He breaks Algebra down to make it understandable. I've never been able to pass Algebra and I have a high B in his class!
I had to take him for Intermediate Algebra. He's a cool guy. It's funny to notice that when he messes up on a problem or gets lost he makes a "tshhh tshhh" sound. Every single time. I made a B in there. Final was easy. For me though, I don't need a teacher for math. I study out of the book so I never went to class. He's nice though. Good teacher.
This is a very helpful teacher. He is always willing to answer any questions, and available for extra help.
Is an awesome and friendly teacher. Is willing to help you out in any way possible. You do definately have to study for his test but he gives you a review. I would recommend this teacher to anyone!
Made everything very clear, broke everything down to where anyone could understand it. Great class overall.
He was a nice teacher and I think he really tried to be helpful and teach us something ... but the guy goes WAY TO FREAKING FAST for us math stupid people to even keep up. I got so lost. Literally... he speeds through everything. What I little I managed to learn, I learned from outside tutoring. He needs to sloooooooow down in his teaching! :S
He is a great teacher, but he does go really fast on the things that he thinks you should have already know. I worked really hard in his class but froze up on his test, all of his homework and class quizes are on line that is really nice. I am taking him again.
Very good teacher. Ecourages questions and allows lots of review time in class.
Not a bad teacher, knows his stuff, and answer all questions and will work them out when asked. There is an online hw assigment usually every week, and if your not good at taking tests, then I would study, just like any other class. Just go to class and ask questions and you'll be fine.
The man is definately born to teach. He actually cares about his students and wants them to do well. He spends as much time as the students need for questions. The main thing I like about him was the fact that he doesn't put anyone on the spot or call anyone out when solving equations on the board. I took him for 0350 and 1314. He's great!
A REALLY GREAT Teacher going above and beyond to help his students understand the material and then some. He doesn't give tricky questions, but does give bonuses for those who want to do a little more. Everything would have been covered in class and explained clearly using a variety of methods. He does expect you to do your part. Definately take!
Great teacher.
Very Good
He is very clear, loved this class, love math.
Love this teacher! I've taken him for 1350 and 1351. His tests aren't hard if you pay attention. Part of your grade is for participation but all the activities are useful and fun. Would take a class with him again. Helpful, interesting and interested in his students success.
I took him for both 1350 and 1351. He is an awesome teacher and knows what he is talking about. Attendance is important because of activity grades. Study for his tests and do well on the projects. He is more than willing to answer any questions. Not an easy A but a possible A. I highly recommend him!!!!
I took him for Math 1350 and 1350 and 0350. Best math teacher ever. I will miss him. He made it fun and I learned so much from him, not just math stuff.
He has a great personality and really knows math. However, he went really fast and math is one of those subjects that some people don't just get right away. Also, the fact that I took the class for the summer, may have been the problem with me keeping up. I still think he could slow down and stick to one way of explaining the problem.
He is a great instructor that really does make you want to learn math!! If you want to learn, take his class awesome instructor!!!
Guys, you really will love him guys. He uses a completion type computer program, guys. xD It is a combination of tests and completion grades. The tests are a little difficult sometimes, but he has reviews that are exactly like the test, and even has videos that explain how to do problems. If you do get bored, just tally how many times he says guys.
This instructor is very hard on his students. I am a strait A student and had to drop this course because he made it so difficult. I always attended class, did the assigned homework, received tutoring, and spent many hours each wk studying for this class. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF YOU WANT TO PASS THIS COURSE.
He is a good teacher and knows his stuff, but he likes to guilt trip and make you feel like you're going to fail whenever he talks about what you need to do. He tries to make you feel stressed out about the tests, and homework, but he grades very fairly and is always willing to answer questions and help.
I've had Cazares every semester since I started college, he's clear and simple, if a bit on the fast speaking side. Homework is not mandatory... unless you want to reinforce his lessons. Weekly quizzes, a few tests. He does question-answer reviews for all homework/tests if you had trouble. Teaches elementary-school style. Come to class to pass.
