great teacher, fun class

Interesting class. The novels weren't very interesting, but Brownlie is a funny guy. Essays are the main force behind grading, making life hectic for those who enjoy procrastination. :-)

This was the best english class I have taken , first time I felt good about the work I did , and a good teacher.

He was an awesome professor, and gave very little homework. He is very funny and tells lots of jokes.

Professor Browlie, is a pretty cool guy, the class is boring but he manages to make it fun by always cracking jokes, knocks republicans alot though :(, but other than that he's a great professor.

This guy is kinda goofy, esp. with his jokes. but he lays out everything you need to know about the class...talks you through the paper paragraph by paragraph.... i'm thinking i'm gonna get an A just because he tells you what you need to do

I think he is a great teacher. He makes corny jokes, but class usually gets out early and he does talk though everything.

He was a lot of fun. Very easy!!! He cared about his students and helped us understand everything!!!! He goes over all of the information you need to put in a paper...so basically you get an A, if you listen.

He is the greatest English teacher out there. He made the class fun and easy to learn in. He would always be there to help and tell you where corrections should be made. He really does care about his students and helping them succeed. Even after the semester, he still helps. I wish I could take him for every class.

He is a great teacher. He goes over all the readings in class and breaks it down for you. He gives 4 essays a semester and gives you a chance to rewrite two! If you need a class where you can come everyday gives you 6 absent days. This is a class where is is easy and you will get a lot out of it too!

he's cool

He was funny and engaging and knew my name, which is always a plus. The work was not too difficult or time consuming. He was very opinionated, which i did not mind but if you're particularly sensitive you might want to steer clear.

He is a great teacher who takes the time to go over the readings in great detail (which is something that I really liked)...he is opinionated, but that did not bother me because I agreed with almost everything he had to say! Brownlie also gives encouraging and constructive feedback on your writing, and it makes you want to write better essays.

Excellent teacher, very VERY intelligent. If theres a book out there, he's read it. You owe it to yourself to learn from this man, ask him about the constitution.

Prof. Brownlie is the greatest! The Honors classes were very small and provided for great discussion. Some of the texts seem difficult but he makes the class fun and interesting. He also gives great feedback on your essays and really wants you to do well. I wish he taught more classes.

Great teacher. I dreaded taking English classes, but he got me intereasted with his teaching and knowledge. He knows the material and the background of the writers. He is opinionated and has no problem sharing his views, but is equally willing to listen to yours. I spent 45 minutes after a class just talking about random things with him.

He truly is the best professor I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. It's funny when I read that students don't like him because he is a liberal. He doesn't shove it down your throat, and he always allows for students' opinions. Take any class with him that you can...including the honors classes. You will learn a ton.

Highly entertaining lectures about the readings. But believe me, just doing one paper won't cut it. The only one I did, I got a B and I'm a horrible writer.

Prof. Brownlie is amazing. He truly cares about his students and is everything you could possibly want in a Prof.If you want or need English credits and miss his classes, you will be cheating yourself. He is extremely intelligent and delivers content with deliciously dry humor. He gets an A+ in my grade book!

This professor is great. He's easily the most fun out of any class I've ever had. I think his approach is great. He's definitely liberal and while I didn't agree with everything he said, he's very open to feedback or comments. Participation is key in his class as well as writing well researched papers. Do yourself a favor and take his class.

He was, by far, the best English teacher I've ever had. You don't have to put too many hours into the class to get an A. Be prepared for an extensive and comprehensive final!

MR Brownlie was the BEST english teacher Ive ver had! I learned sooo MUCH from him not only about english but things of the world. He truly cares about his students and encourages us all the time even when your paper sucks he still points out the good work. AACC is LUCKY to have Brownlie. He is Harvard material! Take Mr.B!!!

Great professor, very knowledgeable, & has a good sense of humor. Really cares about the student's success. Goes over readings in great detail. 4 essays (1 is the final) and a reasearch project. Assignments can be tough, if you're not good at writing, but he is very approachable and will help. Take him if you can!!!

Probably my favorite teacher I've ever had, ever. He actually made me genuinely interested in what we were learning.

The best English teacher I've ever had. He is hilarious and informative at the same time. He has genuine interest in what he teaches and that inspires interest within you. He treats all his students with the same amount of respect. ASK FOR THIS TEACHER!

Professor Brownlie is AWESOME!! Class consists of a few papers and if you do badly he lets you re-write them. There are no tests or quizzes which is awesome and when you get to the poetry section he goes over them in detail. I learned how to write thesis statements really well. DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Professor Brownlie is the best. Whoever says that they did not learn anything from this class is silly. He made the garbage that we read in class actually sound like interesting and relevant! He related to his students, and always lent a helping hand if you had trouble comprehending any of the material that we covered.

