Instructors are a husband/wife team. Instructor's grading criteria are ambiguous and subject to change without notice. Our entire class got into an argument with this instructor over changing grading criteria.

Pretty easy class...if you just do the work and have exactly what he asks for.
Do what u have to do, the rest is easy. Be in class, absence/tardy counts -5 pts. His laughter might freak u out at the beginning, can get used to it, but sometimes distracts during giving a speech.
At first he seems off the wall but as the semester goes on you get used to him. The tests are easy and he is helpful with speeches. Watch out for his laughter during speeches because it is really distracting. Overall its an easy A, but attendance is mandatory and its a severe penalty if you skip.
I hated this guy. Tried to make an example out of me, he won't cut any slack, and when someone asks a question that he don't know the andwer to, he'll give an unclear explanation and end it off with, "You know what I mean?" The class was easy and all, but too strict on attendance, and work.
easy, but when it comes to speeches he tends to grade a lil harsh. if he likes you, he grades fine but if he doesnt its another story. tests are a,b,c type problems with maybe a fill in at the end.
Easy class, he is unclear, do not miss class, give the most obvious answer on all test(ie. is racism bad - yes or no?) make sure to come prepared. He is a cool guy but i think hes a bad teacher- would not recommend(there are easier A's)
He's a cool guy and all and if you speak well and do good on the exams you'll do well in the class BUT if you take him you have to go to EVERY class because he takes 5 points off even if your like 2 minutes late he gives no kind of slack at all unless your death bed.
Very cool class not hard at all . . . but you must go to every class . . . the attendance will kill your grade in this class . . . watch out for his loud fake laugh also . . . it's horrible.
Like it was said before...he's easy and nice if he likes you. Not a super great teacher. And watch out ladies.....he's a huge ****. And Im not the only one who thinks so.
Hes a pretty average professor..Hes grading on speeches is pretty harsh sometimes...and when hes a a bad mood..dont even squeak!! overall you learn alot from him because he prepares you to speak infront of audiences in a average formally manner..

He puts out a friendly persona but then stabs you in the back by not grading fairly. Very meticulous...whill try to dock you for something even if you do a perfect job.
he's nice at first then suddenly he'll trip on you for no reason. you would think that he's a cool teacher but then as the semester passes, you'll see the real him. even if you do the best jobs in speeches he'll still grade you harshly. he has favoritism amongst his students.
Kowboy Kopp, as our class secretly called him, follows the "You can't judge a book by its cover" trend. He looks nice but he knows how to throw a hissy fit. He speaks slow because you have to write everything he says. Easy to become friends with the other classmates thanks to his personality. Make a new friend, borrow the book, and don't buy it.
don't take this class...
Great class. Straightforward expectations. Two minor and three major speeches. Multiple choice exams. Be prepared for speeches. Come to class on time. Turn work in when it is due. Nice professor. Friendly and willing to help. Easy A if you put the necessary amount of time and effort into producing quality presentations.
Good teacher. The speeches are clearly explained, and students pick ANY topic, making it easier to talk in front of the class. I feel more confident as a speaker and test expectations are given so it is easy to study for tests.
man this comm 130 class was easy. speeches were easy. tests were ehh, if you read the stuff that he talked about then you'll get good grades on those too. tells you what he expects of you so just follow it. attendance is a must, you will fail if you don't show up. doing outlines suck but whatever, EZ CLASS!
He is reallt good teacher, his test is very easy, he goes over what exactly is on the test the day before the test. His speech is pretty simple and easy. The only thing is that he is pretty strict on the assignment, like he won't except late work. If you stay on his good side, you'll do good in his class. Taking his class, it has helped me a lot!
This class was pretty easy. Attendance is mandatory; points are docked for being late. I got an A. For the tests, just study the notes he gives us in class. For the speeches, make sure to follow the outline EXACTLY, and you'll do just fine. This teacher has random mood swings, and he definitely is nicer to the girls.
I feel that he is the worst teacher i have ever had. He is unclear on test and what he expects from you. If you ask a question his reply usually is extremely unclear and usually ends up with "well you know what i mean." If you want a teacher who is going to teach you something.. he is not for you!! Also, attendence is a MUST!!!!
he sucks, the test has nothing to do w/ anything he says and a couple of days before you give your speech you have to tell the class what it is about so it messes up your speech and he doesn't help at all w/ improving one's speaking ability.