Knowledgeable instructor, too fast paced and doesn't fully check for understanding before going to a different topic or explaining it differently. Test are more complicated then his instruction. No homework is taken to check for clarity which hurts your testing abilities. How would you know when you are doing something right or wrong before hand.
He was fast but it was a summer class so it really wasn't his fault. Homework is not necessary if you understand what he is asking for in class and he does his best to make you a good teacher by bringing items for you to "play" with. I learned a lot and will definately be taking him again for teach 2
I had to drop the class because i studied for test all week long and guess what i got 43 on the test my advice to the teacher is: what ever you teach needs to be on the test.
I loved this professors class. He always related the subject to several grade levels and made it interesting. Tests can be difficult but if you go to class, do homework, and reviews you'll do fine. Attendance is a must. Very helpful I took for 1350 and taking 1351 with him next semester
He is a great professor. The homework is not required, but you do have to go to class because he has a lot of in class activities for participation. The activities are things you can use in your own classroom in the future. His tests aren't too bad. He spends a class going over the reviews for them, so it helps a lot to do the review before.
I took both of his math teach classes and loved the way he taught. He made sure everyone understood and if you didn't it was clearly your fault. Not the easiest class, but by far on of the best professors. I learned so much.
I enjoyed this class. and i do not like math at all! I will be taking his part two class this summer. Very nice and will help you if you need it.
Great teacher. Take anything he teaches. Had him for Spring Semester and taking second half in summer. Go to class and do the homework. Study for the tests and you will get an A. He makes the class very interesting and he has a good sense of humor.
Are you terrible at math? Have you struggled for as long as you can remember? Me too. But Professor Cazares changed that. He just makes it click. I'm suddenly making A's, everything just makes sense. No mandatory HW, doesn't teach out of the book, extremely helpful. Take him, he's the best math teacher I have EVER had.
Great Prof. I really liked his style of teaching. I actually learned how to do math!! Take his class you will be glad you did!
Best math teacher ever! Easy to follow, open to help outside of class if needed. Gets through the classwork quickly, almost always get to leave early. Used my mathlab for online quizzes and tests.
Professor Cazares is amazing! He's always willing to help. And he explains things very clearly. I've never made an A in a math class until this one! Take his class and you won't regret it!
Great teacher. I made an A because of how well he taught things. I'd take him over any one. He manages to make math fun. And I'm not just saying that, he finds a way to teach math with humor.
Mr Cazares is great!! He's very helpful and grades easy on projects/class participaton. Tests are faily easy as long as you attend class. Final exam is comprehensive, however he tells you which questions on the prior three tests to know for the final. He's very funny as well! Defintely a great teacher!
I took him during Summer session 1. I had not done any math in a LONG time, but he taught it so well that I went from starting out with a D to ending the semester with an 89%! Not an easy summer course, but he is a GREAT professor and I highly RECOMMEND him!!!
Mr. Cazares is funny. He also makes math simple and understandable for those who do not have a passion for it. The homework is a big part of the course but he doesn't take grades on it. I don't think that is a bad thing because we have an option at every single class meeting to ask questions on the previous homework. He works every question asked.
I thought Mr. Cazares was a great teacher. He really cares about us understanding the class and wants us to succeed. I liked him so much, I took him again for 1351. He always answers any questions you may have. He made math so much easier and I have always struggled in math. I got a B in his class which was great. Like I said, great teacher.
If you are a math pro already this class is for you. If not, get ready to spend ALL your time in the math lab. He moves so fast that when he asks if you have questions you don't even know where to start. He teaches as if you already know what he is talking about. Do NOT recommend him.
one of the best college algebra teachers at TCC. the book is not as important as the MyMathLab you have to purchase, and the ebook is included in the online lab. tests are not done in class, but you get a slip to take it in the math lab. HE IS THE BEST, DON'T LISTEN TO THE HATERS!
Great teacher. Easy to understand. Great attitude.
Very helpful and upbeat professor. Gives you help when you ask for it, makes class comfortable. Easy A if you do your homework. Daily work isn't required but is extremely helpful on quizzes. Good professor, would definitely take again.
