explains concepts very clearly, and is funny during class. I recommend this class.
Good prof. Explains in great detail.
I love his powerpoint presentations=)
easy class, easy A. i loved prof. belowich b/c he was funny in class and he made things easy to understand. if you understand the concepts, you ace the exams.
Cool teacher. Easy class!!!
i absolutely hated this course. His notes never corrolated with what was on the tests. And they were really boring classes!
He's a real good teacher and it was an interesting class. You do have to do work. The TA's suck! They rarely speak english or smell good. I would recommend taking the class.
belowich is downright hot. he's also laid back and easy to understand, take this course with him.
i went to all his classes and i didn't see any examples of humor that the other raters talked about. lectures were boring and pointless his powerpoint presentations were word for word from the book.
Decent guy, but it's not really worth going to class.
terrible!!! it is unnecessary to go to class b/c he rushes thru unexplained power point presentations. He is unnecessary. The TA's do all the important work for the class so just attend recitations!
Easy class, but it would have been better if the notes were online. He goes through the slides too fast. Don't bother going to class, it's really boring. The material is easy though.
Belowich is the biggest ****prof i've ever come across. the mic broke in class today and he continued lecturing when we were trying to tell him to stop. he knows nothing also, he only relies on power pt presentations to give lectures. he's a hottie tho
Belowich is downright hot. He lacks good teaching skills, and his TA, Ramya Balasubramanian, can't speak English. It's a pain to go to his class but he def is an attractive middle aged man. i'd jump his bone anytime.

belowich is downright hot. he's also laid back and easy to understand, take this course with him. he'll help you at any time.
Me and my friends were just talking about how cute he is!!haha..can't believe there are people out there who think the same. well-we havent had any tests yet and the only 2 we have in the class are midterm and final and they have a lot of info and programming on them. good luck
I'm about to take this class, sounds great hopefully it is, im pretty good with computers as well
Belowich is the best CS instructor in the dept. Aside from his easy going personality and his "user friendly" lectures, the material isn't that bad. Plus he programs in class..many others don't even do that. Take him he's hot

the class is easy even though the final is a bit tricky. he's not the sharpest crayon in the box though.
His class is VERY easy because he makes the material easy. Take his class!
Class was very easy. The guy was kind of a jerk though. He threatened to "take away" cell phones from us if they went off in class.
mmmm MMMM!! delicious! and easy
This class is awful!!! Pretty much everyone takes it to fill their requirement and its soo boring and tedious. His lectures are boring and dont make sense. He's a nice guy but the content of the class is just so boring.
Nice guy, but the material is really boring and easy. Very helpful in class, and actually cares about how students are doing. Will respond to all questions, even in a big lecture. Class gets tedious if you know ANYTHING about computers, but if you need this class, take it with this guy.
i didn't find this class easy since I'm not good with computers. There're so much hws!I spend so much time writing all those programs on Basic. Professor Belowish is really kind and helpful though. He will answer any the question you have. The midterm was hard, it covered so much materials from the technology book.I studied a lot and barely got an A
This class was not easy, but you did not need to know about computers to do well in this class. The class consisted of a midterm, final, and basic programs. The prof was a good teacher, helpful and easy to talk to. If you have to take this class I would take this class with belowich.
Extremely hard!!! you should be a computer programmer in this class. Textbook is completely trash..You cannot study because of this trash..anyways Belowich is nice and helpful guy..but!! exams are toooo hard
This guy was a second stringer, and finally got his chance to start and showed his true colors. There's a reason why he was second string, he cant teach javascript. Thats funny, isnt over half the class java? Congradulations, you can make a spread and your "proficient" at it. Did you know Microsoft actually has a atest for that? Just ask belo.
He replaced Schwartz, who missed half of classes! The class did not know anything! The second Javascropt exam- he made so many mistakes that the TA's took about 20 min just explaining the directions. Final - hardly covered any material from class and was rediculous, he robbed me of my A!!!
i liked da prof he was nice n very helpful in all my problems however TA was horrible and a serious idiot. culdnt speak much english hard to undastand what da TA was explaining but prof. was nice class is NOT easy not a peice of a cake u gotta learn da programs in JT book first exam not that hard second exam all bout programmin got a B not 2 great
STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS IF YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE IT! SHWARTZ GAVE A VERY EASY FIRST EXAM, THEN THIS ASS CAME AND MADE THE TEST RIDICULOUSLY HARD...EVERYWEEK THERES AN ONLINE ASSIGNMENT LIKE TO MAKE A PROGRAM, ITS THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE ASS, I GOT A C+ IN THE CLASS AND ITS THE WORST YOULL REGRET TAKING IT.
i worked a lot for this class..but got a c+. it's not how much work you put into it. there's a huge program due each week that takes a few hours. it's mostly about programming. gotta read the books. the final was a killer if you weren't proficient in programming. ta's are not good help. strict h.w. policies.
He makes this class easy. Take this class if you're not that good with computers and need to fulfill a math requirement. A lot of assignments though. Classes are predictable, powerpoint everytime.