Worst teacher ever!!Attendance is a must and you learn crap when you attend lectures, its basicly everything from the book. He asks you to take notes and it covers almost all the materials on the test but you must also read the useless textbook.(STUPID). save yourself money and don;t buy book its BS, just photcopy the outline. He's a Strict grader2
I think he is a cool teacher. He posts his lectures online, so you really do not have to go to lecture, however it is recommended. He gives more information and explanation about the material during lecture. He provides you information you need to know for the test before the test. He is straight forward and clear. Class is pure memorization.
Amazing professor. He has a lot of humor & doesn't seem to take things seriously but he'll go through the lectures to make sure you remember them. Boring class though.
He took over for a passed on professor. No textbook for our class, and he's a nice guy. Very laid back, and very supportive. He makes you feel comfortable when you give speeches. He can be peculiar sometimes, and repeating words for an entire class time gets exhausting, but he's a good professor, regardless.
He's reallly picky with stuff, takes off alot of points on speeches. Last speech, he let his anger get in the way of grading and took off 10 points for anyone late, which made my grade go from an A to a D - ridiculous - for being late TWO minutes. anyways, he bursts into spontaneous laughter during speeches which is distracting. EH.
He's an easy teacher, his grading scale is reasonable UNLESS you are LATE. He makes himself clear from the beginning of going to that class DO NOT BE LATE OR ABSENT. otherwise the class is EASY. he DOES play favortism a bit, but not all the time, he gives everyone's tardy a small break sometimes, JUST DONT BE LATE. good class, very helpful
he just does not understand that there is life outside of his classroom. he treats us like HIGH SCHOOLERS and nit-picks tiny little details. if you can, dont take him. he's nice and the class is generally easy..maybe in the afternoon. 8am with him SUCKED. he liked me tho which made it a little easier. we had some debates on grades and his stupidnes
HE IS REALLY COOL AND EASY. JUST TAKE GOOD NOTES AND YOU WILL PASS. HIS LECTURES ARE BORING THOUGH AND HE THINKS HE IS FUNNY BUT HEY, HE IS GOOD TEACHER
Pretty cool guy. likes to make jokes. has you do several speaches in front of the class but lets you pick the topic. gives a couple easy tests. dont get the book, its a waste. you should be able to get an A easily, just show up
he's really cool, he will help you get through any troubles.
really easy class. but sucked as a prof. He likes to think that he is cool with the college kids but when it comes down to it he is and **** and treats the class like they are idiots. you can get a good grade if you can put up with him for the semester but i dont recommend it
he is very chill teacher and makes jokes. However just do good on ur speeches and ull be fine..he grades easy on the first 3 speeches but the last 3 are 5 min speeches that he can grade hard if u dont rehearse it well enough
Very easy class and attendance is mandatory. Easy A if you follow the guilelines for the speech. Don't need to purchase a book. You can ask someone to scan a criteria sheet. Sucky professor but you can manage. She treats you like you're in highschool
he is a good professor, but he does not accept late work.
Overall, a good professor. He does have some awkward tendencies, but it's all in good fun. He puts up grades very fast so you're never wondering what you have in the class. Getting an A isn't as easy as you'd think but if you study for the tests, you should be set. The speeches were always fun to do and his tips are very helpful. Take him!
he's an easy grader on speeches just make sure you follow the guidelines he gives good feedback, his test are will bring you down if you don't study, make sure you go to class, you lose a lot of points if you don't over all its an easy class but make sure you do the work
If you feel comfortable speaking in front a class then this will be the easiest course you've ever taken! It was for me, it is all 1-2 minute speeches every few weeks and then two tests about IPA symbols. Class is usually pretty boring - but it was the easiest A I've gotten at CSULB. If you are not so comfortable he is great in helping you!
Great guy. He has a real simple grading policy (100 points total for the semester). The grading is based on attendance, performances, and two tests on IPA symbols. His class is really easy (although if you have one bad day and blow it on one test, it may be impossible to get an 'A'. His midterm was worth 20 points and 20 questions long).