Great Professor, just pay attention in class and show up to class! Attendance is necessary to pass the class!
Mr. Cazares is AWESOME! I'm glad I chose this instructor. He provides help needed...MUST SHOW UP FOR CLASSES...what he teaches is what is on the test. Each test, he tell you which ones will be on the final. GREAT teacher
No extra credit, his exams are tricky and his lessons are confusing. You have to pretty much study on your own. He made us buy the book and we never used it.
Algebra is not my strength at all but I was lucky to have had the best Algebra professor at TCC. Mr. Cazares is very passionate about the subject and he will do his best to make sure that his students learn the material in order to master his class. I would recommend that anyone needing Algebra take him as you will not regret it. He is awesome!!
Good professor and helpful when you need him. Homework is optional but you must do it if you are expecting a good grade. Two major projects that could be an easy A if you apply yourself. Tests are hard and that's why homework is important!
Took him for a Maymester and had no problems at all. Taking a Maymester is not easy and it takes a lot of work on your side to succeed. He had lots of tutors helping out which I liked a lot. Bottom line if you put in the work and do the homework you should have no problems.
Mr. Cazares is a great math porfessor. He post his notes on blackboard . The homework is not graded however, with any math class practice makes perfect. I was able to get an A in the class by doing everyone of my homework problems. He uses mymathlab so don't even worry about a book. Great professor as long as your not lazy.
Professor Cazarez is an amazing professor! I took his college algebra math emporium class & I loved it! Its an online class where you go to school & take it. BUT you get multiple opportunities for each test! And all of your work is due until the end of the semester. It gave me time to catch up when I had to slack off. Don't take if your lazy!
I took this class as an 8 week course. There were 2 easy group projects, but I didn't like that your partner is chosen for you. If you do the homework, you'll do great on the tests! He doesn't take grades on it, but gives time for questions in class. Showing up is necessary to understand what is going on, but he's willing to help outside of class!
Excellent for those seeking a degree in education. Homework isn't mandatory but is very helpful for upcoming tests.
I HATE Algebra but he made it somewhat easy. Quizzes are online and gives reviews for tests. He's available for tutoring and gives extra credit.
An amazing professor!!! He really cares about his student's success. The material is tough, as expected from a math class, but he really lowers the confusion and makes algebra super easy to understand! Not much work, but you do have to pay attention and take good notes because they will help.
I took the course using MyMathLab. No book, only mymathlab. The class is self paced and you can finish early. Mymathlab breaks down the question and answer for you so that you always understand before moving on. There are multiple chances to pass the test with a 70 if needed. The instructor is available as well as several assistants.
If math is not your strongest subject I highly recommend considering taking another Math Professor.
dont ever take this class. save yourself, you are not passing
Cazares was a very caring teacher! He cares a lot about the subject he is teaching and makes sure you understand whatever part of the math you are having a problem with. Very good explainer and a very nice person in general. definitely would recommend him. Course was an 11-day class so there was a lot of work involved but nothing too heavy.
gives great examples and shows more than one way to get correct answers, will go over homework and review in class,Questions in class are answered and encouraged, will give real class room applications and techniques .
You're only graded on 3 tests and 2 group projects. I took the 8 week course. It can be intense but not completely impossible. Homework is highly suggested. You don't get a grade but it's extremely helpful. Willing to help during office hours. Goes over tests. Let's you keep them to study for final. No dropped grades for this math course.
You're only grades are three tests. final and two solo projects. Lectures are intense you can go over about 3-4 sections a day. (If you're taking the 8 week course) homework isn't for a grade but highly suggested. no extra credit. no dropped grades. always willing to help. highly knowledgable about the material.
He is super quick on responding back to emails! I was afraid I wouldnt do good, seeing this was all online! But if you dont understand he will explain it to you. Homework was due every week, quizzes could be taken 3 times and exams were about 20-30 questions. Study hard with all the homework and you'll pass!
This class was pretty easy as long as you did the homework and quizzes, which were not always required. He reminds you about due dates, teaches good, and really wants all his students to succeed. He does grade really.
