Great teacher. Makes learning history fun and exciting.

I thought he was very helpful & insightful. I learned a lot of things that I didn't catch in high school. Good professor. Made an A

Great stories!
this is the best professor I have ever had in college he is very helpful and extends all of his assignments to help you make the best grades possible
great fun.....
Very rude and unwilling to help. Yet criticizes people for what they haven't already learned by now. The worst instructor I have ever had! DO NOT RECCOMMEND!!!
I took his class online and he was the worst teacher that I have had. He acted like the class was a big inconvenience and. When you ask for help he gives a smart ass response. Some of the test questions weren't in the book and he just said it was stuff that you should already know.
I cannot say enough about Prof. Ball. He is a wonderful Professor with great assignments. He is extreamly helpful and his classes are fun and exciting. He is extreamly funny and informative. I would suggest his class to anyone!!!!!
LIKES TO BELITTLE AND EMBARRASS PEOPLE-CHANGES ASSIGNMENTS W/OUT NOTICE,
Great fun, tough but fair, helpful study guides and practice exams too, interesting assignments...wants students to love history and learn.
Agree with previous ratings. Took class online and got the impression that the whole thing was a big inconvenience for him. We used the brief version of the book, but he made the tests up from the full version of the text so there were questions on there not found in the book (and yes, he expected you to already know it). Do not recommend at all!!!

The prof. did nothing to stop academis dishonesty slandering. You have ridiculously hard tests that consist of 65 questions that just bounce around the chapters being covered. We did have practice exams, that consisted of 180 queestions that also bounced around the chapters and no way of knowing really what to study. I need more room.
Online class was terrible. Lessons? What lessons? I didn't learn anything. Ridiculously hard practice exams that consisted of 180 m/c and exam was only 65 questions. Grading ideas were different. Enjoyed lots of debate and arguements. no teaching style at all. Would not recommend to anyone, not even mother-in-law.
terrific
good Prof..tough by helpful....understanding of computer problems...helped me out of jam
Wouldn't recommend.
I took this class online and made a "c". History is not my fav subject to begin with but I felt it was hard at times to get answers out of this Prof. He sometimes would dance around them or not answer at all. When there was a direct answer I felt like I was being talked down to like I was a stupid idiot. Overall if you like Hsty you might enjoy
bothered to be teaching, never answers email, lets slander take place on discussion board, ridiculously idiotic tests and practice exams, although he says we should be grateful for the practice exams they dont help w/crap because everything is ridiculously hard-if noone takes his class maybe he'll go away :-)
Fan-freaking-tastic professor. Really wants you to LEARN SOMTHING. Compleatly cool, great professor!!
Took this class online, VERY HARD. Too many discussions and tests were impossible. He insults studnts' opinions. Writing assignments were stupid. Don't recommend him at all!
Awesome teacher, took his class online and scored a B. I actually learned much about history in our country.
This guy does not teach you anything. He expects you to teach yourself. He also refuses to answer your questions. He also is a big fan of "busy work". He makes you write at least 6, 3 to 4 page essays. I guess he tries to keep you busy so you won't notice that he's not doing his job. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! I dropped after the first 2 weeks.
Class online, he's unhelpful, and insults students. I did get an A, but it was only because I did ALL of my work and turned it in on time. The tests are okay..since I could use my book and my dad, but the questions asked are not very relevant to what is going on. If he wouldnt get crap from everyone, he would ask what color shoes he has on. JERK
Whenever a student asks a question, he is sarcastic and rude--sometimes he'll actually answer that question after he's made you feel dumb for asking. He should be ever so popular for his statements on several occasions of looking for the nerest 'ivory tower to jump from' when a student asks a mere question that he feels is ridiculous.
I wouldn't even recommend this prof to my bro-in-law, who I can't stand. Online class is nothing but essays and M/C tests with minute little questions that has nothing to do with the lesson. Very fascious, rude, and belittling. God forbid you have a life outside of that online class or you're screwed for the semester.
I thought this was a history class, not a forum for bashing the government. If I didn't have to have this class, I would drop it in a heartbeat. The previous poster is right, he is rude if you even try to get a clarification on his vague instructions.
I don't know how this guy keeps his job. He is the most worthless excuse for a teacher I've ever seen. Don't ever expect help from him. He will just make fun of you.
This is one of the sorriest excuse's for a "professor" that exist in todays realm of Higher Education. This man is nothing more than a former high school nerd who must have been picked on alot and now he enjoys turning the tables. He is sarcastic, rude and an embarassment to the college. Administration needs to fire this "man".
The class is definitely very hard. I never experienced sarcasm as did others, but for some reason, it is extremely boring. Exams are almost impossible even after studying for 3 days. It seems that this class online was simply "thrown" together for the sake of having an online class and that he doesn't enjoy online teaching.
Absolutely worthless. Does not return emails, test material is not taught or found in the book. This guy marvels at being a complete @**. He will probably read this and frame it. If you value your GPA, and would actually like to learn from what you are paying for- stay away from this adjunct. If he is the only available instructor- Transfer!