Lectures were dry and boring, straight from powerpoint. He took attendance, but no other compsci profs do. Assignments due every week are a total pain. First exam was simple, second was sooo much worse. The class is just tedious and boring, and a waste of time...but it's not impossible to get an A if you do all the work, B isn't too hard to get.
Taking class now. Basic programs are very easy if you go to recitation, most people make a's and B's in this class. Lectures are sooooo slow. Tip:got to recitation, and bug your TA for help, dont bother with lectures. Dont buy Tech book either,Just JT. use tech books website to get an A on midterm. Final is all Programming!!!
umm TRUE BASIC is boring as****!! and the assignments that are given are worthless and not helpful in anyway...DONT TAKE THIS CLASS...if you do hint: Lectures are pointless, DONT just go to recitation... and you only need JT's book. BETTER IDEA try and take something else, like great insight on computers... thats an easy one! Belowich is a creep
Overall a pretty good class. I had no interest in taking this but it proved to be alright. There is a decent amount of work, but it's never too hard- just a little time consuming. I definitely wouldn't recommend this class as an elective, but Belowich is a likable guy and everything about the class is bearable. I got an A.
easy class, good lectures, very helpful, LOTS of extra credit
Do the sakai assignments, which may be kind of time consuming but overall are pretty easy, and you'll do fine. midterm and final exams are mostly MC, matching, and writing out programs. as long as you to go lecture and recitation and pay attention somewhat, you'll probably get an A.
good teacher, doesn't give the lectures beforehand but if you know the basics of what the internet is, office applications and other basic computer skills, this class isn't really hard at all...even the programming isn't bad
When I had him I thought Belowich was okay. But I failed the class and had to take it over again. I had JT the second time around and he was amazing. Finally someone who knew how to explain the material. I got a B. I now realize belowich sucked. If you take this course, absolutely take JT.
We worked on obsolete software and programming languages. Belowich is a bit pompous and is horribly uncompromising and its to his detriment as a professor. Avoid. Take Jt if possible.
Easy class, nice guy, very helpful. The course itself is pointless because it's really easy. However, the programming language, TrueBASIC, is obsolete and pointless, but that's not his choice, obviously. The lectures are the same thing over and over again, but it's not unbearable like other professors. Like I said, seems like a good guy.
He's a very nice guy. Lectures can be boring, but they're easy enough to follow and he does his best to keep you interested. Like previous commenters said, TrueBASIC is obsolete and pointless, but it's easy to learn. The class is not at all difficult. If you have a solid grasp of computers, you probably don't even have to go to classes. I did JIC.
If you dont have a real grasp of progamming i dont reccomend and you should probably take JT, but Belowich is still pretty good considering. Overall, I think the book teaches you.
Pretty average professor. Very unaccommodating. Class starts off easy, then after add/drop period ends, it becomes very difficult. Confusing course taught on obsolete software. TA's don't speak english. A lot of assignments that are time consuming. Exams are on paper, rather than computers. 3X a week which is annoying. Avoid this class!
Belowich is a great professor, his tests are exactly on the material presented in lecture, and his assignments. all his assignments are on the web, just uploading documents that your TA teaches you piece by piece in lecture Great GPA boosting class. ignore all prev comments about TrueBASIC because they've switch to Scratch software, which is better
had him for comp apps. he's a nice teacher. ... sometimes teaches a lot of material not everything is on the test. gives study guilds .. know those inside and out and you'll get an a.
His lectures are so boring. The software they used is obsolete so the class is kind of pointless. TAs dont speak English and Belowich is unclear and not helpful if you email him. Exams are very difficult. It was way too much work for such a low level class.
His class is pointless to go to. I learned more from my TA then, in lecture class. Exams are hard and long, and nothing like he says its gonna be.
Professor is not helpful at all, very inconsiderate, and sometimes has an attitude when you ask him questions! If you can take someone else!
Had him for intro to comp app.; the class itself is easy, so not sure if my grading will matter for those who are taker harder courses with him. He's sweet and seems to be really interested in what he's teaching. He's always optimistic even though class participation is horrible. Go to lecture to write down his slides and recit. for attendance
Did you guys take the same class? Here's the deal: Pleasant guy, class can hold your attention but you don't need to go. Textbook also unnecessary. Mandatory assignments due each Friday teach you what you need for the exam, and he gives a full study guide with questions exactly like ones on the exams, harder even. Recitation helps plenty. EC too.
Terrible, just plain terrible. Lectures are super dry, ultra boring, exams are exceedingly difficult (much harder than the mandatory hw assignments), study guides are ridiculously long, attendance is not mandatory and TA's are hit or miss. Even if you manage to pass this class with a good grade, you future life will barely benefit from it. Avoid.
Very nice and patient. The course load is not too demanding, but sometimes it can be very hard to pay attention to him and the material.