Ty Kopp is probably the most positive and encouraging instructor I've ever had. The class is a breeze, as there is no reading or assignments. Just a couple short presentations and two tests. The tests can be tricky, so remember the IPA symbols and you should be fine.
His class is actually not that easy, for Comm 130 at least. He gives good feedback, but there is absolutely no room for error. He won't cut you any slack for attendance or grades, and if you mess up on one speech, you definitely cannot mess up on anything else whatsoever. He knows comm well, but all his slides are the books, not his own.
Class is very simple. Two short speeches and two oral performances. Midterm and final on IPA symbols which is the most difficult part. Class ends early on most days. Attendence is mandatory.
Great professor. First three speeches were short and easy to get a 100%. The last three speeches were 5 minute and were a little tougher to get an A. We also had three (multiple choice, true and false) tests that were pretty easy as long as you studied his lecture notes. I would definitely recommend taking him
He is very easy and you can get A's on all the speeches as long as you don't do them last minute and you do the correct outline. Take his advice on giving speeches they really help your grade. Overall he is very nice and if you study his notes the test would be easy for you because his notes are basically the questions on the test.
He's nice. Good prof. If you think you're going to miss 1-2 days don't take him. His grading is stupid. Regardless of the fact that I got perfect scores on all the speeches and solid b's on the midterms, there's no way for me to get an A because I missed 2 days. Pretty much he doesn't care about your academics in the class, just that you show up.
This class seems fun and easy at first. Just wait. He doesn't teach you what you need to know. I got a C on the midterm and A's on every speech and final but got a B because his ridiculous attendance policy. He treats this class like a joke. Learn the material outside of class because he doesn't let you take notes. GO TO CLASS. -2% ever absence...
It was great having him as a professor, he was really fun and outgoing. He has this ridiculous absent policy; for every absent 6 points off, every tardy 3 points off. I missed my final speech and many days so I didn't pass the class.sucks. But, if you go to class, and do your work.. its easy.
He cares a lot about his students and the subject, though he thinks it will be a life-changing class for everyone. Pretend you love it and he will love you. Study the IPA for the midterms he only goes over it once in class, and don't ditch. Otherwise it's an easy and semi-fun A.
You get docked 2 points (There are 100 in the entire semester) for EVERY absence you have. There are no excused absences. Every tardy is 1 point off. Make friends with your peers, it'll help the monotony of the course and probably allow you to have some fun with it. The midterm was more difficult than the final. Overall an easy course.
I know that csulb wont be offering comm171 anymore, this was his last semester of teaching it. but i LOVED this class. I got an A. I had no absenses and I listened and studied for the midterm &final. He is very passionate and he sees the good and positives in everybody no matter how bad you do:). He was very helpful in office hours too.
Straightforward lecturer and grader. Tests cover exactly what the powerpoints cover, no need to read the book. As for speeches, follow _exactly_ what the criteria sheet demands and you will succeed. In fact, your speech grade depends more on your material than your presentation, so don't worry if you are a poor speaker. Just try your best.
Great professor. Caring, kind, helpful and very accomodating. Lectures can be painful, but he makes them fun and puts some humor in them. Easy A...I got a B cause of my mistake lol. Take Kopp and enjoy. He's really fun and great
TAKE HIM!!! Because I've been in theater since i was 12 public speaking doesn't scare me but if you are petrified of PS he is super helpful and understanding. The speeches are easy and you get to pick what you want to talk about and test are easy and not cumulative even the final! Even if people stopped midway speech they still got a good grade!
He is a easy grader on the homework and presentation assignments. However, his exams are super hard (I heard that another class all failed in one of his exams). He is not an email person. He either replies my message late or never replies. Oh, and he takes 5 points off for each absent.
2 minor speeches at 2min each and 3 major ones at 5min each. you dont even need to speak well, just follow the criteria sheets and what he says and you'll be fine. Attendance is mandatory, you lose 5 points every unexcused absent so go. Don't bother buying the book, his ppts basically cover it all.
Average professor. MANDATORY attendance. I missed one class, and it moved my grade down from an A to a B, which is what I ended up with. Don't bother with the book.