His tests are hard to get an A. He lectures and leave the class. I don't have any problem with him. I just kept my mouth shut and roll by the class with an A. All you people are not at a college level yet and you all need to have a nice glass of stfu.
Taking his class online. I have trie to contact him though em-ails and phone calls, but he never returns. He has not provided any assistace. he e-mails class daily letting us know that this best student last semester made only a 72%, and the average grade was a 65%.
Sucks! Tells you to be "specific" but is the most ambiguous being I've ever met and extremely belittling if "bothered" with a question! Can't stand him! Wants you to know EVERYTHING. Inferative questions on tests. 54-page-long exam review that was actually an outline of the chapters on the test, and that was only the midterm! Good riddance.
Took him online, super freaking hard, like others say. Actually, pretty much everything I've read on here about him is true.Made a C- on his first test.People, I never made a C on a test in my life. Definitely comes off as a crotchety old *****. Seemed to hate his job.Studied my butt off and pulled a B in the class (barely). Avoid like the plague.
Wow, something is wrong with this man. He demonstrated some form of racism. He not passionate on teaching History. He gives boring facts and he is so boring man. He seems like like he is angry at life; therefore, he decided to inflict his boredom anger on his students. Obviously, he knows that he is an prick, so he just continued to act like it.
The was THE worst teacher EVER! He's extremely hard, but not even very fair. He's a real prick and a disgrace to the school!
EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!!! He is not clear in the slightest & hardly replies to e-mails. I struggled to pull off my B (89%). His study guides are useless and he tests mostly on things NOT found in the text book. I love history yet HATED this class!!! I took History Civil War to Present, some say the other is easier. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR ONLINE!!!
Worst professor ever!! Ive never dropped a class untill dealing with this jerk. Hes old and mean. Be prepared to read 9 chapters from 2 diff books to take the first test. You will also need to read two more chapters to do the disscusion. Also dont email q's if you dont want an answer that will make you want to pull your hair out......
Unbelievable, this guy...takes a valid question from the book and rewords it into an unintelligible mess that has multiple possible answers. Clearly does not want students to do well in his class. Most vague and ambiguous tests I personally have ever taken...find another professor! Seriously!
i have never had to drop a class before but did as soon as i saw his first test. complete nonsense, 50 q's, 50 min, impossible. test questions are so ridiculous even with hours of studying it was impossible to finish or understand. best advice, stay away from this one. his ratings are horrible at rose state too!
This class was really hard. Professor Ball is not a good professor.Way to much work way to hard and his test were crazy impossible to pass. When I asked if there is any thing extra i can study to help me get a better grade on my tests he gave my nothing but unhelpful information. Dont take him if you want to pass history.I wish ilooked him up first
This was an online history class, civil war to present. He was not helpful or clear. He didn't remind you of upcoming tasks, like the other online professors did.
He is a hard professor to take this class under because he does not give reviews for the tests but if you actually spend time studying, then you will do good on the tests. Make sure to realize his grading system is different then other professors!
I studied hard on all of his tests reading each chapter doing all the study tools he recommended and still could not make above a C. I even had a friend who made the highest test score in AP history take one of my tests after I got it back. He was baffled by the questions and was surprised by how poorly the test was set up. Do not take this class.
This was a challenging online class. History is my subject, but the tests are all online and open book...with lots of chances to get a grade because of all the bonus points. I feel that Mr. Ball went out of his way to help, He even opened an exam earlier so that I could take the test and go on vacation with my family.
I've had worse!
Very easy online class. Mr. Ball provides optional extra credit and if you actually read the book you will get an A. He is a very kind teacher and responds quickly to emails.
This is my second time taking this class. The first time was last semester online but I totally underestimated how hard it would be. I was failing so I dropped the class. I was better prepared this time and got a B. He gave us the option to get 65 extra points and he provides a review as well. If you do the review, study, and do ec pts,you will pass
open book exams and study guides
I have had harder classes!
I'm not sure why others are saying his online class is hard... There are ten question quizzes maybe once a week, if that, and you have an hour to take them. I take it online so I use my book, his power points, and the internet. He only takes like the top 10 of your quizzes and a majority of the test questions are replicas of quizzes.
Great Course! HAD LOTS OF QUIZZES AND EASY EXAMS, IF YOU DID THE QUIZZES.
I overestimated the necessity of reading the chapters I thought I could skim it and be good, Don't do that. The material isn't too bad to read about&learn. When I misread the calendar for an assignment that closed, I emailed him&he opened it w/ two tries&a good luck. Do your work, read and you'll pass. Fair & good professor w/ extra credit
Pretty good professor, doesn't make you respond to other students ridiculous board postings (online), and seems to choose topics that make the class actually contribute rather than just giving the easiest answer. Feedback is good, I feel like he gives grades on effort, which is nice.
This class was literally so easy with Professor Ball. He is very clear on what he expects from you. You have to read the material to pass unless you're some kind of history know-it-all. The quizzes are open book and he gives you an hour to complete them. The exams were pretty easy too if you did well on the quizzes.
