Mr. Campbell is awesome!! You will absolutely LOVE him! You will feel 100x more intelligent just by having a conversation with him. You won't need the book, but you will need to be dedicated. He loathes lazy, unprepared, and uninterested students! Go in expecting to change your ideals of TCC!!

Best teacher so far. He is so fun and doesn't even use the book. don't bother buying it. but he does critique while you speak, and really works with his students. he is funny and keeps his classes interesting. u wont fall asleep. def'n recommend it.

Great instructor. I hated public speaking going into the class, but he still managed to make it my favorite course of the semester. Assigns a lot of work, but somehow manages to make speaking in front of 20+ people seem simple and easy. Clearly cares more about the student than he does sticking to any outline. Textbook optional, skimming it helps

Well... what can I say. Don't take his class if you don't want to hear him talk constantly about himself. Every single class.. he loooves to talk about himself. "I used to live in San Francisco, so..." On the plus side, veeerry easy. We actually had only 3 speeches. I got a 90 on my last speech because he didn't "get" it, but that's ok. EASY.

This teacher was very concerned about the students in the class. He was very helpful throughout the class. I enjoyed his way of teaching.

He will challenge you to your best of abilities. I feel like he taught me how to be a better writer as well as better spreaker (for sure!!). I was extremely frightened to take this class, however in the end it was my favorite! He's BRILLIANT!!!!

I'll have to say one of the best teachers I've ever had. His teaching method is very entertaining and although he expects you to be at class, it's very well worth it! He's got a lot of skill in the area of public speaking and his classes are the funnest! He knows something about almost everything, so it's hard to argue with him. Highly recommended!

Mr. Campbell was a fantastic teacher, probably my most favorite teacher I've ever had. He really boosts your confidence and helps you get an A. Everything we spoke about was very controversal, but we all had friendly debates as well. He made our entire class become friends, to grow, and respect eachother. He became a friend, and I recommend him!

Very animated, passionate, and happy about what he has to teach. Lots of writing will be done in that class! So have time set outside of class to write and practice speeches, he will know if you didn't. Clear about what he expects. Sometimes you need to remind him where the class left off, he loses track between all the classes. 100% recommended

Alan was one of the most interesting and entertaining teachers I have had in a long time. I learned quite a lot about communicating and life through his class. The best part was that he did it all with such finesse, you didn’t realize just how much you learned till the class was over. I would recommend him to anyone who is serious about learning.

I was scared to death of taking public speaking. Alan Campbell made me feel very comfortable speaking in front of other students. Very few speeches in comparison to other classes (3). Professor Campbell is excellent at what he does. I think almost everybody was nervous at the beginning of the class, but Prof. Campbell was very encouraging, and he is clearly highly intelligent. The setup of the class was a bit odd, though. Basically, the first half of the semester was composed of lectures, and the second half was presentation.

Dr. Campbell really cares about his students. Passing is simple, address him properly, do your work, don't use your phone and be respectful. He's a very eclectic man and knows a lot about everything. If you need help, he will help you with ANYTHING. Dr. Campbell is an incredible professor and a rare find as a person as well.

Oh my god. When I walked in on the first day and he started giving us homework I thought I would never get through this class. But after his funny jokes and amazing advice and how he just helps so many people was great. I suffer from anxiety and he helped me get over that. He makes me laugh before I go up in front people to help me warm up.

I took professor Campbell this past fall semester and he is an amazing professor. He takes his time to explain what he wants and how he wants your speeches to be. There's only two things you can do to get on Dr. Campbell's bad side and that is not turning in homework on time and being on your cell phone. This professor gives me mixed feelings. He was the most in depth of any prof i have had so far. Do your work and you will pass. Don't do the work and you make this nice man who's name evokes the imagery of soup very sad. Please don't make him sad. If you have trouble going to class (or like skipping) you won't do well.

Dr. Campbell is truly a brilliant professor. He's hilarious and it is very clear he cares deeply for his students. Beware that this class is NOT an easy A tho. He makes you EARN your grade from your 3 speeches and expects you to have a slightly different version of your speech on your desk every class (one double spaced, one with huge font, etc).

Dr. Campbell is easily the best professor I have ever had. He teaches more than just the criteria of class, he gives life lessons. He is wise. He has many stories and he is quite animated when he speaks. Its like going to a comedian, or public speaker if you will. I loved going to his class, in fact I was always excited. He is a must take!

Dr Campbell is entertaining for sure. He gives great advice on public speaking but I feel the online version (due to COVID) of his class does him a disservice. He seems like a better in-person lecturer due to his chatty nature. I do wish he was more strict with late assignments - letting some students skate by doesnt do the world any good.

Dr. Campbell was by far the best professor I had this semester! Hes hilarious and makes the environment feel safe to read aloud. His way of telling stories and teaching style was good. Kind of bummed out that I did not get a chance to meet him in person due to Covid, but he made the best out of the situation. I would highly recommend him.

He really cares about each and every one of his students. I first came into the class terrified of public speaking, but he makes sure to ease everyone into it and help us feel more confident. Asking questions after class is the best way to get a hold of him. The 3 speeches that he assigns are the main grades in the class, so make them count.

Honestly the best class I've taken so far at TCC. He really motivates you to do better and try your hardest. He's quick with jokes and always means well, if I could take the class again I would. If you're worried about Public Speaking this is the right class for you because he'll teach you how to without you even realizing it.

He is very lecture heavy and expects you to receive all the information necessary from the first pass of his lecture. He also encourages students to share notes and help each other. He was a great teacher who reminded me of Robin Williams LOL! And he was right, I cannot look at a movie the same way now!! I had him for CST151 btw lol (film apprec.)

Dr.Campbell was very fun and I'd gladly take a class taught by him any day (despite me hating public speaking). There are only a few assignments, so each one makes a pretty big grade difference, but he's clear with what he expects and open to unique responses. There was a lot of open discussion/interesting conversation in this class that I enjoyed.

There are few professors that will make such a mark that time dares not erase it. Alan Campbell is this professor. Quite frankly, I was terrified to take this class and almost dropped it the week of. However, Dr.Campbells demeanor quickly altered my feelings and my anxiety was squashed. He is understanding, accommodating, and very intelligent.

One of the best (and unique) professors you will take! He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He's humorous and passionate about what he teaches. The course will challenge and change you in the best way. No textbook needed. He only assigns and grades 3 presentations, so make it count!

While Professor Campbell's class can be challenging, he really cares about student success. The speeches are the main focus, but Unstuck AI proved super helpful for practice and preparation. Definitely take this class if you want to improve your public speaking skills.

I did not have him for CST110 I had him for film appreciation. One of the most eccentric yet passionate professors you'll find at TCC. Sometimes the risks he takes when teaching are a bit... too much, but I think with him you have to take that with the rest, and you don't want to lose the rest. You'll never see a movie the same again.

Dr. Campbell is a fantastic and inspiring gentleman. The course itself is easy as long as you show up to class, engage, and support those around you!

you must take this teacher, his lectures are so amazing. By far one of the most engaging teachers I have ever had.