I was afraid at 1st that an 8 week class will be too hard, especially since i am bad at math. Cazares makes it very easy & makes sure you understand. 4 tests, unit 1, 2, 3, & final. lots of homework but no grade. recommended bc it is part of test review. 2 group projects, & in class activities are grades. attendance matters to pass. taking 2nd half
Mr. Cazares, was one of the best professors I have ever had. He was able to manipulate the algebraic concepts and present them any way needed for you to understand it. He is very caring and wants his students to succeed. His grading criteria is very clear as well. I would definitely take him for Math 2413 if it was an option.
Math not being my thing, he was pretty helpful when I can to questions. He has a fun way of teaching about him.
Daily partner activities that go over the lesson for the day. Helps reinforce what is being taught. Normally two projects that are due with plenty of time to complete. He goes over all the homework the following class period and gives time to ask questions about any of it. He also post what to expect on the following test.
I took his class in a Maymester, so my experience will vary some from a 16 week course. Very personable, very approachable. Definitely wants you to succeed, especially if you're putting forth the effort. Excellent math professor. Definitely take him. If you take the Maymester, you're going to need to legitimately study at least 4 hours after class
Took the 8 week class. He is very good and knows what he is teaching. Two projects 4 tests and he lets you know what kind of questions are on test. Really good teacher but requires about 10-15 questions per lesson. He will also work with you with whatever you need just give notice. Lots of activities in class that count towards grades but fun.
Wrote a review for 1350. Took as an 8 week class. Lots of homework. 4 tests. 2 projects. Very helpful knows what he teaches. Will work with you .
Took summer algebra, not realizing it was math emporium which ended up being a lifesaver. It's a hard class, but you can retake any test/homework as many times as you need to pass it. Mr. Cazares & his tutors were amazing and helped so much. It would have been so much harder without them! Really glad I took his class. I'd take him again.
Love love loved his class! It is so fun and engaging. Really nice and extremely knowledgable on different methods to teaching.
great teacher
Loved his way of teaching! You can tell he loves teaching and it makes you excited to become a teacher! Fast paced class, but he cares that you learn the material and is willing to go over a question until you understand.
Professor Cazares was amazing for college algebra. Weekly quizzes were due through Mymathlab and were required to pass the course. Everything was very organized and predictable. Math has never been my strong suit but Professor Cazares made it very easy for me to understand.
Overall great professor do not miss Class or you won't pass. all material is useful do the homework and reviews and you'll do just fine!
He was a great professor. I took both 1350 and 1351. The home work he gives from the textbook helps a lot for the exams. He was not a tough grader but you do have to review the problems for the test.
He has been one of the best professors Ive taken. He explains everything clearly and provides lots of examples. He makes it clear what he expects and isnt tricky. As long as you go to class, do the homework, and study what he tells you, youll do great. Im taking him again for part 2.
Took both maths in one semester. You basically take a ton of notes for a couple hours in class non stop, then study, then test. He is not an easy grader & not understanding at all. Do not take this class if you are expecting or have younger kids. Even a doctors note will not excuse you. I literally cried before tests. Lots of info to cover
Prof Cazares is one of my favorite math teachers. I WISH I had taken him for Math for Teachers I. 3 exams, 1 comprehensive final, and two projects. One was a children's book! You are expected to do homework, but he doesn't grade on it. He does give grades for class activities, so you must show up! But it helps so much to be there. He's great!
I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. The reviews provided for the tests you take are zero help!!!!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor, pick the other professor.
He is good dude. There is are test reviews same questions as on the test. He dropped the lowest quizzes and test.
Great professor! I took him over the summer and he was helpful when it came to asking questions. Homework is not for a grade but it helps with studying and understanding. You need to study for the tests or you will not do well. Lot's of notes and he uses hands on materials to help! Highly recommend him!
I am really enjoy his class and he is helpful professor. I would take him again.
I take him class in developmental math with him. We doing Aleks and make sure keep your homework. If you are stuck that homework then he willing help you.