Professor Brownlie was one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. As long as you are willing to work hard and go to the writing lab you will do well. You must turn in all homework assignments but there is a total of only 5 assignments. He was a great professor.

Just take this class, you wont regret it.

Dr. Brownlie is super laid back and a bit odd. I'm not gonna lie, I did not like him at the beginning of the semester but a couple classes into it, he became one of my favorites. He is funny. All you have to do is write 3 essays and do a take home final. Super easy.

Prof Brownlie is awesome. I had trouble with most english professors until i met him. he is very understanding which is totally cool, most ppl would think hes odd, i just think hes different, funny, smart and he knows his stuff. if you take this class you wont regret it.

Professor Brownlie is awesome. He'll help you out to the point of proofreading your papers if you ask. He's funny as hell, and keeps the class interesting. The course is not incredibly easy, but Brownlie allows much more leeway than most stuck-up literary types. Loved his class, glad to see he teaches a level 200 as well. Looking forward to it.

Brownlie is a great professor. You just need to know from the first paper how he wants you to write and if you follow the same style you will get an A. his class consists of only papers and a final! His papers are really easy and he will help whenever you need help! funny and I never skipped his class! Very nice professor as well!

Your grade is on three papers and a final exam. He lays everything out for you all you have to do is follow directions. He goes over everything you read in class.

Prof. Brownlie is the BEST! Took his night class he let us out early everyday, but would stay after if you needed the time. We read 4 books and wrote a 5 paragraph paper for each. Every class prof. B would summarize the assigned readings which were Hamlet, Gulliver's Travels, Silas Manner, and East is East. We also wrote a 5 page paper. Seems...

Professor Brownlie was such a caring instructor. He never talked down to anyone when helping them with their papers or when answering a question. Professor Brownlie was genuinely interested in helping you be successful. I had his night class at Arnold Campus and he's halrious! Yes, take his class! You will NEVER regret it!

One of the best English teachers ever! you can not fail his class. You need help he's there for you just ask. As long as you read what he assigns you will not fail! you hate poems well thats no problems. He will and i mean HE WILL EXPLAIN!

Definitely would recommend taking his class. He's entertaining and informative, and is willing to help anyone with any questions that they may have. Also super nice and is willing to actually spend time to get to know the issues you're having with any assignments.

I am not one that typical does well with writing papers, but some how managed to get an A on each paper written in his class. If you show up to class and pay attention and participate there is NO reason you should not pass his class! He was AWESOME!

I had Professor Brownlie for English 111 and 112. Great teacher he will help students out. He cares about his students. I would definitely take him again. Trust me if your someone who stresses about essays take his class he will help you. I can say I will miss his class, its been a pleasure knowing him. Hope to see him around campus.

If I could click more than one option about describing Professor Brownlie I would also put down caring , accessible outside of class, respected and amazing lectures. He had the class laughing never boring. Take his class you will not regret it. I will definitely miss his classes! Great teacher cared about his students. Need more teachers like him

Professor Brownlie is truly a great teacher. He takes the time to read the assigned books with us, which is great because some of them may feel a little hard to understand. He will guide you and help you with points that you can use to work in your papers. I truly enjoy his class and I find it fascinated. You won't regret it.

I loved professor Brownlie. He made sure I knew what I was reading and could complete the essays. He never made me feel like I would fail and he never left me questioning a thing about our lectures. He was there ready to teach and help his students. You have to show up to class or you will miss out on the book, other than that, its an easy A!!!

Best English Professor EVER! He makes sure that you understand what your doing and he always goes beyond for his students. Trust me take his class, you wont regret it. He will make the class laugh and he cares about you and that you pass. You ask for help and hes there, he wont let you fail.

He's an amazing teacher. He didn't assign much work except for a few essays, and a research paper. He gives amazing feedback and asks questions to interact with students. He also replies to emails and is very detailed to make sure all my concerns were addressed. Would recommend.

There is not many assignments which is what I love most. He gives a lot of feedback on your assignments and you have the opportunity to redo them. He is a very tough grader though, especially when it comes to grammar. You didn't need the big main textbook, you only needed the Norton reader.

The only assignments are ESSAYS. He is a pretty decent grader I got an A in the class. If you're not a fan of reading the entire books, he has files that are pretty in depth and help a lot, just make sure you cite correctly. Gives very good feedback on my essays that have helped me improve my writing.

LOVE him!!! He is so funny and laid back. He loves what he does and wants you to succeed!!! He is an awesome person and teacher, as he is very clear on what he expects. You are only graded on essays and when you read books he has files that walk you through the book that are very helpful. Would 1000% take again with him!!!
