Not too bad
beats the other profs hands down
No Comments
so so so easy. Class is boring but he is such an easy grader. He gives you most of the questions prior to the exam.
AWESOME, he's hilarious and basically gives you the questions on the exams a week early, soo easy and lets you out early everyday.
Loves the internet
class is a joke, all test questions come from class handouts and such
hilarious. gives you the test questions in advance, so funny!
Absolute crackhead - this guy is insane. Very nice guy though, an easy grader and he pretty much gives you all the test questions in advance.
Awesome professor. Has to be the easiest Prof. I've had. He didn't want to give us a project. Somewhat lazy, but what do you expect from a government employee. Easier grader. Tests aren't too bad. I would take him again.
Very gifted professor. Tries to keep things realistic. Although I have had trouble with accounting in the past he did his best to accomodate and help. Very good guy, strongly reccomend for this class.
Was not easy at all. Gave me the worst grade I ever received at Bentley. His tests were somewhat difficult - seems that he has turned a new leaf.
He is just a great guy. I recommend taking him. Accounting is not easy, but he is just about the best you can get.
I did well on the exams and project, but my grade was so low! Emailed him and still hasn't responded. Makes u think ur doing fine then surprises u with a grade that u'd never expect. Typical of Bentley Accounting professors. Don't take him, unless u want your GPA to drop
He is a great teacher and a really nice guy. Keeps you on your toes during class and honestly wants you to do well on the test.
Amazingly funny man: the jokes make coming to class worthwhile. As for the material, he is big on class participation, but doesn't single anyone out. Relies on ppt slides, and gives practice exams (if you ask for them). Really a nice man and extremely accessible if you need extra help.
The man, takes some getting use to but I wouldn't take anyone else for AC310.
There's 3 tests and 2 short projects. He is very generous in grading the exams as he gives tons of partial credit. Occasionally makes funny comments. Definitely recommended to take, he's the best of the AC310 professors. I wouldn't dare to take anyone else.
guys got some quirks, but he's the man.. easy class, no homework, one project which takes an hour to finish..
Took the night class, so it may be different. Midterm was a piece of cake, then 2 projects he tore apart and screwed us on the final. You have to basically memorize the homework problems. Don't go by what others say, you have to work in this class.
Guy is eccentric, laid-back during class and likes to make jokes. However, don't let his appearance fool you. His exams are quite difficult because he does not adequately cover material in class. I've tried to think of him as a good professor, but he just doesn't teach well. He appears as clueless as us when going over HW problems.
An absolute idiot. Definitely the worst, most incompetent teacher I have ever had. He's a nice guy, but a horrific teacher. Bentley must do a better job with its hiring and get rid of morons like this guy.
tests are hard but easy grader. keeps it interesting in class w jokes. not a bad teacher
Tests are difficult, but grades them rather easy. Two tests, and one 5 page paper. Would take again if I had to take a tax class.
Easy up until the project and the final. The first two test were pretty easy, but the final was ridiulous. Very little of it was covered in class. With the projet, it looks simple, but he wants extremely detailed answers. Still, he is a very funny man. Jokes every class. Also, he is much better than the alternatives.
Not a great professor. Doesnt explain the material well and refuses to help in office hours. His quirky nature makes class interesting, but the tests are ridiculous and he's an awful grader. Project seems like it will help your grade, but it doesnt. I wouldnt recommend unless youre willing to teach yourself most/all the material.
Knowledgeable in subject - former IRS. Test are open book but extremely difficult. The homework and class material does not adequately prepare you for the tests. There is a midterm, final and a paper. Hard grader on the paper.
When you are in class he acts as everything will be fine and that you will do well on the tests. When you actually take the tests he screws you with impossible questions that are nothing like he taught in class. One of the strictest graders I have ever had. Nice guy, but horrible professor. Take another 212 teacher if you wish to do well
I have a 3.9 GPA and got an A in 112. I am getting a B- in this class and am spending 15 hours a week studying. Killed my GPA. He also has no idea about anything to do with Finance. He should not be at Bentley. Bad even for a GB.
Apparentley working for the IRS makes you qualified to teach finance. Didnt know anything and learned all the stuff 5 minutes before he taught it. absolute bafoon, nice guy but a total idiot. do yourself a favor and take a different prof, regardless of the class
I took Freed for GB 212. It's GB 212. Everyone who is giving Freed a hard time just doesn't study enough on their own or ask enough questions in class. I recommend Freed if you're not an idiot who complains left and right he's a real good guy.
GB 212 is structured horribly. Freed does a lot of example problems in class and goes over homework and genuinely seems interested. He cares about your grade and grades a little easy on the exams which is nice. Has a lot of office hours. Go to class, pay attention, and stay on top of your work and you'll do fairly well.
Granted it is a hard subject but this guy is ridiculous. Vaguely goes over powerpoints in class and then does problems by reading the answer off the answer sheet. Very nice guy but a bit out there.