His lectures are filled with a lot of information but you do a lot of practice problems to understand. every lecture is important so attendance is mandatory. Test are do able if you do the homework(which isn't for a grade but is recommended for practice).Over all nice and easy graded and would highly recommend
I took Alan Cazares in the fall and he was an amazing professor. He does have homework every week but it is not mandatory and is not graded. The only grades he cares about are the weekly quizzes that are online and open notes and the 4 exams that are in the math lab. He does have a comprehensive but it is exactly like the review he provides.
Mr. Alan was awesome professor, and he truly care his students. He is great breaking down solve problem.
I like him lot. He is really great knowledge of college algebra, and I would recommend take him.
Professor Alan was good and he is very helpful when you need help for homework. So he is good at breaking down on solve problem.
He is an awesome professor! He provides his own notes that are more easier than learning in mymathlab. Work can stack up easily if your time is not used wisely. Goes over chapters quick. Drops 2 quizzes. Goes over any homework questions you may have IN CLASS. Talks loud enough and isn't monotone or boring.
Definitely helps if you ask him, always avalible outside of class and definitely helped with any questions especially during the time we transitioned to online. Makes the subject easy to learn.
Mr. Alan was so good professor and we have a quiz on homework online. He seems great break down on concept math problem too.
Mr. Alan was an amazing professor and willing help you. He always rely emails and grade quickly on test.
With the COVID situation, took this class online for Summer. There is homework, but there is plenty of time to do it. He provided daily login collaborate session incase you got stuck on a problem. Math program is free for 2 week an the you will need to buy it. works out. Easy A if you study and do the work. Got an A and Math is not my strongest sub
took this class online because of the pandemic and its a very big change in a math class. its more on concepts and his tests are on small details you look over. very tough grader and he wont drop your lowest grades. lows of lectures and homework
I took the 2 week maymaster (online) and Mr. Cazares was phenomenal. A lot of work for 2 weeks (not recommended if you're not a math person) but he was available at abnormal hours and answered emails quickly. During the optional zoom calls he'd answer questions thoroughly and never got impatient. And, um, no dumb unnecessary class forum? Thank God.
I took Professor Cazares for the college algebra wintermester course. Safe to say it was difficult because of the little time we had, but I still made an A. He explains concepts well and we use mymathlab for all assignments and tests. The reviews contain questions that will help on the tests. Awesome Professor!
A great professor, it's only the subject that's difficult, especially if it's a fast paced course. DON'T be absent or you will be behind; lecture is hefty. I RECCOMEND E-TEXT instead of text book. He's a great advocate for students who have disabilities & will explain any material with ease. I would definitely have him as a professor again!
Prof Cazares has to be the best mathematics instructor I've ever had hands down. His experience in the public school system provides a unique perspective and allows for him to be able to explain things multiple ways. He genuinely cares about whether or not his students grasp the concepts and does everything in his power to make that happen.
I'm bad at math and this class was still easy. Professor is so nice and understanding. There's a few assignments every week so it's a bit time consuming, but not bad.
Alan's class was very easy, as long as you put forth the proper effort and just tried. He is also very understanding and willing to work with you if you have complications. He is quick to respond during the day, and usually quick to respond at night. I had no problems with Alan's class and communication was always respectful and quick
I took Professor Cazares for both Math 1350 and 1351. The subjects were difficult because it had been a while since we learned them, but he explains them so well and even offers to stay to explain concepts. Projects were fun and easy for 1350 we presented, not for 1351. Tests were easy if you did the homework! Ask questions!
I took the College Alegbra wintermester course and it is not easy because it was a 2-week course. However, he dropped the lowest test grade and the reviews were similar to the tests. He will help if you ask questions! Take him!! He is one of the best math professors at TCC. We used MyMathLab for the assignments, homework, and tests.
There were some issues that had presented themselves throughout the time we were learning. He would get upset if we had to review a certain question again. I because fearful of asking questions because of the shade he would throw at you for not understanding. Students did call him out on his behavior and his response was "im direct not mean"
Prof. Cazares is a really good teacher and good at connecting what we're learning to college algebra. Only real grades are 3 exams plus the final and 2 partner projects. All homework is optional, and he tells you which questions will be on exams (rephrased of course). Overall great teacher, will be taking his MATH1351!