I would say this professor is super easy! During his lectures, he makes some random and awkward references, and they can be long and boring. Its ridiculous how mandatory attendance is. DO NOT skip a class, because attendance is a huge part of the grade. Easy points, but outrageous. I do recommend this teacher, if you dont mind going to EVERY class
try to avoid taking him. hes whatever. he just seems very unintelligent. business comm is common sense with every slide he shows us but his tests are kinda hard. very little points so little room for error. he always says "okay guys"
We had one paper, one resume/cover letter, two midterms, a final, and a 5 minute presentation. He let class out early several times. Just follow instructions, read over your notes/the book, and it should be an easy A/B.
He is an awesome professor. 2 minor speeches, 2 informative speeches, one persuasive speech and 3 tests! If you follow the guidelines and study his powerpoint you will get an A. Don't really need the book. I would recommend him. He does take role though and deducts points for every time you miss class.
He's a real nice guy, just doesn't seem 100% comfortable teaching, though. Much of the class was an eye-roller because it was so repetitive. You don't need the textbook because a lot of this is common sense and should be an effortless B. Attendance is graded.
This class is painful to attend because he lectures straight out of the the textbook which was unprofessional. I counted him saying "you know" over 30x per class which is poor public speaking for a comm professor He is a really easy grader on assignments, But his exams are HARD. Easy B challenging A. I wouldnt take a class with him again.
If you do good on the speeches, its an easy A (I got a C average on tests). Easy grader on speeches and tests are all multiple choice. He's pretty funny and keeps you interested. Overall great class if you want to be a better public speaker!
He is a very nice professor. I HATE and DREAD public speaking but his class made it less scary. The thing I dont like is that he is very picky with the delivery of the speech which I dislike because atleast I tried. other than that, he is a average professor. Attendance is mandatory, missed one class and got dropped to B to a C.
Everything was easy except for the chapter tests but they're except able. didn't use the text at all. all the materials are covered in his power points. speeches are easy just follow the guidelines. look nice when you're giving your speeches.
He is a fairly easy professor but does not mess around when it comes to attendance. Most of the time he is easy going and an easy grader but has he moments when he thinks he needs to prove himself, which happens like every other class.
Professor Kopp was amazing! Yes, he is a stickler about attendance, but his class is fun and he makes you want to attend! He has really helped me speak in public and his class has convinced me to minor in communications! Take him if you want to learn and have fun learning, seriously! Amazing :)
He grades the speeches extremely easy, but he is also extremely rude! He threw a tantrum if someone ate/was on their phone. Seriously. He cares WAY too much about attendance, you lose 5 points each time (230 total pts) and he likes to assert his authority which makes you lose respect for him. Easy A (if you attend)
This teacher is a jerk. If you are trying to add his class. He had seven absences the first day and still would not take in any new students. The most unhelpful teacher everrrr! Only bother with this class if you get in.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! had him for 334 and 335 same semester. Attendance mandatory yet he lets you out after 30 minutes. His letcture is straight from the book with an addition of 50 "you knows" he knows nothing about bus comm and should not be a professor. Oh and if you eat in class your on his bad side forever!
Professor Kopp was honestly one of my favorite professors this semester. 3 major speeches, 3 minor speeches, 1 essay, 2 tests. Speech grading is super easy. Follow the outline and practice and you'll probably get an A. Tests are mc and a little tricky, but study and you'll get at least a B. Overall, I really liked his class!
230 total pts in the class, attendance is only worth points off though! -5tardy, -10absence. -20 max. takes roll the minute class starts. no extra credit. DONT come lateeatdrinktake phone to bathroomargue for religion... DO practice your speech. it will be obvious if you dont, and he rewards improvement. he doesnt require perfection :)
Easy A even though it can be time consuming such as writing out your 5 speeches and rehearse or quickly skim though the text book. Nothing major is required. This class is structured like high school. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORYREQUIRED so if you WANT an A, YOU NEED PERFECT ATTENDANCE! 2 exams & 1 final, all are 6 chapters each. Very doable. Take him
He is very insightful and gives great constructive criticism when you give speeches. He doesn't destroy your grade if you are nervous and not a good public speaker. All he wants is you to try and to keep trying to get better and you'll get good grades on the speeches. Show up to class or else you lose some points. He's a very nice, cool professor.
As expected, Kopp is effective at lecturing and being clear about his course and grading. Lectures directly from the book so it's not really needed; you'll need the speech criteria worksheets though. Exams and speeches are doable but effort is needed for an A. Show up to every class and take notes if you want an A without buying the textbook.