Super easy class... Quizzes each week with 10 questions. Plenty of time to take them and open book. Other than that, just post one post per week and two replies on the message board, each with 250 characters, and you are good.
I really enjoyed taking this course from Professor Ball. I felt like the workload and grading were very fair. He often provides current event articles that tie in to the topics we are covering in class and you can tell he is passionate about history.
I don't know why he has so many bad reviews, prof. ball was a delight to work with. He is a history nerd, and a photographer. Very approachable, communicative and laid back. The discussion forum is like easily 50% of your grade. Quizzes were very simple, usually 10 questions and 50 mins to do. Exams are open book as well.
I first thought Professor Ball was going to be a difficult class to take because of the amount links he post on each assignment page, although it's confusing I understood why he put all those links, but I then realized that it was an easy class. As long as you participate you are good. He is also very good at responding to emails on a daily basis.
Professor Ball was a very nice professor & his amounts of homework are pretty normal. I took a summer class so it was 2x the work, but I did fine, & it was my first college class. He grades fairly & tells you exactly what he wants. Meet the requirements & know what you are talking about & you will be fine!
Responds to emails. Clear instructions. Do all the assignments and youll get an A. If youre unorganized and miss due dates then its your fault if you dont receive an A. This class gives you plenty of time to complete all assignments. Hes a great professor, definitely recommend taking this professor for this class.
He is super easy! The ratings say it all. I had a A + and he told us if we had reached a certain amount of points we didnt have to take the essay final. (However, if we wanted to we could). He is pretty laid back and loves history.
Loved this class! Just read the materials and you will ace this class!
Professor Ball is wonderful at communicating with the students. We had a terrible snowstorm during my class, and he extended the deadlines for all work so we could worry about staying safe instead of our class. He's a great professor and fair with expectations and grading. Definitely take his online class if you can.
For an 8 week class the class was great! The professor was nice and fast at responding! It is a lot of reading with essays and discussion post but thats really it! Definitely recommend!
Pretty easy class, simply do the work and you'll pass. Lots of reading 2 discussion every week, 3 multiple choice exams with essay portions, 2 projects. Can come off as passive aggressive but all in all it was an easy class.
I enjoyed this class set up and Professor Ball's lectures he sent through emails. He provided the best resources produce discussions and replies. I was motivated because the material presentation was so interesting. I loved the online set up, Prof. Ball's ease of presenting material calmly and consistently, and his quick grading of assignments
Compared to other professors, his class was so easy. I heard post-civil war was easier than pre-civil-war but Professor Ball made the class easy. Everything had a set due date, word limits for his class were generally low, the highest one was 500 words and that was barely 2 or 3 pages. I got 100s on everything except tests. He's very laid back.
Really nice guy and very understanding if you communicate with him. The only downside in my opinion was all of the work was discussion posts but nothing too bad. Overall easy class
I had open heart surgery two weeks before the end of class. I worked ahead up until the surgery date, then only had to submit my final essay when I got home. Read the material and apply it. If you don't pass this class, it is not Prof. Ball's fault.
He assigns a lot of reading, but you can get by with reading only a few of the sources. Make sure to read the textbook pages assigned though! Not a hard class. I forgot about an exam once and emailed him about it, and he let me take it that day. Super nice guy. Just do the work and you'll be fine.
A lot of peer reviewing but all of the assignments were unique and fun.
esta bien
In this class you're gonna have about 8 discussion posts, a google slide presentation, and 3 exams. The discussion posts are very quick and easy, it takes maybe two hours to do a full weeks worth of work. Look up the exam answers on google, online textbook is completely useless. He also lets you review movies for extra credit, but you wont need it
I had him for an online course. Liked his class & how he graded. Never had a problem with him. Easy course for the most part.
Professor Ball is a grade A teacher, meaning he'll help you get an A if you really want it. Everything is laid out pretty well, you just have to do the work or do the extra credit to make up for it. He seems to understand and enjoy what he teaches which is always helpful when dealing with professors.
Awesome class!! Does require a lot of reading especially for the discussions, but if you just do the work, you will succeed. He is pretty lenient and fair. Responds back very quickly and will answer any questions you have. Caring and respectful, very helpful if needed. He enjoys what he teaches and wants you to enjoy it as well! Great professor!
Professor Ball is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject he teaches. Just make sure to really look at the instructions clearly for each assignment and please use ALL the resources that he provides or suggests.
It's been a long time. I took this professor in Spring 2022, and he was a pretty chill and respected professor, assignments were long, but I learned a lot in the 8-week online course.
This was a really easy course, I put in about three hours a week and finished a week early too. He will give feedback on the essay and if you make corrections to what he said it will definitely help bump your grade up. I even looked for him for my other history class, I loved him so much.
I really enjoyed this class, if you read and work hard he is very understanding. I had a family emergency at the end so my quality of work suffered a little. I let him know and he was understanding.
He is a very sweet professor, very fast with responses, and lets you redo your homework! I loved his weekly update videos his class was pretty easy and I wish more professors were like him.
cool dude he was nice he taught well