Professor Belowich is a nice guy, but I didn't feel that covered all the material that was on the exam. The 2 hourly exams and the 3 hour final are not made up by him. It is a department exam taken with all the other CS110 students. As long as you do/memorize all the study guides Prof Trees (head of CS department) posts on Sakai, you will do fine.
easy class, but a lot of work. he gives study guides for tests, but half of the material is not covered in class (making lectures a waste of time) expect to spend min of 5 hr/week on programming assignments. 2 exams 1 final (higher grade overrides, which makes getting a good grade easy) if you're willing to put in the work/TIME- easy A. kp
He is a good prof. for those who wants to learn bsics of Computer. Explains everything that he think we didn't understand.Requires lot of assign. but those r worth it as most questions come conceptual to see weather u understand or not. talk him after class if u don't understand he surely helps.
Lectures with Belowich aren't necessary, though he is helpful and informative. Recitations matter and take attendance and is where the assignments are given and taught. Hated my TA. Take the class with friends and you should be fine doing the work together. Exams are alright nothing pain-staking.
Nice guy with cheesy jokes. His class is a little dry but the material isn't awful.
Lectures are really boring and useless; you should probably, however, go to recitation (although it is possible you might not even have to do that with how easy this course is). Study the study guides Prof. Trees posts online and you will get an A. Mind-numbing class; if you are not patient look in another direction. Might not be worth the easy A.
Lecture was very entertaining. If you skip one or two lectures that's fine as long as someone got your back with notes or slide pics. But if you miss one it won't kill you. No textbooks needed and if you're good with computers, this is an easy class.
Pretty good guy. Not the most well versed in his area, but can teach material for the test. The recitation was boring and a pretty good amount of work but easy. I went to class most days and it was an easy A. If you don't go to class you can probably still do very well.
He's good at his job for the most part, if you pay attention you'll understand everything. First exam has a lot of material but its basically terms. Second exam is all programming. DO ALL PROGRAMMING ASSIGNMENTS AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND IT. It builds upon itself. If you slack with the programming you will be lost from that point on.
Loved him! He made the class pretty interesting given the materials taught. Study the study guides for the exams and you'll pass with flying colors. There are extra credit and makeup opportunities too.
After the first exam the lectures were pretty pointless because it went over the same material as recitation. Great professor, provides lots of study guides and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Easy A if you do the assignments (which aren't too difficult) and know the terms on the study guides.
I almost never went to class but I got an A easily. Take this class if you need a Computer Science course but aren't a CS major.
Hes a good guy with good well organized and well thought out lectures. Recitation teacher AJ is a really nice guy as well who gives homework every week but if you pay attention in class youll pass this class with an A or at least B+.
It may have been because I kind of already knew the material, but I did not have to attend lecture. Recitation alone with AJ was enough for me to get As on all three exams. Just make sure you do the assignments weekly, and watch out for the quizzes online!
Lectures are very useful for the first exam in terms of vocabulary, but pay attention to programming lectures and recitations as they will appear on most exams. Professor Belowich makes lectures pretty interesting and tries to have students participate in creative ways. The study guides made by him are helpful when studying for the final.
it may be because I took a similar course in high school, but the work itself came very naturally to me. homework makes up a lot of the grade, but is clearly defined and relatively easy imo. I went to about 50% of the classes and never felt lost. Also, there is a grading policy that is very forgiving: you can essentially retake exams via final.
Tons of hw and extra credit. Lectures are fun but you don't always need to go. Grade completely depends on your TA. The prof is a sweetheart but he won't do anything about it. I am a straight A student and still wound up with a B+ cuz I had a weird TA who didn't like me. Second chance policy for tests which doesn't always work out in your favor.
CS 110 is really easy. Everyone could pass this course by a little effort.
Hes good and takes time to help students who ask for it. He is easy to talk to which is important to me and tries to make sure everything works for all of his students. Overall an above average professor who makes it so some effort gives you an easy A. Logic required.
I used to almost fall asleep during his lectures because he would read off the slides, but the class did serve as a great introduction to CS and what would be expected of you during these kinds of classes. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU TAKE THE TRAIN/PUBLIC TRANSIT!!! There are 9-10 PM exams that are worth huge chunks of your grade.
Overall, the class was easy as long as you stayed on top of your work and did the readings / read over the slideshows. However, the exams (especially the first one and Part 1 of the Final) require lots of studying as there are lots of terms to memorize. He also isn't exactly engaging, but provides ample opportunities for extra credit.
One of the nicest professors at Rutgers. He values student engagement and will remember you if you attended or participated in lecture. For CS110, the class is impossible to fail as it is graded on points. He gives extra credit and allows exam 1 and 2 grade replacement with the final. For an introductory CS class, you will learn a lot.
He cares about his students, can earn up to 20 points extra credit but you need to work for it although not that hard of work. Classes are not mandatory. Final has a second chance policy which helps alot. Get ready to do a good amount of work and reading but it is not impossible work. Extremely hard to fail this class.
Very effeinate
If you have any interest in computers, even if you don't know a lot, take this class with him. This is not my major, but I definitely enjoyed what I learned and am glad I took this class. Do the assignments on time and go to the lectures to take notes. The exams are pretty straightforward if you pay attention and study a little