I have taken three courses with Cazares and he is by far my favorite professor I have had so far in college! He very clearly cares about his students and will do whatever he can to make sure you pass. He gives extra credit questions on all of his tests and also gives partial credit points wherever he can. Definitely recommend!!
I finished College Algebra with an 88. Let me tell you, this is the HIGHEST grade in a math class I've ever had in my entire life! For once I actually felt smart and as if I knew math. Prof. Cazares is literally the best math teacher. He is not a heavy grader and gives points where possible on tests, dropped 2 quizzes, & one test grade. TAKE HIM!
I have taken Cazares for both Math 1350 and 1351 and he has been amazing!! Math is not my strongest subject, but if you really pay attention and ask questions the material is easy to understand. Homework is not mandatory, but it does help A LOT to attempt to do it so you can ask any questions on anything you are confused on.
I LOVED THIS CLASS!I will be taking him again for Math 1351. He really spends his time explaining concepts &answering questions. He rewords your question back to you to make you think about it sometimes rather than just giving the answer. 2 partner projects and 4 tests. Assigns homework and goes over it in class, but not graded. Funny & interactive
Cazares is AMAZING!! I took the college algebra winter session and it was a challenge considering how everything was crammed quickly. He drops the lowest test score and 3 HW assignments. He does give extra credit when deserved! He is very accessible out of class and his test reviews are similar to exams. He makes understanding easy, pls take him!
Really good at explaining the subject in his online lectures, and did a good job of answering any questions or just going deeper on the subject in class. Used mymathlab for homework and tests which was nice. Also provide d us with a review that was exactly like the test. 10/10 would take him again.
I took Mr. Cazares for 1350 and 1351, and it was amazing. He has clear grading criteria, explains himself well, and provides reviews for the three tests we take. Do not throw them away; that is your review for the final. If you have any questions, do not be scared to ask; he will always try his best to help you. Take him, you won't regret it.
I won't lie his class was difficult, I did do half semester classes and they were fast paced for that reason. He is an amazing grader and teacher. He is probably the best math teacher I have ever had. I would highly recommend him and he is a huge help. I took him for 1350 and 1351. I did struggle at times, but he made sure to help.
Professor Cazares strength is breaking down material step by step so it's understandable. Doing the homework assignments helps learn the material through practice. He drops 2 lowest quizzes. Exams are proctored. You can use calculator but not formulas which I didn't understand. Getting help from him through email is difficult.
hes a math teacher that makes sure you understand what is being taught. he has group sessions if you need to be caught up but overall, a fantastic math professor and involves humor in each of his lectures.
Class was very heavy coming back to College after 10 years. I would say he has a lot of homework and a quiz every week. We started in Chapter 5 with linear equations we did not easy our way in we went straight to the difficult stuff. He was a nice professor tried to help you, but wouldn't allow you to go back and work on your unfinished quiz.
Easy to understand. Allowed time for questions about homework. Very clear syllabus and due dates. Didn't grade too harshly. 2 homework sections and one quiz every week as well as 4 tests and the final (for the class I took). If you skip class you will have not idea what's going on.
Professor Cazares is great! His class was really straight forward. We used my math lab and it has an option for text reading and video clip examples, but he provides a YT video for every chapter. He is very good at reminding you of due dates and responds quickly to any questions. No notes or book for tests but he provides plenty of practice. 10/10
Prof. Cazares can explain equations very well. He asks if any of us had a problem with the homework and goes through 2-3 problems to help us understand. He wrote equations and had us solve them on the whiteboard with a group, which I liked. Homework and quizzes are due almost every week, so don't fall behind. Go to SI Sessions, lots of fun.
This was the first math class I have taken in almost a decade, and I cannot express how glad I am that I took Mr. Cazares course. He gives you every tool to succeed and makes info easy to understand If you're thinking about taking his class, do it! I'd 100% take another math course with him.
He's a great professor to take, even online. Very accessible and replies pretty quickly to any emails. 10/10 would recommend
