because he picks up the quizzes, but he posts the answer keys online ahead of time so you could do them before class. Overall good professor!
He is a good professor. He is good at helping you during office hours. He acceots late work. Textbook isnt needed and neither is the work book. His test are kind of hard so go to SI, he is also boring in class. All of his slides and review are online before you need them, so you dont always have to go to class.
He definitely knows what he is talking about. He is interesting and his tests aren't that hard if you do the reviews. The SI leader is great too so SIs help. He also gives out an extra credit assignment at the end of the semester. I rarely used the textbook, only for definitions. Powerpoint slides are enough to study. I would take him again.
Just do the exam reviews and workbook quizes
I absolutely love his class. He's super laid back but he definitely knows what he's talking about. I've been extremely impressed with the quality of his lectures. And it doesn't hurt that he's kinda hot haha! He doesn't care if you text or do homework during class, and I've never seen him take attendance. I highly recommend him, love his class.
His tests are tough. He's very smart and knows what he is talking about but he also expects you to know. His lectures are long and boring and all of his PP are online. I never liked anything to do with govhistory and he made it worse.
He is opinionated, and he will say things (passively) regarding his own opinions. However, though I didn't agree with him, the class was easy...I do like politics though. Go to class, and study, and you should do fine. And though I like politics, his lectures are kinda boring. BUT, he does offer a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester.
We only had 3 exams and the final exam was optional, but you must study for them. Also, go to the SI. You also had to do the quizzes in the workbook you need for class.
If you're a republican, the lectures are rather annoying to sit through. not much homework, very smart guy, not many tests--- but it is very clear he is a democrat. enough said!!
Dr. Baily is very knowledgeable. I took him for 141 and have taken several upper levels with him. He is very helpful. His 141 tests are multiple choice, but his upper levels are all papers (no official tests)which I like better. He notices who attends. I have learned a lot from him! Great for people interested in philosophy, history, &/or poli sci!
For me personally the class was boring. I just don't like politics, but if you enjoy politics than you'll enjoy his take on things. Test were a little tough but if you put in time to study and do the review you will pass. Also final examine is optional! So you have to make sure you keep up with your grades
Very smart prof, but his lectures tend to be long and boring. It was really hard for me to pay attention in this class. If you skip class, most of his notes are online but he elaborates a lot in his lecture that isn't on his online power points, which is still included on the tests. Although the tests are multiple choice, I found them pretty hard.
Dr Baily is very smart but, often rambles so it is difficult to pay attention and keep up with writing notes because you don't know what to write down. SI is very helpful, and go into his office hours and you can look over the test and what you missed and ask questions. Final is optional.
Dr. Baily is a really smart man, but he's not the best at teaching. It is pure lecture and you have to know what's in the textbook, workbook and the powerpoints in class. If you do take him I recommend going to SI. SI really helps with his class. Final is optional.
I feel beyond lucky to have gotten Dr. Bailey as my professor for poli sci. Though some call his lectures tangents, to me they're helpful and engaging. Unlike many psc profs at SFA, I can't tell what political party he's associated with. He's a very logical thinker and has great intentions as an educator. Tests are easy if you do the review.
he's very impersonal, but knows his stuff; i tried to have a convo with him the first day and basically blew me off. tests can be difficult if you dont do the reviews, but most of the info comes from the powerpoint slides anyways, so just take solid notes. rambles, but has a dry sense of humor which is okay.
Personally, I have no interest in this subject so this class was SUPER boring. He gets off topic a lot so it was hard to understand what was important and what wasn't. All notes are online. His tests are STUPID HARD. Do the workbook and reviews, that's how I got my extra points.
The professor was bland and didn't seem to care about the class. I felt kinda like he had something else to do and was just trying to get through it as fast as possible. The test is crazy hard for no reason. He makes you do turn in extra work like homework and test reviews but doesn't grade them.
If you take this class, you'll have 3 tests, homework, 1 extra credit assignment, and an optional final. It is lecture based, and he posts the powerpoints online, but if you don't go to class, you won't understand a lot of the material. He talks and rambles a lot, so if you lose focus easily, don't take his class.
Excellent guy who really knows his stuff. He's lecture heavy, so if your attention span is short, don't risk it. The class requires one textbook and one workbook, but there are cheaper alternatives. There's only three tests and an optional final. Unless you know your stuff, I wouldn't recommend skipping.
Dr. Baily is actually a really kind and funny guy, yet with a strong monotone during lectures. He lets the class overtake the class and lead him down pointless tangents. Only small portions of the book and slides are on the test while the rest is verbatim what he talks about in class. Personally, test preparation is the most confusing part for me.
Dr Baily is a nice guy, however his tests are WAY too hard! The study guides are pretty much useless for the tests! Every single class is a powerpoint slide and he isn't very engaging. If you have problems with paying attention, this is not the professor for you.
Dr. Baily is one of my least favorite professors from this semester. He knows his stuff, but he is so bad at making his information match the slides or textbook. Also, it is a literal hell when it comes to studying. The reviews are NOT helpful. His tests are unnecessarily hard. If you don't want to listen 100% of the time, you will struggle a lot.