Attendance is key in his class. If you don't show-up he subtracts points from your grades. There are only three tests (which are difficult and mostly from the textbook). If you blow those, you can't get an A in his class no matter what!
I took this class because Kopp was supposedly the best, but I ended up hating the class and the professor. Midterms are hard, the final was a killer for me. Discussion, Launchpad quizzes, and NB assignments are all easy though which really helps your grade. Also the extra credit clicker questions help if you go to class. Would not take Kopp again.
Attendance is definitely essential to passing this class. Lectures are from the textbook, but he does tell you several exam questions with each chapter's lecture. He's always willing to help, you just have to ask. Three exams (use his study guide and they really aren't that bad), a few papers, and two presentations. I really enjoyed his class.
At first i thought he was the a jerk and hated him but then I humbled myself in order to talk to him about somethings I had missed on my assignments and tests. He was beyond helpful and made sure I understood everything! If you approach him with a humble and open attitude he will help you if you are honest! Hope I get to have him again.
Overall great professor to have at least for this class. Lectures are thorough and the exams come straight from the lectures and book. Attendance, unless you have a documented excuse is mandatory, he deducts points for each unexcused one. More than willing to help as long as you're respectful and nice. Definitely recommended.
There are 3 tests, 2 minor speeches, 3 major speeches. Tests can be a little hard because the study guides are brief. Make sure you buy the book to help you with the tests! I liked this class and it helped me get over my fear of speaking in front of people. I recommend his class! He does subtract 5 points for every unexcused absence.
Prof. Kopp is the best! He gave great feedback and genuinely wants his student to succeed. His lectures were hilarious and even though attendance is mandatory, I enjoyed going to class. I would definitely take him again.
Horrible professor. Do NOT take if you want to actually learn something about business communication! He meticulously grades the couple assignments he gives, clearly does not know the subject because he reads straight off powerpoints and also adds about 50 "you knows" per class. He is not approachable, condescending, and picks favorites. DON'T TAKE
Lectures are not long and boring. He is good at presenting the material for us and is very organized. BUT, if you want an A in the class it will be difficult. Unless, you're a natural public speaker and he likes you.
He was the worst professor I had at CSULB. He seems nice and friendly, but he has favorites. The class is only worth 200 points and if you miss a few points, your chances to get an A are slim. You can forsure get an B or C. An A is difficult and his tests are hard. The content is pretty easy so find another teacher.
Take him! He's a great professor. He gives great feedback on the speeches and he's always very funny and polite. Really enjoyed this class. Would definitely take him again!!
Easy A. Attendance is a MUST. Interesting lectures, does not grade tough on speeches, at all. I got an A on every single one. 3 tests, all straight from the notes.
Really great professor. Would love to take him again if I could. I really give great feedback and wants you to do better each time. Loved the class
This was a pretty easy class. Has an interesting sense of humor. Is very clear about what he wants on the speeches. Is very kind and understanding. Provides easy-to-follow study guides and gives fair grades on the speeches. Would take this class again. Tests are very easy.
LOVED his class. I dont trust the review here on him. His lectures are very simple, gives you personal examples to make it easy for you to understand. Grade is based on speeches and the 3tests. Speeches are easy if you follow the criteria. His tests were kinda hard but as long as you study you are fine. NOTES you take are useful for future classes
He cares about his students very much, he wants to see you succeed! Don't skip class, you lose 5 points every time you do. He's not a harsh grader, it's a pretty easy class. Beware of the tests, you have to read the book. Overall, a great guy and a pretty easy class. Take him!
Good lectures. Tests match the book, so be ready to read beforehand. Clear grading criteria. Very helpful outside of class. Cannot miss class because deductions are made to grade for every class missed.
While Professor Kopp is a good teacher and a generally nice person, take him if you are just wanting a class to show up to for an A. If you're not already good with public speaking you may be set at a bit of a disadvantage because his lectures are entirely from the textbook so your only real way of learning is practice on your own time.
Kopp is a nice, and protective of his students but if you choose a touchy subject on the speeches he is very opinionated and will put you on the spot. I was scared of speaking in front of the class, and he would always make comments. claims is critical to make us better speakers.