Freed's exams are easy compared to other AC311 professors and he gives partial credit to the max
He's an okay guy. You'll do good on exams if you study your notes and read the book. Don't be surprised when the final exam comes along, seeing that it's a standardized exam for all AC311 classes.
I have no clue why everyone says he's so hard. Clearly these are the people sitting in 212 with blank expressions and not paying attention. He goes over everything and explains clearly. If you don't understand, just ASK and he will explain again. But everyone just complains about 212. I got a 4.0 in 212 b/c of him; very good prof
Really good guy. Take him you'll do well
Real nice guy. Can be a little nutty in class, but all the test questions come directly from the textbook... no powerpoints, no handouts. If you really spend time on the readings/ chapter problems you will do well. The final is easier than the two exams. He's very helpful if you talk to him one on one. I recommend him.
surprised he is teaching all of these high level courses. never felt he was that strong of a professor. now i am stuck taking him for advanced accounting next semester because he is the only one teaching it. not very organized and test are not what he went over in class. must be bucking for some high level job. a below average prof. in many ways.
Freed is awesome. Really nice guy. Genuinely interested in what he is teaching. AC312 is incredibly hard and many of the people complaining just can't live up to the challenge.
Those who have complained obviously didn't put in the effort required for an ADVANCED class. Professor Freed is an amazing professor who will go the extra mile to help students if they ask. AC 412 isn't an easy class but Prof Freed does a good job of splitting up the chapters so tests are manageable. I would take him again if I wasn't graduating.
Professor does not teach, just reads off of PowerPoints. Very disorganized and unprepared. Tests are not the same as the material reviewed in class. Avoid unless you want to learn all of the material on your own.
Hums excessively. So much so that even I now hum whenever I do accounting homework or study.
This professor does not know how to teach. Ruined what could have been a good class.
Difficult class, but he's a great guy. He's pretty helpful at office hours. I don't really know what the people here are talking about with the PowerPoint slides. He only goes through about 2-3 slides a class and spends a lot of time on textbook problems.
One of the best accounting professors at Bentley. His exams are not bad as long as you read the chapters and do the problems he assigns. Always ask questions if you get confused and make sure to get the concepts down in preparation for the exams!
An average professor who just goes over problems in class. all of the positive reviews were written by him. shows little knowledge and preparation for class. has a strong opinion of himself. makes many mistakes going over more difficult problems. does not answer questions well. many other choices are better and stronger than him. can't recommend.
DITTO!! AN INSATIABLE EGO!!! VERY HIGH OPINION OF HIMSELF!! AVOID!!!
Freed's tests are very unclear and hard but he curves them. Overall an amazing professorguy and I would definitely take him again.
don't recommend!! never prepare for the class, tests are tough, he doesn't know how to teach students.
He should not be teaching at such a high level (grad level). He is extremely unprepared and honestly one of the worst professors i've ever had. DO NOT TAKE. Unless you are the type who can read the book and do well by teaching yourself. I learned nothing from him and felt it was a complete was of time and money.
I like this professor myself. although he is a little weird, I can tell he is a compassionate person. he always give extra bonus to those who was not good at the exams. He likes to teach and always passionate about it. He explains very well. as long as you do the homework problem and participate in the class and you will be good at the exam.
no curve for grades, even when you are super close to next level. Lecturing and asking questions. kind of boring, slow speed speaking. Not able to cover all the materials.
Freed's a great professor. AC312 in general is terrible but he's a great guy and the best option. He's a funny guy and keeps you entertained. He tells you in class problems he thinks will be helpful to study for exams, make sure you review those and you'll be able to do well on all of his exams! Taking him again and look forward to it!
Professor Freed's idea of teaching is just putting up the textbook on the projector screen and reading through the examples in the book. Don't plan on learning anything unless you're willing to put in a lot of work outside of class teaching yourself everything. Nice guy, but not a good professor.
Good guy. A bit quirky, but means well. Classes consist of lecture and homework review, though you definitely need to read and practice on your own to do well. Tough grader on course project, but it's balanced by relatively lenient grading on exams - not as picky about formatting as some professors.
Professor Freed is a nice guy, but not that great of a professor. My guess is he isn't quite prepared enough for class. Most of class was a disorganized lecture of info from the book and then a review of homework problems you have the answers to. While he grades test well, he was unnecessarily picky on the projects which provided no new knowledge.
Freed is a really nice guy, but he is a horrible professor. It feels like he doesn't even understand the topics at times. When he does problems in class he just pulls up the solution and reads it out. No explanations on how to actually do it. This means you have to learn on your own, which makes his exams even harder. Avoid him if you can.
Professor Freed does not teach at all. If you want to do well you'll need to teach yourself all of the material outside of class.
The comments here are a bit harsh. I graduated last year but I took him twice (AC 311 & AC 412). They're both pretty difficult classes, but he goes over the material well and makes it understandable if you actually read and follow-up during office hours. Personally I thought he was better at teaching AC 412 because he had more control over it.
great professor
A very nice professor.