Dr. Baily is a chill dude. However, his class was one of the worst decisions I've made in college. The only grades you get in class are from papers, but he never says what he wants and penalizes you for it anyway. The only criteria he gives is that" it must be over the readings." The only way to get a good grade is to be one of his favorites.
Although political science has never been my best subject, Dr. Baily did not make it any easier. It probably didnt help that I had his class at 9:30 in the morning, however, his class is strictly lecture based and had I known that I would be sitting there for over an hour attempting to listen, I would have chosen a different time or professor.
Do not take this man. He is not a good professor you will hate his classes they are so boring and you get absolutely nothing out of them. He doesn't help when you ask and will make you feel stupid if you ask any kind of question. I have taken him twice and hated each experience. I've never been so bored in a class, it is not worth it.
You going to need to be in the ta class and study over the PowerPoint test I really hard. Cool guy but you will fall asleep he rambles and just lecture the whole time if you not good with lecture do take it because you will fail
Very difficult class. And it really didn't help that I was in the honors section. He seems very indifferent towards his students and he rambles all class period long. Will put you to sleep. Tests are extremely hard, even during COVID season when they were online because he'd only give 50 min even tho he lectures for 75 min. I literally had to drop.
Great professor! lectures are a bit boring, but it's gov. No assignments, only graded test reviews as well as tests and then one final group project. The project is simple, and he grades very fairly. Definitely take his class if you can, minimally stressful!
Took fed gov online. First the tests are ridiculous. Theres 50 questions that you have to complete in 50 mins. That doesnt sound so bad but theyre long problems that took me close to a minute to read them and barely understand them, much less try to figure out the answer. Also he doesnt seem to care about any hardships, at all... terrible
Somewhat updates grades but does them the last week and does not grade everything. Does not show up for office hours. Does not respond to emails. Yes, there is a textbook; however, he does not give you an access code (waste of money and time). Laidback professor, and posts on weekends.
Where should I start. First of all, he is extremely monotone and nothing he says makes any sense. Dont expect him to answer any questions or emails you send him. For example the whole class was confused and asked a question and he answered the question through philosophical nonsense that didnt answer the question. cont
Professor Baily is a good professor. He loves what he's doing. The lectures can get a little bit boring for those who don't like government, but he knows how to explain things. I personally found the textbook very helpful because if I miss things in class, I can find them there. He also has extra credit assignments and his exams are MCQ + bonus.
He talks a lot about anything besides the material. Only has 3 grades in his class, and they are all exams so if you fail one exam you have a lot to make up for. He post lectures online so it's okay to miss every now and then if you need it.
This class is very boring, and not because of the lecture material. Dr. Baily is a very nice man; he does his best to crack some jokes and tries to make students laugh. However, he gets derailed off the material constantly, and the exams often cover way too many specific materials he doesn't go over.
Despite the other criticisms on here, Professor Baily is amazing at his job so long as you are actually willing to engage with the topics he is discussing. Many students that complain about class being hard are on their phones during the entire lecture, if they've even bothered to show up. Put forth some basic effort and this class is an easy A.
I showed up 90% of the time and didn't have the textbook. Do the exam reviews since they are a grade and they do help you out. There are three exams and an optional final. The final doesn't hurt you if it's your lowest exam score. He super accommodating as long as you communicate with him. He's super chill. Show up and take notes and you'll be fine
Dr. Baily has good lecture slides however he gets off topic very easily and stays off topic for most of the class so when it comes time for the exam there are many questions on there partaining to things that we didn't have time to cover in class. His class is very test heavy, there is only 3 exams and the final is optional.
This was a pretty easy online class. Grade consisted of 3 exams and 3 discussion posts, this class is mostly just teaching yourself the material. There is a textbook but I never used it and just looked up the material online. Easy class as long as you learn the information for the exams.
Very straightforward with clear expectations. Nice variety regarding content in discussion prompts. I have learned a lot in this class through use of both the modules and the text. I recommend taking good notes throughout the weekly modules, as this really helps for retaining the information and prepares you well for the tests.
The class will begin lecture-heavy. Before the first day, you should read some material to prepare for a full lecture. Students don't have to worry about completing assignments or homework. You should study and keep up with the material for each exam date. There are three mandatory exams for the semester and one optional final.
Dr.Baliey got off-topic often and never really reached he is just a yapper
Unfortunately I had to drop this class. He only has three grades and they're just the tests. He talks a lot and most of it isn't on topic, so be prepared to google most of the answers on the reviews. Even on the exams there are questions he hadn't talked about. He's a really sweet guy, but his teaching isn't very good.
Couldn't give him a zero so I give him a 1 if you want a teacher who doesn't care about your grade and only his pay check then go ahead and choose his class. He has a blatant disregard for your grade in his class. Some may say it was my fault I had the grade I had but I've never gone below an A. If you still choose to take his class good luck!
This was one of the worst teachers I've ever had; he doesn't care at all for students' grades and only cares about his paycheck. Literally one of the worst teachers I've ever had, not to mention there are only three grades that make up the class. If you want to fail government, take this class. Otherwise, never take him!