In the beginning the class may seem difficult, but it eventually gets better. He has quizzes open for only a 24 hour period on a SUNDAY. Which is pretty inconvenient. He is nice and will try to assist as much as possible, but he can also get pretty defensive. Not too hard of class in general, lectures are just extemeley boring! Attendance matters!
Definitely take him for COMM130! Before, I was REALLY scared of public speaking, but Prof. Kopp's class helped me a lot! I did not expect to do well, but I got an A. For the speeches follow the criteria sheet, for the tests study the book+notes from his lectures, and make sure you show up because he subtracts points if you're absent/late.
Show up to class, pay attention and engage in his lectures. 3 major speeches, and 2 minor ones. Easy weekly quizzes if you do the reading. 3 big tests, read the book and your notes to get As. Remember to schedule your HauthCenter Appointment for your last speech!!!
He is a great professor one of the best ones in the Comm field. in this class you have three major speeches one with a visual and one with no solution. you also have three minor speeches that are super easy. Go to class because he takes attendance and it is ok to show up late he will still mark you as here.
He was super inspiring, likes to be challenged, straight up when it comes to grading so you know specifically what he is going to grade in, attendance matters.
Gives good lectures. Be ready to present but he makes it do-able. I am scared to talk in front of classes usually but he makes it great. The lecture criteria is great - may be awkward at first with the topics but it gets better.
He really cares about making you better as a public speaker. I went into this class with zero skills and I am ending it feeling super confident with my public speaking. It is awkward the first few minor speeches, but choose topics you are passionate about for major speeches and it'll be a breeze.
This professor was so supportive, friendly, and honest. This was all while creating an extremely positive environment in the classroom. The 2 minor and 3 major speeches are well placed throughout the semester, and you know well in advance when they will be coming. He provides great feedbacThe 3 exams are all non-cumulative. I absolutely loved him.
The class consists of 3 major and 2 minor speeches, quizzes, and 3 exams. READ and you'll be fine. Attendance matters. Overall, he does a great job in making you feel comfortable as a speaker. Definitely take him if you are not a good public speaker. Funny and nice guy, uses real life examples to explain certain topics. Easy A if you do the work.
such an easy class. he does require you to purchase the online text but the quizzes were super easy. look for answers off quizlet. easy to receive an A off speeches and any assignment really as long as you put in a little bit of effort. lectures are really boring and drag because he recites what you read in the book the weekend before. very caring!
One of the best teachers Ive ever had. Having to buy the textbook with the online quiz was kinda a hassle consider he covered all the material the next day anyways. Speeches were fun, he gave a lot of freedom with topics and his feedback was fair. Overall, he eases you into public speaking and is great for anyone who may be a little shy.
Professor Kopp is helpful when it comes to people not feeling comfortable in public speaking because he eases everybody into getting more comfortable. He is very kind and will point out your strengths and will really try to help with your weaknesses.
He is one of the best professors I've had at CSULB. His lectures are very informative and interesting. He is good at making difficult concepts easy to understand. Its clear that he cares about his students and gives constructive feedback to help improve the students public speaking skills. He is a fair grader and only wants his students to learn.
Be warned he is very opinioned! His feedback makes you uncomfortable. Instead of giving you constructive feedback, he gives his short-sighted opinion against your Progressive ideas on racism, sexism, or politics. He puts you on the spot and makes it seem as your opinion is illogical. It's like you have to do speeches on what he agrees with.
He talks a lot about politics, and it is almost always right-leaning. He's not against listening to other perspectives but does bring up one-sided arguments during the lectures in the name of "offering a different perspective." Additionally, he might dwell on such politics and veers off of the main points of the lecture.
The best professor you could take for this class!! I was so nervous because it's public speaking but he gives really good tips and helps you get better. Highly recommend. 3 major speeches, 2 minor speeches with 3 exams and quizzes weekly. Quizzes are easy points and speeches are easy as long as you put in effort. TAKE HIM!!!!!!
I strongly recommend taking Business Communication with Professor Kopp! Hes amazing at what he does & you can tell he wants you to succeed. I hate public speaking & he made me feel comfortable whenever I present. 2 exams, a couple of quizzes (very easy), & 2 presentations.