Nice Professor, good handwriting, he makes material concise and easy to understand, he even provides notes from class. Easy test. Will take him again
at first I found his lecture not clear, but than I found that many key points in exams are mentioned by him clearly in class, he also explains every homework questions clearly, so that I had a good understanding of the course. he is really nice too, with some jokes and a lot of steps in class. cute professor.
Nice professor. He makes everything easy and clear. He always finises class 10 minutes early, not overwhelming you with a lot of information. He does not rely much on powerpoint, which is good. not very strict, and he seems very agreeable and caring.
GB112 is a tough class and there is a standardized curriculum so there is not much that can be done about the difficulty about tests or the amount of homework. However, that being said, Freed is an easy grader (as easy as you can in GB112) and is really good at giving feedback. He has a great positive attitude as well.
Great professor, good energy and provides good lectures. Goes over a lot of problems in class and encourages questions. Read often and multiple times if you don't get the material. Closed book exams, only downfall I found was there is limited material that is graded, one low score and it hurts a lot more. Tough grader on papers, but gives feedback.
Professor Freed is a funny guy who tries to teach everything important to succeed but falls short on it. He usually never finishes the powerpoints for the class and then tries to speed up to cover it later on. You will have to study a lot out of class to do decent on the exams. The course project is easy though and he doesn't expect much.
He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well on the exams. He is quirky (like trips on the same spot on the rug and struggles with scrolling through slide shows), but is easily accessible outside of class and responds to emails quickly.
Freed is a great guy! Gotta put in the work and you'll be rewarded with a decent grade. He offers plenty of examples in class that are very similar to the ones on the test. Study those problems and you will be alright. Projects are pretty difficult as well.
Freed is really a great guy. He's very funny in class, which makes the class interesting. His tests are fair and if you study the learning objectives then you will be fine. He also sends out email updates and responds to emails really fast. Would highly recommend.
He is one of the funniest and easiest professor for GB112. His tests are pretty easy and he hints at what will come. But he does not teach that well however it's Accounting and reading the presentation is sufficient even if you are doing that in class. You need to participate in class as participation is graded.
GB112 is not an easy class by any means, but Freed is easily accessible and wants you to do well. Participation matters and the more you re engaged in class the better you will do. GB112 is not an easy class but I think Freed was the best! He response to my emails literally within minutes and was a great resource! And he is absolutely hilarious!
He is so quirky, funny and nice. A joy to be in his class except for the fact that I did not learn anything from him. Learning the common concepts that were tested for the course was difficult with him and I did most of my learning from other teacher's study sessions!
He's really funny, in a dry humor kind of way, but not that great of a teacher. He's knowledgeable on the topic, but gets sidetracked a lot during the lectures, so you'll have to learn a lot on your own. Still, GB112 is very boring, so it's nice to have some of his humor in class. He's a slow grader, but gives good feedback and grades fairly.
Freed was a great professor for 112. He was a funny guy and made class as interesting as it could be. Definitely does a good job explaining the material and making sure you're prepared for class. Take him if you can!
112 and 212 are never gonna be easy A's, no matter your professor. The grade comes from your effort, but Freed is probably the best prof you could get. Took him for 112 and taking him again for 212. He's quirky/silly, a fair grader, and gives good lectures. No cold calls, just participate once every other class, study/listen, and you'll be fine.
Prof. Freed is the sweetest man. GB is a tough class and his classes are very lecture heavy. He doesn't go into great detail in his teaching of the topics but if you keep up with the homework and go to office hours you'll do fine. Pretty strict grader on the proj. and exams. He keeps class upbeat and interesting though.
He knows his stuff for sure, but sometimes doesn't relay the info to students in the most clear and concise ways which makes it difficult to fully understand topics at times. Only 2 exams just like 112 but group project is longer and more labor-intensive, although not particularly hard. Overall nice guy and willing to help students all around.
Took him the COVID semester (Jan-Mar in person, Apr-May online) and thoroughly enjoyed his class in person. Not a monotone speaker, and he laughs + smiles frequently. Online he was an average professor, but would still take him again for both in-person and online.
Really nice guy. For a 112 class, he is a good teacher. He goes over the readings in class and explains things well.
Papers are graded tough and exams are to be expected for an advanced accounting course, but great professor that is happy to explain things and receptive to feedback
He's a tough grader on the papers, but don't be discouraged. 3 Tests (noncumulative) and he weights your exams based on your performance. No participation grade, but he writes down names. Dude is pretty funny tho. Reading the book is very helpful. Kinda glosses over examples. He bumped me up from a B+ to an A- without me asking... so participate!
Great guy, sometimes lectures are off-topic and can get confusing.
Love this professor. Super nice and caring. Only thing is that he cares a lot for participation.
He is the sweetest, most caring professor I had in all 4 years of college. If you get a chance to take Professor Freed, do yourself a favor and take it. I really struggled with accounting and he consistently went out of his way to help me with so much patience and kindness. He is also hilarious and overall made the class very enjoyable 10/10!!!