I loved Professor Kopp's class. He was super nice, and I loved going to his class. The speeches were easy and interesting to do, and eventually, I was not nervous to perform. You basically get to chose the topics you speak on within a certain category. There are weekly quizzes (studyguides online), 2 exams, 1 final, and 5 minor and major speeches.
Although speeches make me a nervous mess this professor guided me to solve my problems, and by the last speech I improved my skills dramatically. Strick attendance rules (late 2 times -5pts, each absence is -5pts, 5pts is about 3% of grade). Lectures are nothing speech, sometimes he gives you different pov's on sensitive subjects.
Great class to help with public speaking. Follow criteria sheet to ace speeches!! Memorization is key; try your best to not read off notecard - he notices! Lectures always end early, but content is boring. He tries his best to make class engaging and interesting. Quizzes due on Sunday that are easy to forget about. Talks about politics A LOT!
I took professor Kopp for COMM 334 and I enjoyed the class a lot. He always gave great feedback and I now feel way more confident with presenting and what to expect in the workplace. His lectures always had me engaged. 1 speech, 1 mock interview, midterm, final, and a quiz every week. Overall an easy class, would take again.
His speeches were very easy compared to other comm 130 professor I've heard of. He takes 5 points off for every unexcused absence. Don't forget to do your quizzes on kendall hunt, the online textbook he told us to buy, bc he doesn't remind you of the quizzes. Very supportive and dedicated to helping you being comfortable with public speaking.
He is nice enough but has really conservative views and will bring up issues of SA and police brutality and downplay their seriousness. Some of the lectures were very hard to sit through. The online textbook is required and is $120.The speeches (2minor, 3 major) are very easy, the exams (3) are very easy, you can find the quiz answers online.Easy A
He's great! His lectures are a little "dry" in the sense that he's monotoned but he's very straight forward and constantly checking in on students to make sure they understand the assignments. He provides detailed feedback as well. Book & CH. exams are through a third party site which is roughly about $110. Midterm/Final are in class.
He was an amazing professor and truly cared about his students. He is a bit lecture heavy but as long as you study for the tests you'll do great. Always ask him if you have any questions he'll help. Overall such a good professor.
thought we was cool, turned out to be a backstabber. doesn't tell us had a quiz every sunday and also doesn't tell you that you're missing them when you're the only g0dd4mn participant in his class. class was easy tho read the syllabus .
Lectures can be dull, but he is straightforward. Take good notes and review frequently and you'll do good on the exams. Clear on criteria during speaking assignments and gives good feedback and can be lenient sometimes. Weekly quizzes and textbook on a 3rd party site that you'll need to spend about $150 or so on. Attendance is taken every class.
Love Professor Kopp. Great professor and very motivational. 10/10 would recommend.
Prof Kopp is the guy! He was knowledgable and knew how to push students to do better, would recommend him 10/10!
professor kopp was great! no textbook this semester (not mandatory at least) and you can tell he wants you to do good. five speeches but they're relatively easy, and three exams. he's lecture heavy and you have to use an actual notebook to take notes but it wasn't bad. i'd definitely take him again!
He has in class tests, but if you are in class you have the answers to the exams. Textbook is required as he always has an exam on Sundays (online). He is a caring individual, very fair and cares about everyone. He was very professional even when he didn't sugar coat things. Will take him again and highly recommend him. Easy if you do the work.
He takes attendance as soon as class starts which counts towards your grade. 3 tardies will count as 1 absence. He lectures the entire time which makes it super boring but it's important to listen to his lectures for the tests. The speech topics were easy and fun; you get a lot of freedom. Just study for the test and memorize for your speeches.
Professor Kopp's COM130 class is lecture-heavy, but he's helpful in building public speaking skills. Use Unstuck ai and take good notes to do well on the easy exams and speeches.
Great professor! Super fun and lighthearted lectures. Attendance is mandatory so be there and on time! We had 5 total speeches and three exams. He provided study guides for the exams that covered everything. Would 100% recommend!
very simple assignments, very easy exams with study guides provided ahead of time. lectures are very boring, and the $100 textbook truly isn't required (you'll be fine without it) NO PHONE POLICY PAPER NOTES ONLY! and attendance is mandatory. being late also docks your grade at the end. he rambles a lot but class was an easy A with common sense q's
Professor is a zionist.
